“And it’s an emergency?” Bruce asked her, brow furrowing in concern.
Dani tapped her foot. “Yes. I need to leave now.”
Bruce sighed. “I’ll contact our pilot, but I can’t guarantee that he be able to fly you to Illinois last minute.”
Dani smiled weakly, “Thanks Bruce.” She said as she walked out the door, running into Damian.
“Where are you going?” He demanded, Jerry the Turkey trailing behind him.
“There’s a family emergency I need to go to.” Dani explained, ruffling his hair, grinning when he squwaked and hit her hand away.
“When will you return?”
Dani hesitated, smiling fading, before she looked in Damian’s eye and forced a grin.
“That depends. But I’ll be back, you don’t need to worry.”
The study door opened, and Bruce poked his head out, phone in hand. “Dani, the plane will be ready right after dinner at the soonest. Where exactly are you going?”
“Amity Park, Illinois.”
~
Danielle’s ‘minor family emergency’ was a huge lie.
Damian saw her smile dim and her hands shake as she told him she would be back.
Danielle was in danger, he didn’t need Leauge training to be able to tell.
That dinner, Danielle’s suitcase and bag was right next to her chair as she ate, looking very distracted.
“Woah!” Duke yelped as he tripped over the bag, stabilizing himself on the wall. “What’s the bag for?”
“Sorry, I’m going to Illinois after dinner. Family emergency.” Dani sheepishly, kicked the bag under the table and out of the way, smiling apologetically at Duke.
“Family emergency? But I thought…” Duke trailed off awkwardly. He didn’t need to finish his sentence for everyone to know what he trying to say.
Dani shrugged but didn’t give them an answer.
Duke, Damian’s nd Bruce locked eyes with each other and shared a minuscule nod. They would be investigating in the cave that night.
“Ok, I’m heading out!” Dani said, giving each of them a hug that lasted longer than usual, as if she was leaving for the last time.
~
Dani’s flight was around 2 hours, and the only sound that was in The luxury cabin was the sound of her foot tapping.
She apologized to the pilot for the last minute notice, but he waved her off with a smile. Dani tipped him a couple hundred anyway.
The airfield was pretty far, so Dani called an ride to pick her up.
While she waited, she checked Danny’s message from this morning.
Prototype: Dani we need you in Amity
Protoype: The GIW are acting funny
“Tt. When is the car arriving?”
Dani froze, whipping her head around to see Damian holding a duffel bag and staring at her with a raised eyebrow.
“Uh-what? Damian?” Dani stammered in surprise, before she got angry. “Damian Thomas Wayne, why and how the hell are you here?”
Damian rolled his eyes. “I snuck on the plane and followed you, of course.”
Dani’s eye twitched and Damian got the feeling that this was a bad idea.
There was a long silence before Dani dragged him to the wall and whispered to him, “Damian, I have a reason for you guys not to come. A good reason. So you need to get a plane back to Gotham before it’s too late.”
Damian shook his head. “The pilots gone. And it is too late to catch another flight.”
Dani groaned, but was interrupted by her phone vibrating in her pocket.
She pulled it out and cursed as she read the message.
Dr.Jazz: Dani the GIW is closing down airports
Dr.Jazz: Nobody can get out or in
Dr.Jazz: are you here yet?
Fenton 2.0: I’m here
Fenton 2.0: with an unexpected guest
Her phone binged again, and she snapped her fingers to get Damian’s attention away from his phone- which he had pulled out when Jazz messaged her.
“Our ride is here.” She said curtly, picking up her bags and walking outside the terminal.
Dash Baxter was leaning against his car, searching the crowd. He caught sight of Dani and Damian, giving the younger girl a nod and the tween a raised eyebrow.
“You guys are lucky you got here when you did. The guys in white just closed everything down.” Dash said as he loaded their luggage into the back of his car.
Dani opened the backseat door and let Damian climb in before sitting down after him.
“What’s going on, Dash? Danny hasn’t been replying to my messages and Jazz is being extremely vague.”
Dash started the car and pulled into the freeway.
“Can’t go into detail. Too many cameras. We’re probably being followed.” Dash looked at Damon through the rewrite mirror. “Whos the tyke?”
“Damian. Damian Wayne.” Damian said as he wrinkled his nose.
“Dash Baxter. How’d you get caught up with the Waynes, Dani?”
“Bruce is fostering me. We just haven’t made an official announcement yet.”
Dash let out a whistle. “Nice. I won’t be able to drop you at the FentonWorks Lab, but Star and Paulina wanted to talk to you out anyway.”
Dash pulled into the park, and helped Dani and Damian with their bags before driving off.
There were GIW agents setting up cameras all around the park, in trees, lamp post, and they were even shoving warrants in the faces of home owners and setting cameras on their property.
Around 2/3 of the town was in the park, watching the GIW and talking in hushed tones. They all turned to stare at Dani and Damian as they walked through.
“Why are they stareing at you?” Damian asked, glaring at a boy his age, who squeaked and sprinted away.
“Because my family is rather well known.” Dani glanced at Damian. “And I have a Wayne with me.”
“Dani.”
They turned around to see two girls, one Latina dressed in pink and one blonde with large blue eyes.
“Paulina. Star. How’ve you been?” Dani smiled at them.
Star smiled at her, but it wasn’t real and plastic looking.
“I’m doing great. A little ghosty told me that the Fentons are waiting for you and Damian at the FentonWorks Lab.” Star eyed Damian with a curious eye and peered at Dani through her lashes.
“Don’t you think it’ll be to dangerous for the kid?” Paulina asked, ignoring the way Damian bristled at being called a kid.
Dani’s eye sharperned as she places a hand on Damian’s shoulder. “We have no choice. The GIW closed down the airport. He’ll have to learn how to survive.”
The girls faltered.
“W-what? But my dad is in New York! He..” Paulina stammered, and Star was at her side in a second, comforting her.
Dani and Damian walked away, Danis hand still on his shoulder.
They walked for some time in silence, until Dani stopped them and pointed at a GIW agent.
“Wanna help?” At Damian’s nod she smirked and continued. “Let’s put your training to good use. What do you think they’re doing?”
“You knew?” Damian asked her.
“You guys aren’t the only vigilantes in my family.”
Damian nodded and turned away from her, observing the agents in white.
“They’re setting up cameras. And cold sensors.”
Dani’s lips twisted into a small smile. “The GIW are officially called the Ghost Investigation Ward, but we call them the Guys in White.”
Damian raised an eyebrow. “I didn’t realize there were other ghosts.”
Dani’s eyes flashed green as she grinned.
“Well, Damian, you have a lot to learn. But yes, there are other ghosts.”
Damain nodeded and glanced back toward the Agents.
“Tt. If they investigate ghosts, why are they barricading the town?”
Dani’s face darkened and she placed a gentle hand on his shoulder.
“Damian, there’s a lot I don’t know. But I can tell you this:”
She whispered her next few words.
“It’s about to go from bad to worse. Brace yourself.”

DC x DP Prompt *7*
Robin was staring at the screen of the Bat-Computer, while his mind was trapped in the past.
Damian could still clearly remember growing up in the League. And he remembers that he never questioned Grandfather or Mother, except once.
He had been seven, almost eight, when he was training his stealth. And what would be better practice then to follow his mother around till she spots him.
But this day his mother seemed distracted, something that never happened. He followed her to Grandfathers study and listened.
"The boy is nothing but a hindrance to Damian. He fails to kill and has sympathy that's unbecoming for an al Ghul. If Danyal won't complete his next mission, you will dispose of him", Grandfather sounded annoyed, as if he didn't just spoke about killing his twin, about how their mother would have to kill her own flesh and blood.
He didn't wait for his mothers response, knowing that she wouldn't oppose the demon head. As fast as he could he searched for his other half, they needed an plan.
On their next mission Danyal died. It was tragic, but he had sacrificed himself to save the heir of the al Ghuls. At least that is what Damian reported to the League.
Danyal was on the run and for the next 19 month he was forbidden to leave any clues about his whereabouts for Damian.
At some point he would be able to find him again.
He had searched for Danyal, ever since he stared to life with father. But the little voice in the back of his head kept whispering about how Danyal probably died because of his injuries years ago and that father would see it as his fault that he lost another son.
But know he found one of his clues. An online post from someone with the username 'ghostboi', about a constellation and the story that he himself spun around it. A story only the two of them knew. Well... and a few hundred strangers now, but he would have to talk later with Danyal about that.
Now it was time to tell father about yet another son that mother kept secret from him, oh joy.
.
.
.
The talk had been going as good as anyone could expect, which meant that he and father now sat in a private jet, only two hours after they found out about Danyals whereabouts and three hours since Bruce Wayne knows about his second blood son.
They where going as Civilians, since it would probably go smoother. And because the Brucie Wayne persona seemed to gift his father the ability to talk a little bit easier about emotions. Except for right now, because he was angry at Damian for keeping his twin a secret. Still, Damian couldn't see how he could have handled this better and also stayed silent.
Quietly he goes over the things he found out about his brother.
He now goes by the name Daniel James Fenton
He lives in Amity Park, Illinois
He was adopted at the age of nine by the Fentons
He goes to the local high school
He has an older sister, Jasmine Fenton, who is in college for psychology
His parents are ecto-scientist
He has two friend with the names of Tucker Foley and Samantha Manson
It wasn't a lot, but he didn't have much time and also not the patience to wait any longer. It had been almost nine years since he last seen his other half and even if he was nervous, he just couldn't bear to wait any longer.
After they landed in an airport in the city nearest to Amity Park, the two immediately got into the back of a car and their journey continues.
For a long time it was silent in the car, till Damian couldn't bear his father's brooding anymore.
"I didn't know if he had survived and I deemed it better for everyone involved if I'm the only one with this particular uncertainty and possible grief", even if his own voice was levelled and his father just responded with a grunt, the air in the car seemed now easier to breathe.
~
Yes, Bruce had been livid and heartbroken when Damian had told him about his youngest, but he could understand to some degree where the boy was coming from. And if the situation wouldn't be so heartbreaking, then he could be able to call it sweet of his son. He just didn't want him to hurt, but even so... now it was to late to think about the what if's, in a few minutes he would have Daniel in his sight.
They stopped in front of a house that was a clear violation of every OSHA law he could think of. But the big "FENTON WORK' sign, told him that they were right.
Bruce put on a light smile, before he knocked on the door, Damian on his left side. From inside he heard a little bit of shuffling and a carbon copy of Damian opened the door. Everything except for the eyes were the same.
But before Bruce could say anything, the twins were already in each other's arms. He could hear quiet sniffling.
"You found me, your safe", the words came like a mantra out of Daniels mouth.
"Ahbak, Danyal", was the whispered answer from Damian.
And Bruce felt like an intruder in this moment. He had never seen his son so openly affectionate and it was like a weight had lifted of Damians shoulders.
It took a few minutes till the two brothers let go of each other. Except for their hands, that stayed clasps with each other.
"Hello Daniel, I'm Bruce Wayne. I'm yours and Damians father", he introduced himself with a smile, even though the boy seemed to shrink a little bit into himself.
"Please call me Danny Mr. Wayne. Just Fruitloops call me Daniel", his son gave him a crooked smile and Bruce nodded.
"Of course, but call me Bruce", he answered easygoing.
"Is there a place where we can talk Danyal?", Damian got the attention of his twin with a little tuck on his hand.
"You can come inside. Mom and Dad are out of town to get a few supplies for a new project", his answer was sheepish, as he lead them inside.
It seemed like he had adjusted well to a civilian life. How he wished he could have seen his growth.
They sit down in the living room and start to talk a bit about Danny's life with the Fentons. It's apparent for both him and Damian, that Danny is hiding something from them, but they don't press. Maybe he'll tells Damian, when they have a moment alone.
"Should I help you to pack your possessions now? I'm sure the Fentons won't need to long to come back, so that you can say goodbye", as Damian was speaking, he stood up and looked at a bewildered Danny. But Bruce wasn't really better. As much as he would love to bring Danny home with them, they couldn't just rip him out of his life. And Danny seems to see it just like him.
"Dami... I'm not leaving. I love my parents and my friends, I can't just go and leave them", Danny also stood up and clasped his hands on Damians shoulders.
"Tt... so you choose them over me?", his voice was barely over a whisper.
"No! I-... it's just... give me time? I'm almost done with high school and I want to go Gotham U, so... just wait a bit? Please?", his tone was pleading, as he searched his brothers eyes, whom just answered with a defeated sight.
"Danny is right Damian. We can't just uproot him like that. As much as I want us all together, we found him now, the rest can wait", Damian deflated a little more at his words. And so Bruce couldn't just let the opportunity pass to comfort his children for once.
He closed the small distance between them and hugged both of the boys lightly to himself.
"You know that I always wanted to raise you myself and now that I see you both like that, I wish for it even more", he sighted with a woeful smile, while Damian grumbled about the proximity. But Danny's little smile shifted to a horrified look.
"Your wish is my command~", the feminine voice came out of thin air, but Bruce had no time to think about it. Because just a second later, there were two little Babies in his arms. Two little, screaming Babies.
Bruce never regretted it so much in his life, that he hadn't brought Alfred along.

SUGA/Agust D, Rosemont, May 5, 2023
Tumblr media
I told my family I met someone on the Internet and I’m gonna fly to Chicago by myself and land there at midnight and get from the airport to the hotel … in the middle of the night. And then the next day, I’m going to meet that person in-person at my hotel even though I’ve never seen them or heard their voice. 😳 It’ll be fine. 🤣🤣
I got myself to Chicago and it was uneventful except that I couldn’t figure out which seat was mine on the plane. Ha ha ha ha ha I accidentally sat in “first class” on the first leg of my flight on one of those small jets. This is “first class”… and y'all paid extra for that?
Tumblr media
Then on my connecting flight we were packed like sardines on a real jet and I accidentally sat one row behind the one where I was supposed to be sitting. I’m a derp.
Tumblr media
The hotel was great but I’ve never heard of a hotel property being shared by two different brands. Granted they’re both owned by the same corporation but still both hotels were housed within the same building. I stayed in the Staybridge Suites and the other half of the hotel was Holiday Inn. “When you get off the elevator go left for Staybridge and right for Holiday Inn.”
Anyway…The facility was brand spanking new and staff was excellent, especially the housekeeping staff, so I highly recommend.
And guess what floor I was on? Yes, 7th floor, room 717.
The hotel was less than a mile from ALLSTATE Arena. It was an easy walk. I could see it from my hotel room window.
Tumblr media
Also, this on the property next to the hotel:
Tumblr media
Paging BTS, where are you? There's 22 acres for sale just for you on Mannheim Road, Rosemont, Illinois.
I also saw the Daechwita car drive by!
Tumblr media
Before we headed over to the arena, we went to a Korean BBQ place. My first experience and it was charcoal barbecue, so there was an actual little fire pit in the middle of our table. We had the usual 5 million side dishes and bulgogi. It was delicious. The Korean owners were very nice and attentive. A group of youngish Korean men came in. They had lanyards on but I couldn’t see what was on them. Could they have been Yoongi's staff?? Maybe! Or just a group of coworkers from nearby…
Tumblr media
Truly the absolute best part of the whole trip was meeting this group of crazy people! Y'all are the best and made this whole trip one of the most awesome memories of my life! I am so thankful and I love you guys! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
We got in line close to 5 o’clock at the entrance that was stated on our tickets. There were at least four entrances, each with lines this long that wound around the parking lot and around the building.
Tumblr media
(they didn’t know I was jmdbjk 🤣)
The doors opened a few minutes before 6:30 and the line moved very very swiftly. The venue was very organized except if you were parking a car… it was a little outta control for them ha ha, ha ha ha ha.
One of the things we had hoped we would be able to do would be snag some freebies from fellow Army’s, and they did not disappoint!
Tumblr media
We did not bother to try to get any concert merch because the lines were ridiculously long and people had been in them since early morning. Some said most items were sold out by the time they reached the booth. I would have wanted a t-shirt and I’m sure those went fast.
Merch booths were also set up inside the venue, and those lines were also long. We just went ahead and found our seats and sat down and waited for the concert to begin.
The venue was a lot smaller than I thought it would be, I think Allstate Arena capacity is about 20,000 for concerts.
Our seats were fantastic. I’m sure those who chose general admission had a great time down there but that’s not for me.
Tumblr media
Yoongi looked amazing even though he was not feeling 100%. He still sounded very good but his voice was a little rough at first.
Tumblr media
No one told me that the flames they used during the performance would give off so much heat! I could feel it even from where I was sitting every time they blasted!
Probably one of my favorite songs during the whole concert was Burn It...
Tumblr media
The audience barked throughout the concert and Yoongi smiled in acknowledgement. We saw only one concert goer wearing a wedding dress, but did not see any marry me Yoongi signs.
More Yoongi pics:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see, we had matchy-matchy tangerine hat people in front of us. But black seemed to be de rigueur with lots of fishnets on the legs, arms and body, stomper boots and purple hair. Red chopsticks in the hair, cat ears, black kimonos with gold metallic designs, leather pants and skirts and of course a lot of fan made t-shirts and concert merch t-shirts.
As far as the diversity of the crowd there were people of all ages, colors and genders. Male Army were represented well, all ages and ethnicities.
After the concert we hiked up and down Mannheim Road trying to find food, all the hotel restaurants were closed. I think we were also in a post-concert daze. We ended up right back across from the venue at a take-out pizza place called Rosati's. It was the best pizza ever because we were starving and we stood there and ate almost the whole thing straight out of the oven. STRETCHY CHEESE ROCKS!!
I don't think post-concert depression has set in yet. I am still high from the past three days. IT WENT BY SO FAST! My trip home was not as smooth as the one getting to Chicago. My first flight was delayed 2 hours. They changed my gate 5 times. Its a big airport. I got my steps in that day. I was almost late for my connecting flight in Dallas. I had to run to that gate, they were paging me for the last time. They slammed the plane door as soon as I got inside. And then we waited almost another 2 hours to take off because of these storms that arrived to DFW at the same time I did:
Tumblr media
As usual, I wish I had taken MORE pictures and video but I was watching as much as I could with my own eyeballs and it now seems like a dream. It was over too fast. I am satisfied I was finally part of the purple ocean on May 5, 2023 but now I need to see all seven of them which is now #1 on my bucket list. Using all my universe manifesting, wishing, prayers, chakras, astrological readings, tarot cards and kumbaya to make it happen in 2025-2026.

Just saw a video of a weapons instructor at a traffic stop
He kept his hands in plain view, immediately informed the cops that he had a concealed-carry license and his gun was on his right hip, and informed the cops before he did anything.
A bunch of people in the comments were sneering at the fact that he “had” to do it to avoid getting shot.
Which assumes he would’ve been shot without it.
People who tried to point out that what he did was logical were accused of being “bootlickers”.
Apparently implying that some people can act like in a way that leads to cops shooting them, even if they aren’t an actual threat, is the same as saying the cops are completely blameless and didn’t do anything wrong.
And, of course, none of these people said what someone “should” be allowed to do without getting shot.
A lot of people have a binary view of police interaction. Either the subject is wrong, or the cops are. And if the cops are wrong - even if the suspect looked exactly like a threat to any reasonable observer - therefore the people the cops are dealing with must be completely innocent, even in ways that have nothing to do with what happened at the incident.
Tumblr media
Guy carried this stupid gun-shaped phone case to Stanstead airport in 2016. He got stopped by the cops, for obvious reasons. Could’ve gone a lot worse for him.
Tumblr media
Similar incident happened in an Illinois park in 2019. And there was that controversial derringer designed to look like an iPhone from a few years back.
Executive Summary: Stop acting like cops are psychic.

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Chicago is grappling with local backlash against moving homeless migrants into a new government-run tent encampment as temperatures drop and more migrants continue to arrive.
Hundreds of migrants are still sleeping on floors or in tents outside city police stations. Some who remained this week huddled near tents wearing parkas, knit hats and even ski goggles to cope with the cold weather and falling snow.
At the same time, dozens of protesters have been gathering daily near a construction site where one of two new shelters is being built in Chicago's Brighton Park neighborhood. The shelters, funded by the state of Illinois and expected to open as soon as mid-December, will house up to 2,200 asylum seekers and cost $65 million to build.
Community members in Brighton Park are suing the city to try to stop construction, saying it violates Chicago zoning laws. "These people are just getting off the bus and everything's given to them," said one of the demonstrators, longtime resident Ricardo Palacios. "As a taxpayer, I don't think that's right."
For several months, thousands of migrants with nowhere to go have been sleeping at Chicago police stations and O'Hare International Airport, but the city and churches have stepped up efforts to move migrants into shelters.
Around 1,000 asylum seekers remain at police stations, down from 4,000 three weeks ago, according to city figures.
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, a Democrat who took office in May, has struggled to house arriving migrants, including hundreds bused up each week by the Republican-led border state of Texas after crossing the U.S.-Mexico border. Many of those arriving come from Venezuela and lack family and friends to help them.
The housing issue has become more urgent in recent weeks as the city's frigid winter season - when temperatures routinely drop below freezing and can sometimes fall dangerously low - draws closer and snow has started to fall.
On Tuesday, Johnson, who is Black, criticized Texas Governor Greg Abbott's busing effort during a press conference, calling it "right-wing extremism" that was intentionally targeting cities "led by people of color."
"Their whole motivation is to create disruption and chaos," said Johnson, who has also sought more federal funding to deal with the issue.
Since April 2022, Texas has bused more than 66,000 migrants to six Democratic-run cities, four of which have Black mayors - Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and Washington.
Abbott spokesperson Renae Eze called Johnson's remarks "falsehoods and outright lies" and questioned his commitment to receiving migrants.
"In May, Mayor Johnson welcomed migrants to Chicago, saying the city has 'enough room' for them," Eze said in a statement. "With millions of residents, Chicago is only dealing with a fraction of what our small border communities deal with on a day-to-day basis."

Ottawa, Illinois — At 104 years old, Dorothy Hoffner fell.
Then she kept falling, and falling, and falling. And when the lifelong Chicagoan finally touched the ground Sunday, she landed in the history books and became the oldest person to ever sky-dive.
“Age is just a number,” Hoffner told a cheering crowd moments after touching the ground at the Skydive Chicago Airport in Ottawa.
As the centenarian prepped to board the white Skyvan plane, she slowly pushed her red walker out into the skydiving resort’s hangar.
She took off her light blue cardigan and lifted her black loafers a few inches off the ground one at a time to work her way into a harness.
She declined a jumpsuit but accepted an altimeter.
She left the walker just short of the plane, where two expert instructors helped her up the steps into the hold.
“Let’s go, let’s go, Geronimo!” she said, finally seated.
The plane quickly rose, Hoffner all the while looking calm and confident. She was the only passenger not wearing ear plugs as the propellers loudly buzzed.
When the aft door opened to reveal tan crop fields far below, she and the U.S. Parachute Association-certified instructor tethered to stand.
Hoffner insisted on leading the jump. When she first sky-dived at 100 years old, she was pushed out, she said. This time, she wanted to take charge.
She shuffled toward the edge and leaped into the air.
The plane beat her to the ground. Seven minutes after her jump, she drifted in for her historic landing.
The wind pushed back her white hair. She clung to the harness draped over her narrow shoulders, a look of excitement and wonder spread across her face.
She picked up her legs as the ground approached. And finally, she plopped onto the ground.
The crowd gathered along the skydiving resort’s landing strip roared. Friends rushed to share congratulations.
Someone brought over Hoffner’s red walker. She rose fast, and a reporter asked how it felt to be back on the ground.
“Wonderful,” Hoffner said. “But it was wonderful up there.”
“The whole thing was delightful, wonderful, couldn’t have been better,” she said.
Her mind quickly turned to the future. She might ride in a hot-air balloon next, she said.
“I’ve never been in one of those,” Hoffner said.
The Guinness World Record for oldest skydiver was set in May 2022 by 103-year-old Linnéa Ingegärd Larsson from Sweden.
Hoffner’s record has yet to be certified. The Chicago senior is set to turn 105 in December.
She answered quickly when asked what it feels like to hold the age-based record.
“Like I’m old,” she said.
But the record didn’t seem to interest Hoffner ahead of her attempt to break it.
Before her jump — originally scheduled for early September and delayed three times because of bad weather — her mind was focused instead on the peaceful descent through the sky, she told the Tribune last month.
She first tried skydiving at 100, when her dear friend Joe Conant of Andersonville told her he was planning to sky-dive.
She wanted to join, she told him, because “it sounded interesting.” It became one of her favorite experiences.
“Floating down, it’s so smooth,” she said.
She encouraged everyone to try skydiving and has advice for those who want to give it a try.
“When you’re coming down, make sure you’ve got someone with you. That’s the important thing,” she said.
“I often thought, if I were to do this alone, I would pray when I pulled the parachute cord,” she continued.
“If you pulled it too soon and got caught on the plane, then what would you do when you got caught on the plane? How could they land that plane with you hanging on it?”
Tumblr media
The 104-year-old has spent her whole life in Chicago. She was raised in Garfield Park, where she lived for 50 years before moving to Jefferson Park.
She has spent the last decade at the Brookdale Lake View senior living community. She raves about the facility’s three daily meals.
She worked for Illinois Bell throughout her working years, beginning in 1938 as an operator, she said.
She never had any husbands or children — an essential ingredient she in part credits for her long life.
Hoffner, who describes herself as an “unclaimed treasure, never had to deal with the responsibility of kids," she said.
“Or the pettiness and the mess of a husband,” she said. “I never had to take care of anyone but me.”
The biggest secret to her old age and health is her God, who has been very good to her, she said.
“He kept me really going. I can’t say that I’ve ever had any real terrible pain,” she said. “My life has been very dull.”
She wasn’t much of an adventure-seeker for most of her life. For fun, she’d go out for a weekly lunch with two girlfriends.
Sometimes, they’d visit the Garfield Park Conservatory. She traveled too — to England, Panama, Italy twice and France.
She’s filled her life with chosen “grandkids,” including Conant.
The two met when Conant worked as a caretaker for one of Hoffner’s friends.
Though the friend has since died, Conant and Hoffner still talk daily and share dinner every week.
It was Hoffner’s idea to jump again this year, said Conant, who jumped right after Hoffner and landed before her.
She clutched his hand as their plane rose. The wind caught their feet when they leaped from around 13,500 feet and pushed them into a backflip, he said.
“She’s just a great friend,” Conant said on the ground. “I’m incredibly proud of her.”
Hoffner strongly encourages others to sky-dive like her. "It’s surprisingly affordable and so peaceful.”
But she isn’t sure she’ll do it again. She doesn’t know what the future holds, she said.

I'm Not Scared
Written for Dannymay 2023 Day 17 Prompt: Temper Fandom: Danny Phantom Characters: Danny, OC, Clockwork, Ghost friends Words: 1998 Summary: Parker goes home with Danny for Thanksgiving. They should have expected something crazy to happen, being the first time to visit Danny's hometown since they meet two years ago
Tumblr media
Danny doesn’t have a temper. It’s a fact, not even a fact it’s just known. Danny gets annoyed, he might get a little angry but he doesn’t have a temper.
Parker has been Danny’s roommate living off campus with the guy in their small apartment since the summer after their freshman year. Parker knows a lot about his roommate, not as much as they wished, but enough. They know that he calls his friends from back home every week, and his parents every other week. They know that Danny doesn’t have a job but is able to pay his rent every month along with any bills Parker asks of him. This makes Parker assume that Danny has money but doesn’t want to flaunt it and Parker is honestly okay with that. They know that Danny loves the cold and loathes the heat and They know that Danny doesn't have a temper.
“You’re sure you want to come home with me for Thanksgiving?” Danny asked his roommate, the two packing their bags in Parker’s small car.
“Yeah, dude. It’s better than going home or being by myself for a week here,” Parker shrugged as the two drove to the airport.
With ease they boarded the plane, Danny stepping aside for a moment to send a quick text to his parents that they were boarding and will be there soon.
“You should get some sleep,” Danny said yawning, as he looked towards Parker, they did leave early in the morning.
“Like your one to talk,” Parker rolled his eyes, knowing his roommate's tendency to go days without sleep.
“It’s different I’m used to it. Don’t actually need much sleep,” Danny mumbled as he fell asleep, right as the plane lifted in the air.
“Now arriving at Amity Park Illinois,” the pa system said.
It was after the two were off the plane and exiting they started to make their way.
“Aren’t we going to get a car or something?” Parker asked.
“Nah. No taxis or anything in Amity, my dad is a horrible drive, my mom I feel is better watching over my dad, I don’t even know if Jazz is here, and I’m not much for driving. Amity is one of those places where everything is everywhere. It’s not that long of a walk, especially for you Mr. Walk two miles every other day,” Danny teased.
“Well yeah I don’t have a problem walking but you however I’ve never seen you exercise. Excuse me for being worried about my friend's health,” Parker glared as Danny laughed.
“I promise you Par. I’m a lot stronger than I look. I miss being home,” Danny smiled as he breathed in the air. It was a feeling a ghost can have of only being in their lair after being so long. It was the feeling of all the raw ectoplasm in the air that only he can taste.
“So what do you normally do when you go home?” Parker asked as the two walked.
“Well, I try to meet up with my friends. Not sure if Sam and Tucker are here, but I have others that I hang out with. I get something to eat over at the Nasty Burger, it tastes better than it sounds,” Danny laughed at Parker’s reaction. True to Danny’s words it wasn't long before they were in the city center of Amtiy.
“So which house is yours?” Parker asked as Danny gave a laugh.
“We’re almost there. I promise you that you won’t miss it.”
They continued to walk until they came upon a house, but that couldn’t be it, because it had a giant. . .U.F.O.? on top of it with a giant sign that said Fenton Works.
“This can not be your house,” Parker pointed.
“Yeah, it’s home. Didn’t do me too many favors in high school, but I guess my high school career is not something that one can call normal. So pre-warning if any of the food is glowing don’t eat it and if there is fudge don’t eat too much. My mom makes it for my dad,” Danny said as he opened the door.
“Mom! Dad! I’m home!” Danny yelled, letting Parker in as he shut the door behind him.
After he got no answer he decided to set his bag down in the living room, Parker following his lead as he walked to the basement door. “Mom Dad! You in there?”
“Danny!” an older female voice yelled through the door, sounds of footsteps coming closer.
“We didn’t know you were going to be home so soon. We would’ve picked you up at the airport sweety,” his mom smiled down at him.
“And risk dad’s driving? No way I’m dead enough as it is,” Danny said as it causing his mom to glare at him.
“Danny. You know I don’t like those types of jokes,” she said sternly.
“I told you, dude. Death jokes aren’t cool,” Parker shrugged.
“Shut up. I have a right to make as many death jokes as I want. I’ve kind of earned that right,” Danny gave a proud smirk.
“One close call to death that lands you in the hospital does not make you able to make death jokes. You’re tempting it,” his mom said.
“We have tea on Thursdays,” Danny was quick to bite back as he finally focused on Parker. “Anyway, Mom this is Parker. Their my roommate. Roommate this is my mom. If you see a big guy in an orange jumpsuit it’s my dad,” Danny introduced.
“Hi! It’s good to meet you,” Maddie smiled at him as she walked to the kitchen. “I’m sure you’re both hungry after a long day. I’ll make you some lunch.”
“Thanks, Mom,” Danny smiled as they followed her to the kitchen.
“Are you going to visit them while you’re here?” she asked, making Parker raise an eyebrow,
“It’s not like I have a choice,” Danny shrugged as he played with the ring on his finger. A ring that he has had for as long as Parker has known the guy. A ring that he’s never seen Danny take off and he doesn't think he ever will.
“You always have a choice. Everyone in your corner has made sure of it,” Maddie smiled down at him. Parker has never felt more like an outsider than in this moment.
“If it’s not me it could be someone worse. I’m okay with it. I legally get to live my life until I reach of age,” Danny told her as Parker looked at his best friend in confusion before he turned to Parker “Want to go on a trip tomorrow?”
“Uh sure,” Parker shrugged, not sure if she should really keep trusting his friend, but no matter how weird Danny has been he’s always proven to be a good guy.
The rest of the night went smoothly, no more confusing talks and Parker was actually able to meet Danny’s dad and his older sister. She seemed to be able to read Danny like an open book which was a pleasant change from being around people who could never tell what the guy was thinking.
The next day Danny woke Parker up early in the morning.
“Really? We’re on break and I have no classes. Let me sleep in just this once,” Parker begged.
“Sorry. Tomorrow we can sleep in, but I promised a field trip today so we got to go. Get dressed and I’ll get us some breakfast,” Danny walked out of the room.
“So where are we going?” Parker asked, taking a bite of the breakfast Danny was able to get the two.
“A mirror dimension,” Danny shrugged as if it was nothing, walking down the stairs to the basement.
“I’m sorry! Wait what?”Parker asked confused as they finished eating their food and followed after his strange roommate.
“Yeah so kinda blowing a big secret of mine here, but I’m like halfdead and we’re going to the ghost zone,” Danny smiled as right before Parker’s eyes two rings split down the middle changing Danny’s blue jeans and red and white hoodie to black jeans with a black and white hoodie. His hair went from black to white. His shoes are from normal tennis shoes to black combat boots. The thing that drew Parker’s eyes was the ring Danny wore everywhere was now glowing with a fire that wasn’t burning Danny.
“Yeah so surprised. It’s not dangerous, just grab whatever you’re comfortable with and it’ll work in the GZ,” Danny promised as he pointed to the wall that had skateboards, skates, scooters, and even bikes. Grabbing the board seemed to be the safest option Danny grabbed them and the board and pushed them into the green swirling wall. How did Parker not notice that?
Parker will admit that at first, they were scared and terrified but seeing Danny wave happily to the others that lived there and to see them wave back made him happy. They ended up at a castle where they were met with a few others who looked like they stood out, who Parker could point out in a crowd and say that they are the important ones.
“So I see you have chosen to reveal yourself,” the one whose body kept changing pointed out.
“I felt it was time,” Danny shrugged.
“Not like it will do the child much. He still has his studies to focus on and I for one am tired of the distractions. At this rate he will never be ready,” one ghost ranted.
“I’m not a child ghostwriter,” Danny rolled his eyes as he crossed his arms.
“Forgive us Great One, but while you may be of age in the human world-”
“I am still a child by ghost standards. I’m aware Frostbite,” Danny patted the giant yeti’s arm comforting.
“So Parker this is my council and trustee’s I guess you could call them and guys this is my roommate, Parker,” Danny said excitedly.
“Council? Of course, you have a council. Why do you have a council?” Parker asked.
“Young Daniel here is next in line for the throne of King of infinite realms,” Clockwork spoke, changing forms again.
“Yep! This is clockwork, Ghost Writer, Dora, Frostbite, Pandora, and- wait where’s Walker?” Danny glared.
“I am sorry Danny, but he refused to show up,” Pandora said an angry look on her face.
“Vlad never shows up either, but we never make a big deal about him,” Dora defended the ghost.
“I deal with Vlad personally. Walker and I have a business deal going on, one that I hope he decided not to break,” Danny glared in that direction. “Guess I’ll have to go deal with him. Sorry, Parker. I’ll be back,” Danny flew away.
“Wait Danny don’t leave me here!” Parker yelled, using the skateboard to follow.
The scene he showed up to was of a destroyed prison with Danny in the center of it. He had a small ghost held close to his chest and the other with his hand through his chest as he spoke.
“I told you to never put your hands on her! You broke my word and my word will be law! I can not punish you to the fullest yet, but Walker soon I will be king and you better have my forgiveness by then,” Danny yelled, tossing the ghost to the side as he held the ghost closer, his hair no longer glowing with blue fire.
Yeah, Parker had no idea that Danny had a temper, but if he can hold it in till something truly bad like this, even if he doesn’t have all the details, maybe their nothing for Parker to be worried about. He’ll just have to get the full story from Danny another day.
Passing the ghost over to the Yeti, Danny smiled and brought him back to his house, saying he’ll be back in a few hours. Yeah, Danny’s a good guy he thinks, if only a little scary.
will be making a master post for this au eventually.

There are two Uniqlo stores in Illinois. One is on State Street, in downtown Chicago and the other is at Woodfield Mall in the suburbs. Driving and looking for parking downtown is so annoying that after dropping my parents off at the airport, I came back to the suburbs and I'm sitting the parking lot of the mall, waiting for it to open at noon, rather than pay $30 for parking downtown.
