AEW Has a Problem
Everything that I type here is all in my opinion and it's something I didn't want to discuss at first but feel like it's time to say it. AEW has a problem and that problem is CM Punk.
How did this problem start, you ask? Go back to the post-media event of "All Out 2022" where just minutes after regaining the AEW World Heavyweight Championship, CM Punk lashed out at the media instead of talking about his reaction to the return of MJF (aka Maxwell Jacob Friedman) from earlier that day.
His words caused a backstage brawl that resulted into suspensions of himself and all around him including Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson, Kenny Omega, Brandon Cutler, Michael Nakazawa, etc. Also, due to that brawl, both the AEW World Heavyweight Championship and the AEW Trios Championship were vacated.
The Trios title ended up being help by PAC, Rey Fenix, and Pentagon until January 2023 while the AEW World Heavyweight Championship would be returned to Jon Moxley who regained the title and held onto it until November where he lost in what many can considered controversial fashion to Max Friedman.
Many people including myself were under the impression that a deal was reached where CM Punk would be let go by the company for his actions. Not the case as we learned that this Saturday (June 17, 2023) a new AEW show will premiere called "AEW Collision" and the show will heavily involve CM Punk.
Now...how did people react to his imminent return. Not very good. From everything I heard and read, the reaction was very negative with boos almost all over arenas and on social media. AEW tried to cover it up by finding those who'll cheer his return. It didn't work. Worse than that...the announcement of his return caused slow ticket sales so what happens next...let's announce his return match.
CM Punk, Dax Harwood, and Cash Wheeler vs. Jay White, Juice Robinson, and Samoa Joe. If you're a Jay White fan, you'd be like "yay, Jay's on AEW Collision" in an exciting way but when you read he has to face Punk in 6-man tag action you like "yay, Jay's on AEW Collision" but your excitement meter goes down.
To make matter worse for AEW, they aired a VTR of Punk last night on AEW Dynamite that got the crowd booing even more. And from the people I follow on social media, all were furious that AEW keeps on showing Punk. Some even ask "why has he not been punished yet for his actions" "why is he getting awarded when everyone got punished"
These questions I cannot answer but I can say that AEW has a problem (CM Punk). They've tried almost everything to cover up the problem and instead have made it worse. And now...I read something in which this problem AEW has with Punk is so bad, I don't know how they're going to solve it at this point. That something...an interview that apparently and/or reportedly went out of control. Read some details on it and...it's not good.
The last time I watched AEW was the week before "All Out 2022" in which I was starting to question Punk's booking at the time but was somewhat proud to see Kenny Omega back in the ring. Haven't watched AEW since then and until they release CM Punk, have no intention to watch AEW again though there'll be times I'll watch certain highlights but not a full show.
One more thing I've been reading since they've been announcing his return was a proposed match against KENTA at "Forbidden Door 2023" taking place June 25th in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. From what I read, many are thrilled about the proposed match because this could solve the one issue many have, who really owns the "GTS'. Instead, I read that Punk was "not interested". Reading that really boils me up because how in the world can you not be interested in facing a former GHC Heavyweight Champion, a 3-time GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion, a 3-time GHC Junior Tag Team Champion, a former GHC Tag Team Champion, a former Global League winner, a former IWGP United States Champion, a former NEVER Openweight Champion, and a 2-time (and reigning) Strong Openweight Champion. Why in the world do you say "not interested" to someone is regarded by many to be the best the world has to offer. Read KENTA's response to the proposed match and...it's a interesting one because he'll only do it if it requires the money provided but if Punk is saying "not interested" then why bother.
Again, AEW has a problem that they've yet to solve and based on all I've read, based on all I've heard, and based on almost everything I've said here...are not even going to attempt to solve the problem and it's a shame that this is happening. None of this would have happened if they had just fired Punk. Instead, look where we're at right now. This (AEW Collision with Punk) is going to blow up in their face.
With that...done talking about Punk here. Again, everything I just typed right here on my Pro Wrestling Express is all in my opinion. Feel free to comment on your opinion in this ongoing problem that AEW has no attempt to solve at this time.

Learning from Survivor - a coping mechanism
DISCLAIMER: This is a statement coming from somebody that didn't throw a single vote on Sweden and was pulling so hard for Finland. I get the mood.
DISCLAIMER 2: It's fine to be upset when your fave doesn't win! I get it! I'm a little upset too. But I don't know about y'all, but I don't like feeling upset, it's not a fun way to feel.
I want to talk about Russell Hantz.
When Survivor: Samoa and Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains aired, Hantz was a huge fan favorite. They loved his aggressive game play and his total dominance over who went home. Both times he played, he got to the finale with the two people he wanted.
And he got bodied by one of them. One of whom was the first person to win twice. (Seem familiar?)
After losing twice, Russell was pissed. At the reunion, he insisted that the game wasn't fair, and that things should be different. America should have a portion or the vote. Jeff's response is something that stuck in my head:
"That's a different game. That's a game called Russell Decides Who Wins Survivor."
Everyone knew the rules going in; Russell was just trying to win a different game, one that wasn't there.
As an avid Survivor fan, I am no stranger to a jury voting in a way that is confusing or against your faves. It's a super upsetting moment and takes the wind right out of your sails. I never pulled for Russell, but I'm still baffled by the results of last season.
I get being frustrated that Kaarja lost, despite televote dominance. I'm frustrated, and I fucking loved Tattoo. But I help chill myself out by remembering a few key things:
1) **They all knew the rules going in.** They knew there'd be a jury and they knew how the scores worked. They brought themselves to the contest with that full knowledge.
Cha Cha Cha is a weird song. Delightfully weird, but it's still a risk to bring. The fact that it was so successful is AMAZING, and says something about its quality. But Kaarja knew he was up against a jury, and so did Loreen.
2) **There's always things that we don't get to know.** I haven't seen the jury performance, but from what I heard Kaarja's was a little rough. It happens, but that's a factor.
3) **We have power in the aftermath.** Specifically, the power to drown our faves in love.
Support their music. Send them love on their social media. Make sure they get a huge amazing audience from this platform.
Loreen won the Eurovision Song Contest, and she deserved that win. But we can play our own game here, and make sure our favorite artists win. Channel that energy into something good, replace that anger with passionate love.
That's just my opinion, but one I felt worth sharing.

Starting Monday, passengers flying on Korean Air may be asked to step on a scale before boarding their flight.
The exercise, which will last about three weeks, is required by law and applies to all Korean flag carriers, a Korean Air representative told CNBC.
The law requires airlines to weigh passengers and their carry-on luggage at least every five years and is “crucial for safety of flight operations, the representative told CNBC.
The announcement was met with backlash from the public, according to local media.
A notice detailing the exercise — set to begin at Gimpo International Airport Monday, followed by Incheon Airport next month — has been removed from the airline’s website, due to “sufficient notice and media coverage,” according to the airline.
Is it reasonable to weigh passengers?
“Definitely not,” said Vance Hilderman, CEO of the aviation safety company Afuzion.
At least not for the purpose of safety, he said.
“If you’re at a small Bombardier, a small Embraer jet, and we had 10 very obese people … it could make a small difference,” he said. “On commercial aircraft, anything from a 737 and above you know, 120 people, we have it built in.”
Aviation software can adjust for weight changes, air density and other factors, which is why safety isn’t compromised even in situations where passenger makeup is atypical, such as an early morning flight of mostly businessmen, who tend to weigh more than the average traveler, he said.
Overall, a significant weight increase per passenger would be eclipsed by the weight of fuel, cargo and the aircraft itself, said Hilderman. “Fuel is 20 times more than the passenger weight,” he said.
But Shem Malmquist, an instructor at Florida Tech’s College of Aeronautics, said random weight samples are a good idea.
“We use average weights of passengers, but people are getting a lot heavier,” he said. “Three hundred people that weigh more than average can put an airplane significantly over weight, and all of our performance calculations — runway length, climb, obstacle clearance, landing distances, altitude capabilities — all are dependent on weight, among other things.”
Hilderman agrees that people are getting bigger, but he said passengers now differ in other ways too.
“Americans are getting heavier. So are Chinese, so are Koreans,” he said. “But we’re also flying younger … so it’s actually offset the average human’s weight increase.”
A study published in 2019 in the Journal of Transport & Health found that regions with higher obesity prevalence “may begin to see significantly compromised safety margins if increasing weight trends continue.”
Jose Silva, an associate professor at Australia’s RMIT University’s School of Engineering and one of the study’s authors, told CNBC that he thinks airlines are reluctant to weigh passengers because of the sensitive nature of the topic.
“There is also a lack of understanding of the safety gains which could be obtained if there were more accurate means to ascertain the passengers’ weight, instead of relying on standards,” he said.
A whistleblower complaint filed in 2021 alleges that the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has failed to recognize safety issues caused by relying on average passenger or baggage weights that no longer reflect the U.S. population.
Where airlines weigh passengers
Air New Zealand weighed passengers in June for reasons, it said, related to safety and fuel efficiency.
Finnair did the same in 2017, and Hawaiian Air has conducted multiple passenger weight exercises on flights between Honolulu and American Samoa. (The now defunct Samoa Air used to charge passengers by their weight, according to Reuters.)
Flyers in the United States likely won’t be weighed, said Hilderman, even though an FAA advisory circular published in 2019 stated that airlines can weigh passengers.
It’s a different story in Europe, where carriers follow European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) regulations.
EASA weighed nearly 23,000 passengers in 2008 and 2009 and found that average passenger weight had increased by 3 to 5 kilograms (6.6 to 11 pounds). A subsequent report published in 2022 found that mean passenger weight increased slightly since 2009, for an average of 82 kg (181 pounds) for men and 68 kg (149 pounds) for women.
Periodic weight assessments — of passengers and other items on board — can help airlines determine if weight estimates are still accurate to offset the amount of cargo they carry, said Hilderman.
But “there’s a little more to this mystery,” he added.
“In Europe, they’re a little more rigorous about individual rights with privacy,” he said. “With EASA, they want to protect the passengers and say: Look, the passengers are getting larger, so airlines, we want you to provide a minimum pitch distance on your seats.”
Commercial airline seating is based on average passenger weight from the 1950s to 1970s, Hilderman said. Since then, people have gotten bigger, but seat pitches have dwindled, he said — “29 inches in some cases, it’s absolutely ridiculous.”
A hot-button topic
Passenger size on planes is a controversial topic — with oversized flyers lodging discrimination allegations over Lilliputian plane aisles and seat sizes, and smaller travelers publicly venting about seat encroachment.
But unlike other industries that service heavy people — from makers of chairs to toilets to amusement park rides — the airline industry hasn’t enlarged seats.
“Some have proposed that obese passengers be required to pay for two seats in order to not make other passengers uncomfortable, but that lets the airlines escape any responsibility,” said Nick Gausling, a consumer services business consultant and managing director of Romy Group LLC.
Gausling noted that while other industries have been pressured to prioritize customer experience, “consumers have very little choice to take their business elsewhere” when it comes to airlines.
Tigress Osborn, the executive director of the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance, told CNBC that most major airlines have responded with three options for overweight travelers: pay for pricier tickets that come with bigger seats, purchase a second seat, or stay home.
“Fat people deserve to travel for pleasure just like everyone else, and we also need to remember that air travel is for work, for family obligations, and for other responsibilities, too,” she said. “Our taxes help support this industry, and we deserve to be accommodated safely and comfortably, with access to accessible seating at all price levels.”
Ideas to help larger passengers
Hilderman said airlines can sell second seats to plus-size travelers at a heavily discounted rate.
Or they can reserve half a dozen seats for larger people, which passengers could privately register for online, using height and weight details from their driver’s licenses, he said.
Those seats could be sold at a small surcharge, and if not booked by qualified passengers the week before the flight, released to anyone willing to pay for them, he added.
Any hope for wider seats?
As to whether airlines will increase seat sizes for everyone, Hilderman said that while it’s mathematically possible, it’s not practical.
“Fuselage diameters have been predetermined,” he said, referencing the main body of the aircraft. “We currently have 29,000 commercial aircraft flying, and we only make about 1,500 per year, so it would take 20 years to replace the entire fleet.”
Refitting planes with wider seats means narrowing the aisle, which is already a tight squeeze, he said. To widen the aisle, one seat from every row would need to be removed, resulting in a 20-25% ticket price increase across the board, he said.
“Most people don’t look at what kind of aircraft they’re flying, and they have no idea what the seat pitch or width is,” said Hilderman. “They’re simply buying on price — and the airlines know that.”
Arnold Barnett, a management science and statistics professor at the MIT Sloan School of Management, told CNBC that most flyers are willing to endure current seat sizes in return for lower fares.
If seating changed, “airfares would have to go up, and flying would become unaffordable to passengers on limited budgets.”
For many, a tight airline seat is better than a seat on a bus, he said.

Supercard of Honor XV - News & Preview
(photo credit: Ring of Honor on Twitter)
Supercard of Honor XV takes place on Friday, April 1 2022 in Garland, Texas. There's been quite a bit of news and speculation surrounding the first ROH show of the Tony Khan era. Let's dig in!
The main event, Gresham v Bandido for the Unification of the Championship, is a make good from December's Final Battle. Bandido came down with Covid and couldn't make the PPV to defend his title, so Gresham fought Jay Lethal for an interim title. The two men have been defending their interim titles all over the place in the months since, with matches across multiple promotions. Both Fightful and the Observer have reported that Gresham is expected to sign with AEW "very soon," although it's unclear if he would sign an AEW deal or an ROH deal.
The remaining matches on the card all feature at least one AEW contracted wrestler, with Alex Zayne and the Briscoes the only wrestlers with no AEW experience. Willow Nightingale has appeared fairly regularly on Dark and Dark Elevation. Josh Woods has appeared recently on Dark, and during the last tapings got his own entrance, complete with music and a victory. Wheeler Yuta has not received the "All Elite" graphic on Twitter, but given the high profile of his recent AEW angle, this may simply be a formality.
Fightful recently reported that execs at Warner Media had blocked any potential appearance by the Briscoes on Dynamite or Rampage, reportedly because of homophobic tweets made by Jay Briscoe in 2013. The Briscoes and FTR have been teasing a match since December, with FTR making an appearance at Final Battle and the two teams sniping back and forth at each other over social media. SRS had reported that there was significant interest from various promotions in hosting the match but there was difficulty in booking it because neither team wanted to lose.
Current ROH Women's Champion Deonna Purazzo is booked on Friday night for WrestleCon's "Multiverse of Matches" show, which makes it impossible for her to defend the title at Supercard of Honor on the same night. In addition there are reports that Impact! may have taped matches featuring Purazzo defending her title that have not aired yet, complicating the booking further. This may be why Friday's SoH match is for an Interim Title, rather than for a Title Shot.
(Friday features Smackdown, Rampage, the WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony, two GCW shows, Multiverse of Matches, and a NJPW Strong Show. There's a fuckton of wrestling this weekend, friends.)
Regarding non-AEW talent working the show, there was a report on Fightful that Killer (aka Karrion) Kross and his wife Scarlett had been tentatively booked for the show back in December, but that after the "regime change" they had not heard from anyone about the show and are no longer advertised.
Last, but not least, Tony Khan has teased "a surprise" for the show. C.M. Punk spent a bit of time during the Revolution media scrum talking about how much he loved RoH and how happy he was that Tony Khan had bought it. It's certainly possible that there may be an appearance by Punk or other famous RoH alumni like Bryan Danielson or Samoa Joe.

Overview
Our society is not as knowledgeable as it can be when it comes to the trauma placed on the Polynesian people and this is an extreme issue. For Samoans to be the second largest Polynesian group in the U.S. we are not talked about enough. Discrimination in race, sexual orientation, gender, etc. on Samoan women are just a few forms of predijuce we face. These examples are not expressed because the news and social media do not make our society aware. Samoan Women are instilled to forgive at a young age so we take microagressions lightly. We handle people with kindness, gently and gracefully but in doing so the anger, resentment, and sadness take a toll on our mental health.
As an afakasi (mixed) woman, I chose this topic because I wanted to spread awareness to other ethnic women, inform myself, and understand the women of my family's beliefs from a more personal perspective. I wanted to learn and discover what situations were not able to be brought to light because of our cultures denial. I am proud to share roots with Samoan women because it takes strong women to survive the torment, violence, strict cultural norms, etc. I was born in Fullerton, California and I believe I am a more Americanized Samoan woman than if I grew up on the Samoan islands. A lot of what makes me who I am is my environmental influences and that isn’t always the Samoan culture. Although the Samoan culture is truly beautiful, there are evils that subside (even more so) if you are a woman because we represent the highly respected woman chief of Samoa.
These evils I speak of are hard to swallow but it is even more hard to swallow if you ignore them. Samoan women are sexualized, violently handled, and society looks the other way. In our culture, if a woman plans to be a single mother she is “hexed by evil spirits,” leading to abnormalities in the unborn child (Samoans believe in black magic, a way to harm someone evil for evil purposes). About 70% of Samoan women think that men sometimes have a good reason to beat their wives (even while pregnant). Samoan women tend to believe they have greater priorities than their overall well being and health. Typing just three of these preliminary informations makes my heart hurt. Most samoan women are so accustomed to the culture, they will allow almost anything to happen to themselves and their children. As speechless as you are right now after reading this, imagine for a moment you were these women. Why haven’t I heard anything in the news? Island women are one group of minority women that tends to be left out of the statistic. There is a lot of behind the scenes that don’t make it on the air. These stories and what I found is going to be a lot to take in but it is so important to be aware, these situations could happen to you or someone you love.. 90% of women who are attacked are young adults!! The lack of knowledge on the violence many women of color face is often left unsaid but I intend to always speak up, not only for my samoan women but for ALL women.

The U.S. Has a $1 Billion Plan to Electrify Faculty Buses
Photograph: OLIVIER DOULIERY / AFP (Getty Pictures) This story was initially revealed by Grist. You’ll be able to subscribe to its weekly publication right here. Lower than 1 p.c of the nation’s roughly 500,000 faculty buses are electrical or run on low-emission fuels. That’s about to vary. Practically 400 faculty districts throughout the USA, together with in a number of Indigenous tribal lands, in addition to in Puerto Rico and American Samoa, will obtain round $1 billion to buy new, largely electrical faculty buses as a part of a Biden Administration grant program. This system goals to cut back youngsters’s publicity to dangerous exhaust from diesel buses that serve their faculties and communities. It’s also a part of a broader effort by the Biden Administration to handle local weather change and environmental justice by making it simpler for weak communities to have entry to zero-emission autos. The grant program’s funds come from $5 billion that the EPA acquired as a part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Regulation. With the grant cash, recipient faculty districts will have the ability to buy almost 2,300 electrical buses, quadrupling the nation’s present quantity. Whereas these lower-polluting buses would make up a small portion of college bus fleets, environmental and public well being advocates argue that the optimistic impacts on youngsters’s well being can be profound. G/O Media might get a fee In a press launch, WE ACT for Environmental Justice, a Harlem-based group, praised Wednesday’s announcement and this system’s attain, saying that it could enhance air high quality and “scale back youngsters’s publicity to asthma-causing pollution whereas additionally defending the well being of drivers and the communities these buses drive by way of.” The Biden Administration expects lots of the new electrical buses to be out there to the successful faculty districts by the beginning of the subsequent faculty 12 months, with the rest out there by the top of 2023. Air air pollution stays a serious contributor to poor respiratory and cardiovascular well being, with autos a essential wrongdoer. Greenhouse gasoline emissions from transportation make up the highest portion of complete greenhouse gasoline emissions within the U.S., at 27 p.c. The World Well being Group estimates that 93 p.c of the world’s inhabitants breathes air that exceeds its public well being pointers. Youngsters are notably weak to the impacts of poor air high quality. A 2021 research discovered that even transient publicity to air air pollution, together with wildfire smoke and automotive exhaust, can alter a toddler’s DNA and improve their danger of coronary heart and lung issues as adults. Seventy p.c of scholars from low-income households take a bus to highschool, rising their publicity to diesel exhaust. Youngsters of shade, particularly, usually tend to reside close to heavy transit routes, industrial amenities, and different sources of vehicular and industrial air pollution. That is largely attributable to historic housing, zoning, and transit insurance policies that left Black and Brown communities with few different choices. Because of this, youngsters of shade have greater charges of bronchial asthma and different respiratory sicknesses than white youngsters. Air air pollution additionally poses different sudden well being dangers to youngsters of shade. A 2017 research on Latino youngsters in low-income neighborhoods in Los Angeles discovered that publicity to air air pollution throughout childhood might trigger harm to the pancreas — the organ that produces insulin, rising their chance of turning into overweight and growing Kind 2 diabetes.
