you and your girlfriend, jessie were quite literally some of the nicest people alive. every time someone was around the two of you for either a short or long time, they came out feeling lighter, happier and all round just more positive.

you and jessie just radiated love, a special bond between the two of you that was just undeniably beautiful.

you and jessie met at a college party years ago. you both went to ucla yet never crossed paths until this party. you weren’t really a party goer and neither was jessie, you both found refuge in the backyard of the house you were at.

both of your friend groups had unknowingly ditched you and you both wanted some air, away from all the drunk frat boys and sorority girls.

“sorry, do you mind if i sit here?” you ask the brunette where she sat on a small bench. her head snapped up from her phone at hearing a familiar accent. canadian.

“oh, yeah, go ahead!” jessie stutters, scooching over a little and patting the spot next to her. you smile at her gratefully, sitting down with an exaggerated huff.

jessie lets out a laugh when you sat, both of you looking at each other with bright smiles. you both thought the other was breathtakingly gorgeous, feeling like the party was a little worth it at this point.

“you sick of seeing people basically fucking each other everywhere too?” you ask her with a shake of your head, your eyes falling on a couple making out in a way that should definitely be behind a closed door.

jessie chuckles, looking down at the cup in her hand and nodding while taking a sip of it. “that and my friends ditched me” she rolls her eyes, you nudge her shoulder with yours, “mine too, don’t worry” you grin, making her return one shyly.

“i’m (y/n) by the way” jessie smiles, repeating the name in her head that she would surely never forget.

“jessie” you smile at her, pink cheeks a little evident on the both of you when you made eye contact again.

“sorry if this is weird but are you from canada?” jessie asks nervously, your eyes widen comically, your face brightening at the girl's question.

you didn’t really have many friends from back home who came to the states for college. sure there was a bunch of canadian girls at college but none of them were this pretty. or this easy to talk to.

“i am! don’t tell me you are too?” you question, jessie smiled at your excitement, her heart beating quickly at your glistening eyes. she nods, making you start rambling with where she was from.

you both continued to chat and it was scary how much you had in common.

the conversation was full of laughter, shared jokes and most definitely a shared attraction. “so, jessie, what do you do besides being an environmental warrior?” you say cheekily, the girl scoffs, slapping your thigh gently and rolling her eyes,

“i play soccer” she mocks, you give her an impressed smile as she explained how good she really was, “mhm, i should come and watch you sometime, superstar?” you flirt, giving her a charming smile that had butterflies swarming in her stomach.

you’d both gone far from friendly conversation, the flirting taking over after about 2 hours of you familiarising yourself with each other.

“yeah, maybe you should, and you? miss number solver?” she teases back, referring to you doing an accounting degree.

“i play hockey” you move a little so you could face her better and she does the same, although, her face has a shit eating grin on it.

“what’s so funny?” you narrow your eyes at her, “you’re so canadian” she laughs, you shake your head as she throws her head back in laughter, clearly enjoying how you’re not even defending yourself.

she encourages you to talk about your sport and to say she fell in love with you there was an understatement. you spoke with so much passion she really loved to see and hear it.

you also admit you fell in love with her when she talked about her sport, but even more with how intently she was listening to you, soaking in every word you said and clarifying things she didn’t understand.

you both felt something bubbling under the surface as you talked, so much so, when the party started to filter out, she asked if you wanted to get some ice cream and who were you to decline?

the teasing and the flirting throughout the whole night was so unbearable, you asked her out on a date without a second thought, smiling brightly when she accepted without any hesitation.

you both began to date after a few months, becoming one of the ‘it couples’ around campus when everyone could truly tell how much you were in love with each other.

you went to each other’s games with bright, adoring smiles, wearing each other’s jerseys with pride.

you had study dates together, most of the time getting distracted but neither part was complaining.

you were there for each other throughout all the ups and downs, talking and listening to one another for hours and somehow feeling not enough when you were with each other every second of the day.

you’d both established a career before you even graduated college, star athletes in the making in your respected sports.

you’d do anything for each other, so much so you moved with her to england when she signed her contract to chelsea.

while jessie played for chelsea, you still continued to play hockey in england also. it was hard being away from home but jessie made it all better.

your continual support for each other offering a sense of security that nothing else could. it also helped that you both represented canada nationally, often getting the opportunity to go home together.

the chelsea girls knew you too well, you came to every single game without fail with a bright grin on your face in the ‘fleming’ jersey that was almost worn as much as your own.

“your wife’s here” niamh teases as she warmed up with jessie before a match, the two of you weren’t married, or engaged even, not yet at least but this didn’t stop niamh from wishing you were, knowing how much her best friend adored you.

“where?” jessie grins, stopping all movement and frantically looking for you, niamh directs her head to where you were sitting in the friends and family section and her heart swelled with pride.

you wave at her brightly and she returns it instantly, her face growing warm at the smile you sent her, snapped out of her trance at niamh’s laugh. “such a sap” she smiles, jessie just gives her shoulder a little shove, continuing to warm up.

when the match was over after an easy win, jessie bounded over to you without a second to waste. “hi, baby” you smile as she walked into your arms, the barrier making it a little difficult but you both didn’t care.

“hi, gorgeous” jessie says breathlessly, pulling you into a sweet kiss with her hand on your cheek. you smile against her, your own hand on the side of her neck, your thumb brushing against her skin gently.

“my superstar” you say as you pull away, brushing away some stray hairs from her face before pulling her into a tight hug.

“gotta impress my wag, baby” she says cheekily, kissing your cheek repeatedly to make you giggle, working successfully like it did every time.

“i’m definitely impressed, baby canada” you smile, pressing another quick kiss to her lips as you pulled away slightly.

her hands make her way to your waist, rubbing up and down gently as you chatted, only lasting for a couple of seconds before you ushered her to interact with the fans.

“i’ll see you at home, beautiful” she winks, pecking your lips before running away, shouting a quick “i love you” over her shoulder that you quickly returned before leaving to drive home.

you had an upcoming game, an important one at that. you’d been nervous about it all week, jessie frequently having to calm you down so you could breathe. you were the captain, both for this team and the canada team so a lot of pressure fell on your shoulders.

the only reassurance you had was knowing jessie would be there, even inviting some of her teammates to come and watch you since they had the day off.

jessie wasn’t one to miss an opportunity where she got to ogle her talented girlfriend and show you off at the same time so she was extremely excited.

the morning of, let’s just say it was extremely difficult to get you out of the house.

“what if i fuck up?” you whine, turning from the door and walking back to jessie who was watching you from the doorway. “you won’t” she assures, pinching your cheek softly before turning you around and giving you a soft push to the door.

you turn back around, “what if something goes wrong?” you say nervously, “baby, you’ll be fine, we can deal with it” jessie chuckles, you throw your head back in annoyance.

the people who only knew you from hockey would be shocked to know you did this before every game. they’d be shocked to know how soft you were when it came to your girlfriend.

“i don’t want to go” you groan, jessie draws you in by your waist, her arms wrapped around them securely, “baby, you’ll be amazing, like always” jessie says earnestly, her brown eyes looking directly into yours so you knew she wasn’t lying.

“but you don’t know that” you pout, jessie quickly smiling before pulling you into a sweet kiss.

“i’m your girlfriend, i know everything” she says cheekily, pecking your lips a couple of times and managing to pull a small smile out of you.

“you go do your best, that’s all i want from you” she smiles, her hands now cradling your face as your arms wrap around her. “okay” you breathe out, determined.

smiling before pulling her into a breathless kiss that made both of you feel dizzy, sharing a quick i love you before she had to physically push you out of the house, knowing you’d convince her to stay.

jessie made her way to the arena in your jersey, your number written neatly tiny on her cheek. she was accompanied by niamh, zećira, aggie and hannah.

to say jessie got teased the entire time was an understatement but she didn’t care, she had no shame with the amount of love she had for you.

when you skated out on the ice with the ‘C’ over your heart, you had no ounce of nervousness at all. a complete contrast from the morning.

the truth is, on the ice, you were ruthless, completely contradicting how you were off the ice.

you carried yourself with complete confidence, expecting nothing but the best. you were a little rough but one of the best players and everyone knew it. you didn’t take any bullshit.

you were strategic, smart and calculated. you knew what you were doing and you were the captain both in this league and nationally for a reason. a team leader without fail. a role model, a borderline legend.

jessie and her friends cheered loudly for you when your name was announced on the loudspeaker. jessie watched as you waved around the arena before locking back in, skating around the ice in preparation for the game.

jessie was on the edge of her seat the entire time watching you, scoring 2 points in a short amount of time. you were playing exceptionally well, jessie’s heart swelled with pride but she was extremely nervous how this one player kept trying to rile you up.

she knew you didn’t take any disrespect and knew this girl was about to get her ass handed to her.

the girl was being overly physical with you and you would counter it every time. she was the other captain and knew she’d get thrown into the box if she tried anything too much. her behaviour was surprising.

but the girl continued, having the nerve to be near you every time with something to say every two seconds.

you’d ignore it, having dealt with people more annoying than this but it flipped when she started talking about jessie. your jessie.

she started with the insults about you until she said, “is your girlfriend some sort of puck bunny?” you fucking lost it.

you dropped your stick and both of you break out into a heated fight. fists flying before you grabbed her by her shirt, slamming her into the glass and spitting out words that we’re definitely not family friendly. jessie’s eyes were so wide in shock, never really seeing you in a fight like this before.

“talk about my girlfriend like that again and i’ll shove the puck down your fucking throat” you exclaim, getting pulled back by the referee and getting told to go to the penalty box.

you send a glare to the girl and she falters almost instantly before you skated to the box. you sat down with a huff, arms crossed over your chest as you watched your team dominate the other.

jessie shook her head while she looked at you, niamh and zećira cheering you on throughout the fight and even more now that you were in the box.

when your ten minutes was up, you played the rest of the game with passion, finishing with an easy and well deserved win. jessie ran down to where the change rooms were, her teammates waiting nearby.

jessie watched as you skated off the ice, catching your breath as you quickened your pace to jessie. her face was etched with worry as you approached, watching as you took off your helmet hastily and took out your mouth guard.

“hey, baby” you say brightly, bounding over and wrapping jessie up in a hug, your face instantly tucked into the crook of her neck, your cold nose brushing against her warm skin.

“for someone that just beat the shit out of someone, you’re very happy” she says amusingly, her arms wrapping around you without hesitation.

“she deserved it, trust me on that” and jessie did. you pull away from her at arms length, a cheesy smile plastered on your face as you looked at her.

“are you okay?” she asked, her voice clearly laced with worry, you nodded, kissing jessie’s cheek tenderly as you drew her a little closer.

“i’m fine, love, especially since my biggest fan is here” you grin, “you should see the other guy” you laugh as jessie slaps your shoulder lightly, “cheeky” she chuckles, pulling you into another tight hug in absolute relief you were okay.

you could tell she was on edge because of the circumstances, the hug telling you everything you needed to know. you hugged her tightly, letting her find solace in you and honestly calming you both down.

you wave over at her teammates when she pulls away and chat with them excitedly. you held onto jessie’s hand the entire time you all chatted, thanking them for coming and watching.

“what does that say on your stick?” niamh questions, you smile, moving your hand to show that you’d written jessie’s name with a little heart next to it on your tape, a tradition for you ever since you’d started dating.

“good luck charm” you grin, both of you getting teased for your bright pink cheeks. you say goodbye to them before they leave, turning back to jessie with a sweet smile. this is the side of you she knew the best. an absolute softie.

before you get changed, you draw jessie into another kiss, unable to stop yourself from smiling against her when she whined against your mouth.

you give her an amused expression, seeming as though she was a little riled up about the whole situation. “shut up” she groans, pushing you away by your chest slightly but you came right back, pressing a sweet peck to her lips,

“i didn’t say anything” you mumble against her, squeezing her hips gently before you ran to the change room, wanting to get back home as quick as possible.

let’s just say violence is never the answer but is excusable only for the way your girlfriend reacted to you when you both stepped through the door of your shared apartment.

Señor Dixon Goes To Spain?

Let’s indulge in some wild speculating, based exclusively on hypotheticals and wishful thinking.

Well well well! Daryl might be going to Spain! Excellent choice, it’s a beautiful country, I highly recommend, 10/10. And while it seems to have been officially confirmed just now, it’s not entirely surprising for people who’ve been paying attention.

We heard a reference to Spain already back in TWDDD 1x1 L’âme Perdue, when Isabel showed Daryl around the convent, and they came across a radio. Isabel mentioned that the last person she’d been in contact with was a Spaniard a few months ago:

When seemingly random stuff like this gets brought up, it’s normally fair to assume it’s symbolism or foreshadowing, and I felt pretty certain Spain would come up again sooner or later.

Then later, we meet Losang. He’s the leader of the Nest, and he first came in contact with the nuns and Laurent on his way back from a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. "Compostela" refers to "the field of stars" under which the pilgrims traveled, a reference to the Milky Way.

That certainly tickles my TD brain, concidering how many astronomical references we have had around Beth, such as Sirius and Venus, satellites and eclipses to name a few.

Camino de Santiago to Santiago de Compostela is one of the world's most famous pilgrimages, and can be reached through a number of different routes. Isabel's convent was situated relatively close to the starting point of the French Way:

I have a whole theory in my drafts on potential references to El Camino de Santiago from years ago, which I might have to revisit now. Also, keep in mind that the working title of TWDDD was "Pilgrim":

But the most compelling thing about filming in Spain is an absolutely brilliant discovery made by @galadrieljones back when the final season of FTWD aired. We see Dwight, Morgan and Sherry share a scene, and a series of coordinates were given, supposedly to a P.A.D.R.E repeater station.

In reality, the coordinates corresponded with an area of the Atlantic Ocean near an archipelago called the Canary Islands. The islands, though situated off the coast of west Africa, are Spanish territory, and are famous (and slightly infamous, to be honest) for hordes of pale, vitamin D-deficient, sun-deprived north Europeans like myself as a holiday destination.

The part of it that’s particularly interesting for TD is that the etymology of the word Canary/Canarias shows it is derived from Latin “Canis”, meaning dog.

And as we know, that’s Sirius symbolism. Sirius means return/rebirth/resurrection. It refers to Sirius the Dog Star, who returns to the sky one morning right before dawn, after having been “just gone” for some time. I've written many posts on that, here's one.

There’s even a particular type of dog breed that’s associated with the Canary Islands, Presa Canario:

As a fun fact, in TWDDD season 1, Daryl’s original plan to get home involved getting on a boat that would eventually take him to Newfoundland, Canada. That’s also a dog reference, it refers to Newfoundland dogs:

As I’ve been saying, dog symbolism is Sirius symbolism, we learned that from 4x13 Alone. It means return/rebirth/resurrection. Daryl’s plans to return via Newfoundland fell through when he had to save Laurent from walkers, but the symbolism of it is still valid.

And as an extra fun fact, there’s even a location on Newfoundland, Canada, with the name Canary Islands…

Another really interesting thing about the Canary Islands is that they provide an excellent starting point for transatlantic crossings. This is due to the consistent trade winds that blow from east to west, and sailors have taken advantage of this phenomenon for centuries.

Of course, we don’t know if Daryl will make it to the Canary Islands, and even if he doesn’t, I’m still exited about Spain, for the reasons laid out above. But the potential reference to the Canary Islands through the coordinates from FTWD is a super interesting clue, and it involves dog/Sirius symbolism, which makes me very happy.

Also, the coordinates from FTWD supposedly led to a repeater station, which is a radio reference. That means, the repeater station is a Sirius symbol both as a radio reference, as well as a dog reference, in that the coordinates in reality points to a stretch of ocean near the Canary Islands.

Whatever the coordinates were meant to signify, they sure as hell didn’t point to no repeater station in Georgia.

So yeah. Might be nothing, but could be something. The off-season is for speculating.

Gregory, instead of acquiring the Faz cam from Monty golf, acquires a reinforced golf club, i'm pretty sure what happens next is very obvious.

Another prompt from ao3, this one from Canada W.E, and it’s number 47 of the tumblr generated prompts! Man, this one was fun to write.

Hole in One

See, it might not have been a problem if it had been one of the standard golf clubs for the guests. Those ones bent easily if smacked against a rock. But Gregory didn’t find one of the normal ones, no, he got his hands on one of the special, heavy-duty, reinforced golf clubs that were made specifically to withstand Monty’s strength.

So the animatronics were doomed, basically.

Gregory skidded around a corner and immediately stopped, holding his breath as he waited. He listened to the creaking sound of Moon prowling closer and wound up with his golf club, holding it like a baseball bat.

The second those creepy red eyes came into view, Gregory put all his strength into his swing. The crash of metal against metal reverberated through his arms, but it was so worth it for the way Moon’s head full-on spun around with a horrible crack. The animatronic stumbled back with a raspy shout. His hands shot up to his backwards head. Gregory took off with a panicky but victorious little cackle, high on adrenaline and unwilling to stick around long enough for Moon to regain his bearings.

Hell yeah. Taking the golf club had been a fantastic decision. This one felt heavier, more solid, than the other ones he’d poked at. Screw a camera; this was how you did self-defense.

He glanced back only when he had to wait for the elevator, and Gregory immediately burst into giggles at the sight of Moon waving his hands around in front of him, his head still facing the wrong way.

Chica was his next victim. She had him cornered near the kitchen, where so many of the dumb doors were locked and needed a security pass higher than the one he’d snatched. She was taller than Moon and didn’t hunch over the way he had, so Gregory zeroed in on her vulnerable knees.

She seemed to catch on to his intentions too late, only managing to come to a stop as her eyes widened. The knee he made contact with popped sideways so violently that her entire leg collapsed out from under her, taking her straight to the floor with a screech.

He leapt over her prone body while she was distracted and fled the scene of the crime with no small amount of glee.

The STAFF bots took the majority of his attacks. They were, he’d discovered, actually weirdly fragile, so long as you attacked higher than their base. Their arms and necks snapped easily with a good, solid thwack.

One of them managed to sound the alarm before he could decapitate it. That didn’t stop him from decapitating it, of course. The head sailed through the air and landed in a startled Freddy’s hands.

“Gregory!” he cried, and it was unclear whether he was disapproving or just shocked. He dropped the head like it was diseased.

Roxy burst through a door at the end of the huge hall. Now, Gregory might have been mad with golf-club related power, but he wasn’t stupid. Roxy could lunge fast and hard, and unless he was able to sneak up on her, he’d be leaving her alone.

Freddy’s stomach hatch opened as Gregory beelined for Freddy. “Hold this, please,” he said, thrusting the golf club at his protector.

He climbed in, leaving Freddy stiffly holding the golf club and eyeing it warily. “It is… an interesting choice of weapon,” he said after a moment.

Ahead, Roxy turned away now that Gregory was safely out of sight. He snickered. “I’m gonna keep it as a souvenir,” Gregory told him.

Freddy made an alarmed noise, but he seemed to realize that he had no real say in Gregory’s crimes against robots and/or humanity. He briefly contemplated going after Vanny, then decided if she made herself into a nuisance, he’d take action. If she was smart and stayed away, she could keep her bones intact.

Nothing beat his attack against Monty. Nothing.

It’d been luck that he’d managed to knock Monty off the catwalk with one of the gondolas over the mini-golf course, and it’d been luck that he’d managed to race down there before Monty could get up.

Slowly raising to his knees, a cacophony of modem screeches coming from somewhere in Monty’s body handily covered up the sound of Gregory’s rapid approach. Positioned behind Monty, Gregory swung at his head, and the golf club connected with a tremendous and satisfying clang.

Between the damage from fall and Gregory’s attack, one of Monty’s eyeballs popped free of its socket, rocketed halfway across the green, bounced twice, rolled a bit down a slight incline, and sank into the hole.

Propped up on one hand, Monty stared, frozen. The virus in Monty’s head, pretty thoroughly short-circuited from “brain damage,” fizzled and deactivated. Behind him, Gregory began to vibrate with destructive joy.

“All right, all right,” Monty said, sounding defeated but also impressed, “that was pretty cool.” He sat down the rest of the way with a grunt and lifted one of his hands. “Rock on, lil guy.”

Gregory high-fived him with a whoop. Oh, he couldn’t wait to tell Freddy.

Kaplan-Myrth: COVID is back, so let's take care of ourselves and others - Published Aug 1, 2024

The numbers are up, and when September rolls around, we will be vulnerable again. Let's not be complacent about protection.

Two weeks ago, I tested positive for COVID-19. Last week, I cancelled patients in my medical clinic because I was too sick to work.

For anyone who is counting, that is my fourth infection. Never from work — even when I see patients who are COVID-19 positive — because I require masks at all times in clinic to keep staff and patients safe. This infection was from an extended family gathering at which we let down our guard.

Article content “A couple at the party tested positive for COVID-19,” my uncle informed me the day after his 70th birthday party. Although I spent most of the time outside on a patio, I ventured inside a few times to see relatives who were more comfortable in the air-conditioning, as did my husband and children, and we forgot to mask. What was meant to be a happy reunion was sullied by each of us, one by one, testing positive.

It is summer 2024, and we are inundated again with sick patients as COVID-19 levels surge across Canada.

We are all sick and tired of COVID-19. I do not want to hear that a patient goes into hospital for surgery and gets COVID-19 pneumonia, or that children or seniors are coughing to the point that they vomit. For some people the symptoms seem milder, but we know that the effects of COVID are cumulative and unpredictable, that it can cause damage to the heart, lungs, brain, vascular and endocrine system, even with mild symptoms, and can lead to serious long-term disability.

Physicians are writing medical notes for leaves of absence for months or years for previously healthy young patients who have brain fog, fatigue or heart arrhythmias and chronic shortness of breath.

Article content Happily, because many people are up to date with their latest COVID-19 vaccine, far fewer are dying from COVID-19 now than early in the pandemic. However, the vaccine does not prevent people from spreading COVID-19, and many people are still highly vulnerable: infants, seniors, people with disabilities, people who are immunocompromised.

COVID-19 is airborne and highly contagious. Ottawa Public Health issued a reminder this week to Ottawans to use “all layers of protection” against it. That includes vaccine (and boosters as appropriate); improved ventilation and use of HEPA filters in workplaces; masking indoors and in crowded outdoor gatherings; use of rapid antigen tests; and avoiding others when contagious. Caution:

Do not to be fooled by false-negative Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs); assume you have COVID-19 if you have close contacts who test positive and/or have symptoms. Swab the inside of your mouth as well as your nose. If possible, retest at day five, seven, and 10, and do not forget that you could be contagious for up to 14 days.

Waste-water testing will continue in Ottawa, thanks to advocacy from public health, but in many places across Ontario and Canada people will have no way to make informed decisions.

Article content Donatemask.ca is a non-profit organization in Canada that helps distribute masks and RATs to those who cannot access or afford them. Unfortunately, workplaces are pushing employees to work at the office, are reluctant to provide adequate medical leave, and encourage people who are sick to return prematurely.

Ottawa Public Health’s 2021 pinned post says, “We’re all experiencing this differently. Don’t compare yourself to others. Don’t compare it to ‘how it was before.’ Just do the best you can, and if that varies from one day to the next, that’s ok.”

When OPH wrote that in 2021, there was still a sentiment that we were “in this together,” although even then we were not doing enough for the most vulnerable. My 2024 caveat: If we set our societal baseline as consideration of the wellbeing of others, then we can accept that individually we will be imperfect.

COVID-19 tearing through the community now is not the end of this. When September rolls around, we will be vulnerable again. So, I gently remind you to use the preventative tools at your disposal to take care of yourselves and each other.

Yukon Heritage Day

Yukon Heritage Day brings the history and culture of the smallest of Canada’s three territories to the forefront of public attention, on the Friday before the last Sunday in February. Schools and Yukon government offices close, while business owners have the option of giving employees time off.

The day is designed to coincide with The Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous, a festival in Yukon’s capital, Whitehorse. The event specifically revolves around the Yukon Gold Rush period of the 1890’s, featuring a “Queen” contest, sled dog races, air shows, and snow sculpture contests. Sounds like a chilly but fun time!

History of Yukon Heritage Day

Back in 1975, the Canadian government enacted one of their Collective Agreements — complicated government edicts around union behaviors and other labor rules — which included making Yukon Heritage Day a territorial holiday during which public institutions would close. So of course, in February 1976, the holiday saw its first celebration. Other than time off work and school, the biggest deal about Yukon Heritage Day is that it most often coincides with the Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous.

The Sourdough Rendezvous is held in the capital, Whitehorse. Since the holiday falls in February and Yukon is just east of Alaska, it’s quite cold! But Yukon residents tough it out for the chance to be a part of the giant festival. In 2020, the Rendezvous saw its 55th convening. It’s sponsored by many major Canadian businesses, and grows in scope and attendance every year.

Even Yukoners that can’t make it to Whitehorse still get to enjoy a day off to think about their culture and history, one highlight of which is the Klondike Gold Rush of the late 19th century that saw approximately 100,000 gold prospectors descend on that region of Yukon. We don’t know if there’s still “gold in them thar hills,” but we can tell you that this is really a precious day.

Pulling their weight: In part because the Canadian government required every incoming prospector to bring a year’s worth of food to prevent starvation, the typical prospector’s equipment weighed close to a ton, which they had to move in phases.

Not a second to turn around: Some of the “boom towns” that saw thousands of gold-seekers come through had their populations increase by as much as 6,000 percent.

History is a fruitful topic of study: As the popular saying goes, “You don’t know where you’re going if you don’t know where you’ve been.” It’s a facile way of saying that a deeper knowledge of a region’s history — the events, the people — can be beneficial in many ways, not to mention impressive!

Swedish government confirms that Ukrainian pilots will be trained on JAS39 Gripen aircraft

The Swedish government decided on a new support package for Ukraine, which was presented at a meeting with the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in Brussels on June 15, 2023.

This was reported by the government press service.

"The support includes contributions to funds totaling SEK 230 million (US$ 21.4 million) and allocations to the Swedish Armed Forces, in particular for the JAS39 Gripen, and a solution for the supply of donated military equipment. The total amount of this twelfth support package is approximately SEK 250 million (US$ 23 million),” the government said.

In particular, the Swedish Armed Forces were in charge of introductory training for Ukrainian pilots and associated aviation personnel in the JAS39 Gripen fighter.

“The background is that the Ukrainian armed forces have expressed requests for the possibility of an operational evaluation of JAS39, since one of the most urgent measures is to strengthen the Ukrainian air defense system with a modern combat aviation complex,” the government said.

In addition, the government decided that the armed forces would implement the decision to provide military equipment to Ukraine.

It should be noted that, since 2022, Sweden has delivered a large number of different types of equipment systems, while Swedish maintenance support has been limited to the preparation of equipment for further transport to Ukraine.

“However, more qualified weapons and sensor systems require a long-term supply solution, including technical support for systems, spare parts, as well as ammunition to maintain operational efficiency over time. Therefore, the armed forces intend to develop a long-term solution for the supply of qualified material systems, such as Robotsystem 70, Stridsfordon 90, Stridsvagn 122 and Archer, which were donated to Ukraine. The supply system is being created as a result of cooperation between the Armed Forces, the Department of Defense Equipment and the current Swedish industry," the government said.

In May, Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson announced the training of several Ukrainian pilots at JAS39 Gripen in response to a request from the Ukrainian side without mentioning his provision.

The Ukrainian government repeatedly sought assistance from several countries, including Sweden, for fighter aircraft. The requests were made in the summer of 2022 and, in February 2023, the Ukrainian Minister of Defense, Oleksii Reznikov, expressed Ukraine's desire to have the JAS39 Gripen.

Conspiracy theories are a new way to go for those who don't want to take personal responsibility. Local and worldwide, many create or support adult fairy tales to avoid federal criminal charges or the consequences of waging an aggressive war. This trend has also been noticeable in the Hip-Hop industry. Boosie Badazz blamed Russian hackers after publicly suggesting Lil Nas X kills himself. Ye found himself complaining about TikTok destroying his family. Drake Has Bad Lyrics And Hangs Out With The Wrong Crowd One of XXXTentacion's murder suspects, Dedrick Williams, and his attorney claim Drake's involvement with the murder of the "Look At Me" author. The reason? "Despite the of Mr. Onfroy , Mr. Graham has consistently written lyrics in his music after the murder that the defense believes relates to the decedent. The lyrics include but not limited to the following: On the track On BS on Drake's newest album her loss album he has a lyric where it is believed he refers to XXX..." On top of having accusingly suspicious lyrics, Drake, at least in the eyes of Williams' attorney, has questionable friends and fans. The attorney explained that Top5, a supposed member of a Canadian street gang and Drake's alleged acquaintance, "appeared on a podcast by DJ Akademiks and declared openly 'I am Drake's shooter. I'm not lying. Anyone disrespect Drake, I am shooting.' That was said openly and aired for millions to view on DJ Akademiks' podcast." The prosecutor suspected an attempt to set a trial by ambush; The list included many random people, including those residing internationally. Also, none of the alleged witnesses, like 6ix9ine, had listed addresses or a contact to send a subpoena. Padilla explained that the alleged witnesses "are high-profile people. After my chat with Simon Claymore, I got up and went to the clearing, to warm up and trained with everybody.

We did a run, hand to hand combat, mind over body exercises, Ellis had shown the group a new fighting technique they would use in there human form, for if they didn't have time to change and then we went for our last run around Lake Marshall.

"Good job man... but I gotta ask... where's Alpha Silas?" Ellis asked, coming up behind me and patting me on the back.

He left his hand on my neck for few seconds, before moving it back to his side.

I just shrugged, not really knowing or caring where the Alpha was.

He could be out 'releasing his stress' by fucking someone else for all I cared.

Though I knew he wasn't because I would feel the bond being torn.

It was almost funny, when he had sex with Lucca, I would feel the strain but it didn't feel like it was damaged.

It made sense now that I know he didn't know I was his mate.

So I could only imagine the pain I would feel, if he willingly slept with someone else.

I made my way to the I.T. room I had that gut feeling again, that one the churned my stomach, like a child's nerves at a Christmas concert.

I took a deep breath to try and rid the feelings and after a few minutes, it finally subsided and I made my way inside the room.

Everything was as it was left yesterday.

My desk chair was pulled out, Silas' chair was beside mine.

My computer was turned off and Quinton and Darcy looked as if they haven't moved an inch, as well.

"Anything on Silas' cell-phone Quinton?" I asked, as I sat down in my chair and turned my computer on.

"Nothing really. I tracked the number to a disposable phone that was activated in New York but it was activated two months ago. The text went through eighteen different systems but I can't seem to find what one the text first stemmed from. The closest signal from here was about three towns over. I told Simon about it this morning. He talked to Ellis and they're sending someone up there, now."

"Why wasn't I told about this?" I asked, getting a little frustrated, at the fact no one bothered to say anything to me.

"Silas came in at about three. I told him everything and then he talked to Ellis and then with Simon. I though Alpha would pass it on to you as well."

I roll my eyes and started typing into my computer.

I was able to get most of the pack files onto it, so I wouldn't have to worry about losing papers.

I also have everything backed up on my computer in my office.

Plus on three USB's that I have in three different spots.

That was a tip from Simon.

After half an hour of going through email's, the office door swung open and none-other then Silas, came in.

He doesn't even spare me a glance.

He just walks straight over to Darcy.

"Anything on Lucca Miethke's family ties yet?" he asks crossing his arms over his chest.

The air around him in thick and would make any normal person run the other way from him.

Darcy nods her head and opens something on her computer.

"So," she starts off.

"Lucca Miethke is a fourth generation American from Ohio state. His family is originally from Canada and Russia. His Mother, Polina was an immigrant from Russia but she had no living relatives. Her and his father Thomas had Lucca and Alistair. Lucca was the only survivor of a raid, besides an Omega named Snow. He was taken in by a pack up North."

"Thomas Miethke has step-sister, Emily. Who lives in Alberta with her mate and two kids but she's been low on the raider. She even lives in Calgary, which is weird since most werewolves prefer Jasper or Banff," Darcy went on to say Lucca had no known contact with his Aunt, they had hacked into his computer and saw no messages between the two.

"The only thing Lucca really did on his laptop was play Face-book games."

I looked over to Silas.

He looked tired, his skin was pale and his hair was flat on his head, like it had no life to it.

His eyes skimmed over the words on Darcy's laptop, he just nodded his head along with what was being said.

His normally relaxed shoulders were tense and ridged.

He looked worse then he did yesterday.

I rolled my eyes and looked back at the computer.

If he thought coming in here and making me feel guilty was going to work, he was wrong.

I wasn't some school-girl that couldn't handle the silent treatment.

I looked around my desk and let out a groan.

"I left a file in my office. I'll be right back," and with that I left and went up to the office.

Opening my office door, I was greeted to my polished oak desk but it was what was behind the desk that made my fingers curl into a fist.

Behind my desk sat a young boy, with medium length brown hair pulled back into a pony tail and olive skin, no more then twelve, he was digging through my desk drawer like he owned it.

He hadn't noticed me standing in the doorway and what got me was I couldn't get a scent off him.

I cleared my throat and watched as he nearly touched the roof with his head.

His blue eyes stared widely at me.

I could see his nerves, shaking in his hands.

'Like a deer caught in the headlights.'

"Now, I'm going to ask you nicely. What are you doing?"

The boy shook his head.

Then looked around franticly, looking for what I could only assume was a way out.

I took a step towards him as I took my cell-phone out of my pocket.

I texted Silas a quick '911' before putting it back in my pocket and looked at the boy.

"Alright, lets try this again."

I stepped closer and he pressed himself to the wall behind him.

"How many people, are in this building, that shouldn't be right now?"

The boy held up one shaky finger then pointed towards himself and that was the last thing he did before his eyes rolled back into his head and he slumped forwards, into my arms.

'Great.'

I lifted up the boy so he was laying over both my arms.

Like a bride who had to many shots at her wedding and turned around, just in time to see Silas and Quinton run into the door way.

They both had wide eyes, Silas looked like he was ready to rip someone's limbs apart.

"Who the hell is that?"

"Oh you know just some kid I took in... fed... let break into my office and steal my stuff. You know, the regular stuff," I said with a shrug.

Apparently Silas doesn't know how to take sarcasm as he glares at me.

"I just found him going through my desk drawers. The kid just passed out on me. He can't be very old. I don't know who's crazy enough to send him in here alone, when we're all here..."

"I'll call Ellis have him set up a team to check the building and surrounding. Quinton go back and check the security cameras. I'll do a sweep of all the offices. Take him to the infirmary."

I huffed and pushed past the two in the door, bumping my should with the Alpha's on my way out.

I let it slide that he didn't have someone else take the kid.

Like my senses we're as good as his.

'His panties were in a knot and I was being mature and letting him have his moment.'
