The Sweetest Choice (Skies of Arcadia, Vyse/Aika/Fina)

Another 3-Sentence Ficathon prompt fill.

Skies of Arcadia, Vyse/Aika/Fina. Contains written sex, no images.

The three of them made love for the first time that night, drunk on Loqua flavored with every fruit under the moons, currants and berries and mangoes - they had traveled all through Arcadia, gathering a few treats, now and then, and none of them could have imagined a better reason to enjoy them now than saving the world. Fina wasn't just celebrating that they'd won the battle, as their victory had been bittersweet for her (how could the boy who'd once been her closest friend had fallen so far?) but also that she didn't have to go back to the Silver Moon - she could *stay* there, with Vyse and Aika, sailing the skies, holding hands under the moonlight, and yes, even this, enjoying the press of their bodies against her, stroking Vyse's short hair as he licked and kissed between her legs, gasping as Aika's fingers found and pressed a sensitive spot inside of her that made her shudder and moan and her legs twitch - and she could feel Vyse laugh, one hand moving to hold down her leg, lest she knee him in the face by mistake. She could stay with them, now, she heard Aika say into her ear - she could stay with both of them, they were all adults now and they'd proven themselves a dozen times over, they could do what they wanted and love who they wanted and if she and Vyse both wanted to love Fina, that was their prerogative - and somehow that's the thing that thrills her the most, not the pleasant buzz of alcohol or the sweetness of their lovemaking, but the knowledge that this could be her choice, and at that moment - for a long time, really - she couldn't think of any other choice she'd rather make.

Multiamory March: Folk

I honestly do not know how much I’ll do this year, but if I can write a few things when I’m not worn out by work, then yay.

Skies of Arcadia, Vyse/Aika/Fina. I’m using a random word generator for prompts and the prompt today was Folk.

Aika realizes before she opens her eyes that her bedmates are missing. She had fallen asleep with Vyse resting on her left and Fina on her right, and now she was alone. Strange - they were on vacation, she didn’t think they’d go out without her.

She opens her eyes, sees Fina and Vyse standing at the window. They are staring intently down at the something, but she can’t see what, not from that angle. She must have sighed or something, because Fina sees her and gestures to her excitedly. “Aika! Come, look! They’re dancing!”

“Dancing?” She gets up, smoothing down her green pajamas, and sleepily shuffles over to join them. 

“Yes, look!” Fina took her wrist quickly and pointed down at the square. It had been Fina’s idea to go to Yafutoma. Moegi had said that they were going to have a festival in honor of the start of their prime fishing season. Things had been more somber when they’d first visited the nation, and Vyse had quickly agreed. Aika hadn’t really been too worried about where they were going, so she was just fine with being where they both wanted to be. 

Sure enough, there were people dancing in the square. The music was faint, even close to the window - Fina’s ears were sharper than Vyse and Aika’s, and she must have heard something. And Vyse was a light sleeper... unlike Aika. That at least explained why Aika had been the last to notice.

Aika didn’t recognize the steps, but the costumes were eye catching. Both men and women were dressed in scaled costumes and waving veils behind them. “Wow!” she says, staring down as they wove together.”Dances back home are nothing like that.” 

“It’s an old folk dance,” Vyse said. “I talked with Moegi a bit to find out what we could expect. She said they do dances like this morning and night. One to wake the fish for a good catch, the other to put them to sleep so that they don’t get eaten by the predators. They dry them and salt them to store throughout the year.” 

“Mmm. Reminds me of some of the old sailor superstitions back home.” She puts an arm around Vyse’s waist. Fina lets go of her wrist so that Aika can take her hand, and she gladly does, holding it gently. “It’s way too early to be dancing like that -” She’s interrupted by a yawn, as if to drive the point home. “Too early,” she repeats. “But it’s pretty.” 

“You’re just not much of a morning person,” Vyse chuckles. 

“Like you’d go out there and join them,” Aika ribs gently.

“Well... yeah, probably not.” Vyse chuckles. “Still. We should try to see one of the dances up close.”

“We can go to bed early,” Fina agrees. “We can do that tomorrow - but only if we go back to bed when they’re done dancing. We flew for hours last night and I’m exhausted!” Aika yawned again, as if talking about how tired she was just made her more tired. 

“Yes... that does seem fair.” Fina squeezes her hand. “Look - I think they’re slowing down.” 

Aika looked again - sure enough the dance was starting to slow now, with more careful steps and less wild waving of veil-fins. The group broke apart and rejoined like a school of fish, rotating slowly, before they finally came to a stop. She could see more people watching, people dressed up in comfortable clothes, most of them wearing waders - probably the fishermen, she figured. They’d have to ask later. 

“Okay,” she says when the dance stops. “Can we... can we go back to sleep now? Please?” 

“Well, we did agree,” Vyse said. He looks at Fina, shrugging good-naturedly. Vyse hadn’t actually agreed to anything, as Aika recalled, but apparently he was okay with Fina speaking for them on this one. 

Fina didn’t answer, just smiled. She led Aika back to bed, with Vyse following behind. The three of them were quickly curled up under the covers again, the curtain blocking out the growing light, and Aika smiled as she nestled between them again. This was going to be a good vacation.

"Oh, Fina! Look at the darling little puppies!"

Shopping in the Bazaar with Aika could be a disorienting experience at times. One minute they'd been admiring some brocade draperies. The next, Aika had taken Fina by the hand and pulled her over to a side booth, where a group of five small, fluffy puppies sat in a small box. The sign above them said Free to good home in crudely-drawn lettering.

"Where did they come from?" Fina wondered aloud, looking around. Someone would've taken notice of them by now, if they'd been anywhere else in the bazaar. "Are they all abandoned?"

"Probably! I mean, this happens sometimes," Aika said, with her eyes still glued to the huskra pups. Their coats had already started to grow, and a couple of them were panting in the hot sun. "Probably someone's huskra had a litter, and they won't let them keep them." She looked up at Fina, with her most determined expression. It had once scared Fina a little, before she'd gotten to know Aika better. "We have to take them home," she said. "We have to!"

"But..." Fina started, but then shook her head. They were awfully cute, once you got used to them. It had taken her a long time - they were nothing like Cupil, with their fuzzy coats that left hair everywhere they went and their tendency to slobber over everything. But the way they wagged their tails when they were happy to see them was always endearing, and they were almost always happy to see her. "Well," she said. "we need to make sure that they are healthy. You remember what happened before, right?"

"Yeah, the worms." Aika grimaced. That had been pretty awful. Fina had thought that they'd never hear the end of it from Lawrence, after Pow had caught them; it had taken a month before they'd taken care of them all. "It won't happen again, okay? I learned my lesson! We'll get them looked at before we go, and make sure that we get their medicine. Besides, we have plenty of room on Crescent Isle, and lots of food for them." The look she gave Fina was maybe tinged with a little bit of hurt. "You know I wouldn't want to take them if I didn't think we could handle them, right?"

"I know," Fina said, but couldn't help but smile. Aika came across as flighty sometimes, but she had a good heart. Fina had known that almost from the start. And she had to admit, the more she knew about huskras, the less she liked the thought of them growing up in the desert; they were supposed to live in colder places, and it just wasn't very comfortable for them. "Let's get them examined before we leave, and get some treats for them."

"Right, right. We don't want to worry Vyse this time!" Aika already had the box of squirming pups in her arms. "Let's hurry, okay? These little guys don't want to stay still!"

(Later, back at home, Vyse would laugh at the scene of Aika and Fina sitting hand-in-hand in front of the lake on Crescent Isle and playing with their healthy, happy new pets. It really was just like them, he'd say later. Only those two could go to Nasrad to buy curtains and come home with a box full of huskra pups..)
