20 questions for fic writers
tagged by @mylittleredgirl, who has been a good cheerleader friend for like 20 years now. That's wild.
1. How many works do you have on Ao3? 428.
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count? 2,852,289
3. What fandoms do you write for?
112 - Once Upon a Time (though not lately),
81 - Star Trek the Next Generation,
78 - Star Trek Discovery,
75 - Star Trek Voyager,
42 - Agents of SHIELD.
And many others. The forecast is for Discovery to take the top slot.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Two really long (100k plus) Once Upon a Time babyfics, one Game of Thrones little what if one shot where Catelyn saves the book, one little femslashy Game of Thrones oneshot with really nice poetic language, and a Once Upon a Time Dragon Queen babyfic that might be one of the best things I've ever written.
(Write a really long fic in the most popular ship of a pretty big femslash fandom and one goes get a LOT of kudos).
5. Do you respond to comments?
I try. I get tired, I mean to respond. I forget, I get overwhelmed. I'm trying. I have... 2507 unread comments on Ao3 going back over 8 years. I'm not doing terribly well, but I try.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
When I the starry courses know Star Trek Voyager: Kathryn Janeway/Borg Queen.
Janeway sacrifices herself to the Borg to save her crew. It's pretty dark.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Most of them? Without Knowing How, perhaps, because characters who were dead in canon wake up in an AU where they're married, happy, and have a baby, and they're really sweet in how they just roll with it. (Philippa Georgiou/Katrina Cornwell, Star Trek Discovery).
8. Do you get hate on fics?
not really...once someone wrote a fic about how much they hated a threesome I was writing (a few other people were them too, and it was fun). Once Upon a Time was a wild fandom. I did take it very personally at the time.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
sometimes, I prefer foreplay and flirting and all the things that come after the smut. Smut does lead to babies sometimes though so...I have to write it. Sometmes I'm in the mood and sometimes I'm not.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Stargate Atlantis and Star Trek the Next Generation, which was nice, all the characters are kind and thoughtful and the tech going back and forth was fun.
Hilariously that fic got linked on some forum about starships where they critiqued my starship combat.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I have not.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I have! There are a few on ao3.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
A livejournal friend and I cowrote two Janeway/Chakotay fics, back in the day, and they were so fun. They're very soft.
I was Janeway, B'Elanna, Seven and Tuvok. She was Chakotay, Tom Paris, the Doctor and Harry Kim.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
Kathryn Janeway/Beverly Crusher probably? All time is hard. I'm much more of a "current time" person.
Currently it's Michael Burnham/Laira Rillak.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have the following WIPs
Universe Travelling 4 year old causes chaos and romance.
Michael rescues her sick girlfriend.
Quantum - (the baby's here, so...how do they go back to work...I need to reread the whole thing to make sure I have all the threads)
Michael gets pon farr.
The first two are for year of the OTP so I have until December 2024 to finish them. I like they, there's a good bit written of both, so that's likely.
Quantum owns my soul, so I will finish that, but it might be slow. I get distracted.
Pon Farr I am working on today! so I feel good.
16. What are your writing strengths?
long character arcs. Dialogue. Soft things with gentle emotions and slow plot.
Character goes on a long emotional journey while she is pregnant and then gives birth under unpredictable circumstances, while being loved and supported. is my thing. It could be on the tin containing my fic.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Description. I don't see things. I don't bother. My fics take place in a void where costumes and setting are barely mentioned.
I don't write intensity, or plot that moves quickly. I get distracted by world building and OCs.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I don't do it. I usually write something about how "she said in Vulcan" or something. I speak some German, some Mandarin, I might try that if I have a native speaker to help me, but likely not.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Star Trek the Next Generation!! I handwrote a self insert fic into my journal as a child. I think I was middle school aged.
I wrote a bunch of Sunset Beach on forums, then Star Trek the Next Geration, and one of my oldest internet published fics is on Ao3. That fic turns 23 this year.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Ever ever?
Right this moment it's...migrations and other recurring phenomena because I keep rereading it and I like it.
Michael and Laira are trapped in a turbolift and they look after each other, then they flirt and make out and have sex and the desire to have sex is really well done.
Next time I do this meme it might be different, but right now. I really love that one.
(it also does not get enough love, it's good, dammit).

It is a character in Star Trek: Discovery, which appears in the Prime Universe (the original universe in the Star Trek universe) and the Mirror Universe (mirror universe/parallel universe), respectively. In other words, there are two people named Philippa Giorgio.
At the beginning of Season 1, he appears as the captain of the USS Shenzhou. As the direct superior and mentor of the main character, Michael Burnham, she cared for and trusted Michael as if she were her own daughter. However, during the Battle of the Binary System, which sparked the Planetary Federation-Klingon War, she tried to capture the Klingon leader Tikubma alive. Her Philippa's death left a great shock and guilt to Michael, who proposed the operation to capture her alive.
Later in season 1, she appears as the fearsome Emperor of the Earth Empire, who has conquered the Mirror Universe, where she meets Michael. As the rebellion breaks out, buying Michael time to escape, she fights like an emperor at the same time and goes to the final battle alone, saying she will die, but is dragged into the Prime universe by Michael to live a new life for her. In Season 2, she acts as an agent for Section 31, Star Fleet's secret intelligence agency, subtly helping Michael behind her back. In Season 3, she and the crew of the Discovery cross over to the 32nd century, she gets a time sickness and she gets off by going alone to another time zone. She appears to have dropped out to appear in Star Trek: Section 31, which was supposed to be made into a Star Trek: Discovery spin-off TV series (eventually decided to be made into a movie rather than a TV series).
For reference, the real name of Philippa Georgiou Augustus Iaponius Centarius in the mirror universe is Philippa Georgiou Augustus Iaponius Centarius, where Iaponius means Japanese in Latin.[1]USS Shenzhou While serving as the captain of the Vulcan Ambassador Sarek, he accepted Michael Burnham, Sarek's ward and adopted daughter, as an officer.[2] Philippa and Michael worked together at Shenzhou Lake for 7 years, building deep trust through mentor-mentee and mother-daughter relationships, not just superior-subordinate relationships.[3] Michael displayed very good abilities and became a first mate, the equivalent of a second captain, within seven years of his commission, and Philippa was even thinking of promoting Michael to captain sooner or later.
However, when the Shenzhou ship went on a mission to a binary star system on the border of the Planetary Federation, she encountered Klingon ships that had not been in contact with the Federation for nearly 100 years. Looking at various circumstances, Michael judged that the divided Klingons were trying to join forces and start a war against the planetary federation, and insisted that the Klingons be preemptively attacked to prevent an all-out war. However, Philippa opposes the preemptive strike, which goes against the spirit and rules of Starfleet. Then, Michael thought that saving Philippa and the others was more important than Starfleet rules, so he stunned Philippa with a nub pinch and tried to strike first. However, Philippa soon wakes up and puts Michael in a brothel for mutiny on board.
Shortly thereafter, a merciless attack by the Klingons destroyed much of the Shenzhou, killed many crew members, and sunk or inevitably self-destructed other Starfleet ships that had come to assist the Shenzhou. Knowing that she cannot defeat the Klingons in a head-to-head fight, Philippa contemplates committing a suicide attack by charging into the Klingon ship with a small spaceship carrying a nuclear warhead herself. However, when the Klingons attack, Michael, who was presumed dead, appears after escaping from the stockade [4], claiming that an all-out war can only be prevented by capturing the Klingon leader Ti Kub Ma alive. He then infiltrates a Klingon ship with Michael to capture Tikubma.
However, he is killed while fighting Tiku Bma on a Klingon ship. At that time, Michael ran to the collapsed Philippa to take at least Philippa's body. However, Saru, who was on the Shenzhou, judged that even Michael could be in danger, so he hurriedly sent Michael, so Philippa's body was not taken by a narrow margin. In Episode 4 of Season 1, it is revealed that the Klingons have eaten what was left of Philippa's body.
Michael is sentenced to life imprisonment and imprisoned for attacking his superior, Philippa, attempting to seize command of the Shenzhou, and inciting a war. However, only six months later, Gabriel Lorca, the captain of the USS Discovery, said that Michael was needed to develop the spore drive, and Michael was qualified as a scientific expert to board the Discovery.[5]

The “If I Fought This Star Trek Discovery Character, Would I Win?” Post
Michael Burnham
End Fight Probability: There is a 1000% chance Michael knocks you out.
Listen. Michael has seen some shit. She killed a Klingon in hand-to-hand combat, in an EVA suit, by accident. She’s been to prison, she’s been to the mirror universe where she had to win a surprise knife fight in an elevator, she spent a year as a courier getting chased by the Emerald Chain. Even if you best her in physical strength, she can outwit you with her razor-sharp mind honed by years of Sarek’s disapproving perfectionism. Also, she’s got main character powers. You don’t stand a chance. Do not fight Michael Burnham.
Saru
End Fight Probability: There is a 300% chance Saru knocks you out.
No. Please no. You might think he’s a pushover and you can startle him into submission like one of those fainting goats, but the man can run like a gazelle and crush communicators with his bare hands, and that was BEFORE he went through double puberty and lost the ability to fear death. Don’t let his friendly exterior fool you. He’s 8 feet tall and can shoot spikes out of his face. If you even look at him he'll stomp you to death with his hooves. Please don’t fight Saru.
Sylvia Tilly
End Fight Probability: There is a 50% chance Tilly knocks you out.
Sure, you could fight Tilly, but why would you want to? She's a ray of fucking sunshine, you heartless bastard! Plus when she gets cornered she will remind you why the Terrans call her Captain Killy. And you’re going to end up with Admiral Vance, the entire crew of Discovery, and a horde of pissed-off Starfleet cadets on your ass. Don’t bother trying to fight Tilly.
Paul Stamets
End Fight Probability: There is a 0% chance Paul knocks you out.
Yeah, you could absolutely beat Paul Stamets, but you really shouldn't. Paul doesn't want to fight anyone. He's so tired. He just wants to hang out in engineering with his tools and his mushrooms and his alien children. He's been shoved through the mycelial network and had his brain turned inside out so many times he probably doesn't even register pain anymore. Just don't.
Hugh Culber
End Fight Probability: There is a 100% chance Hugh knocks you out and a 150% chance Paul sends your ass to the mushroom dimension.
Not a good idea. This man is shredded. He was dead for half a season and spent the entire time doing crunches, then came back to life just so he could fistfight the fucker that killed him. He will kick your ass, Hippocratic Oath notwithstanding. Don't make him write you a prescription for those hands. Maybe schedule a therapy session with him instead, talk through whatever it is that's causing you to try to fight him and all of his friends. Otherwise his husband might smear your atoms across the multiverse.
(former) Emperor Philippa Georgiou
End Fight Probability: There is a 1000000% chance Georgiou straight up kills you.
HOLY SHIT ARE YOU CRAZY? GEORGIOU GREW UP DODGING 26 ASSASSINATION ATTEMPTS BEFORE BREAKFAST. SHE GOT SHOT POINT BLANK WITH A PAIN GUN AND GOT OFF ON IT. FOR THE LOVE OF FUCK DON'T TRY TO FIGHT HER!!! NOT ONLY WILL YOU DIE BUT IT WILL HURT THE WHOLE TIME YOU ARE DYING.
Ash Tyler
End Fight Probability: There is a 200% chance Ash snaps your neck.
Absolutely do not fight Ash. He's part Klingon, part Space CIA Agent, all crazy. He probably knows 87 different ways to kill you, and his Section 31 pals will make it like you never existed — and that's if his ex-girlfriend doesn't kill you and eat your face first. Please, do not fight Ash. The universe already beat the crap out of him way harder than you ever could.
Christopher Pike
End Fight Probability: There is a 1701% chance Pike knocks you out.
You might think Pike is a pushover but he walks into every fight with the brazen confidence of a man who has seen his own future. And on Talos IV he learned how to fight with spears and shit. Don't fight Pike, you won't even muss up his hair.
Cleveland Booker
End Fight Probability: There is a 250% chance Book knocks you out.
You really, really don't want to fight Book. He has Disney Princess powers. You try to fight him, you might get eaten by a giant space worm. He killed a dude for dissing his cat. Don't fuck with Book, man.
Keyla Detmer
End Fight Probability: There is a 100% chance Detmer knocks you out.
Absolutely under no circumstances should you fight Detmer. She flew a starship out of an explosion into a completely different universe. She flew through the Galactic Barrier and a toxic void in space. She has nerves of literal steel. Don't fight Detmer.
Joann Owosekun
End Fight Probability: There is a 500% chance Owo knocks you out.
Listen. You don't want to mess with people who live on Star Trek Future Earth and still choose to be Amish. Did you not see her punch out that huge guy in the casino episode? Hell no. Don't fight Owo.
Adira Tal
End Fight Probability: There is a 480% chance Paul and Hugh come and knock you out.
Sure, you could probably take Adira. They're small and awkward and a big nerd. But they've also got two dads who will absolutely annihilate you from this plane of existence if you lay a hand on their little nerd baby. Fight Adira at your own risk.
Gabriel Lorca
End Fight Probability: There is a 40% chance Lorca shoots you.
Yeah, he's tough and he's got a bunch of weapons on his wall, but you're morally compelled to fight him because he is The Worst™. He kidnapped Michael because he was her other self's creepy uncle and he tried to overthrow the genocidal space Emperor because he thought she wasn't racist enough. Please, please, fight his disgusting, skeevy, murderous, predatory ass.
(shamelessly copied off this brilliant post by @shevathegun)

first 20
I was tagged by @daisylincs (ily lily!!!) for this super cool writer’s challenge!
Guidelines: List the first lines of your last 20 stories (if you have less than 20, just list them all.) Choose your favourite opening line, and tag some friends!
i don’t even remember the last twenty things I wrote, so this is going to be interesting...this is also going to cross fandoms and I think that’s hilarious
1. i haven’t met the new me yet (star trek: discovery, i take a bat to jola)
“Loss is funny, Keyla thinks.”
2. cowardice is sugary (star trek: discovery, jola)
“Hey, how many marshmallows do you think I can fit in my mouth?” Keyla gives the fluffy white treat an experimental squeeze.
3. if you’re gay, then you’re gay (star trek: discovery, culmets and mirror georgiou)
“Ask her about the word glee in her vocabulary, and Philippa would heartily deny it existed in hers until her dying breath, whenever it was.“
4. i made a joke, now it’s made for me ( agents of shield; unrequited skimmons)
“Jemma giggles, light and lilting, and lets Daisy's name flow easily across the board in loopy handwriting.”
5. may’s golden dragon (agents of sheild; philiinda, huntingbird, mackelena...the whole shebang and some very gay skye/oc)
“The glass pane of the door was streaked with aged grime as Phil Coulson reached out with a cautious hand, swinging it open with a single motion.“
6. every bait and switch was a work of art (agents of shield; philinda)
“December 1st , 2020″
7. dancing is a dangerous game (agents of shield - may’s golden dragon; skade)
“I think you and I both know who your royalty partner is.”
8. intertwined and overrun (agents of shield; ex-huntingbird)
“The first week she’s gone, it’s hell disguised as an angel.”
9. beautiful stranger, there you are (agents of shield; pipsy)
“Conversation: BU Bitches (BC Sucks)“
10. what do i do (with all this love for you) (agents of shield; fitzsimmons and melinda may)
“Sometimes I wonder how you’re still alive.”
11. family traditions (agents of shield; static quake)
As the sounds of shooting emanated from the range, Lincoln flattened himself against the wall outside the door, a drop of sweat running down his forehead.
12. looking back on a death wish (agents of shield; dousy)
“The first thing Daisy was able to register when she came to was the heat.“
13. just a minute to win it (agents of shield)
“Jemma, we gotta go!”
14. black coffee mornings (agents of shield; dousy)
“Clink.”
15. full (dog)house (agents of shield; static quake and melinda may)
“I need you to hide me.”
16. move on the path, but keep the flame (agents of shield; dousy)
“It’s funny, how one can spend so much time in an aircraft and still not get used to the taste of stale air.”
17. cause you were never mine (agents of shield; philinda)
“Dear Abby,”
18. i would ruin myself (a million little times) (agents of shield; philinda)
“Of course it’s the golden boy.”
19. it’s you and i in all the faces of trouble (agents of shield; huntingbird)
“Ellie, honey, we’re going to be late for school!”
20. think that we’re meant to be (supergirl; supercorp)
“Lena couldn't remember being happier than she had been in her entire life.“
my favorite opening line: probably from intertwined and overrun: “The first week she’s gone, it’s hell disguised as an angel.” (most iconic: opening of may’s.)
tagging (and sorry if you’ve been tagged!): @genderfluid-and-confuzled @the-9muses @angry-slytherin @maybebrilliant @apathbacktoyou @loved-the-stars-too-fondly @maos2013 @almostlikequake @sad-tunes and anyone else that wants to do it! (i’m so sorry my brain is absolutely fried rn lmao)

1, 3 and/or 24 for the fic writer asks! (These are questions that could run long answering, so feel free to answer as many or as few as you like, please!)
What’s something new that you tried in a fic this year? How did it turn out and would you do it again?
I wrote several drabbles, which was so much fun. I love how they're like poetry and you're so limited with what you can do or come up with. It's all about the economy of it, and I get wordy or have too much talking, so drabbles are really good for me. They're an excellent challenge.
They were fun to write and turned out well! people enjoyed them. I'm really into my niche little OTP at the moment so my audience is small, kind, and generous. They were enjoyed. I got to really think about how to make the most use out of the words I have.
Another new thing I did was write in second person POV? I have this very odd little fic (you will be mentioned in their biographies) which is about a side character to my current OTP, and how he perceives them, and it was neat to write. I had been having a bit of a block, so somehow writing that cleared my thoughts and I was able to work on Quantum (which is wonderful).
I have only written second person pov once before, so this was an adventure, but it let me say some fun poetic things and really get into how someone like Vance (who is the shining example of a good admiral, good dad, good person, but not extraordinary). He's a utility admiral, where he does a great job, but he's not a protagonist (like Janeway, or Sisko, or Kirk).
Michael is, and how strange it must be to have someone like her just turn up and turn your universe upside down, because she's that once in a blue moon, virtuoso kind of captain.
3. What’s something you learned about yourself as a writer?
The USSJellyfish signature fic (because I am the babyfic specialist) is the long, slow moving, character gets pregnant (usually through accidental-magical-handwavy means) and goes on a long emotional journey before giving birth under unpredictable circumstances (I think I have about 10 of these, depending on how I define it). Sometimes I don't get to the birth, depending on how long the story is. Sometimes my head moves on before I get there, some of these are REALLY long and took me more than two years to complete.
This is one of my favorite things to write. I get to fully immerse myself into the character's feelings. I get to do the big world building, I get to go on a journey...they're wonderful fics to write.
They take work, and it's HARD to sustain that kind of effort and inspiration for two years or so. i have a few that I burned out on the ship before I finished, or swapped.
The first one I posted was started in 2007, so I've been at this for 16 years.
It's the most self indulgent wonderful thing to write (for me). It's so much fun when it goes well and I love it and getting to the birth is wonderful because there's so much I can do with a birth scene, I love them. Usually my favorite characters haven't had children in canon so I have to do some cheating (Star Trek makes it easy, so does Once Upon a Time, and Agents of SHIELD).
I feel guilty about writing them. They're just babyfic and not important and not really plotty and no one really needs them and just niche for me and...self indulgent. So very self indulgent.
And that's okay. (I sort of believe it typing it but, I know intellectually that they're wonderful and fill a space and people should write what they want to write and enjoy it. What really matters is that they're bringing joy, to me writing them, to the handful of people reading them.
I learned in 2022 that I could write without needing to get feedback. Firefly (Star Trek Discovery, Mirror Philippa Georgiou & learning to have feelings), has several chapters that have no comments, and I wasn't sure if anyone was reading them, but I enjoyed writing them.
I got a little spoilt in 2022 and 2023 having people who would workshop plot ideas with me, and they're much busier than they were so that's gone for the moment. So I have to get back to the independent writing place. (I'm kind of there, it's less fun). It's also hard writing something that takes two years, because if you want to work on it with people, you need people who will be into what you're into for two years, and have time to play with you, for two years. I have several stories that have outlasted the friendship I had at the beginning. Usually I made other friends by the end, but it's a long, lonely endeavor.
There's a venn diagram of niche ship and having time to work on it and sustained interest and I feel rather alone at the moment (again, I've been there before) and it's okay. It's a good challenge to work through things on my own and have a dialogue with myself about what I'm writing. It's doable. It's less fun.
Life in general is a lonely place at the moment. I need to make new offline friends and branch out my online friends and...
One of the ways I make friends online is talking about writing and shipping and when I'm really into my tiny tiny ship. (as I am in the moment) it's not the easiest way to make friends.
The thing I'm trying to say that I've learned about myself as a writer, is that I am capable of being a self-sustaining creature. When I'm really into something, it's nice to just let myself enjoy it, and write what I want to write. I shouldn't (but do) feel bad for that, and lonely, but...the only way out is through. So I need to write what I like, and enjoy it. The other option is not writing, which is miserable. Writing by myself is better than not writing because I don't have people, but it's a different kind of energy. Less of a yes and, sort of thing, more of a find your joy.
Embrace it? I learn to be less self-conscious of a writer as I go, but it's always a process.
Right now I'm writing the "giving birth under unpredictable circumstances" chapters for my favorite ship at the moment (Michael/Laira) which is my emotional climax to my favorite ship at the moment in my favorite kind of fic to write so it's everything I like at one time.
AND IT'S HARD.
I need to get it right and find the right emotions and I have to drag myself into it to write it with the right emotional truth and detail and senses and...
It's the best but it's hard, and I'm on with it, so extra hard. (who wants to plot babyfic birth scenes...it's super niche).
I feel guilty for having likes that are so...unliked? That's a thing.
I enjoy it enough to keep going though.

trekathon: disco 1x11
“the wolf inside”:
pretty impressive that an episode can start with a man cradling his dead husband’s body and then get more distressing from there
it’s worth it to me though, personally, because mirror sarek is a prophet and it’s really working for me
the opening credits come a full 14 minutes into the episode. six teasers before breakfast and discovery laughs in the face of god
not like a Prophet™️ prophet:
the regular kind
or actually maybe he just mind-melds with people sometimes and then wows them with his psychic knowledge of their inner selves idk
i also really loved mirror!soval beyond all reason. apparently all i need is an older vulcan man who’s anti-fascist and pro-goatee
sarek’s confused math lady face as he tries to process finding his own katra inside michael’s head
michael has longed her whole life to hear sarek say something that nice about her and she only had to travel outside her quantum universe to do it
the i.s.s. suffering:
michael’s narrated slow-motion existential crisis feat. sexy nightwear
there’s a shot in the unsettling bath scene with steam curling around michael’s face that’s pure cinematic art
michael and prime!saru both lying to each other in this episode to spare the other’s feelings
also the “i will call you saru after a respected friend” parallel with the emperor telling mirror!saru about “a starship captain named saru” 🥺
i don’t think i mentioned last time how much i enjoyed seeing the iconic shenzhou transporter room again and really wish i had done so before it turned into the iconic shenzhou execution chamber
i LOVE that keyla gets to stand up! and walk around! and contribute to the plot!! and the continuity between this and “terra firma” of her being michael’s right hand
“terrans don’t apologize” but keyla DOES apologize to michael. you know i don’t like going extra curricular for info but emily coutts said in a ready room episode that she thinks their mirror universe selves may have impulses to Be Good that they have to suppress the way that we have to reject our evil impulses
anyway, i assume we’re all here for shipping mirror captain burnham/commander detmer
michael insisting she’s still starfleet so she has to foster this coalition of species... that fire of federation optimism....... we love to see it 💗
and also voq is there:
i can’t tell you how much i secretly hoped that THIS TIME ash tyler would manage not be voq after all
the reveal coming because he heard part of the activation phrase in his own voice is inspired though
he TRIED to stay HUMAN for MICHAEL how am i supposed to just LIVE WITH THIS
michael and tyler’s lovely scene in bed together made me think about how this is michael at her most traumatized, and tyler of course is traumatized in ways that literally defy understanding, so it’s this beautiful broken thing
and holding that up against season 3 michael who has moved through so much of her trauma and is ready for a sweet and loving relationship with a dude who rescues animals and loves her almost a full 90% as much as he loves his cat
like obviously, given the secret klingon agent of it all, it’s not exactly “falling in love with the right man for the right time,” but i like the way discovery challenges the draw of OTP and instead gives us “people can love deeply for a time and then can love someone else just as much later, because all of us grow and change and seek different things at different times to help us do that”
i don’t understand how any of this works:
really thought i was hanging on to the mechanical theory of How Spores Work as presented until now, but tilly said “neuronal link” like i should understand it and the whole house of cards came down
still not sure how hugh becomes a spore ghost. “fungi have the biological aptitude to link death with life” and “wherever you are, i hope he’s with you” sets it up, so i EXPECT that paul in the mycelial network will meet hugh, but instead it’s mirror paul in a sexy leather uniform
actually i don’t understand transporters anymore either. where is the discovery when they beam tylervoq aboard? is this like in aos where sometimes transporters just work over enormous distances? did they jam some spores into the transporter buffers??
EvilWatch 2255:
“i feel that your suffering has influenced your judgment”
really love lorca and all the mirror universe characters turning away from the explosion while michael stares directly at it
EMPEROR. PHILIPPA. GEORGIOU.
now that she’s a character i Know And Love rather than the standard cartoon villain one expects from the mirror universe i cannot WAIT for this.

I was tagged by @thisbluespirit to do this:
Self rec time! Rec one of your fluff fics, one of your angst, one multi-chaptered, one AU, and send this to your favourite writers.
Fluff: An Intervention of Sorts (T, 2047 words)
A frankly ridiculous Berena (Holby City) crossover with Doctor Who, taking advantage of the fact that both Kate Stewart and Bernie Wolfe are played by the inestimable Jemma Redgrave.* First time I’ve written the Thirteenth Doctor, too!
(*Not the first time I’ve written a Doctor Who crossover fic featuring a character played by a Who actor who appears in another show.)
Angst: The Long Road to Happiness (M, 8140 words)
Another Berena fic - and what I consider a Marmite fic ‘cos people will either love it or hate it. Please take note of the tags and trigger warning, though, if you do click through.
Multi-Chapter: Operation Quake (E, 18, 072 words)
Good gods, it’s been four years since I last wrote a multi-chapter fic! This one’s for Agents of SHIELD and is a post-Season 3 fic.
AU: Canon Divergence: Beyond the Battle at the Binary Stars I (G, 768) and Beyond the Battle at the Binary Stars II (G, 1379)
A two-parter for Star Trek: Discovery in which Captain Philippa Georgiou survives the Battle of the Binary Stars after all.
Alternate Universe: The Red Angels (E, 6302 words)
The Rock Band Star Trek: Discovery AU no one asked for but I enjoyed the hell out of writing!
I’m tagging @slightlyintimidating, @ktlsyrtis, @rauzadian, @onaperduamedee, @lapalfruity, @batnbreakfast, @professorflimflam and @wonkots42 if they wish to participate!
