Could I HCs for the headmasters (or only Riddle, Leona and Azul) reacting to one of their students asking to be transferred to ramshackle? like a small club of Yuu admirers :3
*ੈ✩‧₊˚ Yuu Admirer Club!
I misread this the first time and thought it was yuu transferring to THEIR dorms but, actually, I like this better. this is fun
summary: yuu admirer club :) type of post: headcanons characters: riddle, leona, azul, vil additional info: romantic, reader is gender neutral, reader is yuu
seeing as Heartslabyul hasn't had an expulsion, transfer, or dropout since Riddle became housewarden, this comes as...
...quite a shock
he thought Ace had been joking at first
or annoying him on purpose...
and then he comes down to the lounge one morning with his bags packed and a forged letter from Crowley
despite Riddle's strong feelings towards you
(and they are strong)
he's still offended!
all of the loving and tender discipline he's given, and Ace just leaves?
well, he can't stand for that
Riddle marches to Ramshackle, ready for heads to roll, but before he can even knock, you're there, dragging Ace and his things to the door
"oh, thank goodness. TAKE HIM BACK!"
*ੈ✩‧₊˚
Leona doesn't even notice that Jack has been missing until he passes the spelldrive disc at morning practice and there's no one there to catch it
more of a "huh" reaction
then he forgets about it, takes a nap, and only remembers to ask Ruggie the next morning
"he's been gone for two weeks. he moved to Ramshackle, remember?"
Ramshackle? weird choice, but okay
Jack has always been a little... strange
Leona's reaction is more or less, "huh. nice kid. oh, well,"
but after that, he starts seeing you and Jack together more and more
and he starts to feel... weirdly jealous
it's like he's rubbing it in Leona's face
taking up all your time, always making you smile and laugh...
Jack was never that funny at Savanaclaw
*ੈ✩‧₊˚
it takes Azul at least three days to start worrying about Floyd
he and his brother are known to disappear at random
then, the Mostro Lounge has to open an hour late because someone didn't show up for his morning shift
now Azul suddenly can't remember the last time he saw Floyd at the Lounge
after a brief manhunt, he finds Floyd all cozied up on your couch, in your slippers, with a mug of hot chocolate
great
"you cannot transfer dorms by avoiding your old one!"
"exemption!" Floyd says. is he also wearing your robe? "I'm simply a part of the Yuu Admirer Club"
Azul rolls his eyes
...and drags Floyd back to the lounge
after all, if there was such a club, Azul would have been the first to hear of it
*ੈ✩‧₊˚
Vil can feel something is off even before Epel is late
and, as always, he's right
Epel misses curfew, and Vil sets out on a mission like a mother hen missing a chick
of course, he knows just where he's hiding
and he lets himself in unannounced
"Epel, here. now,"
the poor boy looks like he's seen a ghost
you're not even involved in the conversation, but Vil's tone alone is enough to send a chill down your spine
"but- but- I got permission! this is the Yuu Admirer Club!"
Vil, of course, has no patience for this
"I gave you no such permission, and there is no such club,"
you can admire them on your own time like the rest of us, he thinks
luckily, Epel is saved
he's not the only member of the club, after all
"now, judge not so quick, dear Roi du Poison! does our admiration for our Trickster not exemplify that of a club?"
"wh- Rook?"

Beastmen Courting Rituals | TWST
Savanaclaw Dorm X Reader
Leona X Reader, Ruggie X Reader, Jack X Reader,
---- BeastFolk typically have instinctual ways they begin 'courting' or a relationship, some even taught from a young age certain courting rituals. (Non-Human courting rituals part 1/3)
Note: Fun fact, I began making Fae courting first but then I posted the future kid thing and didn't want to post two Diasomnia so close together!
Octavinelle Ver | Diasomnia Ver.
Jack:
It started very small, one day he was there, the next he was there again, and the next he was also there.
He was always there.
Then it got a bit... weird? You noticed that when he would approach you, he was making this grumbling, whining sounds? You don't even think he realized it. You chose to ignore this fact for now, maybe it was just because he was a beast man? You didn't want to be rude by saying anything- or make him feel embarrassed.
After that he began to help you with your hair more as well. Well, your general appearance. He'd help you fix your uniform and brush off any dust or anything you'd may want or need help with. In turn you helped him back, it was only fair after all!
Never mind his flushed face while you did this, moving small hairs back in place and picking any particles off his own uniform.
"There's our dynamic pair! beauty and the beast man." Ace teased, a confident grin on his face while you sat down at the table, Jack not too far behind you.
Jack just rolled his eyes, a small blush on his face as he ignored Ace. Aka, while he did the smart thing to do. You, however, have yet to learn that Despite so many months of friendship and raised an eyebrow at the Card boy. "What are you talking about." You rolled your eyes at the boy.
"You don't know? but it's so obvious!" Ace frowned, Grim nodding beside him in agreement, though you doubted he even knew what the boy was talking about. "His tail is always wagging like a fan when he's talking to ya! He's totally in l-" just as Ace was about to finish speaking Jack piped up, his ears straight on his head in an alert manner and his tail stiff behind him.
"I didn't get anything to drink when we got food." He excused himself, you tried to get a look at his face because he wasn't looking at you but he didn't look back and stood up.
Glancing at his tray, you didn't fail to notice the milk carton on it. Plush, Jack was always the prepared, diligent one. That was so odd... You glanced back at Ace only to find him laughing to himself like the funniest thing just happened. "Whatever, where is Deuce?" You rolled your eyes.
"Why should I know? I'm not his mom."
After that, Ace started calling you dense. Maybe you were because you really didn't know what the hell he was talking about.
After that it was like there was a switch in Jack. He began to be touchier, not that you minded of course! Cuddling with friends is always nice, and you liked to think it was because of his more... animalistic features and instincts he was cuddlier.
But somehow it felt more intimate. He'd nuzzle his face into your neck and hang off of you like he was a coat instead of a large man who was... well jacked.
You'd often wrestle him off of you because he had gotten into the habit of, as you said before, hanging off of you! He'd whine and almost instinctually wrestle you back to stay into his place.
You may not be as strong as him, but you also didn't hate the way he'd run with you at P.E. You knew he could easily run laps around everyone, but instead he stuck with you. Smiling at you exhausted look and cheering you on. "I'm sure Coach Vargas wouldn't mind us taking a break?" He laughs a bit awkwardly after you glared at him for suggesting it when he barely even broke a sweat.
It wasn't till after Leona off Handly mentioned something about you smelling like Jack. Even wrinkling his nose and saying that he "didn't have to lay it on that thick." That you started to think, maybe, just maybe, something else was going on here.
So, you went to the library. Got yourself your very own book (that you had to return in two weeks) on Beastfolk Mating rituals.
Suddenly, it made sense why Ace thought you were dense. Apparently, this was commonish knowledge in this world! And maybe you were ignoring pretty obvious signs now that you thought about it.
So, one afternoon when Jack was hanging off of you, that look in his eyes you hadn't noticed till now. You bit his hand. His ears straightened in surprise and he looked at you for a moment. A thick blush on his face.
"Am I dense or are you courting me?" You finally asked now that you had his attention.
"I have been for a while now..." He sheepishly admitted while not looking you in the eye.
____________
Ruggie:
He avoided you like the plague, at first.
Even now, sometimes when he's approaching you, you noticed that he might backtrack and hesitate.
Now he is a lot more relaxed, often hanging off of your shoulder. Now that he knows you won't bite his head off. His tail would wag behind him slightly while he interacted with you. A stark contrast to the stiff, alert eared boy he was just a little while ago!
You will say though, it did take some of your lunches to get here. You'd equate this process to that of getting a scared cat to approach you with treats. Now, you didn't even need the treats to get him around! He'd approach you first now too. Still with hesitance, but once he did come up to you he did seem to enjoy himself.
"He loved hanging off of you and cuddling up to you. He was very handsy, (Like most beast men, you'd later learned) His face often nuzzled into the nook of your neck. "He loved hanging off of you and cuddling up to you. He was very handsy, (Like most beast men, you'd later learned) His face often nuzzled into the nook of your neck.
"It's so weird to see a Ruggie-Senpai hang out with you so much." Deuce said off handedly one afternoon. You two were studying together when he thought of this.
"What do you mean?" You couldn't help but ask the card solider. Putting your pen down as you looked at him curiously.
The boy just shrugged, a odd look on his face. "I don't know, I just thought Hyena beast men were more... You know." he added a bit awkwardly. You decided to drop it there.
"Yeah... Anyway, I think I remember-"
The interaction stood out in your head, however. What exactly did Deuce even mean? After that interaction, you noticed a couple things as well. Beast students would look at you and nodded at you in recognition? Leona's nose would scrunch up a bit when you spoke to him (though he never made any comments on it), and when you walked into Savanaclaw a beast guy once mistook you for Ruggie before he looked at you?
What did any of that even mean?! When you asked Jack, he just said you smelt like Ruggie.
That small interaction you had with Deuce quickly began to send you down a hill of thinking about everything Ruggie ever did! How he hung off of you, and how you two hung out. It got even weirder when Ruggie offered you some food. Like he had been for a while.
This was very out of character for the Hyena boy! How did you not realize it before? So, you asked him about it. "How come you always offer me something when we eat together?"
He blushed a bit looking at you with wide eyes for a moment before shaking his head, "I do that don't I?" he laughed awkwardly, "I mean I bring food home for the neighborhood kids too. We all got to eat; you know?" He shrugged it off. You wondered what that meant, because he didn't do it with anyone else, but you failed to push him on the subject.
Your sad to say, you never fully realized what was happening till someone explained it to you.
He knocked on Ramshackle door with a handful of pretty dandelions and asked you on a date. "Perfect, would you like to um... go out with me?" he asked hesitantly, a nervous smile on his face while he put his head down. Like he was trying to protect his neck...
You said yes and it was after that Leona explained how annoying it was watching you two and basically inadvertently explained everything to you...
"That would have been helpful to know sooner." You grumbled to yourself after talking with the lion.
"Eh? Ignore him shyhehe!~ Ruggie just snickered with his usual sly smile.
____________
Leona:
Leona didn't really have time for games. If he liked, you he'd just come out and say it. At least, that's what you had first thought. Yes, he did use your lap as a pillow and you two did cuddle somewhat regularly. That didn't exactly mean anything. Right?
And yeah, Ruggie did scrunch his nose up and complain that you smelt too much like Leona, but that didn't matter. Leona probably didn't mean to do that; he was probably sleeping.
Did Leona roar at you? Yeah, so what? It was like a yawn; it just came out. No, he wasn't blushing! He couldn't be because you were already looking away in embarrassment.
Leona just didn't like you like that. No matter how many Courting book you read on beast men!
The Lion man in question invited you out to a Spelldrive tournament he had been practicing for. Obviously, you went without a second thought. It would be nice to see the lazy lion not lazing around for once! At least that's how you justified it.
You definitely didn't want to just see your crush play a match.
You couldn't help but notice the whole time, how Leona kept looking at you in your seat. Making sure you had just seen him perform. You'd smile and cheer for him and maybe, just maybe, a sense of pride would build up in his chest.
And maybe it was really nice to hear you cheer, and see you jump up from your seat in excitement. And maybe it was really nice to be able to cheer for him.
So you planned to confess to him after this game. "Leona I really liked you! I have for a while now!" And you did.
"Finally." He yawned and rubbed the back of his neck, you two then went to cuddle in the garden.
Did that mean you two were together now...?
____________
A/N: I know that some dorms aren't like nonhuman, but I can imagine that like Riddle was taught like courting customs in The Queendom of Roses, (Some queen of heart rule) or like the scalding sands have some costumes? Like the world changes because of beastmen/Fae customs and people adapted to that and added it to their own ways of approaching a relationship? Idk lol
Sorry Leona's part was quite short, I was getting tired and just wanted to get this out! But thank you for reading!

Prompt: Couples will evidently begin to mimic their better half after some time. What traits do you steal from him, and vice versa? Fandom: Twisted Wonderland Characters: Everyone - because I want to and I’m amidst fleshing out all my Yuu/Character dynamics + designs Format: Headcannons. Masterlist: LinkedUP Parts: Heartslabyul | Savanaclaw | Octavinelle | Scarabia (Here) | Pomefiore | Ignihyde | Diasomnia A/N: I'm part of the 'everyone underestimates Kalim Al Asim , the layers of his character and upbringing' club. Sweet does not equal being a dum dum my dudes.
Habits You Steal:
Theatrics (Inherited): Kalim talks with more than his mouth. There's body language. Watch out when this guy gets excited because he might knock over a lamp amidst a rant. Hands are flying with each embellishment. He's pacing. Jumping. Energy is seemingly endless with this one. When Kalim laughs, he does so with his entire body without reservation. Head flying back, grin wide, shoulder shaking, etc. Not that he can't replace what gets broken but - y'know. Be careful else you might get bitch slapped on accident. Which normally wouldn't hurt too much but Kalim's decked out in gold. The last thing you want is a ring imprint on your left cheek because Kalim got too excited after a card game. On that note - someone get Jamil some aspirin because that excitement is infectious. You can be the most stone-hearted edge-lord on the face of Twisted Wonderland, but eventually his infectious sunshine attitude takes hold.
"A-Ah! It's okay! We can replace the lamp, so don't worry. Are you hurt? No, no. It's really aright. I'm fine, see? You missed me - can I see your hands for a second? OIII! Can someone please bring a med-kit! Thank you!" <- Jamil's already grabbing the broom before you can say sorry. This is the last time he lets you sit anywhere near fragile objects during a game of charades - or any game. Kalim was bad enough...but at least with him fretting over the tiny cut on your palm, Jamil could clean the mess in peace. At least until you offer to pay for the lamp. Kalim's got enough tact to lie about the price, and everyone's thankful. No one wants to see the Ramshackle Prefect have a heart attack for shattering a real crystal lamp. 'cause then Kalim will cry too and it'll just be dominos from there.
Personal Space (Inherited): Kalim tears away any sense of dignity, self-preservation, and privacy that might exist. In a good way, of course. It's not that Kalim is an open person. Quite the contrary. He needs to keep a calculated distance between himself and others due to his position as an Asim. Regardless of his happy exterior, never forget that Kalim is far from an airhead. Kindness doesn't equate connection - as much as Kalim would love for everyone to be his friend. Yet for those who are in that trusted circle? He treats them like an extension of the self. His lack of shame bleeds into your own perception.
Training and Resistance (Inherited and Developed): Kalim hates that you need to do this. He rarely 'hates' anything, but he despises that you need to worry about being poisoned. What’s worse is that you refuse to have a tester, or a guard, or anything of the sort. It all started with discussing the future with Jamil, who logically brought up the complications that come with Kalim taking a partner. You couldn’t be shadowed, were in a difficult position with the headmaster, and it would only become difficult once the duo moves back to the scalding sands. Even more once you join them (as NRC is merely teaming with prideful youths, while the Scalding Sands is a free for all).
Point summary? You need to build resistance to drugs and learn what to do in a hostage situation. The former is handled by Professor Crewel, and the process was explained in excruciating detail. Jamil, who’s undergone training, was unphased but Kalim desperately wanted you to back out. Yet it would mean needing a guard - which would be hard to arrange - and so…yeah. Many weekends in the nurse’s office. You also have to complete the hostage drills all Asims and their spouses are put through. How to escape bondage, how to last an interrogation, how to navigate without magic (which you could, duh, so basically without a map when stranded), negotiate, etc.
"Are you absolutely certain that this is what you want to do? I can still hire a body guard - there are many options available back home! You can spend our next vacation at the main villa and meet with them. We can - oh. y-you're sure?... alright. If this is what you want then I'll be there through every step. Just remember to ask if you need anything. I'll come running, no matter what."
Charisma (Inherited): Everyone underestimates just how dangerous Kalim is. Seriously. Nothing is more risky in a school like Night Raven College than dropping your guard. It can cost you your life - or at the very least leave you indebted to someone you do not want having dirt over your head (*cough*ACertianCephalopod*cough*)The gossip grapevine is a menace. Everyone has their pride. Everyone has their secrets. Everyone holds each other at arm’s length, even if you’re cordial or friendly. Everyone except Kalim, who has this innate ability to pry the most dirty secrets out of you simply through his nonchalant attitude. Nothing drops another’s guard quicker than a sense of security and superiority. People often mistake his genuine heart for nativity. They fail to recognize that it’s a choice, and deep down he is aware that the Al Asim name places him high above the people he sees as friends.
"Hm? Isn't that the alchemic lab on potionomics meant for second years? You're so smart! I didn't get to do that lab until just a few months ago! - it's not yours? Then why are you working on it?" <- game. set. match. You think he doesn't know what your handwriting looks like? He saw you lingering outside Crewel's classroom earlier and wanted to know why. Saw an opening. Took it. Is happy you’re helping out one of your other friends, but just had to make sure no one was bullying you into doing their work.
Since he truly believes that despite this gap, friendships can transcend - his ability to get information is uncanny. A power he can wield intentionally if need be, in getting you to name drop any person or problem posed. It’s a great quality to have! This way he can help and support you :) Why is this an inherited trait, you might be asking? Because as the next head of Al Asim, Kalim’s been studying how to do business since he was young. He’s going to teach you. Pray tell what is born once the Ramshackle Beast Tamer learns the ways of Scarabia’s master of charisma and resident sunshine child?…Night Raven’s downfall. Power couple. Dead serious right now.
Jewelry (Developed): Worth your weight in gold takes a new meaning. This isn’t in reference to being spoiled, mind you. This is about status and the meaning behind the jewels Kalim is imparting. The cultural significance. Considering that you’re not from twisted wonderland, you technically are a blank slate to all countries. Who better to learn from than someone who’s spent his childhood studying to become an expert in international trade? Kalim has enough tact to bite his tongue about the deep meaning behind the gifts. You may not understand just yet, but his excitement can’t be contained. Each bangle and piece from the family treasury has a small story. While he has no problem using his wealth to help people who need it, there’s a joy that comes from decorating his treasure’ in treasure. Y’know?
"Do you like it? This necklace was my mother's at our age. My father gifted it to her during a business trip to the Queendom of Roses. Ah - you can have it! Really! She has many others, and when I told her about you this was what she chose to have sent over. It's already yours! You can wear it to the next banquet, please?" <- Being the next head of House Asim, Kalim can't be with just anyone. Yet he seemed so happy in his letters, and Jamil vouched on your behalf - so this is your time to shine. Also, sending the necklace back would be like slighting his family's good will. You quite literally need to accept it.
Music (Inherited): Can you play an instrument? Sing? It starts out as wanting to be near him more - so you join the pop music club. Kalim, Cater, and Lilia are very convincing. So they push you to pick up something. Anything. It doesn't matter what, so long as you have fun with them. Even in the earliest stages where the notes come grated and your friends (Grim) make fun - Kalim is supportive without fault. His encouragement leads to proficiency and an appreciation for music. He'd love if you sing with him. Even if it's just a lullaby - no, especially so.
Habits He Steals:
Naming inanimate objects (Inherited): Your effort at making Kalim more money-conscious. The decite of sentimental attachment, if you will. It’s honestly a risky move to make considering the sheer amount of things that he owns, so naming everything is off the table. Yet it’s the silly things. Like seeing a face in the paintwork on one of his tapestries, and then deciding to dub it Artie. Oh no, Kalim we don’t need to get new artwork for the bathroom! What about Artie? It’s already pretty enough so lets just leave him there. No - no, that ring’s super pretty but the matching set from our anniversary is enough. We wouldn’t want Garnet and Pearl to think we were replacing them, right?
"I think Vinnie would work best on display, don't you? Purple and yellow are sure to catch people's attention from far away! Or maybe should we hang up Paolo? There are so many tapestries in Scarabia’s vault, I feel guilty only putting one up on display at our festival stall. Do you think they’d let us hang more?”<- It works. Kalim defiantly thinks twice. He's a bit like a kid refusing to give up their action figures after watching Toy Story, ya feel me?
Cooking (Inherited): Kalim is learning how to cook for himself as one step to being more self-sufficient. He only eats food that Jamil prepares, but with Viper’s seal of approval you’ve earned a pass. Essentially anything you both make with pre-approved ingredients is fair game. You pick a recipe every week, give Jamil the grocery list, and he makes sure to have the stuff in the dorm. Jamil is only okay with this so long as you supervise. Teaching Kalim is on your shoulders - and in all honesty? It’s an amazing bonding experience. Jamil can rest easy for a few hours and Kalim isn’t being thrown straight into the deep end. Obviously it’s only a small reprieve, and temporary since back at the Scalding Sands there are regulations in place. Kalim loves wearing matching aprons, humming little tunes while reading recipe books, watching cooking videos, learning about all the nutritional benefits in food, and really gets an appreciation after seeing how much work goes into his favorite dishes. There’s also that spark of joy when you sit down to eat, and it’s somehow one-hundred times better than eating with his family back home. Not that Kailm doesn’t love his siblings, but family really takes a new meaning when you see it coming together right before your eyes.
"Mph th-ish is sho gud! - how do you like it? Should we invite our friends to try some? It tastes almost like Jamil's! I bet if we keep at it, then we can cook up a banquet all on our own. That'll surely put everyone in a good mood!"
Skinship (Developed): Kalim is the type to initiate touch. Not receive it. If you look at his interactions with the others, he’s always the one throwing himself at them or being a vibrant glow-stick. Very few people give that back - and in truth? Like, honest to Seven truth? Kalim’s got no problem with it. Many people have bad intentions. Not everyone wants to be his friend, and that’s fine. They come to him looking to get in his good graces. It’s unnecessary…he’ll happily help without them twisting his feelings. All they need to do is ask. Do you know how easy it is for someone to prick him with a drugged needle? He’s not comfortable with physical contact that he does not initiate, unless it’s from someone he trusts. Like Jamil, Silver, Cater, his siblings, etc. Even they have a limit (which he’s confident will never be crossed, since again, Kalim is almost always the initiator). This list is subject to change…what, you think a family of 30+ kids can exist without animosity? He dreads the day he has to think of one of his little siblings becoming untrustworthy.
Anyways. Trust is a choice for Kalim. His happiness and extroverted optimism is all a choice. Sometimes on an unconscious level (*cough* his awareness of the divide between himself and Jamil, yet pushing the knowledge down until it inevitably hurt them both *cough*). So imagine reaching the point where he trusts you. It could be something small, like the first time you hug him from behind or lace your fingers together. Intimate. Not like Cater’s half sling over the shoulder, not like his little siblings hanging on his legs, or Jamil pushing him ahead while they walk. When he’s not initiating, and Kalim might hesitate for a moment. Hard to picture, I know, but by letting it be he’s choosing to trust you wholeheartedly. All in the span of like 5 seconds, and he might not even realize it until later on. Those of us who shine the brightest, usually have walls that are hard to see. Just some food for thought.
"Really? Really, really?? Really, really really??? Really - Ah! Sorry, I just can't believe it! There's so much I still don't know about them...but they're paying attention to me, huh? That's it! I need to work harder to be a worthy boyfriend! Starting right now, I'll become a better man!" <- Kalim. Sweetie. No. You're already the brightest boy. Your dormmates only brought the prefect's changes up to make you happy! I mean - mission successful? The goal was to motivate him and they technically succeeded. Just not for studying. He's 100% fired up with enough energy to run laps around the dorm now. He doesn't know what to do first, should he get Cater to help make you a playlist? Or have some flowers sent over? Would you prefer red roses or a mix of violets with chrysanthemums. Wait. Grim's 'technically' a cat, right? He should make sure not to send anything harmful to kitties. Maybe some tuna for him with chocolates for you? But this gift should be something you can keep. Ohhhh he is vibrating from excitement. He needs to show how much he loves you. Your attention and care truly means the world to him.
Habits You Steal:
Bug Spray (Developed): Jamil can and will throw you under the bus when faced with insects. Big hit to his pride, not his best moments, but he is NOT dealing with the absolute infestation at Ramshackle. You are spraying that place with heavy duty RAID if you want him over longer than ten seconds. If he so much as catches a GLIMPSE of a roach - nah. Just nah. He will shove that dustpan in your hands and send you to war. Don’t call him until it’s dead, the carcass has been disposed of, and you’ve wiped down. Grim’s a cat. Teach his ass to hunt. He needs to pay rent. You think he’s letting the flame-ball follow to the Scalding Sands after NRC? Jamil wants him on hinting duty for scarabs or else it’s time to prep hobo box.
“Burn it….Did you not hear me? I said. Burn. It. Better yet? Burn this whole damn building!” <-First night he decides to let Kalim handle Scarabia and humor you with a sleepover - and a giant spider decided to invade the shower. We’re talking big spider, maybe pregnant. Please keep in mind that during the VDC prep, Vil had Ramshackle deep cleaned. So the worst Jamil saw was a few ants. Now, the science club does meet in the Ramshackle garden often since you’ve cleaned it up, and Trey may grow plants that make the place insect central. Jamil was unaware of this. The gut wrenching scream that echoed through every room in the house. You’d think one of the ghosts pulled a cruel prank - but no. You didn’t even get a moment to investigate. The bathroom door flew open, Jamil running out still wet and drenching his pajamas. The death glare and spew of curses was the most genuine you’d ever seen him. Well, it could have been appreciated if not directed at you. Fix it or he will never set foot in this place ever again.
Spice Tolerance (Inherited): Not much to say here. He likes his food spicy. Sure, Jamil isn’t great with his words so his main love-language is bringing over tubbaware filled with food, and he does cater to your preferences more often than not. Except you undoubtedly will be eating what himself and Kalim eat most days. Which is packed with flavor. Grim isn’t complaining, food’s food. You? It’s funny to take a chomp out of ghost pepper like it’s a roma tomato, only for Ace to try and then start wheezing. Work them tastebuds, ya scrawny magic man. Heh.
"Can't handle the heat? Curry's a versatile dish. I could make something mild next time...you still want it? Why? Just because it's my favorite, doesn't mean you have to like it. Still not going to give it back? Alright. Lets see you clean that plate then." <- Flattered that you want to experience his favorite foods prepared to his tastes. For the record - Jamil likes it spicy spicy. Hotter than fiery vindaloo. Its an acquired taste and he really can alter the recipe if its too much. Won't unless you ask, because it's funny and oddly romantic seeing you sweat just trying to make him happy (Will hit the breaks in if you are getting sick from it. Does not play around).
Braids (Inherited): Paired with Jamil’s developed trait. Braids or hair beads - take your pick. Maybe both? Or a headscarf. His little sister - Najima, do you remember her? She’s the first Viper you get to spend time with during a trip to the Scalding Sands and gifts you either some hair beads or a headscarf as her unspoken blessing. Nothing fancy, and Jamil forced the coin in her hand for it, but she did take you through the markets while he was busy tending to other needs. It’s honestly really sweet, and Jamil will braid the beads or scarf in one of your side pieces of hair every morning (or wrap the scarf around your head. Not fancy like Kalim’s but still a knot he ‘insists’ will look better if he does it since you’re inexperienced. He could teach you. He won’t.)
Silence (Inherited): Shit just does not phase you anymore. Ever heard of the inability to keep calm until there's someone more panicked nearby? Jamil embodies this, being surrounded by emotive people all the time, and his perpetual state of indifference physically does not allow you to feel unsettled. If Jamil isn't bothered, then neither are you. It's that simple. Resting bitch face is contagious. Jamil's ability to handle Kalim comes in handy for raising Grim. You can now ignore his baby face and daily begging for premium tuna. Little kitty needs to expand his arsenal of tricks, because your will is stone.
"Bad day? Grab a cup. The dorm's usually quiet for the next hour. I'll be there in a moment." <- Queen never cry. If anything actually does phase either one of you, it normally ends the same way. Plopped on the floor of his bedroom, sipping hot tea and staring at the wall in comfortable silence while stewing in mutual suffering. Eventually you give him one of those starry sky projectors, and y'all ill stare at that instead. If it's a problem that has a tangible solution then it gets solved. Easy. This is for the 'yeah, life sucks' moments where all you can do is let it be before getting back up again. At least you have each other.
Habits He Steals:
Braids (Developed): Jamil can easily do his own hair. A flick of the wrist and it magically braids itself. Ebony locks carry memories of pain, growth - and change. Small change. Yet change nonetheless, which seemed impossible years ago. There’s something very intimate that comes with fixing another person’s hair. You’re not proficient enough to handle his cornrows (or are you? To his standard? As fast as magic?) but Jamil’s fine with changing his hair style to a simple triple braid, or a braid-band using the framing pieces that can crown around his head. So long as you do it for him every morning.
Fix-It-Felix (Developed): You know that one type of dad? The one who visits your home and looks for imperfections. He comes over, puts fresh produce in the fridge, mends the nail holes in the wall and fixes that one loose board on the steps that you made a habit to avoid. Barely says two words during his visit but seemingly solves half the problems you were procrastinating? This is Jamil. 100% Jamil when he comes to Ramshackle. He needs to make himself useful. And to scold someone. Grim more often than not, but you’re not safe. He really goes ‘bitch you live like this?’ at least once a week. Then proceeds to take preventative measures like a textbook tsundere.
“I put tangerines in the fridge since winter is coming. You need to be getting enough vitamin c and - where’s Grim? Don’t let him eat them all and make sure he knows not to light the fireplace tonight. There’s some cleaner on the bricks that needs to sit for a few hours…you know what? I’ll go with you to get him. Grab your heavy coat, it looks ready to rain.”
Dancing (Developed): Jamil participates in solo-dance during his downtime. It’s not like he had a partner to do duos with. Jamil also was not interesting in cozying up to a stranger just to learn a dance he would rarely have a moment to indulge in. Kalim’s the one who mentioned this in passing to you. His intentions were pure, of course. Just as they always are. He signed you both up for a ballroom dance class as a present for officially becoming a couple! Jamil finally had a partner and time to try, so why wait?! The vice in question wanted to deny since (1) who has time for that, (2) it was off campus, would take three hours out of every weekend for a month and (3) The chance of embarrassing himself was higher than he would like. Yet Kalim is smarter than most think, and purposefully handed the gift to you. Not Jamil. Along with the excited embellishment that Jamil could now do this ‘long desired’ class that really wasn’t high on his radar.
"If it makes you happy...then I don't mind. Just try to avoid stepping on my toes. Otherwise I'll demand compensation. What do I want? Wouldn't you like to know, prefect." <- Five seconds in and he yields. You weren't going to let him out of it - no matter what excuse Jamil came up with. He'll put up with it and get back at Kalim later. The chance to spend time with you for that long is rare, and Jamil isn't the type to squander opportunities. No matter his personal feelings on the 'gift' in question.
Except Jamil finds the entire experience pleasant and hates that it’s all thanks to Kalim. Dancing with you is entirely different than dancing alone. It’s clumsy, new, and honestly tiring since he needs to lead. Especially in anything fast pace like a quickstep or to swing. It’s also three hours out of the week that Jamil isn’t maintaining his composure. Just you, him, and the instructor since Kalim splurged on private lessons. It’s liberating and Jamil wants to keep with it far beyond after the class ends. Even if it’s just slow-dancing in the common room to one of those vintage records stowed at Ramshackle. Seven, let him have this.
‘We’ instead of ‘Me’ (Inherited AND Developed): Automatically assumes that any invites are for you too. Jamil is used to thinking this way. Except the ‘we’ applied to Kalim, with Jamil as a plus one. Jamil did not want to be part of that ‘we’. Hence why he would only refer to Kalim when laying plans out. ‘Kalim has dance lessons at six, then dinner at seven, then study until 10 and then bed. Tomorrow, Kalim’s going to a banquet head by the treasure’s family and then returning to campus.’ The unspoken truth being that Jamil’s schedule matched. He followed, but was never on board with being Kalim’s ‘we’. He has always been a ‘me’ and made an active effort to preserve all his ‘me’ moments. For someone so self-aware…Jamil isn’t sure when he began to view you as his ‘we’. Only that when you auto-included him in everything…it was less strenuous than with Kalim. Far less. Easy to adapt. In the past, Jamil believed a partnership to be another chain. Perhaps being a ‘we’ was never supposed to hurt.
“Thanks for the invitation, but we’re staying in tonight…. No, not Kalim. The Prefect. What? I’m not speaking for them. If my word’s not good enough, just go ask the prefect yourself.” <- Other people might look at him and think he’s treating you like Kalim. Oh, how wrong they are.
Texting (Inherited): Jamil’s not used to someone keeping tabs on him. You’re going to see him within the hour, why does he need to call before going to wake up Kalim? Why do you need a text that he’s back in his dorm before you’re able to sleep? Why do you show up in Scarabia at one in the morning, throwing rocks at his window, if he forgets? (Jamil never forgets. He just had to reign in some rowdy first years and couldn’t catch a break. It was on his mind. Really.) It’s not the worst demand. A five minute call while he’s prepping breakfast and a few messages to know he’s going to rest are a small price to pay. Turns out a little rundown of his day before bed makes sleeping a ‘little’ bit easier. Huh.
“I don’t see it.” <- A lie spoken with the most monotone tone possible. Jamil rolls his eyes over the rim of his mug, taking a sip before turning the page in his book. Najima scoffs before returning to her magazine. She can say he’s softened up all she wants. He won’t admit to it. Doesn’t mean she’s wrong in the slightest. Jamil’s well aware that hopes and wants denied to him from birth have begun to stir within him. No matter how small the changes may be, Jamil isn’t foolish enough to give those emotions his attention. Not if he wants to keep them. Good things always escape his grasp…his wounds are too fresh to get comfortable just yet.

Happy holidays!
Summary: How the TWST boys spend the holidays with you
Characters: All NRC students
A/N: I'm finally back and with seasonal post. (May or may not have rushed the end) Anyways, enjoy!
Riddle Rosehearts:
Riddle doesn’t invite you over for the holidays. He does NOT want you to meet his mom. So instead, he spends the holidays with you before he has to go home. He’ll buy you a present, make food (With Trey’s help) and then set up the decorations. He’ll celebrate the holidays with you before he has to go home. And he’ll make sure that you have the best time ever.
Trey Clover:
Trey will invite you over. Not only will it allow you to meet his family, but you’ll also be able to celebrate together. He’ll take you home to meet his family, go shopping for presents, set up decorations, and bake some desserts. His family bakery closes when the holidays arrive. They celebrate like most families do during the holidays (With a little more desserts). And Trey makes sure that you have the best holiday celebration ever.
Cater Diamond:
He is going to give you the best celebration ever. He doesn’t want to invite you over because he doesn’t really want his family to meet you yet, but if you insist that he does, he will. He just has a complicated relationship with his sisters. No matter when or where you celebrate, he’ll still set up the best celebration ever. And he’ll give you the best present you could imagine. He’s going to do whatever he can to see you smile and laugh and just be happy. You matter to him, after all.
Ace Trappola:
Doesn’t really invite you over, he just tells you that you’re coming over. “You’re coming to my place for the holidays,” and then just leaves. Thanks for the heads up, Ace. He will make sure that you want to go. He’s not gonna force you. You’ll get to meet his family and celebrate with them. His brother takes you two presents shopping, you’ll all make food together, and just have a good time. (Ace’s brother gives you baby pictures of Ace and tells you to keep it a secret.)
Deuce Spade:
Of course, he’s inviting you over. You already met his mom and she would be delighted to have you over. Dylla tells him to invite you over, and he does. She’s going to have the house all decorated. She hangs up lights all over the house and everything. She’ll give both of you money to buy gifts (it doesn’t matter if you have your own money.) She’ll make food and everything. This is gonna be your best holiday if she has a say in it. (This isn’t a holiday with Deuce, it's a holiday with Dylla.)
Leona Kingscholar:
You’re not coming over, because he’s not going home. Not even Neji can drag him home. You two are gonna spend the holidays at Savanaclaw. He’s just gonna stay in bed the entire holiday until he needs to get you a present. He’ll order food and you guys can eat, exchange presents, and go to sleep. He’s a simple guy.
Ruggie Bucchi:
He invites you over, and uses your extra hands to carry more food. He’s getting as much from the school as he can to take it home and you’re just extra hands. But he also does want you to come with him. You’ll get to meet his grandma and the kids in his neighborhood. They all love you. He’s feeding everybody and you. The food is his gift.
Jack Howl:
He invites you to his place for the holidays. He’s excited to spend the holidays with you and introduce you to his family. His siblings and parents love you. His siblings are always attached to you and asking all about you. His family makes a great meal and tells you all the stories they have about Jack. He ends dinner early when they get to the embarrassing stories.
Azul Ashengrotto:
He can’t go home. And you would get hypothermia if you went to his home during Winter. He invites you to the Mostro lounge and it’s all decorated. He and Floyd make an amazing meal and set up a whole feast in the Mostro lounge. They have to push a bunch of tables together to lay it all out. You eat, exchange presents, and just enjoy each other's presence. And at the end of the night, Azul will offer to let you stay over and sleep in his room. And if you agree, the tweels crash it and you spend the rest of the night binge watching so-bad-they’re-good movies and playing board games.
Jade Leech:
He can’t go home #2. Beware this one. He’ll show up at your dorm in hiking gear. Holiday hiking, what could be more romantic? No matter how against it you are, you’ll somehow end up hiking up a snowy mountain. Don’t worry, if you get cold, he’ll warm you right up. And then you’ll hike back down and drop into the Mostro lounge where Azul and Floyd already have all the food laid out. You’ll feast and then he’ll offer to walk you back to your dorm. And by the end of the night, he leaves you with a small present. And inside is a terrarium made specifically for you.
Floyd Leech:
He can’t go home #3. The moment you wake up, Floyd bursts into your dorm, oozing with holiday cheer. He drags you around the entire campus, doing everything he finds fun. He’ll start a snowball fight with you, steal your jacket and tease you for shivering, and whatever other fun activities he can think of. And then he convinces you to make and gather as many snowballs as you can for a small little prank. And then you’re bursting into the Mostro Lounge and pelting Azul and Jade with all the snowballs you both gathered. And at the end of the night, he falls asleep with you in his arms.
Kalim Al-Asim:
He is inviting you over as soon as he can. He can’t wait to introduce you to his siblings and parents and cousins and aunts and uncles and-. He especially can’t wait to spend the holidays with you. He’ll make this the best holiday you’ve ever had. He’ll buy you the best gift you ever got. He makes sure you have the best meal you’ve ever eaten. He is going to make sure that when you think of the holiday you spent with him, you smile.
Jamil Viper:
He originally did not consider bringing you home. Even if he did, he’d be busy setting up and babysitting Kalim. But Kalim takes it upon himself to invite you, and Jamil’s not going to complain. He’s happy to have you with him, but he’s so swamped with work that you barely see him. But every chance he gets, he’ll spend his time with you, talking, laughing, hugging. It might not be much, but at the end of the night, you and him get alone time in his room where you exchange presents and fall asleep together.
Vil Schoenheit:
Of course he’s inviting you home for the holidays. His dad would love to meet you, and he would hate to leave you alone for the holidays. He makes sure you have an amazing time with him and his dad. He gets you an amazing present, cooks you a great meal, decorates the house as best as he can. He wants to make sure that next year, you’ll agree to come back. And his dad gives you baby photos and Vil graciously accepts all your “cute baby” comments.
Rook Hunt:
He invites you home for the holidays. Which home? He won’t tell. He introduces you to his siblings and parents who all love you (And seem surprisingly normal??). He takes you shopping which ends up turning into people watching with him. He tells you that he and his family can do all the prep if you don’t want to. And the whole time it’s strangely domestic. Rook is acting normally for once. Not hunting anybody or even talking about hunting. Him and his family are joking around and sharing laughs. And that night, Rook makes sure that you fall asleep in his arms, safe and sound.
Epel Felmier:
Of course he’s going to invite you home for the holidays. If he didn’t, his meemaw would scold him. And he wants you there with him anyways, so it works out. He has a whole winter outfit made for you too. He shows you around, takes you shopping, tells his neighbors about his amazing partner. He’s going to make sure that you have a good time. There’s a meal, gift giving and of course he gives you a kiss on the cheek as he hands you the present he got you. And that night, he falls asleep with you smiling like the cat that caught the canary.
Idia Shroud:
He’s very apprehensive about inviting you home. He doesn’t think it’s because you won’t like it, he just isn’t sure about his parents meeting you. But Ortho convinces him, so he texts you (it’s easier) about coming to his place for the holidays. Naturally, his parents love you. His dad is a little sceptical on why you’re dating Idia, but loves you all the same. His mom and Ortho decide to make this holiday extra special for you. They have extra decorations, extra food, extra presents, extra family bonding! And by the end of it, Idia’s social battery is drained but at least he can recharge in your arms that night.
Malleus Draconia:
He would never leave you alone for the holidays. Not to mention, he’s clingy. So he invites you home and introduces you to his grandma. She’s a little wary about you being human, but comes around after seeing how happy Malleus is. And then he takes you to Lilia’s house to actually celebrate. Silver and Sebek cook the food while Baur (who was apprehensive when he met you) and Malleus keeps Lilia out of the kitchen. It’s a small space but not cramped. Everyone eats, talks, laughs. And at the end of the day, everyone goes their separate ways. And Malleus gets to fall asleep with you. He couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate.
Lilia Vanrouge:
He’s inviting you over to his and Silver’s little cottage in the woods. It’s small, sure, but it’s very cozy. Lilia gives you a tour (that only takes 3 seconds). And then Sebek, his grandfather, and Malleus come over to celebrate with you. You and Baur work together to keep Lilia out of the kitchen while Silver and Sebek cook. You all eat, exchange presents and talk. And near the end of the night, you found Lilia outside alone. He smiles at you and thanks you for becoming part of his family.
Silver Vanrouge:
Lilia insists that he invites you over so he does (and falls asleep after you say yes). He shows you around the cottage he grew up in and even shows you some things he still has from his childhood. He and Sebek cook food while everyone talks and laughs together. It’s a good night. Just happy and domestic. And Silver wouldn’t have it any other way. He loves his family, and that includes you.
Sebek Zigvolt:
Yells his invite. Everyone knows that he invited you over. He introduces you to his siblings, parents, and grandfather. Most of them love you, but you can never be sure about Baur. He’ll do nice things but brush it off as you not being able to do it because you’re a human. His father and mother love you. And his father feels especially connected to you for being the only other full human there. You have a small celebration at Lilia’s house and then go back to Sebek’s to celebrate with his family. And it couldn’t be more perfect to him.

"MY TYPE IS..." with TWISTED WONDERLAND
synopsis: you respond to a "what's your type?" question with his name. how does he react?
characters: riddle, trey, cater, ace, & deuce x gn! painfully blunt! reader
includes: cursing, non-explicit makeout mention,
heartslabyul(here), savanaclaw+octavinelle, scarabia+pomefiore, ignihyde+disomania.
grim, as always, was nagging you with questions in front of your crush and group of friends. they're all left to their own devices until grim asks, "what's your type?" and the attention of your crush falls on you for your answer.
riddle rosehearts, dorm leader of heartslabyul.
"my ideal type? well, he's red-haired, with grey eyes, whose short and just happens to be the dorm leader of heartslabyul!"
the "ideal crush" in question was as red as his hair. he almost spits his tea out.
you practically confessed to riddle! or at least told him he's the type you're looking for.
riddle looks at you like you've gone mad, not even realizing he's been actively staring at you.
"[name], are you serious?" he questions, calming himself down. you look at him confused.
"why wouldn't i be serious? was my clear description of you, riddle rosehearts, my crush, not enough?"
he still looks at you confused. riddle fully understands, it's just.. you're being so straightforward about it! he can't handle how blunt you're being with your advances.
you sigh, "since you still aren't understanding, i like you riddle. is that clear enough?"
"no, i am not as red as my hair! ugh, yes, [name]. i understood just well. it just took me a while to get used to how blunt you were. but, i guess i could say you're my ideal type too. and i guess i like you too."
trey clover, vice dorm leader of heartslabyul.
"my type's obviously a green-haired, amber-eyes, glasses-wearing, hot baker with a clover on his cheek."
doth trey's ears deceive him? you obviously just described him. he has green hair, yellow eyes, glasses, and a clover on his cheek. plus, he's a baker!
trey doesn't even realize he's stared at you, the tart he made long forgotten on his plate.
you stare at him like you didn't just say he was your type. "um, [name]?" "yeah?"
trey looks at you, takes a deep breath and asks, "do you like me?"
"of course i do, silly! i wouldn't have described you as my type if i didn't."
trey takes a deep breath once again. thank the great seven.
"oh thank goodness. i liked you too but i didn't really know how to approach it. i was gonna make you a (favorite dessert) with "will you be mine?" on it, but i guess i don't have to anymore. oh? i should still do it? well, i guess you'll just have to come over to heartslabyul tonight for a surprise, dear."
cater diamond, heartslabyul third year.
"do you even have eyes? my type is this really cute guy with orange hair, green eyes, a red diamond on his face, a heartslabyul third year and magicam influencer! aka, the hottest guy in the world!"
he squeals. cater lets out a loud, high-pitched, squeal that would be associated with preppy high school girls in movies. people would have noticed if it wasn't for the already loud cafeteria.
he moves to the seat next to you, holding you by your waist.
"[name], do you really like me?" the smile on his face blinds you, but you can see he has a hint of worry in his green eyes. imagine how disappointed he'd be if you were to like some other heartslabyul guy that looked exactly like him.
you lean in, hooking a arm around his neck and using your hand to push his head into your lips. your lips kiss him and you can taste his lime tart and cherry chapstick.
"is.. is that enough to prove to you that i love you?" you pant after the kiss, looking at cater's reddened face.
"haha! that was more than enough, but how about you prove to me how much you love me a bit more, cutie?"
(you guys make out and have to be forcefully separated becuase the friend group does NOT approve of the pda.)
ace trappola, heartslabyul first year.
"okay, so he's a fucking pain in the ass and a stupid idiot but i love him, y'know? his orange-red hair and the stupid heart on his face and that silly grin his makes when he does something dumb like breaking riddles rules or messes up a potion or something.. he may be a fucking dumbass but he's a dumbass i have a crush on."
first of all, ouch.
he's not a pain in the ass or a stupid idiot! and his heart isn't stupid and his grin isn't silly- wait, did you say you have a crush on him?
ace is flattered, but that would never ever stop him from being a little shit about it.
i mean, you called him a stupid idiot you love, right? so that means that he can be a dumbass and you'll still forgive him, right? of course you will, he thinks.
"[nickname]~ you have a crush on me? aww, you're too cute! of course you'd like me, i'm hot, i have a cute grin,-- what! i'm not an idiot!"
deuce spade, heartslabyul first year.
"what a silly question! anyways, my type is tall, blue-haired, and a real cutie! he has this cute little spade on his face but hes kinda dumb. i love it about him though! the pout on his face he gets when he's confused is adorable!"
queue cute, confused deuce.
"aw look, he's doing the little confusion pout right now! ah, i have the biggest crush on him!" you gush, and the color drains from his face before it comes back as a vibrant red blush.
he bangs his head on the table, making a cute whimpering noise.
when he finally looks up, still blushing, he's met with your smile and almost topples over. you're gonna give him a heart attack!
"don't embarrass me like that! ugh, but since we're on the matter, y-yeah i like you, too."

Flufftober Day 31 - Proposal - Savanaclaw
Characters include: Leona Kingscholar, Ruggie Bucchi, Jack Howl
Word count: 1934
Leona
Who proposes: Leona
Leona is not a marriage type of guy. He’s not even much of a dating guy in general. It all seemed so arbitrary to him. It makes sense, considering the way he was raised growing up. In his world, marriage was less about love and more about power. They were merely glorified alliances used to unite kingdoms.
Then, Leona met you. At first, he considered you a fun fling. He would take you out, buy you whatever you asked for, and generally found you entertaining. He certainly never thought he would actually fall for you. But, eventually, even he couldn’t deny his feelings any longer, and from that day forward, your relationship was serious.
He loves you so, so much, but the thought of marriage was still a strange concept to him. For one, he would need the approval of his parents, which just seemed like a chore to him. He knew they would probably say yes to the idea, but it still felt like too much.
However, he would also be willing to do anything for you. So, after many discussions between the two of you, he decided to finally suck it up and ask his parents. It wasn’t easy for him, if only because it felt a bit humiliating, but his parents agreed, meaning he was now free to propose to you.
This is the one thing he wouldn’t let his parents control. Sure, he had to ask them for permission, but he would decide how to do it. This was between you and him, and he wanted to keep it that way.
He rejected the idea to propose using some family heirloom. It seemed cheap and unoriginal, and Leona didn’t want to do that to you. You deserve something that is just for you, something that shows how much he loves you.
So, after some debating, he settles on commissioning a custom ring from the best jewelry maker he can find. Money is no worry, of course, and he has the ring perfectly customized to suit you. It’s a beautiful ring, and he knows you’ll love it.
At this point, it’s no surprise that he’s planning to propose. The surprise left the moment he had to ask his parents. Still, he wanted this to be as memorable as possible, so he took it upon himself to make everything perfect.
You adored the gardens on the palace grounds. There’s such a variety of plants and animals, and you spend a lot of time there. Leona likes it too, but more so because it’s an excellent napping place. He figures it’s the best place to propose to you.
He guides you through the gardens, stopping in his favorite part, which is a hidden spot far away from the prying eyes around the palace. Once there, he gets down on one knee, presenting the ring to you.
It’s rare for Leona to get sappy, even with you, but he does here. This is the most emotion you’ve ever seen from him, and it makes you tear up a bit. He’s actually being vulnerable with you, which you love. You say yes, and he slips the ring on your finger.
Then, he pulls you down with him, laying on his side and holding you close to him. After all that he went through to propose to you, he needs a rest. The two of you take a well-deserved nap, knowing you’re going to need the energy for when you go talk to his family about the proposal.
Your wedding is, much to Leona’s displeasure, a grand event. He wanted something small, but he is still royalty, and this is a big deal. His family is in charge of planning most of the wedding, but you do get a small say here and there when there’s wiggle room. There’s plenty of guests, most of them allies of the country, but you did manage to sneak some of your friends onto the guest list as well. Leona mostly stuck to the sidelines unless he had to talk to someone, and you were more than happy to stay with him until you could finally return to your room.
Ruggie
Who proposed: Ruggie
Ruggie has not thought about marriage once. He has far too much going on to worry about such trivial things. Not to mention, Ruggie didn’t exactly have the best relationships to look up to as a kid. He has no parents, his Gran has always been single, and most of the couples in his neighborhood are toxic and on the verge of divorce.
It took Ruggie forever to even consider dating you. He couldn’t afford to for the longest time. He always had something going on, whether it be a new side hustle or a new scheme. Eventually, his schedule does clear up, and he finally agrees to date you.
From there, things go better than expected. He’s still constantly busy, but he’s able to clear up time for you, and that’s more than enough. Even when he’s swamped with work, Ruggie never neglects you, always taking time to ensure you’re happy with the relationship.
It takes him a long time to consider the idea of marrying you. He honestly likes where the two of you are at. He has a stable job, and he’s slowly climbing the corporate ladder. Of course, he still has a few side hustles here and there as well, just in case. You have a nice job of your own, and you’re both happy. Marriage just isn’t necessary in his eyes.
At least, not until his Gran gets the idea into his head. Ever since she first met you, she’s been bugging Ruggie about popping the question. It’s rare that someone from their village gets to live the life he’s currently living, and she thinks he deserves to marry you after how hard he worked to get here.
For a while, he thought she sounded ridiculous. He’s already happy where he’s at right now; why would being legally binded make it any different? But, the longer he sits with the idea, the more he can’t help but crave it. All things considered, the two of you are pretty comfortable right now. He could certainly afford a ring and a small wedding, but is that what he really wants?
Ruggie has spent so much time denying the idea of something like marriage because he always assumed it was something he could never have. Now that he’s legitimately faced with the possibility, he’s lost and pretty confused.
He mills it over for a while, trying his best to hide his feelings from you. Normally, he hates lying to you about something like this, but he doesn’t want to worry you, or, worse, freak you out. If you weren’t ready for marriage, him bringing it up might upset you, and he wants to avoid that.
Although, he can only hide it for so long before you start to notice. When you bring up your concerns about him, he breaks easily, and he spills his guts about how this has been eating him up inside. You listen as he talks, considering his words as you think of how to respond.
You love him, of course you do. And, whether or not he wants to marry you, that will never change. You reassure him that, whatever he decides, you’ll stick with him. If he does want to get married, you’ll be happy, and if he decides he’s comfortable where the two of you are at, you’ll be happy here too.
That’s pretty much all of the motivation he needs. Without a ring or a plan, he drops to one knee and proposes to you right there, promising to get you a ring the second you say yes. You do, and Ruggie immediately pulls you into a tight hug. Later that day, the two of you go ring shopping, and his Gran is very happy when you call her to tell her the news.
Your wedding would hardly be considered a wedding by most. It’s more like a small get-together in his neighborhood mostly consisting of the children he grew up taking care of. Many of them are grown now, but they all took part in the festivities. Ruggie, of course, is mostly excited about the food that was paid for by other people, and he makes sure to bring some to-go containers. You have to remind him that it is his wedding, and he can take home all of the leftovers if he wants. That makes him almost as happy as he is during your vows.
Jack
Who proposes: Jack
Jack has always secretly dreamed about marriage. Wolf beastmen are very family-oriented and prefer living in packs. It’s very common for them to find a partner early on and stick with them. Jack is no exception.
The second he laid eyes on you, he knew you were the one. It’s cheesy and a bit embarrassing, but it’s true. It was almost like his instincts were screaming at him when he saw you, and he knew right then and there.
Courting was a bit strange. You did not know what was happening for the longest time, and Jack was far too awkward to explain himself. Eventually, you manage to figure out what he’s trying to do, and you officially begin dating after that.
His family just absolutely adores you. They’re excited to have you as a part of the pack, which also makes Jack feel reassured that he made a good choice with you.
If confessing was an awkward experience, proposing is by far much worse for Jack. To be honest, he’s been wanting to propose since the second you both graduated, but he knew better than to spring it on you back then, and he’s still hesitating a bit in the present.
Realistically, he knows you’ll say yes, but he’s always been a bit shy about expressing such intense emotions, and proposing is nothing but expressing intense emotions. His family are a huge support for him during this time, as they always have been. They encourage him to go for it, and that does help him quite a bit.
He goes ring shopping, taking his time to pick out a ring that screams you. If you’re going to be wearing it, he wants you to like it.
His proposal is actually much simpler than he initially thought it would be. He gets home after ring shopping, and he asks to talk to you. You look at him expectantly, and he wastes no time in getting to the point. He kneels down in front of you, presenting the ring to you. He does feel his tail wagging a bit at the look of shock and awe on your face, and he knows he made the perfect choice.
You say yes, of course, and his tail goes turbo mode. Despite his confidence that you’d say yes, he was still nervous. This is a huge deal after all. Once some of the emotions have calmed down, he calls his parents, assuring them that everything went well. It’s cute hearing how excited they are, and they promise to come visit soon so they can see the ring in person.
Your wedding is a pretty average wedding in the best way possible. It’s fancy but not over-the-top, and the guest list is just big enough to fit the most important people in your lives. Jack did manage to convince you to get cupcakes that were decorated to look like cacti, and they actually came out looking adorable.

Gifts (Leona Kingscholar)🧡
Leona muses on the gift you leave him for Valentine's Day. (Based on the official merch twst 2024 Valentine gift messages)
Characters: Leona Kingscholar, Yuu/MC!Reader (Can be framed as platonic or romantic)
Words: 936 words, Leona's POV
Notes: Wanted to challenge myself to do something short and sweet in a few hours and was inspired to improve upon yet another dry official Leona gift message response.
--
Gifts.
They came easy over the years, like plucking an oversweet tart from a dessert tray. He was disliked, feared even, but lucky for him easy on the eyes — and still a prince to occasionally bow and scrape to. So many folks over the years were eager to oblige him and follow the traditions of the Sunset Savanna. Idolize the royals; the divine oligarchy. He was simply “lucky” enough to be born under that umbrella. That’s all.
Those gifts and attention fed him for a while, but if he was being honest, some part of him always remained hungry.
After all, shiny trinkets were nothing like a dusty old book or the heady cedar smell of a well-used chess set. What was the value of pretty baubles to sit on shelves of his empty room or clothes that cost more than some folks' houses?
Pillars of sand.
Was it so damn pathetic and vapid to want something not given by his family's twisted obligations or plucked from the hands of a quivering servant? No games. No more ulterior motives.
Wishful thinking, maybe or a childish habit that he had dumped in the trash, like all those boxes of sweets that long went bitter on his tongue.
He reminded himself that others had suffered much worse than not being doted on in their preferred way. However, this reality failed to take away his distaste for each and every gift. Tch. How many times would he have to snuff out that damn sentimentality that he had been so “lucky” to inherit?
Leona’s eyes fell upon the small bottle vial in his palm and the wooden lion tag attached, tied carefully around the bottle. It had been nestled on the corner of his bed when he returned from Spelldrive practice this morning, all nice and wrapped in shiny paper.
His mouth crinkled and a small sound rumbled from his chest without his permission. Relief of some kind maybe. It had been one of the first gifts he received that was not for his birthday or from his family.
A friendly gesture or…somethin’ more insidious?
To think, someone who came to this world with nothin’ goin’ outta their way to get him somethin’...special.
But, “friends” weren’t something he kept. Instead, he had a collection of starry-eyed froshes, classmates, rivals, those few worthy of his respect. And then there was Ruggie of course but, would he be around if not for the understanding they had come to? Best not to dwell on it now.
Leona chuckled watching the amber liquid swish around the curved glass like liquid gold. How bold of them to choose a scent for him of all things. Beastfolk were sensitive to ‘em and he especially. But, they had been the brash and precocious type ever since they came to this school. Always skipping steps to pull off an advanced move.
Regardless of how big of a crowd he’d ever have cheerin’ at one of his games or how many brilliant trinkets he’d be gifted, nothing beat his chosen audience of one. Who, even after seeing firsthand all the grimy parts of him...still havin’ the audacity to stick around so long.
His eyes fell over to the chessboard at the corner of his desk. Brave little creature indeed, and brimming with Savanaclaw tenacity. A little pawn that made it to the other side of the board, ready to be crowned.
No way they knew the implication of such a small gesture, how important scents were to beastfolk, not that he was one for tradition, of course. Still, He brought the bottle to his nose for the umpteenth time as he leaned forward on his elbows. In an odd way, it reminded him of the gardens back at home when it rained, all those lonely hours pouring over books and chess games.
Alone but…if he concreted enough, he was able to catch a whiff of the oil where their fingers touched the glass. Yes, in their note they had mentioned that this scent reminded them of him, but to his nose it was missing something. A key complementing note. A missing piece.
The scent of a little herbivore turned into a formidable beast that he couldn’t get out of his head.
His brow furrowed as he glanced over at the small pile of notes, discarded by his boots. Then he tried again this time with more wit.
"Hey– Allow me to thank you for your generous gift. Heh. I can’t believe you actually picked out a halfway-decent fragrance. I might actually keep this. I thought about sending you something in return if the mood struck me, but this thank you note should do the job just fine, right?"
Leona kept it short and sweet. He knew they two were past formalities, but it was amusing to still play the game a little. He had been waiting for them to approach him in such a bold way, and finally, he had been rewarded for his saintly patience. Still, he wasn’t ready to show his hand yet, well-
He allowed sentimentality to win this time and flipped over the note, scrawling a little something extra for their eyes only.
“P.S. If you were gonna treat your lion so nice…the least ya could do is make good on such bold intentions and show him some proper attention.”
He chuckled again as he let the paper slip from his fingers, finally satisfied with what he had come up with. Honestly, it didn't matter much what he wrote. Maybe he was becoming sentimental in his “old” age but he knew...that they would always find each other in the middle.
It was their move again.
Besides, it was only fair that he repay them properly. Etiquette and all that.

I Don’t Care!: Savanaclaw
Heartslabyul - Octavinelle - Scarabia - Pomfiore - Ignihyde - Diasomnia
Romantic Jealousy: Based on real or imagined threats to a romantic relationship. There could be a history of infidelity or flirtations; however, this could also be solely based on insecurities. Sexual/Suspicious Jealousy: Based on fears that a partner may have cheated or be engaged in inappropriate communication.
Does he get jealous?
Leona Kingscholar
Leona Kingscholar is a very jealous man, he doesn't mind telling you either. But that's hard to do when they person making him jealous is Idia...
Leona had no issues with you having friends. That never bothered him. What bothered him was you hanging around the local Radish Sprout for too long.
He had finally finished up with his mandatory MagiShift practice. Being the captain, he had to oversee everyone getting out of the locker room before dismissal. A responsibility he loathed, but dismissal was necessary after every practice. The moment he finished, he shot you a short text. He wanted to see you.
Leona didn't like to come off as needy. He didn't ever want to seem clingy. But he didn't mind telling you if he was bothered by something. And for some reason he was bothered by your response. You cheerfully responded, sending a photo of yourself at a high up angle. Across from you was Idia wrapping some strange looking hard candy with a small, fanged smile.
Leona wasn't irritable and marching into the school because you were playing a board game with another Housewarden. He was angry because of Idia. The wasn't looking at the camera. He was staring at you with longing in his honey colored eyes. The tips of his hair a faded pink as he was immortalized in the photo unwrapping his candy. And that is what made Leona so mad. The longer it took him to reach the club room the angrier he started to feel.
Or was it insecurity? His steps slowed as he watched you exit the club room, waving goodbye to the remaining members with a smile. Leona's body began to untense and he exhaled through his nose. His tail flicked in irritation, but he did his best to swallow down those feelings and instead replace them with his usual confidence. "There you are." He huffed in relief seeing that you were alone, starting to circle behind you. His cheek rubbed against your head as he slipped an arm around your torso.
There was no reason to be jealous. He had nothing to worry about. He was leagues better than Idia. That's why you leaned against him and accepted his loving touches. And Radish Sprout was stuck with staring.
Ruggie Bucchi
Ruggie Bucchi is more insecure than he is jealous. But when Jade starts getting close to you he wonders if insecurity is the same as jealousy...
Ruggie tapped his foot from underneath the table. He had picked you as his partner for a group project, of course, Grim was the plus one. But today he had been replaced due to a tuna sandwich related tummy ache. Jade Leech was in his place.
Ruggie was never the biggest fan of either of the Tweels, but something about Jade really got underneath his skin. Something he chalked up to being possessiveness over you. Meaning, Ruggie was just being insecure over nothing. His eyes lingered from the homework project, and up to you, then to Jade. The merman was talking with you about something Ruggie deemed pointless.
His gloved hands would inch close to yours as he offered a section of his mountain guide. Your project did happen to be on a type of fungus that could make your hair grow 12 inches with just a single bite. But Jade just wanted to talk. Only to you. You had leaned in to look at his guide book with a smile. Jade's expression was soft with a smile curled on his face. A faint flush to his cheeks as his fingers nearly brushed yours.
Now Ruggie was getting irritated. "Jade, who gives a fuck?" Ruggie growled with his eyebrows knit tightly. Why was this asshole even here?! The two looked up in shock, eyes meeting Ruggie's as the beastman began to sink into his chair. Jade's eyebrows raised in amusement, and you looked at the hyena in horror. "Ruggie! I'm sorry Jade he doesn't mean that." Yes he does. He did mean it. Ruggie didn't want confrontation, but he was sick of how close Jade was getting.
"Oh my, I apologize." Jade pulled away with his smile widening. His teeth now exposed as the two locked eyes. "Have I hurt the little kitty's feelings?" He chuckled, and Ruggie stopped tapping his foot. He started to replace his jealousy with anger. And his mind began to linger. "I heard eel tastes great over rice."
Jack Howl
Jack was always a stone faced individual. Jealousy is below him. Until Vil started hanging around…
Jack adored his upperclassman. Especially since they were childhood friends. Vil was someone worth his respect. There was no reason to stoop to a bottom feeder emotion like jealousy. The week and overly emotional are jealous.
So Jack couldn't process why he had this overwhelming emotion inside of him. Vil stood only a few feet from you with a script in one hand. You were doing the same. The older student had approached the both of you, specifically you. Asking if you could spare him some time. A club member had gotten extremely sick, but they were supposed to be rehearsing lines with Vil that afternoon. So, here the both of you were.
Jack had seated himself at an empty table, mostly scrolling through MagiCam while Vil borrowed you for practice. Occasionally his eyes would dart up to see Vil circling around you with a smile as he rehearsed. The scene was... Somewhat intimate. Vil was playing the role of a widow, hungry for a new, much richer lover to fill a hole in his heart. You were supposed to be playing the rich victim, oblivious to the horrors that awaited you. Of course, Vil had told you there may be a small arm touch while rehearsing, but nothing more. Jack didn't mind if you didn't.
He told himself he didn't mind if you didn't. But he was struggling to bury the urge to drag you away with a scowl. Vil's movements were so elegant. Like he was leading you in a romantic dance. Jack couldn't do that. His way with words seemed to make your eyes sparkle as you recited the lines along with him. Jack couldn't get that reaction out of you. He started to feel less angry and more anxious. MagiCam was no longer interesting, and he continued to watch the scene between you unfold.
When the club ended, Vil chirped about how happy he was to have you both around as his little helpers. "Thank you my little sweet potato! You saved me today. I'll have to give you a proper reward of some kind." He sang with his hands clasped together. This was the kindest response Vil had ever given someone. "And thank you for supervising Jack. I'm sorry if it was boring for you." Vil gently pinched the younger boys cheek, getting a grunt in response. Vil waved goodbye, and the two of you began to walk to the Hall of Mirrors.
Jack was quiet, listening to you excitedly talk about how much fun you had preforming the scene with Vil. Jack was a big fan of personal space. But he couldn't help but lace his fingers with yours for the rest of the walk.

*MC and Malleus wander leisurely through the stalls, taking their time to explore each one before the tournament, knowing they have plenty of time to spare.*
Malleus: I wish I could have persuaded Crowley to allow you to participate in the tournament.
Malleus: It didn’t help that Lilia expressed his concerns. *glances at his child*
Malleus: They have no idea how talented you are.
MC: *smiles* You're flattering me too much, Dada.
Malleus: No, I'm simply telling the truth.
MC: *chuckles*
Azul: Ah, so it's the new student.
Jade: Yes. Although I don't quite grasp Leona's intention, from my perspective, they haven't offended anyone.
Azul: I see. So they're just a pawn in this game. *chuckles*
Azul: I could put them to use.
Azul: I just hope they don't end up seriously injured like last time.
Jade: *smiles* I'll ensure they receive the proper treatment so that they feel indebted to us.
Azul: *smirks* As expected of you, Jade.
Malleus: I should get going now. Will you be alright on your own?
MC: *gives him a reassuring smile* Yes, Dada.
Malleus: *looking unconvinced, he gives his child a glance that seems to question whether they’re really sure*
MC: *chuckles* Yes, Dada.
Malleus: ...
Malleus: *sigh* If you say so, but I will have some of our guards accompany you later.
Malleus: *smirks* However, you can dismiss them if they're not enjoyable to be around.
MC: Dada...
Malleus: *chuckles* I'm just kidding.
MC: *smiles* Good luck with the tournament, Dada.
Malleus: I'll win first place right away and return to you. Then we'll enjoy the festivities together.
MC: Alright.
MC: *stood in place even after their father had left for the game*
MC: ...
Ruggie: You know you’re making it easier for us, right?
The Savanaclaw students: *chuckles as they approach them from behind*
MC: There’s no need to cause a disturbance. I assume you’ve chosen a location, at least?
Ruggie: Of course. If you'll just follow us.
*The game has begun, yet Leona still hasn’t received any updates from Ruggie or the other members of his dorm.*
Leona: *feels uneasy about it*
Leona: Have they been caught?
Leona: *glances in Malleus's direction* No, that's not possible.
Leona: If they were, that lizard would've rushed out of this place.
Leona: *clicks his tongue* Ruggie...
Ruggie: *struggles to stand up while the other Savanaclaw students with him lie unconscious on the ground*
Ruggie: You... You can fight?
MC: I wouldn’t claim that I do. I just happened to borrow a whip from the headmage, and I’m glad it turned out to be useful.
Ruggie: *winced* Don't tell me you knew about our plan?
MC: ...
MC: Yes.
Ruggie: Who told you?!
MC: Does it matter?
Ruggie: ...
Ruggie: *sighs in defeat* Leona's going to be mad about this.
MC: ...
MC: Da-
MC: ...My dorm leader will definitely come looking for me after the tournament. Let’s head to the infirmary so you can get treated.
Ruggie: *eyes widened* Huh?
MC: I can only help you since you’re still conscious. Unfortunately, the others will need to wake up on their own.
MC: *smiles sincerely at him* *holds out their hand*
Ruggie: ...
Ruggie: *swats their hand away* I can go there on my own.
MC: ...
Ruggie: *turns to walk away but collapses after just a few steps*
MC: ...
*Diasomnia won first place again, with Savanaclaw coming in second. Leona was very displeased with the outcome.*
Jack: What happened with Ruggie-senpai? He didn't show up.
Savanaclaw student A: And the others too.
Leona: ...
Malleus: *approaches him* Congratulations, Kingscholar.
Leona: Huh?
Malleus: You did remarkably well, considering that half of your members didn’t participate.
Leona: ...
Malleus: *gives him a menacing look*
Leona: Grr...
Lilia: Malleus, MC is in the infirmary helping the injured Savanaclaw students.
Malleus: I see.
Malleus: They’re fortunate that they went easy on them.
Leona: *his eyes widened*
Malleus: *glances at him with a smirk*

Happy New Year✨️🎈🎊
Story: Yuu and Grim spend their New Year with each dorm + Ramshackle dorm
Reader is Yuu
TW: none, just wishing a good and healthy year🎉
❤️Heartslabyul🖤
The New Year’s celebration at Heartslabyul was in full swing, and Yuu could hardly believe the amount of effort that had gone into it. The rose garden sparkled with fairy lights, red and white roses seemed to glow in the moonlight, and the long tea table was adorned with an array of pastries, tarts, and steaming teapots. The decorations were pristine, though Yuu suspected they only looked that way because Trey had quietly cleaned up after Ace and Deuce’s haphazard attempts.
“Oi, Yuu, look at this spread!” Grim said, hopping onto the table and sniffing a tart. “This is what I call a feast fit for the Great Grim-sama!”
“Get down before Riddle sees you,” Yuu whispered, quickly pulling Grim back into their lap. “I don’t want to get dragged into another lecture.”
As if summoned by the mere mention of his name, Riddle appeared, straightening his blazer. “I trust everything is in order for the midnight countdown? I expect everyone to behave themselves and follow the rules. This is a formal occasion, after all.”
“Yes, sir!” Deuce said earnestly, while Ace muttered something about it being a party, not a trial.
The evening passed with laughter and games, though not without its share of chaos. Cater had everyone posing for photos, insisting on “just one more” until even Riddle begrudgingly joined in. Grim spent most of the time sneaking treats, though he loudly denied it when Trey caught him with powdered sugar on his nose.
As the clock neared midnight, the group gathered in the garden, bundled in scarves and coats against the winter chill. Sparklers flickered in the dark, their light reflecting in the frost-dusted roses.
“All right, everyone,” Riddle said, his voice firm but softer than usual. “It’s almost time. Let’s make this a New Year’s to remember.”
Yuu glanced at Grim, who had nestled against their side, his tail curling around their arm. “Grim, you ready?”
“Pfft, of course I am! This is gonna be my year,” Grim said, puffing out his chest. “The year Grim-sama rises to greatness!”
As the countdown began, voices overlapping in excitement, Yuu couldn’t help but smile. Being here, with this strange and wonderful group, felt like a gift.
“Happy New Year!"
The garden erupted in cheers as fireworks exploded overhead, painting the sky with bursts of red, gold, and silver. Grim let out a delighted yowl, jumping up to chase a stray spark that flickered down toward the ground.
Riddle, for once, didn’t scold him. Instead, he raised a teacup in a quiet toast. “To a year of success and order,” he said.
“And fun,” Ace added with a grin, dodging a playful punch from Deuce.
Yuu felt a warm glow settle in their chest as they watched their friends bicker, laugh, and celebrate together. The New Year stretched ahead, full of possibilities. Whatever challenges came next, they knew they wouldn’t face them alone.
As the fireworks faded and the group slowly drifted back inside, Grim fell asleep against Yuu’s shoulder, his soft snores blending with the faint hum of lingering magic in the air.
“Happy New Year, Grim,” Yuu whispered, their voice barely audible above the quiet. The little monster only snuggled closer in response, and Yuu couldn’t think of a better way to start the year.

💛Savanaclaw🖤
The New Year’s celebration at Savanaclaw was unlike anything Yuu had ever experienced before. The dorm was alive with energy, the air filled with the rich scent of grilled meat and the crackling sound of the enormous bonfire that had been built in the center of the courtyard. The fire’s golden light danced across the sandstone walls, casting long shadows that flickered like living beasts.
Yuu stepped into the dorm, Grim perched on their shoulder, his nose twitching as he sniffed the air. "Oh, yeah! This is the place to be for New Year’s!” Grim said, practically drooling as his eyes locked onto the buffet table piled high with roasted meat, steaming bowls of stew, and skewers sizzling over open flames.
“You better not embarrass me,” Yuu muttered, but Grim was already scrambling down and bounding toward the food.
Nearby, Jack was stacking logs by the bonfire, his muscular arms flexing with every movement. He gave Yuu a quick nod as they approached. “Good to see you here. Savanaclaw knows how to celebrate New Year’s the right way.”
“Looks like it,” Yuu replied, watching as a group of students broke into a spirited wrestling match not far from the fire.
“Oi, herbivore,” came a lazy voice from the shadows. Yuu turned to see Leona lounging on a pile of cushions under the shade of a large tent, his golden eyes glinting in the firelight. “Try not to get caught up in the chaos. Savanaclaw’s parties aren’t for the faint of heart.”
“I can handle it,” Yuu replied, crossing their arms.
Leona smirked. “We’ll see about that.”
As the night went on, the celebration grew wilder. The bonfire roared higher, and the students gathered around it, laughing and challenging each other to games of strength and speed.
Jack tried to teach Yuu how to arm-wrestle, but Yuu’s attempts were quickly interrupted by Grim, who declared himself the "strongest beast" and demanded a match with Jack. It ended with Grim flat on his back, his tail twitching indignantly as Jack chuckled.
Meanwhile, Leona watched from his spot, only getting involved when someone dared to challenge him to a game of strategy. He won every time, his smug grin growing wider with each victory.
Grim, determined to prove his worth, entered a tug-of-war contest, gripping a rope with his teeth against a team of Savanaclaw students. Yuu cheered him on, though it ended in comedic disaster when Grim’s tiny legs couldn’t hold up, and he was sent flying into a pile of hay.
As the clock neared midnight, everyone gathered closer to the bonfire. The heat was almost overwhelming, but the energy was infectious.
Leona finally rose from his spot, stretching lazily as he walked toward the fire. His presence commanded attention, and the rowdy group fell silent as he spoke.
“Here’s to another year,” he said, his voice carrying effortlessly. “Another chance to prove we’re the strongest, the smartest, and the ones to beat. Don’t slack off, and don’t waste it.”
A cheer erupted from the crowd as the countdown began. Yuu joined in, the excitement bubbling in their chest as the numbers grew louder.
“Three… two… one… Happy New Year!”
The roar of voices was matched only by the roar of the bonfire as someone threw another log onto it, sending sparks spiraling into the night sky. The celebration resumed immediately, drums beating in a rhythmic cadence as students danced around the flames.
Grim, perched on Yuu’s shoulder once more, licked a bit of stew off his paw. “Not bad, huh? We fit right in with these guys!”
Yuu laughed, watching the wild revelry unfold. Despite the chaos, the sense of camaraderie was undeniable. This was a place where strength was celebrated, where even the smallest victories mattered.
Leona passed by, his usual smirk softened just slightly. “You survived the night, herbivore. Not bad.”
“Happy New Year to you too, Leona,” Yuu replied, smiling.
As the party raged on into the early hours, Yuu found themselves feeling strangely at home among the howls, laughter, and blazing firelight. Another year had begun, and it was bound to be unforgettable.

💜Octavinelle🩶
The New Year’s celebration at Octavinelle was unlike any other, a mix of elegance and intrigue that left Yuu wondering what kind of tricks Azul and the twins had up their sleeves. The entrance to the dorm was lit with soft, bioluminescent lights that shimmered like underwater stars, casting the coral-like walls of the dorm in an otherworldly glow.
“Oi, Yuu, you sure this is a party? It looks more like one of Azul’s fancy business meetings,” Grim muttered as they stepped inside.
“I heard that,” came Azul’s smooth voice, his smile sharp as he emerged from behind a nearby pillar. “But rest assured, this is a party. Octavinelle knows how to ring in the New Year with style.”
Grim immediately perked up at the sight of a lavish buffet spread across the central lounge. Trays of fresh seafood, sparkling drinks, and desserts that glittered like gemstones covered the tables. “Now this is more like it!” Grim exclaimed, dashing toward the food.
“Don’t eat too much, or you might find yourself signing a contract,” Yuu warned, earning a laugh from Azul.
“Always so suspicious,” Azul said, adjusting his glasses. “But tonight, I’m simply a host. No contracts, I promise… unless you want one.”
The lounge was transformed into an underwater ballroom, with glassy floors reflecting the soft blue-green lights. Floyd had strung glowing jellyfish decorations from the ceiling, their tendrils swaying gently as if floating in water.
“Isn’t it so pretty, Shrimpy?” Floyd asked, suddenly appearing beside Yuu with his signature grin. “Makes you feel like you’re in the deep sea, huh?”
“Yeah, it’s amazing,” Yuu said, glancing around. “Did you help with this?”
“Nah, I just did the fun parts. Azul did all the boring stuff, like planning.” Floyd leaned closer, his mismatched eyes gleaming. “You gonna dance later? I’ll join if it looks fun.”
Before Yuu could respond, Jade approached, his posture as impeccable as ever. “Now, Floyd, don’t scare our guest. They’ve only just arrived.” He turned to Yuu with a polite smile. “Do let me know if you need anything. Tonight, we aim to ensure all our guests leave with fond memories.”
“Fond memories, huh?” Yuu said with a laugh. “I’ll hold you to that.”
As the clock crept toward midnight, the atmosphere in the lounge shifted. Azul stood at the head of the room, raising a glass as the lights dimmed, leaving only the glow of the jellyfish and the soft reflections in the glass walls.
“My dear friends and guests,” Azul began, his voice smooth and commanding, “thank you for joining us tonight. The New Year is a time for opportunity, for growth, and for making dreams come true. Let us toast to a prosperous year ahead.”
The crowd raised their glasses, and the countdown began.
“Ten… nine…”
Yuu glanced around, noting how even Floyd seemed unusually focused, his grin replaced by a curious intensity. Jade stood quietly, his sharp eyes watching everything like a predator waiting for the right moment.
“Three… two… one… Happy New Year!”
The room erupted in cheers, and the jellyfish decorations lit up brilliantly, their tendrils glowing with a soft golden hue. A gentle mist rolled over the glassy floor, making the entire lounge look like an enchanted underwater realm.
As the festivities continued, Yuu found themselves sitting with Azul at one of the quieter tables. Grim was nearby, fast asleep with a belly full of food, snoring softly.
“Enjoying yourself?” Azul asked, his voice quieter now.
“Yeah, it’s been… magical,” Yuu admitted, looking around at the elegant decorations and the laughing students. “You really know how to throw a party.”
Azul’s smile grew, though it held a hint of his usual cunning. “I’m glad to hear that. Octavinelle prides itself on offering unforgettable experiences.”
Floyd suddenly slid into the seat beside Yuu, his usual energy restored. “Shrimpy, you didn’t even dance! Next time, I’m dragging you out there.”
“Be careful with your ‘dragging,’ Floyd,” Jade said, appearing with a tray of sparkling drinks. “We wouldn’t want to scare them off before next year’s celebration.”
Yuu laughed, feeling oddly at ease despite the chaotic trio. As the party carried on, they couldn’t help but think that celebrating New Year’s in Octavinelle was like stepping into a dream—beautiful, mysterious, and just a little dangerous.
As the lights dimmed and the music softened, Yuu leaned back, watching the glittering room with a content smile. Whatever the new year brought, they were ready.

❤️Scarabia💛
The New Year’s celebration at Scarabia was a dazzling, sunlit affair that glowed with the warmth and vibrancy of its hosts. As Yuu stepped into the dorm, the rich scent of spiced tea and honeyed pastries wafted through the air, accompanied by the rhythmic beat of drums and the gentle chiming of bells.
The main courtyard had been transformed into a festival of light and color. Golden lanterns swayed gently from the tall palm trees, and colorful carpets covered the sandy ground, creating a space that was both luxurious and inviting.
“Welcome, my friend!” came Kalim’s cheerful voice, cutting through the hum of conversation and music. He bounded over, his smile as bright as the stars above. “I’m so glad you could join us! Tonight’s going to be amazing!”
Before Yuu could respond, Grim let out an excited yowl. “Look at all this food! This is my kinda party!”
Jamil appeared behind Kalim, his expression calm but with a hint of exasperation. “Kalim, maybe let them settle in before overwhelming them.” He turned to Yuu, nodding politely. “If you need anything, just let me know.”
“Thanks, Jamil,” Yuu said, glancing around. “This is incredible.”
Kalim clapped his hands together. “Then let’s make it a night to remember!”
The evening began with a feast. Long tables were laden with dishes that seemed endless: roasted meats, bowls of vibrant fruits, golden breads drizzled with honey, and desserts spiced with cinnamon and cardamom. Kalim flitted from guest to guest, making sure everyone was enjoying themselves.
“Try this!” Kalim said, handing Yuu a small bowl of something sweet and sticky. “It’s my favorite!”
Grim, meanwhile, had already piled his plate high and was halfway through a mountain of food. “This is paradise,” he said, crumbs flying everywhere.
After the feast, the courtyard came alive with music and dancing. Drummers sat in a circle, their hands moving with practiced precision, while a few students twirled in intricate patterns, their robes catching the firelight.
“Come on, Yuu! Dance with me!” Kalim said, grabbing their hand and pulling them toward the center of the courtyard.
Yuu laughed but didn’t resist, letting Kalim’s infectious energy guide them. Around them, students cheered and clapped to the rhythm, the joy in the air palpable.
Even Jamil, usually so reserved, seemed to relax. He stood at the edge of the crowd, a faint smile on his face as he watched the celebration unfold.
As midnight approached, Kalim led everyone to the highest balcony of Scarabia, where the view stretched out over the golden sands of the desert. The sky was clear, the stars shining brighter than ever.
“Okay, everyone!” Kalim said, his voice full of excitement. “It’s almost time! Let’s make a wish for the new year!”
The crowd grew quiet as the countdown began, voices echoing across the open desert.
“Ten… nine… eight…”
Yuu glanced at Kalim, who was practically bouncing with excitement, and then at Jamil, whose calm gaze softened as he looked out over the horizon.
“Three… two… one… Happy New Year!”
Cheers erupted, and Kalim threw his arms around Yuu in an exuberant hug. “Happy New Year! I just know this one’s going to be the best yet!”
Fireworks burst into the sky, painting it with shimmering golds, blues, and reds. The colors reflected off the sand, making it look like the desert itself was alight with magic.
As the celebration wound down, Yuu found themselves sitting on a soft carpet near the fire, sipping a cup of spiced tea. Grim was curled up beside them, snoring contentedly with a full belly.
Kalim plopped down next to them, his energy still unflagging. “Wasn’t that amazing? We should do this every year!”
Yuu smiled. “It was perfect. Thanks for inviting us.”
Jamil joined them, holding his own cup of tea. “Kalim may be impulsive, but he does know how to bring people together,” he admitted.
The three of them sat in comfortable silence, watching the last of the fireworks fade into the night. The desert stretched out around them, vast and timeless, a reminder of the adventures yet to come.
As Yuu leaned back against the cushions, they couldn’t help but feel a sense of peace. The new year had begun, and here, under the starlit sky of Scarabia, anything felt possible.

💜Pomefiore❤️
The New Year’s celebration at Pomefiore was nothing short of extravagant. The dorm, known for its opulence and polished charm, had been transformed into an elegant ballroom of shimmering gold and silver. Long, crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, casting soft glows that sparkled off the sleek marble floors. There was an air of refinement, a sense of quiet but undeniable luxury.
As Yuu entered, they couldn’t help but feel like they’d stepped into a fairy tale. The walls were lined with velvety curtains in shades of lavender and amethyst, and the air was perfumed with the delicate scent of floral arrangements. A string quartet played soft, classical music in the corner, providing the perfect background for the evening’s festivities.
Grim, perched on Yuu’s shoulder, let out an impressed whistle. “Wow, this place looks like a palace! Think they’ll let me eat everything in sight?”
“Don’t get any ideas,” Yuu warned, though a smile tugged at their lips.
Before they could go further into the grand hall, a voice as smooth as silk called out to them. “Ah, Yuu, you’ve arrived. Welcome to Pomefiore’s New Year’s gala.”
Yuu turned to see Vil Schoenheit, his presence immediately commanding the room. His elegant attire shimmered under the lights, his silver hair impeccably styled. He gave them a cool, perfect smile. “I trust you’re prepared for a night of refinement?”
“I’m not sure I could ever be as prepared as you,” Yuu said with a laugh, trying not to feel too out of place.
“Don’t worry,” Vil said, with a gracious tilt of his head. “Tonight is for all of us, regardless of rank or appearance. Let’s make it unforgettable, shall we?”
The evening was a whirlwind of luxury. The menu was carefully curated, with fine delicacies laid out on golden platters: foie gras, delicate pastries, and vibrant fruits from across the world. The table stretched endlessly, gleaming in the soft candlelight. Even Grim was caught in a moment of awe, though he couldn’t resist sneaking a bite of a particularly shiny pastry before Yuu could stop him.
“Grim!” Yuu hissed, but Grim only grinned around the food. “What? I’m just enjoying the refined cuisine,” he said, his mouth full.
As the night went on, Pomefiore’s guests mingled, their laughter and chatter soft and refined, fitting the tone of the dorm. Vil moved among the crowd, exchanging words with students, offering quiet compliments, and keeping the atmosphere impeccably elegant. He spoke to each person like they were the most important guest, making everyone feel like they belonged in such a stunning setting.
Yuu, on the other hand, found themselves lost in the glamour of it all. Rook Hunt appeared beside them, his gaze sharp and observant as always. “Ah, mon cher Yuu! I see you are entranced by the beauty of this evening. But one cannot merely admire—one must partake! There are many moments waiting to be captured in this night’s story.”
“I’m not sure if I’m ready for all that,” Yuu chuckled, glancing around. “This is… a lot.”
“But of course! The world of Pomefiore can be overwhelming, but I believe you have the heart of an adventurer. Embrace it! Let us enjoy tonight’s splendor.”
As the clock neared midnight, the lights dimmed, and the guests gathered around a large fountain at the center of the hall. It was decorated with crystal ice sculptures and surrounded by a circle of delicate candles. The air was filled with the soft sound of a string quartet playing a slow, melodic tune.
Vil stood at the front, raising his glass. “To a new year,” he began, his voice steady and commanding. “A year where we all rise to greater heights, where beauty and grace continue to shine in everything we do. Let’s make this year unforgettable.”
Everyone raised their glasses, their expressions solemn, but filled with hope. The countdown began.
“Ten… nine…”
Yuu glanced at Grim, who was standing next to them, nervously eyeing the sparkling drink in front of him. “You’re not planning to drink that, are you?” Yuu asked, though they already knew the answer.
“Who, me? Nah, I’m just admiring it. But if I accidentally spill some…” Grim said with a sly grin.
“Three… two… one… Happy New Year!”
As the clock struck midnight, fireworks erupted outside the windows, lighting up the night sky with brilliant bursts of color. The guests cheered, their faces illuminated in the reflection of the fireworks. A soft warmth spread through the room, and even Vil allowed himself a rare, genuine smile.
The rest of the evening unfolded in a graceful rhythm. Guests danced slowly to the music, the atmosphere serene and elegant. Rook had already started capturing moments on his camera, whispering quietly about finding the perfect angle.
Yuu, feeling a sense of peace amidst the lavish surroundings, found themselves standing by the fountain with Vil.
“Thank you for letting us be a part of this,” Yuu said, their voice soft but sincere.
Vil looked over at them, his smile a mixture of pride and something gentler. “It was my pleasure. This night was about more than just perfection—it was about celebrating the efforts of everyone here, no matter how small.”
As the night wore on, Yuu found themselves at ease, surrounded by a group of people who valued beauty, elegance, and their own quiet strength. The grand celebration had felt like something out of a dream, and as the final notes of music played, they realized the true gift of the evening was the chance to experience something so rare—an unforgettable New Year, spent with the unforgettable people of Pomefiore.

💙Ignihyde🖤
The New Year’s celebration at Ignihyde was unlike any other. The dorm, typically dark and quiet, had transformed into a cozy and peculiar space, suited to its inhabitants’ unique charm. The fluorescent lights cast a cool, neon glow over the rooms, giving the atmosphere a digital, almost virtual feel. There were no grand decorations, no lavish feastsbut the sense of camaraderie was there, in its own, understated way.
Yuu entered, Grim on their shoulder, looking around the familiar but surprisingly festive space. Large monitors displayed dynamic, colorful graphics, almost like a tech-themed fireworks show, while soft, ambient music filled the background, perfectly balanced for a calm yet engaging evening.
“Yuu! Grim!” Idia Shroud’s voice echoed from the other side of the room, and Yuu turned to see him sitting at a desk, his face illuminated by the glow of a screen. His usual hoodie was replaced with a slightly fancier version, though it still carried the same signature digital motif. “Come in! It’s time to start the…uh, the celebration!”
“Looks pretty low-key,” Yuu said, taking in the quiet room. There were a few chairs scattered around, and some digital party games set up on various screens. It was clear Idia wasn’t one for grandiose gatherings, but the effort was there.
“I—I tried! I thought maybe a virtual New Year’s event would be cool, so I’ve got a bunch of online games set up for everyone to play together,” Idia explained, fidgeting nervously. “I mean, it’s not like…uh, Pomefiore’s or anything, but I think it’ll be fun!”
Grim sniffed the air and immediately noticed a tray of snacks. “I’m sold. No fancy parties, but the snacks are top-tier!”
Yuu chuckled as Grim bounded over to grab a handful of chips. “Well, you know how to keep Grim happy.”
While most of the dorm’s activities were centered around virtual games, there was an undeniable charm to how things unfolded. Idia introduced the group to a series of multiplayer games, each more ridiculous than the last. Some involved outrageous challenges, others were simple strategy games, but all of them carried Idia’s signature flair for creating unique experiences.
Despite the digital nature of the event, there was something almost personal about it. Idia had carefully chosen each game to ensure everyone could participate without feeling overwhelmed. Even Grim, though clumsy, found himself absorbed in a silly online battle.
“Take that!” Grim yelled, pointing at the screen, where his character was decimating the competition. “I’m invincible!”
Yuu laughed, sitting next to Idia, who was engrossed in his own gaming session. “You really put a lot of effort into this, didn’t you?”
“I guess so,” Idia muttered, his voice slightly embarrassed. “I mean, I didn’t want it to be, like, boring. I know I'm not great at throwing parties in real life, but I can at least set up something fun in the digital world.”
“You’ve done a great job,” Yuu said, genuinely impressed by the thought he’d put into it. “It’s a nice change of pace.”
As midnight approached, the mood shifted. The game paused momentarily, and everyone gathered in front of a large screen where Idia had set up a countdown timer. The numbers ticked down slowly, almost like a ticking clock in an old video game. There was a brief pause before Idia, suddenly realizing it was almost time, quickly scrambled to adjust a few settings.
“Alright! We’re almost there! Time to celebrate!” Idia said, his voice a little shaky, but there was a sparkle of excitement behind it.
Grim let out an exaggerated yawn, rolling over onto the couch. “Ugh, it’s already past midnight? Is this party even real?”
“Grim!” Yuu scolded lightly, but then smiled.
With only moments left, the countdown continued, and the screen filled with bright, digital fireworks. Idia, perhaps realizing he had created the perfect balance of his own personal style, finally allowed himself to relax. The display of colorful pixels on the screen reminded everyone that despite the low-key atmosphere, it was a shared experience.
“Five… four… three… two… one… Happy New Year!”
The room was filled with the sound of digital fireworks, and Idia quietly let out a sigh of relief.
“Happy New Year, Yuu… Grim,” he muttered, glancing up from his screen to smile shyly. “Thanks for spending it with me.”
As the digital fireworks faded, the group lingered for a while longer, chatting about their favorite games and laughing at each other’s in-game antics. Idia, still a little socially awkward, seemed at ease, his shoulders relaxed. He had succeeded in making the night memorable—just in his own way.
Yuu leaned back in their chair, content, watching the digital world they had all entered. It may not have been the most traditional New Year’s celebration, but it was still meaningful. A quiet, digital kind of joy surrounded them, the perfect blend of gaming and companionship.
“Best New Year’s party ever,” Grim muttered from the couch, already half-asleep from all the excitement.
Idia’s face flushed slightly at the compliment. “Thanks, Grim…” He paused for a moment before adding, “Next year, I’ll make it even better. Maybe with VR, and… oh, I could probably add a few more mini-games too!”
Yuu chuckled softly, glancing at Idia, who was now enthusiastically brainstorming ideas. They couldn't help but smile, realizing that despite his quirky, introverted nature, Idia had created something truly special.
The night was winding down, but the warmth of the celebration lingered in the air. And as Yuu looked around at their friends in Ignihyde, they couldn’t help but feel that the New Year had arrived in its own, perfectly imperfect way.

The New Year’s celebration at Diasomnia was unlike any other. The ancient, mysterious dorm, draped in deep shades of violet and black, carried an aura of quiet grandeur. The towering stone walls, adorned with arcane symbols, seemed to hum with magic. Outside, the night was clear, the stars above casting a serene glow over the quiet expanse of the forest. The air in the dorm was cool and crisp, tinged with the scent of pine and earth, and the atmosphere was more subdued than the boisterous celebrations at other dorms.
Yuu stepped through the heavy, ornate doors, feeling the weight of the space. The grand hall was lit with soft, flickering candlelight that illuminated the elegant, gothic architecture. The space was almost otherworldly, filled with rich tapestries depicting ancient dragons, fey creatures, and legendary battles.
Grim, perched on Yuu’s shoulder, let out a low whistle. “This place is kinda creepy, huh? But also… kinda cool.”
“Definitely a lot quieter than the others,” Yuu said, scanning the room.
Just as they stepped further into the hall, a figure appeared from the shadows. Malleus Draconia, the dorm leader, stood tall with an air of quiet authority. His deep green eyes glinted in the candlelight, and his dark, regal attire seemed to blend seamlessly with the atmosphere around him. A faint smile tugged at the corners of his lips as he approached.
“Ah, Yuu. Grim,” Malleus greeted in his usual low, commanding voice. “Welcome to our humble celebration. It’s good to see you here.”
Yuu smiled warmly, though they couldn’t help but feel a little out of place in the grand and mysterious surroundings. “Thanks for inviting us. It’s beautiful in here.”
“We may not have the grandiose parties of other dorms, but I believe we can find joy in quieter moments,” Malleus replied, his gaze steady and sincere. “Tonight, we shall celebrate the passing of the old year in our own way.”
The gathering in Diasomnia was intimate, with only a few familiar faces present. The table was set with simple, elegant dishes—dark bread, rich cheeses, and roasted meats, complemented by chilled wines and herbal teas. A small group of students sat nearby, enjoying the subdued conversation, while the room’s serene ambiance allowed them to feel comfortable in each other’s presence.
As the evening wore on, Malleus remained a composed figure in the room, exchanging quiet words with those who spoke to him. Lilia Vanrouge, on the other hand, was far more animated, though his lively energy still carried an eerie sense of mischief. His laughter echoed off the stone walls as he interacted with everyone, occasionally darting between guests like a playful shadow.
“You two finally made it! I thought you’d be lost in the forest on your way here,” Lilia teased, his sharp eyes glinting as he approached Yuu and Grim.
“We got here just fine,” Yuu replied with a chuckle. “The path was a little dark, though.”
“It’s always dark around here,” Grim muttered. “Everything feels like it’s from some creepy fairytale.”
“Ah, but that’s the beauty of it, isn’t it?” Lilia grinned. “The world outside may be bright and loud, but here, we can enjoy the silence and find peace in the quiet.”
As the night deepened, the members of Diasomnia shared quiet stories of the past—tales of dragons, forgotten kings, and ancient magic. Malleus spoke sparingly, but when he did, the others listened intently. His words carried weight, as if his very presence commanded attention.
As midnight approached, the atmosphere shifted subtly. The sounds of soft conversations faded, replaced by a growing sense of anticipation. Malleus stood by the grand fireplace, his silhouette outlined by the flickering flames.
Yuu, who had been admiring the view through the large, arched windows, turned back to find Lilia next to them. “You seem a little… out of place. Not used to the quiet?”
Yuu shrugged, a little embarrassed. “It’s different. But in a good way. It’s nice to slow down for a change.”
Lilia smiled knowingly. “That’s what this night is about, after all—reflection, renewal. The year has passed, and the future lies ahead. It’s important to remember both the calm and the storm, for they shape who we are.”
As the clock neared midnight, the room fell still, everyone gathering in a quiet circle. Malleus raised a glass, his deep voice breaking the silence.
“May this new year bring prosperity to us all, and may the strength of the old ways guide us forward. Let us raise our glasses to the passing year and the promise of the future.”
The clock struck midnight. The room was filled with the soft clink of glasses as they toasted, and outside, a series of ethereal lights began to flicker across the sky. The stars above seemed to shine brighter than before, and the forest around Diasomnia shimmered with a subtle, magical glow.
As the night continued, Yuu found themselves at the edge of the grand hall, looking out through the open doors at the snow-covered trees and the flickering lights in the distance. It was as if the entire world had paused for a moment, offering them a chance to simply exist in the stillness.
Lilia appeared beside them, his voice soft. “It’s rare to see this kind of peace in our lives, isn’t it? We live so fast, chasing after the next thing. But sometimes, you need to pause and just breathe.”
Yuu nodded, the weight of the evening settling around them. “I think I understand now. It’s not about the noise or the big celebrations. It’s about finding the beauty in the quiet moments, too.”
The two stood there in companionable silence, watching the world outside. Malleus eventually joined them, his presence calming and steady. “The year is a cycle, Yuu. A beginning and an end, like the turning of a wheel. Let us cherish both moments, for each is fleeting.”
Yuu smiled, grateful for the quiet wisdom that came from the people of Diasomnia. The New Year had arrived, not with fanfare or fireworks, but with the peaceful embrace of time itself. In the heart of the forest, surrounded by ancient magic, Yuu felt like they had found something far more valuable than mere celebration—they had found a sense of belonging.

🤎Ramshackle🖤
The New Year’s Eve celebration at Ramshackle Dorm was unlike anything Yuu had ever experienced. It wasn’t glamorous or flashy like the parties at the other dorms, nor was it as quiet and mysterious as the one in Diasomnia. Instead, the evening was filled with a peculiar charm—a mixture of ghostly antics, eerie laughter, and an atmosphere that could only be described as “comfortably chaotic.”
Yuu walked through the crooked halls of the dorm, which, despite its disarray, had a certain warmth to it. The cobwebs on the ceilings and the creaking floorboards were familiar now, and the flickering candles and broken chandeliers only added to the odd coziness of the place.
“Looks like the place is ready for something,” Yuu muttered, adjusting the collar of their jacket as they glanced around.
Grim, perched on Yuu’s shoulder, squinted suspiciously at the dim-lit corners. “You sure it’s safe? I’m starting to think those ghosts are up to something.”
“I don’t think they’d hurt us,” Yuu replied with a half-smile. “But let’s keep an eye out just in case.”
Just as Yuu was about to head further into the building, they were greeted by a faint, soft giggle. The sound echoed through the hall, and before they could react, a faint, translucent figure appeared before them.
“Oh! You’re here!” Spade, one of the friendly ghosts, floated up excitedly, his translucent body shimmering in the candlelight. “We were just waiting for you. We’ve got the best plans for tonight!”
Yuu raised an eyebrow but smiled warmly. “Plans? You mean the ghosts have plans for the New Year?”
“Well, not exactly the normal plans,” Spade giggled mischievously. “But it’ll be fun! We’ll have games, some stories, and a little bit of spooky fun to welcome the new year! You’ll see!”
As the evening progressed, Yuu found themselves swept up in the strange and whimsical festivities organized by the ghosts of Ramshackle Dorm. It wasn’t a grand banquet or a glamorous ball, but the night had a distinct charm. The ghosts were quite the hosts, although their way of celebrating was... well, unorthodox.
There were haunting games—one involved bobbing for apples that turned out to be more challenging than expected, as they floated just out of reach, taunting Yuu and Grim. Another game had them trying to solve riddles posed by the resident ghost, Ace, who loved to pop up unexpectedly and demand an answer to some eerie puzzle. His voice echoed and changed pitch as it bounced off the walls, giving an unsettling effect to his otherwise playful tone.
“We have to figure out who is the quickest at finding the haunted objects hidden around the dorm,” Ace said, floating upside-down in front of them, his ghostly form twisting and turning in the air. “First one to find the cursed mirror wins!”
Grim jumped to his feet, eyes wide. “A cursed mirror? That sounds like a trap!”
Yuu couldn’t help but laugh. “It’s probably just an old mirror. Let’s just go with it.”
As the night wore on, the ghostly games got stranger and stranger, but they never lost their appeal. There was dancing, though it wasn’t quite what you’d expect. The ghosts floated around, creating ethereal patterns in the air, while Yuu and Grim attempted a few wobbly steps, trying to mimic the movements.
Laughter echoed through the halls, and for the first time in what felt like forever, Yuu felt genuinely at ease in the odd, haunting dorm. Even the creaky floors seemed to welcome them, rather than be a nuisance.
The final moments of the year approached, and the ghosts seemed to grow more animated. Grim, who had been getting more into the spirit of things (and more than a little excited about the ghost-themed treats), was bouncing around, yelling out to anyone who would listen.
“Midnight’s coming! Midnight’s coming! What happens when it strikes?” Grim demanded, looking between the others as if expecting them to know.
“Relax, Grim. It’s not like there’s a curse tied to it,” Yuu said, though they were just a little nervous themselves.
The main gathering area was bathed in soft, flickering candlelight as everyone prepared for the midnight countdown. The ghosts, all gathered in a circle, held their hands—translucent or otherwise—together.
“Ten... nine...”
As the countdown continued, the atmosphere shifted. Despite the mischief and lighthearted pranks, there was a palpable sense of anticipation. The ghosts were just as excited as anyone else for the new year. Their giggles faded into soft murmurs, their eyes glowing with a mix of excitement and something deeper—a hope that the year to come would be one filled with new memories.
“Three... two... one... Happy New Year!”
At the stroke of midnight, an eerie but warm mist filled the room. The lights from the candles flickered brightly, casting a soft glow around everyone. A strange, magical sound, like a chorus of voices whispering in the wind, filled the space. The ghosts cheered, floating in circles, as fireworks without the usual noise erupted outside, casting a soft, glittering light through the windows.
Grim, looking up at the fireworks, beamed. “Now this is what I’m talking about!”
Yuu smiled, feeling a surge of warmth. It wasn’t the most conventional New Year’s celebration, but it was filled with something even more precious: the laughter and joy of friends, old and new. The ghosts of Ramshackle, in all their otherworldly eccentricities, had made sure the night was one Yuu would never forget.
As the final sparkles of the magical fireworks faded, the ghosts of Ramshackle Dorm returned to their usual ethereal, almost sleepy selves. The night was winding down, but the echoes of the evening’s fun lingered in the air.
Spade floated up to Yuu and Grim, a grin wide on his face. “Did you enjoy our celebration? It may not have been as flashy as the others, but we sure know how to throw a spooky, fun party!”
“It was… definitely something else,” Yuu said, glancing at Grim, who was still nibbling on ghostly sweets that had appeared out of nowhere.
“You can say that again!” Grim added with a grin, wiping his mouth. “Best food and the spookiest fireworks!”
Laughter filled the room once more, and as the clock ticked away the final moments of the night, Yuu realized that the ghosts had given them a gift that couldn’t be replicated—memories forged in an unforgettable, hauntingly joyful New Year’s celebration. In the end, they didn’t need all the glitz and glamour. The eerie charm of Ramshackle Dorm was all they needed to welcome the new year with a heart full of warmth and laughter.

Prompt: "Will You Marry Me?" - Proposal Headcannons Characters: Everyone :) Part(s): Heartslabyul, Savanaclaw, Octavinelle, Scarabia, Pomefiore, Ignihyde, Diasomnia( pt.1 Here!)(pt.2) Fandom: Twisted Wonderland Warning(s): None. I mean, unless you don't want to marry any of them. Just don't read if that's the case. Note: These are all if he is the one proposing btw. Also, I went overboard. So much that I exceeded the character limit and need to post Diasomnia in 2 parts. I have favorites I guess :/
Malleus experienced more firsts over the course of three years than the duration of his life. His first board game session, his first group trip with peers, his first taste of carnival food, his first sleepover, his first true friend - so, so many firsts. All a byproduct of one person walking into his life and taking a genuine interest in him.
You were the first houseguest he personally invited over to Diasomnia. Not for a tour, not for business, not on behalf of another - no. You were Malleus' houseguest, there to visit Malleus and spend time with Malleus. The snacks prepared were for you both to share. The lounge seating reserved for your company. His first time hosting for fun.
You were the first person he ever got a present for outside of his family. How quick your birthday had come, and how startled he became to find he cared. You were older. Growing so quick and changing at an alarming pace. He could see it in your features and mannerisms. Malleus knew that humans aged at a much faster rate than fae. Silver sprouted like a beanstalk. Yet you were blossoming like a flower in spring. How long until you'd wither?
Malleus cared. Not out of curiosity, but something deeper. Malleus did not want a servant to pick your gift, not even his closest companions. He desired to adhere to human custom and do the task himself. He did not trust another to pick something meaningful and to your preference.
You were the first to make him laugh. Your humor being like none he had heard before. Others tend to correct themselves in Malleus' presence, or try to cater to 'his' taste. Even those closest to him, often sharing a joke that flies over his head without any explanation. You did no such thing. Your humor was curious, and perhaps a bit crude. The jokes did fail to land with him, but he still found them funny regardless.
You were the first to make him yearn. Malleus had felt loneliness before. He's been bound in it's searing clutches and taunted. Yet his rooted longing never compelled him to change. He never felt jealous. Until your smile became another's and he felt a hot pit in his stomach. One different than his fiery magic.
You were his first desire.
Malleus fumbled and panicked. He had finally found a friend, yet he wanted more. The realization striking him deep. The first want he had no guarantee of obtaining. Yet his need for you was strong. He could not lose you. Malleus begun to value your presence. Your joy. The new life you breathed into him. He held it as dear as his family. You became his fondest treasure.
Malleus needed to ensure that you would never be taken from him. That you would never change.
You were also his first failure. On the dawn of your second year and his graduation, Malleus proposed. He had forgone all customs and jumped straight to marriage. Love to the fae was a lifetime bond. No power could chain you to him stronger than matrimony. Which is why he demanded your presence in the gardens after the ending ceremony. He decorated according to your tastes, with colorful lanterns and firefly lights strewn across the plants.
He saw the hope in your eyes. The way they sparkled with affection and pride bloomed knowing that he was the cause.
“Malleus….It’s so beautiful. Did you prepare this just for me?” You ask, clutching your hands to your chest. He smiles, reaching into his breast pocket and pulling out a black velvet box in the shape of a rose.
“I’m happy to see you like it; however, I hope this offering pleases you more”
Malleus opens the box to reveal a ring. Your eyes widen owlishly and he interprets it as a good sign. Until you step back.
“Oh Malleus….I can’t accept this. We aren’t even dating!” You deny his unspoken proposal with a shaken tone Malleus’ is unfamiliar with. Not from you.
“Why not? I love you. Is that not enough? Do you not love me?”
He fails to understand why you declined. He spent countless hours studying human customs and expression. No. Studying you. He was confident you returned his affections. So why? Why not leave this place and join him?
You explain to him that you’re incapable of marrying someone you haven’t spent time with romantically. That you do care about him. That you liked him and did feel for him. That you could love him, but not so suddenly. You have friends at NRC and didn’t want to leave. Not to mention how him marrying a human, especially with no warning, would cause so many political problems.
Of course he had already taken all this into consideration. He didn’t care about all that, yet bit his tongue from speaking his mind. Another first for Malleus.
“What if I abide by your terms? Would you allow me to court you properly?” He cuts into your sea of reasons not to be together. They weren’t his concern. Only you.
This gets you. He clearly wasn’t listening. Love blinded the average person, and Malleus’ heart bled. You consider his offer, and agree to his courtship. It would be difficult to maintain considering your distance and his status. Yet they were fickle matters to Malleus.
You were his first failure, yet he didn’t mind. There was no true victory without a bit of labor.
The change that he so feared, it became something Malleus adored. Every time he would whisk you away from NRC, or return for a visit - you were different. You had a new story to share, or had changed your appearance. At first he began to panic once again at how quickly you seemed to evolve without him.
And one day he realized that you would keep changing. He’d see a new you forever. All these new versions. A constant spark and longing that made him realize how precious each one was. They would come whether he bid them to or not - so he had to cherish them. Every version of you was one he loved and lost. Yet the fact that another would emerge kept his heart complacent.
You were his first kiss on a dewy fall morning. You were his first heartfelt dance, dressed in shimmery black satin and pearls that he gifted. You were his first goodnight kiss, and first morning embrace. You were his first comfort after tragedy struck and his first sympathetic heartache. You were everything.
It was no longer about chaining you. He loved his firsts. He would forever remember them.
His first goodbye.
On the cusp of your 3rd year coming to a close, Malleus prepared the ring from two years prior. He would gift it to you after your graduation. It would be yours whether you accepted the meaning behind it or not - the ring could go to no one else.
An announcement arrives to him the week prior via pen and paper. Hand written by you and oh how he so loved your letters. Malleus opened it with calm delight, yet as his eyes traveled across the words he forgot how to control his strength. The paper alit in flames.
‘The Headmaster found a way to send me home. Would you come for a visit?’
The letter was not so blunt, but that’s all he could comprehend. Malleus was not ready to say goodbye. He once thought his greatest fear was to watch his flower wilt, yet now it must be cut to make a bouquet.
As much as it tore him apart, Malleus had to let you go. He couldn’t root you to soil forever. His hands unconsciously drift to the velvet rose box tucked safely in his breast pocket.
It’s only natural you’d be the source of some of Malleus’ lasts. He would never love another.
He joins you days before your ceremony. You explain to him the procedure to return, and he bites his tongue once again. He encourages you, and is happy that you’re happy. The ring burns a hole where his heart lies yet he continues on with grace, ignoring the cautious behavior of your peers whenever he’s around. The only opinion he cared for was yours, and he’d stay as long as you needed.
Malleus missed the way your heart sought his. The way you gave him chance after chance to ask you to stay. How you clung to him despite the roles normally being reversed.
“I guess this is goodbye. I’ll miss you,” you whisper, holding Malleus’ hand and glancing at the glowing portal behind him. Malleus smiles, his eyes softening as he leans forward to kiss your forehead.
“I will never forget your heart,” he murmurs against your skin, and reaches into his breast pocket with fluid movements. Malleus places the velvet rose box in your hands, cradling them gently with both of his.
“This is yours. I had it made for your finger alone, and only you will be the one to wear it. My heart belongs to you. Let this be my final selfish wish, but I hope you will think of me when you look upon it”
Malleus doesn’t understand why you break down. The way you clutch the box to your chest and look at him with such pain. He thought you wanted to go home. Is it not what you waited so long for?
He cannot be strong when you’re crying. How can you be so cruel. He won’t be able to -
“I want to be with you. I love you,” you whisper yet he hears it perfectly clear.
Malleus’ heart stutters and he clutches your shoulders. With one hand he tilts your chin up to look at him. Your eyes splotched with red irritation and glassy with sorrow. He wipes at their edges with his thumbs, cupping your cheeks ans looking at you for any sign of doubt. Any insincerity or fear. Your expression from years prior still lives rent free in his mind…he would not risk your happiness for his selfishness.
He finds nothing and pulls you in his arms. For the first time, Malleus sheds tears born from love. From relief. He wraps his arms protectively around you, and tucks his chin over your head.
“If you love something, let it be free. If it was meant to be yours then it will come back willingly. This is a saying of humans, is it not? I could not have you at the cost of your happiness. You do not deserve such a tainted love…but if this is truly what you desire, then I will not cease my efforts. You are mine, and I will eternally be yours,”
{Malleus’ ring is hand crafted by the royal blacksmith. Some would assume that there is a ring passed down through generations of the Draconia bloodline. There is not. The fae do not follow such traditions, yet Malleus would not instill all his values onto you. If it is a ring you need, then it is a ring he will get. He decides to reforge a gem plucked from his mother’s staff. The ring is made especially for you, with a teardrop-cut of magic-infused emerald as the focus point. It’s enchanted to reject any hand other than your own, and morphs to the size of your finger. It is subtle, made of pure gold, and a symbol of union between fae and mankind.}
"One should never make a vow of eternal love lightly. Take it from someone with ample life experience"
Lilia often imposes advice without any prompting. The musings of an old man normally went in and out of people's ears anyways. Sometimes it takes experience to learn, and no matter how we try to warn our children - fate is fate. They will go through the motions just as the people before them. Especially when it comes to trials of the heart such as love and loss.
Lilia knows both intimately. They've forged the man he is.
Philia: Love of friendship and equals. His peers, his comrades in arms, his fellow fae. The friends he has lost through death and distance. Those he fought to protect.
Storge: Parental love. To raise the son of his closest friends, and the blood of his sworn enemy. Lilia has fought through loss to feel the gratification of fatherhood. Lilia loves his children.
Agape: Love of man. This one took work. It took losing all he had, and then losing more. Hundreds of years of healing and trying to be better. Even in his final stretch Lilia is still learning this love.
Eros: Passionate, unconditional love. Lilia has felt this once, and only once. The wound still fresh with a dribble of salt steadily halting the healing process. To feel eros is a beautiful thing, but to have it ripped away is enough to kill.
Lilia experienced his fair share, and now enjoys watching those in the prime of life seek out love. He doesn't engage in romantic gossip, but enjoys watching others live their lives. One of his biggest curiosities being you, oddly enough.
This is because you've shown no interest in feeling love of any kind. Being the nosy man he is, Lilia finds your dismissal of others a bit concerning. He's not the most open person himself, yet you're a young human. This is when you should be wild! Surely you must feel something, considering all the 'escapades' you've been on with other students. The best way to bond is over shared trauma - he's not endorsing it. Just stating a fact.
"It's nothing personal. I'd rather not get too attached considering my living circumstances, if you catch my drift" you say in response to his prying.
He indeed 'catches the drift' and sees a bit of himself reflected in you. You were not unkind, yet also not overzealous. You did not push others away, yet also made an effort to protect yourself. For all the kind deeds you've done, Lilia knew better than to think it a case of bleeding heart syndrome. You remind him of how he was when deciding to raise Silver - afraid and very good at hiding it for the sake of others.
He decides to step in against his better judgement. If anything to repay the kindness you've done Malleus and his two youngsters. He couldn't watch you waste the precious life you’ve been given huddled away in isolation. Lilia would become your confident, as he is the most equipped to endure inevitably bidding farewell. If anything he will encourage you to forge stronger bonds of your own accord without fear.
He does an outstanding job at being the extrovert adopting an introvert. His favorite hobby being to startle you - popping out from random places like trees, bushes, the ceiling, your closet, etc. So much that you grow accustomed to his antics and expect them. Going so far as to always carry hard candies in your coat pocket as a peace offering.
He invites you to play online video games, go shopping, and sometimes pops by your dorm with Malleus. However his visits soon become solo, sensing that his adopted son didn't enjoy his 'nightly stroll' with his best friend being invaded. Lilia didn't mind - it meant that he'd get your company all to himself! There was nothing like watching a few horror flicks and tormenting Grimm after them. You even had a guest room in case he felt too ‘lazy’ to fly home.
On your birthday, he bakes a cake and leaves it on your kitchen windowsill. You found it, and even thanked him 'happily' later that day. He never said he was the chef though....you must have quite a keen sense of taste! That or he must be so talented that you know his cooking by heart!
Lilia felt a sense of relief, seeing your mannerisms shift from neutral to happy as time passed. It was hard work ebbing away at those walls of yours. It's not good for humans to be stressed. It lessens their already short lifespan.
He really should step aside. Let you befriend more humans and people that will support your journey. Except he doesn't want to. Philia's taken root in his heart - you're now a friend. An actual one.
So...he doesn't let go.
You join the college's boardgame club, and Lilia feels honored that he's the first you ask to play with. Each time you sought his company made him feel young again. Thrills did tend to follow your wake after all.
You often spent many evenings teaching Malleus, Silver, and even Sebek about your world. Not something Lilia planned for, but seeing you open up about it put his mind at ease. The different cultures, history, trends - Lilia listens in happily as well. Going so far as to learn some of your favorite recipes. He wants to cook them right away, but agrees to wait for your company. You grew nervous when he brought the topic up, possibly because you didn't want to be left out? Surely, that must be why.
Soon comes another January 1st - Signifying a new year and also Lilia’s birthday. The night prior he was out on the prowl, flying free throughout campus, watching people party and celebrate. Normally he’d spend this evening having fun of his own, but being caged at a school left him little chances to be free. Jumping across rooftops and sneaking around doing parkour was a trip down memory lane. The fireworks and lively people made for an excellent atmosphere.
By chance he happened on your rooftop, and decided to pop in for a quick respite. Slipping in through an open window was child’s play, as was avoiding your paranormal houseguests and popping in and out of rooms.
His keen hearing picks up your voice coming from the main bedroom - and normally he wouldn’t invade a personal space but the door was open. So obviously it was an invitation. He sticks to the ceiling and crawls to a shrouded corner with a mischievous grin.
How unsuspecting you were - dressed up in fancy clothes and muttering to yourself while in front of a floor length mirror. Lilia thinks you’re going to a party and is prepping to tag along -
“Alright. I can do this,” you mutter and turn around to pace the floor. A neatly wrapped present is clutched tight in your hands - wrapped in ivory paper with a sparkly pink ribbon. Lilia freezes just when he’s about to jump down, and clings back to the wall. “Just give it to him. Give it and tell him how you feel,” you turn towards the mirror, holding the box out, “Hello there Lilia. Yes, this is a birthday present. Yes, you’re a year older, how exciting! By the way I really like you so would you want to go on a date?” You fall silent, cringing in disgust at your reflection before sitting on the bed, “Ah. That was such dogshit”
Lilia exits as swift as he entered. The night air whips against his skin as he transforms into a bat and is already on the way back home. The implications of what he just witnessed weighing heavily on his mind.
This would not be the first time someone has caught feelings for him. You don't go 700 years without any suitors - he'd always turn them down with careful consideration.
Except he doesn't want to this time. That's the major issue.
The flight home was long, with purposeful detours until he felt tired enough to retire. A familiar bitter ache stung his heart. He'd only felt this disappointment once prior, and swore off letting it bud again.
Eros.
Lilia was in love too. He recognized the passion growing long before this moment, and against his better judgement let it fester.
"Seems I'm not as equipped to handle this as I once believed" he says to no-one and moves to play some online games instead of sleeping.
Lilia once felt a love he couldn’t express through anything other than fealty and devotion. It was a darker time where there was no promise of future. He swore not to endure that pain again - yet this is similar yet also different. The love is blooming effortlessly. His devotion is growing. The desire is there and so is the fear. All the same feelings yet without the dire weight of external forces adding pressure. This time it’s his choice to follow through. There’s no bigger force at play stopping him. Not even your mortality, considering how his lifespan is almost at its close.
Yet for all his years of wisdom, the thought of putting his heart out was still as frightening as the first.
In truth, Lilia had ulterior reasons for pursuing your companionship other than worry or repaying a debt. Your behaviors did remind him of his past self. That was no lie. He simply felt affection blooming upon your first meeting and thought having your friendship would morph it into something more tame. He had a habit of drawing in lost souls - what was one more?
Now the affection is stronger, and you return it.
Heavens, was he being given another chance? After all these years.
You return it. It's requited. He needn't hide it for the sake of someone else's happiness. Lilia could be selfish, if only he let himself.
The next day, Lilia finds an ivory box with a sparkly pink ribbon outside his door. A neatly written letter is attached, with the words 'Happy Birthday' written on the front. His name is written on the tag in black ink, with your name signed as the sender.
Lilia picks it up and undoes the wrapping with nimble movements. Inside is an assortment of treats that he wanted to try from your home, and a neatly folded letter atop them. It details exactly what was expected, a perfect explanation of your feelings that's entirely different than the nervous display he intruded upon.
He looks around the hallway, checking to see if you’re nearby before disappearing without a trace. Nothing but an open door showing that he left.
Everything after is a blur. While doing the dishes back at your dorm and trying not to think of the present - Lilia appears out of nowhere, startling you for what was probably the first time in months. His typical cheeky grin and snicker were nowhere in sight.
He says one thing, “Are you certain?”. The words held a heavy meaning for the both of you.
Asking if he’s willing to go for one last chance. To take one final risk or simply be satisfied with all he’s accomplished thus far. It asks if you’re willing to do the same - to risk everything you’ve built in one fell swoop.
You nod, and Lilia smiles. Not an impish smirk or a snarky grin. A true, soft smile that is full of released tension. He happily hugs you from behind as you finish working in silence, gradually slipping back to his playful ways yet not entirely. He would remain the out of touch peepaw that you so loved to tease him as, but a bit of his youthful spirit was being revived. His inner self being healed, perhaps.
He loves you, and the world hasn’t split in two. It was his time.
Finally.
From then on he had no reservations in loving you. This was a new form of eros. A new passion filled with joy and living for the moment - versus the weight of time holding him back like it did when he was younger. Nothing changed in your dynamic other than he now had the strength to let himself love freely.
Which is exactly why he wastes no more time. Just as he told you off hand long ago, one should not make a vow of eternal love lightly. He’d take his own advice and seek his own happiness for the first time in hundreds of years.
On a random night with no inkling of warning, Lilia drags you out of bed to the Ramshackle rooftop in nothing but your nightclothes. It wasn’t the first time he’d ask for a midnight escapade - just for the thrill and surprise, most of the time. He loved to keep things exciting.
Except he was being far too gentle. Far too nostalgic. He sits you down on the edge of the roof and puts his cardigan over your shoulders. Not a word passes between you as he tucks it snug around your shoulders - his hand tracing the line of your cheekbones, down your arms and to your hands. He cradles them gently, never taking his eyes from yours.
Then something foreign glimmers against your finger. In an effortless motion, he slipped the ring on without pause. You can’t help but stare at the gem in thought, looking between it and Lilia’s thoughtful expression over and over.
Lilia nods, taking your hand in his and running his thumb over the ring - admiring it against your skin.
“I’ve lived many years. Lead many lives. I thought I had accepted my nearing end, yet I find myself wanting more. I want to grey with grace at your side. To enjoy mundane evenings - greet you come morning and kiss you to seal a day’s end. I want my last life to be at your side, if only you will have me”
{A blood red garnet placed inside a blossom frame. Lilia’s ring is made of silver, and gives the illusion of a red rose in a bed of vines. Red is the color of passion, devotion, and unconditional love. Red roses hold this very meaning in the language of flowers. Lilia has felt this before - but you are his fated. You have chosen him simply for the person he is - not who he needs to be. He can finally be free and at peace. Your love is something he can selfishly hoard and it gives him the desire to enjoy life. He feels full. Happy. He hopes that this ring shows that he wants to live for the moment by your side, eternally}

Rook Hunt: In Plain Sight
THE NEIGE MERCH HAIR CLIPS… and his makeup box being similar to the box the queen provided to hold Snow White’s heart…
Rise and Shine!
"I burn and turn red easily. Of course, I'm in the habit of using sun protection and shading my skin from harmful UV rays now, but my skin still bears marks of damage."
“Damage?” you had squinted at him, searching for those imperfections he had spoken of. “Strange. I don’t see anything like that.”
And then he had given that mysterious smile, a finger to his wistful lips. "Ah, because I hide it well. Shall I show you my secret? Attendez, s'il vous plaît."
His “secret”, as Rook had put it, was not magic.
You knelt down, peering into his circular mirror lines with lights. Rook, flaxen hair pinned back with various clips—bows and a bluebird-shaped one—met your gaze in his reflection. His forest green eyes creased slightly, a sign you had come to learn meant he was amused.
Graceful hands unlocked a wooden box. The lid flipped open, revealing various tubes hidden inside. Mascara, lip gloss, eye liners… A treasure trove of makeup.
He selected a container filled with a fair creamy substance. Twisting the tube open, it revealed a slim applicator with a fluffy end.
“This comes highly recommended by Vil,” Rook chirped. “It’s a long-lasting, sweat-proof, and crease-free concealer. The formula is hydrating enough to stand up to the elements, but strong enough to not melt off during the day. Ideal for the life of a busy huntsman!”
He continued to babble as he dotted the concealer across his cheeks and nose. The spray of freckles there slowly disappeared behind a layer of skin-like color. You followed the flick of his wrist, watching how artfully he buffed out the product upon the blank page called him.
“This type of applicator is known as a doe foot. It is named for the small, slightly slanted foot of a female deer, also known as a doe. When I was first introduced to cosmetics, I thought that all applicators were named after animal anatomy! It would have certainly helped me in memorizing them."
“It sounds like he really drilled this information into your head,” you murmured, brows raised. “It shows in how you look too. You’re so different from how you were back then. More…”
You conjured the image of Rook in his Savanaclaw days. His hair was longer then, scraped back into a bushy ponytail resembling the hide of a ratty beast. Sometimes twigs and leaves would snag in it. Rook’s school-issued dormitory pants were torn at the knees, and he was always nursing some kind of bruise or dirt stain. Without sleeves, his large arms were on full display, the muscles straining and shifting when he tugged on a bowstring.
Compared to now…
You scanned Rook’s floaty white pajamas. A long-sleeved night gown over trousers, plus a cap he had removed earlier.
Covered up was the first thing that came to your mind. You settled for something else.
“… Demure, mindful.”
Those, you knew, were the last words anyone—particularly fae, beastmen, and merfolk—would bestow upon Rook Hunt. He knew it too, if the twinkle in his eyes was of any indication.
Rook slotted the wand back into its bottle and turned to you, wiggling a hand to present bis finished face. “Voilà! The results of Pomefiore’s teachings.”
You looked at him.
Hesitated.
“… Can I?”
“You may,” he said with a faint chuckle, his lids drifting shut.
You gingerly cupped his cheeks in your palms, careful not to smudge his makeup as you slowly tiled his head back. It was like you were handling porcelain, too afraid of dropping it. His Adam’s apple bobbed—up, down—like your heart’s rapid thumping. Your thumb brushed aside a golden lock.
Skin as smooth as silk, an even shade throughout. Fine hair like fresh wheat spun into gold. And mouth a pale pink, like the blush of an apple blossom.
No hat to hide it all.
Like this, he was almost like a princess trapped under a glass coffin.
The truth of him, in plain sight. A raw, gentle beauty he allowed few others to glimpse.
Breath caught in your chest.
“… Sorry. I’m afraid I still don’t see those ‘marks of damage’ you were talking about before,” you apologized. “With freckles or without… Frizzy hair or not… Covered or out in the open… Rook-senpai is still beautiful in every way.”
He cracked an eye open a sliver. “… Oh la la, aren’t we feeling feisty this morning?”
“Yes. I’m the Magic Mirror,” you teased, laughing as you released him from your grasp. “I only speak the truth.”
“So you do.”
Rook loaded his doe foot again. But this time, he cheekily dabbed the wand on the tip of your nose, leaving a light blob behind.
“H-Hey…!” you protested, hands flying there to wipe the spot clean. “Rook…!”
“Fufufu. Those candid, unguarded expressions of yours are delightful.”
He dropped the concealer back into its box. Humming, his hand hovered over an eye pencil. Rook held it up, angling it slanted against your body from a distance—an artist ogling his next masterpiece.
“I would love to capture you upon a canvas,” he mused, tracing the outline of you in the air. “Like the polished face of a looking glass… you speak with both sincerity and clarity. That kind of honesty is a rarity.”
“Y-You should focus on finishing your makeup first, or else you’ll be in for a scolding from your dorm leader,” you advised, though your voice was but a mumble. “Geez… you’re always dumping so much praise onto me.”
“Beauty of all kinds should be seen and shared. It just so happens that you have a bounty of it—and so, there is much of you for me to acknowledge.”
“And there’s still so much of you I have to figure out…” you added with a sigh. Somewhat resigned, but also half longing.
“Oh my. Then it sounds as though we have a long partnership ahead of ourselves~”
Grinning like a vulpine, the huntsman began to draw with his liner, forming sharp points at the edges of his eyes. You observed quietly, a birdwatcher to a hawk.
One day, I’ll unlock all of your secrets. Like this chest you keep your makeup in, or those sleeves you cover your limbs with. I’ll expose your ‘truth’… Rook Hunt!

Go For It, Jamil!
Summary: Scarabia hears their Vice-House Warden has a crush and are a little too enthusiastic to help out.
AN: I really like the idea that the dorm mob loves their wardens and vice wardens. It makes me think of the tsum event where all of Savanaclaw was in tears because they thought Leona got turned into a little burrito plush, lol.
I got Omar and Babkak from the Aladdin Broadway musical. There's also a Kassim there but I thought it sounded too close to Kalim so just kept it to the two of them.
Warnings: Pining. Apparently I'm really into that. AFAB reader with she/her pronouns.
Spring had come to Night Raven College. With the blossoming trees, chirping birds, and returning sunshine, one thing everyone could count on was Kalim’s annual Welcome Spring party. Of course, he also had a Welcome Autumn, Welcome Winter, Welcome Summer, Farewell End-of-School-Year, Beginning of School, Halloween, New Year's Eve and Day, basically anything party. The difference here was that there were generally more flowers.
“And we can have the cherry blossom trees around the entrance of the courtyard!” Kalim was saying. Jamil dutifully followed behind him by a few steps, taking down notes for the numerous things they would need to order. “That way when the wind blows the petals will swirl everywhere and it will be super pretty!”
“MmHmm,” Jamil muttered, only halfway paying attention.
“And I was thinking the food should be fruit-themed. Blueberries, strawberries, plums, apricots, rhubarb - is rhubarb a fruit? It’s sweet but it’s like celery, right? Cause it grows in the ground in a stalk?”
“It’s a vegetable.”
“Oh, and pastels! I can get bolts of silk and we can have them hanging from the ceiling in panels and string beads between everything.”
“Sure.”
“And it’ll be the perfect backdrop when you confess to (Y/N)!”
Jamil nearly tripped over his own feet. Both of them froze at the sound of a shattering pot. Looking up, Jamil felt dread build in his stomach as a wide-eyed first-year stared at the two of them, obviously having overheard Kalim’s (obviously totally ridiculous) announcement. There was a broken flower pot at his feet.
“I-Uh-” The first-year stuttered. “Sorry, I’ll get a broom.” He dashed off like his feet were on fire.
Jamil sighed. The last thing he needed right now were rumors swirling around. “Kalim, what are you talking about?”
Kalim blinked at the retreating student before looking back at Jamil with a beaming smile. “(Y/N)! It’ll all be super romantic, right? And spring’s a time for new beginnings. We’ll have a string quartet and I’ll set up a gazebo with hanging lanterns and you can take her hands and look her in the eyes and say-”
“Okay, okay, okay!” Jamil quickly said, clapping a hand over Kalim’s mouth before another eavesdropper got the wrong idea. “You have way to clear an image of all this.”
“Of course! I think it’ll make a great story for your wedding!”
Jamil heard a gasp. He turned just in time to see the first-year from before ducking behind the corner with another in tow.
Yup. There was the headache coming.
“Kalim,” Jamil said, measuring his words as steadily as he could. “I’m not going to confess anything to (Y/N).”
Kalim pouted. “Aww, why not?”
“Because I don’t have feelings for her.”
“What? Of course you do!”
“I promise I don’t.”
“Don’t worry, she’ll definitely say yes.”
“That’s not the problem here.” Jamil sighed. “Look, I get that you have good intentions, but you don’t need to go overboard and be involved in everything. We talked about this, remember? The whole thing about boundaries?” Actually, (Y/N) had mediated that conversation a few days after Jamil’s Overblot. Is that why Kalim had become convinced they had some sort of romantic attraction? Because talking about feelings must lead to the extreme of those feelings?
Kalim looked chastened, a certain wet puppy dog look that would make most people fold instantly. Jamil was not most people. “Right, I remember. I just…” Jamil waited for Kalim to continue, silently hoping he would just drop it. “I want you to be happy, you know? And I think you’d be really happy with (Y/N)!”
Jamil looked at Kalim sideways. “It’s more of a two way street, you know.”
“Well, yeah, but (Y/N) likes you too!”
Jamil tripped over his own feet again. He felt a strange kind of dread at the way his heart skipped a beat as a warm feeling flooded his chest.
“She-what-Where did you hear that?”
Kalim shrugged, smiling coyly. “I can tell. Just like how I can tell you like her.”
“I don’t,” Jamil said firmly.
Kalim held up his hands in surrender. “I hear you! Boundaries! I won’t mention it again.” He added under his breath, “Even if I think you two would be really cute together.”
“I heard that.”
*
Behind them, hidden in the long shadows of the Scarabia hallways, a cluster of students were beginning to plot.
*
The next day, Jamil was taking some time to relax between classes. Well, as much as he could relax. Mostly his thoughts were occupied jumping between organizing for the Welcome Spring party, creating a mental schedule of what school projects were do when, planning what he would make Kalim for lunch for the next week-
“Jamil!”
He turned to see (Y/N) waving at him. He felt his heart start thumping rapidly in his chest. Stop it, He thought. I can’t let Kalim get in my head like that.
“Hi,” She said, coming up to him.
“Did you need something?”
“Not really. Just saw you over here stuck in your own head again.” She elbowed him playfully. Jamil felt himself smile without realizing it and quickly schooled his features to a more serious expression. “Want to take a break? I snagged these cookies from Sam’s. Tomorrow’s the expiration date so I got them on sale.”
Jamil wrinkled his nose. “Is it worth it?”
(Y/N) shrugged, taking a bite of a cookie. “It’s in the budget. You know, whenever Crowley actually decides to pay me.”
“You know, if you’re ever short on food you can always come to Scarabia. If Kalim’s not throwing another party with a buffet I can get you something. I always make extras for Kalim, anyway.” This was not entirely true. Jamil had had practically his entire life to get used to cooking for Kalim, and it was only recently that he had started making larger batches, packaging them up to deliver to a certain magicless prefect who’s nutritional health he definitely didn’t worry about.
(Y/N) smiled and offered him the cookie bag. “You look after everyone all the time, don’t you?”
Jamil smiled back and took a cookie. They sat in an alcove in the hallway, chatting about nothing of significance. Jamil told a story about how Floyd had insisted Jamil teach him how to spin on his head during basketball practice and (Y/N) told him stories of her recent trip to Harveston, Epel’s hometown, and the sled race against the surprise Royal Sword Academy students.
Jamil saw movement out of the corner of his eye, but whatever it was disappeared before he could catch it. “Sorry, what did you say?”
“Oh, about the stuffed animals. Sebeck won’t admit it, but I think he still has his squirrel plush in his room. I don’t think it’s magic anymore but it is really cute.”
Jamil heard the drag of a bow on strings and looked around.
(Y/N) frowned. “Are you okay? You seem distracted.”
Jamil shook his head. “No, sorry, I’m fine. I thought I heard-”
Music started to pour around them. Although it was the calming, one might almost say romantic, type, they both still jumped at the sudden noise. Jamil jumped up, looking around, and took a hit of sunflower petals directly to his face.
“Omar!” Someone hissed. “Be careful!”
“Sorry, Babkak,” A voice squeaked back.
Wait, Jamil knew those voices. He whipped around the corner, seeing a group of Scarabia first-years. Several formed a string quartet, softly playing music. The other two had a bucket of flower petals, one of them throwing handfuls in the air while the other directed a zephyr spell to blow them across the hallway. The two froze with wide eyes at the sight of their Vice-House Warden.
“What,” Jamil said, voice steely and arms crossed. “Are you doing?”
The string players looked nervously at each other but continued to play. Omar gapped like a codfish. Babkak stood up straight with a confident smile. “We’re setting the mood!”
“What mood?” “For your confession!”
Oh. Oh, no. Now Jamil realized how he recognized them. Babkak was the one who dropped the flower pot yesterday and Omar was the one he had dragged with him to eavesdrop. They must have heard what Kalim had said yesterday about him and (Y/N) and taken the wrong idea. And, Jamil justified to himself, it was definitely the wrong idea.
“Jamil?”
Jamil turned so fast the first-years were momentarily worried about whiplash. (Y/N) stood at the corner, looking curiously at the impromptu band and flowers. Behind him, Jamil could hear them hastily whispering to each other to keep playing and trying to get the effect of floating flower petals just right.
“Something going on?” She asked.
“No!” Jamil said, perhaps a little too quickly. “They were just leaving.” He glared at the first-years. “After they clean this up.”
(Y/N) took a step forward. Jamil felt his mouth go dry as she reached up and plucked a few stray yellow petals from his hair. “Is this for a botany project or something? Kind of romantic, huh?”
Jamil felt his face burn with embarrassment.
“No!” Jamil said, at the same time Babkak said, “Yes!”
“Okay,” (Y/N) said, rolling closed the half-full bag of cookies. “Well, I should probably get going. I need to see what kind of trouble Grim has gotten into while I was gone. I’ll see you later, Jamil.” She waved to him and then the first-years.
“What made you think this was a good idea?” Jamil asked, trying very hard not to yell, when (Y/N) was out of earshot.
“Sorry, sir,” Omar said, dejectedly picking up flower petals. He glared up at Babkak. “I told you we should have gone for the romantic dinner. And rose petals, not sunflowers.”
Babkak waved his friend off. “Don’t be so cliche. Besides, sunflowers are way better! They’re pretty and you can eat the seeds!”
“Hey!” Jamil snapped. The two boys looked back up at him while the other first-years were trying to discreetly pack up their instruments. “I asked what you were doing? Did Kalim put you up to this?”
“No, sir, this was all us!” Babkak said, a little too proudly. “We wanted to help.” “Yeah,” Omar said. “We’re all rooting for you, Vice-House Warden, sir!” The other first-years made noises of agrement.
“Rooting for me?”
“With (Y/N), to tell her you love her!”
Jamil groaned, covering his eyes with his hand and rubbing his temples. “I am not in love with the Prefect.” Jamil missed the skeptical look the two gave each other. “Look, I appreciate the…vote of confidence, but I’m not going to confess anything to anyone any time soon. So whatever else you have planned, or whoever else you told this rumor to, you can give it a break. Understand?”
“Yes, Vice-House Warden,” They all echoed dutifully.
As Jamil marched away, Omar leaned over to Babkak. “I’ve got twenty madol that say he confesses before the spring party.”
*
Jamil’s muscles were burning, and he welcomed it. He needed the distraction after this morning and basketball practice against Floyd in full force was a pretty good diversion. Ace had been uncharacteristically distracted all practice. Although Jamil couldn’t help but notice that Ace seemed to pass a little harder than necessary.
During a water break, Ace came up to Jamil. He tossed his water bottle between his hands, taking a step away and then closer.
Jamil knew he would regret it before he even asked, “What’s up, Ace?”
Ace startled, surprised Jamil had made the first move. “I heard something,” He said. “In potions class today.”
“Did someone blow up something again? Anyone get turned into an animal or something?”
Ace pressed his lips together. “Do you like (Y/N)?”
Jamil couldn’t decide whether to be exhausted, flustered, or annoyed. “Who told you that?”
Ace’s eyes widened in shock. “You do?!”
“No!” Jamil snapped back. “People are just going around spreading rumors.”
“Huh?” Floyd asked, sliding over on the bleachers. “I thought everyone knew already.”
“Knew?”
Floyd flashed his sharp teeth. “Come on, Sea Snake. Everyone knows you’re, what’s the land term? Head over heels for Shrimpy.”
Ace dropped his water bottle and jabbed an accusatory finger at Jamil. “I knew it!”
“You don’t know anything,” Jamil said, shoving Ace’s hand aside.
“Oh?” Floyd said, leaning in a little too close. “So that means she’s available then?”
“No!” Ace and Jamil both shouted at the same time. Ace glared at Jamil. A few other members of the basketball club glanced over, snickering to themselves at the outburst.
Ace puffed out his chest, planting himself solidly in front of Jamil. “Look, (Y/N) is one of my best friends. And if you do anything to mess with her then… then…” Ace fumbled, running out of steam with his threats before catching his second wind. “Then you’ll have to deal with Jack!”
Jamil crooked an eyebrow. “Jack? Not you or Deuce?”
Ace shrugged. “Jack’s the biggest. But Deuce did used to be a delinquent. I’ve seen him be pretty brutal when he wants to. And I guess Epel can scrap up too, when Vil isn’t around. Probably couldn’t convince Sebeck to help out, he’d just lecture about a knight’s honor or something. Ooh, Ortho had a blast cannon! So, you know, watch out!”
“I like how you didn’t put yourself in the line of fire there, Crabby,” Floyd said. He rolled his shoulders. “But you know, I think Shrimpy is pretty great, too. I don’t want to see her sad or anything. So if someone were to maybe break her heart,” He glanced sideways as Jamil with crazed wide eyes. “Can you swim, Sea Snake?”
Jamil just glowered back at him. “Can everyone just stop talking about (Y/N) today?”
“People are talking about me?” All three of them jumped. (Y/N) walked into the gym, Grim hanging off her shoulders. “I thought I felt my ears burning.”
“Shrimpy!” Floyd immediately ran up to her, sweeping her up in a tight squeezing hug. Grim jumped off her shoulders with a yelp. Ace yelled and pulled at Floyd’s jersey, trying to pry them apart.
(Y/N) weakly patted Floyd’s back with a free hand. “Hi, Floyd, hi, Ace. Sorry, I need Jamil real quick.”
The two boys froze, slowly turning their heads to stare at Jamil, who was busy hiding his face in his hands. They watched like hawks as (Y/N) walked over to Jamil.
“Hey,” She said. “You okay?”
“Fine,” He said, waving her off. “Just one of those days, you know?”
She frowned. “You need me to talk to someone? I can chew out Ace if you want. Floyd is sort of out of my league, though.”
Jamil sighed a laugh. “No, that’s fine.”
“Oh! Right! Hang on.” She slung her backpack off her shoulder, reaching in and pulling out a familiar water bottle. “Here, you left this in the library. One of the Scarabia first-years found it and asked me to bring it to you.”
“Oh, thanks. I was wondering where it was.” Jamil didn’t mention that he hadn’t been in the library at all today. As he reached to take it, their fingers brushed. Jamil grabbed the bottle and jerked back like he had been scorched. His heart was hammering, not from the exercise of basketball practice, and he was momentarily worried (Y/N) would be able to hear it. Not to mention if she would notice how clammy his hands had suddenly become.
“Well,” (Y/N) said. “I guess I’ll get out of your hair-”
“Wait!”
The entire basketball team, plus (Y/N) and Grim, turned to the sudden outburst. Babkak had half way thrown himself out of the doorway entrance to the gym, hand extended in a Stop motion. Omar guilty peaked out from the door frame.
“Uh, I mean,” Babkak said, back peddling.
“You should stay!” Omar jumped in. “I mean, we should all stay to watch practice! Support your local team and everything!” He weakly punched the air. “Go team?”
Jamil opened his mouth to chastise them again before (Y/N) spoke, “That sounds fun. I don’t get to see you guys play too often. If that’s okay with you, though.”
“Oh, um,” Jamil stuttred.
Floyd jumped up, throwing himself over Jamil’s shoulders and smiling wide. “Of course you can stay! You can watch Sea Snake show off!”
Jamil elbowed him. “You’re the one who shows off, Floyd.”
(Y/N) shrugged, smiling. (And Jamil definitely didn’t feel his heart flip.) “I don’t have any plans.”
As everyone got back in position for practice, Ace took his place, whispering to Jamil, “Remember: Ortho has a laser cannon.”
Jamil rolled his eyes.
From the corner of his eye, Jamil saw the group of Scarabia first-years shuffle into the bleachers around (Y/N) and Grim. He thought he saw a few of them hiding objects behind their backs, but was pulled back to the game before he could investigate further.
He lost himself back in the game. Sneakers squeaked against the waxed wooden floor, the bounce of the ball reverberated around the gym, each quick and practiced movement by the players blurring at the edge of Jamil’s vision. Another player passed him the ball. He faked left, turning around Floyd, before lining up a shot at the three point line. He raised the ball, arms tensing in preparation to shoot and-
A blare of sound echoed through the gym, bouncing off the acoustic walls and tumbling down around everyone in attendance. The ball slipped from Jamil’s hands, falling uselessly in a pathetic arc and bouncing across the court floor. Jamil turned to the bleachers where the noise had come from. The first-years, Jamil now recognized them as the string quartet from earlier, now made up a brass band. The noise he had heard was the blast from a tuba. The rest of the band joined in, trumpets, french horn, and bugle. They started playing a high-energy marching tune. How many instruments did these people know how to play anyway? Omar and Babkak had red and yellow pom poms, waving them enthusiastically. Babkak passed a pair to a bewildered (Y/N).
“Go, Vice-Housewarden Jamil!” Babkak cheered.
“Show them who’s boss, sir!” Omar whooped.
Everyone froze, looking from the impromptu cheering section and band to Jamil then back again. Jamil’s face felt as hot as the Scalding Sands desert at noon. It didn’t help at all when Floyd started cackling.
He began to march over to confront his dorm mates, again, when a new echoing sound made him pause. (Y/N) had thrown her head back in laughter. She stood, waving the pom poms above her head.
“Go, Jamil, go!” She cheered.
Jamil was pretty sure he was going to spontaneously combust at any second.
*
The rest of practice had been a disaster. Every time Jamil got the ball the bleachers would erupt in noise, distracting him and everyone else trying to play. Jamil had never felt so off his game, fumbling the ball, bumping into his teammates, and losing focus at every moment that mattered, and most of the ones that didn’t, too. He purposely avoided turning in the direction of the cheering squad, partially because he wanted to discourage whatever activities the first-years were insistent on doing, and partially so he didn’t have to see (Y/N) cheer for him so enthusiastically. (And, maybe, so she wouldn’t be able to see how flustered he was becoming with every second.)
A teammate had patted Jamil’s shoulder in sympathy as they headed to the showers after practice. “Don’t worry,” He said. “I bet she still likes you.”
Jamil resisted the urge to punch him.
Now, at least, he was back in a rhythm of something he knew how to do: cooking. Ever since his stint in the Culinary Crucible, the ghost chefs had tapped him and a few other stand out cases to help out in the kitchen every once and a while.
The kitchen filled with the scent of roasting spices and sizzling meat, spilling out into the cafeteria sitting area. Students had started lining up way before the kitchen officially opened to secure their plate of Jamil’s cooking. Jamil felt the tension melt out of his shoulders, much like the butter in the pan he was currently using, as he fell into his familiar rhythms.
“Thanks again for your help,” One of the ghost chefs said, floating by with a steaming bowl of freshly made turmeric rice.
“Not a problem,” He replied. “It gets me out of my own head.”
“Oh?” Another ghost asked. “Having troubles, youngster?”
“Girl troubles, maybe?” Another snickered.
All the ghosts jumped as Jamil brought down a butcher knife to decapitate a fish. They collectively decided it was maybe best to drop the topic, already deceased or not.
“Ah, Jamil, chef, sir?” A student volunteer said, warily eyeing the butcher knife. “Someone was having an issue with their meal. They wanted to talk to you.”
So much for his relaxation. Jamil quickly let the others know what to keep an eye on in the kitchen and headed out to the main sitting area. He scanned the tables. It looked like everyone was enjoying their food as far as he could tell. He looked back into the window of the kitchen. The volunteer student pointed at a table near the back by a window. He was about half way across the room when he realized that the student was a Scarabia student, a first-year in fact. And, now that he thought of it, he didn’t think he had seen that student in the kitchen before he had come to talk to Jamil.
Jamil froze, seeing exactly who was sitting at the indicated table. This was a set up. He turned around to go back, only to be stonewalled by two now very familiar Scarabia students.
“Hello, sir!” Omar chirped.
“Taking your dinner break?” Babkak asked. “Great! We have the perfect table for you.”
They both hooked their arms around Jamil’s and practically dragged him over to the table where (Y/N) and Grim sat.
“Oh, hi,” She said, blinking at the surprise arrival. Jamil felt his throat tighten and couldn’t formulate a response.
The musically talented first-years descended to the table, quickly picking up her plate of food to whisk a tablecloth over the table, setting down a candelabra which was quickly lit, and a vase with a dozen roses.
“Roses,” Omar whispered to Babkak with a sly smile. Babkak rolled his eyes. The two shoved Jamil into a seat opposite (Y/N). A plate of food was set in front of him. The sneaky Scarabia student from the kitchen grabbed Grim, shoving a plate of tuna tartare in his paws before he could protest. Then, the group of wannabe restaurateurs vanished as quickly as they had appeared. The two left at the table, Jamil and (Y/N), looked at eachother with confusion. Jamil dropped his head to stare intently at his plate, stabbing at the sayadieh with his fork.
“Hey,” Jamil was jerked out of his thoughts by (Y/N)’s voice. “I wanted to apologize for earlier, at practice. It looked like we were a pretty big distraction.”
“You don’t need to apologize,” Jamil said. “It wasn’t your fault.” He glared at the first-years eagerly watching from a table a safe distance away.
“Yeah, but still, I don’t need to make your life any harder.”
Jamil looked up at her. She was twirling her spoon around the tabouli, eyebrows furrowed in deep thought. “You don’t make my life harder,” he insisted. “In fact, you’ve made a lot of things easier. My relationship with Kalim is a lot better now, for one thing.”
She smiled at him, and his heart definitely didn’t skip a beat. “Well, glad I can help, then. But don’t sell yourself short. You’ve been doing a lot of work since everything that happened.” She waved her hand, regarding the invisible thing they both understood. It was still hard to talk directly about his Overblot, the manipulation, abuse of magic, and kidnapping aside. (Y/N) had told him she wanted to give him space for it, to consider how he felt and talk to others at his own pace, but still trying to address the root of the issues. That was when she had started organizing those sessions between her, Jamil, and Kalim, giving them a place to directly talk with each other without outside pressures and influences, helping them work things together as friends instead of the master/servant role Jamil so often felt himself confided to.
“This is great, by the way,” (Y/N) interjected, scooping up a mouthful of tabouli. “I can always tell when it’s your cooking. Thanks for those leftovers the other day. I know Grim really likes them too.”
“Oh, yeah, of course,” He said. He didn’t say, “I didn’t make it for Grim. I made it for you.” He blanched at the intrusive thought and snatched up his water glass, taking a large gulp and trying not to choke.
“You sure you’re okay?” (Y/N) asked. “You’ve seemed kind of on edge all day.”
“I’ll deal with it later,” Jamil said, looking over at the first-years who started enthusiastically nodding and giving him thumbs-up.
(Y/N) drummed her fingers against the table. “Listen, actually, there’s been something I’ve been wanting to talk to you about-”
“Lgeimat!” Jamil shouted.
She blinked at him. “Sorry?”
“The lgeimat! I left them in the fryer! Sorry, have to go, have a good night!” Jamil shot up and zipped back to the safety of the kitchen.
“I didn’t know we were having lgeimat tonight,” Omar said from their spying perch.
Babkak thudded his head on the table at their third defeat. “We’re not.” He grumbled.
*
Jamil collapsed on the low couches in the Scarabia common room, arm flung across his face to cover his eyes from the late evening light. The day felt like it went on forever. Jamil had caught himself constantly looking over his shoulder, jerking at every unexpected sound, in anticipation of an over eager group of first-years.
“Hi, Jamil-Oh,” Kalim stopped himself, looking over at his drained friend. “You okay?”
Jamil sighed in response. “Long day.”
“Oh.” Kalim sat down next to him. “Do you want to talk about it?”
Jamil peered out from under his arm at Kalim. At least that was one improvement, again, thanks to (Y/N) specific intervention. Kalim had slowly been teaching himself not to jump to conclusions or take it upon himself to fix everything by throwing money or extravagance at it, but by taking the time to hear other people, namely Jamil, out first. Of course, that didn’t mean he wouldn’t throw money or extravagance at the problem in the end, but progress was progress.
Jamil gave Kalim a halfhearted glare. “It’s all thanks to that rumor you started.”
Kalim blinked. “Rumor? Oh, you mean about how you’re in love with-”
“Yes!” Jamil cut him off, sitting bolt upright. “That! Some first-years heard you the other day and have been following me around, trying to start up some grand romantic gesture.”
“Oh, yeah, I heard about that. I think it’s sweet.”
“Sweet?”
“That everyone believes in you! Everyone knows how hard you work. We all want to see you happy and with the person you love.”
Jamil stood. “Kalim, I’m not-”
“Nope.” Kalim said shooting up. He put his hands on the taller boy’s shoulders, forcing him to meet his eyes. “You’ve been different ever since winter break. You smile more when (Y/N)’s around. You’re not so tense all the time. And whenever we’re in a group, like at the cafeteria or dorm meetings or parties, you’re always looking for her. And when you see her your whole face just lights up! Do you know how often you talk about her? It’s a lot, Jamil! ‘Oh, I wonder what (Y/N) would think about this. Do you think (Y/N) has that in her world? Do you think (Y/N) likes spicy or sweet food? Do you think (Y/N)’s doing okay at Ramshackle? Do you think she needs help with any repairs like when we stayed there during VDC training? (Y/N) sure works real hard to catch up with a whole new culture. Do you think (Y/N) would want this extra curry?’”
“I don’t sound like that,” Jamil protested weakly.
Kalim sighed, hands on his hips. “I’ve known you my whole life. I know what you’re like when you’re mad, I know what you’re like when you’re sad, I know what you’re like when you’re happy, and now I know what you’re like when you’re in love.”
Jamil pushed back. “I’m not in love with her!”
“Yes, you are!”
“I’m not-” Jamil cut himself off. He felt suddenly dizzy. He sat down hard. “Oh, I’m in love with her.”
Kalim threw his hands in the air. “Yes! Thank you! Finally!”
“But,” Jamil continued, and Kalim tried really hard to keep his frustration to himself. “I can’t tell her that. I can’t… put that kind of pressure on her. She has enough going on with Grim and Ramshackle and trying to find a way home and… Sevens, she’s going back home, Kalim! I don’t know when or how, but she won’t even be in this universe! And what, I’m just supposed to show up and dump this emotional baggage on her when she already has everything else to worry about?”
Kalim sat down next to Jamil. He twirled his fingers together, trying to collect his thoughts. Why was it always so hard to know the right thing to say? “You said feelings were like a two way street yesterday, remember? So don’t you think (Y/N) should have a say too?”
“Kalim, I can’t-”
“Yes you can!” Kalim shouted, jumping up and clapping his hands. “You’re Jamil Viper! If anyone can do it, can do anything, it’s you! And keeping everything bottled up isn’t fair to you or her or anyone. So-So-” Kalim frowned, trying to look stern, a very strange expression for the normally boisterous boy. “So go tell her how you feel right now, and let her decide what happens next! That’s an order as your house warden!” Kalim flinched. “Please.”
Jamil stared at him for just a second too long, making Kalim squirm with worry that he had gone too far. Then, Jamil sighed, resigned, a half smile on his face. “Well, if my house warden is ordering it, how can I say no?”
*
Despite what he had told Kalim, Jamil dreaded every step towards Ramshackle dorm. Even with the ‘order’ from his house warden, Jamil considered turning back. Instead, with each uncertain step, he plotted out exactly what he would say. Was it just as simple as ‘I have feelings for you?’ Should he have some grand gesture ready? Absolutely not. Those first-years had spoiled that concept for him.
Before he realized it, Jamil was walking up the pathway to the dilapidated dorm. He stood at the front step, fist up ready to knock. It hovered there. A plan, he still needed a plan. He couldn’t just walk in without a plan of what to say, what to do. He’d had the entire walk over here, how had he not come up with a more solid idea?
The door snapped open in front of him, Grim hurdling out, crashing into Jamil’s chest. “What-? Oh, hey!” Grim said, rubbing his head at the bump then cracking into a wide smile at the sight of Jamil. “Did you bring us dinner again?”
“Uh, no, not this time,” Jamil said, already thrown off.
Grim frowned. “Meh, whatever. I’m going to Sam’s anyway to get some tuna.”
“Milk and eggs!” (Y/N)’s voice called from inside. “You’re getting milk and eggs! And oranges if they have any.”
“That too!” Grim said. He winked then sped off down the path.
(Y/N) appeared at the doorway, clearly having sprinted to catch the dire beast before he left. “Grim, I said we don’t have the budget to- Oh, he’s gone. Right, sure, why not?” She sighed. “Hi, Jamil.”
Jamil swallowed hard. “Should I come back later?”
(Y/N) waved the idea off. “No, it’s fine, you’re already here. Come on in.”
Jamil followed her into the dorm to the sitting room just past the entrance hall. Despite the age and wear of the building, it was clear that (Y/N) had taken a lot of pride in fixing it up and keeping everything in order.
“Sorry, I was in the middle of doing dishes,” (Y/N) said, whipping her wet and slightly soapy hands against her skirt. “Go ahead and take a seat, I’ll get some tea and snacks.”
“It’s fine,” Jamil said, quickly standing back up after having just sat down on one of the overstuffed couches. “I know where everything is, I’ll get it.”
“No, no, you’re a guest. Take a break, I’ll get it.”
“It’s fine really. I’m sure Crowly has been keeping you busy all day.”
“And you’re just as busy. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it.”
“No, really, I-”
“Jamil!” Jamil jumped at her sudden outburst, his hands frozen in the air. She huffed and put her hands on her hips. “Honestly. You take care of everyone else all the time. Let me take care of you for once.”
Oh no. Oh no.
“Now sit down while I go make some tea.”
He sat down. This was worse than he thought. He really was in love.
She wanted to take care of him. Of him. When was the last time someone offered to take care of him, to lighten his load, to take responsibility for the burden? For as long as Jamil could remember that had been his job, his life. Kalim, Najma, his parents, the Scarabia students, everyone and everything. It was like he didn’t realize just how tired he was until (Y/N) offered to help. Why did her snapping at him just now make him feel so relieved?
Almost without thinking about it, Jamil’s feet took him into the kitchen. (Y/N) was standing at the stove, setting down a heavy teapot on the burner. She was mumbling to herself about something, Jamil couldn’t really hear what. His ears were ringing.
(Y/N) noticed that Jamil had come into the kitchen, turning to face him. She frowned, eyebrows knit together. “Jamil, I told you that - Oh!”
Ignoring his anxiety, ignoring that nagging thought that he didn’t have a plan, ignoring the churning nervousness in his stomach, Jamil pulled (Y/N) into a tight hug, burning his face in her hair.
“I like you,” He said, so softly that he had to repeat himself to make sure she heard, to make sure she understood the depth of his feelings. “I like you. I think I might even- I feel better when I’m with you, like I can be better. I don’t feel like everything I’ve done up until now is just in service to someone else, because all of those things lead me to meeting you. I feel like I can think clearly, that I don’t always have to be on alert. I want to take care of you, I want to be with you, I want us to be together. And I know - I know I’ve done horrible things in the past, I know you’ve seen me at my lowest. But you still see me, me, not anything else. Not the servant, not the diplomatic aid, not the Overblot monster- How could I not fall in love with you? So, (Y/N), please. I just - please.” He wasn’t quite sure what he was asking ‘please’ for, he only hoped she would understand.
(Y/N) trailed her fingers along his back, threading through his long hair. She pulled back, as much as Jamil’s embrace would allow. The corners of her eyes were dotted with tears. “Jeeze, Jamil,” (Y/N) said. “Way to steal my thunder. I wanted to say it first.”
Jamil let out a cracked laugh, tears welling up in his own eyes. “You did?”
(Y/N) hiccuped, laughing. “Yeah, of course. I thought I was being kind of obvious with it. I finally decided to suck it up and tell you at dinner earlier, but you just ran away so I thought you knew what I was going to say and didn’t feel the same.”
“Sorry, I guess I was nervous. And those first-years all day…”
(Y/N) laughed out loud. “I was wondering what was up with that. Was that Kalim or something?”
“For once, no. They took it upon themselves to try and set us up.”
“Aww, they care about you.” She hugged him close. “And I can see why.”
*
That weekend, it was finally time for the Welcome Spring party, and there were, indeed, more flowers than usual. Kalim was flitting around, making sure everything was organized and where it needed to be. Jamil had asked if he could leave for the morning, coming back when it was time for the party to start. And, even though he had been the one to ask for the time off, Jamil had double checked that it was okay with Kalim no less than a dozen times before he actually left. Kalim insisted repeatedly that he would be fine, that he had a handle on everything. And, maybe, for the most part he did. It definitely helped that Jamil had assigned tasks to several other dorm members the night before to make sure Kalim didn’t get too overwhelmed.
Just as the golden hour set in, magical floating lanterns bobbing along in the air amid swirling flower petals, the guests started to arrive. Kalim had sent out a recommended dress code ahead of time, requesting pastels, whites, and gold. Something to fit in with the refreshing and floral mood he wanted to create. Mostly, he was happy to report, everyone was able to follow the requirements. Heartslabyul students especially were rigidly adhering to the dress code under the watchful eye of their house warden. Most of them wore pinks, as it was the required color when taking care of the dorm flamingos so they already had something that would fit the theme. Savannaclaw didn’t much stick to theme, but had tried to comply with sticking puffy peony blossoms through belt loops or behind their ears. Octavinelle wore light blues and corals, studded with shimmering scales, pearls, and other bits of underwater flora. Scarabia, of course, as the hosts, were the most bejeweled, taking inspiration from the fairy gala that had inadvertently plunged the campus into chaos, but also resulted in beautiful flowing white and gold garments. Pomfiore stayed mostly in lavenders and lilacs, highlighted by golden embroidery in fantastic scenes and shapes. Ignihyde, for those who did show up, dug out whatever was the lightest color in their wardrobe, mostly staying in light blues. Similarly, no one was expecting much from the usually dour-toned Diasomnia. But, not wanting to create a social fopaux at one of the few events he had received an invitation to, thanks to (Y/N) reminding Kalim to expand his guest list at the last minute, Malleus had ensured that all his dorm members wore mint and emerald green with gold dotted throughout.
There was a noticeable absence of two usually prominent figures, but Kalim assured everyone Jamil and (Y/N) would be arriving soon. And, although Jamil had tried to slip in quietly while everyone’s attention was focused on the dance floor for an aerial ribbon performance, Kalim’s squeal of delight quickly diverted everyone’s attention. Jamil held in a groan as attention whirled to him and (Y/N). They both wore outfits from the fairy gala, meticulously designed and created by Professor Crewel. She squeezed his hand in support, dragging him further in, head held high while ignoring the stares. A few Scarabia students gave congratulations, thumping Jamil’s back as he passed. Ace caught Jamil’s eye from the other side of the room. He pointed to Ortho, who was waving excitedly, and drew a finger across his throat. Jamil rolled his eyes.
As the aerial dancers finished, (Y/N) drew Jamil to the dance floor. As a band kicked up (seriously, how many instruments did those Scarabia students know how to play?), (Y/N) wrapped her arms around Jamil’s neck as he placed his hands on her hips. He really hoped she wouldn’t notice how sweaty his palms had gotten.
“You’re nervous,” (Y/N) said. “I’m not used to seeing you like that.”
“I’ve just never really done this before,” Jamil said. “Not dancing, I’ve done that plenty. Just the whole relationship thing. I never really had a chance before. I don’t want to mess this up.”
“I think you’ve been doing pretty good so far.”
Jamil smirked. “It’s been two days.”
“Well, see? You’re gaining experience already.” She leaned forward, placing her head on his chest. “I’m nervous, too, you know. Not about this. I’m really confident how I feel about you, and I want to stay with you for as long as I can. I mean about everything going on around us. There’s a lot of unknown. Technically, you know, I don’t even exist. Don’t have any papers like a birth certificate or passport or even a valid nationality. But I know I have great people helping me out, including you. And knowing they’re on my side, it helps make things a little better. And I’m on your side. So everything will work out, you know?”
Jamil hummed. Lowley, in a quiet voice so he could dismiss it if she didn’t hear him, he asked, “Can I kiss you?”
(Y/N) looked up at him, smiling, eyes twinkling. “I’d like that.”

Off to the side, behind a bolt of silk cloth, Babkak handed Omar a 20 madol note.

SSR Rook Hunt - Savanaclaw Dorm Uniform Voice Lines
Savanaclaw Dorm Uniform Rook does not have a vignette
When Summoned: I vow here and now upon my ever-burning tenacious spirit that I shall repay this favor!
Summon Line: Welcome to Savanaclaw! ...I kid. It's a rather strange sensation to stand before you in this attire.
Groooovy!!: For the sake of bringing back the beautiful world that I cherish... I must strike to put a stop to this treacherous dream!
Home: Ah yes, I feel the spirit of persistence flowing through me.
Swap Looks: Time for a short break.
Home Idle 1: My hair is easily damaged by UV rays. If I don't take proper care of it, it starts to develop a wheat-like texture.
Home Idle 2: Oh là là! There are holes in my denim jeans around my knees... This would always happen whenever I would get caught up in chasing after animals.
Home Idle 3: You know how we stay in shared rooms until our junior year? As I thoroughly enjoy private time to myself, I found it quite nervewracking.
Home Idle - Login: I never would have imagined being able to traverse through a dream like this. ...My heart leaps in anticipation of the beautiful world I will witness!
Home Idle - Groovy: I truly do wish to see a movie where Neige-kun and Vil are both together the lead roles. One day, when that happens, you and I should go watch together!
Home Tap 1: I had forgotten just how easy it was to move around in the Savanaclaw dorm uniform... It's a refreshing sensation, especially since I'm more used to the Pomefiore dorm uniform now.
Home Tap 2: Are you interested in the paper I keep in my waist pouch? I keep these on hand to easily sketch my observations, or attach notes to arrows.
Home Tap 3: The King of Beasts overcame adversity and after strenuous efforts, was able to secure the throne. I absolutely hold his persistent spirit in high regards.
Home Tap 4: Truthfully, in the past, I would always just cut my bangs with a knife. At the time all I cared about was to keep my vision clear, after all.
Home Tap 5: My hat is dirty? Ah, you're right, it's covered in leaves, sticks, and even dirt... Fufu, if Vil were to see this unsightly mess, I would be in for a tongue-lashing.
Home Tap - Groovy: I find it slightly embarrassing to have others witnessing my innermost thoughts. Of course, you would keep to yourself anything you see or hear in my dreams... Wouldn't you?
Duo: [ROOK]: Vil, I dedicate this victory to you! [VIL]: Do ensure that you take them down, Rook.
