Ilê Aiyê is a carnival block located in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Carnival blocks, carnaval blocos or blocos de rua are street bands that mobilize crowds on the streets and are the main popular expression of Brazilian Carnival. The name Ilê Aiyê stems from the Yoruba language: Ilé - home; Ayé - life; which can be loosely translated as 'earth'. It was founded in 1974 by Antônio Carlos “Vovô” and Apolônio de Jesus, making it the oldest Afro-Brazilian block.

6 Types of Protection Magick
Tumblr media
There are many ways one can do protective magick. In this post I'll be going into 6 of the most common and accessible ones!
Please understand that even one "protection magick type" can be done in an infinity of ways, some of which are closed to certain practices.
Disclaimer: based on my experience and research. I don't claim to know all truth. Further study is encouraged!
_________________♡♤◇♧_________________
#1 — Magic circle
Tumblr media
The magic circle consists of creating a protection and delimiting a sacred space for magic and/or ritual.
The magic circle is probably one of the most popular protection methods thanks to its encouraged use in Wicca. However, other traditions have made use of similar concepts, such as in the afro-brazillian Umbanda concept of "chain".
The circle can be physically drawn on the ground, delimited by the members inside the circle, or visualized.
Casting one is fairly simple since it can be done in different ways, either in groups or solitary practice. You can use tools such as wands, chalk or physical objects to draw it, but what matters most is intention and successful visualization.
Before casting a circle it's important to have everything you will need already within grasp and inside the circle, since once created it is advisable that no one leaves it until the work is complete.
#2 — Amulets, and Enchanted Items
Tumblr media
Enchanted Items are a very popular and effective form of magic, especially for personal use. These are often common objects that have been enchanted for protection.
They are often necklaces, rings and other jewelry since these are the most practical to carry around without suspicion. However, they can be any object.
Amulets can be created via enchanting, charms, or by asking deities and spirits to bless them with protective qualities.
The material and imagery used to create the talisman is also important in determining the kind of job it wants to do.
#3 — Sigils and other drawn Symbols
Tumblr media
Sigils and Symbols can be used both for personal protection and for warding spaces. Here I am also including Runes.
They can be carved into objects, drawn upon skin and surfaces, or even tattooed.
However, before using any sigil, symbol or rune it is of extreme importance that you know exactly what they do, and know as much about them as possible. Especially if you plan on drawing them on your skin (either temporarily or permanently).
Unless specifically used only for protection purposes, inadequate use of them can lead to disaster. Even then, the type of protection they bring can vary.
For example, a protection sigil that works by hiding you from threats is different from a sigil that fights threats that come to you. It's important to set or to know how their protection work so that you do not come across unwanted results.
#4 — Prayer
Tumblr media
My definition of praying: focusing on sending a message to a higher spiritual power, be it an entity, deity or energy.
Prayers are a great way of manifesting protection, though since you are asking for it to a higher power you must understand that it may choose to not grant it, or not grant it in the way you expect.
Plus, it is very important to know where you stand with this energy or entity. Do you work with them already? For how long? What is the nature of the relationship? Do you truly know them well enough to ask them for this? Is it really appropriate?
Cultivating a good relationship and having manners can be decisive factors for manifesting this sort of protection. Plus, it's always good to "give back" in some way. To receive something, something must be given eventually.
#5 — Affirmations and Visualizations
Tumblr media
Words and the mind have innate power. Affirmations and visualizations are great ways to manifest protections because they rely only on yourself.
They are easier to do right if you use them together with other methods, or if you have physical representations of the work being done. To be successful one must focus, "feel" them happening, and maintaining that without help can be difficult. Frequent practice will help you get the hang of it.
There are also techniques that make affirmations and visualizations both more powerful and easier to accomplish.
#6 — Warding
Tumblr media
Warding is when you set up a semi-permanent protection in a specific place, such as your house.
It can be done in many different ways. One of the most common is to have an object or place designated as the "holder" of the ward, which should be well kept.
Warding will be more powerful if you are frequently cleansing the space and recharging the ward. Leaving it alone for too long can weaken in or make it lose its properties altogether.
Some plants are used for this kind of protection, since they (usually) stay in place, can be powerful magical allies, and you'll be checking on them often anyway. The ones usued are often those with thorns, threatening-looking leaves, or even poison.
Note: always be very careful about bringing poisonous plants home, especially if you have children or pets.
Tumblr media
Conclusion
This was an overview of the most common types of protective magick. A lot of protection spells and works fall somewhere within these categories, or are a combination of them.
Each tradition has a certain way of going about spiritual protection, so if you are exploring an specific path, I encourage you to not only research about protection in general but to also look into what unique techniques your path has to offer!
Many blessings and thank you for reading! ♡

Explaining the issue people have with Venus hair:
I would like to note that:
I’m half black (racially ambiguous) and have a loose Afro (something between 3c and 4a). The lack of Afro hair representation is an issue that affects me directly, but not as much as darker skin folks.
I’m not a G3 hater, this post is made due to disappointment. I like G3, but it’s not perfect and some aspects could really be improved.
Starting with a hot take, Venus having straight hair, in a vacuum, isn’t an issue. The real issue lies in the context, of all the female dolls in G3 she was the only one allowed to have textured hair.
The protagonist of this generation is black and has Afro hair in the show, but she is barely allowed to have it in her dolls.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Catty Noir who is black coded also wasn’t allowed to have textured hair in her debut, only a few braids.
Tumblr media
G3 clearly has racist/texturists tendencies when it comes to their black characters, which is such a bummer for a generation that prides itself on inclusivity. Black folks deserve proper hair representation. Our hair has been called ugly, unsanitary, (bombril if you are brazillian), for ages and the lack of representation contributes to that idea.
I was born in the 2000s, fairly recently, yet I still had almost no dolls with hair like mine growing up. The only doll I ever owned with hair like mine was a Howleen Wolf doll. And it’s not like G1 had a lot of dolls with Afro hair either, she was one of the few exceptions.
When G3 came out I was hopeful we would get more amazing dolls with different hair textures. It breaks my heart seeing them miss the mark so badly.
Straight haired Venus isn’t the issue, it’s a symptom.

ID start: a tumblr reply from @zndr315-blog reading "You know, after hearing this, I'm kinda glad that the only X-Men media I've ever gotten invested in is the 90s cartoon and X-Men '97". end ID.
This reply was left on this post of mine (text is a link) about the Terra Verde X-Force plot, and I just want to take a second to respond to this publicly, because this is um... kind of an upsetting comment to receive?
I'm an X-Men blog. I have an X-Men url. I have a deep and abiding love of X-Men comics.
So like, I don't exactly love someone coming onto my blog to tell me they're glad they never got into X-Men comics? Especially not when their example of an, I guess, "better" X-Men medium is a show that couldn't even get an Afro-Brazillian actor to voice their version of one of, if not the most prominent Afro-Brazillian superheroes-- not just in Marvel comics, but probably in superhero comics as a whole?
I didn't like X-Force 2019. A lot of people didn't. But I do love X-Men comics. This is because there are a lot of genuinely good X-Men comics! Even some of the bad ones have a special place in my heart.
I genuinely do not understand the urge to come on to the blog of me, an X-Men fan, just to tell me you're glad you never got into X-Men.

Applying my luck cats for the entry!
Ella is an afro-brazillian punk cat with extreme bad luck that works part-time on her hyperfixation as a barber and full-time as a folkloric dancer and singer in a circus she organized with her friends, she's the dance and singing partner to her soulmate, Jayden the calico. Ella is very passionate bold person who is allergic to rules, but is extremally kind and easily embarassed and socially awkward and very very loyal to her family. Jayden, an indigenous-brazillian cat, with extreme good luck, is very kind, gentle and calm, loves to take care of others and make sure they know they are loved, but due to that nature it's easy to overlook how he's equally as punk and a chaos lover as her(despite his chronic anxiety)
Honestly, they love being anarchists so must that they can't keep a job, because on every job of theirs on their first day they start a union and get kicked out. They're also t4t relationship anarquists, not even their relationship is safe from their love of anarchy. They used to be toons in 1920 with their own cartoon, with Jayden being the hero and Ella being the villain, they hated each other and were enemies, but bonded at their passion for not letting others tell them what to be. When their rule-defying behaviour got the show cancelled, they were put to frozen animation, only to be rebooted in 2020, alongside Jayden's love interest, love rival, and two "fan favourite" secondary characters for an experimental first season.
During the reboot, they were re-written so drastically that they suffered amnesia, with eventual flashbacks of the past, and stood up to be more than what their roles told them they could be.
Aditional information: They’re on their 20s (or rather, they’re 120 years old)
Others: Jayden mini rant //

Beatriz Olivera
Nicknames: Bee, Oliver, Triz
Hero Name: Bioshock
Gender: Demigirl, She/They
Race: Afro-Latina (Afro-Brazillian)
Age: 16
Height: 6'6
Weight: 175
Hair: Black, with streaks of neon green. She cut it herself, so it's very choppy and curly.
Skin: Medium Dark
Eyes: Heterochromia. One of her eyes is brown, and the other is neon green like her hair.
Clothing: Cyberpunk
Quirk: Toxic Metal. Beatriz can make a radioactive metal from her body, that floats around her when she uses her quirk. In it's natural state it's highly radioactive, but Beatriz can adjust the radioactivity of it. She's capable of melting into the metal. Her quirk causes her hair to be streaked with bright green, as well as one of her eyes being green. The metal is also extremely acidic, and since it's radioactive it often causes radiation sickness if Beatriz doesn't use safe levels of radiation. Her quirk is also a biohazard, because it causes both radiation sickness and a horrible disease called CWD that normally occurs in deer. But thankfully as long as she keeps the radiation levels in the safe zone nobody gets hurt.
Personality: Cocky, sly, condescending, sardonic, Arrogant.
Temperment: Beatriz loves to explore with her hands and eyes, touching and examining the world around her with an impressive diligence, a casual curiosity, and a healthy dose of skepticism. Beatriz is a natural maker, moving from project to project, building the useful and the superfluous for the fun of it and learning from her environment as they go. Yuri finds no greater joy than in getting her hands dirty pulling things apart and putting them back together, leaving them just a little bit better than they were before. Beatriz definitely isn't inclined to socialize beyond what is necessary as she tries to accomplish goals.
Moral/ethical beliefs: Beatriz is a little unhinged when it comes to ethics. She enjoys watching people struggle and figure out how to work out problems. Despite this, she won't go past simple taunting, and if someone is genuinely struggling she'll help.
Religious Beliefs: None
Political Stance: Beatriz genuinely doesn't care about the government unless it has to do with heroes, as she is very aware of how corrupt all governments are.
Hobbies: Graffiti art, painting, playing electric guitar, dancing (heel dancing/Brazilian street dancing)
Habits: Beatriz has a habit of cracking her knuckles, and any other bone she can.
Quirks/eccentricities: Beatriz is morbidly curious about the human body, and has been tempted to use her quirk to its full potential just to see what happens.
Likes: Punk culture, Brazillian culture, video games, graffiti art, protests,
Dislikes: Socializing, low effort, unnecessary work,
Fears: Fear of criticism, Fear of Death (Thanantophobia)
Strengths: Overall IQ, strategy, getting straight to the point, physical strength,
Weaknesses: Communication, being too honest,
Short Term goals: Wants to get better control of her quirk
Long term goals: Wants to change the hero system.
Occupation: Student Hero
Skills: Art, Perception, Deception,
Secrets: Beatriz doesn't like how people perceive her as scary or cruel.
Always has: Paint markers, hair tie, various rings,
Sometimes has: Neon Green spray paint, butterfly knife
Backstory: Beatriz grew up in Recife, Brazil. She grew up watching a lot of Japanese and American media, and saw the heroes. She was mesmerized, and immediately started on her journey to become a hero. Her quirk is extremely dangerous, and there were a lot of mishaps when she was younger and it made her feel isolated, since a lot of people were scared of her. She eventually built her way up to the biggest hero school in Brazil. Yet, on her quest for greatness, she was never satisfied. So, despite the issues happening in Japan with villains, she convinced both her own school and UA to let her transfer. Then, after transferring to UA she went on to join class 1A.

♡ His actual name is Joseph but pefers joey
♡ insane cat lover, he owned like 6 cats back when he was alive
♡ joey was a famous disco star back in the 70s, unfortunately he would be essentially forgotten by the world decades after his death
♡ as a ghost I like to imagine that he can dilate his eyes, grow sharp claws when he feels scared or threatened
♡ he has this, thing where he can open his chest/torso like a briefcase and can take out his (manifested) damaged organs, ft. An artists shitty rendition that was made under 5 minutes
Tumblr media
♡ bisexual king [tm]
♡ he's afro Latino (specifically black brazillian)
♡ his hair might look like normal hair but because he's a ghost that died from suffocation by fog machine malfunction during his last concert, it's very misty and goes everywhere when you touch it
♡ he purrs whenever he's cozy or being affectionate to someone
♡ has a very tense relationship with Adrian and pretty much rivals with elmer, but the three ghosts so end up getting a long with each other as they learn to happily co exist with one another
♡ very much head over heels for sawyer, is terrified of confessing his feelings to him due to his fear of rejection and major commitment issues
♡ wears make up 24/7
♡ very fucking annoying about fashion
♡ I headcanon his voice to be Wayne Brady as king dice from the cuphead show
There's more I want to talk about him but this is what I'm putting here for now, thank you so much J for sending this and I'm so sorry that I took forever on answering this I was busy with school and kept forgetting ;_;

have i shared my Charlie design yet? idk. if not, here she isss <33
Tumblr media
INFO:
Her full name is Charlotte Marianna Eisenstein.
She's 16, and was born on October 31st, 1967.
He died on April 16th, 1983.
She's Brazillian, and Afro-Latina! She doesn't know who her parents are exactly, though, as she was adopted at a young age.
He (and the rest of the Eisenstein's) are Jewish :)
She's a she/he lesbian.
She works at Fredbear's Family Diner, and was hired by William.
He and William had a good relationship. Not even Will knows why he killed her.
She had planned on graduating early, and was already accepted into a college for robotics.
He has adhd, and struggles a lot with certain subjects in school; mainly, English and history.
Charlie's death goes a bit differently than what happened in the games; she was still locked out, but it was as a joke from one of her coworkers. William had pulled up and gave her a ride back to her house, only, he staged hitting an animal using a pothole, and Charlie -- wanting to help -- came out to investigate too, which is when he killed her.
William had put her body in the backseat, where Security Puppet was sat for repairs, which is how her soul merged with it.
He was extremely angry at first, almost as mad as Cassidy became, but after seeing the deaths of other children, that general anger soon faded into sympathy, and he quickly became the "mother" of the missing children, and attempted to protect them as much as he could.
That anger toward William never went away though, and got back on him by giving him a whole "restart" on his life post-Springlock. It was only an illusion. She also was the one who killed him; physically pulling him into the flames and ending everything once and for all.
It started with her, so it makes sense to end it there, too.

GhostBlossom Headcanon Lore-Dumping Part 2
(it's him. The man, the myth, the legend. PLANTBOI)
Tumblr media
When Cagney was very young (around 3 years old) his biological parents were ripped out of the ground. leaving him alone for a while, until a person by the name of Hilda Berg found him and adopted him as her son.
Hilda used some of her magic to make it so Cagney would grow extremely tall as he got older, in order for him to stand out and not get hurt as easily. Hilda also watched over Cagney like a hawk and was very overprotective of him.
Eventually, Cagney got fed up with Hilda's over-protectiveness (is that a word???) and one day snuck away from his home while Hilda was sleeping (she sleeps during the day)
Soon he would run into The Phantom Express and meet The Blind Specter. What happens next won't be said until part 3 (sorry gotta give you a cliff hanger :<)
-
Other headcanon things;
-Cagney is an AIAB (assigned intersex at birth) trans man and uses he/him pronouns.
-He is also bisexual
-Cagney has autism, cyclothymia (a mild version of bipolar disorder), and anxiety
-He is Afro-Brazillian + Mexican but developed a New Jersey accent from his environment (talk about Mr. Worldwide over here)
-He was non-verbal until the age of 13
-He is Jewish
-
Part 3 coming soon

claudette's mother's family was from brazil; her family immigrated to canada in 1969, during the influx of Latin Americans (some 68,000) in the early 1970s that can be partly attributed to canada’s “open door” immigration policy at the time. Her grandmother was a practioner of Candomblé before they emigrated to Canada, where mrs. morel felt preassured to conform to a more traditional (i.e. european) christian faith. in contrast, her father's family had lived in canada for decades. consisted of maternal relatives from the west indies (barbados) living in rural nova scotia since the 1910s, and paternal relatives who emigrated from new york (harlem) to montreal in the 1920s.  it offered a diverse upbringing (american family's entrepreneurship and academics; west indies family's deep roots in activism, african traditionalism and their grim history with africaville), and allowed him to genuinely feel as if he was a part of the larger black community in montreal. her parents' respective backgrounds reflected in their earlier parenting styles. mr. morel was typically kind, patient, and engrossed with his child's life because he understood that progeny was vital in community, for as often as he could be a part of it (both parents worked to pay for their apartment's rent). mrs. morel, on the other hand, experienced trauma from bullying and featurism, causing her to be deeply fixated on "fixing" claudette; buying her brushes and dolls and straightening creams, consistently enforcing an (admittedly french/european) feminine aesthetic unto her. mrs. morel was ashamed of her own heritage as an afro-brazillian immigrant and who she was at her core, consequently projecting that onto claudette between 2 and 7 years old, which is a vital developmental process for a child's core personality. the contrasting parenting styles was confusing and anxiety-inducing, especially when they would fearfully argue over claudette's future. They were able to afford a home, 3 meals a day, a fridge; but she barely saw her parents. They would have been considered part of the "working poor" in terms of "class." But she was loved. By her parents, by her community. By her passions. This is the story that must be told; this is the only story she understands. It allowed her to look beyond the status quos and accept herself as an afro-indigenous woman and a nonbinary person simultaneously. For example: she does not like to be referred to as "female" at all, due to the racist, negative connotations implied; white/European slavers referred to enslaved African women as "female" to dehumanize them, and segregate them from their "innocent" white women which was their ideal definition of womanhood under white supremacy. But Claudette's story possibly becomes more nightmarish as she enters the fog. Considering that its canon that the Black Vale cult uses quantum mathematics to lure survivors and killers alike into the fog and its trials, it is possible that her existence was not random; she, like every single victim of the fog, was chosen. by design.
