Plant of the Day
Tuesday 21 January 2020
Often growing in the same forests as Coffea arabica (coffee) is Aframomum corrorima (Ethiopian cardamom, false cardamom, korarima). This is a species in the ginger family, Zingiberaceae, and the ground seeds are used extensively in Ethiopian cuisine and herbal medicine. The fruits are found at soil level and traditionally can be dried and stored above the fire in the kitchen.
