Using a newly developed camera that swung in an arc from horizon to horizon, technicians of the Boston University Research Laboratory and the U.S. Air Force made this photo of Manhattan and the Bronx at a height of 10,000 feet on July 29, 1949.

The picture takes in a 260-mile sweep from the northern horizon, top, to southern horizon, bottom. An ordinary camera at this height would only have photographed about half of Central Park. The Hudson River is at left with the George Washington Bridge at top left. The Bronx lies beyond the Harlem River at upper right, with Long Island Sound at top right. The East River runs along the right. Staten Island is at lower left and Brooklyn is at lower right.

Kayla grunted as she tightened her grip on the scarves, allowing her to twist and flip with better ease.

“Looking good sweetums!” Reggie called from below, snapping away with his camera.

“Stop distracting her!” hissed Julie as she scaled the ladder upwards. “I know there’s a net but the impact still stings!”

“Sorry darlin’!” Reggie called back, but Kayla could swear he was biting back a smile.

Julie took a deep breath, chalking her hands once more as she grasped the trapeze, catching Kayla’s gaze. “Right, just like in practice.”

She swing out, arcing wide as she flew through the air, building her momentum. Concentrating until she saw Kayla’s arms open to catch her. Julie let go, going into a somersault and then reaching out, hands grasping Kayla when she was in reach.

She could vaguely hear Reggie whooping below, and would scowl at him but she could only concentrate on Kayla’s dazzling smile. “You ready for the next part my jewel?”

“As I’ll ever be,” Julie replied.

Kayla beamed and pulled Julie up into a scorching kiss before rocking them towards the waiting hoop, then flinging Julie towards it.

Julie giggled as her legs caught the hoop, righting herself on it, and waving down at Reggie. “You catch all that?”

“Every moment my angels!” he called out.

“You wanna join us?” Kayla asked as she twisted further up and down her silks.

“I’m perfectly happy on the ground, thanks!” Reggie said, and thankfully neither of them teased about his fear of heights.

Thankfully they both lowered themselves to the ground, though he quickly lifted them both up to kiss them and spin them in circles as they did.

“I can’t wait to see the shots you got,” Kayla said. “They’ll make great promo for our show.”

“As long as Jules translate them into paintings to keep the vibe,” Reggie said. “Or you use them for those cool multimedia videos you’re so good at.”

“Don’t downplay your own artistry hun,” Julie said. “You inspire us, capture us, and show the world our art in a way that makes them come see us.”

Reggie blushed, but grinned. “I just shoot what’s there.”

Kayla took his arm, and Julie the other. “Let’s go home so we can see those shots. Maybe take a few more just for us.”

Julie grinned a predatory smile. “I love the way your mind works.”

The photos that Reggie took that day turned out to be some of his best-especially the ones he couldn’t share.

For someone with anxiety, Alex knows his job is a bit of a strange pick. Climbing a tiny ladder up to a tiny platform high, high above the ground only to fling himself into the air holding on to just a little bar attached to two pieces of wire doesn't seem like something people who get anxious easily would do.

But when he's in the air, he's flying. He's in complete control of his body, he knows exactly what to do, he knows exactly where the bar will be.

And most of all, he trusts his partner with his life. Willie will always be there to catch him, to grab him, just like they've practiced over and over a hundred, a million times. With every gasp of the crowd, Alex knows Willie will be at the end of it, steady hands and a firm grip, and a beautiful, sparkling smile just for him.

Yeah, Alex gets anxious about a lot of things, but two things in his life have never sent him into a panic. And that's being a trapeze artist, and falling in love with Willie.

In this report, evidence and documentation collected by DCIP indicate that Israeli forces are deliberately targeting Palestinian children with the intent to unleash cruel and degrading treatment up until the moment of the child’s death. Israeli authorities, which have the ability to hold Israeli soldiers and military officials accountable, are unwilling to take action to stop the killing of Palestinian children.

This report is based on evidence collected by DCIP’s field researchers documenting 141 Palestinian child fatalities in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, between October 7, 2023, and July 31, 2024.

20 percent of the Palestinian children killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since 2000 have been killed after October 7, 2023 at a rate of one child every two days.

Israeli forces deliberately target and shoot unarmed children with live ammunition and trained snipers. Israeli forces and settlers shot and killed 116 Palestinian children in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, between October 7, 2023 and July 31, 2024.

Israeli forces have killed 25 Palestinian children in aerial attacks in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, between October 7, 2023 and July 31, 2024. Some children were directly targeted while others were collateral damage as Israeli forces deployed aerial attacks in densely populated civilian areas.

Israeli forces and authorities systematically deny Palestinian children their right to medical care when preventing ambulances, paramedics, or bystanders from providing medical care to a child shot with live ammunition or struck in an Israeli airstrike. In 43 percent of cases in this report, Israeli forces deliberately prevented injured Palestinian children from receiving medical care by detaining and firing live ammunition toward ambulances, paramedics, and civilians attempting to provide aid.

Israeli authorities and forces systematically, deliberately, and specifically embolden Israeli settler violence towards Palestinian children. Israeli forces present during armed Israeli settler attacks fail to prevent the aggression, fail to help the Palestinian victims, and often collaborate with the settlers in inflicting lethal harm. In two cases, Israeli forces and settlers fired toward Palestinian children simultaneously, and DCIP was unable to determine which perpetrator fired the fatal bullet.

Israeli forces killed at least 49 Palestinian children during the intensified large-scale and deadly incursions into Palestinian refugee camps in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, between October 7, 2023 and July 31, 2024. 

The fatal shootings of child protesters in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza and the use of expanding bullets during the crackdowns constitute war crimes prosecutable at the ICC. In October 2023, Israeli forces shot and killed four Palestinian children with expanding bullets designed to increase in size upon impact, inflicting fatal internal injuries.

Israeli authorities’ practice of confiscating and withholding Palestinian bodies is a violation of international humanitarian law and international criminal law, which include absolute prohibitions on cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment. Israeli authorities have confiscated 18 Palestinian children’s bodies in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, between October 7, 2023 and July 31, 2024.

Israeli authorities work to ensure Israeli forces continue enjoying impunity and face no consequence for the extrajudicial killing of Palestinian children. There are no known accounts of accountability during this reporting period.

The white shark (Carcharodon carcharias) is the largest predator fish in the world, however, the early life history and reproduction of this iconic shark is still poorly understood, in fact, no one has seen a white shark puppy in the wild, nonetheless, recent aerial observations made by drone off California, USA, have revealed the first images of a white shark puppy.

Footage done by wildlife filmmaker Carlos Gauna and biologist Phillip Sternes in July 2023, revealed seconds of a single pale pup, which apparently was shedding its embryonic layer. This record robusts the idea the coast of central California acts a birthing location for white sharks. This shark was stimated to reach 1.5 m in lenght. Many researchers believe white sharks are born farther out at sea, due the elusivity to find pups. This finding means they are likely to born in shallow waters.
