“Have you ever acted as a witness at a trial?” she asks Dad that night after Paetus leaves. They’re sitting on the porch, watching the sunset and Dad is taking photos of it with his camera. She can’t remember what it was like to watch regular sunsets that weren’t veiled by smoke and dust. Now, the pollution in the atmosphere dulls the bright orange, red and purple, leaving them muted, like a water-damaged painting.

“A few times, yes. Court martials mostly - I’ve testified against soldiers who’ve gone AWOL, but my most prominent occasion was following the Relay 314 Incident. As a general, I needed to give my testimony to the council on the Citadel, and it was a well-publicized affair. Media taking notes and doing sketches, armed guards - asari and salarians, separating the human contingent from the Hierarchy one, and hours on the stand. Nothing was left out - when they started asking me about the fucking latrines, I knew they were about a step away from asking how many times I took a shit on that damned planet,” Dad says bitterly.

“Shit,” she mutters and Dad sets down his camera and gives her a wry look.

“It was not my favourite experience. Your mother was home and she’d been wounded prior to the evacuation - not seriously, but that scar on her thigh is from earlier that day. Much of the time it’s been benign - asked about my impression of whomever is on trial, my service history with them, and whatever I witnessed.”

“What about the last time you were…”

“Caught using my body as a shield? I wasn’t called to the stand that time. I have little memory of the incident and would not have been a useful witness - particularly when my squad was there and not spraying blood on the ground.” She winces and Dad’s face falls. “Sorry. Easier to joke about it, but your mom isn’t ready for such jokes and I should’ve known you would find them painful too.”

“Marcus would appreciate them?”

“He had a good quip about my body being the broken ground for the new underground tunnels here in the city the first time he saw me. Made me laugh but fuck did it hurt to do so,” Dad says, and she giggles.

“My recall of the situation is better this time around, so I’ll likely be called. Given the way the prosecutor is preparing you, you’ll be called too.”

They aren’t allowed to talk to one another about the details of their testimony to avoid tainting their recollections of what happened. “Guess there’s no chance of the two of them pleading guilty, huh?”

“Given that it’s a death sentence even if they do plead down from treason to pre-meditated murder, they’ll draw the whole fucking thing out as much as they can. I’m sorry, Aurelia. After all you’ve been through, it’s just one more cruelty and I’m not happy about it, because I cannot protect you.”

I just wanna point out that is not always a low empathy thing to share a relatable story about yourself when somebody shares their own hurt. That's a communication style very common to people with autism and ADHD, including those with high empathy, because it shows "hey, I can understand at least a little what you're going through, it's safe to talk to me about it". If you do NOT do that then you come off as the rude asshole/person with zero empathy to people with that communication style. Not doing so communicates "I can't understand you and I don’t care enough to try". (But the writing for Adrien is so bad it 100% comes off as selfish guy who needs to be the center of attention, not as a communication style thing)

Yeah it always depends on the context. I always try to make it relatable myself but I think it comes off the wrong way 😅

no friend no worries! this is actually something my dear @bugaboooooooooo tagged a post with while ago and i agreed with it so hard i just adopted it. "felix fathom" is a stupid name and also the last name of his abuser. i hate that ao3 and other platforms changed it from "graham de vanily" to "fathom" for both these reasons so i'm just gonna keep tagging "felix f*th*m" like the illegal name it should be.

The list of ML S6 episodes title has appeared and it feels like it is the real deal.

I know others have written about it, but here is my analysis and speculations based on the episode title down below.

601 - Climatiqueen Sounds like Stormy Weather got an upgrade (her french name is Climatika). Nice little nod to the pilot of the previous arc too.

602 - Dessinatriste A nod to "le Dessinateur" (Evillustrator)? With this time the adjective "triste" (sad) included in this new name. Although, it could be a girl character as the name does sound like the feminine form (Dessinatrice).

603 - Sublimation Sublimation is the superpower name of the Rooster, so the episode might be about Marc, but it could also be the name of the olympic themed Akumatized we can see in the S6 sneak peak that was going around. The audio said she is looking for people to be the better version of themselves. Sublime is a word to qualify high morals and esthetic qualities. Could also be a kid-friendly introduction to what Sublimation is in psychanalysis if it has any value left. Sublimation is about transforming impulses into more productive behaviors.

604 - Daddycop Most probably a nod to Rogercop. An episode about Sabrina's relation with her father perhaps? On a side note, the title reminds me of the Daddy Cool song.

605 - Papys Garous Papi (or Papy, both writting are accepted) is a casual and affectionate term for someone to talk about their grandfather. So Papa-Garou (Weredad) but also involving at least Marinette's grandfather. Because Papy is plural here. Does Tom consider himself to be an old man?

606 - Princesse Syren Ondine as Syren is getting an upgrade as well.

607 - El Toro de Piedra Sounds like Ivan will be involved in that one. After all, he has the Ox Miraculous and his akumatization was called Stoneheart. Although the Spanish is new. Perhaps the akumatized will be a relative of Ivan?

608 - Vampigami I think everyone's first thought was seeing Kagami as a Vampire. Is Kagami a fan of either Dracula or the Twilight series? Considering it is canon that she read romance mangas (Glaciator 2), I wouldn't be surprised for the latter. Still, we did have an episode before that did end with "gami" but wasn't about Kagami (Optigami which was a portmanteau of Optic and Origami).

609 - Monsieur Agreste This feels like a follow up to the Gabriel Agreste episode from S4. Is someone pretending to be Gabriel? Or could it be the Adrien's grandparents episode that was hinted by Gloob? Or is Argos involved?

610 - Le Château Noir I know the speculations are about that episode being around Chat Noir, but I am not sure it is a pun with Chat due to the word Château (Castle) keeping its accent. But you know which Medieval Akumatized we had before? Le Chevalier Noir (Dark Blade).

611 - Revelator Not much to go with there. We can expect the Akumatized is a guy and that there is a risk of revealing things. Although, we did have an episode called Revelation which featured Infox (Hoaxer), but I am not sure they could be related. Again, the title doesn't give much to work with.

612 - Psyconductrice A portmanteau of the words Psycho and Conductrice which could either be a female driver or a female conductor. However, ML Paris has turned a page on cars under Mayor Bustier, so it is probably more related to music or leading people.

613 - Yaksi Gozen Obviously, we think of Ikari Gozen and Matagi Gozen (Pretension). So Tomoe will be once again akumatized. I have looked for the name Yaksi and it looks like it is a sanskrit word. The wiki page I've found said they are similar to fairies or nymphs in the hindu culture. Although, I find the use of sanskrit special for Tomoe. As far as a remember, the only other sanskrit name we got was Mayura. So, could it be that either Nathalie or the Peacock Miraculous is involved in that episode as well?

614 - Couchorak Goldorak reference spotted! The other word in that name is Couche. Which actually have several meanings. It could notably be either a diaper, a layer or a bed.

615 - La Redresseuse As a francophone, all I am thinking about is "Dresseur Pokémon" (Pokémon Trainer) ^^; Anyway, something to do with training an animal or correcting bad behaviors. If Sublimation isn't the olympic themed akumatized, then this is my best second guess.

616 - Noe At first glance, all I am thinking about is a negative Zoé. Even though Noé (with an accent) is a boy's name (the French version of Noah). So maybe a new Bourgeois family member? Another possibility, since this is the French episode list is that Noe is a dimunitive for Noël, which is the French name of Nino's little brother.

617 - La Fée de Beaux Rêves Nice little pun there. The actual sentence is "Fais de beaux rêves" (Have Sweet Dreams) but with the word Fée instead of the verb. This seems to align with Pigella's power as well.

618 - Les Crassetastrophes Portmanteau of the words Crasse (filthy, dirty, scum) and Catastrophe (disaster). This one feels like it will be very smelly and disgusting. I wouldn't be surprised if this one is about pollution and if so, Polymouse will be involved.

619 - Riginarazione So, we got the words Rigid(?), Regina (either it is the Character name or the word Queen) combined with the word ration in Italian.

620 - Renverse-coeurs Reminds me of Dislocoeur which Dark Cupid's French name. So, we could theorized that Kim would be involved here.

621 - Les Titans Chaînes This one is giving me trouble. even in French because the name isn't a natural combination. It would be more normal to write it up as "Chaînes Titans" instead. "Chaînes" could be literally chains (in the sense of shackles) but in French, the word could also refers to a series of something. Like a mountain range, a production line or food chain, but also a channel (like a TV channel or Youtube channel). I do see the pun with the word "Enchaîne" in the title which either means to align or to shackle. Wasn't there an episode confirmed about influencers? This might be that one. Especially as Titans are not only huge figures, they even had a war in the greek mythology against the Olympian Gods (Titanomachy).

622 - Lady Chaos Honestly, your guess is as good as mine here. Because the ML verse counts a few Lady Something, like Lady Wifi or Lady Dragon, so this title doesn't mean it is about Ladybug directly, but it could be related to her as it is in opposition with what Ladybug does and represents.

623 - Tristanansi Nora is akumatized again and she will be sad this time around.

624 - La Reine de Frayeurville Spooky episode in perspective. Frayeur means Fright. So literally, the Queen of Frightville.

625 - Protocole Secret Feels more like a code name to a project than an akumatized name. My money this is Tomoe's plan.

626 - Nemesis Nothing to add besides that it sounds promising. I wonder what our new Butterfly Holder has in store in that one.

thinking about that rumor that we'd see some new grandparents, and how sick it would be if it were the GDVs. inviting them---nathalie, adrien, amelie, felix---to the estate.

imagining: adrien trying to make sense of who emilie was from her childhood bedroom, her effects, old pictures he's never seen, walking the grounds with felix.

but also nathalie touring the other parts of the estate with amelie. talking about the past. when emilie left the family, when she was disowned. the space of years amelie and emilie presumably didn't talk much. amelie showing her the ballroom and asks to dance but nathalie has trouble leading because emilie always led and they laugh about it. of course she did. she did that as a kid, too.

Adrien would have his back against the headboard of his bed, holding you so tight against his chest, practically forcing you to listen to his heart beat to help you calm down. He's owned those plushies with built-in pulses and they've always helped him calm down so he thought it would with you ! And you're right , he wouldn't say anything , too afraid of sayin' the wrong thing so he just quietly strokes your back , occasionally muttering quiet sentences like "I'm right here, it's alright, I'm not leaving."

Vallen definitely would start spoiling you immediately. It's a bit abrupt but after your tears dry up and you're no longer trembling , the first thing he's doing is booking out the whole restaurant just so you and him can talk about your problems in a cozy corner with a breathtaking view without the annoyance of other people. His spoiling isn't limited to fancy things either ! He values the thought that goes into presents rather than things worth a lot of money so he brings you to a spot where the fruits are the freshest and the older ladies are there to comfort you as well — Vallen thinks that food always tastes better when the aunties or grannies make them. He's definitely a grandparent's boy ! Once you and him sit down , enjoying your treats , he'll cup your face and whisper in the most velvety tone , "You're worth every penny and dime I spend, I wouldn't trade anything in the world for you, darling, remember that. You're my sweet boy"

Cole 100% would bundle you (and him) up into a warm burrito with his blankets, trying to be as close as possible to you. He's like those absurdly big puppies , licking kissing your face and everywhere he can. When he sees those tears he can't help but tear up too ! When you're sad he's sad. He kisses them all away , letting you hide in the comfort of his chest , holding your nape gently with his hand as he lets words spill out his mouth. Unlike Adrien , Cole can't seem to stop talking , he'll ramble about how you're the most special boy he's ever met , how you make him feel so good , and how he's always excited to see you. Once you're somewhat calmer, he'd offer you to ride with him, letting you take the lead as he sits behind you , arms draped around your waist as he tells you about all the old stories of the animals. "That's why Mary's got wool in the shape of a heart, she's the equivalent of cupid — but sheeps," They were all so outlandish, but you could tell he was just trying to make you giggle.

Callahan is definitely dumbfounded at first , he doesn't know what to do or how to react when he sees those tears dripping from your eyes. All he feels is an ache in his chest but his mind screams against comforting you. He was supposed to hate you , not want to console you , tell you everything is going to be okay. He awkwardly puts a hand on your shoulder, trying to come up with something to say before letting out a sigh, gently tugging you to lounge with him , putting on Mickey mouse as he sits there quietly , watching your face change from sad to a soft smile. He can't understand that fluttering feeling in his heart — maybe it's old age? "Did you know that mickey mouse's first words was hot dogs?" He'd grumble out of the blue. It was honestly concerning how much he knew about Mickey Mouse and other cartoons you binged with him ... he was just spewing out facts you never knew !

So after I’ve finished the Chloe comparison post, I do want to draw some more. But I’m not sure what to do, therefore I decided to let you choose what you want to see next:

Adrien, Tullia and Aurelia travel to Germany, where Adrien finds comfort and company with Lora in the latest chapter of The In-Laws and the Grandparents.

They approach the Shepard-Vakarian home; a brick house a few hundred metres from rows of grapevines. On the porch are both Lora and Garrus and Lora rushes over as soon as the shuttle lands, offering an arm to help him out of the shuttle. Had he not been travelling for the last day and a half, he could have managed on his own. But, exhausted from the journey, he’s moving slowly, his back aching and his legs unsteady. Lora wraps an arm around his back. “Lean on me,” she says, her voice thick with emotion he rarely hears from her and, startled, he looks at her face and notices her cheeks and eyes are both red. “I’d be crying if I had to spend time with me too,” he jokes and Lora giggles, gets up on the tips of her toes and kisses his cheek. “We’ve been worried about you and the rest of the family.”

So if Adrien were to get an antagonist like Marinette and Chloé (or Alya and Lila in your case), who would you pick?

For me, I would personally pick Félix since he and Adrien had some personal connection as family and it did felt like there was some potential for a possible rivalry between the two in his debut episode (before the writers screwed Félix’s character by a lot).

It really depends on what format I'm being forced into. Félix is like Lila: great in serialized content, terrible choice for episodic content.

If we're allowed to go the serialized route and have plots run for multiple episodes, then Félix could be a great rival. You'd need to do something to rework his character, though, because right now his motivations are really confusing. If we go with the senti stuff, then there's not much to base the rivalry on or even many plots you could do. Let's quickly pitch an alternate Félix to show you what I mean.

Félix and Adrien are the same age and we know that Emilie was the older twin, so maybe the boy's maternal grandparents are still alive and have yet to decide who to pass their fortune and titles on to: the traditional bloodline heir (Adrien) or the kid of the daughter who stuck around and followed tradition (Félix). This could be an interesting path if we give Félix all the same interests as Adrien. If they're constantly competing to be better and Félix is constantly sabotaging Adrien at big events.

For the sabotage to be clever, it would need to be set up in more than 20 minutes, otherwise Félix would just feel petty and opportunistic, which is the problem with Emotion. Félix just shows up and seems to go crazy because truly setting up his invasion of the Diamond Dance would have required him to have screen time across several episodes. That screen time could have been minor, but it was still needed. Maybe Ladybug and Chat Noir keep looking for Félix as a subplot, leading us to have multiple episodes end with a quick look at where Félix is and what he's doing.

While we're on the topic of canon changes, compare the family rivalry setup to canon and you hopefully see what I mean by lack of a motivation or even ways to show the rivalry off. What opportunities does canon Félix have to show how much better he is? He and Adrien seemingly have nothing in common apart from their looks, making it somewhat difficult to compare them. You need those common interests or big showoff moments for a rivalry to work. You also need to feel like Adrien is better than Félix and canon didn't do that. Félix is smarter and more of a go-getter than passive, gullible, naïve Adrien. Every encounter between the boys sees Félix win.

There's also not much to support a read that Adrien gets more love or attention. Amelie is doting. Gabriel and Nathalie are cold and distant. So why does canon Felix delight in tormenting Adrien? What is Felix's goal with things like trying to assault Ladybug or telling Adrien's friends that Adrien hates them? Even the season four final is really weird. Felix already snuck into Adrien's room. Why did he need to officially switch places with Adrien? Just dress up as Adrien, commit your theft, and go home, dude. That's way less complicated than agreeing to leave the country as your cousin. (So much of the season four final is written around forcing Ladybug to lose that it's actually kinda funny. So many things make no sense.)

When figuring out how to rework Félix, you also want to keep in mind what motivations are driving Marinette's antagonists. You don't want Félix to feel like a Lila or Chloe clone. You want him to bring diversity to the table. His motivations should be unique to him and his relationship to Adrien.

If we have to stick to the episodic format where character motivations and plots can be explained and resolved within 20 minutes, then I would not use Felix. Instead, I'd have some fun with how oblivious Adrien is and give him a bunch of "rivals" for Chloe's attention. To match our theme of diversity, while Marinette and her antagonists never get along, Adrien could have a string of rivals with each one ending the episode either no longer interested in Chloe because they realize she's a brat or still interested, but no longer hating Adrien because they realize he's a total non-threat. Less interesting than the Félix stuff, but potentially a funny running gag no matter which way you play it.
