Director Siddharth Anand Responds to 'Fighter' Controversy, Urges Audience to Watch Before Judging

The highly-anticipated film ‘Fighter’ finds itself amidst controversy as accusations of being ‘anti-Pakistan’ and jingoistic surface. Director Siddharth Anand has addressed the criticisms, encouraging viewers to reserve judgment until they have seen the entire film.

Scheduled for release on January 25, ‘Fighter’ features Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor in leading roles, marking India’s first ‘aerial action-drama’. While the film has garnered praise for its drama, action sequences, and emotional dialogues within India, it has faced backlash in Pakistan. Notable figures like Hania Aamir and Adnan Siddiqui have labeled ‘Fighter’ as ‘anti-Pakistan’.

In response to these allegations, Siddharth Anand spoke during a group interview, providing clarity on the film’s intent. He stated that ‘Fighter’ is based on a true incident, portraying factual events that are already in the public domain. Some things are just being taken out of context.” He urged viewers to watch the film before forming opinions, emphasizing that ‘Fighter’ stands against terrorism, not a specific country. “That’s what our film stands for, to fight against terrorism. We have emphasized the same through ‘Fighter’, and once you see it, you will understand.”

Jabir bin Abdullah رضیﷲ عنه said:

The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم was ill and we said prayer behind him and he was sitting. And Abu Bakr was making audible to the people his takbir. As he paid his attention towards us he saw us standing and (directed us to sit down) with a gesture. So we sat down and said our prayer with his prayer in a sitting posture. After uttering salutation he said: 

إِنْ كِدْتُمْ آنِفًِا لَتَفْعَلُونَ فِعْلَ فَارِسَ وَالرُّومِ يَقُومُونَ عَلَى مُلُوكِهِمْ وَهُمْ قُعُودٌ فَلاَ تَفْعَلُوا ائْتَمُّوا بِأَئِمَّتِكُمْ إِنْ صَلَّى قَائِمًا فَصَلُّوا قِيَامًا وَإِنْ صَلَّى قَاعِدًا فَصَلُّوا قُعُودًا.

You were at this time about to do an act like that of the Persians and the Romans. They stand before their kings while they sit, so don't do that; follow your Imams. If they say prayer standing, you should also do so, and if they say prayer sitting, you should also say prayer sitting.

 In the opening paragraphs of his many books, he gives his introduction in words like these “this book ‘Muhik ul Faqar’ is written by Faqeer Sultan Bahu (Rahmatu-Allahe Ta-aala Alaihe), son of (Hazrat) Bazaid Rahmatu-Allahe Ta-aala Alaihe, surname A’waan, the resident of the suburbs of the Qala Shor Kot”. The Clan of ‘A’waan’ is the descendants of Hazrat Qutub Shah Rahmatu-Allahe Ta-aala Alaihe.

 Family lineage of Hazrat Qutub Shah Rahmatu-Allahe Ta-aala Alaihe roots back to Emir ul Momineen Hazrat Ali Al Murtaza Bin Abi Taalib Karram Allah Wajhu through Hazrat Ameer Zubair Bin Khazan. It is quoted that Emir ul Momineen Hazrat Ali Al Murtaza Bin Abi Taalib Karram Allah Wajhu had eighteen sons: Sayyed Imam Hasan, Sayyed Imam Husain, Sayyed Mohsin, Ameer Abu Bakar, Ameer Umar, Ameer Usman, Ameen Ali, Ameer Sa’ad, Ameer Saeed, Ameer Taalib, Ameer Ibrahim, Ameer Aqeel, Ameer Zaid, Ameer Abbas, Ameer Talha, Ameer Abdullah, Ameer Zubair and Ameer Muhammad Hanfiya. In the book Fatawa Ghayasi, it has been mentioned that Maimna was the name of Zubair’s mother who was the progeny of Rustam (Champion) and ‘A’waan’ tribe are the desendants of Zubair.
