20. Alone, finally for Addison and Mark please 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you for sending this in!!!
Send me a number & I'll write a micro story.
20. Alone, finally
“We needed this,” Addison says, sliding her hand through her husband’s as they make their way through the theater lobby.
“No doubt there,” Mark agrees. “It’s been so long since I’ve been to the movies and seen something that wasn’t made by Disney.”
“Or been to a restaurant without a word jumble and maze on the back of the menu.”
“Where we have to explain to our son that no, you don’t need 3 slices of chocolate cake.”
Addison giggles. “Alone, finally.”
Mark pauses. “It’s not bad that we’re happy about this, right? That we’re having fun without him?”
Addison can’t help but smile, even when she sees the guilt crashing in on her husband’s face. She cradles his cheeks and rests her forehead against his.
“Babe, we spend all our time with Jackson. He’s our entire world, which is how it should be. But it’s okay for us to have a little alone time every once in a while. It doesn’t mean we don’t love him. It just means we also love each other enough to still make time for us.”
Mark gazes into her eyes for a few moments. “I do love you, Addison Forbes Montgomery,” he whispers. “You’re an amazing wife and mother…I don’t know how I’d have gotten through this year without you.”
“Good thing I’m not going anywhere.” She pecks his lips. “Now, c’mon. You promised me a popcorn bucket the size of my head.”
Mark grins. “Whatever you want, Red.”
They only get a couple of handfuls of popcorn in each. Within 5 minutes of the lights dimming and the coming attractions sprawling across the screen, both are snoozing in the reclining chairs at the back of the theater.

Ok but imagine this:
The allison and mark situation happens, so when derek finds out he tells reader (who is marks gf at the time) and they go to seattle amd fall in love and when allison and mark go there they see them being all in love.
This just spoke to me
Every rose has its thorn
Paring: Derek shepherd x Reader, Ex!Mark Sloan x Reader.
Summary: after Addison cheats on Derek and Mark cheats on the reader, both Derek and her go to Seattle. After they both got drunk and had sex one night the two relized the feeling they have for each other, by the time Mark and Addison come to Seattle Derek and the reader are dating and in love.

It sucks when your whole life gets turned upside down. A group of friends being torn apart because of an adulterous act. Derek had come home one night to see his wife Addison Montgomery in bed with his best friend Mark Sloan... Mark Sloan just happened to be the boyfriend of y/n L/n. Both Addison and Mark cheated on Derek and y/n. Ruining their relationships forever.
Y/n felt terrible, her heart ached. She felt like she should have seen it coming, she thought she should have seen the signals. She was mad and heartbroken when I found out Mark cheated on her with Addison. Most of all, she was angry at Addison for cheating on Derek. Derek was y/n’s best friend and seeing him that heartbroken hurt worse.
Derek hated both Addison and Mark. Not only did they ruin his relationship and marriage, but they also hurt y/n as well. Derek was so upset that he decided to leave town. He was tired of the lies from Addison and Mark. He just wanted to move on. He knew he couldn't if he stayed there. That's when he and y/n made the move to Seattle together.
~~~~~~~~(.......)~~~~~~~~
They both got drunk the first night they were in Seattle. Derek and her went to this small bar that was across the street from the hospital. Y/n never got drunk, she didn't like drinking but that's just how the night went. And too bad it took them being drunk to realize there was something between them.
Once they got drunk Derek started noticing things about her he had never noticed before. He started to see her in a new light. It made him see how beautiful she was. His feelings for her grew the more drunk they got.
“God I hate him” y/n rambled about Mark. “I wish I never fell in love with him”
Derek listened to everything y/n had to say. He hated that she loved a man like Mark. She deserved so much better. Derek couldn't wait to show her how much better he was for her…
“I hate her too” y/n sighed then looked over at Derek, there was just something there she hadn't noticed before. They always had some kinda connection, but always played it off as being best friend
She noticed his smile, his blue eyes. She always considered him a platonic soulmate, but maybe... Just maybe there was something more. Derek looked over at y/n. Her lips looked so soft. Her hair was perfectly curled. She stood out like a diamond, She was beautiful. Derek had never thought he would feel this way towards her. But as the night went on he realized there was something inside of him that was growing for her. He realized that he was falling in love with her. He had never felt this way before for anyone.
They both sat there wondering what would have happened if they chose each other instead of Mark and Addison. Derek always wondered what it would be like if y/n chose him over Mark. If y/n had chosen him, Addison would never have broken his heart. Would they have settled down with each other and had children? Had a family? The thoughts were racing through Derek's mind while he continued to stare at y/n. He wanted to make his move.
“Why are you looking at me like That?” she chuckled drunkenly.
Derek didn't realize that his lustful gaze was showing. He felt his cheeks burn red from embarrassment. He cleared his throat. “because your beautiful”
She blushed and looked away. “your just saying that”
Derek wanted her to know she was beautiful and he wasn't just saying that. He moved closer to her. “no. I mean it. You're so beautiful. I've never told you that before. But I'm gonna tell you now. You're gorgeous…”
She don't know what possessed her, but she placed her hand on his jaw and pressed her lips to his. Derek was absolutely shocked when y/n pressed her lips to his, that she had initiated it first. He pulled away, staring into her eyes. “Mark is stupid for letting something as amazing as you go” Derek whispered, he had been wanting this for so long. Derek immediately placed his hands on her hips and pulled her close to him. He kissed her with all the emotion and longing that had built up inside of him. He wanted her and he was going to get her.
Her lips parted and gently brushed her tongue against his lips, running her fingers through his hair
He kept kissing her deeply as he ran his hands up her torso, towards her neck. Derek couldn't wait to explore every inch of her.
Y/n slowly pulled away, resting her forehead against his as she tried to catch her breath and tried to focus my drunken mind. Now all logic was throwing away, she inched her face closer to his again, nudging her nose against his, hovering her lips over his. She couldn't get enough of the intoxicating scent of his cologne. Her eyes were fixed downward,watching his hands roam the outline of her body.
Derek's hands wrapped around her waist as he pulled her closer to him. They were both losing reason and logic. They were caught up in the moment. Derek felt their warmth building between them and it was turning him on, He wanted more. His hands wandered up her back now and they slowly ran through her hair. The smell of lavender wafted up to his nose and he was lost in her.
Before things could get too far, y/n pressed her hands to his chest, stopping him. “you wanna get out of here?”
Derek quickly nodded. “yeah, let's get out of here”
~~~~~~~~(.......)~~~~~~~~
As soon as they got back to the trailer, her lips were back on his, the kiss was messy and rushed. Y/n quickly pushed his jacket off his shoulders as he pushed her backwards towards the kitchen counter. She moaned against his lips, running her fingers through his hair. Getting them lost in his soft, perfect hair.
Derek was absolutely stunned by her boldness. This was the moment he had been longing for all this time. He was ecstatic that she was finally showing him this side of her. He threw his coat to the side with the rest of their stuff and began to kiss her with more passion. His hands roamed from her back down her body, giving her ass a squeeze. He was feeling her up the way he had wanted to since the moment he met her.
He couldn't help but want more. His hands squeezed her butt and his lips kept on exploring hers while he moved her back towards the bed. His body was pushed against hers and he leaned her back. There was no going back now. Y/n fell backwards on his bed, pulling him down with her. She moaned softly, tugging on his hair as his lips and the scruff on his jaw brushed against her neck.
Derek loved her reaction, the moans she let out were sending shivers down his spine. Her touch felt so good on him. Derek could feel her body pressing against his. He was enjoying her just as much as she was enjoying him. He wanted to kiss every inch of her. He finally had the chance to make her his and he wasn't going to let her slip away from him.
“D-derek” she moaned softly.
Derek loved how his name coming from her mouth sounded. Hearing her breathless voice gave him everything he needed to continue on with her. His hands ran up and down her body and his lips traveled across her neck and down to her shoulders. His mouth was finally exploring her body in ways that he had wished he could do for so long. His scruff was rough on her soft skin. His lips were gentle and tender. His touch was so hot and passionate. He loved the way she tasted and smelled, every inch of her was perfect to him.
They were running on nothing but alcohol, bottled up feelings, and passion. Their clothes were gone in seconds and they fell into each other's temptations.
--------(1st pov)--------
The next morning I woke up with a hangover, my head was pounding. I looked around and noticed I was in Derek's bed and not my own. I peaked under the covers and we were both naked. Derek was still asleep, I slowly sat up and grabbed his red shirt from last night and covered my bare chest with it. I sat there processing the whole night, I didn't feel regret or anything, but when something feels so good, how can it not be bad. “Derek, wake up” I said, nudging his naked shoulder.
Derek's eyes slowly opened and he sat up from the bed, stretching and yawning. He turned his head in my direction and he froze when he noticed his shirt covering my chest. His eyes grew wide, but there was a smirk on his face.
“So... Umm…” I looked down shyly. “we umm... Last night, didn't we?” I asked softly.
Derek laid on his back, smirking to himself. “yeah… Yeah we did”
I moved my messy hair out of my face. “we're no better than them,” I mumbled, thinking about Addison and Mark. They slept together, they were in the wrong, but what about us?.
Even if I was right or wrong, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief from last night. The bond we formed last night was undeniable. I had wanted him for so long and we finally had our chance. Mark and Addison may have won the battle, but there was this feeling that we were gonna win the war.
I fell backwards in the bed, laying on my back next to him. I rubbed my face processing everything. I didn't regret it one bit, but I wished it happened at a different time. “God... I just had sex with a married man” I mumbled, covering my face.
He rolled over on his side, facing me. He kissed my shoulder with a smirk on his face. “Separated... I'm not with Addison anymore” he kissed my cheek then looked at me with those pretty blue eyes. “and I gotta say... That was the best sex I ever had…”
I uncovered my face and turned my head towards him, smiling. “Dito”
Derek smiled. “Do you... umm... regret what we did last night?”
“No... Do you?” I asked softly.
Derek shook his head in a no. “I wanted to do that for so long.” he leaned forward and brushed his lips against mine for a soft loving kiss.
Derek pulled me close, kissing me deeply with no regrets between us. My heart fluttered as he kissed me passionately. This feeling was so new to me, but definitely wanted. His hands grabbed my hips and pulled me against his chest. The scruff on his jaw hitting my chin and cheeks. I smirked against his lips and placed my hand on his jaw, feeling the scruff that peppered his jaw. I pulled away from the kiss and rested my forehead against his, I rubbed my thumb over his cheek gently. “like this...” I mumbled, referring to his scruff. When he was with Addison he was always clean shaved. She liked it that way, I didn't matter if he wanted to let it grow.
“You like it?” his eyebrow raised with a smirk on his face.
“Yeah... It's sexy”
When he was with Addison he definitely shaved daily. But he was trying keep his scruff now. He liked the way he looked with a little bit of scruff now. He kissed my cheek slowly. “I'll keep it for you then” he smirked again.
I smiled, pulling him down for another kiss and slowly ran my fingers through his hair. I pulled away from the kiss gently. “we need to get ready for work...”
“yeah... First day” Derek chuckled and kissed my nose before climed out of bed.
~~~~~~~~(few months later)~~~~~~~~
I had to admit Seattle was just a better place to be than new York. No one knew us except Richard Webber, he still didn't know about our relationship and that was okay. As the months went by it was made clear that our firsr night here ment everything. We just fit too well together, even if that sounded cheesy. Being beat friends in the past nothing much changed except we were now kissing, cuddling, and having quickies in the shower.
Mark had tried to call me numerous of times, I hadn't awnsered once. I wasn't ready to talk to him, but I think I was ready to forgive him. I had moved on and was happy with Derek, so there was no reason to hate him. Addison is a different story. I couldn't believe it when she showed up in Seattle.
“Addison... what are you doing here?” Derek asked.
I couldn’t even looked Addison in the eyes. I kept my head down and my anger bottled up.
“you would have know if you had botherd to return any one of my phone calls” Addison turned to me. “or awnsered the phone when Mark calls”
“I have nothing to say to him” I said bitterly.
“of course not, your too busy screwing my husband” Addison shot back.
“that's rich” I snapped back. “you were too busy screwing my boyfriend”
Derek grabed my arm, rubbing it affectionately. He stared at Addison with betrayal and anger. “is there something you need? What are you doing here?”
Addison had a smug look on her face as she looked Derek up and down. I couldn't help but feel territorial, but at the same time insucre. I always thought Addison was prettier than me.
“your hair is different” Addison said, dodging the subject. She went to reach for his hair, but I pushed her hand away. Derek smirked slightly, but it disappeared and he turned back to Addison. “a lot of things are different”
“it's longer” Addison continued. “what's your problem?” I asked annoyed.
“what are you doing here?” Derek asked again.
“Relax, guys, I'm here for work. I'm helming the T.T.T.S. case you guys admitted last week. And after Richard's briefing...” Addison said, rolling her eyes.
“bullshit” I said. I didn't believe a word that came out of this woman's mouth. “I swear to God, if you brought Mark with you...”
“it's cute...” Addison started sarcastically. “That whole wide-eyed "ooh, he's a brain surgeon" act you have going on... It's sweet. Which is what you were going for, right? The anti-Addison”
I shook my head, staring daggers into her. She smirked like she had the upper hand now. I didn't know it was possible to love and hate someone so much. Addison was always like an older sister to me, I looked up to her and wanted to be like her. Not now she betrayed me... But in a sences I betrayed her too.
“let's go” Derek said in a hard tone and grabed my hand. I looked into Addison's eyes and showed her nothing but hurt as Derek pulled me away.
~~~~~~~~(.......)~~~~~~~~
“why is she back!?” I yelled at Derek.
“I don't know! Why are you yelling at me?” Derek snapped back as he paced back and forth in his trailer. I don't know why we were taking this out on each other, it hurt we resorted to this.
“I don't know!” I sighed and sat down on his bed, rubbing my face in frustration. I think we weren't yelling at each other, just yelling in general. We were both frustrated.
Derek sighed and gave me a gental expression. “you know her coming here means nothing, right?”
I looked up at him, I trusted him but I just had to ask. “nothing between us changes?”
His blue eyes stared into my soul. I loved his eyes, I could just drown in them. “nothing changes... Hell, I'll devorce her”
He held his hand out to me and I took it. “I promise” he said softly and knelt infront me where I was setting so we were eye level. “we're not gonna lose each other... Not again”
~~~~~~~~(.......)~~~~~~~~
Then Mark came back...
Unlike when Addison showed up, I was just hurt to see him. I hadn't thought about him since me and derek started dating, but when I saw his face all that hurt and betrayal came rushing back.
The first time he visited Seattle he was on the ground and thanks to Derek I was the one that had to stich him him up. Richard sent me and Mark to the ER and Richard was chewing Derek out for the punch. That's when Richard found out about Addison and Mark's affair.
“you look amazing” Mark said as I got out the supplies to stich up his cheek. I ignored him as I tried to keep my anger and disappointment bottled up.
I cleared my throat and placed a towel on his shoulder and tried to get a decent angle to stich his cheek.
“here” Mark mumbled and to my dismay he pulled me in between by my hips so I could be closer. “thats better” he smirked.
I sighed and dropped the tweezers. “you think your funny?”
“I think I'm adorable” he smirked. I rolled my eyes and stiched up the gash. I sighed using the technique mark taught me long ago.
“I missed you... I really do” he said as I placed a bandaged on. I tried to stay silent but Mark wasn't having it. “will you please say something?”
I slammed the tweezers on the tray with a loud clink then turned towrds Mark. “What do you want me to say? I don't want you here and and sure as hell don't want Addison here”
Mark looked down staying silent. “I'm sorry”
I rolled my eyes tired of his sorrys. I did miss him and hell I unfortunately still cared for him, but every time I looked at him all I can think of is him in bed with Addison.
I gulped and looked at him as I felt the tears form. “I'll see ya around Mark”
“bye...” he said barly above a whisper.
--------(3rd pov)--------
Mark and Addison from a far, confused on what they were seeing. They just couldn't understand how fast y/n and derek fell for each other. Addison scolded herself for not seeing the signs earlier, but when she looks back she could see the way Derek looked at y/n.
“Derek never looked at me the way he looks at here” Addison said in a monotone voice.
Mark crossed his arms, staring at the new couple. He feeling so many different things it confused him. He wanted to fix his friendship with Derek, but everytime he saw his arm around y/n he just wanted to break it. Then on the other hand his heart broke seeing y/n smile and derek and not him, but he loved her enough to feel some sorta relief he didn't totally break her and she was happy.
“y/n looked at me like that... Every day we we're together” Mark said. “and I screwed it up big time”
Addison glanced at him, part of her felt fear Mark regreted being with her. It ment she lost two men she loved. She felt selfish for feeling like that, not only did she lose a husband she lost her closest female friend. This whole situation was a mess and she knew it.
Mark glanced at her, his blue eyes showing nothing but pain. “if I could turn back time I would in a heart beat”
Mark still loved her, but he loved her enough to let her go. At least he knew he could trust Derek not to hurt her. “let go of your pride addie, if you think Derek will leave n/n your crazy”
Addison raised an eyebrow at him, like she thought he was some kinda hypocrite. “well, y/n isn't leaving Derek for you”
“yeah... And I just need to learn to deal with that” Mark sighed, giving y/n and derek one last glance before leaving.
a/n: I'm taking requests, so feel free to send me some :) summary: Y/N is a new attending at Grey Sloan Memorial. Carina has her eyes on Y/N since the moment she met her. pairing: Carina DeLuca x female reader warnings: none word count: 1.4K
Elevator Effect - Carina DeLuca
Y/N adjusted her jacket as the elevator doors slid open, revealing a nearly empty car save for one person leaning casually against the railing. The woman was stunning. Her dark hair cascaded over her shoulders, her almond-shaped eyes sparkling with curiosity as they landed on Y/N. She looked up from her phone and smiled, an expression that seemed almost too charming for its own good.
Y/N stepped into the elevator, pressing the button for her floor. Her first day at Grey Sloan Memorial had officially begun, and she decided to ease into it in her usual style: arriving in regular clothes before changing into her scrubs. She figured it would give her a chance to observe the environment without immediately standing out.
The silence in the elevator was brief.
"Buongiorno," the woman greeted, her voice as smooth as silk, laced with an Italian accent that could make anyone weak in the knees.
Y/N turned to her, quirking an eyebrow. "Good morning."
The woman tilted her head, her smile widening. "Not a doctor, I take it?" she asked, her gaze sweeping over Y/N’s outfit, a casual shirt, jeans, and sneakers. "Or are we experimenting with a new dress code?"
Y/N fought the urge to smirk. "Not a doctor," she said, technically not lying. Not yet, anyway.
The woman leaned in slightly, her curiosity evidently piqued. "Well, let me guess. A visitor? No, no, you seem too comfortable for that. Here for a meeting with the Chief?"
Y/N shrugged, letting her enjoy the guessing game. "Something like that."
Her companion chuckled, a sound that was somehow both mischievous and endearing. "I’m Carina, by the way. Carina DeLuca. And you are?"
"Y/N," she replied simply, keeping her tone neutral.
"Y/N…" Carina repeated, savoring the name. She studied Y/N with a smoldering gaze that could rival a summer heatwave. "Let me give you a warning, Y/N. If you wander into Grey Sloan looking like that, some people might forget how to do their jobs."
Y/N raised her eyebrows, a hint of amusement dancing in her eyes. "Oh, really?"
"Oh, sì," Carina said, taking a step closer. Her voice dropped lower, more intimate. "You’re… bellissima. Stunning. I’m already distracted, and I’ve only known you for two minutes."
Y/N’s lips twitched. "Is this how you greet everyone in the elevator?"
"Only the ones who make me want to press the emergency stop button," Carina teased, her eyes sparkling.
Y/N decided to play along. "That bold, huh?"
Carina smiled, her voice dripping with charm. "Life is too short for hesitation. Don’t you agree?"
The elevator dinged, signaling their arrival at the appropriate floor. Carina looked as though she had more to say, but Y/N stepped out first, giving her a knowing glance over her shoulder. "See you around, Carina."
Later that morning, Y/N stood beside Dr. Bailey in the conference room as a group of doctors filtered in. She had already changed into her scrubs, the name embroidered on her coat marking her position as the new attending in OB/GYN.
Carina walked in last, her gaze scanning the room before landing on Y/N. For a moment, her expression faltered, a flash of recognition lighting her face. Y/N offered her a subtle, knowing smile.
"Everyone, this is Dr. Y/N Y/L/N," Bailey announced. "She’s our new OB/GYN attending, joining us from Chicago. I expect you all to make her feel welcome."
Carina’s jaw dropped slightly, and her cheeks flushed. "You're… a doctor?" she asked Y/N after her short introduction was over, disbelief clear in her voice.
Y/N turned to her, feigning innocence. "Oh, I did forget to mention that earlier."
Carina blinked, clearly scrambling to recover. "You are very sneaky, Dr. Y/L/N."
Y/N leaned in just slightly, her voice quiet enough that only Carina could hear. "Life is too short for hesitation, right?"
Carina exhaled a laugh, shaking her head in disbelief. "Touché."
Throughout the rest of the meeting, Carina found herself stealing glances at Y/N, clearly intrigued. Afterward, she caught up to her in the hallway.
"Non posso credere che non me l'hai detto."
Y/N tilted her head, pretending to be clueless. "I don’t speak Italian."
Carina smirked, leaning closer. "Then I guess I’ll have to teach you. Maybe over dinner?"
Y/N smirked. "I will think about your offer."
And with that, she left the Italian alone in her own disbelief.
The day was only halfway through, and Carina was already proving to be delightfully persistent. After their hallway banter, Y/N had managed to slip away to her office, but it wasn’t long before she encountered Carina again during a consult.
The patient had been referred to Y/N for a prenatal concern, and Carina, as the head of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine department, had been called in as well. Y/N was standing at the patient’s bedside when Carina walked in, clipboard in hand and a sly smile already forming on her lips.
“Dr. Y/L/N,” Carina greeted, her tone professional but her eyes sparkling with mischief. “How lovely to see you again. Twice in one day. I must be lucky.”
Y/N didn’t miss a beat. “You could say the same about me. I get to work with Seattle’s finest.”
Carina tilted her head, a mock expression of thoughtfulness crossing her face. “Seattle’s finest? Are you referring to me, or have you been meeting other doctors behind my back already?”
Y/N smirked, not giving Carina the satisfaction of an answer. She turned her attention to the patient instead, maintaining her composure while Carina lingered just a little closer than necessary.
Later, during lunch in the hospital cafeteria, Y/N found herself seated alone, flipping through a stack of files. She was mid-bite when Carina appeared out of nowhere, sliding into the seat across from her with a tray of her own.
“Working through lunch?” Carina asked, her voice warm as she unwrapped a sandwich. “I hope that doesn’t mean you’re too busy for me.”
Y/N set her file down, arching an eyebrow. “Depends. What’s the occasion?”
Carina grinned, leaning forward. “I figured I’d take the opportunity to learn more about the mysterious new attending. It’s only fair, considering how much you’ve kept me in the dark today.”
“Oh?” Y/N replied, feigning nonchalance. “What do you want to know?”
“Everything,” Carina said, her voice dropping into a flirtatious purr. “What brought you to Grey Sloan? How do you like your coffee? What’s your favorite color? And most importantly, how do you feel about Italian food?”
Y/N couldn’t help but laugh. “That’s quite the list.”
“Start with the last one,” Carina said, her eyes narrowing playfully. “Because if you don’t like Italian food, I may have to rethink my strategy.”
“Your strategy?” Y/N echoed, clearly amused.
Carina gestured between them. “This. Us. Getting to know each other. Winning you over.”
Y/N leaned back in her chair, crossing her arms as she studied Carina. “You’re pretty confident, aren’t you?”
“Sì,” Carina admitted shamelessly. “But only because I know when something is worth the effort.”
Y/N’s cheeks warmed slightly at the intensity of Carina’s gaze. “For the record, I love Italian food,” she said. “But if you want to win me over, you’ll have to try harder than a lunch table interrogation and mentioning pasta and pizza.”
Carina rolled her eyes but she was most definitely up for the challenge. “Oh, don’t worry, cara mia. I plan to.”
By mid-afternoon, Carina was proving to be as good as her word. Y/N found herself in the supply closet, searching for a specific set of surgical tools, when Carina appeared in the doorway.
“Are you following me?” Y/N asked, glancing over her shoulder.
“Not intentionally,” Carina replied, stepping inside as though she owned the place. “But I’m starting to think fate might be pushing us together.”
Y/N shook her head, biting back a smile. “This is the supply closet, Carina. Hardly romantic.”
Carina stepped closer, her voice dropping to a low murmur. “You’d be surprised how creative I can be.”
Y/N turned to face her, holding a tray of instruments as a makeshift barrier. “Is this how you woo all the doctors?”
“Not doctors. Not plural. Only you. You wear scrubs better than I do, I have to try my luck.” Carina said, her eyes sparkling with amusement.
Y/N chuckled, brushing past her to exit the closet. As she walked away, she glanced back over her shoulder. “You’ll have to try harder than that, Dr. DeLuca.”
Carina called after her. “La prossima volta ti sorprenderò.”
Y/N didn’t understand the words, but she understood the promise in Carina’s tone and she couldn’t wait to see how far the Italian doctor would take this game.
Operating Rooms…
Pairing: Addison Montgomery x preg!wife!reader
Summary: jumps around but reader is pregnant and due date is approaching fast, a few scares have Addison on the edge as she can’t imagine losing her wife or her baby. Also part of this is a rewrite of the episode where Derek throws up in the OR with Lexi.
Warnings: mention of miscarriage, blood, vomiting.
Tumblr media
******************************************************** "Suction, There's to much blood in the field." you said as you and Derek operated on the patient.
"We're losing him!, ugh I should've just cut the cord, this is way to risky."
"Derek, just stay calm." you said, you were standing over your patient multiple hours into am exhaustive tumor removal. It was taking a toll on both of you, spending hours on you feet was hard enough but being 7 months pregnant made it even harder, you're muscles were starting to lock up as you fought the fatigue, your body was absolutely exhausted.
"Wait. It's back, He's coming back up." Mark said.
you could hear Lexie ask a question but you were zoning out as relief that flooded your body quickly turned into worry, you felt pain but not muscle pain, something was different, something was wrong.
"Dr. Shepard?"
"My mask..."
"What?"
"His mask, take it off" "Take off my mask, Take off my mask!"
you both yelled in unison, as you quickly realized that something was wrong. she quickly moved his mask as he bent over and threw up on the OR floor. you looked away turning into your arm, Mark saw your reaction looking you over.
"Y/N?" Mark said watching you as you turned to make eye contact with him.
"Dr. Montgomery, y-you're bleeding." Lexi said eyes getting wide with worry. In the midst of everything you forgot about yourself, quickly looking down to see a small stream of red darkening your scrubs, you're hands still inside the patient.
"Someone page Dr. Montgomery, NOW!" yelled Mark before rushing over to you.
"Lexi check on Derek, we need to keep this patient alive." He commanded, within minutes doctors filled the room, Meredith and Callie rushed to help Derek as Addison rushed to your side. As soon as your hands were out Mark scooped you up and rushed you out onto a gurney to get you to OB.
"Addison?"
"Right here Y/N, I'm right here."
"I'm scared..."
"I know, but we have the best." you squeezed her hand as they rushed you down the hall, as soon as you got there Arizona was waiting with monitors. "Okay mama, Let's figure out what's going on."
a few hours later you were in a hospital bed, Addison was next to you as Arizona walked in, "How're we feeling?"
"A little nervous, what's going on?"
"Well it looks like you have a case of what we call incompetent cervix, baby was pushing on your cervix and with the stress you were putting your body through, it cause your cervix to slightly dilate."
"Which caused your bleeding." Addison finished.
"And the baby?"
"The baby is okay, we gave you a slight dose of something to hopefully prevent labor, and we'll keep you overnight... and if it worsens then we can stitch the cervix closed until you go into labor."
---------------------------------------------------------
1 month later and you were back in action, saving lives, performing surgeries. Addison and Arizona had been keep an extremely close eye on you, monitoring work load and the baby.
That is until you found yourself in a very high-stakes trauma situation, the emergency room was flooded after a multi-vehicle pileup on the highway, and the trauma team was operating at full throttle.
“Dr. Montgomery, patient coming in with a chest wound—GSW to the aorta!” one of the paramedics called out as they wheeled a gurney toward you. The patient’s vitals were dropping fast, and her skin was pale.
You didn’t think twice. Despite the bulk of your 8 month pregnant belly, you climbed onto the moving gurney, ignoring the gasps of the staff around you. Your hand plunged into the patient’s chest cavity, fingers finding the torn artery.
“Clamp!” You shouted as a nurse handed you a clamp, “Someone prep an OR now!”
The gurney rushed down the hallway, the patient’s life quite literally in your hands. You barked orders, ignoring the discomfort in your lower back and the occasional tightening across your belly.
Once inside the OR, people were very cautiously and efficiently moving around the room, nobody dared get in your way as you operated. The nurses looking ant you with looks of admiration and concern as you moved the patient to the table, your hand still securely clamping the bleeding artery. You very efficiently let your scrub nurse gown you the best she could, just as you saw movement in your gallery.
"Dr. Montgomery, How're we doing?" you heard chief Webber's voice over the intercom. He had been showing some prospective attendings, and the board around and they decided that watching your surgery was intriguing so you had to put on your best show for them.
"Getting there, How's my ED looking?"
"Clearing out as we speak."
"Good, I'm going to need Dr. Torres and Dr. Sloan in here to help with this repair."
"Paging them now." he said before exiting the gallery.
“You’re ridiculous, you know that?” Callie muttered as she finally scrubbed in, walking to the other side of the table.
“Save it for later, Torres,” you shot back, sweat beading on your brow. “Right now, this patient needs me.”
But Callie’s sharp eyes didn’t miss the way your jaw clenched or how your breaths seemed shorter than usual. She stepped closer, her voice low.
“Are you feeling okay? Because if you’re not, you need to tell me now.”
“I’m fine,” you replied firmly, though the pain rolling through your body told a different story.
Before Callie could argue, the door burst open, and Mark Sloan stormed in, quickly letting the nurse gown him before he came to your side.
“What the hell are you doing?” he demanded, eyes darting from your swollen belly to the blood-streaked patient on the table. “Addison is going to kill me if she finds out you’re in here doing this.”
“Then don’t tell her,” you said, not looking up from your work. “I’m the only one preventing this patient from bleeding out.”
Mark groaned, running a hand through his hair. “This is insane. You’re literally eight months pregnant. You shouldn’t even be in the ER, let alone elbow-deep in someone’s chest.”
“Mark,” you said through gritted teeth, “I paged you to assist in saving a life, so either shut up and assist or get out of my OR.”
———a few moments later———
Callie stood across from you and Mark next to you being your extra set of hands, after a particularly strong contraction he whispered in you ear, "you okay, we don't need another scare."
"I know, I know..." you whispered back, before returning to the task at hand. 15 more minutes went by, this time you carefully leaned back a wince on your face.
"Y/N, we okay over there?" Callie asked as you readjusted.
"I think so." you shifted around.
"Look if you need to tap out..." Mark started.
"Mark..." you looked at him with your intimidating 'don't start' look, before shifting uncomfortably again.
Callie glanced at Mark, then back at you. Her lips tightened. She had been silently counting the intervals between the grimaces that crossed your face. Finally, she broke.
“You’re in labor,” she said flatly.
Your hands paused for a fraction of a second before resuming. “I am not.”
Mark’s head whipped around. “You’re what?” He hissed.
“She’s in labor,” Callie repeated, her tone almost bored and dripping with her signature sass. “And she’s being stubborn as hell.”
“I’m not in labor!” you snapped, though the next contraction almost knocked the breath out of you. You gripped the surgical tools tighter, focusing on the artery beneath your fingertips.
"Y/N." she said sternly, a stare-down happening as you were both stubborn.
“That’s it,” Mark stepped back and move for his pager. “I’m paging Addison.”
“Don’t you dare!” you growled.
“Fine,” Callie said, her gaze narrowing. “Then I’m paging Arizona.”
You groaned, your eyes flicked up to the gallery of oblivious spectators before going back to Callie’s "Okay, page Arizona... but don't cause a scene..."
She slowly nodded in response, "Can someone page my wife please." Callie said, a nurse quickly going to page Arizona, minutes later she walked in.
"You paged?" she asked, her gaze flicking between you and Callie.
"Yea," she said and motioned to you. Arizona stepped in next to you, "Y/N, you okay?" she said gently, watching the glance exchange between you and Callie.
“She’s in labor,” Callie said.
“I’m not—”
Arizona stepped closer, her hands ghosting over your rounded belly. She didn’t need an ultrasound to confirm; the tell tale signs of your uterus contracting under her palms told her everything she needed to know.
“You’re in labor,” Arizona said softly, her tone leaving no room for argument.
“Great, now everyone’s ganging up on me,” you muttered.
“(Y/N), you need to leave the OR,” Arizona urged. “You’re risking your health and the baby’s.”
“If I move an inch,” you said sharply, “this artery will tear, and this patient will bleed out... we have a lot riding on this surgery and they're all up in that room watching."
Another contraction hit, and your breath caught. Mark stepped in front of you, shielding your pained expression from the gallery where Dr. Webber and a group of investors were watching.
"Okay so we have two options, you leave and let someone else take over..."
"nope."
"Or I can discreetly hook you up to some monitors and monitor baby from right here next to you, but once your contractions get to close I'm pulling you."
Callie spoke up agreeing with Arizona. “Page Bailey and Kepner to scrub in. Arizona, you’re getting her out of here the second they arrive.”
“I’m not leaving,” you protested, though your voice wavered.
“Yes, you are,” Arizona said firmly. She met your eyes, her expression softening. “You’ve done enough. Let us handle it now.”
you looked between her and Callie your resolve finally giving in, "Okay, whatever we have to do, just don't let them see and do not page my wife just yet." you said leaning your head to point at the others in the gallery.
Arizona quickly devised a plan, Webber distracted the investors with a quick tour of the other galleries, before a few intrigued returned, Arizona quickly attached monitors to your belly allowing her to discreetly monitor the baby and your contractions. Mark stood shielding your occasionally distressed form from peering eyes, Callie covering by having the nurses rotate to distract.
20 minutes later and your contractions were drawing closer, Arizona sat behind a monitor with Ben as he monitored the anesthesia, she carefully watched the monitors whispering soft encouragement as you fought through the contractions. Minutes later the investors exited to continue their tours and Callie paged Bailey who quickly rushed to the rescue, repairing the damage so you could pull your hand out, Arizona came to your side unhooking the monitors and following you out of the room.
you entered the scrub room your hand shot out, grasping the edge of the sink as you doubled over slightly, the sharp pain momentarily stealing your breath. Arizona was at your side in an instant, one hand firm on your lower back, the other coming to rest protectively over the curve of your belly.
“Breathe,” she said gently but firmly, her tone the picture of calm. “In through your nose, out through your mouth. Come on, you know the drill.”
You focused on her voice, grounding yourself as you exhaled slowly, the contraction ebbing like a receding tide. Just as you straightened, you felt it—a sudden warmth, unmistakable and unstoppable, pooling down your legs and soaking into your scrubs.
You froze.
“Arizona…” you started, your voice barely above a whisper.
“I see it,” she said quickly, already assessing the situation. Her gaze dropped to the dark stain spreading across your thighs, soaking your navy blue scrubs. “Your water just broke.”
“Shit…”
"Okay mama, I think it's time to go," Arizona said rubbing her hand firmly into your back to try and relieve the clenched muscles.
“that might be best," you trailed.
She caught your arm before you could take another step. “We need to get you to a delivery room. Now.”
"Okay let's do this, and please, page my wife."
"Let's get you out of here first." she said guiding you out of the door.
“No wheelchair…” you said straightening and shaking your head.
“You can’t be serious right now?” She asked looking at you like you were being delusional.
“If I can still walk I will walk, no way I’m losing any dignity by being wheeled around and alerting the whole hospital.” You said sternly.
“God you’re stubborn…” she muttered, “Fine,” she relented, “but we’re moving, and I’m not letting go of you for one second.”
True to her word, she kept a steadying hand on your elbow as she guided you discreetly through the halls. By the time you reached the delivery room, your scrubs felt heavy and uncomfortable, and the tightening in your belly was coming faster.
--- time jump---
Once inside, Arizona helped you onto the bed, but you were up again moments later, pacing the room with stubborn determination.
“I could’ve finished that surgery,” you muttered under your breath, wincing as another contraction hit.
Arizona chuckled as she snapped on gloves to check your dilation. “Not a chance. Your water broke, and you’re definitely in labor. There was no way you were going to last another minute in that OR, and you know it.”
You rolled your eyes but could suppress your smirk, “I was saving a life.”
“And now you’re saving two lives,” Arizona counted with a grin gesturing to you and your baby bump as you groaned.
Time blurred as you labored, the room dimly lit, the hum of the monitors blending with the sound of your breathing. You leaned against the bed, trying to find relief, you heard the door latch engage and swing open stark white light flooding the dimly lit room, outlining an unmistakable silhouette that you knew well, your wide: Addison Forbes-Montgomery.
Her strawberry-blonde hair framed her face, her striking features shadowed but no less piercing. Her eyes raked over you, taking in the curve of your swollen belly, the sweat on your brow, the strength in your posture despite the pain contorting your face. Her expression was a complicated mixture of relief, pride, and exasperation.
“Addison,” you breathed, extending a hand toward her. She quickly made her way to your side, the door clicking closed behind her, returning the room to its soothing calmness.
"Y/N Forbes-Montgomery, I cannot believe you."
"what did I do?" you softly whispered.
"Eight months pregnant and jumping on a gurney to perform a trauma surgery? Operating while in labor? Are you insane?"
"so you heard about that," you chuckled, "whoo..." you left out a small breath as another contraction started.
"Of course I heard about it, I'm your wife, someone's got to watch out for you."
You grimaced, both from her scolding and another contraction. “I was saving a life.”
“You could’ve endangered two,” she snapped, though her tone softened almost immediately as she saw the flicker of fear in your eyes.
“Hey,” she murmured, her free hand coming to rest on your cheek.
Tears burned in your eyes as you confessed, “Addie I’m scared… it’s to early, what if something goes wrong?”
“It’s okay. You’re okay. The baby’s okay, it’s not too early. We’ve got this. You’re strong, and our baby is strong.” She leaned in, pressing a kiss to your damp forehead. “I’ve never been prouder of you.”
The delivery room fell into a peaceful quiet, save for the sound of your breathing and the rhythmic beeping of the monitors. Addison stayed close, sitting on the edge of your bed with one hand clasped over yours and the other resting gently on your knee.
She smiled softly, her strawberry-blonde hair falling loose around her face as she leaned in.
“So…about your little gurney stunt,” she said, her voice tinged with amusement.
You huffed, a flicker of a smile tugging at your lips despite the building pressure in your abdomen. “It wasn’t a stunt. It was a save,” you shot back.
Addison chuckled, shaking her head. “A save, huh? Eight months pregnant, elbow-deep in someone’s chest cavity, mid-contraction. Honestly, I expect nothing less from the badass trauma surgeon I married.”
You smirked through a groan as another contraction began to build. “You knew what you signed up for, Dr. Montgomery.”
Her laughter softened as she reached out, her fingers brushing over your jawline before gently lifting your chin.
“Yeah,” she said softly, her gaze locking with yours, “but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t scared.”
Her blue eyes searched yours, and her voice wavered slightly as she continued. “Hearing you jumped on that gurney and then finding out you were in labor—” She paused, swallowing hard. “You’re incredible, but I don’t ever want to feel that kind of fear again.”
“I’m sorry,” you said a tear of frustration and exhaustion slipping down your cheek, “I can’t live with it if something happens to our baby.”
“Nothing is going to happen,” she said reaching up and brushing away your tears with her thumb, “you’ve got me, Arizona, Callie and everyone here, no one is going to let anything happen to you or this baby. I promise.”
She smiled softly at you as you grimaced through another intense contraction, your eyes closed and head falling back. After a few moments you looked back up at her nodding slowly before taking in a shaky breath, “Can you check me?”
“What?” Addison blinked pulling back slightly.
“Check me,” you repeated, your green eyes meeting hers. “I need you to. I need to know. Please.”
“Sweetheart, I’m your wife, not your doctor—”
“Addison, please.”
Her resolve wavered as she looked at you, the vulnerability in your expression breaking down her hesitation. “Okay,” she said softly, standing to grab gloves from the nearby tray.
You shifted, turning to face her as she knelt in front of you. “Tell me if it’s too uncomfortable,” she murmured, her tone now purely professional but still tinged with concern.
You nodded, gripping the sheets tightly as she carefully checked your dilation. A moment later, her eyes flicked up to meet yours, “You’re at eight centimeters.”
You groaned in frustration as the door swung open, and Arizona and Callie stepped in. Arizona immediately crossed to the monitors, her keen eyes scanning the data, while Callie leaned against the wall with a casual grin.
“How’s she doing?” Arizona asked, her gaze darting between you and Addison.
“She’s at eight centimeters,” Addison replied, pulling off her gloves.
Arizona raised an eyebrow. “She was already at seven when I checked earlier. This baby is not waiting.”
Addison shot you a look, her protective instincts kicking in. “You’ve been in transition this whole time?”
You groaned as another contraction surged through you, muttering through gritted teeth, “Feels like it.”
As the contraction passed, you leaned back against the bed, catching your breath. “How’s the patient from earlier?” you asked, your voice still slightly strained.
Callie grinned, pushing off the wall to step closer. “Alive, thanks to you. After you left, Bailey and Kepner finished closing her up and got her to the ICU. I figured I’d leave them to it so I could come check on you.”
“Nice to see my little stunt paid off…” you smirked tiredly glancing at a playfully scowling Addison.
“I am still not happy with you, Y/N Montgomery,” she glared at you, “and don’t you go encouraging her heroics,” Addison turned to look at Callie who threw her hands up in mock defense.
”Don’t worry, I told her she was being stubborn and insane… but less focusing on that and more focusing on you getting that baby out.”
“Easier said than done.” you muttered, gripping Addison’s hand tightly as another contraction took over.
The contraction hit like a freight train, and this time, it felt like your body was taking over entirely. Your grip on Addison’s hand tightened, your knuckles white as you gasped for breath. The pain was blinding, and your legs trembled beneath the strain.
“Breathe, sweetheart,” Addison coached, her voice firm but calm.
“I am breathing!” you snapped through gritted teeth, though your words lacked bite as another groan escaped you.
Callie smirked from the side of the room, arms crossed. “Still snarky. That’s a good sign.”
“Callie,” Addison warned, her voice sharp, though she couldn’t hide her smirk.
When the contraction finally ebbed, you sagged back against the bed, your head tilting to meet Addison’s gaze. “This sucks,” you muttered, as she wiped at the sweaty hair sticking to your forehead.
Arizona stepped forward, a reassuring presence as she gently touched your arm. “It does. But you’re handling it like a champ.”
“I don’t feel like a champ,” you groaned,.“I feel like I’m being ripped in half.”
Addison, pressed a kiss to your temple, “You’re strong,” she said quietly. “And you’re so close. You’ve been through worse than this.”
You scoffed, managing a small laugh through the pain. “Yeah, but none of those involved pushing out a whole person.”
Before anyone could respond, another contraction ripped through you, this one stronger than the last. Your body tensed, and a sharp cry escaped your lips. Addison immediately leaned closer, her hands steady on yours as she helped you focus on her voice.
“Breathe in,” she guided. “And out. That’s it. Stay with me, sweetheart.”
When the wave finally passed, your head fell back against the bed, tears streaking your cheeks.
Arizona’s voice broke through the moment. “Okay, I think we’re getting there. How are you feeling?”
You groaned. “Like I’m ready to be done.”
“Well,” Arizona stepped closer to check your progress, her brow furrowing as she examined you. “You’re at nine and a half centimeters,” she announced. “Almost there.”
“This feels never ending,” you groaned. “God will it ever end… and I swear to God if anyone says anything, or if I hear about any betting pools that Mark started, I will murder someone.”
Addison’s eyes softened as she looked at you, her thumb brushing across your knuckles. “Let’s just focus on one thing at a time. Right now, all we’re worried about is meeting our baby.”
You nodded, the tears pooling in your eyes again as you whispered, “I just want her to be okay.”
“She will be,” Addison said, her voice steady and sure. “We’re going to meet her, and she’s going to be perfect.”
———time jump———
The room feels both chaotic and silent, the air thick with anticipation as you pace back and forth, your hands pressing against your lower back in frustration. Every contraction feels like it’s pulling you apart, but you refuse to give in to the demands of your body—or to the suggestions of everyone else in the room.
“Would you please sit down or lay down?” Arizona finally pleads, standing off to the side with Callie.
You shoot her a glare, your lips curling into a snarky retort. “Sure, Robbins. I’ll lay down the second you deliver this baby for me. Oh wait, you can’t.”
Callie snorts, trying to hide her laugh behind her hand. Addison, standing a few feet away with her arms crossed, watches you carefully, her concerned gaze trailing your every move.
“Pacing helps,” you snap again, preempting their protests. “And don’t tell me to breathe—I am breathing, thank you very much. Breathing doesn’t make this baby come out any faster.”
Arizona, leaning casually against the counter, smirks. “It might not make her come out faster, but it’ll keep you from passing out.”
“I’m a world class trauma surgeon, I can a few simple breathing techniques.”
Arizona throws her hands up in surrender while Callie whispers to Addison, “She’s terrifying when she’s in labor.”
“I heard that,” you mutter, rolling your eyes as you stop in your tracks, gripping the back of the bed as another contraction ripples through you.
“You’re almost there,” Addison murmurs softly, stepping closer to you.
“Almost where? The fiery pits of hell? Because that’s exactly what this feels like.” You huff, glaring at her even as you lean into her steadying touch. Addison chuckles softly as you lean into her, wrapping her arms around you as your head falls against her shoulder and you sway gently. “You’re snarky when you’re in pain.”
“Oh, you noticed?” you snap, shooting her a look. “Tell you what, next time you can be the one hauling around an entire human being in your body while everyone insists on telling you what to do.”
Addison raises an eyebrow but doesn’t respond, her eyes filled with love and amusement despite your tone.
Before anyone can respond, you swaying comes to an abrupt halt, one of your hands leaves your bump to grasp Addison arm as a wave of intense pressure washes over you. Your forehead falls against her neck, your breathing uneven.
“It’s time, I need to push,” your voice breaking, the weight of the statement hanging in the air.
Addison’s arms wrap around you instantly, her voice soft but steady. “Okay, sweetheart. Let’s see where you’re at.”
Arizona quickly steps forward, gently guiding Addison aside for a moment to check your dilation. After a few seconds, she looks up with a small, reassuring smile. “You’re at 10 centimeters. It’s time.”
You let out a shaky sigh, muttering, “Thank God,” before groaning at the intensity of another contraction.
Addison chuckles, brushing a strand of hair from your face. “You’ve got this, love. Let’s get you to the bed so we can meet our little girl.”
Reluctantly, you let Addison guide you back to the bed, every movement careful and deliberate as the pressure builds. As Callie returns with two nurses, you let out a small sigh of relief seeing familiar faces. The familiar faces are a relief, their calm demeanor giving you some semblance of control as they set up around you.
Addison leans you forward to crawl in the bed behind you, she leaned you back into her a leg on either side supporting you as you held onto her knee, your other hand in hers, her spare hand wiped sweaty hair from your forehead as you leaned your temple against her face.
Arizona takes her position at the foot of the bed, her hands steady and her demeanor calm. “Alright on this next contraction I want you to push, okay?”
The next contraction tears through you, and you cry out, gripping Addison’s hand as you bear down. “It hurts—it burns!” you yell, tears stinging your eyes.
Addison nods, her lips pressing a soft kiss to your temple. “I know, sweetheart. That’s the ring of fire. You’re so close. You’re doing amazing.”
Arizona’s voice cuts through the haze of pain. “The baby’s crowning. Just a few more pushes, and we’ll see her head.”
You cry out, the effort and the pain almost too much, but Addison’s voice grounds you. “You’re so strong. You’re a badass, remember? You’ve got this.”
Callie glances down instinctively, her curiosity getting the better of her, and you catch her out of the corner of your eye.
“Callie!” you snap, through clenched teeth. “You’re my best friend, you’ve seen me drunk, you’ve seen me half naked but You’re not supposed to see my baby’s head between my legs!”
Callie holds her hands up in mock surrender, her face breaking into a grin despite your glare. “Hey, I was just checking the progress! It’s impressive!”
Addison stifles a laugh, squeezing your hand as you bear down again. Arizona’s calm voice fills the room. “The head’s out! One more big push, and we’ll have the shoulders.”
"Addie I don't know if I can do this, I'm so tired."
"Darling you are so close, just one more… one more, let’s meet our baby girl."
"Addison..." you whimpered, before gritting your teeth together to start pushing.
You groan, tears streaming down your face as you muster every ounce of strength left in your body. Finally, Arizona’s voice rings out. “The shoulders are out!”
Then after a few pushes, whispered curses and lots of different emotions, the sound you’ve been waiting for—your baby’s first cry, loud and strong, fills the room, you hold a beautiful baby girl against your chest, she already has a full head of reddish hair, her eyes blue with just the slightest tint of green coming through them.
“You did so good mama, I’m so proud of you.” Addison said, watching you as you held your daughter.
“She’s gorgeous…” you whispered, taking in the lovestruck feeling.
“Just like her mommy’s.” Arizona said coming in to check on you one last time, a bright smile pulling across her face, Callie followed behind to check on you.
“Mm..” you chuckled, “thank you Arizona, for taking care of our girl.”
“Oh you know I would do anything for you, both of you.”
“Well next time a little heads up would be nice, and next time no operating rooms that close to the due date.”
“But…” you whined out, “and who said about next time?”
“Oh y'all make gorgeous and brilliant babies there will definitely be a next time.”
“gorgeous and brilliant, you hear that little one…” you whispered softly down to you baby as she cooed back up at you.
“I’d say if we’re not careful we’re gonna have a world class surgeon on our hands.” Addison beamed down with a smile before kissing your lips.
“Mm knowing y’all’s brains, you’re gonna have genius babies…” Callie said and you all laughed together as they exited to give you the room.
"Hmm are you gonna be a little genius baby?" you cooed down at the infant in your arms, before smiling back up at Addison, she was in awe and placed a loving kiss to your lips.
"So long as they aren't as daring as their mother..."
"Oh hush, it keeps you guessing..." you said teasing back.
"Something like that" she smiled down at you
Can i request a greys anat. fic? Where addison is newley devorced from derek and is falling head over heals for intern reader and gets v teased for it by mark, derek and callie? (I am only on s3 of greys anatomy and i love it sm!)
Addison Getting Teased for Liking an Intern | Blurb
It definitely took some time after the divorce for the awkwardness around Addison, Derek, and Mark to go away and it was difficult for all three of time. After some long and hard conversations, Addison and Derek came to the mutual agreement that their divorce was for the best and began to sort things out between themselves and with Mark (both individually and together).
Their past was still a bit of a touchy subject but they were getting there, which is why it came as a surprise when Mark noticed Addison and Callie standing together and made a comment. “Wow, I haven’t seen Addison look at someone like that since she met Derek in med school,” he joked.
Derek, who had been standing with Mark, and Callie both followed Addison’s line of sight, only to see the new intern who the hospital had been gossiping about talking to Meredith by the stairs.
“Oooooh,” Callie teased, nudging her friend playfully with her elbow as Addison’s face immediately went the same shade as her hair.
She straightened her posture and made a show of rolling her eyes. “Don’t be dramatic, I wasn’t giving her any type of look,” she insisted.
“You were practically drooling,” Derek chimed in, teasing good-naturally with a smug look on his face. Maybe he was being a bit dramatic now.
Addison scoffed, though it wasn’t very convincing. “It’s nothing! She’s—she’s . . .” There were no words for her to say to escape from this.
“You’re head over heels, oh my god!” Callie exclaimed excitedly, even clapping her hands.
Addison’s face got redder by the moment. Mark opened his mouth to add something snarky in, when he stopped at the sight of you, the intern, walking over. “Doctor Montgomery!” You said cheerfully, wearing a bright and contagious smile.
Mark and Derek had to stifle snickers at how quickly Addison turned around. “Y-yes?” She said, straightening her coat.
“Would you mind if I discuss a patient with you? I just had some questions about the chart,” you said, holding the clipboard out to her.
Not trusting herself to speak, Addison only nodded with a small “mhm!”.
You pinched your eyebrows. “Yes, you do mind?” You asked, a little dejected.
Addison’s eyes went wide but Callie quickly swooped in to save the day. “She doesn’t mind! She has all the time in the world,” the resident said, practically pushing Addison towards you. You looked confused, but went with it.
As Addison walked away with you, she glanced over her shoulder to see the three doctors wearing shit-eating grins. Derek gave her a thumbs up, Mark was making a kissy face, and Callie was mouthing at her telling her to make a move. She gave them one fierce glare that only she could before turning back to you and refocusing her attention.
PROPOSALS & REJECTIONS (Part One)
FEATURING Mark Sloan x reader
SUMMARY Mark won’t get off your ass about a date, but you refuse to stoop so low until your best friends Derek and Addison change your mind
CONTENT WARNINGS descriptions of injuries, pain, mentions of infertility, mark being gross, and maybe language
AUTHORS NOTE I’ve been in a Grey’s anatomy mood, and tumblr is LACKING in my husband Sloan fics so I made whatever this is. As always, let me know if you want a second part.
"Go away, Mark," you sigh, irritation seeping through as you clutch the stack of patient charts you'd been feverishly updating at the nurse's station. Your concentration had been perfect until his unmistakable presence loomed beside you.
"C’mon! I haven’t even said anything yet!" Mark protests, his voice carrying a note of offense as he trails you down the brightly lit hospital corridor.
Tumblr media
"You don’t have to say anything; you’re Mark," you grumble under your breath, your annoyance growing. Without slowing your pace, you swiftly turn a corner, effectively cutting him off. You push open the door to your patient's room, leaving him alone in the hallway, his puzzled expression fading as the door swings shut.
At that moment, Derek strides past, a smirk visible on his face as he observes the scene. "Don’t say I didn’t warn you," he chuckles, shaking his head slightly at Mark’s dejected stance. Mark lets out a defeated huff and reluctantly turns to follow Derek towards their next case.
"Man, that fish is hard to hook," Mark sighs to Derek as they walk together toward the pre-op section, his frustration evident. The comment floats back along the hospital corridor, mingling with the usual cacophony of beeping monitors and hurried footsteps.
"Well, maybe that 'fish' would be easier to catch if you stopped calling her a fish," Derek laughs, the sound rich and knowing. They pass a group of nurses, who glance curiously at the pair, wondering at their laughter amidst the usual hospital seriousness.
Mark considers hurling a sarcastic retort about his own tumultuous relationship with Meredith, thinking it might lighten the mood. But he glances at Derek's amused, expectant face and decides against it. Instead, Mark falls into a sullen silence, his mind replaying the morning's rebuffs as they prep for surgery. The rest of his day drags on, each hour marked by a growing sense of frustration and isolation that only deepens his sulk.
"God, I swear Sloan doesn’t know when to quit!” you grumble, your frustration palpable as you maneuver the patient's hip back into place with precision, despite his howls of pain echoing in the trauma bay.
“He’s definitely persistent, I will give him that,” Addison acknowledges, her voice carrying a hint of exhaustion as she assists in restraining the patient.
“Enough about Mark, what brings you down to my trauma bay today?” you inquire, your attention shifting momentarily from the task at hand as you deftly adjust the patient's IV drip.
“I was hoping for some advice,” Addison begins tentatively, her gaze flickering between the patient and your focused movements.
“Hold that thought, Addie,” you interject, a sense of urgency in your tone. “Nurse, could you please page Dr. Stevens and Dr. Shepard for me?” Your request is met with a nod from the nurse, who promptly exits the room, leaving you and Addison alone.
“Okay, now that we've removed the potential for eavesdropping, and…” Your words trail off as you glance over at Mr. Howard, your car trauma patient, now sedated and stabilized, at least for the moment. “A stable patient. Hit me!”
“Do you remember when I left for LA a few days ago?” Addison's voice holds a note of vulnerability as she speaks.
“Well, yeah, you only got back like two days ago,” you reply with a sympathetic smile, recalling the recent upheaval in her schedule.
“Anyways,” Addison continues, her tone becoming more focused, “When I went, I was going to see Naomi, you remember her?”
“Yeah, from college, right? She was with you guys in New York too, the fertility specialist?”
“That’s her…” Addison trails off, a solitary tear slipping down her cheek, unnoticed in the bustle of the trauma bay.
“Oh, Addie,” you sigh softly, pulling her into a gentle embrace, your heart aching for her distress.
“My whole life I’ve waited for kids, but now that I’m ready to actually have them, I have barely any eggs and my FSH is too low,” Addison confesses, her voice trembling with emotion as she shares her deepest fears.
“Shh, it’s going to be okay,” you assure her, holding her close and offering what comfort you can amidst the chaos of the trauma bay. “You are Addison freaking Montgomery, do you hear me?” you declare, your voice firm with conviction as you meet her gaze. “You've faced adversity head-on, time and time again. You've weathered storms that would have broken lesser souls. And now, you will overcome this.” You wish you could convey the depth of your belief in her resilience, the unwavering strength that has always been her hallmark.
“Thank you,” Addison murmurs once she's calmed down, her eyes glistening with unshed tears as she pulls away slightly, her expression a mixture of gratitude and determination.
“Hey, none of that. You know I'm always here for you,” you reassure her, offering a reassuring smile as you gently wipe away her tears. “But if you really wanted to help me out, you'd get Mark off my back,” you add with a teasing grin, hoping to lighten the heavy atmosphere with a touch of humor. It earns a weak chuckle from Addison, a brief respite from the weight of her worries.
However, your shared moment of levity is short-lived as Derek enters the room, followed by Stevens and her interns, the bustle of activity resuming with renewed intensity. You nod at Addison as she gathers herself, her expression a mask of determination as she exits the trauma bay, passing by Derek without a word, her resolve unshakeable in the face of adversity.
"Dr. Shepard, I need a neuro consult, right pupil looks to be blown, I’m assuming a stroke or increased intracranial pressure of some kind, but you might want a resident to order a head CT,” I assert, my tone crisp and authoritative as I hand over the patient's chart to Derek, my eyes already scanning the bustling trauma bay for the resident I've paged.
Derek quickly scans the chart, his expression shifting to one of concern as he approaches the patient's bedside to conduct a preliminary examination. Meanwhile, I redirect my attention to Dr. Stevens, who has just entered the trauma bay in response to my page.
“As for you, Dr. Stevens, could you please give me a valid reason why I had to page you, my assigned resident for the day, to my trauma bay?” I question sharply, my gaze piercing as I wait for an explanation. Stevens shifts uncomfortably under my scrutiny, her eyes darting nervously around the room.
“I-I’m sorry, ma’am, I was just—I had a…” Stevens stammers, her voice trailing off as she struggles to come up with a coherent response. I raise an eyebrow, growing increasingly suspicious at her evasive demeanor.
“Well, if my specialty doesn’t seem too important to you, then please feel free to do scut with your interns until you find a good enough answer for me,” I retort, my tone laced with thinly veiled frustration as I dismiss her with a wave of my hand, leaving her to hastily exit the room with her intimidated interns in tow.
“Wow, I can see why they call you Satan,” Derek chuckles lightly, shaking his head in mild amusement as he completes his examination of the patient.
“I’m flattered,” I reply dryly, leaning against the counter with folded arms as I watch Derek work. “So, how is Christina?” I inquire, shifting the topic as Derek continues his assessment.
“I wouldn’t know,” Derek responds, his expression somber as he focuses on Howard’s injuries. “Meredith and I aren’t really on speaking terms yet.”
“Oh, you mean since she unofficially broke up with you in front of Christina and Preston’s entire wedding party?” I remark knowingly, my tone tinged with a hint of mischief as I recall the recent drama.
“Yes, since then,” Derek grumbles, meeting my gaze with a mix of resignation and frustration. “You are right about the CT, I would definitely like to get some films, but these burns on his neck look pretty bad, I would recommend a plastics consult too,” he adds, a wry grin tugging at the corner of his lips as he assesses the severity of the patient's injuries. I shoot him a sharp glare in response to his grin, though inwardly acknowledging his astuteness.
“In fact, I think I will ask a nurse to page Dr. Sloan along with my resident,” Derek continues, his grin widening at the subtle reaction he elicits from me. I can't help but cringe inwardly at the mention of Sloan's name, a feeling that Derek seems to relish.
“I think it will be smart to make myself scarce then,” I reply with a forced smile, gathering my belongings and exiting the room, Derek trailing behind me.
“He’s not all that bad, you know,” Derek remarks, attempting to lighten the tension as we walk down the corridor.
“You’re joking, right? You mean he’s not bad other than the fact that he is a literal man-whore who your ex-wife cheated on you with before she was your ex-wife?” I retort with a dry chuckle, unable to resist the opportunity to tease Derek about his complicated history with Sloan.
“He got what was coming to him the same as Addison, and I hold no more ill will against him,” Derek shrugs, his tone surprisingly nonchalant given the circumstances. “He was my best friend once upon a time, you know, it’s hard to just let that all go.”
“I know,” I sigh, my expression softening with understanding. “But I just don’t know if I can really trust him to stay… loyal,” I admit hesitantly, the weight of my concerns evident in my voice. “It’s not that he’s not hot, because I mean—”
“Yeah! Yeah, no! Ew. Stop,” Derek interjects, cringing in mock disgust at the direction of our conversation.
“What? He is!” I laugh, unable to resist teasing Derek a little more as we pause at the nurse's station.
“I know, but that doesn’t mean I enjoy hearing about it,” Derek replies with a shiver of mock horror. “Seriously, though. If you want to test his loyalty, give him hoops, make him jump through them, and if he is really invested then he will.”
“Thanks, Derek,” I say sincerely, a smile playing at the corners of my lips as I appreciate his advice.
“Don’t mention it,” Derek grins, turning to the nurses to issue his instructions, his demeanor more relaxed now as he leaves me with a wink and walks away, disappearing down the corridor.
I am still caught up updating charts when Sloan and Karev make their way down to the nurses' station, the rhythmic clacking of keyboards and murmurs of medical jargon creating a background symphony in the bustling emergency department. I look up from the sea of paperwork, my eyes meeting Alex's expectant gaze, ready to assign him his next task, and notice Mark's lingering stare, undoubtedly brewing some inappropriate comment or another.
"Karev, your patient is in trauma room three, get him up to CT asap so I can free up the room," I instruct, my voice cutting through the din of activity as I hand him Howard’s chart from the stack I'm trying to plow through before the end of my shift. Alex nods in acknowledgment, swiftly snatching the chart from my grasp before hurrying off to attend to his duties.
"You paged?" Mark interjects, his voice carrying a seductive undertone that signals he's about to make yet another overly flirtatious comment. He leans against the counter with an air of casual confidence, his piercing gaze fixed on me as if daring me to engage in his game.
"Karev's got it covered," I reply tersely, my attention already drifting back to the daunting stack of charts demanding my attention.
"But you paged for me, right?" Mark presses, his tone laced with playful insinuation. "Is it because you missed me? Or maybe you finally have an answer for me about that drink," he adds with a wink, his smirk suggesting he's enjoying the banter far more than I am.
I resist the urge to roll my eyes, maintaining my focus on the task at hand as I continue sorting through the charts. "I only wish I could, Mark," I retort, my tone tinged with resignation as I finish the current chart.
"But you can’t avoid me forever," Mark teases, his grin widening at my subdued response. "So what do you say? Drink on me after shift?"
"I say no," I reply firmly, my answer unwavering despite his persistent advances.
“Why not?” Mark probes, though he already knows my response all too well.
“Because I said so,” I grumble, my frustration mounting as I move on to the next patient chart.
“That’s not good enough for me,” Mark insists, undeterred by my reluctance.
“Well, it is for me,” I huff, my irritation growing with each exchange.
“Just give me a chance here, I promise it will be worth your while,” Mark pleads, attempting to sway me once again.
“No, it won’t,” I counter, my resolve firm.
“Yes, it will,” Mark persists, his persistence bordering on exasperating.
“No,” I repeat, my patience wearing thin.
“Yes,” Mark insists, refusing to back down.
“Oh my god!” I finally snap, drawing the attention of everyone in the ER with my outburst. With an exasperated sigh, I grab Mark by the arm and lead him to the nearest on-call room, needing a moment of respite from his relentless pursuit.
“Alright,” Mark smirks, anticipating a different kind of encounter behind closed doors.
“Keep your shirt on, Mark. This isn’t a yes, it’s a condition,” I clarify, feeling a mix of frustration and resignation at the situation.
“What is it?” Mark asks eagerly, eager to negotiate the terms of our agreement.
“No sex with other women, no flirting with me or anyone, no goo-goo eyes, or date proposals for sixty days,” I stipulate, laying down the terms of our arrangement.
“Okay, what do I win if I make it?” Mark wonders, his excitement palpable as he eagerly awaits my response.
“If you make it, then I will go on a date with you,” I concede, reluctantly agreeing to the terms in hopes of securing some peace from his relentless pursuit.
“One night until I blow your socks off with my impressive penis and charming personality,” Mark quips, his cocky demeanor only adding to my exasperation.
“I’ve seen both already and neither are impressive enough to 'blow my socks off' or whatever you’re planning on trying to do,” I retort flatly, attempting to maintain some semblance of control over the situation.
“Ouch. You wound me,” Mark jokes, feigning mock hurt.
“Good. So, do we have a deal?” I ask, eager to bring an end to the negotiation.
“Yes,” Mark grins, extending his hand, and I reluctantly shake it, the touch sending a jolt of unexpected heat through me. As much as I'm looking forward to my two months of peace, I can't shake the feeling that Mark won't make it, and perhaps that's precisely what he needs to realize he doesn't want to be with me.
addison montgomery fanfiction recs by pairing
(although i am *relatively* new to the greys fandom, once i finished season three i immediately obsessively scoured the internet for any addison montgomery centric fanfiction i could get my hands on. here are just a few of my favorite ones for each of my addison ships (of which there are many). this is by no means an exhaustive list. my qualifications for this are that i’m cool and have good taste and spend way too much time thinking about fictional people)
ADDEK:
-“The Climbing Way” by winter machine (this is actually probably one of my favorite fanfictions of all time, period. this author is just absolutely brilliant at capturing their dynamic and all of its complexities. the entire thing is actually from derek’s POV which i was surprised how much i enjoyed considering i can sometimes be a derek hater lol but it provides some really good insight into his character without being as forgiving as canon or as bash-y as some fics (if that makes any sort of sense?). it also combines two of my favorite addek tropes: “sad baby backstory” and “traumatic event forces them to actually confront their issues”. it is also a very captivating portrait of derek and mark’s realtionship and has lots and lots of flashbacks. big angst warning especially for the early chapters.)
-“Some Bright Morning” by winter machine (i just can’t get enough of this author. i love any addek fic that heavily features savvy and weiss bc i think they should have made more appearances in canon. or savvy should’ve at least lmao. weiss was kind of a dick. but i like him in this fic! this is a very very interesting AU because it takes place largely outiside of canon settings and features a lot of OCs. it also takes place around early season one so the mark wound is still very fresh. its set entirely on a small island in georgia during savvy’s mother’s funeral so there’s plenty of forced proximity and bed sharing. the original setting and cast of characters are really fleshed out and completely captivating. like, i would read a whole separate story just about this island and its inhabitants. also features lots of background on savvy and addison’s friendship. and plenty of angst of course. you may be sending a pattern with these recommendations)
-“do you think i have forgotten (about you)” by crime_wives (this one legitimately made me sob. like, my body produced actual tears. angsty one shot. not happy-addek. a perfect snapshot of their tragic ending)
- “Unhinged (AddisonandDerekandMark)” by RulerOfAllThatIsEvilChiFlowers (very dark. very twisty. somewhat non linear.)
- “This Hurt Can Teach Us Both” by darlingwrecks (oh my lord this one is so so addek- bittersweet, sexy, nostalgic, painful and delightful all at once. my favorite thing about this writer is the way they write backstory, especially for the Med School Trio. this is also kind of fun because we never got to see how these two dealt with their post divorce logistics. derek was just kind of like “take all the property and fuck off” which is not at all how these things work lol)
MEDDISON:
- “lately she’s undressing for revenge” by emilyprentits (only read this if you want to be driven to tear your own hair out by the emotions this will make you feel. this is one of the fics that fully convinced me to ship meddison. so so so good and it’s like it was written from inside of meredith’s actual brain)
-“i’ll show you every version of yourself tonight” by withpeopleinperson (two words: stripper addison. read it. be forewarned it’s only one chapter and has not been updated in a few years but it’s a GREAT chapter regardless)
-“the seven stages of intoxication” by theprincessdiarist (meredith grey doling out meredith grey levels of emotional dysfunction. featuring loads and loads of delightfully frustrating mutual pining)
-“Sex and Caring in Seattle” by Bluefall (meredith once again having totally normal and regular feeling about her ex boyfriend’s wife. i love this one because they are both just kind of bisexual disasters and derek is just Also There. i love the way this author perfectly captures meredith’s perpetual inability to navigate her own emotions)
*EDIT: i also realized i forgot to add that these last two were recommended to me by @crime-wives !!!
-“open the floodgates up” by SugarsweetRomantic (this has EVERYTHING you could want in a meddison fic: mutual hurt/comfort, bed sharing, friends to lovers, these two being absolute dumbasses about each other. had me crying and also kicking my feet. genuinely)
MADDISON:
-“Make This Go On Forever” by darlingwrecks (i am so in love with this universe. i usually don’t gravitate toward kid/family centric fics but this one is so so much more than that. it’s maddison, if those two had made a real go of things, stayed in new york, and kept the pregnancy. there’s even some background merder eventually (which is not usually my jam but i like in this context). very very fluffy at times, a bit angsty at others, super in character but iirc i think this was written pretty early on in the show so addison and mark’s backgrounds may be a smidge different than in canon. this is the link to the rewritten version (i think?) on ao3. the author had the original up on live journal back in the day and i could have SWORN i read a sequel that i found a link to in the depths of their LJ but i cannot find it anywhere rn)
-“When I Grow Up” by winter machine (another maddison-if-they’d-stayed-in-new-york-and-addison-kept-the-pregnancy, but with a twist that brings them to seattle to see derek, who they haven’t spoken to in seven years. a fantastic plot but also sort of just a brilliant exploration of how mark and addison would be as parents given their own childhoods and how they have pretty much been cut off from the one healthy(ish) family dynamic that either of them have experienced. there’s also background merder in this one and it actually kind of made me like merder which is a major feat)
-“Celery” by winter machine (a fun little one shot featuring Derek Being An Idiot, Drunk Addison, and Mark Crossing Boundaries. a little bit sad and a little bit funny. again, everything by this author is just great)
JADDISON:
- “A Certain Slant of Light” by darlingwrecks (this is for those of us that were weirded out by addison’s convo with amelia in season 18. a more fleshed out exploration of addison’s mental health during the pandemic. it’s a very raw and honest portrayal of depression and anxiety and how someone like addison would navigate it while being a doctor in a global pandemic and raising an 8 year old. it’s not nearly as bleak as it sounds though. lots of fluff, a little smut. also touches on how addison might’ve grieved mark and derek. and archer makes some appearances which i loved (i know he’s an asshole but i really like addison’s brother lol))
-“Diamonds in the Sky” by Ziaaaaa_sdc (there’s so few jaddison fics out there, probably because of how compressed their relationship timeline was as they tried to wrap up the show, but this writer has several and they’re all so good. there definitely aren’t enough fun AUs for them so i was really excited when i first found this. its Ballet School Jaddison and there’s actually only three chapters atm. no idea if it will be updated ever again but it’s still more than worth a read. a smidge angsty so far. also seems to be setting up a little enemies to lovers arc)
CADDISON:
-“Help Me (With The Butterflies)” by BlackRoseMatron (a very sweet one shot. this author is single-handedly keeping the caddison shippers fed and i love it. they also have some really great meddison stuff)
Thinking about how Mark said that in Mer's version of heaven, he and Lexie are together. But not in every version.
It makes me wonder if there's a version where he and Addison are together.
I’ve been reading a LOT of Addek fanfiction and the topic of Derek’s death isn’t discussed enough
like that was her person for what 16 years and i know like really he and Meredith are like soulmates but Addison was married to him longer than Meredith even knew him
I think that the reaction of Derek’s death (especially since she already loss Mark) shoulda been something we saw in the show and it upsets me that it’s not explored enough
ALSO FINISH YOUR FANFICS
