"En este conjunto de obras, la desertificación, la degradación del medio ambiente, la preservación de la biodiversidad y nuestra relación afectiva con la geografía aparecen como tópicos. Cada una de estas áreas tiene sus expertos y sus premisas, pero, desde siempre y cada vez más, son temáticas abordadas por los artistas, en todas las latitudes... porque el arte siempre responde a las crisis, y estos son los dilemas de nuestro tiempo.

El arte comunica y nutre las células y los órganos sociales. Las artes de la visualidad cumplen ese rol al alimentar nuestra más potente herramienta de interpretaciín del universo: la visión, lo que percibimos más allá del lenguaje y la lógica. La visión, incluso en el lenguaje, se asocia al futuro, para conseguir una transformación tenemos que poder imaginarla. Esa característica fluida del arte es su fuerza, como la del un hilo de agua que hace brotar el secano, lo sutil es a veces lo más tranformador. Y si no podemos revertir las condiciones que nos aquejan ¿Cómo amar el desierto que seremos?¿Nos tendremos que transformar por dentro?..."

for the record if you see "achira" that's another name for canna lilies that are being bred specifically to have larger roots for eating. It's probably Canna indica but might be other ones native further south.

Canna edulis = Canna indica. people like coming up with fake "scientific names" for marketing.

I love how depressing and sombre it is.

It reminds me of an abandoned graveyard I once found in the woods.

The isolation and decay of stone ruins combined with an abundance of nature reminds me of the cycle of life.

It reassures me that even when I'm gone, life goes on without me.
