 Stress is usually known as a psychological health problem caused by an imbalance of interest and fear of disappointment. In the academic case, stress can be the biggest barrier for the student’s performance (Zamroni et al, 2019). For students, academic pressure is a mental problem that reflects the condition of students who experience tension in their academic performance (Maddi as cited in Zamroni et al, 2003). What people need to realize is that students in higher education are in their adolescence. Adolescence is the human phase between childhood and adulthood. Students may face an increasing age's rapid physical and mental improvement. They will face psychological events and actual changes with the new social environment which are another challenge for students. It is clear that they may suffer from problems arising from transformations they are not ready to adapt (Aafreen et al, 2018). Therefore, it is not surprising that students in university institutions feel depressed in their new educational environment. There are several main factors that push students into academic stress, such as family or parental expectation, financial stress and emotional distress.

Most students in the world spend their young adulthood going on to college. Many of them experience difficulties during their studies, especially in their first year of learning (Nakalema et al, 2013). Many students study outside of their city or country to get a degree. They move from home to study in college with a lot of expectations from their parents, especially in academic pursuits. This turned out to be a burden for students because their expectations were difficult to fulfill. Parents' expectations of student achievement are not fulfilled causing psychological pressure for these students (Wang and Heppner as cited in Zamroni, 2015 ). In addition, a student certainly needs social support from his closest circle (Taylor as cited in Bayu, 2011). In academics, the absence of social support can increase students' anxiety and limit their adaptation procedures. Support must always be there for students so that they feel valued and someone cares for them.

Another problem that causes students to experience academic stress is financial problems. Monetary pressure or financial problems can be defined as helplessness in financial obligations, this can affect students' mental or passionate learning processes during college (Northern et al., 2010).
