The clause-by-clause review of Health Minister Christian Dubé’s major health-care reform, Bill 15, resumed at the National Assembly Monday afternoon.
After hearing from several concerned parties in hearings last spring, the committee on health and social services will now continue to review the bill’s nearly 1,200 articles. If it’s adopted, the bill would make several changes to the province’s health-care system, including the creation of a new agency, Santé-Québec, that would oversee day-to-day operations.
Opposition parties have accused the health minister of passing the buck with this new agency, and fear it could lead to the further centralization of the health-care system, as well as a lack of accountability.
“We have to be realistic. The bill is tabled. It will be adopted eventually by the majority government, so this agency will be created,” said Parti-Québecois Health Critic Joël Arseneau.

The House approved a measure late Tuesday that would slash Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg's taxpayer-funded government salary to just $1.
The bill — which was introduced by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga. — was passed via voice vote Tuesday as an amendment to the 2024 Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act, the standalone funding bill for the General Services Administration, Securities and Exchange Commission and other related agencies.
"I’m proud to announce my amendment to FIRE Pete Buttigieg just PASSED the House. Pothole Pete staged fake bike rides to the White House and used private planes funded by taxpayers to receive awards for the way certain people have sex," Greene said in a social media post Tuesday. "American taxpayers should not be on the hook for paying for his lavish trips or his salary."
"Pete Buttigieg doesn’t do his job. It’s all about fake photo ops and taxpayer-funded private jet trip to accept LGBTQ awards for him," Greene added. "I’m happy my amendment passed, but he doesn’t deserve a single penny."
Since taking office in 2021, Buttigieg has faced criticism for Republican lawmakers in response to several crises that have faced the Department of Transportation.
For example, in February, after a train carrying vinyl chloride, a dangerous colorless gas, derailed in East Palestine, Ohio, Buttigieg was criticized for his apparent inaction and for waiting several weeks before traveling to the site of the derailment.
In addition, there have been multiple instances of mass commercial airline cancellations during his tenure for various reasons, including a pilot shortage. Republicans and Democrats alike had called for Buttigieg to take decisive action to ensure air travelers are protected from such cancellations.
And while Buttigieg has spent much of his tenure addressing commercial delays, he has used government-managed private jets on at least 18 occasions since taking office. Those flights sparked an ongoing inspector general probe and, according to information obtained by Americans for Public Trust (APT), have cost taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars.
PETE BUTTIGIEG TOOK GOVERNMENT JET TO NYC FOR RADIO INTERVIEW, ACLU MEETING BEFORE FLYING BACK HOURS LATER
In one instance in September 2022, Buttigieg used a government jet for a roundtrip journey to Montreal. During the visit, he attended a ceremony hosted by a large Canadian gay rights organization and received an award for his "contributions to the advancement of LGBTQ rights."
Buttigieg's office has further stonewalled additional information about his use of the executive fleet.
Secretary Buttigieg continues to blow off the American people who simply want to know the true cost of his taxpayer-funded private jet trips," APT Executive Director Caitlin Sutherland told Fox News Digital on Tuesday. "After multiple FOIA requests, a lawsuit, and an ongoing inspector general investigation, Buttigieg's office still refuses to provide vital details about using a private government jet for a swing state tour, which appears more akin to campaigning than official DOT business."
"Buttigieg looks to be politicizing his role and making it clear that he believes he’s above accountability and transparency, a dismissive attitude that seems to be endemic throughout the Biden administration," Sutherland said.
And the transportation secretary came under fire last year after it was revealed he vacationed in Porto, Portugal, while his agency and the White House were locked in tense negotiations with rail worker unions to avert a strike that could have had a dire impact on the U.S. economy. The Department of Transportation said at the time that the vacation was a "long-planned personal trip."

I... don't entirely agree, but it's because of circumstances outside of my control.
See, I'm disabled, and my local Transit Authority's long had a Paratransport Service program in place for cripples like me. You register for the Short Bus service and then call ahead of any planned travels to schedule a ride. In practice, this means they should be able to deduct your transport fees from your account, but the feature is listed as Pending for Montreal's Transit Authority - and has been listed as such for the last twenty years on their website.
So, what do I have to do?
I have to schlep my crippled ass to the closest subway terminal to purchase a wad of tickets, which are not at the same rate as standard bus-ride tickets, which I also need. Then, I need to ignore all the snazzy tech able-bodied bus users have at their disposal and carry a wad of paper titles around that I frequently forget to replenish, because who the fuck wants to drive halfway across town just for fucking bus tickets?!
For five years, we had the option to purchase a USB-powered card reader that never worked as intended. For fifteen years, they've been saying they want to implement NFC tech seeing as everyone has a goddang cell phone, nowadays - but no. A Tech student hacks up an app that enables you to charge your card using your phone's own NFC point? Cease and Desist, we'll instead copy your design and hand it off to a commissioned firm for big bucks, and it won't ever fucking work as intended.
See my problem? I need a layer of convenience. I am not going to drive my way across town for fucking bus tickets my dog could chew through if I'm not careful.
Screw Boomers, this is an instance where the tech would honestly save my fucking day.

Family Car Rentals in Montreal: A Guide to Stress-Free Travel
When planning a family trip to Montreal, transportation is one of the most important aspects to consider. Whether you're visiting for a weekend or an extended stay, renting a family car can make your journey smoother, more flexible, and comfortable. Montreal’s public transportation system is reliable, but having a car gives you the freedom to explore the city and its surroundings at your own pace. Here's a guide to finding the perfect Family Car Rentals Montreal for a stress-free vacation.
Why Rent a Family Car in Montreal?
Montreal is a city full of history, culture, and family-friendly attractions. From the charming streets of Old Montreal to the sprawling green spaces of Mount Royal Park, there’s plenty to see and do. Renting a car gives your family the convenience of traveling between destinations without worrying about public transport schedules or routes. This is particularly useful if you plan to visit attractions outside the city, such as Parc Omega, Quebec City, or the Eastern Townships.
In addition, traveling with children can be unpredictable, so having a rental car allows you to make last-minute adjustments to your itinerary. It also provides a comfortable space for breaks, naps, or just a quiet moment away from the bustle of the city.
Choosing the Right Family Car
When selecting a rental car for your family, several factors should be taken into account to ensure a comfortable and safe experience.
Space: The size of the car is crucial, especially if you're traveling with a large family or have a lot of luggage. Look for vehicles with enough seating for everyone, plus extra room for strollers, bags, and any other equipment you might be bringing along. SUVs, minivans, or crossovers are often ideal for family travel due to their spacious interiors.
Safety Features: Safety should always be a top priority when traveling with children. Check that the vehicle includes essential safety features like airbags, anti-lock brakes, rearview cameras, and child seat anchors. Some Car Rental Services Montreal offer child safety seats as an optional add-on, saving you the hassle of bringing your own.
Fuel Efficiency: With gas prices fluctuating, choosing a fuel-efficient vehicle can help you save money during your trip. Hybrid or electric cars are becoming increasingly popular as rental options, offering both eco-friendliness and cost-effectiveness.
Comfort and Amenities: Long drives can be tiring, especially for kids. Look for a vehicle with comfortable seating, climate control, and entertainment options such as built-in DVD players or charging ports for devices. These features can help make the journey more enjoyable for everyone.
Tips for Renting a Family Car in Montreal
Once you've chosen the type of car that fits your family’s needs, there are a few more things to keep in mind to ensure a hassle-free rental experience.
Book Early: Montreal is a popular destination, and rental cars can be in high demand, especially during peak travel seasons. Booking your car rental well in advance will not only guarantee availability but may also give you access to better deals and discounts.
Understand the Insurance: When renting a car, it’s essential to understand the insurance options available. Some credit cards or personal auto insurance policies may cover rental cars, but it’s important to verify the extent of that coverage. Many rental services offer additional insurance packages for added peace of mind.
Check for Additional Fees: Be aware of potential additional fees, such as charges for adding extra drivers, mileage limits, or late returns. Make sure to read the terms and conditions carefully before confirming your rental to avoid surprises.
Navigation and Extras: Montreal’s roads can be tricky for visitors, especially if you’re unfamiliar with the city’s layout or its bilingual street signs. Consider renting a GPS system or using your smartphone’s navigation app to ensure a smooth ride. Some services may also provide extras like roof racks for luggage or winter tires, which can be helpful depending on the season.

The United States government has escalated its legal action against Allen Ifechukwu Athan Onyema, CEO of Nigeria’s largest airline, Air Peace, by seeking the forfeiture of assets valued at approximately $14 million. This follows an amended indictment submitted to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, accusing Onyema and his associate, Ejiroghene Eghagha, of a range of financial crimes including bank fraud, credit application fraud, and money laundering. Allen Onyema, Air Peace CEO, Faces New US Money Laundering Charges The charges focus on a series of fraudulent financial transactions made between 2016 and 2018. Prosecutors allege that Onyema and Eghagha used false export letters of credit to illegally transfer over $20 million into U.S. bank accounts, ostensibly for the purchase of five Boeing 737 aircraft. The indictment claims that the company used for these transactions, Springfield Aviation, had no legitimate involvement in aviation. The government is now seeking to recover $4.02 million from a JP Morgan Chase account and a further $9.97 million from Bank of Montreal accounts. Should these specific assets be unreachable, the U.S. authorities are prepared to seize alternative assets owned by the defendants that are equivalent in value. Additionally, the indictment accuses Onyema and Eghagha of attempting to obstruct the federal investigation by submitting falsified documents to U.S. authorities. In one instance, they allegedly directed a manager at Springfield Aviation to backdate a contract to mislead investigators and unfreeze the associated accounts.
