Dergtober Catch-up 10: Crossroads
There was a "Who's on First" style post about how many of FR's features have very similar names, a bit back (could probably dig it up, but it's 3am so, a problem for future Renai), and I thought a similar sort of thing could make a very good comic. Took ages though, ha! Hopefully the next couple prompts are easier. (transcript after the break)
Gloria!1: (is holding a map, inspecting it intently) Gloria!2: Ughhhhh... Just ask for directions already! - Gloria!2: (to passing Guardian) Hey, which way is the Crossroads? Got some stuff to trade with Swipp. - Gloria!2: (snatches map from other head) Caramel: Well, the Crossroads is that way, but for Swipp you want the Trading Post, over there. - Gloria!1: Why are you like this... Gloria!2: (while shoving the map into her/their bag, roughly) Oh, thanks! Say, from there, which way to the Marketplace? - Caramel: The Marketplace is over there, but that's merchants, not peer-to-peer... - Caramel: You actually want the Auction House, probably, Private Auctions. It's that way. You might want the message boards though, over that way. - Gloria!2: Great! After that, we just need to go to the Grand Exchange to pick up our new clanmate! Gloria!1: He just needs his moving fee paid. And this one, we know the way to. - Caramel: Oh good. But... for making new friends, don't you want... - Caramel: ...the Crossroads? (Gloria has fallen onto the ground, one head out cold and the other rubbing her forehead) Gloria!1: My head hurts.

Air Canada is appealing a decision by the country's transport regulator that seeks to boost accessibility for travellers living with a disability. The move at the Federal Court of Appeal aims to overturn orders from the Canadian Transportation Agency requiring the airline to accommodate passengers whose power wheelchairs don't fit through the cargo door of a scheduled plane. The agency told Air Canada to either find similar flights on a comparable route or swap in a plane that can carry the electric wheelchairs, as long as the customer makes the request three weeks in advance.

Do you think when Alastor brings Vox to the hotel he gives him a job like Husk and Niffty, or is he so far gone that he's useless and Alastor just makes babysitting him every else's problem?
Yeah, he'd have a job– whether he's consistently good at it is another matter. He can be their handyman. It's honestly a lot of fun for him; Val and Velvette never let him handle electronics anymore and trying to fix things is like a fun, engaging puzzle for him. Someone lowkey needs to sit with him and periodically remind him what he's trying to do as he works, but still.
Half the time the things he's trying to repair end up irreparably fried, but Charlie is nothing if not endlessly patient. She makes SUCH a big deal out of even the little victories– it really brings out Vox's craving for praise– so he tries his best to stay focused and not break things for her sake.

It's always interesting to hear about people's weird/unexpected "alternate life paths". Like, something that you could have done with your life, a job you almost took, a school you almost went to, etc - that was still actually realistic enough that it could have happened, but NOW it seems to not suit your current personality.
Like for example, I currently hate advertising (how manipulative it is, brands trying to be 'relatable', social media amplifying it to an obnoxious extreme, etc.) so much that even seeing a little ad before a youtube video is grating to even witness, but there was a point in time where I was genuinely seriously considering going into marketing/making commercials as a career lol. Or like, I have a relative who was very inclined to be a pastor when they were younger, even though today they're a super strong atheist, etc. etc.
#BECAUSE I knew I really liked filming and editing things and doing set design and costume design (from having done little bits of that#here and there in media classes and my own stuff - i used to be a lot more into making videos than I am now). BUT I was always thinking#that a movie is WAAY to big and long. even a short film. So I was trying to think of ways I could still like#have the fun of scouting locations to film and dressing up actors and etc. etc. without it having to be a Huge Million Dollar Production#on tv show or movie level. SO then I was thinking about like... just doing commercials. Or music videos. Like shorter things where I still#get the fun of the filming and everything but it's less of an intensive long term project.#So there is an alternate version of me (I suppose if i somehow did not end up having physical and mental health issues#as badly somehow.. or like.. randomly came into wealth and was able to pay my way through a nice college despite missing#days constantly being out because I'm sick or something lol) that works in some corporate advertising office coming up with commercials#and directing or filming them or doing the sets for them or something in that general vicinity.#I also was considering being a corporate psychologist. or whatever its called.. oh from google:#''Industrial and organizational (I/O) psychologists study and assess individual group and organization dynamics in the workplace''#I don't think I even knew what the job entailed. I was at the time just thinking like.. the type of person that comes into a business offic#and gives everyone personality assessments or does MBTI or big-5 testing crap for whatever reason that some businesses get that#done for people. Really i just wanted to be in a Corporate Big Office setting yet still do psychology. Because I used to be really fixated#on living in a big city. Like the ideas of everything being walkable. picking up a coffee in the morning. walking to my job in a Big#Skyscraper Building. people watching in a huge hotel lobby for lunch. flying frequently (I love airplanes and airports aesthetically).#living in an apartment with a giant window overlooking the city. etc. etc. BUT that was before i had really BEEN to a city. Then I actually#hung around a city a few times and went places and I was like... AUGh... The Sensory Overwhelm.. cars people lights loudness noise scary#everything happening all at once. etc. etc. (though even when I wanted to live in a city i NEVER strove for the Night Life. when i say I#enjoy city imagery I mean like... in the day time. Many people who like cities talk about The Night Life and post pictures of cities all#lit up at night and clubs and dancing and restaurants. none of that EVER appealed to me. perhaps a sign I am not a real city person. Like#I am NOT standing in a crowded bar full of loud people in the middle of the night lol.. get AWAY from me!!) but I do adore the#architecture of like bright white clean sterile modern spaces like huge airport lobbies or malls or etc. I think thats what reminded me of#city and what I liked about the idea of that life. Like I always LOVED the layout of schools and hospitals and trainstations and public#transport in general. Though even then I knew enough that I would not be a good architect/city planner. so I guess my adoration for those#spaces was merely to be channeled into LIVING there. but then I realized I didn't even really want to do that that much. I mean I still#definitely aim to live NEAR a city. like the little areas outside of it. I would never live in a rural place 4 hours from anything. I liter#ally just COULDNT since I need close access to hospitals sometimes lol. But I used to want to live in the CENTER of citites like high rise#condo. and now I'm like.... eh....... perhaps a smaller quieter walkable space nearby lol.. ANYWAY.. alternate me in my Business Suit eheh

the only reason I'd want to be a notable and/or wealthy creator of any kind would be to have a proper team of people helping me manage information and logistics. If you can dictate a bunch of stuff and have someone else go look up references and cross-reference with your previous material that is an extremely powerful multiplier. Outboard brain and free up tons of your mind for creating instead of spending hours figuring out your next trip to the store or tomorrow's meals. Or not having to put together parties on your own! Imagine hosting a party but you didn't have to exhaust yourself making it happen.
#sorta related: last week I overheard a woman tell her friend about all the big commercial real estate deals she's working on#huge deals with large buildings in downtown seattle#every number was a least a million#she sounded really knowledgable#To me wealth would be 1. having all the healthcare you need 2. having upkeep stuff done by others (cleaning or meals or wardrobe etc)#those are closely related#anyways I think it's probably cool having access to beach houses and cabins but I think it's wasteful if you own a bunch of them#wealthy people ought to downsize and put their money towards buying a few senators to get us all universl healthcare that's good

"Place yourself in the role of Princess Erinys, whose kingdom has fallen under the yoke of a sorrowful curse. In order to save everything you have ever known and loved, you’ll have to stand against the entire world - and even defy the Goddess herself.
How much weight will a withered kingdom burden your soul? As a princess, will you be loved or hated, betrayer or betrayed? Will you seek comfort in the companionship of others, or will the demise of your kingdom seal your heart away forever?
A path of thorns is waiting. The manner in which you walk it is up to you."
A main character that's defined, yet mouldable to your taste. Princess Erinys is an established protagonist with both a background and a personality of her own, yet it's up to you to decide how she'll evolve and relate to the other characters. You can also select your own preferred name for her.
Roleplay experience. Apart from the most impactful decisions in the story, many dialogue interactions will also contain choices that merely focus on immersion. One answer is not necessarily better than another; it just offers different ways of interacting with others.
Romance. If you wish, you can explore romantic bonds with the two accompanying characters. Although not required in order to see the story to its completion, the relationships you forge with other characters will influence its development.
Turn-based battle system. While the story remains the most important element, combat will be indispensable to progress. The turn-based combat system offers three distinct and fully hand-animated characters.
Dark and emotional story. Will the princess question her own morality? Will narcissism and lust for power replace faithful bonds to become her most loyal companions? And from what prism will she judge the sins of others?
In English and Spanish (EU). Choose the language from the options menu.

I have to laugh every time this show briefly turns into a 5 second car commercial with a weird angle slowly showcasing a glossy new jeep or truck in a way that cinematographically disrupts the narrative of the scene like. Ok automotive product placement 🙄
#9-1-1#and it’s always Buck or Bobby or Eddie ‘s vehicle and honestly I dont entirely agree with their vehicle choices bc of how much like a car ad#they read like. ok while trucks are not the most accessible choice for getting in and out of sure Eddie grew up around trucks and hes#from Texas I will allow it. but idk if I fully buy Bobby being the type of guy to drive one of those child eater brand new pickups#like. he’s practical and those ARENT for suburban life. can’t put bulk orders of groceries in the back in LA weather. and black?? in#in that climate???? be so real. and again. the safety aspect of poor visibility for children or pets in front of it?? that guy?? and I#don’t think he’s the type who needs a truck to reinforce his masculinity#Buck IS a shiny jeep guy tho that I fully believe#they are not shooting car commercials for hen or chimney’s cars but as I recall they were normal practical vehicles that made sense

Vox and Niffty couple up so quickly that those who don't Know assume that they must've worked together under Alastor before, while those who do Know guess that they might've known each other back in their overlord days. They're both wrong though– this is the first time Vox and Niffty have ever met, they just happen to get along as if they're old friends.
