Is the Maruti Access 125 Worth the Price?
When considering a reliable and fuel-efficient scooter, the Maruti Access 125 is one of the top options available in the Indian market. But is the Access 125 price justified by the features and performance it offers? Let's explore whether the Maruti Access 125 is truly worth the investment.
Engine and Performance
The Maruti Access 125 comes with a 124cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that generates a maximum power of around 8.6 bhp and a torque of 10 Nm. This scooter is known for its smooth performance, offering quick acceleration and a comfortable ride in both city traffic and on open roads. The Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) technology ensures that the scooter delivers optimum fuel efficiency without compromising on power, making the Maruti Access 125 an economical choice for daily commutes.
Features and Comfort
One of the key selling points of the Maruti Access 125 is its impressive list of features. It comes equipped with a semi-digital instrument cluster, LED headlamps, and an external fuel filler cap for added convenience. The long and wide seat ensures a comfortable ride for both the rider and pillion, making it a great choice for families. Additionally, the ample under-seat storage can easily accommodate a helmet, while the front glove box and hooks provide extra storage options.
Fuel Efficiency
The Maruti Access 125 is highly praised for its fuel efficiency, delivering around 50-55 km/l in real-world conditions. Given rising fuel costs, this makes the scooter a cost-effective choice for those looking for long-term savings.
Access 125 Price
As of 2024, the Access 125 price ranges from approximately INR 80,000 to INR 95,000, depending on the variant and any additional features. This pricing places it in the mid-range segment for 125cc scooters, and considering the reliability and brand trust that comes with Maruti, many buyers find the price justified.
With its powerful engine, excellent fuel efficiency, and numerous modern features, the Maruti Access 125 offers significant value for money. For those seeking a blend of comfort, style, and performance in a scooter, the Access 125 price seems well worth the investment.

Save four families in Gaza now!
[plain text: Save four families in Gaza now! end plain text.]
I've already made two posts about these families so far linking to their GoFundMe's, but despite the traction, that didn't equal much sizeable progress.
The families in question are:
Momen Al Ostaz's family: a family of 10 people in the Gaza Strip, trapped without food, water, or proper supplies and most of them require some form of medical intervention due to stress or diseases like Hep C caused by poor conditions. His campaign is at €16,634 out of its €70,000 goal. (#125 on the vetted spreadsheet) [Link]
Abdullah Ameen's family: Abdullah is a man living currently in the Nuseirat camp with his family of four - him, his wife, his son, and newborn daughter. He has later amended his campaign to evacuate his sisters and his mother from Gaza as well. His campaign was created back in late April, but has still not reached its goal of €35,000, only having raised €5,223. (#134) [Link]
Doaa's family: Doaa is a Gazan woman whose family is currently trapped in Khan Yunis. Her campaign is attempting to raise enough money to evacuate her sisters and their families into Egypt creating a total of THIRTEEN family members that need to get through the border. The campaign is way below its goal, having only raised $3,361 of 65,000. (Shared by 90-ghost) [Link]
Mahmoud Nedal's family: A family of 6 - him, his older brother, his parents, his 6-year-old sister, and 2-year-old brother. The campaign's raised only $3,279 of its 50,000 goal. (#123) [Link]
These campaigns are all extremely urgent! These people are trapped in inhospitable conditions without proper access to the essentials to life! Can you imagine having to put you and your family's lives into the hands of strangers who have only ignored you?
The GoFundMe's listed here have not garnered any traction whatsoever, and donations have been quite stagnant. I intend to not let this happen by whatever means I have.
Let's raise up to 8,000 for the last three campaigns and raise 4,000 for the first within the next 5 days!
[Plain text: Let's raise up to 8,000 for the last three campaigns and raise 4,000 EUR for the first within the next 5 days! end plain text.]
I understand this goal may not seem manageable, but it absolutely is! This user base has helped raise 10k, 4k, 6k for certain campaigns within a few days, I don't see why this would be any less manageable.
This is a call to action! Do NOT leave these people behind! Donate whatever you can and share, especially if you can NOT donate!
Their kids and their families should not have to live in squalor and deplorable conditions. Do not look away.

New Research: Woodcock Migration and Reproduction
In a new research publication, researchers present the first direct evidence of an incredibly rare breeding strategy called ‘itinerant breeding’ in a migratory bird – the American Woodcock. Itinerant breeding means that the birds' migrations and reproduction periods overlap and less than 0.1% of bird species are known to use this strategy. As part of this study, researchers tracked over 200 female American woodcocks using GPS and found that most of the tagged birds (>80%) nested more than once, with some nesting up to six times! The tagged birds moved an average of around 500 miles north between their first and second nests, and smaller distances (about 125+ miles) between later nests. This rare behavior likely occurs in woodcocks because they rely on temporary habitats for breeding, ground-nesting and have other life history traits that reduce the energy costs of reproductions and migrations. FWC relies on peer-reviewed science for its management; to access this full publication: https://bit.ly/WoodcockResearchPub

Saw a post where someone wasn't sure if Tim being good at computers was a fanon thing or not and friend I am happy to inform you that he's been a computer/tech guy from some of his earliest appearances in the comics.
Detective Comics (Vol. 1) #620 (Rite of Passage part 4) - immersed in the ~web~
Robin II: The Joker's Wild #3 - tabletop roleplaying games and spending hours in the basement on the computer - not beating the geek allegations on these fronts, Timmy
Detective Comics (Vol. 1) #676 - Dick was more into traditional detective work and tended to outsource the computer stuff in these days
Batman (Vol. 1) #514 (Prodigal part 10) - hackin' through all the garbage and garble
Robin (1993) #33 - Robin sneaking in and connecting Oracle with the baddies' mainframe so she can do her thing and steal all their data >:)
Nightwing (1996) #6 - "no you're really talented and well suited to be Robin." "no, you." "no, YOU!"
Tim is definitely not as good as Babs/Oracle, but he's certainly her back-up for computer work in the 90's batfam. They're tech buddies and Robin!Tim is her little assistant sometimes, it's super cute:
Birds of Prey (1999) #19 - happy to play with big sister's fancy high-powered toys
Legends of the Dark Knight (1989) #125 - real cute kid
And Dick will hand off computer jobs to his little brother when he doesn't want to bother Babs 😂 (that outsourcing I mentioned):
Nightwing (1996) #68 - examine them pixel by pixel, eh? welp, sounds like a job only you can do, Timbo, you got this buddy, byyyyeeeee
And then when he'd grown up and been doing this for years, he leveled up accordingly, and did stuff like use his access to the League of Assassins computers to overload the generators in every base he could find, etc. etc.
Red Robin (2009) #8 - yeah that was pretty dumb of you Ra's :)
So yeah, it was a bit of a specialty of Tim's, in large part because he was introduced just at the turn into the 90's, when personal computers were really starting to take off and become widespread. (Robins gotta be cutting edge and all)
Of course, by no means does it follow that the other Bats suck at computers (there is no 'smart one' they are all incredibly smart and capable). This is especially true as reboots and the sliding timescale of comics have moved the DC characters into modern times, where computers run the world and everyone grows up with one in their pocket. The baseline familiarity and expertise that everyone can be expected to have is just much, much higher these days.
It gets exaggerated in fanon as all character traits do, but computer guy Tim is definitely not something just made up out of whole cloth :)b

THREE NEW SHARK SPECIES THIS WEEK!
The second week of July 2023 something extraordinarily beautiful happened, the findings of 3 new species of sharks for were announced
A new angel sharks species was identified, from the western Indian Ocean on the Mascarene Plateau and off southwestern India in 100–500 m depths, the Lea’s angel shark Squatina leae, was recognized to be different genetically and morphologically distinct from its congeneric species Squatina africanae, following unique morphological features. This species was first detected in 1988 after finding three unusual, small sharks, but till today was completely understood. The angel shark is named after one of the author’s fiancee’s late sister, Lea-Marie Cordt.
- Squatina leae, adult male, in dorsolateral.
Angel sharks are “flatter sharks”, possesing distinctly broad, dorsoventrally flattened bodies, a short snout with large mouth and nostrils, eyes on top of the head close to the large spiracles, very large pectoral fins, and a lateral caudal keel. They've evolved to be ambush predators, they lie in wait for prey to pass closely overhead before attacking.

From North Australia, another species of hornshark is described based on six whole specimens and a single egg case. The painted hornshark Heterodontus marshallae was previously considered to be the same with the zebra bullhead shark another well know bullhead shark from the central Indo-Pacific from Japan to Australia, but genetic and morphological analyses indicated the sharks were different, but looking alike. The painted hornshark is endemic to northwestern Australia and occurs in deeper waters, at 125–229 m below surface.
- Lateral view of two mature female painted hornshark Heterodontus marshallae showing small differences between individuals
The painted hornsharks is named in honour of Dr. Lindsay Marshall www.stickfigurefish.com.au a scientific illustrator and elasmobranch scientist who expertly painted all the sharks and rays of the world for the Chondrichthyan Tree of Life Project.
Reference (Open Access): White et al., 2023 Species in Disguise: A New Species of Hornshark from Northern Australia (Heterodontiformes: Heterodontidae). Diversity.
And from an unidentified shark egg collected from the deep waters of northwestern Australia, in 2011 recently helped researchers identify a new species of deep water cat shark. Called ridged-egg catshark Apristurus ovicorrugatus after its eggs, it was collected in the earlys 90 but remained unknown to date. This sharks presents white eyes, and is small in size, reaching less than a half meter in length. .
- Lateral view of female Apristurus ovicorrugatus before preserved. Photo by CSIRO.
Egg cases belonging to this species had been documented as early as the 1980s, but could not be matched to any species of Australian shark until recently scientists examined a shark specimen of previously uncertain identity in the CSIRO collection.

Traces of polio in Gaza while the IOF gets vaccines is severely alarming. For those that don't know, polio is quite a serious illness and manifests in different forms, and can lead to long-term disability, paralysis, and DEATH! With the current situation and lack of resources in Gaza, the WHO has raised concerns of a potential outbreak. Polio spreads through droplets from sneezes or coughs, and lack of sanitation can be a huge risk factor for spreading the virus. It can be asymptomatic in a lot of cases, meaning people carry it unknowingly. Coupled with the fact that contaminated water can carry a whole plethora of illnesses...nightmare. I'm aware of the source being from July, but it doesn't mean it's not ongoing.

To Save A DogDay
I couldn't help but write this after seeing the constant dedication of saving the giant toy doggo. So here's something to assist you guys in the effort. I've done some research(even though Google was being an ass) and took a look at this particular post by @dafloof
First off, DogDay is surprisingly big despite being cut in half. If I have to compare his size then think of those giant plushies you win from a theme park or carnival game. Thus the only possible carry for the average person to safely escort him is bridal or hanging off like a koala on the side due to the grab pack. He might be able to shrink himself to a more manageable size if DogDay is similar to CatNap in body structure.
Although that doesn't mean the task is impossible outside of adrenaline. DogDay may be big you got to think about his possible weight. Bigger Bodies are still toys with the Smiling Critters being plushies. How much of him is stuffing and not organs?
The necessary body parts for him to still be alive are the lungs, heart, brain, stomach, and some sort of skeletal structure. Here's a weight chart for the average human. (Although these might be smaller if harvested back as a child than an adult.)
Stomach: 2-4 pounds/lbs
Brain- 2.5 pounds/lbs
Heart- 0.25 pounds/lbs
Lungs- 1.8 pounds/lbs
Human Skeleton- 15-25 pounds/lbs
Average weight here 21.05 - 31.05 lbs. His arm bones might be reinforced similar to the Prototype but they still wouldn't be that heavy. For carrying in your arms, 35- 55 lbs is what the the untrained person can hold. Body weight contributes to how much someone can carry with a 139 lbs untrained woman being able to deadlift around 74 lbs. For men it is 125 lbs for 148 lbs.
Adrenaline can help contribute to this as there have been feats done by people in dangerous situations. One example being a human mother fighting off a polar bear to protect her kids or someone moving a car by themselves to get free. We can do insane things when it comes to survival.
There's also the mental side to this. Our brains actually diminish the perception of how strong we are by 40%. If you carry something you love or cherish like a person, then they can weigh less just from that viewpoint. Sometimes thinking like the Little Engine That Could will make a difference.
Now I am not forgetting the dangerous little critters. There are ways to deal with them and have enough time to bring DogDay along. In his cell, there are two ports they can crawl out of. Blocking these whether by flares or stuffing them with nearby items can do the trick.
Second is bribery. We aren't restricted to the environment like in the game and throughout the facility there are intact vending machines. The toys obviously need to eat but seem unable get into the machines. YOU CAN.
Break the glass and stockpile as much snacks as possible. Finding bags or boxes to carry them wouldn't be hard. Offer these to the little Critters in exchange for DogDay. You can open one bag for further incentive as the chance to get a special treat is something no one will be able to resist.
DogDay might be able to drag himself so breaking the chains with the Grab Pack or a different tool is possible. They are probably rusty thus easier to break. It will obviously hurt for DogDay to drag his body so stealing something like a cushion from CatNap's hideyhole could ease the pain.
Should that not be the case then other options are available. Considering Playcare is a fun house, you might be able to find scooterboards or a platform cart to carry him. If not then a makeshift sled to pull DogDay about is the next best move.
Now there's actually another escape route. A duck ride that you couldn't access in the game due to bugs. I think Mob was planning for a chase down there as it is fully fleshed out with puzzles and an environment.
DogDay can hold onto the boat while you solve the puzzles to get out. For those who hadn't chosen bribery then flares will keep pursuing Little Critters away. Maybe set a fire as you escape since there's plenty of items to make a molotov cocktail if crafty enough.
I suggest finding some walkie talkies as someone needs to look after DogDay. The area under the statue can be a possible safe spot but being able to contact Kissy Missy and Poppy will better the chances of his recovery than just survival. Both know the factory's inner works enough to remain hidden so they might know where to find supplies. A possible ally with valuable info can sway them to help.
There is also the option of coming back to Playcare. DogDay might still be alive as you can hear his muffled cries during the chase. He might be worse for wear due to the little menaces piloting him like a bootleg Megazord. Walkie talkies can help you page Kissy Missy to help with escorting the Bigger Body safely.
It is possible to save DogDay if you are smart or crafty enough to use the environment. The factory offers a lot of potential options to help with that. Do know that you can turn a simple water gun into a flamethrower.
Why follow the rules of the game when there are ways to break them?

I'm not upset that blu-rays are being phased out. Formats all become obsolete and then die out.
My worry is there is not an adequate replacement for physical media. If you stream a 4K movie, it is usually over compressed and has a lossy audio track. Usually the quality *improves* when you move on to the next thing. But in this case, only the convenience is improved.
And there is no way to truly own the media you buy online. Even on Amazon when you "buy" something, that just means you have indefinite access to the file on their server. But if they lose the rights to that content or decide to delete it for tax purposes, you lose it too.
There is a service called Kaleidescape. It allows you to download blu-ray quality movie files onto local storage. Unfortunately the service has way too many caveats. You can only play the movies on their proprietary equipment. If they go out of business you will lose all of your movie purchases. And while they have a lot of mainstream, big budget movies, their selection is far from vast.
Oh, and their hardware starts at $8,000 and each movie is between $10 and $30 to purchase. And if you want to save more than 125 movies, the cost balloons to nearly $20K for the hardware.
The quality issue will eventually solve itself. New codecs like AV1 and H.266 will allow files to be compressed without losing any quality.
But I have no idea what to do about being unable to truly own your media. No studio will agree to DRM-free downloads that you can store anywhere and play with any device.
Maybe they can create a system where you can register any device you own and be allowed to play the file on those registered devices. So you get a file you can download, but the DRM requires verification you own the device it is being played on.
Perhaps they could designate a few cloud storage services as approved download platforms. You are free to shift your media from cloud to cloud, but it must always stay on the cloud and be registered to you. That way if a cloud storage company bites the dust, you still have the option to move your media to another place.
It's not as good as DRM-free local storage, but I don't see studios agreeing to anything else.
In truth, people are probably never going to buy movies in the future. If you have the option to rent for $3 or buy for $20, people probably aren't going to see the value in spending that much to own a movie.
Maybe the solution lies in some kind of law. If a platform no longer wishes to host a show or movie and they can't sell it to another streaming service, then they must give up the rights and allow the Library of Congress to save and distribute it.
