Touted to be the biggest action drama in the making, the Hindi remake of Marathi film Mulshi Pattern starring Salman Khan and Aayush Sharma is set to roll this month. The film was earlier titled Guns Of North but now will be called Antim as it focuses on the face off between a gangster and a cop. After multiple script changes, Salman Khan was back on board to star as the cop. Mulshi Pattern actor Mahesh Manjrekar will direct the Hindi remake after replacing previous director Abhiraj Minawala.

According to a daily, the shooting will commence on November 15 in Mumbai. This weekend, Salman Khan will do two look tests. While everything is settled and ready to roll, Mahesh and Salman are still in dilemma about the cop's role that whether he should be Sikh like it was earlier decided or Maharashtrian. Since Mulshi Pattern had a Maharashtrian cop, Manjrekar was hoping to follow the same. However, Salman feels playing a Sikh cop will have pan India appeal. The two of them have been brainstorming for a while and have decided to do look tests this weekend. Salman Khan will sport both looks and eventually lock in the final look after it.

Ashley Rebello and Alvira Agnihotri will be styling Salman Khan. The film will see Aayush Sharma as the gangster. The mahurat of the film will be done at Mehboob Studios during Diwali following which a month long schedule will be commenced at ND Studios in Karjat.

Since it is now called Antim, it signifies the end of the evil. The film will have start-to-finish schedule at venues in Mumbai and Karjat. The majority of the chunk is set in village which will be recreated in the studio.  The actor will be shooting action sequences and the filming will go until January.

It will release in five different languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Oriya.

This Friday, while all eyes will be on Aayush Sharma and Warina Hussain, the release of 'LoveYatri: Journey of Love' is going to be just as critical for another newcomer, director Abhiraj Minawala. The young filmmaker takes us through his aspirations and expectations while making a debut with a Salman Khan production. He's honed his skills under the tutelage of prominent filmmakers and he is hoping to have a have a long and successful career ahead. Excerpts… 

How do you view your journey from being Ali Abbas Zafar's assistant on Sultan, to making your debut as a director in a film produced by Salman Khan? 'LoveYatri: Journey of Love' has had its share of controversy and attention too. What were the challenges? It’s been a long journey from being the first AD to a director. It takes a lot of patience to get this far. It started on the sets of 'Sultan', where I met Salman Khan and Aayush Sharma for the first time. Aayush was trying to understand the workings of every department on a set. I knew he wanted to act but, not once did it occur to me that we would end up launching our careers together. I took a year’s break after Sultan and when I finally ran into Salman sir, he asked me for ideas and he was keen that I make a film for his banner. When I started working, I felt Aayush could be a great fit and he liked the script, too. What advice did your mentor Ali Abbas Zafar offer you? He had once told me that for your first film, you should work in a space that you are familiar with. Don’t take on too many challenges right away. Take one step at a time and build a strong base for a longer and stronger career as a filmmaker. I stuck to that mantra. As a Gujarati, I could connect with 'LoveYatri’s...' story really well. It’s not like I didn’t find great stories before this, but this one excited me the most. My mother’s family is from Ahmedabad. I’ve spent many summer holidays there and I have seen several Navratri celebrations, which are distinctly different from the ones in Mumbai. People go dancing on all nine nights. I wanted to bring out these beautiful things about the state, through a simple romantic story. Aayush plays Sushrut, who wants to start a garba academy but no one takes his ambition seriously. Warina plays Michelle, a Baroda girl who stays in London. They meet during Navrati, share a common passion for dance and fall in love. Isn’t that sweet and simple? With the audience’s evolving taste in cinema, even modern love stories have had to reinvent the formula. Do you think a simple love story like 'LoveYatri...', will be able to appeal to contemporary sensibilities? What made you believe that a simple story like 'LoveYatri...' would appeal to contemporary sensibilities? This film is a like a hidden treasure waiting to be found. In late 2000s, films like 'Khosla Ka Ghosla' and 'Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!' opened doors for different kind of stories, which could be set in parts of the country other than Mumbai. You will be surprised to know just how many people want to watch films like 'LoveYatri...'. The last time I saw this kind of innocent romance was in 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan'. I had worked on that film, so it was all the more special. Our film has a contemporary style, but it also has the innocence of the ’90s films, which is a rarity today. More recently, I felt 'Bareilly Ki Barfi' introduced people to the real texture of Uttar Pradesh with a simple love story. Similarly, through a love story and a set of characters, I’ve tried to introduce the country to the flavours of Gujarat. I’m sure people will savour this film; this is the kind of romance that I feel has vanished from the big screen. Launching a newcomer is a huge responsibility for any director or producer. In this case, Salman is launching Aayush who is his brother-in-law. Do you feel far more pressure because of it? There’s a lot of pressure on me but it’s not because Aayush is in the film. Salman has shown confidence in me that I can helm a film for his banner, and more so with his brother-in-law. He’s launching a new trio which is a lot of responsibility on all of us. The fact that he’s confident about us gives us a lot of self-belief. The Khan family is a tightly knit unit. Since you have worked with Salman and Aayush, what sort of a rapport do you share with their family? For me, Aayush is like a brother, but when I am going to his house or Salman sir’s house, I don’t ever forget what I am going there for. Right now, I go there when I have work. The family is indeed very loving and accepting. Like Salim Khan saab saw the film and had only one thing to say, ‘It’s a sweet film. You’ve done justice to it.’ It’s a huge compliment. Previously, Ali had shown his films to him. When Ali heard about this, he said, ‘It’s great because if Salim sir doesn’t like something, he has a lot more to say.’ What was Salman Khan’s reaction ? He just smiled and gave me thumbs up for it. Now that you have directed a film for Salman’s banner, do you have aspirations of directing him in a film too? Yeah! I am hoping for something like that, but there is a long way to go. I need to prepare myself thoroughly before working with a superstar like him. My next film depends on how people receive 'LoveYatri...'

Salman Khan released the music video for his latest original track, Tere Bina, on his YouTube channel on Tuesday. The video was produced in its entirety during the coronavirus lockdown by Salman and a small team at his Panvel farmhouse.

 The video features Salman and Jacqueline Fernandez, who is also quarantining with him at the farmhouse, romancing in nature. There are shots of them riding horses and a bike, and cuddling in the sunset and inside a bedroom. Salman and Jacqueline also go on long drives, take dips in the pool, and experiment with painting. The video ends with Salman waking up, as if from a dream, and seeing a little girl in place of Jacqueline; perhaps their daughter.

The song has been composed by Ajay Bhatia, with lyrics by Shabbir Ahmed and vocals by Salman. Loveyatri director Abhiraj Minawala has been credited as Salman’s associate director on the music video.

Tere Bina, shot over four days, is his “cheapest production” till date, Salman had previously told actor Waluscha De Souza in a mock interview. Waluscha is also quarantining with the actor at his farmhouse. “Gaana mere zehen mein tha (I already had the song in mind), so I thought of releasing it at this time,” he said. Salman added that has learnt a lot while shooting during the lockdown. “It’s a learning experience that three people can very easily shoot a song. We didn’t need any make-up artist, hair stylist,” he said. However, it was not easy to edit the track. “Things were slow. Everyone’s using wifi, so internet speed was so slow that it took us 24 to 36 hours to download some files. Everything went back and forth about 70 to 80 times. Finally, we got our edit, our teaser,” Salman shared.

Jacqueline in an interview to The Times of India had said that besides Salman, who also directed the video, and herself, only one other person was involved in its making. She said that she was made in charge of the lighting.

With lockdown easing up in India after two and a half months, filmmakers plan to resume shooting soon following the guidelines provided by the government. Salman Khan is currently charting out this schedule in order to get back to work soon.

Beginning with Radhe - Your Most Wanted Bhai, Salman Khan is set to shoot some patchwork portions of the film. A song shoot remains with Disha Patani which was earlier supposed to be shot at Azerbaijan. But, it will be filmed at a studio. The makers are eyeing for Diwali release.

This will be followed by Aayush Sharma's film, Guns Of North, the remake of Marathi movie Mulshi Paltan. Produced under Salman's banner, the actor will reportedly make a cameo in the film. Director Abhiraj Minawala, who stayed with Salman at bid Panvel farmhouse, developed the script during this lockdown period. The actor will sport a beard for his Punjabi cop role. The film is expected to roll in mid-July but Salman will join the team during the last schedule.

The actor will focus on Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali training. Since he could not meet his fans during Eid this year, he wants to bowl them over with his next Eid release.

With filmmakers resuming shoots gradually, Salman Khan charts out a schedule of three films; intends to wrap up Radhe followed by Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali, Guns of North.

He may have pursued creative interests like singing and sketching during the lockdown, but Salman Khan is happiest when on a film set. As the entertainment industry is gingerly resuming shoots in adherence with the guidelines issued by the state government, the superstar intends to dive headlong into three projects — Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai, Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali and Guns of North — in the coming weeks.

His foremost priority is to wrap up the Prabhudheva-directed venture. "First, Salman will film the Radhe song with Disha Patani. The number was originally supposed to be shot in Azerbaijan, but now they will film it in a studio. Some patchwork shoot is pending as well. The makers are eyeing a Diwali release," says a source close to Khan's family.

The duo utilised the time to develop the Hindi adaptation of the Marathi film, Mulshi Pattern, which will be headlined by Khan's brother-in-law Aayush Sharma. "Salman has a special appearance in the movie, which has been titled Guns of North. While the project will tentatively go on floors in mid-July, the actor will join the unit in the last leg. He will sport a beard for his role of a Punjabi cop."

Before joining Sharma, he will train his focus on Farhad Samji's Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali. "The team is currently reworking the dates. Salman has his heart set on the film. After being unable to meet his fans on Eid this year, he wants to bowl them over with his 2021 Eid offering," adds the source.
