One thing people often forget when writing Dream or Analyzing him is his goals, Unification, the destruction of Tribalism Element etc.

Another thing people often forget is how smart the man is. I’m not talking about tactics, though he often does suffer in that department heavily for the sake of plot, no. I’m speaking his long term planning abilities as instead of the man who, to this day, despite months of brutal torture, can still make a legitimate claim of having soft power, he’s often portrayed as a caveman using the power of God as a particularly sharp rock, or worse a Comic Book Supervillain in all supposed seriousness.

Another thing lost to memory is his hate. Dream loves the server and it’s inhabitants, he wouldn’t do what he does if he didn’t care about them on some level, even if he does his best not to let it get the better of his faculties. But people often forget or simply don’t see that in spite of this he does legitimately hate them as well. Hate for betrayal, hate for suffering, hate for self destruction. He loves The SMP but sweet Abbaddon do they make it a Herculean task.

Another thing eaten by the moths is his priorities. The end is the most important thing, the means being feasting on carrion or condemning someone to the Sierra Madre vault? He’ll do it if he believes it necessary. Anything is something to be used in completing the objective, especially himself.

One last thing people forget is his conviction. He isn’t going to stop pursuing his ends because of some cheap or even exquisite emotional manipulation or destruction. He’ll see it through to the end, no matter the cost in suffering or blood. The only way you’d ever convince him to stop is through presenting a better and workable alternative and good luck with that.

People often forget things about Dream, wether they “love” or “hate” him.
