Assessment 2 :700 Statement

Art and design often explore relationships between humans and non-humans, the environment and ecology. How can contemporary art and design propose new possibilities for imagining the ‘human’ and the environment?

Following the increasing number of plastic products and waste, the world is facing serious environmental problems.Plastic pollution involves the accumulation of plastic products in the environment. It will affect wildlife, environment and human. Accurately, everything in the world will be influenced. Plastic waste cannot be avoided because plastic has become one of the popular material that everyone will use. For me, even half of the things in my room are made of plastic. For example, water bottle, hair dryer, charger and hanger. However, the majority of plastic waste are from the packaging staff that made of plastic.The only method to reduce the harm of plastic is recycling or the directly way is to find a new and safety material to replace the plastic.

From my research, there has one work called polluted water cooler art. This work is put many different kinds of plastic thing into the cooler and let the people drink it. In my opinion, the intention of this designer is that he wants people experience the world that has been polluted by plastics. Let them realize the seriousness of the plastic pollution to the environment.

My work is using Photoshop to fill the thing I chose into the background which is full of the plastic waste. This is not only a prediction of the future, but also a warning for people to reduce the use of plastic products. Moreover, it is also imperative to find a safe material that can replace plastic.

My assessment 2 wants to emphasize the relationships between human and environment. My work is a picture that includes five parts. They are animals in the water, plants on the ground, clouds in the sky, human and wave. The sculpture of fish made of plastic near the river inspired me. It wants to show the world is full of plastic and even fish is made of plastic. My work is the same aim. It can be seen the right picture include the beautiful things. However, after the pollution of plastic, everything looks strange and dirty. The scene in the left picture is the situation if we keep using plastic and throw them anywhere.

The first one is the whale. It reported that there were approximately 165 million tons of plastic pollution in the world's oceans in 2002. Plastics in oceans typically degrade within a year, but not entirely. Therefore, a large amount of marine organism is dead because of they swallow the plastic. The second one is the flower, because of landfilling, the soil was badly polluted. Plastics are difficult to break down in the soil. Therefore, the structure of the land is destroyed and it prevents plants absorbing nutrients from the soil. The result of it is the deaths of plants. The third one is the clouds. In recent years, white pollution has become a very terrible situation. Plastic garbage bags are flying all over the sky. The blue sky is become dark due to the plastic. The forth one is human. The places where people live and play are polluted. This polluted environment can even threaten the health and life of human beings. The mistakes we make are ultimately borne by our own. Therefore, my work is warning people to protect environment. The last one is the wave. The work that uses plastic things like bottle caps, plastic wrapping paper, plastic bags and other various waste to create the shape of the waves inspired me a lot. This work wants to use the wave made by plastic to represent that the plastic waste in the sea. Moreover, if we do not take action to reduce plastic waste, the scene on the picture will become real.

Hughes states that only when human beings respect and return to nature can they avoid being alienated from nature and achieve harmony with nature. The relationships between human and environment are mutual. My work wants to warn people of it and make human beings take actions to protect the environment.

How I survived my day with my reckless driver cousin. So here goes how my day went with my cousin. So obviously, I know that he is such a reckless driver. He's my service kase everyday to school with his motorcycle. Normally, the travel time to reach the place where I should ride a jeepney to terminal to calamba is 10 mins if tricycle and 15 mins if I ride to pedicab. BUT my cousin can make it for only 3 mins. Can you imagine that?! Okay so since I'm a brave girl, (Just not afraid to die coz school works suck) it's all fine with me since I also like to speed up my travel time. So we left the house around 2pm. This will be my first time to travel with him ng malayo talaga since hanggang kanto nga lang everyday. Mabilis talaga yung takbo namin, sumisingit sya sa mga trucks, sa mga gilid ng kalsada at nag oover take sa mga sasakyan which is fine with me. Chill lang ako e. It went well naman. Nag dadasal lang ako habang nasa byahe kase hello, feeling ko tinatangay na yung kaluluwa ko sa sobrang bilis ng andar namin. Napapakanta ako ng theme song ng "Ang Probinsyano" eh. Kapit ka sa akin. Kapit ka sa akin. 🎶 Lol. Then suddenly, pag lagpas namin sa belair, (Nissan) biglang naramdaman namin na umaalog yung gulong sa likod. Shit flat na pala. So tulak gaming kame. Ansaya lang. Medyo malayo yung nilakad namin. Nag ka paltos ulit ako. I'm the one who paid for the vulcanizing kase syempre ako yung kasama. While they were fixing the motorcycle, nag meryenda muna kame kase gutom na kame. I bought gatorade and a biscuit. Then nag punta na kami sa nuvali, Fail kase wala yung manager. Follow up nalang talaga yon kase thrice na kameng pumunta don, so cinontact ko ulit yung manager then sabi nya iemail nalang yung questions then i aassess kung pwede ibigay yung info. 2 weeks na namin kase binigay sa kanila yun tapos ngayon lang pala iaasess. Hays. Anyway, na picturan ko naman na yung available space don so sana okay na yon. Nag punta rin kame sa brgy hall but unfortunately wala dun si kapitana, masama daw pakiramdam. Yung secretary naman nasa munisipyo. After that nag meryenda na ulit kami sa 7eleven then nung pauwi na kame nag tapsilog kami libre ni ate Joan girlfriend nung cousin ko. I had fun seriously. Ansaya kase akala nung pinsan ko takot ako sa mga exhibition na ginagawa nya like clapping like a seal while driving, sumasayaw sayaw while singing Havana na mali naman ang lyrics. Hahahahahaha. I had fun. Sana maulit pa but sana wag na kameng masiraan. Sayang 70 pesos ko e. And oh. Napuno ng alikabok yung triple white na sapatos ko. Very nice. 😂
