Dangal actress Suhani Bhatnagar was diagnosed with dermatomyositis, reveal reports

Reports reveal that Suhani had a rash about two months ago, which later resulted in excess fluid being accumulated in her lungs.

The news of the demise of the young Suhani Bhatnagar sent shock waves across the Indian film industry on Saturday. On February 17, after news reports were abuzz about the demise of the teenage star, the reason for this remained mystery. Now, her parents have thrown light on the sudden death of their 19-year-old daughter and revealed that she was suffering dermatomyositis, a rare disease which affected one out of millions in the world.

For the unversed, the Faridabad-based Suhani Bhatnagar was admitted at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on February 7. However, her condition worsened which eventually led to her demise, revealed reports. In an interaction with ANI, Suhani’s father Sumit Bhatnagar mentioned that it all started with her developing rash-kind of issues on her skin, which was later diagnosed to be dermatomyositis. But her lungs started failing which eventually led to her demise.

“She developed a red spot on her hands about two months ago. We thought it was allergy and we consulted with doctors in different hospitals in Faridabad but it couldn't be diagnosed. When her condition started deteriorating, we got her admitted to AIIMS. But there was no improvement and her lungs were damaged due to accumulation of excess fluid," he told.

Suhani Bhatnagar catapulted to fame with her debut sports biopic Dangal based on Mahavir Phogat and his daughters, featuring Aamir Khan as Mahavir, Sakshi Tanwar as his wife, Fatima Sana Shaikh as their daughter Geeta Phogat, and Sanya Malhotra as Babita Phogat. Suhani played the younger version of Babita whereas Zaira Wasim played the younger Geeta.

Suhani, however, took a break from acting to complete her studies and was not taking up any acting projects. Her demise left the entire team of Dangal shocked, and Nitesh Tiwari, Aamir Khan Productions and even the real-life sisters Geeta and Babita Phogat shared their condolences to the Bhatnagar family.

A sports biopic, Dangal totally justifies the real life story of Haryana wrestler who trained his older two daughters in the art of wrestling and turned them into champions. The film delivers a very important message with such sincerity that it just doesn’t overwhelm the storytelling. 

Messages on our obsession with the male child, bigoted stand on bringing up our daughters and the administration’s wretched attitude towards sports, are loud and clear. 

Amir Khan is a pure finesse who can go to any extent to completely erase the boundary which detaches the actor from the character. His deliberate gaits to match with the demand of the role as an aspiring wrestler with muscles and a passionate father with a heavy belly can easily convince you that the movie has really covered an era while making. 

In the male dominant state of Haryana, where the girl child is still unacceptable in most of the families, there cannot be a more important message. The belief that real-life Phogat showed in his girls, as they went on to win honor is definitely setting an example.

Also, Dangal blends humor with intensity. The lighthearted dialogues, peppered with humor and heartrending father-daughter emotions runs throughout the movie. When the first half of the movie shows how the young Geeta and Babita turn into willing fighters from young innocent girls, the second half on the mat tells us how to learn the art of losing, and, above all, to win. Among the high ends of this well-crafted film are the nail-biting wrestling sequences.

But what wins our heart is the not-so-perfect yet so perfect character of Mahavir Phogat. He is guilty of taking away his daughter’s childhood and turning them into the boys that he doesn't have. But his obstinacy ends up breaking all the traditional taboos of this patriarchal society for its own good.

The film also delineates the conflicting points of traditional coaching methods of father versus modern techniques of the system with sheer serenity.

Along with Mr. Perfectionist, a big credit for this sporting saga goes to Fatima Sana Shaikh for bringing the character of Geeta Kumari Phogat, Mahavir's eldest daughter to life. Sakshi Tanwar, as Khan’s wife, is a first-class choice, known yet fresh enough. Her role is restrained but totally compatible with the storyline.

The earthy soundtracks, especially ‘Haanikarak Bapu’ fits just right with the mood of the narrative. 

Dangal is a film that is both inspiring and entertaining. Since it highlights the glorious wins of the Phogats, the film is also bound to encourage more women to seriously take up kushti as a sport.

今記事作成中の2020年９月現在、まだまだ日本未公開（もしかしたらどこかの配給会社が権利だけ買ってるかも知れないけど）のインド映画「Thugs of Hindostan」を妄想ポスター化してみました

このTOH（Thugs of Hindostanの略称）実は以前にも妄想ポスター化にチャレンジしたことがあって、その時は色々とマネしてみたいお手本がありすぎて制作がものすごく迷走しちゃって（生頼範義的な濃い味付けのアドベンチャー風、からスタートして、マカロニウエスタン、ドクターモローの島、と、どんどん方向性が変わった）結果、なんかものすごくバイオレンスで不穏なデザインになってしまってイマイチ不本意なまま完成とさせてしまっていたのでした（ちなみにその最初のチャレンジ版も拙tumblrに展示してあります）

そんなワケで目についたお手本に引っ張られすぎて作品世界の構築に見事に失敗した過去作からの反省、から改めて納得いくように作ってみたのが本作なのであります

ポスターを構成する素材は前回制作時の未使用のヤツを流用しつつ（船とか爆破で吹っ飛ぶ兵隊とか乗馬など）新しくは最近知ったYouTubeのコマ送り機能（以前のはＤＶＤからのキャプチャーでした、画質悪いんですよ）でYash Raj Films公式がアップしてるミュージカルシーンの動画（HD画質！）から拾って採用

大きいトコロの「不適に笑うアーミルさん」だけしつこく粘り強～いGoogle検索で探し出して（イイ感じの探すのって意外と大変）一目で分かる「スケールの大きいアドベンチャー世界へようこそ！」な感じをデザインに持たせつつ

キャラクター同士の関係性、豪華な見せ場、などなど内容説明をデザインに任せた分、惹句は「Thugs」＝「権力に屈しない者たち」＝「服従しない者たち」＝「服（まつ）ろわぬ者たち」と意訳して、あえての聞きなじみのない言葉で作成 邦題もあえての捻りは加えず原題を音���したままで済ませて（「〇〇 of 〇〇」ってタイトルも最近は多いですし）文字情報は「ちょっと不親切なくらいの分かりにくさ」を心がけてチョチョッと済ませて・・・

で、「製作費用がスゴいんですよ！」とか「大スターが出てますよ！」とか本編内容の外側の情報はドバドバとアピールして、全体的には昔の日本ヘラルド配給風を目指してナナメのフォントを使うなどして若干のシャレオツ感を醸してこれにて完成

なお、今回のモチーフは生頼範義氏と同じく映画ポスター界の重鎮ドリュー・ストルーザンです
