久しぶりにFDで出かけた。

前夜エンジンかけようと思ったら案の定バッテリーが上がってたんで充電器に繋いで充電。

翌朝には無事始動できて出発！

国立科学博物館で特別展『昆虫MANIAC』鑑賞。

ついでに、上野公園で『ポケふた』、「チゴラス・ソーナノ」「ヤジロン・ドーミラー」ゲットして帰宅。

走行中の微振動が気になったけど、アッパーマウントがゴムブッシュからピロに変わった弊害だと思ってあきらめよう…

I went out in my FD for the first time in a while.

The night before I tried to start the engine and sure enough, the battery was dead, so I plugged it into the charger and let it charge.

The next morning it started up without any problems and I was off!

I went to the National Museum of Nature and Science to see the special exhibition "Insect MANIAC".

I also got some "Poke Lids" at Ueno Park, "Tyrunt Zanota" and "Yajiron Domirror" before heading home.

I was bothered by the slight vibrations while driving, but I decided to just accept it as an adverse effect of changing the upper mount from rubber bushings to pillow balls...

とりあえず壊れかけたバッテリーターミナルのまま点検終了。

点検待ちの間メカさんとターミナルについてあれこれ… 結果、Amazonで購入し自分で交換することにしました。

EGオイル交換無し＋室内消臭抗菌施工で¥20000少々…

点検後はバッテリーターミナルが外れやしないかドキドキしながらも、ボジョレーヌーボー&おつまみセットの引き取りでセイコーマートまんだな店へ(^-^)

For now, the inspection has ended with the battery terminal still almost broken.

While waiting for the inspection, I talked to the mechanic about the terminal…

In the end, I decided to buy it on Amazon and replace it myself.

No EG oil change + interior deodorizing and antibacterial treatment, it cost a little over ¥20,000…

After the inspection, I was nervous that the battery terminal might come off, but I went to the Seico Mart Mandana store to pick up my Beaujolais Nouveau and snack set (^-^)

The war between SUVs & Sedans. Who wins?

SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) and sedan are considered to be one of the most popular car designs in this modern age. Each has its own set of advantages. Predominantly SUV’s have a rugged and durable appearance that stimulate an urge for fun and exciting ventures whereas sedans generally have a more professional outlook suited for routine usage.

Taking into account different factors like price, size, fuel efficiency, performance and reliability etc, a brief comparison between the two-car designs is presented below:

ADVANTAGES OF SUV

●       Space: As compared to other car designs, SUV’s offer a greater amount of space which makes them ideal for carrying extra passengers and heavy cargo. Having an SUV gives you the levy of carrying ample luggage along with 5-6 passengers who can enjoy more than sufficient legroom. The size of SUV’s makes them preferable for people living outside the cities however city dwellers can also enjoy the brilliance of an SUV with compact designs becoming more popular with the passage of time.

●       Capability: SUV’s are considered to be more capable in comparison to sedans because some models of the latter do not offer the all-wheel-drive feature. Owing to the fact that their foundation is based on strong stalwart frames, SUVs are more durable and resilient and thus much better equipped to withstand severe weather conditions.

●       Visibility: Great visionary experience is another notable characteristic of an SUV. Being in a higher driving position gives one a better view of one’s surroundings and a greater sense of control which provides a safe driving experience as well, adding to the versatility of an SUV.

 ●       Robustness: Having a higher centre of gravity and higher ground clearance, SUV’s are the go-to option for adventurous rides outside the city zone. In wake of a collision, their robustness enables them to withstand collisions, making them safer for you and your family.

ADVANTAGES OF SEDAN

●       Safety: Being much safer and easy to handle, sedans have always been a classic choice for the drivers. Although newer models of SUV are also employing the safety features that were previously limited to sedans the former still does not have the advantage of closed trunks. Having lesser weight, a lower center of gravity and being closer to the ground make sedans perform better around sharp corner and edges as compared to large-sized vehicles. This also alleviates the risk of flipping and rolling over relative to trucks and SUVs.

●       Fuel Economy: In spite of the fact that SUV’s had been the centre of attention because of their low gas prices, sedans still outmatch them in fuel efficiency and mileage. The V-6 or V-8 found in SUV’s are much less efficient as compared to the four-cylinder sedan engines. Some sedans featuring the V-6 engines are still more cost-effective in terms of fuel consumption due to the fact that they have to power lower sized vehicles.

●       Drivability: Sedans are generally lighter relative to SUV’s and are resultantly less top-heavy, making them easier to handle and drive. The smart design of sedans makes them easier to park and move around sharp corners without the risk of rolling over.

●       Budget: When you prefer a sedan over an SUV, you don’t just necessarily be saving money from fuel consumption. The general market price of sedans is much more affordable in comparison to SUV’s. In case you have surplus money, it can be used to buy a sedan with some extra exciting features.

●       Tyres: There is a lot of diversity in SUV tyres. From mud tyres to highway tyres, you can find any specialty tyre. For instance, Falken Azenis FK510 is a high-performance tyre which maintains stability at high-speeds.

So, who won the battle? While the recent market share stats show that SUVs are winning the battle, the advantages of both body style tell us that both are unique in their own ways.
