American Cable Channel 'Cartoon Network' yet potentially shutting down by 2025

ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- Social media abuzzed with a new latest hashtag trend "#RIPCartoonNetwork" on the X Network (formerly Twitter, owned by X Corporation) after a community page called Animation Workers Ignited (AWI) posted and claimed that the Warner Brothers merger-owned cable TV kids network was dead. WBD owns the network and its Chief Executive Officer named Mr. David Zaslav, has been delisting shows across their catalogues to cut costs, despite the company's substantial revenue. However, multiple sources indicate that Cartoon Network in America and regional cable TV kids stations in every single countries of the world will remain available, and there are still projects ahead. For timeshifter channel like Adult Swim in the adult demographic (shortly after signing-off for the afternoon or evening, along the Toonami programming block, will not be affected.

Animation workers, like creators in other professions at CNS are struggling to make ends meet as executives prioritize revenue for themselves and shareholders. The future of animation remains uncertain, but the cable kids network isn't shutting down entirely.

Big memories before the upcoming final broadcast of CN within a few to several years time, as the main animation studio is officially done, and yet, literally bankrupt as a whole. The trend of "#RIPCartoonNetwork" is a big misleading point and turned out false. From "Adventure Time" to "Steven Universe" to "Craig of the Creek", the cable kids channel will soon be the last time, if considered legit to see whether if you're new or current childhood grew up on national american television.

Q being a total mess regarding sleep as a human is something I love. The very confident stance as a lawyer, but also a small sketch showing the stress he is also under. And then there is the invasion of Picards personal space. The hand on Picards shoulders and the way Picard side eyes this is gold.

Ah, mister professional. I love how Picard also has a very confident stance but his confidence is different from Qs. Maybe because Qs ego is pretty inflated and Picards is just made out of solid rock and Picard knows he is good at what he does and Q thinks he is better than others. Saw on your artfight that he is generally defending corrupt companys and that made me realize that consequences this lawsuit especially if successful would have fo Q. Because he is helping a client not really for the money behind it and the ferengi-stand in used to be a former client and maybe Q knows that he might lose his connections and his image of a morally-corrupt corporate lawyer which in turn could lose him a few important clients.

Picard wearing barely anything and completely unaware or uncaring what his lack of clothes is doing to Q.

Breaking and entering how risky but also something that in a rom-com would have no legal consequences since the new couple and Beverly win the case. The age gap is kind of funny considering in canon Q is probably older than earths solar system. Considering how fit Picard is in canon I can see him climbing that fence like a champ while an impressed but also kind of humiliated Q (who would have a lot more difficulties with this than Picard) is just standing there. Because he wants to impress Picard but there is no way he is going as fast up there as Picard just did.

Picard is .. not impressed by how absolutely down bad for him Q is.

And then there is the scene in Guinans bar!

Couldn't help but write something about it:

Jean-Luc Picard to Guinan relief, made a point of not taking Qs clear invitation to sit right next to him by sitting down a few chairs awy from the lawyer. Not really having to wait for his order and already knowing what it is he would want, Guinan made him his usual drink.

Not really taking it personally that he would likely only drink it and then leave due to the man still staring at him, not acting all that discouraged by the neutral to almost cold greeting he had recieved.

'Guinan,', Q said without turning his gaze away from the man currently trying to ignore him 'two classes of your finest Chateau Picard'.

The reaction was immanent.

The hand with which Picard was about to raise his glass to his lips stopped and the widening of his eyes betrayed his surprise at Qs statement yet his eyebrows and the corners of his mouth showed that it was certainly not a pleasant one. Q, who had Guinans attention as any other person who looked like they could end up harassing one of her costumers and friends would, either seemed to compeltely misinterpret the meaning of Picards shock or did not care. Considering the clear self-satisfaction in Qs smile and voice and the way he had seemed genuinly happy to meet Picard here, Guinan guessed that it was the first one.

In Qs seemingly delusional state of mind, he thought that he was being suave, charming and clever by having found out a bit of information about Picard that the man rarely told anyone and that he certainly did not post about in his rather small and barely used online presence. It also was not something Picard talked about in class, certainly never having being the kind of professor that interrupted his own lessons to talk about his personal life. And even when any of his students or an aquaintance did get the former captain to talk about his french origins, Picard prefrred to keep any and all informations short.

And it was not like 'Picard' was a particularly rare name in France. An antire region was called 'Picardie' after all. So in order to find out just which of the many families Picard belonged to one would have to do some digging. Which was just what Q had bothered to do.

Add to this that Q had not only bothered to find out that this was the bar Picard usually frequented but also on what days.

All for a vain attempt at impressing someone who was now very obviously calculating their odds at getting a restraining order against the not entirely self-proclaimed best lawyer in town.

Guinans own reaction to all of this was concern and disapproval. To say that she did not think very highly of Q was an understatement and to see just how interested in and taken with what she considered her closest friend did not put her in a good mood. Especially since by this order alone Q had proven that this was certainly more to the corporate lawyer than just a passing interest.

And Quincy Quinton Quantillian Quirinius Quinn III was not known for giving up, always in the eternal mind set that he was incapable of losing. Something which has undoubtedly helped in his profession and something that his clients usually appreciated. The bartendress did not like what Qs conviction regarding him always getting what he wants could mean for her friend.

Needless to say, this night did not end the way Q had hoped it would go.

But it did not need to since only a couple of days later it was Picard who called Q to ask the lawyer for help.

And he would even eventually prove Qs line of thought that in the end things would always go Qs way.

Bad News of the Week:

The research vessel "Polarstern" was underway in the Arctic for a year with an international crew of researchers and scientists last year. "Underway" in a completely new way: the ship allowed itself to be frozen solid and followed the natural path of the ice without influencing its course. The result is a wide range of findings about the North Pole and its surroundings - Santa Claus' elf workshop, by the way, was not found.

After the scientific evaluation, the first results of the "Mosaic" mission are now being made public step by step. And unfortunately, they are anything but positive. The extent of the ice in the summer of 2020 was only half of what it was decades ago, says Markus Rex of the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI), who led the expedition at the time, on Tuesday during an interim review eight months after the end of the expedition. At the same time, the ice was only half as thick as it was almost 130 years ago. In the fall of 2020, the ice closed much later than ever before.

What does that mean? Only the evaluation of the next few years will show whether the year-round Arctic sea ice can still be saved, Rex said. He warned that should the summer Arctic become ice-free, it could trigger "uncontrolled cascades." Triggering the tipping point that leads to the disappearance of summer sea ice in the Arctic is probably imminent. And is probably unstoppable at all. For the first time an aspect of global warming reaches the point of no return. Unfortunately, I have a hard time hoping that mankind will learn from this and draw the necessary consequences in time.

P.S.: The arch-conservative regime favorite Ebrahim Raeissi has won the Iranian presidential election. That this result was to be expected doesn't make it any better.

Good News of the Week:

Great news from the G7 summit in Cornwall last week: The world's seven leading industrial nations - or rather the Western world's, since otherwise China would have to be on board after all - have actually agreed that internationally active digital corporations will in future have to pay a minimum tax worldwide on their sales in the respective regional sales markets.

It is remarkable that Joe Biden went along with this, since he could have limited himself to symbolic politics - "U.S. America is back in its established structures and alliances". Moreover, this decision is exclusively to the economic disadvantage of U.S. companies, because at last Amazon, Apple, Disney, Facebook, Google, Microsoft and Netflix in particular must contribute their fair share to a social (!) market economy.

Un-fun fact: of all people, the richest man in the world, Jeff Bezos, has been able to count himself so poor in recent years, according to a leak from the tax authorities, that he was actually entitled to a few thousand US dollars in "child bonuses". In the true sense of the word, this can only be called perverse. It's good that such dodges will soon be a thing of the past, at least internationally.

P.S.: The fact that the Portuguese UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was elected for a second term is a good sign. In the last five years, this 72-year-old political oldie has been able to put the emphasis on future issues (climate change, youth, immigration, digitization, de-escalation, etc.) and not just manage the status quo, like his predecessor Ban Ki-moon. Good luck for the next five years!

Personal happy moment of the week:

The day before yesterday my big daughter found out her grades from her Abitur (qualification granted at the end of secondary education allowing to go to an university). With three positive results: on the one hand she has enough points in her horror-subject mathematics not to have to take the so-called Nachprüfung (Re-examination) to reach the obligatory minimum. Secondly, her average is good enough to be able to start her chosen subject of political science at university without having to wait a semester, since she has easily reached the "numerus clausus" level - even if she first takes a "voluntary social year" in a kindergarten anyway. Finally, both mean that she has now made it: school is finally behind her. School's out forever!

P.S.: The fact that and above all how Germany won last night in the European soccer championship against the reigning European champions Portugal gives hope in our soccer-crazy country that our team can free itself from the role of the underdog.

I couldn't care less...

...that the reigning world champions France only managed a draw against underdog Hungary. At least this keeps the tournament more exciting for us.

As I write this...

...I continue to suffer from temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius, as I have for the last week. Much too warm for this time of the year. And not good for nature. And I'm at least one tiny part of nature.

In addition, CCH presses for access to jobs, training, and public schools. National Coalition for Homeless Veterans

ICELAND FLOUTS INTERNATIONAL BAN TO SLAUGHTER FIRST PROTECTED FIN WHALE OF NEW HUNTING SEASON

Icelandic whaling company Hvalur hf has slaughtered an endangered fin whale today in defiance of the international ban on commercial whaling. The hunt is Iceland’s first in three years and marks the start of a whaling season that could see as many as 238 of these majestic creatures killed.

A 67ft fin whale – landed overnight at the whaling station in Hvalfjörður, Iceland – became the first kill of the new season.

Hvalur CEO Kristján Loftsson recently sparked outrage when he announced plans to resume his hunt of the second largest creature on the planet and to market fin whale meat, blubber and bones for iron supplements and other medicinal or food products.

Vanessa Williams-Grey, WDC policy manager, stated: “This really is a paper-thin excuse to keep fin whaling alive. There is no justification for killing an endangered species for any reason, let alone in the name of ‘medicine.’ These whales often die in agony and for what? A desperate marketing gimmick with no proven benefit or safety record?”

For the first time since it resumed commercial whaling in 2006, Iceland’s self-allocated fin whaling quota allows whalers to expand their hunt to waters east of the country.

“Fin whales are highly migratory, endangered and protected by a number of international treaties,” said Susan Millward, Director of Marine Programs for the Animal Welfare Institute (AWI). “The fin whales cruelly targeted by Icelandic grenade harpoons could be the same animals seen by tourists in places such as Ireland and the Azores. This slaughter comes at the expense of Iceland’s own whale watch industry and also threatens the livelihoods of people thousands of miles away.”

Fin whale meat is not popular in Iceland; the major market is Japan. Since 2008, more than 8,800 tonnes of whale meat and blubber have been shipped to Japan, despite the ban on international trade in whale meat under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).

“It is unfathomable in this day and age that a country so well known for its nature tourism is tarnishing its image by allowing commercial whaling to continue in the face of growing domestic and international opposition,” said Clare Perry, ocean campaigns leader for the Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA). “We are urging the Icelandic government to recognise that this unnecessary and unsustainable industry brings no real benefits to Iceland’s economy and to refuse further whaling quotas.”

According to recent tax filings, Hvalur’s whaling has not made a profit for some time. It is the company’s indirect shareholdings in other corporations that allow whaling to continue. Hvalur draws profits from well-known Icelandic corporations, such as IT firm Origo hf. and fishing gear giant, Hampiðjan.

At the same time, public support for fin whaling is plummeting. A 2018 survey by Icelandic polling company, MMR, found that only 34 per cent of Icelanders support whaling, a 26 per cent drop from 2013; 34 per cent of the population actively oppose whaling, compared to 18 per cent in 2013.

Last week, a group of peaceful protesters gathered at Reykjavík harbour to mark the official opening of the fin whaling season and Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir has called for a review of the impacts of whales and whaling on Iceland’s image and economy.

The Icelandic media is also widely critical of the industry. A recent article in the newspaper Fréttablaðið referred to Loftsson’s idea to turn whale meat into an iron pill as “a desperate pretext.”
