being autistic means realizing 6 years too late that the girl who always stood behind you in line in 5th grade wasnā€™t constantly flat tiring you as some sort of in-joke

A friend of mine just said she didnā€™t think Eddie Munson was gay and I had such an insane reaction I donā€™t think I ever have to question if Iā€™m autistic again.

I saw like two/three days ago you posted an ask about you being autistic?
I am not insulting I swear I just would like to know how you got it diagnosed and which traits you have on the autistic spectrum (don't know if it's the right wording or it I've always read autistic spectrum so I'm going with it) cause I never got tested for it but I am pretty sure I could be autistic so again not tryna insult or anything just curious (obv if you feel comfortable sharing it)
it was a lot harder for me to get diagnosed becauae i'm in the south and im a girl so its very "if u dont have these exact traits u arent autistic" so it'll hopefully be easier for you
but i got diagnosed when i was 12, in case it wasnt obvious i have very bad hyperfixations that take over my life and its always kinda been like that? i couldn't talk about anything if it wasn't kpop or history (the 2 ive had for the longest šŸ˜)
i was always very overstimulated and would get angry if things changed and i had to do something differently than usual, i started relying on my friends at school to talk for me and ended up semi-nonverbal(?) until i was about 14.
i was usually passive but i'd go insane if anything happened that i didnt want to so at first my mom thought it was anger issues but we talked to a specialist at the kid doctor i went to. (don't know the name in english, pediatr)
she talked to me for about a month 2 times a week and by the end she was sure i had autism (i fear i never masked either so... it wasn't hard to figute out)
it's totally fine to somewhat self-diagnose if you don't have the recources you need to get a diagnosis but please look into it a lot if you do think you have autism because its possible to have these traits without having autism.
and i didn't think you were being mean, anon! i love answering questions (and oversharing on the internet)

just saw a bugā€™s life for the first time!!!!!!!!
this is some of the most grounded stories iā€™ve ever witnessed. instantly a classic! you know the feeling when you watch a movie from your childhood, experience nostalgia, and mourn for a life that simple, wish you understood to cherish it, and dream if life could be that beautiful again? thatā€™s how this is but now itā€™s NOW!
ergo, this is a movie with righteously grounded, creative, AND intuitive composition, flow, and plotline.
i personally was not urging to think about how the shot could have been more effective, how the storyline should have changed, or dissatisfaction with the overall development in character or overall story! (thatā€™s been a major issue of mine with recent films, that i feel they donā€™t live to their fullest potential and when itā€™s over, i feel like i missed something big. a bugā€™s life did not give me that feeling. itā€™s engaging, grounded, satisfying, and holds wisdom and thoughtful design).
i hope to engage with more stories to the overall satisfaction as this one as more production agencies allow our writers the proper compensation that they need. itā€™s an exciting time, we watch as entertainment hatches out of the lull of inspired cinema into a rebirth of the industry!
from animated bloopers to the core philosophy and conduct of slavery and oppression, i feel empowered after watching this. there is heart at the center and the forefront of this story. power!

hi Ollie! just wanna start by saying I love your channel. your favorite video of mine is the one where you were talking about how you think Will Byers has autism.
you said that you have autism but you were misdiagnosed first and that you thought you couldn't have autism because you had already been told that you don't have it. I was wondering what made you get diagnosed when you'd already been told that you don't have it.
I went to get diagnosed a few months ago but was told that I don't have it. I'm only asking because I genuinely think that I have autism and that it was a misdiagnosis. any advice? also you dont have to answer if its like too personal or something. sorry if its confusing and doesn't make a lot of sense.
also here's a picture of byler kissing to hopefully make your day better! <3

hi hello !!!
thank you for the picture i lobe it!
as for why i decided to retest for autismā€”
it kinda justā€¦ worked out. the more that i thought about it after my first testing came back negative, the more that i realized that i was in fact autistic, & some of the things in document that said i wasnā€™t autistic were objectively untrue & my mom noticed, too.
that was not fault to the tester, she was lovely, itā€™s just that a lot of testers only really know how to diagnose traditional autism in amab people. with being afab, or even trans, autism can present itself differently. i know thereā€™s haha jokes about girl & boy autism but, there is some objective truth there. it also doesnā€™t help testers who have a more deep understanding of the ā€˜traditionalā€™ autism that people who are afab or trans or whatever have a way better time hiding or masking their autism. iā€™d say, when deciding to retest, really examine whether or not you feel your are masking.
anywho, back to the storyā€”
my therapistā€™s office has a child psychologist who specialized in therapy for lgbtq+ youth & occasionally did screenings for things like adhd, autism, among other disorders & neurodivergent stuffs. she was amazing, she was able to work directly with my therapist on parts of the tests & for professional input, as well as used a more friendly test based on experience as a person, not as whether or not you check boxes or act a certain way during certain testing sessions.
the tests it took were the Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Functioning, Second Edition (BRIEF-2), Self-and Parent-Reports & Monteiro Interview Guidelines for Diagnosing the Autism Spectrum, Second Edition (MIGDAS-2), which the psychologist described as much more ā€œaffirmingā€ & ā€œvalidatingā€. by the end of the session she told me, ā€œi usually donā€™t immediately say this to clients, but you are very obviously autistic.ā€
getting that diagnosis was really good because it made people FINALLY start believing me when i said i was autistic. iā€™ve also noticed that itā€™s easier for me to de-mask now because i feel like the people around me now know why i act the way i do.
anywho, thatā€™s my story! like i said, i would just really investigate whether or not you felt like the tester had an inaccurate view of you & if you were masking/how much masking you do on a daily basis.
I HOPE THIS HELPS!!!
