EVENT 015 {SEPTEMBER 13TH - SEPTEMBER 20TH} AURORA BAY’S END OF SUMMER BASH

With schools in town now back in session, it's another summer in the books for Aurora Bay. But just because the days are getting shorter and the holidays are just around the corner doesn't mean the summer fun is over just yet!

Aurora Bay's city hall invites everyone to head down to the beach this weekend for one more blow out to send summer out in style!

Starting Friday evening and into the weekend, the boardwalk will be transformed during the day into a summer carnival, chockfull of games, prizes, rides, and fun for the whole family! And during the night, we invite everyone 21+ plus to head down in the sand where Oasis Nightclub's DJ will be spinning all night.

Everything will culminate on Sunday with a can't-miss performance right on the beach from the band Submergence! So come join us this weekend for one last summer bash to close out the season!

OOC INFORMATION BELOW THE CUT:

in game the event is going on from Friday afternoon through Sunday night, but ooc it'll last the week to give everyone a chance to plot and write!

the carnival will be five dollars a ticket (kids under 5 and under are free) and it will be running from 10am til 8pm.

flying chairs

there will also be all sorts of boardwalk games and of course plenty of food places already around! feel free to use your imagination.

From 9pm until 2am on Friday and Saturday night, the beach will be adults-only (wristbands required) to dance all night! proof of carnival ticket will grant one free drink, with drink specials at our pop-up sand bars all night.

And finally on Sunday night will be a concert on the beach from Submergence! (shoutout to @xaviermattthews and @vanessagable!)

There was some thing about being at the carnival with Juliet that took him back to how everything felt when they were younger. Even though so much had passed between them when he was with her it felt like no time has passed at all. There was still so much he needed to tell her and wanted to tell her, but he knew that there needed to be a time in a place for everything. He didn’t know that he had a timer going on in the back of his head, because he had no interest in being punched by his brother by surprise again. Maybe tonight would be the right time to tell her how he felt and hope she was willing to stick around for all the other craziness in his life. He didn’t blame her if she didn’t, but he knew he had to at least make some sort of gesture, indicating what he wanted and how he felt.

It wasn't something unusual to find Astrid at her job even when it was raining or windy outside. She was working on some dancing moves when she heard a loud thunder sound and then the power went completely off. Astrid imminently grabbed her phone, trying to reach Cris, Amaya, anyone really...but, the lines were down. She turned on her phone flashlight, feeling straight out of a horror movie. "Hello? Is anyone there?" She asked as she felt her hand shaking.

Oasis taking the party to the beach was Camille's favorite event. She hadn't attended the party last month, but she was sure to make it tonight. The shop had been busy as they had partly provided the flower decorations for the event. Instead of getting out at 6pm, she left at 7 which only gave her an hour to get ready. She was in a rush and was out the door by 8:02pm.

Once she made it to the beach, she couldn't help but move to the music as she made her way to the bar. More people were arriving in the moment which was perfect timing because she didn't have to wait as long as others for her drink. With her drink in hand, she made her way towards the DJ booth when she bumped into someone, spilling her drink. "Oh my god. I'm so sorry." She frowned as she looked down at her half empty drink, knowing she had to go back to get a new one. She looked up at who she ran into, "I should've been paying more attention. I didn't get any on you, did I?"

It was a bad time to be a guy with an album called Flood and a band called Submergence.

It was an even worse time to be one that insisted on handwriting potential lyrics he didn't hate in a moleskin notebook that had been through hell and back with him -- hell being rehab, if he was being apt. The worry for it spurred him into a sprint when the whip of the wind around him and the downpour of rain on him started to get heavy enough to be concerning.

Long legs and large strides didn't have far to go to get out of the worst of it, seeking out refuge in the closest establishment that he assumed couldn't turn him away for slipping through the door like a soaked Slender-Man.

There was a shaky exhale that left him as he climatised to being in a slightly warmer and definitely dryer environment, his hand resting over where his notebook was shielded between his t-shirt and his jacket in a brief moment of relief before a new wave of worry washed over him.

Thankfully, the realisation that he wasn't alone forced that to take a backseat in his mind as he shook his hair like a wet dog to rid it of any droplets and tried and failed to resist speaking the first thought that came to his mind.

It definitely wasn't her favorite time of the year. Not only had Daisy been single for the past three years, but she also had very few thoughts about dating and doubted she would anytime soon. Still, all the local shops had set up their stands and Daisy could use a pink latte before work. She was just turning around from the coffee stand with her caffeinated and candy-colored beverage in hand when she nearly collided into another customer holding a big bouquet of flowers. "Woah," she stepped back, laughing awkwardly in apology for almost bumping into them. "Who's the lucky guy or gal?" She cocked an eyebrow at the bouquet. @aurorabaystarter

Kalina had gone to the carnival by herself and hope to run into people that she knew. She wasn’t used to having friends, so she often still would go off on her own and not plan to meet up with people, just because she was always a little worried that, it was a bit pushy. However, as soon as she saw her favorite baker; Kalina rushed over to greet her. “ Liza! “ kalina replied, with a bright smile on her face. “ I haven’t seen you in a while but you look so amazing! How are you?” She rambled as she finally caught up to the other woman. She did think Liza looked amazing and while she found pregnancy kind of scary and weird. She was more than excited for the other woman, and for the journey, her and Wes were on.

Ever since Harris had talked to Rina about reforming the band; he felt like he wasn’t so stuck in town lately. It gave him something to do that he loved again and to get in touch with his passion for music. There’s only so much she could do with his free time when half of it was spent at work lately. He wasn’t sure if you wanted to talk to Lara again soon, because he had some severe issues that still needed to be dealt with. And he knew what Rina would say about talking to her again. But there was one other person that he still needed to talk to and it was pretty lucky that he saw Mack in passing at the carnival, right when he had the idea to speak to him. “ Mack!” He yelled out; see if the other male would hear him

EVENT 012 {APRIL 19 - 28} ANNUAL SPRING GARDEN FESTIVAL

It's that time of year again! Aurora Bay's Botanical Gardens will once again be hosting its annual Spring Garden Festival!

For the past eleven years, Aurora Bay has held one of their most famous events in April, hosting a flower and garden festival to celebrate the end of winter and the arrival of spring! The botanical gardens are always decorated in beautiful fairy lights, topiaries, and of course, some of the most gorgeous flowers you've ever seen!

Each night for a week, residents of Aurora Bay can buy their ticket for admission to the Spring Garden Festival held at the Botanical Gardens. All day there will be vendors selling art, jewelry, clothes, etc. There will be live music, food, dancing, and even a little wine and cheese tasting for the adults!

There are plenty of things for children to do as well! There's always face painting, games, and since this year the festival lands during Earth Day, there will also be educational booths for children and adults alike to learn more about gardening and nature and how they can help take care of wildlife and keep the planet clean!

This year as well the Botanical Gardens has dedicated an entire section of the garden to a sunflower field, perfect for photo-ops!

And like every year, around sunset, everyone will meet in the center of the garden by the fountain and count down from ten to zero and the lights displayed all over the garden will be turned on!

Here are a few new things to look forward to at this year's event:

pick your own flowers and diy bouquets (or succulent terrariums!)

picnic field with food and drink vendors

crocheted flowers for sale

tethered hot air balloon rides to oversee the entire garden and the town!

tie-dye clothes with flowers

henna and glitter-ink temporary tattoos

wine and floral liqueur tastings with charcuterie board accompaniments

Held at the Aurora Bay Botanic Gardens, residents and tourists alike can join in for the festival!

If location owners want booths for their businesses, contact the main and let us know! some examples of booths can be pressed flowers, paintings, jewelry, floral drinks and foods, etc.

along with booths, if any shops (i.e. the bakery and the flower shop) want to post specials and have their storefronts decked out, feel free! no need to ask permission.

please keep in mind the entire town will be involved in some way, so please feel free to have characters mention the floral décor all around town!

You may post fun floral outfits for your characters during the festivities! please tag everything associated to the event as aurorabay.flowerfest, as well as tagging our aesthetic page so we can reblog them!

Gavin had moved back to Aurora so he wouldn’t miss any of the major childhood milestones with Bennie. The fact that he had missed so much with Hindley was something he wanted to make up for. He knew he couldn’t exactly let everyone know immediately that he had another child, but he still wanted to make memories with his son and show Carrie that he was a good dad. “ so have you taken him to many carnivals or is this something new for him?” he asked as he looked at the mother and child. “ I want to make sure he has a good time today and not doing anything he doesn’t like.”

Kaede had a mountain of ride tickets left and his daughter had put herself in a food induced nap. While Layla was six, she was a pretty tiny six which meant carrying her around the venue was easy. He needed to offload some of the tickets if he could cause he didn’t want them to go to waste. “ hey, did you want some of these? I’m not sure when my sleepyhead here is going to wake up and want to ride some thing again and I would hate for the tickets to go to waste?”
