DeFi Protocol Hack Drains $455K from Arcadia Finance

Share this article DeFi protocol Arcadia Finance fell victim to a code exploit, leading to a significant loss of approximately $455,000. Following the alert, Arcadia Finance quickly confirmed the breach and suspended the affected contracts, attempting to stymie further loss. We are aware of a potential exploit in our protocol. The ETH, however, with a value exceeding $103,000 at the time of reporting, remains static in the suspected hacker’s wallet. Arcadia notified its community on Twitter that it is in contact with the hacker, looking to utilize its community and security options for a quick resolution. aaaaaa...so not only did I officially run out of steam on my Radiant Dawn playthrough (I’m genuinely dreading returning the dawn brigade, especially��if I’m going to be fighting greil inc. or anyone other group I’ve controlled), but...well with all the fewth hype I started a hard/classic 3H playthrough...initially just to pick at...but now I’m honest-to-god just playing it.

aaaaaaand it’s been really fun to come back to after having played so many of the other games. obvs it was the first FE game I ever played, like so many people. And I had no idea what I was doing. even after obsessively playing it for over half a year, I hadn’t really gotten much better. I guess maps initially took me longer / more tries, but even after I got faster at clearing them, I don’t think I ever completed a hard mode run, and only maybe once or twice an easy/classic.

but now I’m moving along! part of it is not relying on divine pulse, yes. and because of that I freaking love divine pulse. on my earliest playthroughs it felt like just part of the scenery, now it really is gratifying to know I planned a turn to be executed perfectly, and then lost a unit or byleth died, and...I don’t have to start at the beginning of the map? like I said I definitely think it was what was handicapping me from getting better, which is why I’m only a better player now after having played the gba and tellius games...but now it’s a time-saving tool instead of a crutch.

but I think the other part is that in classic FE you’ve got less flexibility with your units, so you learn to use what you have. And because of that, I’ve got a much better sense of team composition now. I was initially going to recruit four students from other houses, but after realizing two of them were really only for a paralogue and a particular story beat, I gave up on them, because I’d’ve had to sink too many activity points / gifts / etc. into recruiting them, and I’m really focusing on my core group so that I’ll have a team of badasses by the end. I’m still having to make decisions about who’s getting exp based on particular power gates; I recruited Constance to get the relic from her paralogue, but I don’t intend to use her after that because I’m up to my ears in magic users, but I still had to feed her some exp. And I had to just take a couple members of my core house and abandon them altogether, because I need most of my house to be able to pass that hunting by daybreak map, but I also want my adoptees to be viable post timeskip.

I know I’m just describing a 3H playthrough, but it really was fun to come back and have a hard/classic run feel just as achievable as I remember an easy run feeling. I can’t imagine I’ll ever play a maniac mode map, even in this game...but we’ll see. Maybe I can test it on casual. Can you even play casual on maniac? I’m a long way off from that so we’ll see.

=sigh= so yeah...I’d still say Path of Radiance is my favorite FE game, followed by Blazing Blade. Awakening and Fates are in a weird limbo bcs they’re so weird for FE games, and I haven’t had the desire to revisit them, but maybe someday.

So just for my benefit and no one else’s, I’m wanna look at where I am on each game...

1-3: Will probably never play. At least, not till I’m like 80 or something, and bored out of my mind with whatever future VR / brain-chip-implant-gaming-system version of FE will be out. There’re remakes of these already. Heck 3 is a remake of 1. I’m not saying that doesn’t make each game a different experience, but a large part of why I play is the story, as much as I’m coming to love the gameplay.

4&5: ...still scare me to death. but. There’s a good chance I’m gonna pick up 4 soon. Just dip my toe in and see how I feel. I figure at least the early maps must not be as interminably long as the rest are. I honestly might have written it off altogether, but it’s so beloved by the fanbase...I gotta see some of it for myself. Then maybe I’ll get to 5 who knows.

6 I’m stuck on the Arcadia map -_- by stuck I mean I tried it once and died quickly and didn’t try again and played a few more chapters on RD.

7 OBVIOUSLY a fav. Completed once on normal. Started a new file, was hoping to play Hector’s route, but haven’t come back to it.

8 I think I’m on like...the penultimate map or something. I literally was blazing through it when FEH released the Tellius babies banner and I jumped ship to play Path of Radiance for the first time. Speaking oooooof....

9 Completed once on normal, have a second file going since my first one wasn’t compatible with the region version of RD that I have. Never finished second playthrough though, so my RD playthrough has no transfer data. Speaking ooooof...

10 Stuck in the middle. Really kinda bogged down, but really want to finish out of loyalty to PoR.

11 Actually have a playthrough of this started as well. It’s....interesting to see everything stripped back so much. Probably wouldn’t’ve been if I hadn’t played the GBA games first, as this is even simpler than those. I do want to finish it, I’ll just probably finish the two other GBA games first.

13 Is this Awakening? I think it must be. Yeah, this is in “I enjoyed it at the time but I have no desire to go back to it atm” limbo. Finished once on easy/casual.

14 The only route I ever finished was Revelations. Same situation as Awakening, I enjoyed it at the time but I can’t give any kind of feelings on it rn.

15 I think I’m...maybe only halfway through this? I honestly keep forgetting it exists.

16 so after all that...this is probably still my third favorite. On track to be the first FE game I’ve ever completed a hard/classic run on. Although perhaps “hard” is more like previous games “normal” here. idk what the discourse on that is.

The University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) has begun construction on a new 90,000 SFT Classroom Building designed by LMN Architects on a central site adjacent to the Library along Library Mall. The project will be the first new classroom building on campus since 1967 and will provide additional active learning space with 2,000 seats in 5 lecture halls, 3 active learning flat-floor rooms, and 20 flexible classrooms. The Classroom Building is designed to be a porous structure that opens at every face to welcome the university community, intertwining the life of the building with the surrounding campus and spectacular natural environment.

The building’s site and design represent a major step forward towards the goals of the University’s Long Range Development Plan, anticipating the eventual extension of Library Mall to the south and realizing the eastward extension of Pardall Mall, ultimately linking several of the campus’ most significant shared buildings along these major public spaces.”

The project comprises two main volumes surrounding a central circulation corridor that runs east-west, linking the extension of Library Mall to Science Walk. This open-air paseo interconnects the functions of the two buildings’ masses, providing outdoor terraces, stairs, bridges, and collaboration spaces designed to encourage serendipitous interactions and collaboration among students and faculty. The intensity of use of the building’s many instructional spaces will activate the building throughout the day, extending the vibrant social and academic cultures of UCSB throughout the building’s vertically arranged public spaces.

On the exterior, the building presents two characters of expression. A taught, vertical façade system comprised of high-performance-concrete panels and vertical windows clads the outward-facing elevations, establishing the building massing as clear framing elements along the adjacent campus spaces of Library Mall and Pardall Mall.

Facing the building’s internal public spaces, the building takes a radically different form by sculpting the shared exterior terraces with a more loose, organic formal language, driven by the efficient planning of the lecture halls within. The resulting formal and material qualities of these spaces take inspiration from the local vernacular architecture and the adjacent seaside cliffs, recalling the sedimentary sandstone in its curvilinear, polished concrete block walls.

Taking advantage of the Central Coast of California climate and the views to the Pacific Ocean, the building acts almost as a vertical extension of the adjacent campus spaces. This same thinking is brought inwards to the building’s teaching spaces, featuring material and color palettes inspired by the campus’ unique natural setting. We have strategically integrated natural light in every room, and on the upper floors have created seminar rooms that feature views out to the lagoon and ocean beyond. This is a design that could only have evolved out of this iconic campus and stunning natural environment.”

The four-story ensemble broke ground in February of 2021 and is expected to be completed in 2023. LMN Architects has designed over 140 projects on 47 campus in the United States, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Center for Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington in Seattle; the Voxman Music Building at the University of Iowa in Iowa City; Edward J. Minskoff Pavilion at Michigan State University in East Lansing; and the Clemson School of Business in Clemson.
