"anytime. see you soon," he says, winking at you.

"How soon?"

His grin widens. Did you really just say that? You squeeze your eyes shut, wincing. You can almost hear your mother admonishing you for such brazen behavior.

He steps forward, closing in on you, and you smell the sharp scent of his magic. His fingertips graze your cheek. "not soon enough," he answers, his voice low.

He's gone when you open your eyes. You look around for him, but in the low light, you don't see him anywhere. How does he do that? He must be a lot faster than he looks.

When you're quite sure he's nowhere near you, you reach out to the Echo Flower and touch one of the delicate petals. 'not soon enough,' it whispers to you several times.

so. at some point during october, while i was brainrotting over @neroli9's APJFM (again, if you're alright with reading very explicit nsfw, cannot recommend this fanfiction enough. if not, trust me, it's not your cup of tea) and i thought about how in her fic, there are vastly different perceptions of her mafia!Sans. and i decided i wanted to do a short series of pieces portraying these very different images of him. you can see all 3 of them below the cut!

Dead Eyes, the freelancing skeleton gangster, feared by even the cruelest gang leaders in New Ebott.

Just Sans, Reader's relaxed content companion enjoying time with his girl after a long day.

And finally, Sans, the haunted man forever grieving the loss of his dear brother.

Before and after pictures of sans from APJFM. I imagined him like this when he is out searching, detective wise, for people and other clues. First one can be interpreted as dead eyes and the second could be when he got home, finally got to chapter 68.

They're wonderful, thank you! They really bring home how creepy it would be to be some sort of gangster in underground New Ebott, just going about your illicit business, and boom, Dead Eyes would like a word with you. For the most part we see the sides of Sans that he wants to show to Reader -- the funny, affable, even vulnerable side. That makes it all the more fun to get a glimpse like this of his external persona. I really appreciate these, thank you again! 🥰

I love these all so much 😍 One of the best things about writing this story is seeing how people interpret all these characters, and I adore all of these drawings! Reader's adoring look... Sasha comforting her forsaken sister... Jerren in a toga... and of course the farting dog. This is wonderful ❤️ Thank you so much!

(Also, if there's anyone out there who thought "gosh I wonder what the cylinder turns into and if it is sexual in some way" well come on over, you're the target audience.)

It is a criminal offence that my ENTIRE page is not just A Puzzle Just For Me fanart, an amazing fic by @neroli9. For my MC here I just used my previous post for the fic, found here. Watch the tags, since there is a lot of NSFW- BUT oh my god it becomes so much more than the already amazing (and really conflicting) romance that it was. It has a super intruiging and volatile villain, a plot that keeps you on your toes and really fleshed out, lovable side characters. Not to mention the discord community is the friendliest I have ever come across! Literally doesn't get better, favourite of all time here.

Over on my Discord server, monomori created all of this lovely APJFM fanart! (With a bonus mothfell Sans.) Sans being the tightly wound kind of guy he is, I just love imagining him actually relaxing and enjoying life for whole minutes at a time. (And Reader looks super smug, as she damn well deserves to look.) Also, I do believe this is the first piece of Babyface fanart and I think it’s amazing, he totally looks like a callow youth that will 100% smash your face in if you get his sundae order wrong. Thank you monomori 🥰 It’s been so long since I got fanart, I am so happy right now!

As long as I’m here, hi, yes, still working on APJFM! A little behind schedule, but still making progress. Things are not all that great for our heroine at the moment, I’m afraid.

Look! Look at all my glorious, beloved side characters! (Well, one of them thinks he’s the main character.) monomori created this collection, and it made my day! We’ve got Gracie and Jack at the top left -- and my thought process when I saw them was something like “aww they look so cute maybe I shouldn’t have killed him” followed by “eh he looks like a twit it was OK” 😂 Jerren top right, thinking that as the real hero of the story, he’s entitled to a page of drawings all of himself. Sasha in the middle, expressing her feelings toward the real hero of the story. Jasper the Nice Cream guy, his ears shooting up. (In APJFM he and Burgerpants are Jasper and Finn, but for the life of me I never remember which one I named which and have to look it up every time.) Lottie and Archie bottom right -- Lottie looking adorable, and Archie trying so hard to take care of his little corner of the city oh my God I love them even more now. Ionathia and Adaleia bottom left -- Ionathia looking gentle and elegant, Adaleia looking like the world and everyone in it is a great disappointment to her. (Which, in my imagination, is how Adaleia looks like 96% of the time, so A+++ work there.)

As much as I love Sans and Reader it’s wonderful to look at fanart without either of them, and remember all these fun characters I enjoyed creating and writing! We’ll see more of them when I start posting again (I hope that’ll be the end of this month, we’ll see.) Thank you monomori <3

Wow! Thank you, this is incredible! I love the smirk on Jerren’s face, and Sans’ glowing eye. Using the city to express the way Sans and Jerren echo each other was really effective. There’s so much literal and metaphorical truth to Jerren being in the sunlight of the Surface, doing exactly as he pleases and believing himself to be in the right, while Sans is in the darkness of the city, considering himself to be beyond help even as he also acts as he pleases. This made my day, thank you! :D

I’m glad you are enjoying APJFM, and as I forgot to put a status update in 51 this is as good a place as any for it: I’m hoping to have chapter 52 up before the end of the month. Depends on how much writing time I get, but it should be a shorter chapter than the previous one at least.
