Okay so a while back I discussed that some episodes changed in the Hero Chat AU. And I wrote a post detailing the changes to various episodes.
However, I recently realized that some episodes of Season 2 would’ve changed too. And that my original post on Season 3 didn’t include Weredad.
So here’s the episodes that changed and why/what changed.
Queen Wasp:
Let's start here. Basically the ending is the place where things change. Instead of encouraging Chloé to continue being a jerk in an attempt to please her abusive mother, Marinette tells Chloé that she shouldn't have to do that, that the situation's fucked, and that Chloé deserves better and can decide for herself to be a better person or not.
Chloé finally has the breakthrough of the idea that she doesn't need Audrey's love, and that even if her attempts had worked, that's no longer the kind of person she wants to be.
Marinette respectfully declines Audrey's invitation to New York. Because as much as she wishes she could punch Audrey, she knows that could have several consequences. Audrey is unused to someone declining her, and resolves to stay in Paris to try to convince Marinette to take the internship.
This really hurts Chloé, but she doesn't blame Marinette for Audrey's actions.
Malediktator.
Chloé is still reeling from the events of Queen Wasp so she's a bit quieter and not really enjoying the glory like she was in Canon. So she doesn't make that video thing.
Other people are still talking about Queen Bee and Queen Wasp though. Some people make various comments along the lines of "ugh she was being such an attention whore! Obviously she stole the Bee Miraculous because Ladybug would never think someone like her could ever be a Hero."
Both Adrien and Marinette shut that shit down quick. The class actually listens because Mari isn't using her usual "let's be nice and not insult people even when they annoy us" voice but her "you guys are being assholes and I won't stand for it!" Voice. Which is a voice she usually only uses toward Chloé, not when defending her.
Alya asks Marinette about it though, because why is she suddenly defending Chloé of all people. Marinette is basically like "remember how her mom was? Can you imagine what you'd be like if every conversation with your mom was her insulting you and not bothering to remember your name?"
Alya gets the picture and feels a little guilty. Marinette also tells her that she and Chloé had a conversation about that, and Chloé is deciding to stop trying to get Audrey's nonexistent love and is going to work on being better. She also reminds Alya to be patient because it's a process.
When Chloé gets home, her dad notices she's upset. Trying to help, he gives her various gifts and offersto use his power as Mayor to 'fix it' like usual. Chloé snaps at him, telling him that won't help this time. Feeling powerless, he gets Akumatized.
The Akuma fight is the same, pretty much. Though Marinette's hesitation about giving Chloé the Bee again is less about thinking Chloé is "worthy" and more about the fact that Hawkmoth might target her if Queen Bee comes back. Also when Chat is acting like a cat, he hisses at Audrey and tries to scratch her.
Post-battle, Chloé talks to her dad and tries to explain a little better that this isn't a problem he can just magically wave away. It needs to be worked on. Unfortunately he gets the idea that she means the whole family should spend more time together so she and Audrey can get along. It's frustrating but Chloé appreciates the effort.
Catalyst/Mayura
The biggest difference is that when discussing their good deeds for Heroes' Day, Chloé doesn't mock anyone, and instead of saying "uh, I am a Hero?", she says her good deed is to work on being nicer to people. Some classmates are skeptical but oh well.
The "bee signal" also doesn't exist, and Chloé is only teasing toward Chat when he shows up to give her the Bee.
During the fight, Chloé is only worried about her dad being Akumatized again, not her mom. Also, while Dark Cupid does hit her, I have headcanons about Chloé's emotions being complicated and mixed up enough that she's sort of immune to Dark Cupid.
She still becomes Queen Wasp again, but you know.
At the picnic, both Alya and Nino have come around to the idea of Chloé being better, having fought by her side as Heroes. Chloé is actually attempting to nicely socialize, and they help out. So do Mari and Adrien but that's after the "everyday Ladybug" thing. Which Chloé laughs at because identities!
There are two bonus scenes after this. One is Marinette convincing Master Fu of her plan to add more Heroes.
The second where Ladybug and Chat gather the Heroes and tell them that, because Hawkmoth has upped his game, they will be getting their Miraculous permanently. Although they tell Chloé that to protect her better, she needs to pick a new name/costume and pretend to be her replacement.
Weredad:
Finally to the Season 3 episode I forgot. Anyway.
The initial fight with Gigantitian is a little different. Part of the bakery does get destroyed, which sends several of the Heroes panicking. But Ladybug assures them she saw Marinette get out safely.
Anyway. As there's more Heroes, someone else returns August to his mom, pacifier included.
Meanwhile, Chat goes to check on Marinette because even if Miraculous Cure fixed it, she could've still been hurt. Because Chat isn't looking for Ladybug, just Marinette, he doesn't begin to connect any dots and Marinette doesn't panic and fake confess.
Marinette's parents walk in on a worried Chat fussing over Marinette's safety. Now is when Mari and Chat panic, trying to explain what Chat's doing there but making it kinda sound like a secret relationship thing.
Tom invites Chat for dinner, and he accepts, much to Mari's confusion. Chat explains that it's hard to say no to the dinner, but they can also explain better then.
There's a scene between Tom and Sabine while cooking where Sabine points out that the kids didn't say they were together, and Tom explains that while he'd be happy for Marinette if it was, it's not about that. It's more about how he saw exactly how young Chat was, and how young the other Heroes are. The dinner is planned to be partly a potential "meet the boyfriend", but more of a "hey kid if you need some place to go we're. Here for you". That gets Sabine in on the thing.
Chat comes to dinner and things are a little strange. Tom's questions are less "what are your intentions with my daughter" and more "what's your home life like?".
Eventually Chat says the thing of "while Marinette is amazing and someone would be lucky to have her, even if I weren't in love with Ladybug, I would have to turn her down because it's dangerous for Civilians to be close to the Heroes because Hawkmoth could use them."
Instead of being upset at Marinette's heartbreak, Tom's anger over "how dare children be forced to be Heroes and have to deal with the possible threat toward anyone close to them!" Comes back, and that's what gets him Akumatized.
Weredad isn't trying to just protect Marinette. He attempts to put all the Heroes in the cage of vines, wanting to protect them from having to fight anymore.
The Heroes still defeat him, and Tom apologizes for the irony of being Akumatized and attacking them because he wanted to protect them. He still offers the "if you need an adult in your life feel free to drop by!"
