More Balan Wonderworld - This Time with More Positivity

I’m almost done with the main story of the game - I just have Chapter 12-2, the Hooverton boss fight, then the Lance boss fight - but I wanted to give more of my opinions on the game, this time focusing on level designs and the costumes. *Note that I don’t have all the costumes yet and I haven’t unlocked the Act 3-s of the chapters since those are post-game. I also don’t have the Balan costume because I keep losing my three-badge Tims in my sea of 100+ Tims, which you need the three-badge Tims to breed and give a King Tim to “sacrifice” to the Father Tim statue on the isle. This is a long post, so I’ll put everything else under the “Keep Reading” button so it doesn’t clog up feeds. Hope you guys enjoy this!

First off, here’s my top five favorite level designs:

1. Chapter 9 Act 2

I am a sucker for carnival/circus-themed levels in games, so this haunted house-style level in a chapter revolving around a circus clown is absolutely my cup of tea. The rotating hallways scared the shit out of me every time - mostly because I didn’t know when they’d start rotating, then I realized it started right about half way through - and the large room with falling platforms actually managed to make me jump. It’s a really fun level and I loved it a lot.

2. Chapter 8 Act 1 Did I ever mention I love ice worlds? Yeah, I love ice worlds. Not necessarily for the gameplay of sliding around willy-nilly on ice, but for the simplistic beauty you can get from snow falling and ice statues. This level is gorgeous every time I walk through it, and while having the Seal Skater is a must in this chapter, it still made me feel like I was walking in a winter wonderland.

3. Chapter 10 Acts 1 & 2

Kinda cheating with this one since it’s just the entire chapter, but I absolutely loved the MC Escher-style level design in both of the acts. Optical illusions are so impressive to view, so getting to essentially walk around in an Escher painting was a thrill. I found myself looking around in awe at just how the different perspectives could alter the reality, and I really enjoyed it. This is also the only Chapter that makes it so you can’t fall out of the world, so that was a major blessing.

4. Chapter 6 Act 2

This is where Cass Milligan’s chapter turned full-on Alice in Wonderland, and I was living for it. The travel through portals had been a feature since Chapter 1 Act 1, but getting to actually freeze time and roam around was exhilarating, especially when I needed a breather after getting ambushed by Negati. It’s filled with Tim Traps, though, so you have to be on your toes to make sure the Tims don’t get grabbed.

5. Chapter 3 Act 2

I really love flying around in levels. I’m scared to death of heights, but when playing video games, I really enjoy the prospect of flying. While Chapter 4 is literally focused on Haoyu and his ambition to fly, I enjoy Chapter 3 Act 2 more because of the level layout. Don’t get me wrong, the open skies are amazing, but seeing the hollow trees, towering mushrooms, green foliage was so beautiful when flying around in the dark with the Dusk Butterfly. It was absolutely breathtaking.

Now, time for my top five favorite costumes. I’ll add some honorable mentions, as well (I didn’t do honorable mentions for the levels because I didn’t really have many favorites outside of those five... and Chapter Twelve sucks right now. I only recently beat Act 1 because I kept dying right at the floating platform bit near the end and ended up rage-quitting after ten consecutive deaths in the same area):

Honorable Mentions:

Iron Apollo - This little costume, while slower than molasses, was extremely helpful when I didn’t have Double Jumper. It can fly just as high as a double jump, which was how I managed to get Fixer-upper and Sickle Slayer.

Flame Blaster - I haven’t used it much, but oh my Lord, I love how brutal its attack is. I also love the added bonus that it’s immune to lava and fire, because dear God, Chapter 11 was a nightmare to get through since I kept losing my Water Blaster costume.

1. Frost Fairy

I feel like everyone and their dog really likes Frost Fairy, and I can’t blame them. The design is beautiful, the stair-jump is really helpful, and it’s just an overall useful costume to have. It’s fitting that one of the most beautifully designed costumes is the signature outfit to one of my favorite characters, Iben Bia.

2. Air Unicorn

Yeah, Air Cat is good, but Air Unicorn upgrades Air Cat so you can walk for double the amount of steps. Air Unicorn is not easy to get, but it’s absolutely worth having for Chapter 12 (so far - remember, I’m only through Act 1 of Chapter 12) and is a really good costume if you have to go back to Chapter 9 Act 2 going statue hunting. Also is it me, or does the design for the Air Unicorn look really similar to Starlight Glimmer from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic?

3. Merry Ghost

I found out just how amazing this little guy was when I went back to Chapter 6 Act 1 to go statue hunting. While the Merry Ghost can’t attack Negati, it can avoid poison hazards and fly up those collapsing stairwells you can find throughout certain levels. I legit had to pause and laugh in disbelief when I found out that, when I was using Soaring Sheep to climb the stairs, I could’ve just stocked up on Merry Ghosts in 9-2, come back to 6-1, and go about my merry way (pun intended.) It also looks like the Pokémon Mimikyu, which makes this little ghost boy extremely cute to me.

4. Iron Panda

If you’re scared of falling off the edge with the Tackling Bull or want something that can actually jump while destroying stuff (Box Fox, lookin’ at you), I definitely recommend the Iron Panda. It helped me get the Paladin Puncher without me risking a plummet to my demise, it’s really useful in other chapters as usually you can find statues in areas only the Iron Panda can get to, and its design is just... it’s so dorky. I love it.

5.Itsy-bitsy Elf

This guy was definitely a challenge to get, but once I got it, I had a lot of fun with it. (When going for the costume, I recommend using Slow Tortoise to slow the blocks down, then just bolt back and forth with Slow Tortoise if you want to stockpile the costume.) Its design is absolutely adorable, the little doors it travels through are a bit disorienting but overall enjoyable, and its smaller than your Tims. Imagine being in the Itsy-bitsy Elf costume and hugging a Tim; that’d probably feel like heaven.

I did indeed XD And had a lot of fun doing so – one of my favorite NaNoWriMo projects, back when I participated in that!

Hehehe, I see – and yeah, I like those too, as you probably guessed by the whole “Secundus” thing. XD One of my new projects, “Valicer In The Dark,” is kinda turning into one of those too, honestly – I mean, it was already pretty clusterfucky, given that I’m throwing characters from the American McGee’s Alice games and Corpse Bride into the setting of an RPG I’ve grown to love, Blades In The Dark – along with a bunch of OCs based off the coasters at the Alton Towers theme park, because I fell in love with their The Smiler coaster at the end of 2021. And, more importantly, Victor fell in love with them, so… XD But yeah, now I’m also adding in characters from Fallout 4, the Sims series, and of course Doc and Marty from BTTF. It’s going to be a very interesting world once I’m done with it.

That particular clusterfuck AU with all the world chunks thrown into a new dimension DOES sound hella complicated O.O I don’t blame you for wanting to start by drawing the map – it sounds like trying to figure out where everything is, how it all fits together, and what areas have which characters you’ll be focusing on is exactly where you want to begin! There’s a fuckton happening right from the word “go” and – yeah, I sympathize with everyone running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Except, apparently, the – inklings? *blinks* Okay, I know they’re from Splatoon, even if I don’t play that particular game, but – that was a crossover that I was not expecting. Then again, I don’t know what I’m expecting from this idea. Other than delightful, delightful chaos as various worlds and cultures and time periods collide. XD

Ooooh, interesting, interesting – I am intrigued by this. And awww, that’s – well, I’m glad she won’t be alone, but poor Sunny, sounds like he’s having it rough too. :( (And yeah, of course – Alice wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest to learn that his Headspace is different from her Wonderland. Though it would be neat if they could visit each other’s spaces and find out how they work.)

LOL, yeah, I’m not surprised they’re only hinted at at the beginning – as you said, everyone has a lot more important things to worry about than romance! Like figuring out what the hell all this new technology is and all that. XD The culture shock will be amazing! Once they’re over THAT, then we can have shipping goodness.

I join them in this ???? XD I mean, does getting randomly thrown around in time and space happen to her a lot, then? Sounds like a rough way to live...though she does seem to be magic, so is this a spell gone wrong, or… ? Questions, I have them.

I mean, this is fair – she is stuck in a time period where sanitation isn’t the best, street food should probably not be trusted, and arsenic was thought to be relatively harmless if you used it as a dye. (And I seee – LOL, well, if it’s who I think it is, he’d be happy to help her out with the local magic so she can feed herself, sure!) And LOL, hey, I would be panicking internally too! She is allowed to panic over this weird-ass situation. XD

Huh, I see… Well, to be fair, Alice can be pretty prickly too when you first meet her. I think it’s kind of a defense mechanism for her, given she’s been surrounded by such horrible, shitty people for so long. Once she realizes that Manami is genuinely a nice person, she’ll be willing to show a softer side for sure! You just need to get over that initial hurdle...and LOL, yeah, she and Victor would NOT know what to make of “floor time.” Though Alice might join her just for the hell of it. “I mean, it’s no worse than any other therapy I’ve tried.” XD

*snrrk* Yeah, that just about sums it up between Manami and Victor, huh? Victor is not used to people being all :D at him – especially not women, and especially not unmarried, unchaperoned women. Like, sure, that KIND of happened with Victoria, but – we see how that turned out for him. He might be a little intimidated by her at first as he tries to get his bearings – but give him some time and he’ll finally relax!

Oh, is she? Well, at least she’s well-prepared for dealing with Victor, then. XD (And awwww, I see, that’s cute. :) Can’t split up the soulmates! And I know very well that Victor and Alice are open to the poly, though given the time period, there might be some anxious “hang on a second, a multi-person relationship? Is this really allowed?” stuff going on first with them. But yeah, get past that, and Manami and her guy can join the Greater Valicer Polycule, no problem. :p

Oooh, nice! Something for her and Victor to bond over – well, once he stops being somewhat overwhelmed by her enthusiasm. XD But he’d like having another pianist to talk to. :D And I believe Alice would be open to learning, though she probably wouldn’t get too far while she’s still suffering from the worst of her Wonderland hallucinations. Too many mental distractions for the lessons to stick!

Speaking of the hallucinations, Cheshire’s reaction to that would be “well, if that isn’t proof you can’t actually see us” (given he’s basically just skin and bones, no fur to be found XD). But Alice would not mind having someone else help her tell off the Wonderlanders when they start bothering her! And Victor would appreciate someone else doing it as well, because sometimes he feels weird, talking to nothing. XD I also love the idea of Manami playing that song and talking about Stella the minute Bumby starts telling Victor the Land of the Dead doesn’t exist – anything to annoy the shit out of that asshole. XD (And yeah, I bet he gets mad when Manami starts actually helping them with their problems – he doesn’t actually WANT them to get better, he wants to wipe their brains so he can use them for his own ends. Because he’s a monster and fully deserved being shoved in front of that damn train. >( )

*snrrk* Because you’re the best option they’ve got for help right now, Manami! XD Though Doc probably understands the difference, but still. And yeah, that’ll be fun, I’m sure. XD Though hopefully once she realizes they DO come from a different timeline, she can relax about potential “spoilers,” because who knows how things went in the BTTF universe compared to her own? (I mean, we already know they got a much different 2015…)

*snrrrk* Yeah, that’s a great example of different-timeline culture clash there. And Marty’s just like “…” while Doc is super intrigued by this small portable computer that’s so different from all the ones he’s seen, even in the future – why, it doesn’t even come with a fax machine! XD

Venting your frustrations by forcing them on your OC, eh? I know a bit about how that goes XD Marty is like “you know, we’re not the ones who brought you here – I’m, like, 95% sure. Right Doc?” XD You’ll survive, Manami!

It’s fine, I can get really rambly when the mood strikes me too. XD But it sounds like you’ve had a lot of fun with these ideas already! Wish you all the best getting them properly off the ground!

Helo yes, I just want to say that I found your Forgotten Vows verse again, and also your Secundus verse, because of @thesatiricaldemon 's "Beneath A Broken Sky" and all I have to say is:

(And hey, don't dismiss that "afterthought" idea -- my ORIGINAL idea for an Alice: Madness Returns / Corpse Bride crossover after the release of the former was for them to meet after Alice killed Dr. Bumby and Victor had gone through both the "corpse bride" incident and its aftermath, but while I was sorting out that, I had a stray thought of "but what if Victor's parents hadn't believed him and instead sent him to Dr. Bumby to force him to forget the whole thing...and we see where THAT ended up. XD)

I like idea of him having parrot

Would have to take care of one for a favor and she would annoy him by repeating what he says

Would just scream at her and she would scream back

Somehow she learns his riddles, he would say that it at least makes her smarter

By the end he gets too attached and adopts her, names her Riddlrina (listen I have no clue what to choose)

Would take her to his plans and make her her own tiny mask

Would give her honor of asking riddles first

First time it happens Batman thought he got stroke

So proud of his birdie, would hug her and make her toys

Gets depressed in Arkham without her so Batman ask for permission to let her in; for the first time Ed doesn't hate him

Scarecrow

I am between crows liking him and crows hating him (cause you know, Scarecrow) so I decided for enemies to friends crow

Basically crows never liked him but he saw injured crow lying by the window of his house and just decided to let him stay

Crow absolutely would peck him and it would drove Jonathan crazy but he took him in so he takes care

Slowly when Crow's wings starts healing he starts realizing that Jon is helping him

Becomes more friendly and even let him pet him, It's pretty nice

When he starts flying around the house Jon decides it time to let him go, kinda misses him

Then one day while walking home some crow starts attacking him and while trying to get them to leave some other crow shows up and attacks the first one

After agresor flies away other Crow just sits in front of Jonathan turning his head, when he lets him pet himself Jon realizes it's his crow

Just takes him home and names him Poe

Would take him on his heists and Scarecrow has Crow sitting on his arm now; Poe would get him some information if needed by stealing it which,by the way, Poe would sometimes bring random shiny things

Jon would teach him to talk some E.A. Poe quotes to scare the shit out of people

Mad Hatter

You would probably think white rabbit or cat but MH in Alice books had a friend in March Hare so when he saw hare hanging around his lair he was so excited

It seemed he was used to human interaction cause he didn't run when Jervis approached

Gets very friendly when he is given salad and hops into Hatters lap

He could cry

Thinks of name and just decides to name him March

He doesn't really accompany him since he is scared of loud noises plus he might be too friendly with foes

After taking him in he realized that, like original March Hare, he's kinda crazy; would jump from wall to wall; Cannot find him? Probably on top of a dresser

Would just sleep tight as ball to wake up, starts running around the room just to jump onto Hatters lap and fall asleep again

Loves him so much

If March doesn't like someone they cannot be Alice

Makes little hats for him to wear and tells him what a beautiful gentleman he is

I didn't want to also give him a parrot so I thought of animal who uses singing but I'm not giving him a fucking whale

Would go to Sea World and saw him there, his voice was so southing that he just stayed in his area listening until closing time

Goes there more often and sings to whale which turns out he likes and starts to recognize him

The thing is SW has problem with abuse so after realizing his new friend is victim he makes new place to put him and uses his power to transport him there

He wanted to name him after some artist but he really liked name Bubbles so whale name is Bubbles Patrick Larson (shout-out if you know these 2 references)

Just plays with him and pets him, gets diving equipment for it

Batman again couldn't believe what he was seeing, after defeating him he lets Bubbles into ocean

Problem is Bubbles actually liked MM so he is close to shore and just cries for him, not only is it heartbreaking but also annoying

It got so bad that even Aquaman gets involved and say Bubbles should see MM

Batman is just defeated and let them meet

No one tries to release Bubbles again, if he wants to swim in ocean MM just makes henchmen do it

Same anon here, thank you!!! Do you have any specific worlbuilding in your story? Are you only playing with the disney princesses or do you have other disney characters mixed up? And I loved how you made this HUUUUGE plot twist with Cinderella! Are you doing the same with the next princesses? And about the side stories!! Are there more to come? I'm sorry if I'm being annoying, but I'm so loving all you do!!

My, these are important questions xD This is way too long to answer normally, so I'm writing all you want to know under the cut! I'm sorry, It is really long. I apologize in advance :')

If you have some spare time and are curious about this stuff of my legacy story, check this out. It my explain some things, hehe.

1. WORLDBUILDING

There is a "complex and connected" universe in this, yes, but I do not limit a story to the same sim world. I imagine certain game worlds as specific areas with their own social problems, forms of government and characteristic population. Still, I jump from world to world using specific lots or scenery places thay might complement the current chapters or, if I happen to need it, I'll rebuild the whole world again for upcoming generations if I'm already done with the previous ones.

For example:

In Snow White (the H.E.A. founder) the story developed in Windenburg and Windenburg only. Not even the whole world was used for the story, only three lots (The White Manor, Eis' cottage and the flower shop).

Cinderella and The Princess and The Frog develop in Willow Creek, but it's not the same Willow Creek. The only permanent lots are the royal palace and a couple of residential lots (the Tremaine and Bonfamille manors), but I redesigned the whole world for each arc. Ella's story took place in a more high-class victorian part of the kingdom, and Tiana's will be in a New Orlean-ish, humble zone with some vip spots. The townies are different and the social situation changes as well. I'll be also using specific locations from Windenburg, implying those scenes are still having place in some other unknown part of Willow Creek.

In some upcoming generations, I'm merging worlds into a whole area. In Rapunzel and The Beauty and The Beast, Glimmerbrook, Granite Falls and Henford-On-Bagley, as well as specific Windenburg areas, share the same territory.

This is a bit confusing, but it works for me :'D So far, this is how I've organized the story world in the save (mild spoilers):

Willow Creek + Magnolia Promenade: Kingdom ruled by a strong monarchy. Population: Humans and Hybrids** Connections with: Britechester, Newcrest.

Oasis Springs + Strangerville: Emirate and local mayoralties. Population: Humans, spellcasters, undercover aliens. No near connections.

Brindleton Bay: Mayoralty. Population: Humans and Hybrids. Connections with: Henford-On-Bagley, San Myshuno (not that close, but reachable).

Mt. Komorebi: Parlamentarism. Isolated area of the mountains. Population: Humans. Connections with: Granite Falls (veeeery lightly).

San Myshuno + Del Sol Valley: Presidency and Mayoralty. Population: Humans and undercover occults (Gods**, Spellcasters, Hybrids). Connections: Newcrest.

Windenburg: Parlamentarism. Population: Humans, Hybrids, Vampires. Connections with: Henford-On-Bagley, Glimmerbrook, Granite Falls.

Sulani: Principality and local chiefdoms. Population: Humans, Mermaids, Gods. No near connections.

Forgotten Hollow: Mayoralty. Population: Vampires and Spellcasters. No near connections.

Selvadorada: Republic. Population: Humans, Hybrids and Spellcasters. No near connections.

Evergreen Harbor: Mayoralty. Population: Humans, undercover aliens, cyborgs. Connections with: San Myshuno. If there is ever a future-like pack, it will be related to this area.

Britechester: Grand Duchy. Population: Humans. Connections with: Willow Creek, Windenburg.

2. CHARACTERS

I will mainly play with the "princesses", yes! I'm following these Disney Legacy Challenge rules as a main guideline, so the heirs are related to that. Even so, they won't always have the same looks or gender like the cartoon ones, nor the spouses. Since I'm a nerd, I try to surround the heirs with familiar characters from their stories, but they might be ooc or don't have the same role as they do in the movies. I just want to create the vibes, but give them my own twist!

I thought it would be fun to create a Disney movie themed save for this challenge, and I'm stil adding recreations of a lot of characters thay may fit in the world. Since I really enjoy rotational gameplay, I thought it would be fun to create mini challenges for certain households and play them aside from the main legacy to have a little change and relax. Buuuuuuuuut every single time I play this game a story pops up in my head, and yes, so far there is one side story with some of the minor characters. I'm afraid my save has turned into a graphic feverdream disney fanfiction, but here we are :'D It is important to say I also play with the EA premade townies, so this is a weeeeirddd mashup :')

Since I have the characters roaming around freely, they also interact with the main legacy and, in some cases, they even gain some importance. In Cinderella's case, I never planned Mr. La Bouff to become Ella's friend. My original plan was to have Tia and Lottie meet at university. Also! I created two fake occults: the Hybrids (think of were!Sims. Like Werecats, Werefishes, Werewolves, Werebirds... you get the idea... it'll be properly explained in the future. No, they don't turn into animals.) and the Gods (squish vampires, mermaids and spellcasters together. Now make them OP and immortal).

So far, I've included characters from:

The Aristocats, Finding Nemo, Peter Pan, 101 Dalmatians, Tarzan, Robin Hood, Alice in Wonderland, Coco, Pinocchio, Big Hero 6, Lilo & Stitch, Hocus Pocus, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Jungle Book, Toy Story, Cars, The Emperor's New Groove, Atlantis.

I had the intention of presenting them all and giving them out for download. I've been slowly makeovering them, so I hope I can manage to do so in the near future.

3. STORYTELLING

The plot twist was kind of a happy accident xD It wasn't planed at all! It's just I find it not-that-exciting to retell the same old story again and again. Cinderella is poor and mistreated, but then marries the prince and she's happy. We all know that, right? I don't intend to follow the same path... I need chaos to keep me entertained in my own game xD that's why I went like "welll.... what IF the prince is a bit of an ass?" I didn't see the whole load of drama that would come.

In the upcoming chapters, things are being similar. I don't say everything is going to be bittersweet, but I'll take elements from the main story and shape them differently. I'm taking a lot of creative liberties here!

4. SIDE STORIES

Im so glad you like them!! I get attached to my characters as soon as I start playing with them and can't help myself from giving them a story, even a little one. It's like... they're in my save for a reason, right? Not only as townie fillers, even if that was the main purpose in the beginning. It's safe to say there is one WIP side story with the Tremaine descendants involving some of the characters I mentioned before. I have another one in mind, but since it is not related with the main legacy at all I'm still not sure how to include it... but I'm working on it.

You can bet I'll keep telling these silly little stories because I really can't help it, hehe.

Cullen Family HCs

I’m jumping on the twilight renaissance train

Smeyer is wrong and vampires can sleep, they just need to sleep like once a month.  

Esme is the favorite pillow of the Cullen house.  She has an adjustable standing desk so she can work on the couch while one of the boys naps with their head on her lap.

The kids have seen some messed up things already in their immortality.  Carlisle and Esme leave their door open and any given night, sleeping or not, 1 to 5 of the kids stand a good chance of moseying in and settling down for the night.  They’ve had to upgrade to a California king so Emmett doesn’t squish the girls and Edward doesn’t kick Jasper off the bed again.  

If Esme is in her and Carlisle’s room, Alice and Rosalie tend to join if they’ve had a long day or just need some comfort.  Emmett is a snuggler and will absolutely worm in between them like a newborn litter of puppies.  Seriously they needed the bigger bed, Carlisle has come home from the hospital to find Esme happily covered in teenagers just reading a book or patting their hair while they vent.    

The kids have all called them mom and dad in some form at some point.  

Alice calls them mom and dad around the house pretty frequently, Rosalie calls Esme mom, and though very rare, calls Carlisle dad or father.  

Emmett calls Esme ma, mom, or mama.  Absolute mama’s boy, he hugs her when they get home from school and gives her a kiss on the cheek when they leave in the mornings.  He is the most frequent couch napper,   followed by Edward.  He loves going to the garden center with Esme to pick out plants for her flowerbed and to carry bags of dirt.  He calls Carlisle dad and pops and has supplied half the sweaters in the man’s closet.

Jasper tends to call them ma/mom and dad/pop like Emmett.  They know he’s had a day when they’re in their respective home workspaces and he comes to sit on the floor by their chair.  Esme will pat his hair and ask if he wants to talk about it, and if not she’ll show him what painting or blueprints she’s working on; Carlisle knows he’ll talk when he’s ready and gives a firm few pats on the shoulder, asking instead some philosophical question to take Jasper’s mind off of whatever it is. Of all the kids, he’s the one most likely to end up at the foot of their bed instead of the middle.  Though not always touchy, he likes being nearby.    

Esme can tell Edward has had a day when he hugs her and just buries his face in her shoulder.  Though less frequent than Emmett or Alice, he calls her mom when addressing her and mother when speaking of her to others.  Likewise, he calls Carlisle dad and pop, but father to others. He loves his parents so much.  He lives off of ruffled hair and departing hugs.

If  they remember their birthdays, they celebrate on that day.  If they don’t, they use the day they were turned, or joined the family, or just a day they like and that’s their new birthday.  Whatever the birthday boy/girl wants to do, it’s done. They’ve been to Orlando and Hollywood theme parks, and international counterparts, so many times for birthdays.

Emmett and Alice love Disney and Pixar, Rose and Jazz love Marvel, Edward loves Harry Potter.  They rotate choice for movie nights.  

Since Esme uses the Ashton Martin when she needs it, it’s Jasper’s turn for a car.  He gets a big truck.  Bella’s truck has jealousy-filled nightmares about Jasper’s truck.  Emmett likes riding standing up in the bed pretending to be king of the world. It’s black with tinted windows, and Emmett made the mistake of putting his feet on the dash once.    

Jasper and Emmett get to go out when the winter weather’s sunny because they have cowboy hats.  Jasper got Emmett his first pair of cowboy boots.  Rosalie hates them.  

Seriously they throw on some flannels, jeans, their hats and boots and Esme lets the yeehaw boys whenever they want if they behave (jackets are only if humans will question not having one).  

Jazz and Em blast country music to mess with Edward.  If they’re really annoyed with him they’ll sing along.  New Moon saw lots of country music.

Mother’s and Father’s day are sacred in this house.  The local garden center employees know to expect shortages the rest of the month because the boys come clear out most of their flowers for Esme’s garden.  The hospital knows to expect Carlisle taking off because the kids are not above stealing him from his office.  

Carlisle and Edward didn’t really do Christmas until Esme joined the family.  It was always such an effort to try surprising Ed, and then surprising Alice when she and Jasper had their first Christmas with the family.  Now that Bella is around it is profoundly easier to have surprise presents again.  Alice and Edward help their parents decorate the house while Rosalie, Emmett and Jasper pick out a tree and bicker over who gets to carry it inside.    

There’s an egg hunt every year and these kids are so competitive about it.  Alice and Edward are forbidden from using their powers to cheat, and Esme and Carlisle switch off hiding the eggs while the other goes over rules; they have to run around the area a few extra times to make sure the kids don’t find the eggs by scent alone.  These things are hidden in the car wheels, the garage, on the roof; anywhere on the outside property is fair game.  

If you thought Jacob, Seth and Leah were any less adopted after breaking dawn you would be wrong.  Leah and Jake help Rose on the cars, the boys all wrestle with Seth in the yard and Esme always has plenty of food in the house for them.

There are always plenty of extra clothes in the house in case the wolves need them.  

Carlisle can never find the sweater he wants to wear because Esme, Edward and Jasper steal them.  Rose and Alice frequently steal Emmett’s sweatshirts. Someone goes to pick up one of Emmett’s sweatshirts off the couch and Alice pops her head out of the head hole when they grab it.

Despite being immune to the cold Esme still likes bundling the exasperated teenagers up, tying their scarves before they leave home.

One time a Karen was bad mouthing Esme when she and the kids were in a store (something about being a gold digger doctor’s wife and using five foster kids for the government money) and that is the first time they saw Jasper go at someone for something other than blood.  That lady got a hateful and quite corrective earful because that is his mama, thank you very much!  The glares of the Cullen brood make the Karen feel like she’s being hunted after that.

A more civil but no less threatening correction is given to anyone who implies to Dr. and Mrs. Cullen that they aren’t the father and mother of their brood simply because the kids are adopted.

5. Alice in Borderland (2020)

The last recommendation for this year-end project is Alice in Borderland. I guess I would be a big ugly liar if I didn’t include it in my list, because, honestly, it met all of my expectations and even more.

Alice in Borderland is flagged +16 for a few reasons. There are many drastic visuals in this drama. The games characters take part in are supposed to be a psychological torture, so we can expect deadly, bloody and gory scenes, which are definitely not for everyone.

The Netflix’s jdrama is a breath of fresh air for my mystery/thriller/psychological-loving heart. One sunny day, Arisu and his friends find themselves in a creepy and empty area resembling Tokyo. They are forced to participate in deadly games to extend their visas before they’re up and avoiding being killed. The theme of playing cards mixed with traumatising games was crazy interesting, keeping the viewers on their toes. We are informed that different symbols mean different types of games. Arenas that distribute ♠️ cards mean physical games, ♦ - intelligence, ♥ - psychological, and ♣ - cooperative.

We meet a few characters, whose names are a well-thought-out reference to Alice in the Wonderland: Arisu, Usagi, Hatter, and Chishiya. Arisu is the main character of the show, a clever young adult who likes playing video games, but doesn’t know what he wants to do in life. We meet Usagi in Borderland, during 5♠️ game, and she made a very strong impression on me. She’s a fit woman who used to do rock climbing with her father. Her strong determination to clear games and survive in that hopeless world is very admirable. Hatter is the ray of hope Arisu and Usagi meet in a kind-of second act of Alice in Borderland. He has a theory that when the players will collect a whole pack of cards they will be able to get out of the unfamiliar world. He may not be the most likeable character, but there's a method to his madness. Chishiya is the charming asshole of the show, whose speciality are  ♦ games. He’s willing to do anything to get his way and people are just a means to an end for him. Another character I must mention is definitely Kuina. She’s blunt, straightforward, adorable, and, what is more important, my favourite of the whole bunch. Intense and relevant characters are hell of a strong point of this drama. All distinct characters are well-built, with an exhaustive background story, which makes us like the presented characters and symphatise with them.

I don’t really like the policy of Netflix and the way they split up dramas into seasons. The reason why I’m watching Asian dramas is for the fact that I sign up for 16 hours or 10 hours of good fun with a plot that has a beginning, climax and resolution I can obtain while watching new episodes for 8/10 weeks (or binge watching in one sitting), not a hostage situation where I have to wait for 2 years to even get info on a second season (cough Love Alarm cough) or even get the show I like discontinued in the middle of solving a mystery (not an Asian drama, the Society!!! tf Netflix, istg).

In the case of Alice in Borderland I decided to watch it despite my problem with Netflix because the trailer looked super interesting - I think I wouldn’t be able to stop myself from starting this show - and that Alice in Borderland has a finished manga I can turn to after finishing the series. Perfect conditions

Fortunately, the success of Alice in Borderland on Netflix was so big that we will be getting a second season. Even though I read the manga and I know what is the deal with borderland (and roughly what is going to happen in future games), I am still curious on how they are going to turn it into a drama format, what are they going to modify/skip and how the actors will perform, so I can guarantee I will be there when the new season appears on Netflix.

2020 will be over in a few hours. I feel fortunate that my family members are still safe and healthy. For all of you who felt miserable this year, who lost their jobs, who experienced many tragedies, I’m here for you and I empathise with what you went through. You did well, you survived, and you are here with us today, despite all the hardships life threw at you. I am so proud of you. 

At this point I don’t even know what to wish you for the upcoming 2021. I am aware that our problems won’t magically disappear with 00:00:00, and none of us will be freed from worries the moment 2020 will turn into 2021. I still support all of you who promise themselves the ever-mocked “new year, new me”. Even if it didn’t work out in 2020, I believe you will turn a new leaf with a new determination gained from old failures. Let’s work hard and meet in a year to share more positive ideas with each other.

OK so strange journey thoughts I'm confused about the womb of grief and empyrean ascent.

Like it's established the womb of grief is where mem aleph imprisons the people who are against her (so Law gods mainly, but also Amon* who IG is a chaos demon who's just not in her specific camp)

(*Amon is interesting bc he's the only boss you don't fight, he's the one Alex fights. And like oof do I have words abt Alex as a character but it's like entirely not her fault she's so badly written, like she basically exists to be "every future you chooses sucks" but with noooo nuance. But anyway love that Amon's wikia states "He procures love and reconciles controversies between friends and foes" I think it is a fun tidbit Alex just attracts guys who she tried to kill who like her despite this fact.)

OK so I get why the player had to fight all the Boss demons each level to get the cosmic fruit fragments bc both video game logic IG and also IG that they needed to be in the hands of someone safely in their law camp/a human who is easy to manipulate but that demons can't get to easy, but if they're the demons who controlled who can pass through each level then like why such a big deal truly.

the concept being that the wise men's power was sealed away and split apart and "put under protection" (words of Lucifer in Chaos redux route), but the people who were guarding them were all the Boss Law prisoners and Demeter was like explicitly on good terms with them even as they were like. killed by the protag

Also if the 3 wise men were theoretically imprisoned how did they get to their weird blank board room in Sector Eridanus, like they escaped prison but were weakened? Or?? But then why is their empyrean descent, basically their Law Domain(TM) at the heart of the womb of grief. either it's been a while since I played and I just didn't pick up on all the lore and I'm missing something or it for realsies doesn't make sense.

The wardens of the womb that you fight are all #girl chaos demons, so very explicitly in Mem Aleph's camp and fits with the mom feminine divine thing. Maria being the last boss i'm still kinda confused on but like at least thematically IG it works or something. Also the 3 wise men merging into Shekhinah is very #gender, same like how Mem's empty form is a fetus with like a classical greek old guy head. Like most things in smt i don't get it but I am looking and it compels me somehow.

And TBH on just a larger level trying to understand the themes of each of the sectors...like sections A-D are representing human vices i guess, while E is sort of the utopian illusory ideal of what earth could be without human pollution (following the wikia), so kind of an alice in wonderland mirror parallel world.

It also being where the Vanishing Point, Oroborus, Yggdrasil, and 3 wise men have their base all serving to embellish this area as like the central plot where we go from extended exposition to Shit Picks Up difficulty jump representing both that you're no longer ignorance of the stakes but also a turning point is coming in where you're going to fall on this cosmic war. Also personal comment but the wormhole they can escape back to earth to being called the Vanishing Point is just something so fun I think. Something something perception perspective parallel lines working to create the illusion of depth in a 2 dimensional space.

Sector F is rly interesting in that it's so. Meta, both on a gamer level but also with the whole Great Will thing, and the idea that (according to the wikia) it "Represents the Schwarzwelt in its original state. It resembles a massive computer, collecting massive amounts of data." So the idea of like. technology mimicing biological processes (following the theme of humans as a virus in that specifically eco-fascist way strange journey has going for it) which in term loop back to technology. I think it's interesting! It being where i think tiamat refers to it as like, a garden or something? where seeds are planted and reborn and it being where the old bosses come back and are shown in what is like closer to their "true" more pure form.

That it's the Schwarzwelt in it's original state but it's sector H that's like true origin of Earth, I think the implication of the Schwarzwelt as not as natural a phenomena as claimed by the supernatural parties but something manufactured as part of this ongoing cosmic war is also again pretty fun I think. Or i could just be completely reaching and pulling this out of my ass, never know!

Sector G I genuinely don't get like...we never see the true face of it it's just kind of uh previous sectors remixed! The illusions thing I guess being metaphor for this where you make your alignment choice and secure what ending your on, so all about perception and there being no true "reality" because all judgements are based on the limited information available in a given moment. Or alternatively with sayyy, the Law and Chaos factions making their bases literally on alternate subdimensions right on top of one another, that very confrontation of self and the other identity formation lacanian boundary transgression kind of thing. But who knows!! Not me!!!!

Persona 5 Strikers/Scramble

So! I finished the story of Persona 5 Strikers and I wanted to share my thoughts as I have soooo much to say but cannot share with my friends due to spoilers :’) I am currently playing on a New Game+ as, ya girl wants the Platinum Trophy :o

I will talk about some of the things that I really liked here (Spoiler free don’t worry) AND include spoilery things under the cut so I won’t ruin the experience for anyone else!

The Plot

Obviously this takes place after the original Persona 5 story finishes and as opposed to a whole year, you just get 1 month with the Phantom Thieves. I really liked exploring all the cities you travel to and the character interactions were so cute!! I really like the two new characters introduced (Sophia and Zenkichi Hasegawa). Both of them fit the story so well and their interactions with the other Thieves are honestly so good and pure! Also?? Their outfits? Amazing T_T It was such a nice change seeing everyone in casual outfits as opposed to their school uniforms!

I also loved the fact that you could choose to play with characters that get introduced late game like Haru for example straight away. I for one, always have her in my party as soon as she’s available so having her for the whole game was like a dream come true haha. I’ll talk about Sophia and Zenkichi a bit more under the cut but I will say that it’s so fun to play as them! I personally prefer Sophia more as she has healing skills which are always really useful and she uses yo-yo’s for her weapons which are so fun to use. Zenkichi uses a great sword which is very Final Fantasy of him and I am loving it. I love their Phantom Thief outfits! Sophia looks super cute in her floofy coat and boots and Zenkichi just looks so cool! His hat is goals, I want one T_T

The anime cutscenes in the game are also... Omg... I just can’t help but fangirl over how everyone looks... ESPECIALLY SOPHIA OML, she’s so... Bby... And of course, the dialogue options you can choose are so funny, then again what else can you expect from a game that had the option to say “you jelly?” to Ryuji.

I won’t spoil the main plot but this game works similarly to Persona 5 in the sense of, you still go into dungeons but these ones are a lot shorter and when you leave the dungeon, the days don’t actually move forward, only specific story points advance the days. So essentially if you wished, you can stay and grind for as long as you like!

The Gameplay

I won’t lie, as expected from a hack-and-slash it gets quite chaotic at first if you don’t fully know what’s going on but you get used to it pretty quickly! The game gives you tutorials whenever anything new appears and you get the hang of it pretty well by the first dungeon. You still only have 4 characters in your party and Akira must always be present but here you can actually run around as the other party members when the battles are over! Also? Morgana gets comical sound effects when he does things like jumping and running and I was LIVING for it.

The other thing that changed is, obviously it’s not turn based so if you were like me and wore the SP restoring accessories to get 7SP back each turn, you’re in for a last surprise! In this game you actually use your items quite a lot as there isn’t a limit to how much you can use as you access them mid battle by pausing. Later on you get specific skills that restore your SP after each battle or by performing All Out Attacks and 1 More’s so honestly, SP isn’t really a problem for regular battles. I mainly found it running out quickly when I was fighting some of the optional bosses but I always had SP restoring items so it was all good hehe.

You still do things like All Out Attacks and 1 More’s in this game but you also do something called ‘Showtime’ which is very similar to the ones introduced in Royal only in Strikers it’s for one character, you basically build up the showtime gauge as you battle enemies and, once activated, you deal significant damage to stronger enemies like bosses as well as all of the enemies in the area. The All Out Attacks also have their own little animation with your party posing and just looking really good!

Yusuke being so extra is honestly such a mood omg... Also Mona T_T So smol.

Every party member has their own special quirks such as Ann and Makoto applying Fire and Nuclear affinity respectively to their regular weapons, Morgana turning into the Mona car and so on. I personally always had Haru and Yusuke in my party and kept switching between the other Thieves to see what I like best. Personally, I really like having Morgana or Sophia as they’re really good healers, Morgana obviously having the more powerful skills such as Mediaharan and Salvation.

Also... The menus... Omg... If you thought the Persona 5 menu was stylish then you will LOVE the Strikers menus. They’re so stylish! And I love that all the Phantom Thieves are there too, it’s so cute T_T

The only thing I don’t like is the game doesn’t pause when your controller dies so uh... I may or may not have died during a boss battle when I was like 2 hits away from winning and then just... Stopped moving letting the boss hit me with a killing combo :)

To be honest though the party that I had pretty much all the time was:

But as I said, I liked to change Morgana and Sophia around every now and then.

The Music

Omg the music. Atlus really just said: Hey what if we made Persona 5 music again but like... More epic?

The song that plays right as soon as you have control of Joker is SO. GOOD. I legit had to pause for like 5 mins just to jam out. I don’t think it will come as much of a surprise but in my opinion, Persona 5 definitely has one of the best video game soundtracks, I absolutely love all the songs!

I will discuss some of the dungeon themes in the spoilers but I absolutely love the soundtrack for this game. Every dungeon theme is so fitting for said dungeon, I genuinely listen to them all the time, especially when doing my research for my essays!

The battle music is really energetic as opposed to the jazzy feel from the original Persona 5 soundtrack but it’s very fitting for the actual battle as you often fly all around the area instead of standing in one spot. I will say, Last Surprise made an excellent comeback despite being an already amazing song which is just, amazing, incredible, fantastic...

Other things

Well, I can’t go into detail due to spoilers but they deadass put a JoJo reference as well as a character in the game :’) The moment I saw them I was fangirling so hard!!! Also? The villain designs in this game??? Amazing. Beautiful. Very creative!

The Phantom Thieves interacting with each other is also really cute! I ESPECIALLY liked the fact that Morgana and Ryuji got along a lot better! They still had small fights here and there but they pretty much apologised to one another straight away which I really liked! Also? Ryuji protecting his friends, especially the girls? Amazing. Wonderful. Cannot help but stan.

Well, that concludes the non-spoiler section which.... Is kinda long haha, Below the cut I will talk about the spoilery things so I advise looking at it AFTER you finish the game!

The Plot

The plot of this game is really fun if you ask me. You travel around Japan defeating Monarchs in Jails AND you get to experience the joys of summer vacation with your friends and your new Persona dad. I really like the fact that you don’t advance time when you leave the Jails because this gives you the chance to grind as much as you want before tackling harder fights like some of the optional bosses. The boss designs themselves were so good! Especially Alice?! My God? She’s beautiful?? Look at her!

Persona 5 Strikers said you can be horny on main... Just this once o_o. She literally steps on Joker in the Jail which o_o Ma’am... Plz but she ALSO steps on her manager in the real world.

I really liked all the bosses in this game because they felt so... Real? Obviously I don’t agree with them for brainwashing people into worshipping them, but I really like how the game gave them backstories that showed why they strayed away from the right path. The fact that the Thieves tell them that they understand their struggles because they themselves went through the same thing (Like Ann and Yusuke) honestly made me appreciate the story that much more. I really liked Haru’s little arc in Sapporo because not only did she help Mariko Hyodo and show her that despite mistakes you can always stand up and start again, but she also got to have more screentime, like that cute fountain scene she has with Akira! ALSO? The Hee-Horde?! I was laughing for a solid 5 minutes when I saw it! It was so cute how Haru, Sophia, Ryuji and Yusuke were so into it while Futaba was just there like: ????

I think my favourite Jail out of all of them will definitely have to be the Kyoto one, a.k.a. the Jail controlled by Zenkichi’s daughter, Akane. Despite how short it is, you can learn so much about her. The overall aesthetic of the jail shows her love to the Phantom Thieves and in the actual Jail theme you can hear fragments of ‘Life Will Change’ and ‘Wake Up, Get Up, Get Out There’ which I think is absolutely amazing! The boss fight for this jail honestly took me 3 tries to beat as the first time, I died due to not fully getting how Shadow Joker worked, and the second time, I was about 2 hits from beating him but then... My controller died :’) By the time it turned back on I was already c-c-c-c-comboed to death so :’) This is also the jail where Zenkichi awakens to his Persona and honestly? I found the little segment where he has to sneak around in his usual everyday attire so cute, bless him, he really did adopt 7 teenagers, their cat and an AI daughter.

ALSO?! They deadass put Dio in this game? Like when I first saw Natsume’s shadow I was like: Hm looks kinda familiar...

BUT THEN?!

Needless to say I was fangirling pretty hard.

I liked Akira Konoe, very much vibing with his Power Ranger aesthetic however, I have to say, his boss fights was surprisingly... Easy? At least it felt easy to me which was kind of... Disappointing I suppose for him supposedly being “the final boss” HOWEVER, I very much liked how his calling card was delivered, and the fact that Zenkichi could finally get his revenge was very satisfying! 

Now, let’s talk about the end game, mainly the Abyss Jail.  I did NOT see it coming (haha) that it was Ichinose all along! As I’m currently replaying the game, the fact that she doesn’t want to look at Sophia despite specialising in AI technology should have been my first clue that something is not quite right here! 

When she forces Sophia to attack the Thieves, it honestly broke my heart. The fact that she recognised Joker and Skull... And she threw herself off the ledge just so she can’t hurt them anymore... Yo, I love her so much T_T That’s why her awakening to her Persona (her true Persona) was such a satisfying scene! Her Persona (Pandora) has a really cool design, I especially like the fact that she represents the Hope Arcana (as there was hope left at the bottom of Pandora’s box) and that Pandora herself kept the box-y design from her original “Persona” Pithos. I found it quite funny that all the skills Pithos has ended with a “?”. Anyway, the scene where she tells Ichinose all the things she learnt, and that Ichinose herself has a heart despite believing that she doesn’t for so long was so touching. It showed that Sophia deeply cares for her, despite the fact that she literally said she’s the reason so many people are getting mind controlled by EMMA. The ending scene with the two of them laughing and holding hands... My heart T_T

Now then, let’s talk about EMMA.

I. Loved. The. Final. Boss. Fight.

The fact that the game makes you use ALL the characters for the final fight! As I usually switched out characters here and there, my reserve party members weren’t severely under-levelled which made the fight pretty okay! I had quite... Strange groups I would say as I had Makoto and Zenkichi being a team, Morgana, Ann and Ryuji being a team, and Akira, Haru, Yusuke and Sophia being the final team. The final boss itself, has an absolutely beautiful design. I especially loved the angel like wings because it really showed that EMMA saw herself as a saviour. The cutscene that plays after with all the Thieves dealing the final blows before watching all the desires fall around them was honestly so pretty... Man, this game series is just so aesthetic!

When the credits rolled and all the photos started appearing I couldn’t help but start crying. It really felt like you were actually there, living through all the memories and the fact that Sophia called the photo of all of them together “Treasure”... T_T

The Gameplay

I already pretty much said all I wanted for the gameplay in the non-spoiler section but I will say, the Showtimes and the Master Skills each character learns are so good! I love that once you master all of them you’re bascially unstoppable, I especially love Haru’s and Akira’s as it allows them to deal damage even if they’re a safe distance away from the enemy. The fact that you can learn Bond skills that restore SP with every All Out Attack and One More is honestly so helpful because it saves you going back and forth between the real world but then again, by this point you probably have way too many HP and SP restoring items!

I really liked that Zenkichi has no weaknesses and uses Almighty damage but I find the whole Fury/HP consumption combination a bit weird. After a while you get used to it and obviously you don’t have to activate fury at all but as I said before, I prefer playing as Sophia. Although, I will say that gun wise, I think Zenkichi’s are a lot more fun to use than Sophia’s blasters, but then again that’s just my personal opinion!

The Music

As I said, the music was so fitting for each Jail, I absolutely love it.

The first Jail, you honestly can’t help but bop your head to the beat. It really gives you the impression that you’re in some kind of twisted theme park which really fit the overall aesthetic of the Jail. I loved the vibrant neon colour scheme in such a dark looking place.

The Okinawa Jail... My God that theme was so good. I can’t really explain it but the song really made you feel like you were... Alone, like the place was truly abandoned and forgotten. As soon as the violin started playing I couldn’t help but just stop and listen to it. The overall jail was just so... Creepy. The Shadows there resemebled the shadows you would usually find in the previous Persona games, just this black mass slithering around. I think it was very fitting that they put the Reaper in this Jail. 

As I mentioned before, the Kyoto Jail theme is my absolute favourite. The fact that it has elements of other Persona 5 songs due to Akane being a big Phantom Thieves fan was such a good choice! I love how when you take a closer look, you can see the Phantom Thieves logo on the lanterns and the fact that Shadow Akane herself made a Phantom Thief outfit for herself... Big mood. I loved how all the Thieves encouraged her to try and get along with her dad better AND that they taught Zenkichi how to cook just so he can make curry for her, especially when you remember just how much curry means to someone like Futaba. 

I really liked the remix of Rivers in a Desert, then again what did I expect from a Persona game? The battle music is ALWAYS amazing. I really liked how this played when you fight Konoe as it parallels when you fight Shido in the original, supposedly the final fight, only to find out that there is something MUCH bigger than them.

Can you do a pov reader with SAO gang holiday special?

This was a fun challenge! I’ve only ever written ONE POV reader before, and it was an x Reader for a mutual’s birthday! I thought long and hard about how to fit the reader into this fic, and I think it turned out pretty decent! Let me know how I did! 

           As you’re walking home from school, your phone vibrates in your pocket. Since you’re on the train, you slip it out and check the notification, curious if it’s a friend texting or just your mom telling you what to do about dinner. To your delight, it’s a group text. You flip it open to see a few people have already responded to the initial message. It looks like Asuna’s invited everyone over to the log cabin for a small holiday party in ALO. Lisbeth spammed the chat with a bunch of excited emojis, and a few confirmations had already been sent from Sinon, Leafa, and Klein. You think about how much homework you have to do for a moment, and then, with a shrug, you decide that it’s just one day. You deserve to hang out with your friends, especially for the holidays.

           With your confirmation typed up and sent, you smile and pocket your phone just in time to get off at your train stop. If you hurry and get a decent amount of homework done, you won’t have as much to worry about when you head to the ALO party later. You speed down the sidewalk at a quicker pace than usual, already feeling excited to have some much-needed break time from all of the school stress. Racing into your home, you barely stop long enough to slip into your house slippers and then you dash past the kitchen to grab a snack before you head into your room. You check the time. You have a couple of hours before the party.

           In that time, you complete as much homework as you can, checking off each subject’s work as you go in your planner. You get a lot more done than you thought you would have; perhaps the motivation of the holiday party gave you more energy. When you’re finally closing the last tab on your homework readings, you breathe out a sigh of relief and turn your head to look at your Amusphere, sitting there on the headboard of your bed, waiting to be turned on. With an eager grin, you change into some more comfortable clothes for diving, crawl onto the bed after closing your door and putting a note on it for your family, and then you slip the Amusphere over your eyes. You say the two magic words that will take you to Alfheim, and before you know it, you’re materializing in the living area, receiving a smile from Asuna and Sinon, who are setting up the coffee table with little decorations.

           “Oh, you’re a little early!” Asuna says. “Good! Can you take care of some of the decorations? Lisbeth was supposed to be here by now, but she’s running a little late because her mom needed her to do something.”

           You’re eager to help, so you ask her what decorations need taking care of. As it turns out, they’ve purchased pretty much everything the game had to offer in the ways of holiday decorations. There were wreaths, decorative candles that burned in different colors to resemble holiday string lights, more traditional candles, lots of red and green ribbons and garlands, strings of popcorn, and candy canes. Asuna has even gone through the trouble of making everyone holiday outfits that fit with their ALO races. She gives you yours, and you equip it quickly to get in the spirit of the party.

           Decorating goes fairly easy in ALO. All one has to do is hold something up to the wall and then press a button on the menu to say that it was where you wanted it. You take care of the wall decorations; Lisbeth and Silica show up a little after you and insist on putting up a tree by themselves. Sinon catches your eyes and rolls hers as Silica accidentally wrapps herself up in tree garlands. You can’t help but giggle at the sight. You’re stuck between untangling Silica and possibly taking a screenshot. In the end, Klein shows up and takes care of the issue—only to get himself stuck.

           Alice and Eugeo are the next to arrive, closely followed by Agil. They get to work immediately, making sure everything is in place. By the time Kirito and Leafa arrive, most of the work was done. Sinon immediately accuses Kirito of trying to get out of sharing the work, and Asuna jumps to his defense quite calmly, saying that he wouldn’t have been much of a help anyways. Kirito looks as if he’d wilted. Eugeo pats him on the back, laughing and telling him that it was okay that he was late. Asuna shares the remainder of the holiday outfits with the latecomers, and soon, everyone is festively dressed.

           The little log cabin looks splendid. You give Silica and Lisbeth a thumbs’ up for how nice the tree looks. The coffee and dinner tables both look grand, and they’d been filled with holiday-themed goodies, both traditional and ALO-specific treats. Asuna and Kirito said they’d paid for all of it. You think about how much yrd this all cost, and then you immediately put that thought out of your mind. They wouldn’t want you to think about that—they wanted everyone to have fun and spread cheer.

           “Shall we propose a toast?” Agil suggests.

           Lisbeth picks up a champagne glass and holds it in the air.

           “Yeah, a toast!” she says. “To another year of successful questing!”

           Kirito nods and picks up a glass of his own. You follow suit, and the others aren’t that far behind.

           “It’s been a long year of adjusting,” he says. “But we’ve all come to appreciate this world as our own as much as the world we were born in. This holiday season, let’s just be grateful that we can be ourselves in VRMMOs freely.”

           Sinon rolls her eyes.

           “And cheers to the increased drop rate for the holiday event,” he throws in at the end.

           Lisbeth snorts and starts laughing.

           “Kiritooo,” she says. “Be serious!”

           Asuna jumps in before Kirito could make things any less serious.

           “Alright, everyone!” she says. “We’ve got the savory foods ready on the big table and the sweet ones are in here on the coffee table! Please, do, take as much as you like! There’s plenty for a few more rounds of completely filled plates! And drinks are in the kitchen!”

           Not a word more needed to be said. Everyone hurries to grab a plate, and you find yourself trying to decide what all to try. The traditional treats could be found offline, but they were sure to be great, since Asuna most likely made them with her high cooking skill. On the other hand, the ALO holiday-themed treats were probably unique and interesting in their own right, and you’d never be able to recreate those in the real world—at least, not without some help from a decent cook friend, that is. In the end, you try to take a little bit of everything. After all, your virtual stomach doesn’t fill up the same way your real one did. You’d be safe trying as much food as possible.

           You take a seat on the long futon in the living area, seated between Lisbeth and Sinon. Lisbeth, like you, has filled up her plate with everything she could fit on it, while Sinon has selected a few things and separated them evenly on her plate. You look across the room to see Kirito with an equally stuffed-looking plate in his usual place in the rocking chair, and Yui is seated on his head eagerly downing a gingerbread cookie. Asuna sits down beside them in the chair, and across from you, Leafa, Alice, and Silica take up the opposite futon. Klein and Agil have cornered Eugeo to ask him questions about life in the real world. Everyone seems excited and talkative.

           “So, are you ready for the big New Year’s Eve quest?” Lisbeth asks you.

           Nodding, you smile at her and tell her you’re making sure to have the whole night clear in order to come and complete it.

           “It’s gonna be great!” she exclaimes.

           Sinon chuckles and shakes her head.

           “I think the eggnog is getting to her head, don’t you?” she asks.

           You laugh and shake your head. Lisbeth is always easily excitable at these kinds of gatherings. You’ve been with this group long enough to know it’s just the spirit of being together that gets her going. You ask them if they’ve got any holiday plans with their families. Sinon is staying by herself. Lisbeth’s family is throwing a big gift exchange party, which apparently is mostly gag gifts for laughs. In turn, they ask you what you’ve got planned, and you tell them what your family plans to do and which parts you’re excited for and which you aren’t.

           Asuna comes over and asks you if you’d like a refill on your drink. You nod and thank her as she pours you some more. It’s warm and smells delicious. It isn’t what you were drinking before, but you’re excited to drink it. Bringing it to your lips, you taste something spiced with a little tinge of apple. It’s a bit like a cider. Lisbeth sees the look on your face and excitedly leans over to ask Asuna for some of the drink. The drink, which Asuna calls Undine Spiced Wine, is a big hit with everyone in the group. By the end of the night, there’s not a drop left.

           No one wants to leave, of course. There’s a bit of chatter—maybe on the actual date of the holiday, there’ll be a gift exchange. The rules are simple; the item has to cost two thousand yen or less. Kirito says everyone can meet at his house. Anyone who hasn’t been before should text him for the address. As your friends start to log out, you tell them to have a happy holiday as you tell each one goodbye. Finally, it’s just you, Asuna, and Kirito there. They turn to you and ask when you’re planning to log out. You tell them you don’t want the holiday party to end.

           “Don’t worry, it’s not really the end,” Kirito says. “We’re just pausing to sleep before resuming at my place in a few days. You’ve got the address, right?”

           You shake your head. You’ve only ever met up with them online.

           “Oh, my bad!” Kirito says. “I’ll text it to you as soon as I log out. I look forward to seeing you! Bring something really fun! I know I’m hoping Klein will open the gag gift I’m bringing!”

           Asuna jabs him in the ribcage.

           “Kirito-kun!” she says. “You bring something nice!”

           You laugh and thank him, telling them both that you’ll see them at school. You log out and return to your bedroom, hearing only the running heat. It sounds like your parents aren’t home just yet. You take off your Amusphere and roll over to see your phone lit up with the message from Kirito. It’s his address. You smile and clutch the phone to your chest.

           The holidays have only just begun.

A dream come true! The Prince's Heart is getting a Voice Over

When we started The Prince's Heart, we never thought we'd find so many wonderful persons willing to collaborate on our project.  Here we are now, a month later, with an entire crew of professional and aspiring Voice Actors willing to help us realize our Visual Novel!

Nick Chang as Edward (Protagonist)

I was born in Manhattan, but raised in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, where I currently reside. I also proudly identify as a 2nd generation Asian American (half Hong Kong via my mother, half Taiwanese via my father) and a member of the LGBTQIA+ community (gay and demisexual). Since childhood, I have had a distinct love of music and performance. Having played violin from 4th to 12th grade and sung for even longer, I used music as a primary means to express myself growing up. As I progressed from high school to college, I discovered online voice acting, but it was not until my time in graduate school that I formally decided to become an actor. My interest initially stemmed from a desire to help out in localization projects, but over the time I have spent voice acting, I have come to not only develop a great appreciation of the craft of acting, but also further deepen my love of music and rekindle my love of performance. With my singing experience as a basis to my unique perspectives, I hope to bring sensitivity, curiosity, and innovation to every project I work on!

Jacob Wilson as Adam

I’m a voice actor, Casting and voice director based in Dallas Texas. I’ve been working in this field for almost four years Now. It’s a journey that has taken me literally around the world and I’m so thankful for all I’m able to do and have accomplished. Being a part of amazing projects like this one are what fuel me to pursue my passions. I realized I was bisexual when I was 18. It’s a group in the LGBT+ community that continues to get flak from seemingly all over. But my faith in it and myself has always been unshaken. Outside of VO I am a drag artist in the making under the name “Twilight Stunning”, who I’m going to show more properly in the coming months! I’m so thankful I’m in the position I am, and I can’t wait to see what we have in store for y’all!

Bradley Gareth as Michael (Main Character)

Bradley was raised in Western Pennsylvania, learning piano from age 5 and taking up local community theater at age 10. He pursued the performing arts throughout high school, consistently participating in high school musicals and chorus festivals during his tenure there. At the end of high school, he also took multiple classes in musical composition and began doing online voiceover work.

During his time in college, Bradley participated in numerous professional and amateur voiceover productions both online and at the University of Pittsburgh's student radio station, WPTS Radio. While at WPTS, Bradley also began writing advertisements and online content for websites.

Now out of school, Bradley continues to lend his voice to multiple productions, dabble in musical composition, and provide content writing for WrightlySo.com.

Jared Prize as David (Main Character)

Singing provides me with some of the greatest joy in life. Outside of that, I love voice acting, hiking, and hanging with friends. My day job involves working with computers, so I like to find a bit of an escape into the creative-realm during my free time. My sexuality has always been a struggle, but I find comfort in not putting a label on it (at least for now). Mostly, I am very excited to be a part of an ambition team of lovely people. Working within a project like this brings excitement during the process, and even more-so while waiting for the final piece! I hope you enjoy what's to come xo

Marisa Duran as Lady Marie

Hey there, I’m Marisa Duran. I’m an actress working and living in Dallas, Texas.

I caught the "theatre bug" at a young age. My parents will tell you that it started when I was two years-old, dancing around to the Barney theme song. I agree wholeheartedly.

I grew up in a suburb on the east side of Dallas and was fortunate to have the opportunity to explore a city known for its rich culture and artistic influence. My passion for theatre was fueled by the many musicals that toured through town and I quickly decided that I wanted to spend the rest of my life as a professional actor.

In 2016 I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas with my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre, emphasis in Acting. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with multiple professional theatre companies in the DFW area. I’ve also expanded my career into the worlds of film and voiceover, landing roles in short films, webseries, and commercials, and lending my voice to over a dozen anime titles at FUNimation.

Art has the power to heal, to change, and to empower. As an artist, I believe that my purpose on this earth is to tell stories, and through these stories I hope to make a positive impact and leave people better than I found them. I consider it an honor to be able to use my talents in such a profound way.

Whenever I’m not rehearsing or recording, you can usually find me at my day-time marketing job, playing video-games, or drinking coffee at a local coffeeshop.

Kiba Walker as Zachariah

Born Arthur Lee Walker III in Tacoma, Washington, Kiba Walker is an American actor, musician, director, writer, and performer based out of Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas.

Kiba trained under the likes of various industry professionals such as Shane Sparks, Donyelle Jones, Tony Oliver, Betty "Waters" Kennedy, Chuck Huber, Sonny Strait, Chris Rager, Justine Reyes, Lorette Spicer, Bill Quinby, Angie Irons, Dan Lorge, Holly Clark Lorge, Spencer Christian, and many others. With 16 years of collective industry knowledge, Kiba has performed with the likes of Alice Underground, The Stereo Killers, Frankly Fictitious, CRVSH, Grant Davis, Ashley Ann Farley, Steve "Warky" Nunez, BASH!, Ryland Lynch, Ross Lynch, Will Jay, and more.

Voice over came to Kiba in his later years, around the age of 18, when he found his love doing an ask blog for Tumblr. From there, he took the craft seriously and networked profusely with various actors and companies in the voice over realm. His first roles were as Boku Temagawa in "Love Games" and Mike Connelly in "Zoolaplex".

Since 2014, he's been cast in various other projects including MY HERO ACADEMIA, HORIMIYA, GENSHIN IMPACT, FRUITS BASKET, ONE PIECE, SAINT SEIYA (2019 Sentai Dub), BLACK CLOVER, BOFURI! I DON'T WANNA GET HURT SO I'LL MAX OUT MY DEFENSE, CAUTIOUS HERO: THE HERO IS OVERPOWERED BUT OVERLY CAUTIOUS, CASE FILE NO.221 KABUKICHO, CAMP BUDDY, FULL SERVICE, TO TRUST AN INCUBUS, TO LOVE RU, O MAIDENS IN YOUR SAVAGE SEASON, EARTHLOCK, POPUP DUNGEON, SOMETHING IN THE DARK, RADIANT, and many more!

Your matchup is: Kenma Kozume

How you met: You guys met online. One of your passion projects is the stream gameplay - and specifically you’re really good at rhythm games (courtesy of your natural sense of rhythm and beat you built from playing piano + dancing). You stream at night because that’s when you’re free, and one day someone recommends you to Kenma on one of his livestreams. He watches a few of your streams - he finds your reactions really funny - whenever you get stressed trying to clear a hard song/level or when you make comments about how you would have arranged the beat differently - he enjoys your sarcastic personality + paired with your dedication to clearing/playing games. He reaches out via DM and the two of you begin talking. You talk with each other upwards of half of a year before he thinks he might be catching feelings for you.

Your first date: He’s nervous about asking if you want to meet in person - even though both of you show your faces on stream, it’s different from talking online to actually meeting in person. The two of you frequently video call, but haven’t met in person. Also, since he’s a famous streamer, he doesn’t want to draw too much attention to himself when he’s out. One day on a video call, he seems a little nervous/withdrawn, so you ask him what’s up. He pauses for a bit, but you’re patient and understanding that he may have something a little more serious on his mind. After a moment, he asks if you want to meet him at a hole-in-the-wall coffee shop (recommended to him by Hinata, who says it’s hidden away so it’s harder for fans to find). You happily agree and he messages you the address. You don’t really think much of it, but at the end of the call it suddenly occurs to you to ask “is this a date?” Kenma’s a little blushy but he replies “yes” softly. The two of you have a nice chill coffee and he invites you over to his apartment for a games/movie night for the next date (KENMA IS SMOOTH)

Your first kiss: both of you are very patient people who would rather wait until both of you are ready before initiating any new kind of physical intimacy. I think your first kiss would be on the day/night you guys decide to make things official (not publicly, but between the two of you). I think it just comes up in conversation - the two of you were not in a rush to put a label on your relationship, but he asks if he can introduce you to his other friends as his girlfriend. It just happens, after you nod yes he leans forward on the couch to swiftly press a kiss on your lips and then your cheek. 

Anniversary: Kenma is so THOUGHTFUL - in the weeks before your anniversary he quietly observes what you’re browsing online - whether it’s online shops that he can purchase your gift from, or noticing which spotify playlists you’re looping when taking a shower/doing work. He silently catalogues all this information and tries to figure out what kind of gift you would appreciate. I mean we all know Kenma is super wealthy but I think if he bought you something expensive he’d buy it because he knows it means a lot to you or it’s something you’d use a lot! One thing I could see him getting is a set of matching gameboy terrarium/planters for the two of  you so you can both have them on your desks as a reminder of each other. (I found this on Etsy, wakuwakuisland does super cool recycling of old retro gameboy consoles by turning them into pokemon themed terrariums. I love these sm i put a photo of one and one day when I am not broke i WILL order/commission one). I think it ends up being a fancy dinner at home - and the two of you exchange gifts and spend the night cuddling on the couch while gaming.

How they propose: So at this point his followers/your followers all know you two are dating so you guys will help with streaming/show up on each other’s streams. Under the guise of asking you to help him film something - he sneakily sets up his surprise. Ofc he still streams like normal, wanting to wait until the last moment and really make it a surprise, but as the game ends he asks if you can go grab him a glass of water from the kitchen. So you pad over to the kitchen, he quickly pulls the ringbox out of his pocket and ends his stream. When you come back he’s already standing in the middle of the room with the box open - silver band glimmering. You drop the glass of water in shock and start crying and nodding and he gives you the SOFTEST hug and the two of you just stand there for a few minutes hugging. (And then you go grab the paper towels bc yes there is water all over the carpet RIP)

What your wedding looks like: small, private ceremony. Probably in a remote chapel somewhere outside of the city. Kenma and you both wanted a day where you could focus on each other without all the hustle/bustle and distractions from the city + you didn’t want the press showing up or nosy people in general. Since Hinata is from a more rural area of Sendai, he suggests a local venue to Kenma who gladly takes him up on his offer, since a bunch of the people he wants to invite are from the area anyways. The wedding is filled with lots of laughter and joy, and just in general it feels good to be surrounded with all the closest people in your life. Ok but also for your honeymoon he takes a full 2 month hiatus and travels the world with you - wherever you want to go you’ll visit. 

Newlywed/domestic hc: Towards the end of the giant honeymoon trip around the world the two of you start to miss home. So when you finally arrive back at your shared apartment (you moved all your belongings in the week before the wedding) it’s the most wonderful sense of relief and wonder ever. It’s like you’re reliving your firsts all over again - your first time going grocery shopping together, your first time cooking dinner together, first time in a while doing a stream together, first time falling asleep in your full sized bed together. After months of travelling, it just feels good to be home again and to be able to revel in the fact that you’re married.

Persona 5 Scramble: My Thoughts on Palaces and Jails

So I finally got around to watching translated play through of Persona 5 Scramble. As I’m in the west and it hasn’t been brought over as of the time I’m writing this. Now there’s something about this game’s story that really stood out to me that was really interesting.

In P5S, rather than having Palaces cause by a person’s distorted desires that simultaneously translated to them breaking from of the prison of regression, the game instead has this concept called Jails. For a brief summary, Jails are a place in the Metaverse that are created by a king, through the assistance of an app called EMMA, who is usually a downtrodden or discredited individual who is abusing the power of the Metaverse to effect the population within an area of their influence. Instead of treasures, they have crowns and the jail is more overlaid over a city than just a single building.

The reason I bring this up is because, I think the Jails are far more interesting of a concept for realms than the Palaces. I’ve made it no secret that I think the concept of Palaces are super flawed. In cases where the shadow self seems like they’re basically their real world equivalent, how most Palace Rulers are so transparently evil anytime they try to add redeeming element to the ruler, and how a lot of the themes of the palace feel like they were made before seeing if the theme would fit the character.

With the only ones that felt that were really good was Kamoshida’s, which felt like a immediate and personal threat that you couldn’t avoid as you went to school everyday and you’d never ignore his influence (as opposed to getting sued by Madarame or in debt to Kaneshiro which could’ve been avoided, but instead resulting in this shoved in ticking clock.) and Futaba’s palace that actually showed distortion that wasn’t just “evil.”

(Then we got Maruki who was similar to Futaba, but that’s a bit of a different discussion.)

However, Jails seem to be a bit more cleaver. Due to the fact they come about through the abuse of the popular EMMA app, it really does sell this idea that anyone could potentially have a Jail. As well as gives the King of the Jail more of an agency in how they become bad. With Palace rulers, it always felt impersonal and them having a Palace was just a side effect of their negative midset. But those Palace’s shapes don’t really seem to reflect their purpose of control over an area. Like, Kamoshida made sense, he saw the school as his own castle with students as slaves and him this glorious guy who could do anything. But then how does Okumura see his HQ like a space station? Does he walk around in the office thinking he has zero gravity turned on? I know the game goes out of its way to justify the palace aesthetics, but it feels forced because the character themselves couldn’t reflect outside of Kamoshida and maybe Shido.

But the idea of Jail King making the jail through their own efforts with the assistance of EMMA, its rather intriguing. What’s also intriguing is using the Metaverse in more creative ways. We primarily saw people’s cognitive selves either be changed to get rid of their desires, made psychotic, or killed which kills them in real life. Jail’s actually used the ability to effect the public cognition I ways that palace rulers didin’t. Alice uses her Jail to find men in stable relationships and make them break up and turning their love towards her, Ango uses his jail to make people adore his book, Hyodo uses her’s to help her get reelected. Oh my god, imagine if Shido or Okumura just used their power to actually just manipulate the public into voting for them!

And due to the massive effect on the real world caused by meddling in the cognitive world, there’s a lot more of an urgency to fix beat the King. To free the people from the prison. There’s also more of a mystery to the story. With this app helping people effect the cognitive world, you want to uncover more about what made the EMMA and how.

In short, I think the Jail system in much more interesting and well put together concept for the Metaverse dungeons and their kings are better villains. Its strange as Atlus helped make the story for P5S. I would’ve loved to see this in P5 and P5R. And I think we can kinda thank P5R for the Jail concept as the idea of altering cognition to effect the real world is explored with Maruki’s Palace.

It makes me wish we got something similar with the antagonists in P5. As well as seeing how it could be integrated with Mementos. Hell, the idea of making an app that’s abused by one person that then acts as the source of how to distort the public would actually tie in with the mob mentality of mentality. One guy with an internet connection can at times set of a chain reaction of public opinion where all involved may suffer except of the person who started it.

Anyway, I hope P5S gets an English release. I wasn’t expecting a hack and slash game variation of P5 to add such a unique concept to the world. And it also makes me hopeful for when we potentially get with Persona 6.

Disney Villains Recruiting: An Introduction

Better late than never, I hope? There’s a few out there already, and I’m way too late considering the shows are over, but here’s my take on a introduction to the world of Tokyo Disney’s Villains Recruiting program.

 This introduction includes a run down of the show and its amazing characters that took social media by storm. 

 If you’ve the courage to seek true beauty of elegance than proceed… into the Villains World.

The Concept 

During the years 2015-2018, Tokyo Disneysea’s Halloween celebrated the wonderful world of Disney’s famous Villains. While the main Villains like Maleficent and Ursula dominated parades such as The Villains World and the night fireworks of Fantasmic!, their team of underlings were sent to work in the smaller parts of the park.

So every Halloween, the area of American Waterfront rolled out a red carpet and welcomed ten unique characters, each based off a famous Disney Villain, who’s sole purpose was to recruit humans into the Villains World. The program was known as Disney Villains Recruiting.

The Show

The original show, with a game known as the Six Poses Dance itself was a 15-20 minute skit that took place every hour or so at American Waterfront. Six of the ten ‘Recruiters’ would come out, along with two hosts, meaning in order to catch all ten characters, you would have to make multiple visits to the park.

Each Recruiter quickly introduced themselves and showed off a unique pose that represented them. Then the show becomes a game of Simon Says where the hosts will call out a Recruiters name and guests must respond with the correct pose. The game usually became chaotic when the hosts starting yelling out random things and guests could watch the Recruiters scramble to match whatever was being asked for them. 

Finally, a guest would be picked out of the audience to participate in the game alongside the Recruiters. At the end of the game, the guest would be asked if they have now been convinced to come join the Villains World. If they say no, there would be a loud cry of disappointment and the disgruntled Recruiters would drag the guest back to their seat. If yes, after the yelps of joy, the guest would be asked to return to the Tower of Terror in 666 years where the Recruiters would be eagerly waiting for them.

In 2016-2017, a second show, called Villains One Point Course was introduced to rotate with the now Special Pose Dance show. Each show only consisted of two Recruiters, six would appear throughout the day. Similar to before, the two present Recruiters would introduce themselves and their pose before going into a game similar to Rock Paper Scissors, except you had to match the pose the Recruiter was doing- which was almost always their own pose so it wasn’t hard to get it right. Two guests would then be selected and have their outfits judged by two new hosts who would then offer one point that would make them Villain Worthy. 

In 2018, the show returned to its original format of the Six Pose Dance and the One Point Course, along with its hosts, did not return.

The Hosts 

Mr. V

Known as the grandmaster of the program, Mr. V is the lead host of the original Six Pose Dance show. He appears to be in charge of the Recruiters and they all speak to him with respect, sometimes calling him Mister or V-san for short.

He is a rather relaxed character much like a father watching all his chaotic children make a mess he doesn’t have to clean up. More often than not he keeps to himself in the background while the others perform, only ever speaking up to scold them or laugh at them when they make a mistake. 

Mr. V is however rather possessive of his assistant, Ms Scatter, who, despite her years of hard work, he refuses to acknowledge her as a real Villain. 

Despite the similarities in their designs, this character has no relation with Dr. Facilier from the Princess and the Frog. 

Ms. Scatter 

Scatter is the human representative of the show and represents in the audience in that she is constantly fawning over how beautiful and enticing the Villains World looks from the outside and her own goal is to one day join them. In the early years she runs around interrupting the Recruiters, calling out to guests to not be deceived by their wickedness despite how gorgeous and tempting it may be. 

She is the one character that goes through considerable character growth over the course of the four years and her costume also changes slightly each year. In the beginning, she is reckless and clumsy, the Recruiters picked on her, bullied her and Mr. V very much controlled her. By the end she laughed with them as though they were equal and spoke back to Mr. V whenever she disagreed with him.

In the 2018 show, the Villains offered recruited guests a flag with the mark of a true Villain which they would be granted when they return in 666 years. At the end of the show, as the Recruiters left, Scatter would stay behind and reveal to the audience the mark of a true Villain which was on the inside of her jacket. When Mr. V comes to chase her about what’s taking her so long, she hides the mark and turns to the audience, signalling them to keep her secret. This suggests that even without Mr. V and the others knowing, she has graduated into a real Villain. 

Ms. Villa

Host of the One Point Course, Ms Villa is the self proclaimed fashion diva of the Villains World. She is stylish and mature, strutting around offering advice to guests on how to better their outfits.

She is very much in her own world as she parades around the show, completely ignoring the panicked cries of her assistant whenever she rambles off about an idea that is clearly unrealistic. To the Recruiters however she is rather motherly, giving them pet names and teasing them like children. 

While she holds a very welcoming aura, she always catches the audience by surprise at the end of the show where she demands payment for her services. 

Mr. Polite

Known as MP or Polite for short, he is Ms Villa’s assistant during the One Point Course show. He is more put together than Scatter but also spends a lot of the show yelling after Ms Villa. 

When left to his own accord, MP is sneaky and playful, even over confident in himself but his job is mostly to keep Ms Villa from going over the top with the guests so that is his main focus. He seems more well informed of the human world, unlike the other Villains and has to reign them in when they’re being unreasonable such as asking him to buy them snacks from the park.

He gets along well with the rest of the Recruiters who all treat him as their own personal assistant, something he does not seem to mind. He gets along particularly well with Daru who he usually promises to take on a walk after the show. 

The Recruiters 

Apple Poison

Themed off the poison apple used to put Snow White into an eternal sleep, Apple works for the Evil Queen from the film Snow White.

Tall, dark and handsome, Apple has the most mature look of the men’s Recruiters, and coming from the oldest Disney animated him, he is teased by his workmates and guests alike for being the family ‘uncle’ or ‘old man’. There are many times where he also has trouble keeping up with the right poses or falls from pranks by the others, showing he’s also quite naive. 

Apple is the most charming of the men’s Recruiters, his quotes usually laced with cheesy offers of escorting guests or sweeping them away. He normally keeps to himself while the others are running around, though his ongoing rivalry with Jack brings out a more immature side to him. 

He is also the best English speaker of the cast as his main quotes are also half in English and he often lectures guests in English as well. He is constantly blowing kisses to guests or his prop posing apple, drawing out squeals of excitement from guests.

Jack Heart 

Hailing from Wonderland, Jack works for the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland. He makes jokes of turning back into a playing card so it can be assumed he is the personification of the jack of hearts card. 

Jack is known as the entertainer of the Villains World and he is indeed very entertaining to watch. While the others strut along the red carpet, Jack is always seen skipping around, cutting corners and getting right into the faces of guests. Even when standing in one spot he is usually stretching strangely or contorting for the enjoyment of the guests.

As a super playful character, Jack gets along best with Dalmetia who he calls his best friend. The two get along very well and walk around linking arms and high-fiving each other all the time. On the flip side, Jack seems to down right hate Apple who he will taunt and make faces at. While it’s not clearly stated why their relationship is so bad, it seems to purely because Jack hates Apple for being so much taller than him. 

He is also one of the only Recruiters that does not react happily at the mention of their Master; instead, when the Queen of Hearts is brought up, Jack usually hides in fear, clutches his neck in case he’ll be beheaded or runs away.

Quotes ❤️My world it the world of entertainment! And that’ll make your heart go- Aow!  ❤️Like how Alice found Wonderland, so long as you all hold darkness in your hearts, I’ll appear before you again just like the Cheshire Cat. 

Mr. Dalmetia 

A puppy given a human body by his Master Cruella De Vil from the film 101 Dalmatians. 

Mr. Dalmetia, Daru for short, is an excitable and selfish character who is usually chasing after his best friend Jack or running away from Scar. He teases everyone, friends and guests alike in a crude manner, sticking his tongue out at people or pushing over their toys. Some of the others tease him with games of fetch and he will go sprinting across the performance area, then return extremely grumpy when he realises he’s been duped.

While Daru and Jack are best friends, Daru generally gets along well enough with the rest of the men’s Recruiters. Scar, from the ladies team, is obviously madly in love with him- a feeling he does not reciprocate. For four years, he runs from her, turns her down her advances and down right rejects her any chance he gets. However, at the end of 2018, while hesitant, he agrees to wait alongside her until the guests come see them again in 666 years. 

He is the very embodiment of a puppy and even Mr. V comments during his introduction that he’s yet to shake all his canine habits; he is sometimes caught sitting like a dog, scratching his neck as though there’s a collar there and bugging the others after the show to take him for a walk. 

Quotes 🐶This is my WAN-derful pose! 🐶Everyone, you have to look after your cute little pets. After all... it is common enough to wear fur here, right?

Malfie 

Holding his Master in the highest regard is Malfie who works for Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty. His name has also been romanised by fans as Malfi, Malfy or Malefy- while Malfi is likely most directly accurate, I personally am too use to writing it as Malfie, though none of the above would be considered incorrect.

The most narcissistic of the Recruiters, even dubbed Nar-fie, Malfie carries a hand mirror around with him at all times so that he can always admire his own beauty. On the off chance one of the other members manages to sneak away with the mirror, he becomes uncharacteristically frantic until he can find it again. 

While Malfie does not love anyone like he loves himself, he gets along with a majority of the other characters fairly well, particularly Joe and Farja. He is also the most popular victim when the ladies decide to start bullying the men’s team- Farja, despite the fact that she and Malfie get along, is most likely to lead the charge in picking on him. 

Malfie is in canon the personification of a crow, whether or not he is Maleficent’s crow that appears in the movie is unclear. He does however, consider Diaval from the live action movie Maleficent his rival in beauty.

Eight-foot Joe

A dedicated worker for the sea-witch Ursula from the Little Mermaid is Eight-foot Joe. His introduction suggests that he is in fact hiding his extra legs which leads fans to conclude he is an actual octopus. 

Joe is the tired office worker of the group, the only one that treats the program as the job that it is. Based off Ursula’s business as the sea-witch, Joe’s introduction includes him launching into what likes a rehearsed speech advertising Ursula’s services. When not at the microphone, Joe is usually hiding behind guests or sitting down somewhere away from the red carpet. 

Of all the Recruiters, Joe is the most crass. He speaks rudely to guests, usually telling them off about one thing or another. He teases the other Recruiters but can rarely be caught sharing a laugh with them. Like Jack, his reactions to mentions of his Master are usually of fear, likely because he is overworked and insulting Ursula will only result in more work for himself.

In the early years he was very vocal about how tired he was and how he did not need friends, but the end of 2018’s season saw him the most emotional and commenting on how he wishes he had more time with them.

Lady Pirate Hock 

Working for the infamous Captain Hook from the world of Peter Pan is Lady Pirate Hock. She is, without a doubt, most popular amongst her fellow ladies Recruiters. 

Hock is the most suave and flirtatious of the ladies Recruiters, though her wiles are only ever directed at either the ladies or female guests. Scatter, Veil, Farja and Hades can all be caught swooning over her and fighting for her attention when she offers to escort any of them after the show. Even amongst the men’s team she is known to be handsome and popular. 

While her overall character is extremely charming and almost prince like, she has an endearing childish side that usually shows when she’s picking on the men’s team or running off with their props. Having said that, she is extremely protective of the ladies team, particularly Veil, when the men retaliate. 

For the longest time I mistook her name for Hook, but after some fact checking, it can be confirmed that her English romanisation would be Hock.

Quotes ⚓️The sun shines brightly again today... oh sun, your light is not what I need today. What I need is the beautiful light of the moon. ⚓️The sun’s light is dazzling, but what dazzles me most right now ... are all your beautiful smiles. 

Veil

The Hunchback of Notre Dame’s Villain, Frollo, has Veil has his underling. Though not specially stated, there have been instances where she alludes to the fact that she may be the bell a top the Notre Dame. 

If Veil were present on any particular day, you would hear her coming long before they reach the performance area. She also carries a small hand bell with her that she rings loudly as she walks around, much to the dismay of some of her fellow cast members. Though if the men complain she tends to ring it more loudly in their ear. 

She is the most refined of and of the cast, speaking formally to everyone else and walking with a grace not seen in the others. She is closest with Hock whom she appears to have a crush on, blushing whenever they hold hands. However every time Jack approaches her, she quickly and harshly brushes him off. When asked why, she claims it is because Jack makes fun of her pose. 

Veil has the voice of an angel, she often breaks into the song halfway through her introduction, needing Scatter to stop her and remind her to please teach the audience her pose.

Pretty Scar 

Taking on the same name as her Master is Pretty Scar, working for the Lion King’s Scar. She is what one could call the black sheep of the family because despite being a Villain, she values all things that are considered cute and pretty. She runs around pouting dramatically looking for compliments which all the other Recruiters find unfitting of a Villain.

When introduced by the hosts, it’s said Scar is disliked by all the other Recruiters and during her own speech she the others are always looking for places to hide or pushing each other closer so that they do not have to listen to her. When interacting with the others she is mostly the one pushing herself onto them, Jack being one of the few that won’t completely turn her away.

She is also madly in love Mr. Dalmetia, despite him always turning her down she does not let up. She is always chasing after him and attempting to cling to him, calling him her ‘Darling’. While the other ladies Recruiters don’t seem to pay much attention to her love for Daru, when Daru finally agrees to stay with her, Farja and Hock who were present congratulated her.

Based on the fact that Jack calls her ‘Hyena-Girl’ it can be assumed she is the personification of a hyena, similar to the group of hyenas that work for her Master. 

Quotes 🐱Hmph, hmph! I’m grumpy today because no one’s called me cute! Ah! That feels good! 🐱Darling!

Farja

Flying in from Agrabah is Farja who works for Jafar from the film Aladdin. Her most prominent features are her flowing black and red hair and flowing dress that she shows off on the red carpet. 

Farja is easily the most bratty of the ladies Recruiters, if the audience does not give her an impressed enough reaction to her magic tricks she will complain really loudly and gesture for more applause. When watching the others, if they mess up or do anything silly she is first to laugh really loudly. On the other hand, if something does not please her she tends to scream in a person’s face until whatever is upsetting her stops.

She gets along quite well with the other ladies Recruiters, excluding Scar, and is one of the members that swoons of Hock all the time. She often fights for Hock’s attention and laughs excitedly when Hock escorts her to and from the show. 

While she screams out angrily whenever Iago is mentioned, it does seem she is based off the parrot which explains why she gets along with Malfie who is a crow.

Ms. Hades

Once again taking the name of her Master Hades from Hercules, is Ms Hades. Unlike her hotheaded Master, she is the most indifferent of the ladies Recruiters.

She believes in just letting people do as they please because she too wants to just let people do as they please and not carry any of the responsibility. She acts like a tired mother watching her chaotic children as the other Recruiters run around messing with each other. 

While she is possibly the quietest member of the entire team and the most professional. While she may not be as vocal as the others though, she is often with them admiring each other’s props or fighting for Hock’s attention. At any mention of her Master though she becomes extremely excited and waves enthusiastically to decorations in his image. 

Even though she does not seem to notice it, whenever she high fives or gets too close to the other members, they tend to back away as though they have been burned, after which she follows them curiously causing them to run away faster.

Café Nobilitea: Alus is the proprietor of a western-style teahouse with a distinct theme for elegance, royalty, and other-worldliness - His café is bright, full of flowers, and always playing soft kind-hearted piano music; the type of place a person could become lost in whence they’ve become tired of the grueling and dark outer world; a real heaven and haven. He often spends his free time there and enjoys sitting with his customers to get to know them.

Grand Company Militia: Alus is a very active member with the Eorzean grand companies in fighting against the Garlean empire and any other threats to the peace there might be upon the world. It’s very possible your character might have teamed up with him at some point in active duty.

The Prince on a White Horse: Alus patrols random fields often in order to keep the peace. Your character or someone your character knows might have been saved by the mysterious ‘Prince on a white horse’ while being attacked by bandits or beastmen, who oft leaves without giving his name.

A Fellow Warrior Of Light: Alus has helped out the Scions of the Seventh Dawn on occasion due to his status as a Warrior of Light; one of many.

Long-Term ANYTHING!: Friendships, rivalries, casual familiarities, romances, anything. Alus has lived a long life without any PC RP interactions, and I feel his writing suffers for it. I want someone who will be there for the long run and get to know him. I want stories to develop. I want Alus to grow because of other people.

Open-minded villains!: Alus has the patience of a saint and will befriend the nastiest of criminals no matter what. Alus will stop them from directly committing serious crimes he may be there to witness (murder, kidnapping, robbery, etc.), but will ultimately be very forgiving and calm when dealing with these topics. He wants to genuinely make a connection with people he doesn’t understand and strives his best to soften anybody’s heart, no matter how hard. His ultimate goal is to change their ways for the better through patience and understanding.

Platonic flirts!: Alus has a lot of love to give and happy to give it to nearly everyone and anyone. He throws around the words ‘I love you’ quite easily, and if he is especially crushing on someone, he will hold their hands and hug them openly despite his normal dislike of physical touch. He is most happy when he has a large circle of queerplatonic relationships, but will be absolutely exclusive to their ‘steady’ when he has made that romantic commitment.

Distant family members!: Alus knows very little of the Beauregards; his adoptive father and surnamesake did not speak of them much. Alus is fascinated with Elezen culture and considers himself one of them. He would be incredibly happy to find anyone with the same last name who would welcome him to his adopted ancestor’s information.

ADVENTURE!: Once in awhile, let’s RP somewhere other than a unmoving place. Let’s RP in a dungeon. Let’s RP while doing gold saucer chores. Let’s RP while talking to random minor NPCs. Let’s RP while doing something other than just sitting! It can help a lot with improvisation and keep the creative juices flowing.

No Permadeath! I really do not want to RP with anyone who intends to eventually kill off their character, either. This is a legitimate trigger for me.

RP Fighting...? I’ve never done this before. I’m not a fan of physical injury so it’s unlikely I would want to, either. But if the situation really calls for it, I’m open to learning. I will not allow you to permanently disfigure or disable my character - temporary injury is alright, but please talk to me about it first.

Mature Themes...? This is okay for me. Swearing, murder, prostitution, drugs.. I’m an adult! I don’t mind these themes being mentioned or being used as a backdrop to a prompt. Alus isn’t a fan of these things though! So just keep that in mind.

Sexual Assault...? For the most part, NO. However, a forceful kiss? An inappropriate touching that stops as soon as my character says no? Maybe. Ask me beforehand and be clear about what you’re thinking, no surprises.

Give him love! He is not outwardly affectionate, especially in terms of PDA

However, hand holding makes him a bit more confident if he is trying something new 

Lance would otherwise show his affection with small kisses when no one is looking (or is, he’s the King, he doesn’t care) 

Thoughtful compliments - not just “you are beautiful” but more deep things like “I value your opinions” and “You being here means the world to me” 

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

You’d probably be the mom friend and have to remind him to get some sleep once in a while

He’d be super loyal though: he doesn’t want to lose you as a friend after what happened in the past

Going off of the Alice game theme, it is likely the two of you would bond over pure stubbornness

ie you won’t stop pestering him about doing something one way and it ends up working… so now he thinks very highly of you and considers you a good friend (even if he won’t say it aloud)

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

Occasional cuddles; he’s not a cuddle bug but he’s not against it either

Maybe he’s had a long day and the first thing he wants to do is lie against you

Pet his hair while he’s complaining about Edgar and Jonah and Lance will absolutely melt

Or, if he’s the big spoon, he squeezes you tightly for good measure

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

Lance values his duty as king and likely would not revert to a country home on the side of a hill 

Cooking… is edible… 

Knows how to keep neat, but he does not consciously clean

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

It would be painful for him, please believe that 

He thinks that you will be safer and better off without him

Lancelot is not the best at saying goodbye, so he will probably avoid you at all costs…

Originally saw marriage as a political alliance, but really does want to get married

He’d plan the proposal and make it as magical as he possibly can

The wedding would be elaborate in decoration and detail, but smaller in terms of attendance (he wants the people important to him to attend)

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

Physically? Depends, but he tends to be gentle because he’s worried of hurting you by accidentally being too rough

Emotionally? He needs some work before he’s “gentle” 

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

Same with cuddling, not the biggest hugger, but appreciates an embrace from time to time

His hugs envelop you with a sense of serenity and safeness 

When you press against his chest, Lancelot feels at peace and it is a good way to reduce stress! 

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

Not going off of canon, but it will take him some time

Lancelot still feels like he has to go a long way to prove himself, so don’t pressure him into saying something 

It doesn’t mean he doesn’t love you, he just has to learn for himself how he defines love

When he does say it, it comes naturally and it feels natural too

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

JEALOUS BOYO

Especially if you’re talking with Jonah, Sirius, or Harr. Or anyone. 

If he’s next to you though, he feels better about it

When he gets jealous, expect him to try to leave the situation (with or without you)

To remedy this, you only need to squeeze his hand and help engage him into the conversation! 

Not that you would purposefully ignore him, but that would make him a bit jealous too

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

He can do soft kisses to heated kisses to not-appropriate-for-a-sfw-hc type kiss

Lancelot prefers to kiss your lips, but he does not mind exploring your jaw and neck

Adores temple kisses and occasionally palm kisses (makes his fingers tingle a bit)

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

A bit weary at first, but comes to kind of like playing with them

Who else is going to ask about his fourth favourite robe to wear???? 

He hasn’t considered that like ever 

But Lance is not the best person to handle kids if they get antsy or misbehave

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

If it’s a soft sleep-in-late morning, Lance will either sleep through it, with his leg over you, or he will sit up and read a bit until you wake up 

He likes it when you nuzzle against him

In which case, he will set the book down to hug you and make sure the blanket is covering you well 

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)

Lancelot is probably doing paperwork/organizing things for the next day, so he’ll need some coaxing to turn in for the night 

Nights might include showers/baths together, you brushing his hair gently, maybe a spa night sometimes 

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

It’s cannon that it takes Lance a bit of time to open up properly

When he does trust you, Lance will sit you down and explain that he has a long story to tell you

He doesn’t want any secrets between the two of you, and so he wants to set an example and clear the air

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)

Depending on the situation, he can be patient or not 

Try not to anger him, he won’t lash out on purpose but he doesn’t like being wrong in a situation

Lance is good at weighing his options and coming to his own conclusions

Furthermore, he’s used to doing things alone, so don’t force him to suddenly have patience that he’s not used to practicing

Once he’s attached to you emotionally, he’d feel like he’s lost something if you ever left

He’s… not shy, but he’s nervous because he doesn’t really want to talk too much

As king, qualities like loyalty are really important to Lance, so if his partner betrays him, it will crush him
