Can you show us how you made that background for you wolvden post? It's so simple and pretty I'd love to know how to do that!
im gonna start with a disclaimer that im not experienced when it comes to backgrounds, and someone with more experience would probably have way more useful tips.
but hereâs how i do it
heres the background i did for the piece in quesion, without the wolf in it.
unfortunately, i have a nasty habit of merging all my layers, so i dont have a good step-by-step for this one, so instead i painted a new background very quickly and didnt put as much effort into it, but hopefully itll illustrate my explanation.
1. paint the basic shapes of the land. for me, that means separating out the land from the water and sky. an important thing to keep in mind while doing this is that as things get further away from us, they gradually become more pale blue, because of the atmosphere. so make sure to suggest distance this way. darker in front, light blue in back
2. begin with some basic squiggles that will eventually translate into trees and grass. with my method, its important for me to lay down a much darker layer for the grass first, to go beneath it. this will help the grass look like it has more depth later.
3. the grass.
4. the foreground. and if all youre doing is a landscape, this is where you can finish up by adding some more details if you want. but if you like putting characters in your art, you might consider doing this-
5. merge all but the foreground layer, and then add a guassian blur. if your character is up close, i suggest blurring the background, but if your character is far away, i suggest blurring the foreground. obviously i havent put a character in this one, but you can see how a blur on either foreground or background helps guide the eye.
to reiterate, backgrounds are hard to draw. but hopefully this simplified method helps you out!
personally, Iâm trying to seriously improve my landscapes and backgrounds, so iâm taking some of my inspiration from the art of Alfred Joseph Casson. and i suggest you do the same if these simplified backgrounds interest you.

Anon asked: Prompt: angst Roger and y/n because heâs jealous after a party
A/N: 5981 words!! What?! Like, itâs not explicit, but I might have given the reader a slight praise kink. Some sexual content. There is mentions of cheating, just to let you know if that makes you uncomfortable. There might be a problem with pacing but like... suspend your disbelief. Also.... youâve got a big storm coming.

Your grip is white-knuckled on the armrest as you felt the plane rumble beneath you; anxiety is clutching at your chest as the world falls away beneath the wings of the machine and youâre rising into the sky. Roger isnât outright laughing from where heâs sitting next to you, but it looks like he wants to. Thankfully, for his sake, he contains himself, resting a hand on your thigh, rubbing it in a gentle, comforting rhythm.
âYouâll be fine, love, these things hardly ever crash, and if this one does, itâll make the news, probably.â He shrugged, and you glared at him, trying to push down the anxiety curling in your stomach.
âYouâre the single least reassuring person Iâve ever met.â You snapped, but he just grinned wider, his hand moving higher on your thigh, your legs part just a little, out of instinct, and youâre too anxious about the flight to even blush at it.
âI could distract you instead.â He offers, giving your thigh a gentle squeeze. Something eases in your chest and you relax your grip on the armrest to put your hand on his. âLove?â He asks, watching how youâre leaning your head back against the headrest, eyes closed, like you were trying to go to your happy place, wishing you werenât trapped inside this plane. His hand twitches to move away when he doesnât get a response, but then your own hand is guiding his a little further up, and youâre wearing a little, playful smile, though itâs strained. Roger has to bite back a laugh.
âCould you please wait until the seat belt sign is off?â Johnâs voice interrupts both of you, pressing his face into the space between your headrests where heâs sitting behind you, sounding characteristically exasperated.
âOr wait until we land, like any decent human being.â You can hear Brianâs sigh from where heâs sitting beside John, his words followed by a world-weary sigh.
âYou were both cuter when you thought we didnât know.â Freddie says, matter-of-factly, and Paul hums in agreement, the two of them sitting in the two seats in front of you.
âSo were you.â Roger snaps back, leaning back into his chair, sullen at the sudden onslaught of bullying from his band-mates. âAnd get your bloody face away from mine.â He smacks Johnâs forehead with his free hand, which has the man retreating, but youâre silently thankful. Despite this, youâre also flushing with embarrassment, which is only quelled when Roger flips his hand over on your thigh to lace his fingers with yours, giving your hand a comforting squeeze.
Itâs weird, to be in public, well, sort of public, and to be allowed to actually be with Roger. Youâve always been so hyper aware of his image, careful to keep your distance where prying eyes might be lurking, the last-performance kiss notwithstanding, but here, in the relative safety of first class - and god, that was a mind-boggling realisation - heâd wrapped his arm around you. Once the seat-belt sign has been turned off and the in-flight movie has started, he pulls you into his lap on the luxuriously spacious seat. Everyone on the flight has headphones to listen along to the movie, and the plane is almost silent as everyone looks to the overhead screens. It starts innocently enough, except sitting on Roger isnât exactly comfortable; heâs got one hand resting on your thigh, innocent enough, and the other on the armrest, but you find yourself shifting every few minutes trying to get comfortable, but it isnât really working.
âAre you right there?â Roger moves your headphones off of one of your ears, speaking low and quiet, only to you. When you look at him, heâs not even looking you in the eyes, heâs looking at your lips, and you feel your chest tighten, though in a very different way to the plane taking off earlier.
âWhat?â And you shift again, trying in vain to get more comfortable before you feel him hard and pressing against your ass through his pants, and it dawns on you. After a moment, you lock eyes with him, finally, and wiggle again, deliberate, suppressing a smile. He leans in to kiss you, rough, insistent, his hand on your thigh moving dangerously higher.
âLetâs not ruin everyoneâs movie,â he breathes as he pulls back, his hand moving to give your ass a light tap, and you take the hint, taking off your headphones and making a beeline for the bathroom. You find yourself waiting for almost five minutes in the stall before thereâs a knock at the door and Rogerâs whispering your name. You havenât even fully locked the door before heâs pulling off your shirt, murmuring about how you both had to be quiet, though he was grinning in that way that made you melt, and made you want to be anything but quiet.
When you head back to your seats none of the others comment on it, though they do seem pretty enraptured with the movie. Your anxiety at flying had dissolved; youâre feeling all warm and syrupy in the afterglow, and Roger clicks down the armrest that separates your two seats, and shifts so that you he can still wrap his arm around you, but youâre sitting next to him, your legs stretched out and arching over his. He puts his own headphones back on, smile supremely satisfied, and you give yourself a little, mental pat on the back, but donât bother with your own headphones, resting your head on his shoulder and falling asleep, feeling secure and safe with his arm around you.
When you land, you find yourself whisked almost directly to the new tour bus, and you suddenly find yourself filled with a new uncertainty. The space, at least compared to what you were used to, was lavish, not a single road case in sight.
âYou guys live like this?â You crowed, eyes wide as you raced through the spacious vehicle, plopping yourself down on the cushioned bench beneath the back window while the rest of the band, and the crew travelling in this bus started getting settled in.
âWell yeah, was the other bus really that different?â Roger asks, joining you, sprawling himself out across the seat. The sheer absurdity of his question takes a moment to sink in, but after that youâre laughing, loud and a little bit uncontrollable, mind alight with memories of hot, bump afternoons riding along at the back of the equipment bus, sat atop a road case, holding a light and gels and trying not to touch the drum kit where it was stacked up beside you.
âGod, I would have killed for a cushion.â You breathe, wistful, relaxing further, if it were possible, into the seats. After a beat, you look around at where everyoneâs gone quiet; Freddie and John were setting up a board game and Brian was lounging on one of the sofas running along the inside of the bus; youâre pretty sure Rogerâs the only one who hears you anyways. âI much prefer it to flying though,â you admit, shifting until you can rest your head on Rogerâs shoulder.
âReally?â He asked, voice quiet enough that only you could hear it. âI thought it was a pretty decent flight.â And he reaches up to pinch at your side playfully when the bus starts up. The two of you dissolve into play-fighting, which the others donât pay much attention to, entertaining themselves as the trip to the first destination began.
âYouâre- you- they call you Spotlight, donât they?â The voice that greets you before for the first crew meeting is bright, eager, faintly accented, and when you turn, you see it belongs to a sweet looking boy with big, brown eyes, clutching at a clipboard. Laughing a little awkwardly, you nod, and his whole face brightens at the confirmation. âIâm Robbie; Iâm stage managing, and theyâve got me operating the lights.â He sounds so damn excited, itâs a little endearing, and after a beat, heâs peppering you with questions about the American leg of the tour, which you answer with ease.
Youâd been worried, not that youâd ever admit it, integrating into a whole new crew; the American tour was staffed with people youâd been working with for years, and here, everything and everyone was new to you. Seeing Robbie smile, so kind and welcoming, it felt like you could breathe.
âHow the crew?â Roger asks, and heâs stuck with fond deja vu, sitting behind his drums, watching you cut a whole new set of gels. Youâre humming something he canât quite pick, but you seem happy enough.
âYeah good,â you concede, only half paying attention as you work, âtheyâre nice, very welcoming.â You tell him, and he makes his way to you, sitting beside you on the drum risers, picking up some scraps of the gel. After a moment, your hands still, and you watch his, smiling with confusion, before looking at him. âWhat-â but heâs looking back at you, and he leans in to kiss you once you look up. Putting the gel and the scissors down, you take his face in his hands, giving him an endearing smile.
âIâm working.â You said softly, but he just grinned, leaning in to kiss you again. Itâs fun and easy to be with Roger at times like this, times when neither of you had to worry about what other people thought, or who saw you together; you were happy and so was he, and thatâs what mattered.
It gets a bit harder, you realise, when in Glasgow youâre leaving the hotel with the band and a few paparazzi come after you; at first theyâre shouting at the band but then they spot you where youâre by Rogerâs side, trying to keep your face hidden. You see your picture in some gossip rag the next day when Robbie gives it to you with a long suffering and apologetic look.Â
âThe boss wants you to be more careful about being seen.â Heâs rolling his eyes at the bossâs words, however, when you ask him what he means, you learn that youâd been photographed with them in America, and people were starting to speculate that you might be part of the tour group. The Boss thinks it reflects poorly. The rest of the band is in the photo, but youâre the one being accused of being a world-travelling gold digger in the article.
When you tell Roger, or more specifically show him the article and make an offhand comment about not really being seen with the band in public anymore, he throws the magazine across the hotel room, scowling.
âTheyâre printing lies, Spotlight, what do you care?â He asks. Youâre gentle when you step towards him, resting your hands on his shoulders.
âI care about my career and my reputation, Roger, you understand, right?â Voice soft, you donât move until he looks at you, expression a little hurt. âI know Iâm not a gold digger, but if I want to get anywhere in life, I need other people to believe that too.â You explained, and he didnât exactly seem happy about it.
âYouâre fantastic at your job, babe, isnât that enough?â He asked, and you felt yourself flush, suppressing a grin at the praise.
âI wish it was.â You told him, voice a little forlorn, and he leaned in to kiss you, a silent agreement to your request. After a moment you pulled back, actually letting yourself grin. âYou think Iâm good at my job?â You asked, giggling, and Rogerâs expression brightened as he huffed out a laugh.
âYou know I do.â And itâs the most gentle you think youâve ever heard him, the sweet sincerity shifts as his hands come up to rest on your hips. He knows all too well the effect he has on you when he compliments your work. âHow many times do I have to tell you?â He asks, a single eyebrow raised, teasing edge to his tone.
âI mean, if you told me too much I think we both know Iâd never get anything done.â And your fingers are nimbly undoing his fly. With a cheeky grin, he kisses you again, rougher, biting at your bottom lip before you pull away.
âYou say that like itâs a bad thing.â He muses, watching the way you wet your lips, smiling at him. âYouâre very good at other things too, love.âÂ
âI know.â You watch him through your lashes, biting your lip to keep from laughing as his whole face lights up and heâs snorting out a laugh at your response, and you fall to your knees, already pulling down the waistband of his jeans.
He doesnât like that you insist on leaving the hotel at different times, becomes a little clingy in the mornings when you go to get up, but he always manages to tug you back down to him, and you get lost in the way he smiles in the early morning sunlight, the feel of his lips on yours, the way he laughs softly against your skin.Â
Despite this, he keeps his distance around other people. The band he doesnât worry about, but he stays up by his drums during lunch, and sometimes during the after parties you attend, heâll disappear for a few hours at a time, and you find him at the bar, reasonably hammered, surrounded by fans fawning over him. He always goes home with you though, so you try not to feel too jealous.
âHey, Light? Iâm getting lunch, do you want anything?â Things start going downhill the day Robbie pops his head in during your lunch break; youâre at the top of a ladder, fiddling with the angle of a parcan, and Rogerâs at his drums.
âNo thanks.â You call back, chipper, shooting the ASM a smile, and when he leaves, Roger frowns at you.
âDid he give your nickname a nickname?â He punctuates it with a laugh, but it sounds more angry than anything else.
âThatâs Robbie,â your explanation does not seem to placate him. Youâd been spending a lot of time with Robbie, the two of you bonding over both having worked on Bowieâs last tour. âHeâs German.â You add, as if the fun fact might warm Roger to him.
âI know how to pick accents.â He snapped back at you, and you actually stopped your work to look at him, a little shocked and defensive at his tone. Heâs not looking at you, heâs gone back to watching the door.
âHeâs the ASM, Rog, chill out, we work together.â You tell him. He doesnât respond, and all you can do is go back to your work, a squirming discomfort making itself known in your chest.
He disappears after the show that night, not coming to find you after bump out like he usually would, and you try to assume the best; that heâs too high from adrenaline and the endorphins of such a good show that heâd wanted to ride the hype the rest of the band. It wasnât deliberate, you told yourself.
âYou going to the after party?â Robbie asks carefully, hands in his pockets, still wearing his own theatre blacks. You realise you must look a little lost, and when you decide that you are, you tell him, and he offers to walk with him. Heâs sweet, excitedly gushing about how he canât wait for the Munich show so he could see his girlfriend, and you find yourself enthusing about how exciting it is to be travelling around Europe. Once you step foot in the pub, the two of you part ways, Robbie heading for the bar, and you seeking your own boyfriend.
His whole face lights up when he sees you, and the anxiety that had been building in your chest dissipates when he wraps his arms around you, spinning you around.
âIâm sorry, I got caught up.â He told you, but he doesnât kiss you, just pulls you down to the sofa with him where Freddieâs in the middle of an animated discussion with Brian.
It happens again at the next stop, he leaves you behind and you make your way to the after party talking with Robbie. Heâs kind, sweet, looking forward to marrying his high school sweetheart. If youâre being honest, itâs nice to have someone to talk to who understands your side of touring, being another interchangeable face to the talent youâre helping, someone down to earth and . He gushes about how jealous he is of your friendship with the band, starry eyed in the cool night air.
Again, when you arrive at the venue, Rogerâs already there, and he doesnât get up this time, just beckons you to him with a bright smile. It doesnât ease your discomfort like you hoped his smile would.
âAre you mad at me?â You ask gently one night; the two of you were walking in relative silence, side by side, not touching for fear of paparazzi, you try to justify.
âNo, why?â He asked, and you look at him, eyes narrowed as you examine him, and his smile is a little far away when he looks back at you. After a long moment of silence, he takes your hand, pulling you both to a stop, facing each other. He wraps his arms around you, still giving you that far away smile, and he kisses you. âIâm sorry I keep leaving you behind, love.âÂ
âSo youâre not mad at me?â You confirm, stepping back and taking his hand, continuing to walk.
âOf course not; should I be?â And the way he says it, so perfectly fucking harmless, has the hairs on the back of your neck standing up.
âNo!â You defend, and heâs laughing easily in the moonlight.Â
It keeps happening, sporadically, and it always seems to coincide with whenever he sees you and Robbie together, or Robbie comes in to offer to get you lunch, and you know whatâs happening before you dare to admit it.
On some of the nights where you opt to go straight back to the hotel, youâre woken by him flopping into bed beside you, wrapping his arms around you and pulling you to him, warm and protective, at odds with the discomfort in your chest.
âMissed you.â He yawns, smelling of alcohol and cigarettes, and one time, of faint, fruity perfume that you donât recognise. When you ask him, he says that someone spilled a cocktail on him, and you realise you canât even tell if heâs lying or not.Â
âYou jealous?â And you can hear the sleepy smirk in his words, and your own tired mind is unguarded, unfiltered.
âA little.â You whisper into the silence of the hotel room. He doesnât answer you, but his grip on you tightens, and he hums, the meaning of which you canât decipher. It takes you a long while to get to sleep after that.
It comes to a head a few weeks later, however, the night they perform in Paris.
âI miss her so much.â Robbie bemoaned you as the two of you walked together, his arm tucked into yours as he waxed poetic about his now-fiance. âShe sent me a care package and I swear I almost cried in front of the sound operator.âÂ
âWhy?â You laughed, and Robbie groaned.
âI opened it in the bio box because I picked it up from the front desk on my way here, like right after checking in.â By the time you get to the after party, the music is already blaring, and like always, you split up to go your respective ways. Roger greets you warmly, making room for you on the sofa he was sprawled on, wrapping an arm around you as he continued his conversation with a starry-eyed groupie, who didnât even acknowledge your presence. You make conversation with John, whoâs hovering near the arm of the sofa, bopping along to the music, looking a little bit longingly at the dance floor.
Roger goes to get a drink a little while later, smiling and asking if youâd like anything, and as soon as heâs gone, Robbie, now quite plastered, pours himself into the empty seat.
âI called her- Spotlight, I miss her so much - and she told me she loves me and she canât wait until I get home; should I walk back to Germany? I wanna see her.â He asked, words blurring together a little from his accent and his inebriated state, and he rests his head on your shoulder.
âThis is Robbie; he misses his fiance.â You explain to a confused looking Freddie, whoâs expression melts into one of adoration, and he âawwâs at that. Robbie is starry-eyed for a long moment, before he turns to you.
âShould I walk to Munich? I miss her.â He reiterates, and you burst out laughing, petting his head fondly.
âNo, donât walk to Munich, you should go home, weâve got a big day tomorrow.â You tell him, and he groans, clearly not having received the answer he wanted. Instead, you get to your feet and offer him your hand. âIâll walk you back, weâre staying at the same hotel.â
You find Roger at the bar with one of your arms around Robbieâs shoulders where heâs pretty much legless, the lightweight. Thereâs a muscle jumping in Rogerâs jaw when he sees you, and you hesitate, giving him a confused look.
âHey, Iâm just going to take Robbie back to his room, okay? Iâm probably going to bed after.â You tell him. He doesnât smile, just offers you the drink he got you and blinks slowly when you wave it away. âIâll see you later, okay?â You ask gently, hoping to get a response from him, but heâs just giving Robbie a sour, calculating look. Robbie is transfixed by the lights behind the bar and does not notice.
When you finally get Robbie into bed, much later than you would have thought since he insisted on stopping at everything that caught his interest, and taking five minutes of standing still and explaining how beautiful his fianceâs eyes were, heâs still wearing his shoes. Once under the covers, he grabs your hands and looks you in the eyes, suddenly serious.
âYouâre good. Youâre a good sort, Spotlight.â He tells you, his accent coming in just a little thicker with his sincerity, and he pets your hands, before abruptly turning away from you and pulling the blankets up to his nose, clearly tapping out for the night.
The room you shared with Roger was just a few floors up, and youâre in the elevator when you realise youâd left your keys in your room. You usually did, you always went back with Roger, so you usually didnât need them. When you approach the door, you think you hear murmuring from the other side, but it could have been from across the hall, you donât think about it too much as you knock. Thereâs a giggled âshhhâ from the other side of the door thatâs less easy to play off, but youâre tired enough to think itâs just mostly-asleep Roger. You knock again, but no-one replies. Itâs too late to knock too much, and you know heâs a deep sleeper, so with a heavy, tired heart, you make your way down the hall.
âWhat do you want?â Paulâs frowning at you when he opens the door, wearing his blue pyjamas, squinting at you.
âKeys to the bus please, I need somewhere to sleep, Rogerâs not answering.â You tell him, and punctuate it with a yawn. After a beat more of watching you, as if assessing your motives, he disappears back into his room and reappears with the keys.
âDonât lose them.â He warned, before closing the door on you.
The sofa in the bus is long enough that you can spread out, and you find someoneâs fur coat to use as a blanket. Itâs comfortable enough, a little cold, and itâs only when you hear a banging on the door and feel the sunlight on your face the next morning that you get up.
Opening the door, you see Roger standing there, looking up at you, waiting for entrance. Moving back to your makeshift bed, you take a seat, giving him a confused smile.
âI... didnât think youâd actually be here.â He already sounds like heâs in a mood, bitter, but a little bit hesitant.
âOf course I stayed here, I knocked but you didnât answer- what was up with that?â You asked, punctuating it with a yawn, rubbing the sleep from your eyes. He watched for a moment before he slid his sunglasses down his nose to glare at you over them.
âWhat are you doing here?â He asked, voice a little hoarse and scratchy, moving from hesitant to just quietly angry, the venom in his words hurting like a physical slap, and you sat up straighter.
âIâm-â And youâre searching for the words, but none come to mind.
âWhy are you still on this bus?â He explains in a hiss. After a beat, he slides his glasses back up his nose, and turns to look away from you, a clear dismissal.
Youâre at a loss as to how to explain that youâre here because... well, youâre always here, itâs where you were now. Heâs the one whoâd brought you here.Â
âWhat do you mean? Youâre the one who wanted me here.â Standing your ground, you donât dare let your voice betray how confused and hurt you were feeling.Â
âYeah, well now I donât.â He snapped. His words hit you squarely in the chest, and he leaves you in your shocked, dazed silence, moving to the back of the bus. âFuck off back to the equipment bus, since you prefer it so much better.â He snarled, and thatâs what unfroze you.Â
âChrist, I donât get paid enough to deal with whatever this is and ride in that bus, so thatâs a resounding âno thanksâ. And more importantly; what the fuck has gotten into you?â Emotion comes crashing back into you, rage tearing through you like a tidal wave, and you turn on him, jaw clenched.
ââWhatever this isââ he snorted, low and bitter, âyeah, but you get paid enough to fuck that little, brown-haired cockhead?â He asked, and your eyes went wide.
âWho? Robbie?â You asked, voice dangerously calm. âYou think Iâm fucking Robbie? Our assistant stage manager? Who just proposed to his girlfriend at our stop in Munich? That brown-haired cockhead?â You snarled, advancing on Roger like a predator cornering her prey, bitter tension gathering across your skin.
âWas he the one crying on your shoulder last night at the after party?â Roger raised an eyebrow, but the sting had left his words. Narrowing your eyes, you confirm with a single, venomous âyesâ. âOh.â
âIs that why you locked me out last night? You thought I was-â
âI was angry, okay?â He cut you off, sitting down at the back of the bus, and though his tone is angry, his demeanour, the way heâs avoiding your gaze and fiddling, itâs... almost guilty. In that moment, it was as if youâd been splashed with cold water, an icy realisation slithering down your spine.
âWhat does that mean?â Voice level, you try not to jump to conclusions, but your heart is already sinking. He doesnât answer. When he turns away, you see a hickey on his collar that wasnât there yesterday. âRoger, what did you do?â You asked, and the hurt was already bleeding through into your words.
âI was... I was so fucking angry.â Itâs not a real answer, itâs not even a real excuse. The way he says it, jaw clenched, heart in his throat, heâs all but bleeding guilt, too proud to ask for forgiveness.
âBullshit.â Your can feel tears welling in your eyes and threatening to spill, but your hands are shaking with anger, hurt, betrayal, and you donât even care. âYouâve been weird for weeks, you were just looking for the first out you could get.âÂ
âY/N.â He stands, reaches out to grab your shoulder, but you step back, out of his reach.
âNo.â Your voice is firm, but your lip is quivering. âI donât want you to ever touch me again,â wrapping your arms across your chest, looking at his outstretched hand with disdain through your tears. âBeing angry isnât an excuse. Jumping to conclusions isnât an excuse. I get that it must be fun fucking around with the girl who makes you work for it by your standards, but,â shaking your head, you sniffle, holding yourself a little tighter with one hand, you wipe away your tears with the other, âthe moment you have to work, have to put in a little bit of fucking trust? You couldnât even do that.â
âSpotlight, please-â
âIâm in fucking Europe for you, Roger! What in your fucking, dumbass mind thinks that Iâm someone who travels halfway across the world with someone just to cheat on them?â Youâre yelling now, grateful to be alone and worrying that others would join you at any minute. You didnât want them seeing you like this.
âFor me? Youâre here for work! Iâm opening doors for you in the industry that youâd never have opened yourself!â And he knows even as heâs saying it that itâs the wrong thing to say, but heâs too furious at himself, lashing out at the only person he could. He watches as your expression turns shocked, before shattering, and you start bawling your eyes out, holding your face in your hands. Regret floods through him, but as he steps forwards to comfort you, you yell for him to fuck off.
âI canât- I canât leave can I? If I leave the tour, theyâll think the tabloid are right, that Iâm some dumb groupie.â And you turn, distraught, and curl up on the sofa along the inside of the bus, still bawling, loud and ugly, great heaving sobs wracking your body as you realise the full extent of what had happened, and what it would mean for you. âYouâve ruined my fucking career.â
âThatâs a bit of an overstatement.â He canât even bring himself to apologise, sitting back against the window of the bus, watching as you curl yourself into a ball, the only sound filling the silence being your sobbing. It hurts, his heart is fucking aching, but he couldnât admit it. When you raised your head to look at him, your eyes red rimmed and lip trembling, he feels only a white hot guilt fill him from the inside out.
âYou donât get it, this industry is about who you know, and if all I am is some girl who Roger Taylor fucked, flew across the world, and got bored with, it doesnât matter how good at my job I am, Iâll just be another groupie with aspirations.â And you bury your face in your hands again.
âWe could... pretend like nothing happened, until the end of the tour.â He offers, quietly, the weakest hail mary pass youâd ever heard, and you roll your eyes at him.
âIâd rather have my dignity, thanks.â You spat, taking in a deep shaking breath as you finally sat up, wiping fruitlessly at your eyes as tears continued to flow, though you tried to pull yourself together.
âYouâre not under contract, you can leave if you want.â And it might literally be last on the list of things youâd wanted to hear at that moment.
âI get it, Roger, you donât want me around.â You snap, standing. âYou are who you are; I was stupid to think you were better than that.â You sniffled. When you turn and leave, heâs silent, replaying your words over and over again in his head until heâs absolutely livid at what heâs done.Â
When the rest of the band returns almost a full half an hour later, heâs trashed the entirety of the bus, even going to far as to rip up the cushioning on the bench beneath the back window.Â
âSo youâve heard the news I take it.â Brian looks at the scene before them, voice and demeanour both surprisingly nonchalant, and Roger, breathing heavily amid the carnage, gives him a sharp look. âSpotlightâs heading home, somethingâs come up with her family.â He explains. Behind him, Johnâs already started picking up a fractured mug, and Freddie is just frowning at Roger.
âYeah?â Is all Roger says, snatching up the cushions from where heâd thrown them, and flopping himself onto the back bench, facing away from them all.Â
âSheâs just talking to the production manager if youâd like to say goodbye.â Freddie offers, carefully neutral, and Roger suspects he knows somethingâs up with the story.
âShe doesnât want to see me.â He huffed sulkily, and the others lapsed into an uncomfortable silence. They can tell itâs a touchy subject but they donât pry. They donât hear from you, donât even know how to contact you if they had been able to, instead they watch Roger pick up different girls night after night, trash hotel rooms, and grow shorter when interacting with the crew, especially the assistant stage manager.
âI am who I am.â Is all he says, lips around a cigarette where heâs chain smoking in the empty theatre at lunch when Freddie finds him and finally asks whatâs wrong. Freddie wants to ask what happened, wants to ask why you really left, but he knows Roger well enough to figure most of it out. Rogerâs a ticking time bomb nowadays, so he doesnât pry.Â
The band doesnât talk about you, not when paparazzi and reports yell out asking where you are, not to the crew, they barely talk about you to each other, and they never talk about you around Roger.Â
The bus is quieter now.
Rogerâs louder now.Â
Thereâs an ache in his chest that wonât go away, that heâs filling with meaningless sex and too much booze because he canât stand waking up alone, and he still thinks about what you said, and the way you had smiled at him before it all went to shit. He remembers how youâd risked your life for a light beneath his drums, and sometimes at breakfast he finds himself thinking about how youâd thrown a plate of food in his face before you were even real friends, and he wants to yell, to scream, because how could he be so fucking stupid? Youâd seen him for who he was, and chose to be with him despite it, you thought he could be better than his reputation, but heâd just managed to prove he wasnât.Â
It hits him when heâs got his hands on some girl whose name he doesnât know that all he can think about is you, and he hates himself when he leans into the fantasy, not that the other girl notices. Heâd rather fuck around than admit heâd developed feelings for you, and so he does, and pretends like he doesnât miss your sleepy, morning grin, or the casual way the two of you would chat as you were rigging the spotlights for the band.
The day he finds out theyâve replaced you, the kid theyâve got is at the top of the ladder during lunch when he walks in, and heâs hit with such a sense of deja vu that he stops in his tracks.
âI was told this is the best time for me to get work done.â Her voice, thank god she sounds nothing like you, is hesitant, with none of the calm confidence you exuded at the top of the ladder.
âItâs none of my fucking business.â Roger snaps, and turns on his heel and leaves, pretending like it hadnât felt like heâd just seen a ghost. He gets another drink.

Delayed - Chapter 1: All the Roads
Summary:Â "All felt like they knew the others were far away, living ideal lives. They kept to their windows and phones for the ride, thinking about the others. They reminisced separately but prayed for the night to go by fast, to get to the places they needed to go. But the night hadnât even begun yet." High school ended 6 years ago, and with it, so did the friendship between Andi, Buffy, Cyrus, Jonah, TJ and Amber. But now their flight is delayed and they are stuck in a hotel together for the night. Not much can change in one night, though. Can it?

âThis sucks,â Buffy groaned down to phone to Marty, who laughed pleasantly in amusement.
âItâs okay Buffy, just a flight delay. Itâll let up,â he said reassuringly.
âNo, the flight got cancelled! I have to stay overnight in this hotel they are gonna put up all the people in some hotel,â Buffy said, pinching the bridge of her nose. âIâll only be able to reach by tomorrow afternoon.â
âThatâs okay, Buffy. Iâm sure if you call up the company, they will be willing to understand.â
âI guess. Itâs just so inconvenient.â
âTrue. But hey, maybe youâll get some sleep at this hotel now!â Marty said, trying to get Buffy to lighten up. She appreciated his efforts, letting a small smile form on her face.
âI love you, Marty. The bus is gonna reach in some time,â Buffy said.
âI love you too, Buffy. Get some rest, okay?â Marty said, before Buffy ended the call. She looked around her at the other passengers doomed to her fate. Nothing better than being stuck in a situation with people you donât know, and will never see again. She sighed and opened her phone, checking her social media. Scrolling through a bit, she landed on a picture of her and Marty from back in high school.
High school. Basketball, milkshakes, the Good Hair Crew. Andi and Cyrus. God, it had been so long. High school friends drift apart, but never had they thought back then that it would happen to them. But happen it did. Buffy sighed, scrolling past the picture, pushing away the memories. Dwelling did no good. Buffy was positive that if her friends saw her today, they wouldnât recognise the person she had become. And a part of her knew she wouldnât recognise them either. Shutting off her phone, Buffy leaned against the seat, looking out the window as the announcement for the arrival of the bus rang through the air.
At least the night would pass by quick.

Andi huffed as she threw down her duffel bag and sank into the shitty airport seat as she waited for more information about the transport to the hotel. She hadnât had any intention of spending her night there, but cancelled flights called for desperate measures. She pushed her sunglasses to the top of her head, unable to use her phone because it decided it was a good time to conk off. She rummaged through the meagre collection of magazines on the stand next to the seats, and settled for a travel magazine. She opened it and began to read from a random page, wanting only to pass the time. Beads of sweat were already forming on the back of her neck. Despite the air conditioning being on full. Maybe a leather jacket was not the best choice.
Andi busied herself in reading about the â5 Restaurants You Have to Try in Pragueâ, turning the pages lazily, every movement betraying disinterest. At one point, she felt someoneâs eyes on her. She turned around to see a guy around her age staring at her intently. With that look in his eyes. She knew that look. She had seen that look.
She despised that look.
âThe fuck you looking at?â she asked, making a dismissing motion with her hand as she raised her eyebrows at the guy. Â He just smirked at her.
âCanât a guy just look?â he said in that voice that exuded faux innocence. It sounded like nails on chalkboards to Andiâs ears.
âWell then, canât I just connect my fist to your nose?â she asked, smiling at him, her eyes fiery. That got him to look away grumbling, not before he whispered, âBitch,â under his breath.
Andi rolled her eyes and looked back at the magazine, not before shooting looks at all the people who were staring at her after that incident. âWhat are you watching? Nothing to see here,â she said, moving her hands as if she were shooing them away.
She hadnât always been like this, so snappy and angry. She had grown up a sweet, albeit dramatic girl. She had a weird but perfect life all the way till high school, with perfect friends and perfect relationships. But life is a bitch.
So you have to be a bitch to survive.

Cyrus: sorry mom looks like itll be tomorrow when i get a flight
Mom: oh dear okay cyrus. take care of yourself
Mom: see you tomorrow :)
Cyrus sighed and put his phone in his pocket, cursing the building headache that was making its presence very much known. He shut his eyes for a moment, trying to quell the pain. It was then he really regretted not carrying aspiring with him. Ignoring his headache, he looked around observing all the people sitting there waiting for the bus to the hotel. Diagonally across from him was a girl with brown hair just above shoulder length in a leather jacket, sunglasses perched on her head. She was flipping through a travel magazine rather disinterestedly. She had just told off a guy for staring at her, earning some passing comments about her being ârudeâ, but Cyrus was with the girl on this one. Though he didnât need to voice his support, she had the situation very much under her control.
For some reason, as he caught glimpses of her, Cyrus couldnât shake the thought that she looked incredibly familiar. He had the feeling that he knew this girl from somewhere, from a distant point in his life. But he couldnât place her.
He shook his head slightly. It was probably just a passing similarity. He opened his phone for a distraction, noticing an Instagram notification.

Curious, he clicked on the notification and it took him all the way back to senior year of high school, to baby taters and milkshakes. To the Good Hair Crew.
To TJ.
The picture wasnât spectacular, it was just a slightly shaky selfie taken by Andi, with him, Buffy, Jonah, Marty, Amber. And TJ. Cyrusâ boyfriend. Well, âthenâ boyfriend.
The picture made Cyrusâ breath catch in his throat, a wistful smile spreading across his face. It had been over 4 years since he had spoken to anyone in that picture. 5 years since he and TJ had practically broken up. 6 years since they left high school.
6 years since they hammered the last nail into the coffin of their childhood friendship.
High school and childhood friendships donât always last, they all knew that. It came to no oneâs surprise when the messages and video calls grew less frequent, they met up less and less. And soon enough, that was it. There was no great fight, no blowout. It just faded with time. Still, Cyrus couldnât help but feel a pang of nostalgia for his friends. And for TJ.
TJ Kippen waltzing into his life in middle school was the single most unexpected thing to have ever happened to Cyrus. He came in a cold jock, but it didnât take Cyrus long to see through the cracks to see the soft side, the kind and caring side. With TJ, Cyrus felt like he could do anything, which was saying a lot. With TJ, nothing was impossible. TJ burned bright like the sun, and for some reason, he saw the moon in Cyrus. But of course, high school ends, and so do high school sweethearts. In the end, it wasnât an explosion that ended them. It was radio silence. But a part of Cyrus missed him deeply. It was probably why he hadnât been in a serious relationship since TJ, settling only for the casual and running at the first sign of more.
Where could they all be? Probably further away than he could imagine.

âOkay I kinda wish now we didnât meet up and decide to get this flight together,â TJ groaned as he started to gather his things from around the seat.
Amber scoffed, rolling her eyes. âPlease, TJ. Youâre grateful Iâm here with you, or else you wouldnât know anyone.â
TJ simply looked away, knowing very well that Amber was right. They were both heading back to Shadyside to meet their parents, and TJ was both dreading and looking forward to it. On one hand, it had been 5 years since he had last been in Shadyside, so it would be good to see the place where he had grown up. But on the other hand, he was dreading his mother pestering him about his non-existent love life. He had only been in 2 real relationships, and only one of them was even worth remembering. But remembering was painful. How fitting that the place he was going back to was also the place that held the memories of that relationship at every corner.
Cyrus Goodman was, and always had been, an enigma to TJ Kippen. He had swung into his life, almost literally, with his soft encouraging smiles and reassuring words, making TJ feel like maybe, letting his guard down wouldnât mean the monsters would get to him faster. Cyrus had shaken him to the core in the best way possible, and God alone knows how someone as incredible as him could ever have fallen for someone like TJ. Their ups and downs had only made them stronger, but eventually, some downs are just too hard to come back from. College means drifting apart, it means leaving those people behind. It was practically mutual, but it didnât mean that the memories didnât come with that mixture of warmth and a sting.
âYo, TJ,â Amber said, snapping her fingers in front of TJâs face, bringing him out of his thoughts. âWeâre leaving now.â
TJ nodded, taking his bags and following Amber out of the gate to the bus.
Probably better to leave the memories back in Shadyside so he could finally truly move on.

Emily: I miss you
Emily: maybe we made a mistake
Amber didnât need to open her phone to read the messages again. They were burned into the back of her mind. With every step she took forward, the words inched closer to her heart. It didnât help that just above those messages were the ones where Emily was telling her, âI just donât feel the same way anymore,â and, âItâs not you, itâs meâ.
Bullshit. It was always her.
Amber couldnât believe that Emily even had the balls to send her a message saying she missed her. After she had brutally ripped her heart out and stepped on it with her signature Converse sneakers. That had been a month ago, and it took everything in Amber to try and piece herself back together. That was also part of the reason she was content in returning to Shadyside for a while. She needed a break, and going home seemed the best option. She needed to find herself again. As dramatic as that sounded.
TJ, who was walking next to her, purposely bumped into her, forcing her to smack him upside the head. But she was glad he was there. She didnât know if she could handle the memories of going home alone.
As she loaded her luggage into the bus, she let her mind wander to Emily. Was it a surprise she liked her? Not at all. She was exactly her type. Brown-haired, sweet and sunshiney personality, and proficient at crafts. There had been one person before her, but that was just a crush, and left at that.
Andi Mack.
Amber smiled to herself, thinking about Andi. Her bracelets, her dressing style, her smile, her laugh. While Amber had crushed on her from afar, that didnât erase the fact that Andi had become a really good friend of hers. She had helped her change from being the stereotypical mean girl, to being a girl who was tough but let people in. Amber wanted nothing more than to pick up her phone and talk to Andi, reminisce on the old times. But that wasnât going to happen. They had parted ways. Life had taken them on different paths.
Paths that would never intersect.

Jonah Beck got onto the bus, carefully clutching his guitar close to him. His suitcase had been stowed away, and he stared out of the window blankly. His hands were shaking slightly, the flight cancellation putting his on the edge. His breaths were growing incredibly unsteady, and he couldnât let it get out of control. He pulled on the sleeves of his jacket, scratching himself in the process. Ultimately, opened his wallet and pulled out a highly crumpled picture from it, and smoothed it out, the sight of it immediately calming him down.
It was a Polaroid he, Cyrus, Andi and Buffy had taken the last day of high school. Even though he no longer spoke to them, and their paths had diverged long ago, that picture was one of the only things that truly made Jonah feel at ease. He looked at it so often that the creases were growing at an alarming rate. But he didnât care. It went with him wherever he would go.
Loosely clutching onto the picture, he looked out the window as the bus moved, thinking about their whole friend group. Andi, Buffy, Cyrus, Amber, TJ, Marty. Where were they? What were they doing? He knew they would probably be far, far away, living their perfect lives. He smiled to himself, just wishing they all also missed high school, even if it was just for a second. He leaned against the window, closing his eyes, falling into a restless sleep until the bus reached the hotel.

As the evening progressed slowly into night, Andi, Buffy, Cyrus, TJ, Amber and Jonah sat in the bus to the hotel, all starting out thinking about their broken, messed up, confused lives. And all of their trains of thoughts leading to the same station. Them in high school.
All felt like they knew the others were far away, living ideal lives. They kept to their windows and phones for the ride, thinking about the others. They reminisced separately, but prayed for the night to go by fast, to get to the places they needed to go.
But the night hadnât even begun yet.

by popular demand, here is my oc chatter regarding stuff like relationships n random character traits. its rly long oops but i divided it by character at least lmao,, these are all things that i think id also wanna use if i ever use these characters as humans (which i def will at some point honestly)
- i thinkkkk i want toad and pike to date. toad would come across pike in their lagoon one day while hes wandering around on another wonked exploration and pike is like hey lol :B with their pointy teeth and long ass hair and toad is like :0 he just sits and talks with pike for hours and comes by a few times a week to hang out with them. they fall in LOVE
- fred and lani are def gonna date too. two butches who use he/him pronouns fuck yeah? they have a powerful relationship. mega BDE. power couple. not a lot of pda but alone together theyre both very loving and tender, its a vulnerability thing for both of them. like lani is very cool and can be either stoic or borderline obnoxious while fred is punkish. fred is very head over heels for lani thoÂ
- mardi n berg.....complicated....i gotta figure out how they actually end up together. berg is a jogger and mardi is a piercer/tattoo artist so that doesnt....make them line up very much in that department. ill think about it more and figure something out. itll probably have something to do with bergâs nose stripes and eye rings
- also side note on mardi......i want his backstory to include a grey period set off by his brother being eaten when they were both young at the troll tree. like he becomes angry and depressed, sorta like branch, his tattoos that he gives himself the only color on his body, until he learns to let go and his colors come back (high key this was inspired by 21 savage, mardiâs voice claim, and the line in his new song A Lot âmy brother lost his life and it turned me to a beastâ). ill develop this idea further but i just wanted to get it written down
- bismuth.......unsure. they had a crush on pepper and kept trying to ask her out until she came out to them as a lesbian, then they were like :â) but theyre ride or die theyre not gonna be an ass to her because they cant date her. they just care a lot about her. its like icarly
- gazpacho and jupiter CUTE two small trans trolls in That Love. i need to develop them more but. theyre just cuteÂ
- talia is still a little too new for me to develop her......but im thinkin about it...
- kinda same with ernie and olive. they kinda mostly just exist as cute babby characters right now? if anything olive is a trouble maker and ernie is a chatterbox
- clem and thursday also fuckin cute as hell......clem was a nervous wreck asking thursday out but theyve been together like ever since, which is more than a few years. they have a rly cute gentle lovey dovey relationship. thursday is usually hanging around up on her gfâs shoulder giving her kisses on the cheek
- bea and crystal.......adorabl relationship......crystal is another character thats kinda nervous but bea is so chill n confident is helps calm her down. theyre both trans and love the hell out of each other. rly slow n steady relationship, bea is very patient
- pj and marcus!!!! dumb mlm rep relationship. pj is so so gay for marcus he can barely comprehend it. its a dumb ego boost for marcus but hes also very in love with pj, he just expresses it in a weird cocky way idk marcus is a nerd. i need to make more content for them i think about these two way more than it seems
- dwight!! he has a boat. he lives on the boat.....ive thought about maybe pairing him with toad and pike. deciding on his voice claim has been the most difficult thing ever
- kass and current HELL yeah buff gf and tol gf......they spar with swords and wrestle for fun and hang out at the beach a lot. kass fuckin loves the gem on currentâs back. i gotta make more content for themÂ
- celia......i wanna do more with celia. friends with berg probs theyre both sporty. shes just a sweet giant troll who loves mushrooms. i gotta pair her with someone whose palette goes nicely with her pastelsÂ
- carrot and harriet are literally cricket and tilly from big city greens just older. yeehaw siblings. havent thought about relationship stuff with harriet yet.....i think she also needs ANOTHER redesign her colors are just too heavy still. maybe if i can make her colors compliment celiaâs that could work as a pairing? hm hm.....carrot tho is dating fordâs oc rye theyre gentle country gays
- rainer. hm. i dont think theyre rly the dating type......theyre just chill with being them. they just wanna swim and be funny
- hammond and andromeda are probs two of my least developed characters.....hammond still needs a redesign. he might be cute to pair with walter, theyre around the same age. andromeda tho i have no idea. she might be a nice pairing with eve? if i ever feel like pairing her with someone...who knows. eve is very carefree and might find andromedaâs energy too intense
- radish i wanna make more content for!! i rly like her a lot....i think shes another troll who isnt interested in dating. shes very focused on being a chef instead. loves her friends a lot!
- mack and pepper 2gether 4ever obvs......they have a relationship that gets richer with age for sure
- im just gonna ramble about mack. i thinkkkkkkk i wanna make her half latina? columbian specifically. she doesnt quite read as white and i didnt make her with the intention of making her white. anyway i love mack a whole lot and should really develop her backstory more. its not rly as like...ââtragicââ or whatever as pepperâs i know that but she def has layers. i wanna give her whole family more depth. she has a very complicated relationship with her own feelings and motivations that i need to think about more fully. my powerful femme tho i lov her
- mackâs parents, robin and champagne, i need to like....think about them more. they have kinda a comedic relationship thats sorta inspired by roger rabbit and jessica rabbit. robin is a very caring, gentle troll whoâs very smart and cares a lot about his nursing responsibilities in the village. champagne is very relaxed and the âvoice of reasonâ character of the family. she loves a good party and has her party planning down to a science. both are very successful power parents. kickass family
- i already talked about topaz and marney in a separate post but i still love them both so much. big wesbiabs
- pepper....pebber. im gonna talk about her the most obviously gfhjdkrs i wanna talk about her mental health i feel like i think about it a lot but i never write about it explicitly? this is gonna be long oops hgjfksd she has depression and ptsd stemming from the trauma of her crash...im thinking she also has adhd and thats just something shes always had. her depression rly got heavy during her recovery and right after like...she hated being bed/housebound and felt rly powerless to her situation and just let it eat at her until her personality had actually changed considerably. like extroverted wild child rebel to introverted, soft-spoken sulker. this got better with time but she still is pretty introverted, just turned her moodiness into chill energy.Â
- she has bad depression habits like letting dishes, old food, laundry, or just stuff pile up in her room until it gets overwhelming and she spends like two days just manically cleaning; or staying in bed for way longer than she should and messing with her hygiene; or eating way more or way less than she should eat in a day. just stuff thats hard to completely break out of when youre recovering. her color is pretty consistently the dark red but if shes having a particularly rough day she might look a little paler, or like a muddy brick color at her worst. thats kinda rare tho
- her ptsd is the thing she hates the most. for a while it made her feel very weak and sheâd beat herself up over being traumatized by the crash which was obviously not helpful to her mental state but she was really all over the place during her bodily recovery. its part of the reason why she started working out, she wanted to reclaim some sort of feeling of strength and power that she felt sheâd lost completely. she still gets really frustrated with this feeling of loss but she gets a lot of support from loved ones which has helped her not self-blame so much. her ptsd manifests mostly as nightmares/insomnia, chronic headaches/stomachaches, intrusive thoughts and sometimes flashbacks. the nightmares are what rly get to her, she really doesnt get a lot of good sleep and it can get to the point where she just doesnt want to sleep sometimes and sheâll stay awake until she crashes hard
- her scars used to be a big trigger for her ptsd, which is why she has her bangs covering the one on her face and wears long pants (her knee braces are too bulky for pants and would force her to wear shorts which would force her to expose her scars). she just. really really hates them. this is something she struggles with for a majority of her life
- once she and mack start going steady with their dating and start consistently sleeping in the same bed, pepper starts to sleep better. she still has nightmares that wake her up at least weekly, but having mack there to comfort her (whether she wakes mack up accidentally or if mack is already awake) helps a TON with getting her back to sleep soundly. it also just helps her sleep in general to have that comforting, loving presence in her bed snuggled up to her ;w; mack is a big help in general with pepperâs mental health, pushing pepper to make better, healthier choices and get out in the village more and have fun. mack for sure does not ââcureââ pepper of anything but shes a very positive light in pepperâs life that helps her pull thru tough times!

She-Ra Rewatch: season 3 and onwards through season 4, and boatloads of Introspection time!
So Ive been rewatching She-Ra with my partner, because sharing Entrapdak is caring. Sorry in advance, this is going to be a small booklet by the time Im done explaining, and thinking, and then attempting to stick words to abstract feels which sometimes im great at, and then others i fucking suck at...but at least this is all written and not me trying to say this to any of your faces! Thats....a mercy all of its own. Haa...  Anyway, while rewatching with my partner, I realized just how much more painful parts of it are to sit through now...they were the first time, and each time since, but NOW having spent a while mulling over the series as a whole a bunch, and reading a lot of other peoples writings on here and finding myself largely in agreement with most Entrapdak fanâs assessment of things, I just....feel like all the air is ripped out of me during some moments, watching with keener insight. And despite thinking i had myself reasonably well figured out by my age, its all also made me further consider a few things about myself as well. Particularly my notable internalized fury response to chunks of it which have been consistent through all my viewings of SPOP. With Hordak at least, its way easier to understand my reactions. For me at least. Maybe not so much for the people around me. And, shittier due to intensity and subject matter, but still easier in the long run because...the broken bits in me that he resonates with are fresher and sharper and still more recent, like within the last ten years, and thus more towards the front shelves in my head, compared to things that resonate with Entrapta, which are all old, lifelong dull aches at this point. I feel like nothing i can point to is fully sufficient to fully express my feels involving Hordak. But, maybe the best representative moment is with the crying i do every damn time I see his face looking up at Prime just after he glimmer and catra were beamed up...because ive seen that face in the mirror. I HAVE MADE THAT FACE. That same. Goddamn. Face. I may not have gotten a jab to the back of the neck directly from the person I made it at...but they often seemed to silently goad me to harm myself in an attempt to jolt my brain out of getting stuck in re-looping through what theyd just done/said to me. Likewise, much of his interactions with Entrapta are very...very weirdly familiar in feeling, but in a good way. Watching the stuff with Hordak hurts because fuck me if it isnt frequently like watching myself back in 2008ish to 2013, which was the duration of the worst parts of that particular circle of hell i parked my ass in. So...that makes sense. Hes so well written in those moments, it occasionally gave me PTSD flashbacks (still does a little, but now im prepared and braced for it and can shrug it back off....thanks, lifetime of therapy and years of studying abnormal psychology! Still totally not an expert, just very passionate...just, as a disclaimer). Entrapta though...Entrapta is a different story. Mostly, I see Entrapta and in her free expressions of delight and joy and her bouncy enthusiasm I am reminded of a younger, less discouraged me in some ways, and in others, a âmeâ I could have been, but...well, extremely early-onset anxiety and depression made me insanely self-conscious super-super early on...not that i was great at hiding or...i guess the term people seem comfy with is âmaskingâ? Which was a huge problem, or so it was in the 80s when far less was understood of such things. Id do so for a bit and then would forget to, in a way (because id forget long enough to go and trust again reflexively) and would get badly bullied and would squish everything down until id feel a crumb of safety again, and then almost instantly ADHD would pop that mask right the rest of the way off aaand it would start all over again. Ad nauseam until my teen years, where the depression sort of âfixedâ that, and made it much easier to destroy my desire to share much of myself freely at all, save for with one or two people, and to a less deep extent a broader circle of nerd friends. Course, then i hit 30 and ran out of the majority of fucks I used to give. Or I became so damaged and salted with anger that parts of me dont grow any fucks anymore? And, maybe thats where this time while watching, I started to really think back to all that, and to how i see Entrapta treated by the other princesses, or really just in general except by Hordak...and why it burns my biscuits so badly. Like its the fucking least she can do to make up for being weird in their space (...okay, that might just be the anger kicking in..but i dont feel like its an entirely innacurate assessment, is it?)  All of that...seeing it inflicted upon someone, It feels like someones punched me right in the damn sternum, but because its a hurt that im so desensitized to, it seems to have a much different effect than the sharp, violent crushing pain that i feel when I relate to Hordak a little too well for comfort. Again, i could go on, but its nothing more eloquent people on here havent already spoken volumes on. And my first gut reaction is always âI dont understand! why is that their reaction to her?! it doesnt seem logical at all, i dont seem to be able to parse it correctly, how is this acceptable? I HOPE SHE IMMOLATES YOU ALL.â. Which...I suppose isnt entirely usual for me (the silent wishing that people be immolated, I mean...i blame my past years of working in retail. im thinking the big Fires in Urica took place just a year ago - that way i can have all that evocative bushfire country without having to explain why its been so bad for so long. can have ruins n burnt out cars and shit. i mean, youd assume the cars would be gone, but theres probably some around. like, i thinking one location near Gym 6 is the âScorched Forestâ - wasnât always its name, but it will be many years before its original name is fitting again. its full of firey pokemon and probably some Komalas. and i thinking on the route through the forest, there could be burnt out cars there, that people abandoned as they realised they couldnt make it north and fled back south, to town. itll be probably be all around the lake and a bit further north along the route to the next town.
plus it means that the idea of the Org slowly eroding at the status of gym leaders is actually happening. Even if its because of an event the org/team werenât involved in (i fucking hope), theyll take advantage of this fact. they are similarly waiting on the 8th gym leader to make a slip. They ARE aware of the laundering, of the money stealing, but theyâre waiting for a public slip, or a good moment to capitalise on this knowledge to swoop and kick the out.
the only gym leader who doesnt strictly fit this mold is Isaac, who is firmly in the Orgâs hands as an ally. but thats part of the idea - theyre supposed to be the orgs connection to the people. theyre an authority - they ARE a gym leader! and if theyâre suggesting the gym leaders are failing in their duty, youâre inclined to believe them, yknow! so, if the Org can find a few âgoodâ gym leaders, convince them to side with them, theyâve got it all in the palms of their hands. Sonya is probably the only real spanner in the works because sheâs very vocal about how irresponsible the Org firefighters were during the Big Fires by listening to the Gym Leader at the cost of peoples lives. shes basically the only problem. all the other gym leaders fall neatly into place. except for maybe gym 5, which would explain the delivery your character is sent on - Felicity would very much like to start making connections with 5 so she can keep a better eye on him and catch him if he slips, which he inevitably will. of course, 5 is so astoundingly lazy that this actually fails, because he makes you take it to the mayor of a near by town instead, because he refuses to deal with it. an older man who tries his best and thus is of little use to the Org.
the plan of the Org, really, is to dismantle the gym leaders while boosting their own âratingsâ, if you will, so that eventually there will be noone to prevent them holding total control. the order of events gets a little shaky, but be assured that throughout ANY Team events in the game, the Org is sabotaging the gym leaders to make them look incompetent. except for a few, like Isaac, who they are deliberately securing as a power base. the city is very safe. there are a couple of slips, mostly because sometimes something has to happen (something such as what will probably introduce you to the Team :D). thats when they call Rhia in. in fact, ooh ooh, ooooooooh. i can play into that with when Rhia meets you. like shes telling you to watch out for Elliot, that he isnt super trustworthy, and then she has to leave, hence not getting into specifics. because SHE, over any other police officer, is called to handle an occurence in the city - because shes the least mobile. yknow, w/ the walking stick. sheâs faster than they think, but you can only go so fast. though, if theres an event with Rhia in the city, that doesnt really let me do the whole âskip the gymâ thing.... hmm. well, it doesnt necessarily, but.... hm. there was definitely going to be an event in 3rd town, with Will, but having Rhia in that seems like overkill. weâll just say the city is Safe. until the whole Fuck Shit, anyway.
what causes that, anyway? is it staged as like, a Team raid? an Org lockdown? both?? just a big fuck off confrontation. like, i guess the idea is that Team/Org is preparing to find the Legendary pokemon (whooo areeeee where???? where????? the east??????) and the Team is supposedly trying to attack the Org headquarters to prevent them interfering. so the city is in chaos as they come under Team attack (with a Team that seems suspiciously numerous) but you, having learnt the truth while you were in town 8 (theres a base there and Zeke probably tips you off, or Elliot, or both) strike at the Org tower with your bros to try and fuck them up. then you get to the top (dealing with Rhia and your rival, possibly) and fight Felicity and Dante, and both of them fucking scatter. just phoop right outta there. go âoh fuckâ and leave. whether they then both head for the legendary or just Dante, im not sure. i think the idea is that they split up, with Felicity attempting to salvage the Org, and Dante going to finish the Team shit, because someones gotta do it. course you kick his ass, he gets arrested (by the Champion, odds on), and youâve done it. gj, buddy. Felicity PROBABLY intended to meet back up with Dante so she could take the legendary off of him and present it to the public. the thing with this event now, with you throwing a spanner in the works, is that now they have noone to frame. you already arrested Small Fry earlier (uh, nooorth? around SOnyaâs town but not actually related to Sonya. well, not explicitly. the implication is that theyre probably trying to fuck her over), and while Jun was supposed to be there, in order to take the fall, he is currently still in the City dealing with the fucking riot shit. Rhia has gone AWOL in the sense that Dante sure as shit cant contact her (shes either like. in the city helping. contacting the International Police. or like. chasing down Felicity but with a huge delay so shes substantially behind). Thereâs noone left for Dante and Felicity to throw under the bus except each other, and they cant Do that. Dante probably has a few grunts with him, who were scoping the place in advance, but none of them are Big enough to take the fall adequately. theyre stuck. its a desperation move. instead of taking the legendary as the Orgs property, he plans to take it as th Teamâs property, and if heâs not seen with it, heâs still fine. heâll delay the big confrontation until a time when he can set someone up. heâll capture the legendary and flee. of course, you arrive before Felicity ever can, defeat him, free/tame the legendary, and the Champion also arrives to fuck up his day. nicely done.
this went tangential as fuck but i suppose the summary is - the org is slowly eroding trust in the League by presenting themselves as the superior defensive body (by throwing the gym leaders under the bus, notably ex-6, 5, Will, and 8, with shades of 7). Sonyaâs town is burnt to shit still. The city goes into turmoil after Felicity locks you in the base in town 8 (from which you are freed by Elliot, probably), as a âdistractionâ by the Team so they can go claim the legendary. of course, the People dont know this, but the Org do. so Dante and Felicity prepare to leave for the legendaries place (theyre waiting on a few key individuals, notably Jun) until you arrive with your Squad and you fuck them up. they flee separately, with Felicity seemingly disappearing, and Dante appearing at the legendaryâs home to capture it. you fuck him up, heâs arrested by the Champion, all is well.
also Isaac is Org-loyal and its a deliberate plan to keep using the good influence of the gym leaders in order to get rid of the bad ones. eroding the power source as a whole, if that makes sense. Isaac is trusted by the people and as such anything they say thatâs against gym leaders, even slightly, would be more readily accepted than anyone else saying it.
