Kaiju Week in Review (January 7-13, 2024)
Hard to talk about the Monarch: Legacy of Monsters finale without spoilers, so if you haven't watched it yet, skip ahead to the next item. No flashbacks this time (time dilation aside), just our surviving heroes finally all on the same page to solve a seemingly impossible problem. The momentous reunion between Lee and Keiko got the space it deserved, although I was a touch disappointed that the obvious budding romance between Cate and May got shortchanged. And of course we finally got our first kaiju fight of the series, with Godzilla dispatching the Ion Dragon in a quick but ferocious battle. Fun to see this version of the character take on a low-stakes, low-power challenger for a change. I am routinely frustrated by TV seasons ending on cliffhangers (some of which are then never resolved), but they managed to conclude this season's storyline while setting up the next one, should they have the chance to tell it. Good to have some payoff to the Apex episode earlier in the series. I'm wondering if the series is planning to pivot to Kong now. Since Godzilla: King of the Monsters still hasn't happened yet, the Big G still can't make any public appearances without breaking continuity, which is quite the writing complication.
youtube
@bog-o-bones has blessed us with an excellent feature-length video essay on the history of the kaiju genre. Even for a walking encyclopedia like me, it was fun to have it all laid out so cleanly—the way the three genre pillars of Godzilla, Gamera, and Ultraman rise and fall in popularity, never entirely in sync and consequently keeping us steadily entertained over the decades. So many narratives about the genre in print are decades out of date and/or act like barely anything past the sixties was worth making. This one's up-to-the-minute and gives the seismic influence of films like Cloverfield and Pacific Rim their due. I have my quibbles (last-minute re-records accidentally omitted GAMERA -Rebirth-; the original Mothra deserved more attention), but I acknowledge the amount of works covered here is staggering and every fan would tell this story a little bit differently. Highly recommended.
IDW's biggest Godzilla comic ever is coming in May, a one-shot anthology called Godzilla: 70th Anniversary. It'll have nine stories over 100 pages, with the writers including Joëlle Jones, Michael W. Conrad, Matt Frank, James Stokoe, Adam Gorham, and Dan DiDio. (Some of these folks will presumably be illustrating their comics as well.) The solicitation doesn't offer many plot hints, given that scope: "From the American Old West to modern Tokyo and beyond, this collection features stories of the King of the Monsters fighting with its allies like Mothra, against old enemies like the terrible Mechagodzilla, and reshaping the lives of all who fall in its path!" I'm surprised they're not waiting until November—hopefully it doesn't get delayed into November.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire will now release in the U.S. two weeks early—March 29. It's taking the place of Bong Joon-ho's Mickey 17, which is now undated. I can hardly complain about being able to see it earlier, though the move comes with some risk, as it's now opening the week after Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.
SRS Cinema has opened preorders for their Yuzo the Biggest Battle in Tokyo Blu-ray. Or is it Yuzo: The Biggest Battle on Tokyo? That's what the product page says, but on the cover the title's unchanged. Oh, SRS. Anyway, bonus features are scant: just trailers and something called "A Brief Introduction To Ishii Yoshikazu."
youtube
Here's the teaser trailer for Volcanodon, a short film from Taiwan's Creator Union of Tokusatsu. They're aiming to have it uploaded to YouTube sometime this year, and I'll happily watch it. Obviously low-budget, but it's well-shot and it's nice to see a kaiju movie outside of Japan go all-in on practical effects.

I'm not the biggest fan of cinemas so I don't make a habit of going but I'm so glad I decided to see Godzilla x Kong there, it's definitely my favorite film I've seen on the big screen
I've sat with it for a few days now and I think it's my second favorite Monsterverse and kaiju film overall too, only beat out by King of the Monsters and just overtaking Shin Godzilla which was my previous second favorite
Godzilla vs. Kong is kind of a disappointing film to me, but Godzilla x Kong feels like the follow-up to King of the Monsters I'd wanted;
Godzilla got a lot more to do and his characterization was better than in GvK, feels more like his KotM self again
two of the seventeen Titans introduced in KotM finally got some use (I'm totally fine with the way Scylla and Tiamat were handled personally, their fights were short but cool, and we already knew they'd been bastards several times thanks to the comics)
Mothra got a good amount to do and all her scenes were wonderful, they even gave us some MosuGoji
the human scenes were a lot better than anything from GvK, the monsters were treated as the real stars and given extensive scenes with no dialogue that just let their personalities and actions shine
that's only touching on the Godzilla side of it, which was a late addition since the movie was originally a Kong solo story, so I'm very pleased they still managed to fit all that in ontop of giving Kong the best story he's had yet and some really good new characters in Shimo (my sweet babygirl), Suko and the Skar King (who turned out to be a good villain after all)
if you have any interest at all in kaiju films, or even just want to watch a really fun movie, I'd absolutely recommend seeing it!!

I'm back from GxK!! heres my thoughts
I sadly had quite a bit spoiled but nothing can compare to seeing the movie in person, it was sooo much cooler in the theatre.
I kinda knew going in there wouldn't be much Goji, but I did really like when he was on screen. and tbh I don't quite get why people are villainizing him so hard for killing Scylla?? Like she was just destroying things for funzies. She was causing unneeded destruction so Godzilla had enough of her shit and took her out. Tiamat I can kinda understand but she also could've just ran away instead of fighting him.
His evolved design grew on me HARD, like I almost prefer it to his original design. The pink was soooo cool and I loved the look of his atomic breath, I even liked him being thinner. I adored the glowing eyes too, like that was so fucking cool. I do kinda wish we saw him using his thagomizer but I liked it nevertheless, for me its not about how much we see Godzilla, its about how he's used and I feel like he was used pretty well in this movie.
And I'd also like to issue a formal apology to Kong and his fans. I wasn't familiar with his game. Godzillas still my boy but I ended up really liking Kong, his story was really heartfelt. You could really empathize and relate to Kong throughout the movie, his story, emotions, and everything about him made me really like him, I also loved his bond with Suko.
this is also the first time I've genuinely liked the human characters in a monsterverse movie, really the first time I've actively wanted more of them. Loved Bernie and Trapper, more then I expected too. I assumed Trapper was just gonna be obnoxious since he was in the trailers but I really liked him. Bernie too, liked him a lot more then in GvK. I also ended up liking Jia a lot more then I expected too, she was a cool character. I liked her bonds and connections to the titans.
I do wish we saw more Mothra, but she was great when she was on screen. Loved seeing her and Godzilla on screen together again, I'd love to learn more about Mothra lore in the MV tbh.
As for villains, Skar king was pretty cool. He kinda got shat on in all the trailers so he caught me off guard seeing how ruthless he was, I wouldn't put him above Ghidorah but he was cool. I also liked Shimo and her big ass forehead, her size caught me off guard too, girlies massive. Visibly bigger then both Godzilla and Kong. I genuinely felt bad for her and seeing her get freed + find a new life as Kongs friend made me smile a bit.
I liked (most of) the fights too! I really liked the hollow earth 0 gravity fight, especially Godzillas part in it. I am for sure someone who prefers when the kaiju feel massive and have a ton of weight behind them, but that fight was so cool, Goji was badass and I loved seeing his evolved form in action.
The only fight I didn't like was the fight with Scylla, a 900,000 ton animal cannot move like that. That was a bit too silly even for me, and don't get me wrong I love a bit of silly monster fighting but meh. The godzilla suplex was funny as hell though, for sure unrealistic but funny so it passes. I liked the comedy a lot in the movie tbh, more then the other movies.
Also rq, I don't get why yall were calling the movie ugly?? Like some scenes kinda but it didn't look bad at all. The cgi was fine with me and I don't see why people called it a ps4 game, some shots were a bit wonky but not enough for me to really give a shit.
Overall? pretty good movie, I feel like the pacing could slow down a bit but I genuinely enjoyed myself a lot and had a total blast watching the movie. There was never a dull moment and I'd give it a solid 8/10.

Weighing in on the Bagan/Destroyah stuff with some ideas of my own, because I've heard people mention it a few times:
What if Bagan and Destroyah were divided between routes? Like Destroyah being exclusive to Genocide and Bagan being solely a Coexistence Endgame threat. Here's my thought process for each:
Destroyah fits Genocide perfectly, I think. Godzilla would most likely fight him years after his rampage- and I think it's really telling his final fight would be against a monster created almost solely by a weapon humanity designed to kill him. I almost see Destroyah as a sort of humanity stand in- a grotesque monument to Godzilla's most horrific sin, made up of trillions of microorganisms, perhaps symbolic of everyone he slaughtered, born of perhaps many Oxygen Destroyers humanity kept up their sleeve in case a situation like a rampaging Godzilla happened. However, they were unable to kill Evolved Godzilla, and humanity was wiped out by the billions. It's almost like a karmic inversion of the classic Godzilla tale: where he is a metaphor for humanity's sin of harnessing nuclear energy into a weapon, and Destroyah is a metaphor for the sin of Genocide. Something else important: I think this should be a solo fight for Godzilla. As much as it would hurt Mothra and Abraxas and his family deeply to know that he would not come home from this fight, everyone kinda knows the weight of sin is something he alone must bear and atone for- even if atonement means death, which it ultimately does. It also marks a designated endpoint for Genocide, which I think really suits it as The Bad Ending® (Good Endings in games usually let the characters have a long life for making the proper choices, it's karmic sure but also narratively satisfying. Bad Endings... don't do that). I mean, you totally could have Destroyah be in Coexistence- but major reason why I don't really vibe with it is that he would kind of need to be the end of a major character (basically universally agreed to be Godzilla- it kinda just makes too much sense not to), but a Godzilla death in Coexistence just seems- weird to me. Sorry if this is blunt but like- why? What purpose would it even serve? Thematically he would've been fighting tooth, claw, and nail to build a good relationship with humanity and be a stalwart defender of the planet- despite horrific PTSD from Ghidorah and Xenilla, had taken so much shit from humanity and their crazy bullshit but refused to give up on them and go all murdery, and if Ozzy's alive there'd be the added aspect of him having to save him back when that all happened. I'm not sure how satisfying it would feel to only reward him with a heroic death when all of Coexistence points to a hard-fought happy ending where he gets to grow old with a humanity he's made peace with and a reunited family by his side (ikik; there goes tosho again with his 'no akctually this character should be allowed to live' crap. When's he gonna grow a pair and start letting people die in his HQs? Idk man maybe being a jjk fan has given me an aversion to deaths in stories or something, but to me characters are the beating heart of a story and I value them functionally in writing above every other aspect of a narrative- so whenever I want to kill one off I make sure I have a damn good reason to do so, as a lost character is directly trading off any later plots that could be written with them. lmao death rant in the middle of what's supposed to be a shorter ask, tbh normal behavior of mine at this point)
Ok, Bagan. Gotta credit my guy @zerm2v0hg for a lot of inspiration on this front, as lots of stuff here draws on their posts about Endgame-Abraxas stuff. Like Zerm mentioned he could have more of a personality compared against Des, which I think would suit him as a more sinister antagonist in Coexistence- a more cunning foe the Titans must overcome as opposed to the Icon of Sin lookalike in the other timeline who only cares about sweet bloodshed. A very important detail about Bagan is also that he's canonically made up of both Ghidorah and Godzilla's cells. So- what if this ends up being Ghidorah's next form? One of their asks did mention Ghidorah coming back to destroy London (to further fuck up Vivi, as if she needs further fucking up lol). This could be a kind of Composite Form of his that combines Ichi, Ni, and San's intelligence into a single mind for greater efficiency, merging both his and Godzilla's biology (or- semi-crack idea, he could see himself as kind of like a twisted offspring of Ghidorah and Godzilla; semi-crack because he'd call himself the son of Ghidorah and Godzilla and the entire cast would just deadpan at him while Godzilla tries not to retch at the thought of having a kid with Ghidorah). Either way, Bagan's big gimmick is his Shapeshifting power, where he modifies his body into different forms at will, like a controlled evolution- similar to what Shin does just way faster and efficient at killing his enemies. I feel like you'd need a full cast of fighters to take something like this on- as there's no way he'd be able to counter everyone at once, so when he swaps to counter one person someone else takes point against them, giving the others time to shine against him. Him being a new version of Ghidorah could also be kind of a progress report of how far the world and Titans has come since Boston- and even Russia.
I approve of Bagan and Destoroyah being Route exclusives. It's kind of like Pokemon! But with DEATH AND DESTRUCTION.

[Kong: Skull Island/Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2017/2019)] Private Reg Slivko = Dr. Rick Stanton
Okie dokie, here we again.
Before we start this one though, I'll admit it's gonna be stretchy. Honestly, the more I researched it, the more I wanted this theory to be correct because the people behind the scenes were sooooo close to connecting all the dots and it was maddening that they hadn't. So with that, I give a push. Hopefully the right people are listening and if not, well it's some fun head-canon. Which is allways the goal!
Tl;dr: After his time on Skull Island, Rick Stanton (who's army nickname was Reg Slivko), motivated by fear and his love of music, got degrees in sound engineering to become a crypto-sonographer so he could be of more use to the world in its defense against M.U.T.O threats.
A lot of places to start but continuing off music is the best. Especially when comparing the characters side by side. This was something I only realized in reading up on it,
but in Kong: Skull Island (KSI and GKOTM as the other one from here on out), Slivko grabs his personal record player out of the helicopter wrecks and carries it with him through the movie. Now that's a level of dedication for a luxurious item that speaks volumes. That thing's heavy. Like, 1980's cellphone-as-luggage heavy. It's an unknown jungle and you've just been attacked by a giant gorilla. Deciding to lug a record player through that is.... well, it's insane. But hey, I begrudge a person their little pleasures. Most of all in moments like that. What's it mean though?
It means that Rick Slivko loved music so much he decided to go to school for acoustics after the army. I mean, that's the point, right? Join the army, get some money and training, and use them to do what you wanted to do [Not that that's how it actually works 😘 ] And why wouldn't he want to get a leg up after seeing everything on Skull Island. That kind of thing gives you some serious life lessons along with a dose of motivational PTSD. It makes double sense too when you realize that in the briefing Reg Stanton was given at the beginning of KSI, the Landsat officers said that they would use bombs to measure the acoustic vibrations in the Earth. Upon learning that too, what's he say?
"Ya hear that, boys?! We're scientists now."
So R.S. got scared, realized that bullets and bombs wouldn't solve the problem and went and got a doctorate to help for real. Stranger things have happened. And really, would you blame him?
"I record everything, man. Everything."
This is why he's such a fan/proponent of Dr. Houston Brooks' Hollow Earth theory and also explains his playful rivalry with Ilene Chen. They all know each other from waaaaay back.
And this is where I'm gonna ask for some audience cooperation. The behind the scenes material is slightly contradictory on what this is saying. Now, according to Gojipedia,
Rick Stanton earned his doctorate while at SETI and THEN met Brooks while working at Landsat and hearing MONARCH rumors. AND amazingly, seemingly missing a good story opportunity, San Lin in KSI is NOT one of the Mothra twins from GKOTM. What the hell?! I'm not sure if it's racism or bad storytelling but I had just assumed she was half of the legacy of twins. It does state though that Ilene and Ling Chen ARE third generation MONARCH so maaaaybe they're the daughters of San Lin and Houston Brooks. But alas, the wiki says those two only had a son named Aaron and the age wouldn't match up. Yet there's still the naming connection. San Lin and Ling Chen. Just like Reg Slivko and Rick Stanton. Private R.S. and Doctor R.S.. Lin and Ling. Coincidence? Perhaps, but there is truth in a name.
So let's throw out a little bit of the behind-the-scenes narrative and fill it in to go just a slightly different direction. What if R.S., Brooks and San Ling Chen all met on Skull Island? Slivko was still in the army so he serves out his tour and Brooks/Lin go off to work for the larger MONARCH. R.S. gets out of the army and decides to do something more with his life. Goes and gets his degree, working at SETI as an intern, slowly building up the knowledge needed to be of legitimate use to a monster hunting organization (Looking for life in space ain't that different from listening for it down here). Eventually he and Brooksie meet up again and they use their prior connections to get R.S. into MONARCH. The rest is cinema history.
This brings into play why Ricko knows and loves the Hollow Earth theory so much. Seen it, been there and done it. Hell, it's the whole reason he got here in the first place and he goes drinking with the man who came up with the idea. His kidding with Ilene Chen? Well he knows her sister and likes to rib the other twin about how she missed out on the Skull Island expedition. Even the man's verbage makes him sound like he's from the 70's, man. Like, you know what I mean, dude?
"Shut up, Rick."
I don't know for sure. When I first had this idea, it seemed like the people making it had thought of it too. So I was a little disappointed to see it wasn't so. Yet... still the idea persisted in me so hard that you're seeing it here now. True or not, planned or forced, the pieces are there for something more. Here's hoping better people can pick up the strings and finish tying this knot.

The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms
Hey Warner Bros and Legendary....considering Warner Bros owns the rights to this creature from what it looks like.......can we have this guy be in the Monsterverse?
I mean please if that's okay? I mean look at him.
I decided to go to Google Images to get this image because I liked it. A nice close up I wanna add.
Basically a few minutes ago I just watched the classic film The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms. A film that came a year before the original Godzilla. Especially what could of been a very possible inspiration for Godzilla himself.
I was putting away pizza and checking my Tumblr activity before this. Especially checking Google Images on those pictures of the Beast himself. But I'll say damn there was a lot of warning screens in different languages after the movie ended.
I'm sorry for rambling I'll talk about the movie now.
I'll say in a nutshell I liked the movie. But I feel compared to films like the original King Kong and the original Godzilla. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot going for the movie. Sorry if I sound very ignorant in this post too. Unless my mindset changes.
Basically this isn't a review and I'm gonna be tagging the Monsterverse in this of how we could put this creature in the Monsterverse if Legendary ever does that.
Even though I've seen films like both versions of the original Godzilla and The Creature From The Black Lagoon which both are from this era. I felt like I was truly experiencing one of those films the video game War Of The Monsters was some what doing a parody or something of. Or yeah the being set around that time.
Again I'll just get to the bottom of it. The best part of the film is the Rhedosaurus itself the Beast. It's a pleasure to look at and the destruction it makes. Especially everything about the film looks nice including from the time it came from.
But I feel the characters were lacking and not many seemed to stand out. Unless I'm being stupid but that's how I felt. Especially I'm feeling like how James Rolfe felt in his short review about this movie.
Because I feel that was the focus of the movie. To show off the Beast. It's basically a 50's monster movie with science fiction involved. It's enjoyable and it is overall a classic. I'm worried when I watch some of these much older films I could be taking them for granted. Even though I'm young I mostly grew up with the 60's to 70's Godzilla stuff I recall and more Godzilla movies as I saw overtime.
But still I liked it.
Now let's talk about the Monsterverse. Considering what I watched. If the Beast was ever introduced into the Monsterverse. Can the remake/reboot be some sort of horror/thriller feel or whatever. Basically a serious monster film. Something like Godzilla 2014 but the Beast is the only Titan in the movie and he's causing chaos.
You would definitely have to beef him up. He be bigger than Rodan but not bigger than Godzilla or what size Kong might be in Godzilla Vs Kong. Probably the same size as the female Muto in Godzilla 2014.
Or maybe it could be a similar size to Kong in Kong Skull Island or the size from the original movie. It depends on what the story would do.
It probably be a more predator type species. While not an apex predator like Godzilla is in the Monsterverse. But it's something you don't wanna mess with.
Especially my mind thought the design reminded me of a Komodo Dragon was basically on to something. In the film when it bleeds it causes people to get sick if anyone comes into contact with it. Watching the movie it wasn't confirmed if anyone died from coming into contact with the blood. But I was reminded again the Komodo Dragon part where it bites you, bacteria gets in you, you try to escape, but the bacteria is slowly killing you. While the Komodo Dragon will come for kill when you fallen ill. Some nature shit I've learned long ago.
I mean if we ever get a Monsterverse version of the Beast. Again I feel a more horror and thriller based take might benefit the monster. In honor of the original film. Making it this mostly serious monster flick. But it still be PG-13. Maybe make the Beast about 100 feet tall and over time it can beef up if you wanna do a Destroy All Monsters movie. Or have a big crossover movie with other Titans. Unless this one dies and another shows up.
I'm just rambling those are my ideas. Seriously the Rhedosaurus is a cool monster and I would like it featured in the Monsterverse as a Titan. Including again it might be easier to have this monster because it would be more easier to obtain than some of the Toho Kaiju. Including I feel it would make the Monsterverse's cast of monsters diverse. Because I talked about it seems weird Kong being the only American based Kaiju while others like Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, and Ghidorah are from Japan. Yes Legendary has their own original Titans which is great. But I'm just giving out ideas if we don't get more Toho Kaiju for a while.
Especially while I'm not a Gamera fan I feel like we may not get him in the Monsterverse. It depends on how crazy Legendary can be.
That's all my thoughts on the movie and the Monsterverse idea for this creature.
Let me be honest. I seriously feel weird when people say Godzilla 1998 could of easily been a remake of The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms. Because I feel that would discredit the Beast and the two films are radically different.

Ok, ignoring what I said last in my previous post (though the flight thing is real), I'm really wondering something right now....
A R.O.B (Random Omnipotent Being), gets MV!Goji's family and allies to gain transparent forms and sends them to the 3 universes MV!Goji was transported to, have them react to what I described in Scenarios A, B, & C; how would they react to their Godzilla getting not one, not two, but three ass-beatings from his alternate counterparts?
Here's my little interpretation in how they would see the alternate Gojis:
Scenario A:
Mothra: Hang on, why does that creature look so small?
Monster X: He kinda looks adora-
*Filitus fires his hyper-concentrated beam at MV!Goji.*
Monster X: And I take it back, beat that little shit Goji!
*Later, when MV!Goji has Filitus on the ropes.*
Monster X: Yeah! Don't feel so high and mighty now, eh?
Mothra: I hope he doesn't kill Filitus, he looks a little scared....
Shin: Godzilla knows what he's doing, he won't kill him.....I hope.
Junior: Yay! Daddy beats green monster!
Rodan: Yeah! Who would care about a brat like Filitus?
*Godzilla Earth appears*
Everyone: ..................
Rodan: ........I stand corrected.
*Earth Goji gives MV!Goji a brutal ass-whooping*
Mothra: Oh dear! I hope he's ok!
Monster X: He'll make it out of this! Goji always has...
*Everyone else just watches in sympathy & metaphorical pain as MV!Goji is beaten within an inch of his life*
*They become scared when Earth Goji charges up his Atomic Breath & holds their Godzilla in place to vaporize his head, but he is teleported away before be can do so. They all sigh in relief.*
Scenario B:
*Everyone becomes shocked when the human warships fire on Godzilla.*
Monster X: WHAT ARE YOU BUNCH OF IDIOTS DOING?!
Mothra: Stop that!
Shin: He did nothing! Why are you still firing?!
Rodan: Hrrgh. If I'm to guess, the humans of this world aren't as friendly to Titans like ours are.
Junior: Stop shooting Daddy!
*They witness Godzilla's show of intelligence by deducing the tech level of the world he was now in.*
Monster X: Hmm, he's right on the mark that this is the 1990s.
Mothra: He can be very analytical when he wants to.
Shin: Well, that is very accurate!
Junior: Smart Daddy!
Kong: Huh, well the more you know....
*They see Heisei Goji spying on their Godzilla*
Monster X: I see you, you little bastard!
Mothra:........
Shin: He seems angry at our Godzilla, what did he do?
Rodan: If I'm to guess, he doesn't like our King's presence in his world, and wants to take our Goji out.
Junior: Fake Daddy!
*They see MV!Goji's scared breakdown*
Monster X:Goji.....
Mothra:.....Godzilla.....
Shin: Oh, I wish I can comfort him, but I'm transparent.....
Junior:......daddy....
*They bear witness to Heisei!Goji's rampage across Tokyo.*
Monster X: Damn, so he's a destroyer in this dimension......monster......
Mothra: *Sigh* I believe he's one of the more-violent and destructive of versions of our Goji....
Shin.....(Remembers the time he briefly went on a rampage in modern Tokyo)
Junior: I don't like him!
Rodan: At least the humans don't suffer....
Kong: You're not helping.....
*Everyone sees when MV!Goji rises out of Tokyo Bay & roars a challenge to Heisei!Goji, with the latter's eerily familiar movement of slowly turning around and tail whipping the ground as an acceptance.*
Monster X: Kick that guy's ass Godzilla!
Mothra: I hope you'll be alright...
Shin: Give him the good fight!
Junior: Go Daddy!
Kong:......Well, this is ironic.
*Everyone watches the battle between the two Gojis: grappling, pushing, clawing, and many uses of Atomic Breath on each other. Their Goji even tried to perform the Kiss of Death on his counterpart-but the latter spamming his atomic breath many times prevented him from doing so. They even entered a beam-lock, witn both Gojis putting as much power into their beam as possible.*
Monster X: Get him! Get him! GET HIM!
Mothra: *Holding her breath*
Shin: C'mon, you can do it Godzilla! I believe in you!
Junior: GO DADDY!
Rodan: Kick his ass!
Kong:....You can do it buddy, I know you can!
*MV!Goji concentrates his beam, and it begins overpowering Heisei's.*
Monster X: C'mon, just a little more!
Mothra: *Staring intensely*
Shin: Yes!
Junior: Yay!
Rodan: Oh yeah!
Kong: *In a similar state to Mothra.*
*However, Heisei noticed this, and started to power up his own beam-until it turned bright crimson red.*
Monster X: OH COME ON!
Mothra:....no....
Shin: Oh dear....
Junior: Oh no!
Rodan: Shit!
Kong:.....damnit.
*Heisei's atomic breath overpowers MV!Goji's beam, causing him to be forced back-bellowing in pain in the process.*
*Everyone looks in sympathy at MonsterVerse Goji, and glare angrily at Heisei Goji.*
Monster X:....Bastard....
Mothra:...*Glares*
Shin: *Looks disapprovingly at Heisei*
Junior: Don't hurt daddy!
Rodan:....S.O.B.
Kong: Screw you!
*Despite this, they soon afterwards enter a second beam-lock, this time though-MV!Goji starts to walk forward...while still firing his atomic breath.*
*Everyone is shocked by this*
Monster X:I didn't know he could do that!
Mothra:....neither did I....
Shin: Well this is surprising....
Rodan:Oh, that's a sign he's starting to get serious!
Kong: Let's see what happens next.
(Heisei, not impressed, does the same thing-both Gojis walk towards each other until the energy in between their beams can't take it anymore and explodes out.)
*Everyone is briefly blinded, but quickly see again.*
(Heisei Goji is briefly dazed, but shakes it off and soon has a deadly look on his face. He then does something that shocks the group: he puts his hands on the ground and starts walking on all fours![with his dorsal plates constantly flashing too])
Monster X:H-he can do that too?!
Mothra: Oh dear, this isn't good.
Shin:.....oh.
Junior: Uh oh!
Rodan:.....ah shit.
Kong: *remembers when Godzilla himself did that in their fight in Hong Kong, which brings a bad omen for Goji here.*
*MonsterVerse Goji hid behind some intact buildings as he slowly gets behind Heisei...then he strikes! Tackling his counterpart into the side of a building and beating/clawing him, he initially has the upper hand-that is until Heisei simply kicks him in the stomach & fires his beam at the ground to create a smokescreen. MV!Goji clears the smoke but Heisei was gone, but the family then spot him-climbing a building and looking like he was readying for something. That something proved to be lunging at his larger counterpart with a speed and ferocity like never before! He fired his Red Spiral Ray without a care in the world, knocking his counterpart on his back and leaving him dangerously vulnerable; and Heisei takes advantage of that to stomp, punch, and slash at MV!Goji's chest with unrivaled rage, to the point the family was begging him to stop. Heisei then stomped his foot onto MV!Goji's chest-and gave him a deadly death glare-before he roared in his face-and MV!Goji defiantly responded with his own roar. After a brief pause, Heisei clawed his counterpart in the face and began to force his mouth open.*
(Everyone saw what was coming and began to panic.)
Monster X: Wait, wait, WAIT-!
Mothra:NO!
Shin: STOP!
Junior: NO!!!
Rodan: Shit, shit, SHIT!
Kong: DON'T!
*Before Heisei could fire his Red Spiral Ray down MV!Goji's throat, he is teleported away-and everyone breaths sighs of relief.*
Monster X:....well that was terrifying....
Mothra: I'm just glad he's safe....
(Onto the third and final universe....the R.O.B decides to skip to the battle)
*Everyone becomes absolutely baffled by how impossibly nimble & agile FW!Goji is, to the point one can say he was pointing a massive kaiju sized middle-finger at the laws of physics as he weaved through the attacks of their Godzilla & beat him to the ground with summersault kicks ans the like.*
I'll stop it here, and I know the description of the Heiseiverse scenario is unrealistic, but at least you now get the idea of how Heisei!Goji would kill MV!Goji in a more detailed description. Also; if you like, you can make your own reactions of the Abraxasverse crew to my 3 scenarios, I want to see what those are like & feel free to add on to what I already made if you wish!
I... don't think I can have my own take on the AbraxasVerse Titans' reaction to all this, sorry to say. And not for lack of trying, this isn't just me pushing it aside for later or saying "oh it's not up to me" like with Genocide/Coexistence, I mean you've pretty much got all the reactions covered just fine without any input from me - you can literally make a fic out of this.
The only thing I can think of is the Titans just losing all patience and demanding R.O.B. show themselves, take them and their Goji back home and eff right off before they decide to do something about it, because for all they know R.O.B. is messing up the balance with all this dimension-hopping monster fighting. Also, I'm fairly certain Goji would be able to move while breathing atomic fire without much problem, if he can walk and breathe normally at the same time...
And now I'm convinced that this R.O.B. thing just wants an excuse to see MV!Goji's ass get kicked or even killed by his other counterparts for whatever reason. Maybe it's one of those fans who gets all uppity and angry when a new incarnation is too different for their liking.

Welp, locking horns with someone who insists that Monarch had the means to kill all those sleeping Titans, and there's some Innate Narrative Interest(C) in said option being on the table for humanity. As a fan who'd just as soon we balding wank-apes ate some humble pie, I'm not so sold. Thoughts (besides 'why bug me with this')?
Ooh, time for me to go on a tangent that’s been festering at the back of my head for a while now!
On a related note, an issue I have with KOTM; Mark acknowledges that picking a fight with Godzilla is a stupid idea, but at the same time takes any and every chance to talk about how much he hates Godzilla and the Titans. At the Castle Bravo briefing early on he gets on his “M’family! Use big brains! Kill big monsters!” high horse, like he assumes Monarch has the means to do so. And yet nobody counters him. Nobody confirms or denies they have the technology or firepower necessary to kill a Titan. Not even Chen stands up and says “We don’t have Titankillers you fuckwit”. The closest thing we get is a shot to Graham’s face while Mark’s in full anti-Titan flow and she just sighs like she’s thinking “for fuck’s sake Russell”
Castle Bravo has maser cannons but they’re not used. In fact, every time we see G-Team engaging in any combat they’re using conventional human weapons - assault rifles, missiles, turrets. Maybe those maser cannons we saw are the first of their kind in the Monsterverse and they’re not readily available like anything that spits out 5.56 ammo.
That being said, Kong was visibly harmed by conventional human weapons during the events of Skull Island. He’s shown nursing cuts from helicopter blades and was damaged by napalm. However, not only does he lack natural armor like Godzilla, Kong was the Titan equivalent of a teenager at that time. He’s easily as big as Godzilla in that GvK footage we saw, so maybe age has toughened him up.
But what about kill switches? Emma “That Bitch” Russell was obviously concerned when Mancini made to activate the kill switch when containment crewmen started opening fire on baby Mothra. Was she worried it would actually hurt or even possibly kill baby Mothra? The first time we saw a kill switch used on a Titan was back in 2014 on Hokmuto, but that didn’t hurt him at all. Was that due to his age, having taken the time to soak up radiation, or his own natural armor? We should also consider the fact that Emma was in on Jonah’s party crashing, so maybe her concern was just a ploy. Additionally, those weapons the containment crew were using look to be projectile versions of cattle prods, so not enough to do any real damage.
So, unless one of us hits up Dougherty on whether Monarch has, to use a Halo joke, God’s Own Anti-Sonofabitch Machine capable of very definitely certainly killing a Titan, my vote is in the “probably not lethal means” camp.
But we know who does have or knows someone with plans/blueprints to God’s Own Anti-Sonofabitch Machine, don’t we?
Fucking Stenz. We saw that aside glance during the senate hearing. That look of “no, these yahoos want to worship the giant monsters like cavemen, they’re not going to kill them”. He says “we” had been working on a prototype oxygen destroyer, but never specifies who. Honestly, it could be any scientist working with the US military to make one, unless Serizawa’s boy Ren was involved and that becomes a plot-point in GvK (another call-back to Daisuke Serizawa!). But that’s just conjecture.
As for the Narrative Interest in humanity having God’s Own Anti-Sonofabitch machine... let’s consider the balance Serizawa was so invested in. In all three Monsterverse films thus far released, good Titans like Godzilla and Kong triumph because in some form or other humans helped out. Ford blowing up the Muto nest and incurring the wrath of Momma Muto, Conrad and company in Skull Island, Serizawa’s heroic sacrifice and the Russell family fixing the ORCA. What’s more, the KOTM credits show just how invaluable the Titans are to the planet; they’re fixing our environmental fuckups, restoring endangered species and giving us a new source of renewable energy, etc.
However, just as people in real life will bemoan climate change as a hoax, there is bound to be people in the Monsterverse who are afraid of change and what they perceive as monsters taking over the world. In that case, we can count on Monarch to deal with the stupid Titanicidal humans and give our heroic Titans a helping hand. I will admit that I would love to see Titanicidal wank-apes complaining about the Titans and Monarch doing the Spongebob thing showing all the good they’ve been doing.
And if humanity does deem it necessary to have a Titankiller, they best learn from the oxygen destroyer’s side effects. Because we’re already looking at the possibility of a Monsterverse Destoroyah. Then again... that just might be the humble pie such humans need, for in their desperation to kill two monsters, they only indirectly created something even worse.
