Crafting updates will probably be slow for the next week or so; I have family coming to town and I'm taking a few days off work to spend time with them. I am so excited but also by family I mean the kidlet I used to babysit? so like. I haven't seen him since 2020 and he hasn't seen me since I was a lot more physically capable* than I am now and I have no idea how this will go. I've kinda been stress cleaning instead of crafting If y'all have any asks, crafting related or otherwise, you want to send me I would honestly love the distraction *in 2019 I only saw him once a month or so, so even though my health was deteriorating pretty rapidly I could kinda put myself in negative spoons to spend a day with him and then recover for like a week. Now that really isn't an option. I can't borrow spoons from future days anymore. I mean, my baseline health is significantly better than it was in 2019 because I have medication to help me now, but I am also severely anemic at the moment on top of the POTS and severe allergies and all my other health issues so my ability to do things like "walk" and "be upright for extended periods of time" is very limited. Compression socks help but also compression socks left bruises

#the person behind the yarn #I am comfortable enforcing my physical boundaries #I have to be. but also.#he's a kid! last time I saw him he was in kindergarten!#I mean he and I zoom call at least once or twice a month #but I haven't seen him in person in yeaaaars #and I haven't...had to explain what I can't do anymore #to someone who was there when I could do it #but who wasn't there for me figuring out what I can't do #also to be clear his mom is also coming. he is not flying cross country by himself #but while I like and respect his mom she and I have not spent much time together #idk :/ I am excited to see him but also kinda stressed about it #I know I will chill out once he gets here but ahhhhhhhhhhh I cannot craft

get work done while at home on break (impossible challenge)

#literally CANNOT focus or be productive and the instant i do something comes up #since this happens literally every time i think i should just accept that i can't get work done at home and shouldn't try anymore #but alas i have less than 2 months to finish my thesis that i've had to completely revamp and for which i have (as of today) written two (2 #sentences #so i have no choice but to grind this week!#literally HOW did i manage to pass my first year of Zoom University living at home #p #society if if i actually knew what i was doing and was able to pick a thesis topic i actually knew i cared about instead of scrambling.....#i do actually enjoy research and writing but i totally dropped the ball and now this opportunity to explore in depth something i really car #about has turned into a super overwhelming and stressful behemoth that i just want to be done with at a level of quality that's passable to #my advisors et al #:(#whatever it's fine lmao #i just gotta hit a Writing Groove™ but it seems like i only reach that state after an intense session of panic LMAO

Decided to button map the pony town controls to my pswhatever-the-fuck controller. It's going average.

#she has accepted that we're leaving town at year's end but is Not Happy about it #alas despite honing my arguments over many sleepless nights about my presence here being useless... my delivery was a mess #'you're not going to just be 45min away anymore :(' to you. if I ever had to get to you I'd need 3 buses and to get in a stranger's car #i can't have a good life in a city where a car is a requirement. I have thrown ten years down the drain trying.#she's still not happy with the idea of once a week zoom calls and once a year fly-downs but. she knows I'm leaving.#i think she knows it'll be better for me.#that makes it feel possible and not like i'm just 15 again trying to sneak out of a house I can't walk to anything from anyway #i don't want to hurt her or leave her behind... but dying early of a heart attack or plain misery would be leaving her early too.
