Tumblr media
Elias and Crisostomo having family time with their children Amorccia and Indang under the afternoon sun, circa 1889.
AU CONTEXT
- after Crisostomo had been excommunicated and had been sent a message that he should forget Maria Clara, he takes the offer to live with Elias in a secluded village near Ilog Pasig.
- Elias had forgotten to tell his husband señor about something important, he had adopted two girls two years ago from that village.
- Although surprised, Crisostomo had quickly learned and accepted the girls, unintentionally turning them into a family
- Crisostomo moved his project of building a school to this village, wherein he worked there as the head teacher
- Elias works as a fisherman, able to haul a profit and food on the table. He sometimes takes Crisostomo and his daughters on boat rides throughout Ilog Pasig (y'know, like a rural family outing)
- ang daming nagchichismis sa kanila dahil masyado silang ✨sinaunang bading✨ behavior, charot 🤭

Magiting si Magiting
by Student No. 2015-46167
Although humans cannot solely be good angels on earth, each person has a moral responsibility to himself and to those around him. When everything becomes dark, a light comes to brighten the path. The main character of the story is Magiting who wants nothing but peace and goodness to reign over their town. However, he is stopped by Padre Berda who brainwashed Ibarra and all of San Diego.
Magiting lives as he is—family-oriented, persevering and wise. He lives a simple life by making sure he does his job well as a fisherman to provide for his family at the same time, having meaningful conversations with the people in town. Magiting always had the heart for his fellow neighbors; however, Padre Berda, becomes jealous of him as Magiting is adored by most of the people. Throughout Magiting’s life, he meets several influential people such as Ibarra whom he shares his views with. Considering that Magiting is not able to speak properly, he and Ibarra are able to understand each other clearly since they are both well-versed in writing.
Padre Berda brainwashes Ibarra and the people of San Diego, accusing Magiting of theft, foolishness and desire of Ibarra’s money. Padre Berda frames up Magiting in several situations, trying so hard to convince everyone. The first event happened in the market where Magiting was set-up. Padre Berda hired someone to pretend that her purse was stolen by Magiting. The second and last event where Ibarra was convinced of Magiting’s dishonesty was when he was accused of rape. Padre Berda hired Clarita who agreed because of the money in exchange and her disgust towards Ibarra and those acquainted with him. Clarita was tasked by Padre Berda to seduce Magiting in a room. Magiting was caught and figured that he has been set up. As such, he was taken to prison.
After the incident, Magiting in prison was visited by Celia, together with her older foster sister. Celia asked around why he was nowhere to be seen until finally a vendor from a nearby store told her what happened. Celia and Maia arrived at the prison and asked for Magiting. Celia believed he was good and innocent. Celia introduced Magiting to Maia who is currently searching for her father. Magiting was shocked to see a familiar face in the picture Maia provided. He saw that the note was signed at the back by Rico Berda which was Padre Berda’s real name. Magiting told Maia that he knew the person in the picture and told her to go to the church in San Diego. Padre Berda and Maia and met. He apologized for what he had done to Maia’s mother and hugged her daughter tight. Then, he asked how Maia found him. Maia explained that it was through Magiting. Padre Berda asked the police officers to release Magiting. Magiting and Padre Berda made a scene in the prison almost killing each other to death.  Ibarra came and ordered the police officers to arrest Padre Berda but Magiting requested to let Padre Berda and Maia live on their own. Magiting and Padre Berda fixed what was broken between them. Padre Berda had a change of heart through Magiting. Magiting and Padre Berda had a long conversation trying to settle their differences and their vision for San Diego.
After that very eventful day, Ibarra hosted a feast for the people of San Diego. Everyone was present to join the celebration, including Padre Berda, Magiting, Juancho, Juanita, Maia, Cecilia, other fishermen and vendors, police officers and other priests. It was to celebrate new beginnings for their town and new found friendships. It was an important moment to remember the value of having a good heart and still choosing forgiveness amidst all evil. In the end, peace and goodness will reign. As Magiting said, “Lahat tayo at may mga pagkakamali sa ating buhay.Nasa atin na iyon kung gusto nating itama an gating mga mali alang-ala sa mga mahal natin sa buhay.
