WRITING WHILE SOBBING

So this goober is a black wolf and has been with the Octonauts since being saved from a shipwreck and recruited to their team :3

(He hasn’t got a name just yet so bare with me..)

He’s a huge fan of sea creatures and specifically analysing them, he and shellington often go on expeditions together and he has a habit of making sure Shellington doesn’t get into any trouble on the way / when exploring. 

He has a healthy relationship with practically all the Octonauts and adored making little gifts for everyone, usually bringing back fun stuff from expeditions, keeping an eye out to make sure everyone is safe and happy, and keeping note of little preferences on all of them.

His main hobbies include writing, crafting, collecting stuff, and painting!

He’s great at keeping watch too and from his previous day aboard a ship, he always used to look out for any danger and so he passed it on to his current lifestyle. It means he is usually the first to tell when something is going wrong, can get past the basic mask of someone panicking and realise they need help, find creatures, and spot something strange. 

It does turn rotten as he often is too alert in most situations and struggles to relax, often finding danger even when there’s nothing to worry about, but the crew often helps him ease off by inviting him to chill activities like baking and playing!

He’s totally neurodivergent, like pretty much all of the team.

He’s very smart when it comes to behavioural analysis and even when nobody says anything can detect change and inner feelings.

Yet all strengths come with flaws, and he is certainly not lacking in them.

He has a tendency to forget basic things, often overlooking mundane habits or information in favour of that which others usually can’t see (say, knowing everyone’s favourite subject in school and yet forgetting to eat, knowing how to get home from practically anywhere and yet doesn’t seem to know how to control the octopod at all).

Canonically aroace btw, although anything I say is canon because he is my goober.

Bdizibckbskzkbxkdbs I don’t know how to lay out the rest of the information so I’ll try simpifty it:

RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE CREW:

Barnacles: they’re quite close and good buddies, and captain gets alot of free therapy lessons and random gifts from time to time. They usually hang out by spending some quality time together and yet doing their own thing.

Kwasii: he and Kwas’ aren’t all that close but are still friends, they bonded primarily over their pirate knowledge despite my goober not being a pirate, merely working on a ship. They sometimes race or do competitive games together but otherwise barely interact.

Shellington: Best buds, inseparable. Both autistic little beasts who yap about any creature they find, a great duo as both document all they see and my goober makes sure they are both somewhat safe all the while. Commonly join eachother on missions and use eachothers research to better understand all the creatures out there.

Peso: Also good buddies, yet interact strictly when necessary. My goober knows some medical skills and has practiced being focused and so whenever Peso may get a bit spooked or his nerves all over the place - my guy keeps a level head and can perform even dangerous procedures with ease.

Inkling: Usually see each other in the library or when the octoalert is pressed, the professor often tries to persuade the silly to chillax for a second and makes him spend time together, to which both actually rather enjoy simply talking and chatting away - often times the silly guy falls asleep at the library and Inkling doesn’t mind at all.

Dashi: Silly buddies, occasionally asks to see some photos from Dash and she happily shares them, he sometimes draws creatures he sees and gives her the silly paintings as gifts (usually discreetly) and she is incredibly thankful for them.

Tweak: Good pals. My goober tries to sometimes help out but other than keeping track of what’s going on barely understands whatever the heck he is supposed to do, and yet volunteers to test out new gadgets of hers or gives ideas. 

Vegimals: helps protect them occasionally and also is the second person who can understand them.

Mskdbkdbbd I’ll just keep those main crew details there okey dokey.,.

He can swim quite well and yet is awful at keeping balance on the surface weirdly enough (some silly lore I’ll keep to myself heheh), but can stand and walk on the octopod just fine!

Rarely asks for help, and ofcourse usually everything is under control but definitely at times is much more humble than he should allow himself to be when it comes to safety.

Can yap about silly facts about all creatures and often without any relation to what’s going on, mind commonly elsewhere and yet still manages to handle whatever task is at hand.

He is a great listener but prefers to either do another thing while listening or desperately waiting for his turn to talk.

He often stims by wagging his tail or making silly noises (I.e. quiet barks/growls or humming).

He adores jellyfish and consistently tries to catch them to keep them as a pet (he fails and has been stung many times, unsurprisingly).

Can catch other creatures with ease though! 

Has a fear of tentacles, being rather uncomfortable if touched by them and utterly terrified if held with them - Inkling as understood this way quicker than most and as a little secret between him and the goober, haven’t shared it with anyone.

Adores copying the stance or language of Barnacles, often looking away in a funny manner if questioned on it. Has been caught multiple times by the captain himself but neither seem to mind.

Likes to randomly chase the crew in a jokingly manner yet never actually goes through with the catch and steps a few steps before actually catching them.

He is a mega super duper goober and I daydream of scenarios in which he is in and he is always such a silly lovely skrunkly guy omgomgomgomgomgg

Hello, could I please have some therian tips for a striped hyena kin? Apologies if you need more detail than that for the request, as I've not seen one of these done before

Okie! What I was planning to do for tips was just some stuff like decor, clothes, activities and gear n stuff so I hope you can find something useful that might help you connect with your theriotype :3

Decor:

Hyenas live in quite a few habitats but mainly savannas, grasslands, woodlands, forest edges, etc. Depending on what you may feel connected to I would get some decor related to that, such as; you could just get some different plants that matched your habitat, and this one might not be available cuz heating can be expensive but keeping your house nice and warm :3 also making little forts can be super fun! Like a den, in the back of my closet I have some small lights and a bunch of blankets and I gotta crawl over stuff to get in there and it feels nice and private and cozy. Or even if you could get like a heated blanket in there and nuzzel on top of it, that might be rrly fun!

Clothes/Gear:

Wearing striped clothes in black/brown and just kinda earthy tones might be nice, I've also found quite a few hyena ear handbands. I haven't found too many hyena tails, but you could always make your own! Fursuit tails can get a little pricy,, so yarn tails could be a cheaper option.

Activities:

Do some quadrobics, I know that's a simple one but if your able to they can be super fun. I would also suggest practicing some vocals, maybe watch videos on them or a documentary and try and mimic there sounds. Hyenas are very smart, maybe challenge yourself with some puzzles or riddles!

Food:

Definitely meat(if you not vegan/vegetarian), but definitely don't make that your whole diet. Okay well I know some people do but um.. in my option I think you need a bit of everything😭 lol. Hyenas do eat a lot of everything tho, like I've read they eat eggs so again(if your not vegan) those might be nice to have a bit more of.

I hope Dream keeps rping how the trauma of Pandora effected him, like he has a moment of vunrablitly with Punz who accidently triggers him and Can't Avoid being vauge about his experiences and has to be open than trying to leverage vauge details // Become angry bc he assumed everyone Knew bc all those months of torture can't have been for nothing. How he never what to eat another potato again and has an odd fixation on something to harken to his cell, clocks lava, placement of objects. How his heat cycles are probably super fucked and desynced from all that stress (Also side note I know C!Punz is Secondary Gender Non Conforming so I think a C!Drunz story line about an Omega getting the chance to explore more trad alpha behaviours would rrly help C! Dream learn a better relationship with the want to care vs the feeling of responsibility of being an admin. Just the stuff they've done so far with the Assumed Alpha Privilege C!Dream goes thru is rrly good but like. No One Wants To Talk About His Depth or Trauma Huh? Worse are the Omega Sexists who act like C!Dream is toxic for breaking Secondary Gender Roles in a way they don't approve of (Esp when they support c!Punz or C!Eret v then u can rrly tell they just Don't Like C!Dream and are willingly using toxic arguments to shut down C!Dream enjoyers which is Kinda Fucked Ngl...)

Holmes!! The sharpshooting Rodger with a littleee but of trust issues and I adore him . He is the kind of dad to have Pavlov's dogs himself to say "language" whenever anyone is swearing an probably owns a swear jar. But don't worry, he loves both his children equally. He may not be able to keep up with a few of the smarter Rodgers in terms of intellect but he can hold his own in a mission decently well and he's more streetsmart anyways (Holmes says in an attempt to comfort himself)

Big brother of the year award goes too... SOMEONE ELSE because it's certainly not Shrimpo "DONT KICK IN YOUR 8 YEAR OLD BABY SISTERS TEETH" Rodger . He pretends to not care and at times he really doesn't. It's giving Dipper pines meets bakugo (which I'm not sure if that's accurate because I have only seen like , 2 seasons of MHA) meets knuckles and with a sprinkle of abandonment issues . It took him a decently long time to warm up to his adoptive family but it was all worth it (sort of)

(when I tell you I really did try my best to come up with an Augmented Ability for him 😭 I hope this isn't too OP...)

Edit : nvm , Shrimpo uses 80% of his energy instead and that it effects a whole area of twisteds around him , like it effects any twisteds who hear it even if he direct it at them , and that it can be mixed , like a twisted brightney and Gigi can run away while the rest start CHASING him

The baby of the family!! The one who Shrimpo taught how to swear!! Toodles!! She occasionally gets an existential crisis because of her ability but it's finee. She warmed up the fastest to people, this social little scumbag is the sole reason why her brother is NOT fully social inept

Edit: SO sorry that I'm changing my mind this much but I'd like to add like , she can just duplicate only parts of herself for way less energy, like she can duplicate just an arm as a emergency weapon for 7% energy and only her head to use as a projectile weapon for 9% energy ectect and ofc they will still hurt but yes she can duplicate multiple

(Another idea of an Augmented Ability I have to her is basically beginners luck in a larger scale , she can boost a random 'stat' of her fellow toons in a certain radius by 20% and it reduces her own energy by 20% but I went for this one instead but if you think the duplicate thing is too overpowered, feel free to use this :))

An idea I have for their background:

If it matches the lore , I'd say they joined an operation that wasnt gardenview, a different operation that was far more weaker and far away from said Gardenview , Holmes and a couple of others were the sole survivors of the weaker operation after they got overwhelmed by a large Wave of twisteds . Shrimpo and Toodles were the few survivors of their own operation being taken over by Twisteds . After Holmes wandered for about 3 months he met Shrimpo and Toodles and the journey begins there . They reach Gardenview in about, I'd say two - three and a half years

I have a mini comic I'm in the middle of drawing of how Shrimpo and Toots would work together in an actual mission and I'll reblog said comic on this post after I finish it and hope and pray you actually see it 😢

Fun facts about them (I'll probably add more when it's not , midnight)

In terms of fighting, I'd say Shrimpo is definitely melee and short ranged, if I decide to give him weapons it will definitely be very Vi from arcane coded

Rodger is defo long ranged sharp shooter, a sniper sort of guy , if he had to fight up close he could hold his own but he would mostly rely on his robot arm

Toodles is more agile think, very sonic or Spiderman esk , jumping around and dodging/ luring the twisteds

Rodger also has phantom pain sometimes and doesn't really know what it is (yet) so sometimes his arms just starts hurting a lot and he's like "oh, I guess that happens now" and doesn't tell anyone

Rodger got lost his arm during the incident where his old operation got destroyed

Toodles and Shrimpo have matching bite marks from eachother, it's how they differentiate eachother from a crowd

They are very "Dad said I can come!!" "YOU ARE NOT COMING ON MY DATE-" coded

honestly, I can Shrimpo tagging along with toodles and her new friends in Gardenview until he finds his own group

Rodger used to spend a lot his time researching ichor obsessively because he lost a lot of loved ones during the fall of his old operation (like a lot of the Rodgers and probably also A1 Rodger) but slowed down a LOT a while after he took in Shrimpo and Toodles

Rodger didnt know how to take care of two kids at first , it wasnt until Shrimpo almost died because of his own recklessness that he decided "hey I already lost a lot of people, I need to take care of the ones I have" and stepped up , he isn't perfect but he tries

I'd like to think Rodger gets a lot of "you took in...a SHRIMPO????" From the group of people he hangs out with

Shrimpo is a decent mechanic, like not enough that he can build a robot from scratch metal but enough that he can build a working metal arm for Holmes out of broken twisted robot parts

Also their 'last name' is Rodger , like Toodles Rodger and Shrimpo Rodger , but he only uses when they are in REAL trouble like "SHRIMPO RODGER GO TO YOUR ROOM"

Also if it matches the lore , I also like to think , to save up energy and ichor , the people running Gardenview saw them come in , clinging onto eachother and went "huh... they seem close" and put Toodles and Shrimpo in the same room with a bunkbed to preserve energy , screaming matches insue

(and if you're reading this like :why are you so not normal ab them?? Well it's because I have a little brother who acts a lot like how I think toodles will act but a lot more annoying and I think I'm just projecting ngl)

Hi darling! I’ll do my best to answer your questions.

1) This really depends. Like with fanfiction, I’m pretty sure my characters deviate quite a lot from the persons I write about but I try to keep certain mannerisms. For keeping the characteristics that I have given my characters, I try to stay inside that but in the end, humans don’t make sense half the time so oocness is kinda human?? idk if this rant helped lmao

2) this also really depends. I love doing unnecessary research but some pieces don’t need that and are better written on just vibes alone. Everlong for a example is a good mix. It’s highly based on vibes but I also do research for the details like the clothing and the stuff they do and things they interact with. Back 2 U is mostly vibes and for Love Shot I did a decent amount of research on Hockey lmao

3) I honestly don’t remember. I think I always made up stories in my head since I was in what would be middle school probably about my crushes and stuff 😂 and one day I just started writing all of that down and then I went through various fandoms where I’ve mostly read fanfiction until I started writing for a bunch of them and now I’m here. Writing is just my creative outlet, I think if I wouldn’t write and create, I’d just burst.

4) I started publishing stuff when I was around 16 or 15 maybe? When I first went from original written stuff over to fanfiction. That’s when I started publishing. Back then I wrote in my native language. Then I fell out of love with writing for a while until I picked it up again for Kpop and started to write in English and published that pretty directly. I don’t think I had anything that pushed me to do it, I just wanted to do it, so I did it 😂 the comments of course make it worthwhile

I still don’t know why so many people follow me but my best tip is just to keep going. If you keep posting consistently, people will start recognizing you and you’ll get better and better because practice makes perfect. All my works I’ve ever published are still up, so you can see my journey on here 😂
