1. favorite fic you wrote this year They’re all my favorite 🥺🥺 but I guess there is a special place in my heart for rock!yoongs it meant so much to see people connect to it so deeply. It started out as a silly idea, a few years back there were tons of fics of BTS as inanimate objects for some reason lmao so I had wanted to write a crack story about Yoongi being a rock for so long, but then the story took on a life of its own once I started and it was one of my favorite experiences writing it 💜💜💜

I can't help but add my rambling thoughts to the discussion...😶‍🌫️

There's something about Serendipity and jikook. They've certainly made the song their own with all the 👉👈

And Jimin calling himself a calico cat 👀

But I am also given pause (paws, lol) around the dates associated with the music video. This is the thing that makes me feel confused about the connection to jikook and this song the most. There might be other blogs that have touched on the dates and the other symbolism in the Serendipity MV with other BTS MV's...so share if you've come across them (but I'll add more below to help...or confuse you more...I guess...🤦‍♀️😩).

But here's the thing that I wonder about with the dates: why the discrepancy between the posted date and why even is there a date at the beginning of the MV? Let alone JK's birth date?

To me, there's no need for this beginning part of the MV. There's no music, it's a representation of the earth and the sun...I don't even see the moon. What story is it trying to tell? If it's about how tiny we are on this huge (relatively) planet and how special it is when love finds us, then why is the date 9/1/17 necessary to this story?

Why is the date 9/1 if it wasn't even uploaded on that date? Why don't other BH MV's have a date associated with them besides the published date? The HYYH era had companion books printed with dates in them....but not in the MV's. 🤷‍♀️

But what is also with the SBS MTV logo in the corner? Was there a special preview I don't know about? Does that have to do with the date?

So for the topic of if Serendipity was written FOR or ABOUT jikook....

There's plenty of posts of people talking about RM's lyrics and how he writes about what he observes or life experiences. I'm pretty sure he said this in a vlive too...🤔 If someone has the screenshot, please share. I was searching, but to no avail. 😩

Because there were 5 people writing it, I doubt it was written ABOUT or FOR jikook....but what if it was written because of observations made about them? Not every writer would need to observe the members or whatever inspired the lyrics because discussions happen during the writing process to convey ideas and thoughts and bring coherency to the song. But we also don't know how much RM contributed to the song.

So now my mind is asking, "Why would the MV be made with references that kinda have meaning around JM and JK?"

(I've now spiraled into 😱🤯😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫) The sun and moon, blue and yellow, the universe clouds (JM's and JK's being purple and yellow), their eyes at the beginning of DNA and Serendipity, the finger with the drop of liquid on it, the dates....?🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

There's so many reasons behind why they are the way they are and we aren't privy to those facts and BH does like story continuity....😩

DNA was published 9/18/17 so that might be a reason for continuity in the universes/eyes and because they used the same graphics in the MV's, the fans made the connections with the sun and moon and blue and yellow and we don't know what BH absolutely KNOWS about what the fans get up to... but I'm not sure about BS&T and the fingers and how jikook turned THAT into the thing that connects them to Serendipity....👉👈

And we also don't know the particulars about their color themes....(now they both have shades of purple mics)

Were jikook doing the 👉👈 before the release of the MV? We have heard information that JM wouldn't let JK observe him recording the song.

The dates are in the MV or on the BH account. Jungkook's birthday is September 1st. Jikook 👉👈 and use "You are me, I am you". JK said JM told him to leave when he recorded the song. JM calls himself a calico cat and gave a cat lamp to JK. JK picked Serendipity as his favorite song at the end of LY:SY tour in Seoul. RM helped write the song

Connections/References to the song (coincidence or purposeful?):

Yellow and blue, yellow and purple, BS&T and DNA, JM calls himself a calico cat, calls JK his puppy prince and uses 🐾 with JK's name in some of his tweets (puppy isn't in the song lyrics, but are they puppy or kitty prints?), sun and moon

Bottom line is that we don't know what was going on or what was really meant by everything included in the video or the song. I agree with OP (Stormblessed95) it is obvious that some of the stuff associated with the MV and song came to have some sort of meaning to jikook and we've noticed it after everything was released. We can't say when jikook started identifying anything with them and the song conclusively because we don't have access to their lives 24/7. It should be enough for us that this is a clear romantic song and that jikook associate themselves with parts of the song. 💜

I'm looking at it again (its one of my favorites songs), and after seeing the reaction of a filmmaker (nonshipper, nonarmy yet). And I found a good amount of signals I didn't see the first dozens of times. Probably you already did an analysis of this. Please indulge me. Blue and Yellow is everywhere. I don't remember who said it was Jikook's colors, they were often paired with this colors. I'm sure there are like dozens of post and pictures about this. The eclipse. Sun and Moon anyone? please. I'm in tears. The sun and the moon find e/o and then Jimin hides in blankets. A beautiful reference of his hidden private personal life. As he hides in blankets of purity, happiness, he also disappears. He hides in the blankets and something(someone? the moon? jk?) takes him to the stars (a very, very, very interest reference to sex, orgasm, climax, a moment of passion that send you to the stars, might be a reference to love, as well). The cat. He's a calico cat. He's a male calico, when calicos are usually females. Is this another reference to nonbinarious people? dubious sexuality? And Jimin falls. He falls from the stars. And as he falls (in love?) his world start to shake. Love shakes his world. He feels like floating (orgasm can make you feel like floating, also love can make you feel like that). It makes it less blue (sad) and more clear, bright (white). And then the eclipse is gone, the sun and the moon separates, and he's sad, sad but in love still. This is an interesting theory. It is always cool to see how outsiders interpret things too when it comes to MVs or even just specific moments. It's a super interesting theory for sure, one im not sure I totally agree with, but I can see reasoning behind it all. I don't have much to add simply because it's a fairly complete theory as you've typed it. I don't have too much of an opinion on it. I think this would hold more weight depending upon exactly how much creative influence Jimin had with MV choices. We do know he personally relates himself to the calico cat a lot and often. I have typed up my own thoughts over Serendipity already as well and those are in my masterlist pinned on my page, you can check them out if you want. I personally don't think this song was *for sure* written ABOUT jikook, but they 100% made it their song and claimed it regardless.

I will say that im pretty sure the blue and yellow color association was from fans rather than the members themselves (which is now purple and yellow), but if I'm wrong, someone please correct me!
