it bothered me so much that so many roommate au frenrey works were so casual about benny boy showing up that the first scene i envisioned for the fic im writing is gordon being so scared of benrey that he's having a mental breakdown while sobbing on the ground. benrey is just kind of upset he cant toy with him anymore so he uses the practical solution of blowing some blue balls in his mouth (excellent sentence). he's kind of concerned but he just wants to 'play' in his fucked up definition of 'play'.

i don't do everything you like in my fics but im glad im not alone in the 'they should not be so casual about this' opinion.

imagine being stuck in a house with a guy who tried to kill you, who can phase through walls and control your emotions to manipulate you!!!!

i'll add that i love a lot of these fics regardless of the casual nature of the meeting / roommates shit.

I get it, hlvrai is a funny and unserious series! But if you’re not gonna do the funny improv part and lean into that, if ur gonna play everything somewhat straight, WHY would you be so casual about this? Don’t get me wrong I love when fics are funny and stupid and unserious one of my favorite fics had me giggling the whole way through but MAN.

I like when a fic has stronger emotional stakes and isnt just “oh bennyboys here now and hes soooo sorry :] its your favorite guy! Rejoice! Every issue has been fixed and now we have slice of life fluff” Like idk it takes more than that to get me invested.
