Song of the Day - April 23, 2017

Laboum - Hwi Hwi

[T] Laboum is a group I’ve kept up with since they debuted back in 2014 and I’ve been a bit disappointed with their more recent releases, but I'm happy to say that this song is what I’ve been waiting to hear from Laboum for a while. My holy trinity of Laboum songs are Pit-A-Pat, What About You and Aalow Aalow, but this song is actually starting to make me question if I need to bump one of those songs in favour of it. I love that this track has that old school vibe - which reminds me of Aalow Aalow - and the choreography is so much fun to watch. This music video has a lot more production value compared to some of their older songs and though that’s not everything, it’s really nice to see that they were able to do that with this. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I can definitely say this track exceeded my expectations and makes me look forward to their future releases. P.S. I think I can officially say Haein is my bias.

[S] I really see what T says about this having an old school vibe I was listening to this for some reason I was brought back to high school and all the memories of jamming to girl groups in the morning and during English class. XD (believe it or not I went through one heck of a girl group phase.)

That being said I have never actually heard of Laboum before but this is a great introduction to them. I really like their sound and they are cute without being over the top wanting to make me vomit unicorns cute also major points to them for being able to actually pronounce their English lines clearly and correctly. Now excuse me I am off to give the other songs that T mentioned above a listen as well.

[C] This is the typical length of a song and yet it felt a lot longer and I’m really confused as to why. I can’t say it as a bad thing though because I thought the song was really catchy and I got pretty into it. I’d seen Laboum’s name around a few times but I never really bothered checking anything out by them so this is the first thing I’m hearing something from them and I really like it. I just might have to go check out the rest of this album!

[M] I feel like I’ve heard of Laboum before but I have definitely not listened to them before this song. The beginning of this song kind of sounded like a commercial song, not sure why but the song is very light and summery and I love that especially since its been miserable raining and snowy here the past few days. The whistling in the song really helps keep it light and cheery, that paired with the bright white and red in the video. I actually really like how fun and upbeat this song is. I can see myself adding this to my iphone playlists soon. It is an unexpectedly amazing song.
