Wanna know something funny?
When I read the chapter's title the songs lyrics aligned perfectly with it I freaking JUMP!
And when I read the note and saw that IT WAS in FACT touchy feely fool by AJR!!!!
Do you have some kind of psychic powers or something??!!
Lmao that’s great 😭
AJR just hits different, so had to use it
And yes I totally have psychic powers, it was all aligned perfectly and planned 100% 😎
On a more serious note on that thought, I do not, but… The universe is filled with coincidences and some sure are beautiful
Thanks for the ask ^^
#answered asks#ajr hits different and I do not want to hear any slander about them#and there’s multiple of their songs who got branch it’s ridiculous#touchy feely fool#way less sad#karma#all of them are branch coded and I can’t be convinced otherwise

My Aro playlist (the perfect soundtrack for ASAW!)
A while ago I made an aro playlist that I keep adding songs on. It's on an account that I don't feel comfortable sharing but I thought I could tell y'all what songs are on it because aro songs are not easy to find. So here you go.
Note: this playlist is tailored to my personal music taste. It's mostly pop. I know there are more out there (Cavetown) but these are the songs I like to listen to. Besides, you might interpret these songs differently. They were clearly not written to be aromantic songs but they sound pretty aro to me ( but obviously you don't have to agree).
I tried to sort them into categories (at least roughly) so can find songs you relate to better.
I used an alien emoji to mark the songs containing internalized arophobia (in my opinion) if you want to avoid those.
Enjoy!
Being happy about being aro/not feeling romantic attraction:
Never been in love - Will Jay
Curse - Emily Burns
Zero feelings - Zoe Clark
Being somebody's crush but you can't reciprocate:
Sorry - Halsey
I wanna love you but I don't - Ben Platt
I won't - H.E.R.
Crush - Glades
FRIENDS - Marshmello, Anne-Marie
I don't know - Gabe Bondoc
Idle Worship - Paramore
I help you hate me - Sunrise Avenue
Dating someone but turns out dating isn't for you:
Bad liar - Imagine Dragons
Liked you better - Good problem, Boy in space
Turning out pt. ii - AJR
Psychofreak - Camila Cabello, Willow 👽
Someone else - ClockClock
I wasn't made to fall in love - Miko 👽
For when the Romance Repulsion hits:
Crush Culture - Conan Gray
I'm so tired... - Lauv, Troye Sivan
Never Fall in love - Jack Antonoff, MØ
Romance is boring - Los Campesinos!
Love is for losers - The Longshot
Don't fall in love - Danko Jones
This fall - The Duhks
Romantic - Hooverphonic
Being happily single:
Good thing - Zedd, Khelani
Soulmate - Lizzo
No - Meghan Trainor
It's not you it's me - Bea Miller
I don't wanna be in love (dance floor anthem) - Good Charlotte
I just wanna be single - Brika
Me, Myself and I - Blonde, Bryn Christopher
Dating myself - sad alex
Aroallo anthems (sex mentions):
Not a love song - bülow
Leave before you love me - Marshmello, Jonas Brothers
What's love gotta do with that - Tina Turner
Extra Agenda - Claudia Valentina
Thief - Ansel Elgort 👽
Girlfriend - Bea Miller
Animal - Sir Chloe
Best Friend - The Weeknd
Yuck - Charli XCX
Cupioromantic anthems:
Hopeless Romantic - Sam Fischer 👽
People watching - Conan Gray
Love like that - Lauv
Love love love - Of Monsters and men 👽
High Definition - Waterparks
"No it's not romantic":
Despair - Leo.
Not a love song - Austin Moon
Not wanting to fall in love:
I don't wanna fall in love - Addison Grace
I don't need love - Niic
I don't want love - The Antlers
No lover - Jetty Bones
Your friend is dating someone that is bad for them and you're just *facepalms*
Devil doesn't Bargain - Alec Benjamin
Snap out of it - Arctic Monkeys
No Romeo - Dylan
Third Wheel - Zoe Wees
Aro songs I couldn't really sort in any of those categories but are still dope:
Mad at Disney - Salem Ilese
Turning out - AJR
Loveless girl - Pale Waves 👽
I've never written a song about a boy - Eva Westphal

What about these?
Bleed Magic - IDKHOW
Wayne's World 2 - Rare Americans
Adventure Is Out There - AJR
Already Dead - Puppet
i wish i could wear hats - Brian David Gilbert
Bleed Magic: I found this track years ago when it had just released, entirely by chance. One of the better ones on that album, really. We love Date-Rape-Song in this household. Also, did you catch that this is the only track on the album that uses the "Turn The Page" sound effect they told us to be listening for? I think that's cruel, personally. Points for not recommending "Choke", though, I'm kinda getting tired of that one.
Well, I would recommend you Half Alive from this one, because I found them around the same time, but you already recommended me Half Alive so...do you mind bilingual music?
Wayne's World 2: Two? Why is it "Two"? Is there an earlier version? Is the first version objectively better, like "Saint Bernard"? Anyway, I think the most interesting part of this song is whatever that string is in the background. Is that a fuckin'...Mandolin?? Ukulele? Somethin weird. The instrumentation is what stops me from calling this "Generic", because it is sort of generic, but it's a really unique way of exploring something generic, y'know? It's sort of like subverting a trope, or at least that's how it sounds to me. Making the cliché interesting again. This is a song I would listen to for a day while it was stuck in my head and then get tired of it and want nothing to do with it ever again. And then I would keep seeing it in my feeds because the algorithms would be like "C'mon Sophie, you LOVED this track, you played it for 12 straight hours!!" and then eventually I'd probably start liking it again because I'd keep hearing it. That sounds hyperspecific but I swear it happens all the fucking time.
You're getting Oliver Tree this time, because their vocal styles have some overlap. I don't like this song, but take it anyway. It was either that or Modern Baseball which is also pretty hit or miss for me.
Adventure Is Out There: wait what?? what the fuck??? is this a peppy folk diddy or is it sad alternative? I think it needs to make up its fucking mind. And that's pretty sick, tbh.
you need something with a...banjo... something with a masculine lead and a banjo, yes? yes. Waiting for Death maybe?
Already Dead: This reminds me of the exactly one Falling In Reverse song that they keep re-releasing with different words, if Falling In Reverse were EDM instead of like...rock or...w/e is wrong with FIR... This song has a lot of allusions in it, and it really seems like it's about an actual struggle that's actually happening (which puts it miles beyond FIR), but I don't know if I can say I like this song, either, because it's just too peppy for a song that seems to be about contemplating suicide, at least at first glance (there's probably more to it that I don't see yet, but I'm dubbing this Rockstep-Suicide-Song for now).
I have suicide songs also. Have you ever heard Your Soft Blood?
i wish that i could wear hats: YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@redbeanb0i, @fyre23, and @pun-in-ten-ded asked for Morioh next, so you know I had to deliver the goods! Stardust Crusaders HC’s here, in case you missed it.
✨The Morioh Crew and Their Song Picks✨
(based off SOME of my playlists/tastes)
Yukako Yamagishi
Honestly, her music reflects her pretty well for the most part. She’s got unapologetic bad bitch vibes (and I highkey stan)—she’s also a girl in high school with big simp energy (for Koichi lmao) and it can make her a little crazy. Yukako is like a sour piece of candy with a sweet center—she a little feral, kinda chaotic but also has a cute side you can’t help but like.
Maneater — Nelly Furtado
Freak — Doja Cat
Sorry — Beyoncé
Moonlight — Ariana Grande
ocean eyes — Billie Eilish
Smack a Bitch — Rico Nasty
Okuyasu Nijimura
Ca$h Money Okuya$u gives me cool hip-hop vibes with a bit of alternative and pop on the side; he’s surprisingly cultured. I can totally see him as one of those people constantly wishing for the “old Kanye”. He has pretty diverse music taste, but don’t bother asking him for recommendations. His shit is so disorganized, because he likes everything so his music is literally all on one giant playlist and it’s hella chaotic (like 300+ songs and over 1000 hours of music on one playlist, sickening!!! 😭)
G.O.M.D — J. Cole
Kill Your Heroes — AWOLNATION
Hey Ya — Outkast
Through the Wire — Kanye West
I’m Not Famous — AJR
Ride — twenty one pilots
Koichi Hirose
I feel like his taste can go several different ways. Koichi is that timid guy steadily growing into a more confident person, but then his stand is all “let’s kill dat hoe beeeetch” like literally that’s his soul talking. For him, I’m just going to go with chill rap/nerdy rap, and then some alternative. Koichi and Okuyasu could probably rock the same playlist, but Koichi’s music would be more lowkey where as Okuyasu’s is more mainstream.
Rigamortus — Kendrick Lamar
Stressed out — twenty one pilots
Check the Rhime — A Tribe Called Quest
Hurt Feelings — Mac Miller
EARFQUAKE — Tyler, the Creator
Soul Food — Logic
Josuke Higashikata
Josuke is a sap if I ever saw one! Besides groovy pop music (or Prince’s whole discography), his playlist is mostly RnB love songs lmao (I fully believe Josuke has all of Usher’s music on CD and I take no criticism!!) He’s a romantic at heart so I think some of the music he listens to reflects that quite a bit.
Let Me Love You — Mario
We Belong Together — Mariah Carey
Take Care — Drake
That’s What I Like — Bruno Mars
U Got it Bad — Usher
You & I (Nobody in the World) — John Legend
Bonus: If I Ain’t Got You — Alicia Keys (Josuke would cry like a baby to this song and then vow to play it at his wedding, no, I’m not joking)
Rohan Kishibe
His nutty ass probably doesn’t even listen to music while working. It’s just silence. Rohan is attracted to powerful voices that evoke a lot of feeling, poignant lyrics are his weakness, they hit different and he loves it. He’d probably stan tf outta Adele or Lady Gaga. Essentially, when he listens to music, he wants to be impressed.
Skyfall — Adele
Young & Beautiful — Lana Del Rey
Hearts A Mess — Gotye
Movement — Hozier
Shallow — Lady Gaga
Midnight Mischief — Jordan Rakei
Chandelier (piano ver.) — SIA
✨Extras✨
Yuya Fungami
Hella rap, hella turn up. Master of the aux when it’s time to get hype! Dude has a chin tat, yakwtfgo 😂 Yuya’s like that one guy in the neighborhood with cleanest fits/sneakers, has hella hoes, does forex, drives a hellcat and wakes everybody up with his car and loud music whenever he leaves for work at 6am 💀💀 (some of y’all know what I’m talking about)
Flex — Polo G
High Fashion — Roddy Ricch
Topanga — Trippie Redd
Suge — DaBaby
Bank Account — 21 Savage
Walk It Talk It — Migos
Dior — Pop Smoke
Reimi Sugimoto
Easy! Reimi’s a sweet, friendly, cheerful, young sixteen year old girl. So I’d say her playlist is mostly pop music; bubbly, upbeat dance music. Lots of boy bands, girl bands. I can see her probably being a really big kpop and jpop stan too.
One Thing — One Direction
Sugar — Maroon 5
Work from Home — Fifth Harmony
Black Swan — BTS
Boy Meets Girl — Rude-a
Only One — BoA
Sunny Girl — Awesome City Club
Toshikazu Hazamada
Hazamada’s lowkey (highkey) a troll! The type to boldly say 6ix9ine is the best rapper in the game with a straight face and it gets everybody upset (especially Yuya and Koichi), wears all black air forces, rages while playing 2K. Probably wants a girlfriend so bad, but they always go for guys like Josuke and it makes him upset.
All Girls Are the Same — Juice WRLD
SAD — XXXTentacion
XO Tour Llif3 — Lil Uzi Vert
Falling Down — Lil Peep
Messages — The Hxliday
I Fall Apart — Post Malone
Y’all want Bucci gang next or nah? 👀
#yukako yamagishi#koichi hirose#okuyasu nijimura#josuke higashikata#rohan kishibe#yuya fungami#toshikazu hazamada#reimi sugimoto#diamond is unbreakable#jojo#jjba#jojo’s bizarre adventure

16 & 90 for the spotify :3
Thank you. Heavy and personal at the end, apologies <3
16 - American Trash - Innerpartysystem My life's too short to have a plan Here, let me help you understand First take this drink and this pill Relax your mind and be still Let's find out who I am or And everyone's shutting down The people are so worn out Wake up, the dream is over
Jokingly wound up on a version of Arla's playlist after I saw a post about American Girl, American Boy, and American Trash (all songs) and was like, oh ha ha, 3 genders, Rogue, Johnny, Arla. Also just excellent to groove to though.
90 - Way Less Sad - AJR Livin' sucks but it's suckin' just a little now And I don't wanna cry no more So I set my bar real low or Don't you love it, don't you love it? No, I ain't happy yet But I'm way less sad or And I'm not dead yet, so I guess I'll be alright So, I've been clawing my way out of a pretty awful depression that wrecked my life for several years. Getting to a place where it's not easy, but there's hope for improvement? For me, the lyrics really nail how it feels to be where I am a lot of days. Things aren't fixed, aren't perfect or how they used to be before shit hit the fan, but they are better, and that's making all the difference, making it easier to keep looking forward and keep working to improve. I'm not out the other side, and from an outside perspective, it might not look great, but I know where I started this journey and it feels so, so good to be able to look at the progress I've made. Strange as it may sound, I owe a lot of that to modding and the community around Cyberpunk, so not to get too sappy, but you know, I love y'all. <3

30. Cold as Hell by Jayne Trimble hey look it's one of my obscure songs! this is possibly one of the most tragic songs on my playlist and also possibly *the* most minimalist song on it so. it's a good song but also don't listen to it if you're trying to bring your mood up lol.
40. Heaven's Gate by Fall Out Boy what a love song!!! you know i was listening to this earlier and i was like, 'dang maybe this is should be on my nonexistent list of the most romantic songs ever' bc like! they really said "i know you're a better person than me and i don't deserve you and please let me into heaven when we're both dead and not bc i want to get into heaven but bc you're the most important thing in there!! fuck!!! plus it's not as codependent as, say, last of the real ones bc they acknowledge that they have different goals and that's okay but also! they're going to help the other person achieve their dreams bc that's love bby!! *flings myself onto a chaise lounge*
50. Turning Out by AJR oh oof. this is a song for sure! real talk this song means so much to me and will never fail to dissect me but that's fine bc i love it so much <3

Timе, it doesn't stop to ask you
Why you choose to stay behind

Stay Behind, Mother Mother
Remember when we felt like animations
And didn't need A grades for self-validation?
and
You don't know what it's like to be nothing at all
When the night turns cold my thoughts feel like stone
And it's nothing I can't change
But I can't breathe anymore
Hug All Ur Friends, cavetown
Way Less Sad by AJR. just. all of it.
Spring and the Storm by Tally Hall. the vibessss

I loveeee all the songs u chose for Tim!!! Can u maybe do a post or smth explaining why cus it’s so interesting seeing the choice behind these songs
Hi yes I can!! I’m not gonna do all of them here (I can def do the rest if you’d like!!) bc that’s just a Lot all at once lol. Also I might have typos and I apologize but dkjsfhakh I have bandaids on my fingers and it’s hard to type :^/
Disclaimer: some of these songs fit a lot better than other ones
Hard Times by Paramore
I chose this song bc it’s abbout being sad, but the tone is upbeat and happy. Something I’ve noticed abt Tim is that he is (usually) functionally depressed. Like, I read an article about high functioning depression, and it said that a lot of people who have it have a hole in their life – that they can have a job (and Tim does, being either CEO or Red Robin or both), a partner (who I like to think of as Kon), and be part of a family, maintaining this happy/upeat facade, but if you ask them what they do for fun…they usually can’t answer that. And I don’t think Tim can. When he was younger, he could, but what now?
Fave Lyric: “Walking around / With my little rain cloud / Hanging over my head/ And it ain’t coming down / Where do I go? / Gimme some sort of sign / You hit me with lightning! / Maybe I’ll come alive”
Little Lion Man by Mumford & Sons
I chose this bc I can picture Tim, during a low moment like when Kon or Bruce died, just falling apart and thinking he’s not going to survive it, isn’t strong enough, had something to do with their deaths happening,,, etc. Also there’s a line that references anxiety and like lmao that’s Tim!
Fave Lyric: “Tremble for yourself, my man, / You know that you have seen this all before / Tremble, little lion man, / You’ll never settle any of your scores / Your grace is wasted in your face, / Your boldness stands alone among the wreck / Now learn from your mother or else spend your days biting your own neck”
Heroes (we could be) by Alesso feat. Tove Lo
I chose this bc Tim needed a happy song and also because this has such Young Justice vibes !!!! This is Tim and his friends having fun, roaming around, kicking bad guy ass together!! Actually upon looking at the lyrics again, it’s both YJ and Batman & Robin. It just encompasses Tim’s early days of being a hero I think, the happy carefree nature and the bravery and the hope
Fave Lyric: “Everyday people do everyday things but I / Can’t be one of them / I know you hear me now, we are a different kind / We can do anything”
Burn The House Down by AJR
Tbh I mostly chose this bc its a bop and I think he would sing along to it. BUT I also think this kind of represents his life as a public figure/celeb??? And if I wanna go even further, I think it could represent him when he’s older and more confident, with a better self esteem and maybe a lil less depressed (which I hope is in the cards for his future). Also it talks about lying a lot???? I’m sorry, I don’t have a good analysis for this one lmao
Fave Lyric: “Way up way up we go / Been up and down that road / Way up way up, oh no / We gon’ burn the whole house down / Watch me stand in the line / You’re only serving lies / You’ve got something to hide / We gon’ burn the whole house down”
Don’t Let Me Down by The Chainsmokers feat. Daya
I chose this bc it reminded me of Tim and Dick. I’m of the opinion that Tim getting fired from Robin was the right choice and that Dick wasn’t being cruel or anything like that at all, but I also think that Tim probably saw it that way which is valid. So it’s like, to him, Dick was his big brother who was basically always there for him, and then suddenly… he’s not. And everything else going on in his life starts to suck dramatically, and not having his big brother makes it worse, and he feels betrayed. Meanwhile Dick really is on his side, life is just also terrible for him too so they can’t be as close as they were when Tim was Robin. It can also be about Bruce or Kon tbh – just, wanting one of them to be there and they’re not.
Fave Lyric: “Crashing, hit a wall / Right now I need a miracle / Hurry up now, I need a miracle / Stranded, reaching out / I call your name but you’re not around”
More under the cut!!
Don’t Play by Halsey
This…. I chose this bc I really love the celebrity versions of the Bats, and also how competent Tim can be, and this song brings both of those together. Lol this could also be like…what other people think the Bats/Tim think like?? “Don’t play with me, I’m rich and will fuck you up” kinda thing. This is one of the ones that fits less well than the others but I still get Tim vibes from it so I’m keeping it
Fave Lyric: “Tryna take back what you say to me / I don’t give a damn what you say to me / There ain’t no time for games with me”
Over My Head (Cable Car) by The Fray
I get the feeling that after bad shit happens to Tim, he feels the way this song shows. I haven’t read much YJ so I can’t be sure, but I get the feeling that Tim, no matter what the truth is, feels like he’s alone and there’s no one who will help him. Obviously that can be tied back to his childhood and how he had to take care of himself, and so when there are people who actually do wanna help him he doesn’t see it?? And he’s down on himself so he’s probably thinking “they don’t want to help me, and I can’t blame them”
Fave Lyric: “But that’s how it’s got to be / It’s coming down to nothing more than apathy / I’d rather run the other way than stay and see / The smoke and who’s still standing when it clears”
Icarus by Bastille
Okay not so much the drinking aspect of this song but EVERYTHING ELSE. I even used one of the lyrics for a fic title. Basically my thoughts here are: 1) everyone looks to the Robins and sees how much they do and it’s just A Lot, 2) Tim knows Jason died and so he probably thinks that’s in his future too even if Dick survived, and 3) Tim is doing a lot and feeling a lot and trying to protect himself and his feelings, which is hard work especially for someone so young
Fave Lyric: “Living beyond your years / Acting out all their fears / You feel it in your chest”
Needed Me by Rihanna
Again,,,, the Competence. I love that shit. I love BAMF!Bats, and tbh I think this could apply to more than just Tim, but I picked it for him bc of the first lyric!! This is also one of those ones that doesn’t fit super well but djkhfjkdshah I think this could really fit an AU Tim where he’s like. More morally gray. Not necessarily a bad guy but just more confident, more arrogant maybe, and more jaded from the hero-ing life
Fave Lyric: “I was good on my own, that’s the way it was, that’s the way it was / You was good on the low for a faded fuck, on some faded love / Shit, what the fuck you complaining for? / Feeling jaded, huh?”
What I’ve Done by Linkin Park
Okay I think this fits a lot of different things: his actions after Kon’s death, his and Damian’s relationship, the lies he’s told (to ppl like Steph, his dad, Tam?), his relationship with Bruce maybe?? I can also see it as him thinking on who he was as a kid – a stalker basically lmao, but ultimately harmless – versus who he is now – a skilled vigilante who’s definitely not harmless. Stark difference there. Also he’s forgiving himself, which is something I think is important for somebody with a low self view
Fave Lyric: “In this farewell / There’s no blood / There’s no alibi / ‘Cause I’ve drawn regret / From the truth / Of a thousand lies”
Tell Me You Love Me by Demi Lovato
I chose this because I think Tim is fucked up by the neglect he suffered in his childhood. I think parts of this song can be directed at his parents, the Batfam, his partner(s). He’s afraid that they’ll leave him and he needs the reassurance. Whether or not he gets it is another matter but kdsjfjkdsah. Really, I think this is all just what he’s thinking, and NOT what he’s saying. He needs the reassurance, yes, but he’s not actually asking for it because he doesn’t know how
Fave Lyric: “Bad at love, no, I’m not good at this”
bellyache by Billie Eilish
When I first added this to his playlist I somehow didn’t realize it was about a murderer but dkjfhkjshjkah whatever I’m keeping it. Let’s just go with this is a song about being fucked up (in whatever sense u wanna take that as) and it’s not happy? But like the first one, it’s upbeat and positive. I think the happy sound hiding the less pretty truth is something that explains Tim a lot. Also its a bop and he might sing along to it
Fave Lyric: “Everything I do / The way I wear my noose / Like a necklace / I wanna make ‘em scared / Like I could be anywhere / Like I’m reckless”
Migraine by Twenty One Pilots
Just Another Song About Tim’s Abysmal Mental Health
Fave Lyric: “Behind my eyelids are islands of violence / My mind ship-wrecked / This is the only land my mind could find / I did not know it was such a violent island / Full of tidal waves, suicidal crazed lions / They’re trying to eat me, blood running down their chin / And I know that I can fight or I can let the lion win / I begin to assemble what weapons I can find / 'Cause sometimes to stay alive you gotta kill your mind”
Fake Love by Drake
I hate Drake but kjdsfkjdsfhajh this goes back to a few things. His celebrity and how he’s seen/treated differently by others because of it, his low self view and the paranoia that people aren’t really there for him no matter what the truth might be, how he sees things others wouldn’t, his relationships with people like Damian and Bruce. I think he’s more forgiving than this song would imply, so maybe this is also for that AU Tim I mentioned above???
Fave Lyric: “I’ve been down so long it look like up to me / They look up to me / I got fake people showin’ fake love to me / Straight up to my face, straight up to my face”
Six Feet Under by Billie Eilish
TIMKON TIMKON TIMKON. Post Kon’s death TimKon and Tim is grieving and trying to forget bc it’s so painful!!!!!!
Fave Lyric: “Our love is six feet under / I can’t help but wonder / If our grave was watered by the rain / Would roses bloom? / Could roses bloom / Again?”
Flaws by Bastille
Idek, I feel like this could be how he could view his relationship with Steph, Cass, Damian, Bart, Dick??? Anyone? Just feeling like he hides his flaws and how he feels, and they don’t really (or at least, he thinks they don’t), and he likes that.
Fave Lyric: “There’s a hole in my soul / I can’t fill it, I can’t fill it / There’s a hole in my soul / Can you fill it? Can you fill it?”
do re mi by blackbear
I’m mostly joking when I say this but this is how he feels about Ra’s al Ghul. It doesn’t fit exactly, bc Tim and Ra’s were NOT together ever at any point, but this song is about being annoyed by someone you have a history with and wishing you’d never known them. Which is how I feel Tim should feel about Ra’s. lol
Fave Lyric: “If I could go back to that day we met / I probably would’ve stayed in bed / You wake up everyday and make me feel like I’m incompetent”
Bored by Billie Eilish
I really think this is Tim talking to his parents. Like, when he’s a kid, or when he’s older and looking back, he’s thinking “I did everything I could, it wasn’t enough, and I know it’s not fair but I can’t do anything about it.” I think this song is supposed to be romantic but I’ve never heard it that way skdjfkjsdhakjh I just always think about Tim, home alone and thinking about his parents.
Fave Lyric: “I’m not afraid anymore / What makes you sure you’re all I need? / Forget about it / When you walk out the door and leave me torn / You’re teaching me to live without it / Bored, I’m so bored, I’m so bored, so bored”
Rose-Colored Boy by Paramore
This one is like… everyone else seems to have an easier time being optimistic and positive than Tim does, in his mind. Idk I don’t have much to say kdsjfhsdjkah
Fave Lyric: “Hearts are breaking, wars are raging on / And I have taken my glasses off / You got me nervous / I’m right at the end of my rope / A half-empty girl / Don’t make me laugh, I’ll choke”
King of the Clouds by Panic! At The Disco
This is mostly because it’s a bop and Tim would like it. But also…this is a song about dimensional travel (apparently) and having ambitions that seem lofty, both of which I think Tim can definitely understand!!
Fave Lyric: “And when I fall to rise with stardust in my eyes / In the backbone of night, I’m combustible / Dust in the fire when I can’t sleep a wink, I’m too tired / This old world, this old world”
#tim drake#song analysis#asks#idk what to tag this as#meta#???#this is 20 of them!! if u want more lmk (there are still like 40 more songs I think)#but im done for the day ksdjfkdash#its so hard to type like this#Anonymous

10 11 12?
10) What song sums up this year for you?
Karma by AJR. I actually vibe with the whole Neotheater album, but this one hit different. At first it made me sad, but the more I listened to it, the more determined I felt. I want to make an animatic for it, but less about taz, and more about me personally.
11) What album came out and has been on heavy rotation since then?
Wasteland, Baby! for SURE. I can’t believe Hozier came out of the bog just for us, but he sure did it! NFWMB, Shrike, and Dinner and Diatribes are probably the ones I listen to the most, but I adore all of them!
12) What was your favorite movie of the year?
This is kind of hard, because a lot of the movies that I want to see, I haven’t yet. Based off of the ones I have seen, I’ll go with the guilty pleasure that was Avengers Endgame. I say guilty pleasure, because there was a lot I was less than happy with. But that battle scene did choke me up, and I laughed at every meme that resulted from it. (Also, I was gonna quote Thanos, but then I realized all my favorite Thanos quotes are from infinity war :

ALBUM REVIEW: AJR – Neotheater
In the opening track to AJR’s Neotheater, lead singer Jack Met sings about the band’s fear of reaching their peak and wanting to stay “…next up forever.” While that may be an honest anxiety for artists to have in today’s music world, AJR has nothing to fear. Fresh off of the success of their second studio record, The Click (2017), AJR (comprised of Adam, Jack, and Ryan Met) seemed to reach their peak creating one of the best alt pop records ever. But with Neotheater, the band surpassed all expectations in the best way possible. Neotheater took a different direction from all their previous works, diving into the minds of all three brothers and commenting on things happening in the world today. As said in a recent Instagram post made by the band, “To anyone who writes to us saying stuff like ‘stick to music, stay out of politics…’ we write our truth.” I believe that statement sums up the beauty of their newest album.
Neotheater takes a personal approach when it comes to lyrics, discussing screw-ups members of the band had in the past and the uncertainty of growing up. Their previous two albums had more upbeat party songs like “Weak,” which was an anthem about owning your insecurities and not caring about what others think. Neotheater feels like a theatrical production, with an intro track full of soaring violins and hard-hitting drums, and a finale that sounds like the perfect end to a Broadway show. Throughout the entire 44 minutes, listeners are shown that everyone has their own problems and no matter how big or how small, they affect every individual differently. While this entire album is brilliant from start to end, I want to focus on three songs specifically: “Don’t Throw Out My Legos,” “The Entertainment’s Here,” and “Dear Winter.” I previously wrote reviews on the album’s two lead singles “100 Bad Days” and “Birthday Party” that you can check out here.
“Don’t Throw Out My Legos” is the fourth track on the album and talks about something that really hit home with me and most likely with all college students listening. The song tackles the feeling of moving out of your childhood home and facing the world on your own for the first time. While most move out songs have lyrics centered around saying goodbye to friends and family, AJR talks about Legos. Specifically, Jack sings about their parents throwing out their Legos after they moved, symbolizing that they are not children anymore. To further capture that feeling, the song is full of glitched samples in the beginning, making the verses feel overwhelming and happy. But once the chorus comes around, the song shrinks down to just two voices in harmony and a piano. It’s a powerful moment and made even more emotional with the lyric “Can we keep my Legos at home? / Cause I wanna move out / I don’t wanna move on.”
The second song, “The Entertainment’s Here,” is almost an ode to the modern-day band. It acts as a nice emotional palate cleanser after a couple more personable and sad songs. The song is full of high hats and snares with a chorus of trumpets and miscellaneous sounds helping to fill the space. The pre-chorus has a brilliant moment where Jack sings, “I’ve been thinking / That too much thinking / Can probably get me down.” These lyrics capture the feeling of slowly sinking into sadness but snapping back to reality, which is how the chorus quickly changes the mood from that moment in the song. It’s one of my favorite parts about the band: their ability to sneak in clever wordplay and lyrical moments that can almost go unnoticed at first listen but offer a new look to the song.
The last song I want to touch on is the third single from the record, “Dear Winter.” The song is about Ryan Met’s future child sung by Jack. The song also takes the form of a letter, with Jack introducing each verse (letter) with “Dear Winter.” It’s a heartbreaking song about all the amazing things that Winter will experience when she is born and as she grows up, but the feeling that sometimes Jack won’t get to be there for her or grow up with her. The song further captures this emotion with it being the only acoustic guitar song on the record. With just Jack and his guitar, the song tugs on all the heart strings in all the right ways.
Neotheater is a beautiful work of art full of personal lyrics, outrageous orchestrations, and relatable themes. Since all three brothers still attend Columbia College when they are on break, hearing these words and songs sung by people in this age range adds to the experience of the album, giving you a glimpse of what’s to come, what is happening now, or a deeper look into the past. Another bonus is the fact that a lot of songs have Easter eggs referencing other songs on the album. So, go ahead and give Neotheater a couple listens — I promise you will not regret it.
- Jacob Tracey

AJR/Fletcher/3OH!3 @ ISU’s Braden Auditorium
A different take to the blog this post. I went to a show alone up in the Blono area. For those of you who are reading this and aren’t local, it’s Bloomington-Normal which is the home of the Illinois State University Redbirds. Pretty campus, nice majors, etc. Definitely worth checking into if you’re in the market for college. I have a lot of friends who go here / have went here. The parties are dope, the bar scene is hype, and it’s a great little place overall to spend 2-4 years if you have that kind of time and money.
FIRST IMPRESSION:
This was my first concert at Braden Auditorium and I am going to give it about a 7.5/10 rating for the venue, 8/10 for the vibe, and artists individually will get reviews/ratings later on in the blog. The venue was actually really well ventilated and it stayed cool inside despite the fact that it was packed as fuck and everyone was flailing around like an octopus at a rave. Parking was big and spacious, I conveniently parked closest to the doors not even knowing where I was going. Shout out to Brady for getting me where I needed to go via Snap since I was clueless. It was more or less just following the masses. (Doesn’t that lead to mass murder or cults?) The merchandise was right inside the doors and everything was front and center. AJR was the only artist that had merchandise out so I bought their short sleeved tie dye shirt (I’m a slut for tie dye) and their dusty rose hoodie with “100 BAD DAYS 100 GOOD STORIES” on the back because obviously. That’s my favorite song off Neotheater. I think it was reasonably priced. $35 T-shirt and $65 hoodie. Lucky for me, I brought exactly $100. Amazing on me.
I’m really not a fan of “assigned seating venues” so that was a bummer at first but the chair was super convenient when I wasn’t feeling it for the middle set. The facility is super nice, the security/assistants were super nice, the vibe was super nice. Overall super nice. The box office workers were SO kind helping me get my ticket (obviously I needed a physical ticket for the collection) and pointing me in the right direction to my seat. The people I sat around were kind as well. I had a group of girlfriends to my right, a couple to my left at first, and friend groups ahead and behind. As the Fletcher set went on and I was sitting, I had a weird guy come up and sit in the empty seat to my left. He got creepy after a few minutes and, GOD BLESS, the two girls that were together behind me saved the day and pulled me up to the next row back with them. After a while he tried talking to the group of girlfriends that were to my right originally and after talking with them I found out they were 17!!! So I told them I’d walk them out to their car after the show and they were so appreciative. Girls helping girls is what this future needs to become. Aside from that little stutter, the seating was not the best but wasn’t the worst. Neutral rating there, but for future reference I am gonna try to avoid assigned seating venues. Dat shit lame.
The thing I like the most about this experience for myself was that I was able to let myself feel. I have an issue with bottling up my emotions and I don’t ever process them, I just shove them to the back of my mind and wait until the shelf is too full and one falls off and I deal with it when the glass breaks. So being able to sit here, reflect on my emotions, feel things for what they are at their own face value, it was really nice. I heard all of my feelings loud and clear, I cried tears of happiness, sadness, confusion, excitement. There was so much going on in my brain that I couldn’t hold any of it in. Music is one of the only things that allows me to feel freely and deeply, so this experience helped me sort through what I’ve been holding onto. Some days I wonder why I hold on. I think this is a good habit to get into: going to a concert alone once a month, maybe twice. Not just for me, but for anyone who has a deep connection with music, artists, albums, etc. Overall, a pleasant experience for what I dubbed “Solo Sunday”.
ARTIST REVIEW:
3OH!3 - The first artist up on stage was 3OH!3 and I am honestly so emo over that itself. I’ve been into them since I was in middle school so that was a dope experience. I didn’t think I would see them in concert in my entire life let alone be a few feet from them so that was super surreal and I felt so starstrukk (puns, lol). Honestly, they’re so hype and their humor is very plain, but it’s still funny. I loved their set, recorded half of it on my phone, and will probably blare them on the hour long drive home. It was seriously such a great moment for me, my 13-year-old self was LIVING HER BEST LIFE and I can’t say 22-year-old me could’ve complained either. (10/10)
Fletcher - Fletcher was the second artist out of the trio. Let me start by saying her voice is AMAZING and she is TALENTED. But it’s too loud and strong for the mic and that needs to be adjusted so it doesn’t sound so blaring and shitty. I wasn’t really feeling her set so obviously I sat and started this blog. You could barely understand half the words she was singing when she got quiet, you could only hear her when she was loud. Aside from the sound, her lyrics were spot on for any girl going through literally anything. “Wish I could get a little undrunk so I could uncall you, at 5 in the morning I would unfuck you”. Bruh. My CHEST. Who said she could come for my life like that? This is wack as FUCK, I got called out hard on the whole set. There’s just something about the emotion in her voice that make the lyrics hurt 10x more and I think that is what makes a good artist. I think she talks too much midset and between songs, but maybe she will learn as she tours more that not every song needs an explanation for why she wrote it or when she wrote it or where. Overall I think her lyrics were good, the sound was okay, but the set was mediocre at best. Maybe an artist better on recording compared to live, will definitely give her a listen and fair chance. (7.5/10)
AJR - First off, let me just say that AJR was/is/always will be a (not so) subtle obsession. Neotheater (album review post coming soon) got me in my feelies so fucking hard that I couldn’t breathe. It was a cheap rib shot and it made me want to reevaluate everything I’ve ever said or done in my entire life. Seeing them live, being in the same building as them, it had my feelings on a whole different level. This album has been my rock for the last few weeks on repeat and helping me through this rough patch of my life. Being at the NEOTHEATER WORLD TOUR was unreal. They bring so much hype and playful banter to the stage, seeing them interact with one another (they’re brothers slash the “they were roommates” vine) was so wholesome. The gig was INCREDIBLE. I recorded most of the set to have for the bad days and the sad days. They are fun, upbeat, and quirky in the best way. I cried for the first 4-5 songs because it was so surreal to me and I was just in awe of the fact that the music that I listen to so I can make it through the day sounds 10x better in person. The vibrations in your chest and the pounding headache you find yourself not minding, the amazing crowd that feels the same or similar to the way you do, and the hype that everyone in the place felt. It was all amazing and I will never miss another AJR show again. I really just sat there and soaked in my tears the whole set. It was satisfying in a weird way to connect with something so simple so deeply. (10/10)
THE DRIVE HOME:
The drive home was hype while I sat in the lot trying to leave all the way up until I got out of Blono. It began as a light jam session of “I’m Not Famous” and “Burn The House Down” in the lot, transitioned to 3OH!3 on shuffle (skipping for all the high tempo bops), and then winded down with a play through of Neotheater in its entirety. From the moment I hit the highway from the last exit taking me home, I started the album from the beginning. I let the words sink it, the emotions connect, and I was a bawling mess. I sang, I cried, I bobbed my head along time the heartbreaking truths the lyrics were throwing at me. I revisited painful things from my life, I planned out new future plans. I took my present life into consideration and started working on a plan to get it back together. By the time I got home, my face was covered in teary mascara streaks and my eyes were bloodshot and burning. My cheeks were red and I felt so exhausted. Letting my emotions get out in their own way made me feel like a new person. The months upon months of bottled up feelings are gone and it’s time to start over with new ones.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
I enjoyed myself. That’s a phrase that will rarely come out of my mouth. But hey, it’s true. The experience was one of a kind, it was extraordinary, it was everything I wanted it to be. $50 to see a life altering show (dramatic, yes, but not entirely wrong either) was a steal. I would recommend an AJR headliner any day regardless of the openers. 3OH!3 as a headliner would slide if they had good openers. Fletcher as a headliner would be cool if you like that kind of thing. Don’t go to concerts alone unless you are adequately prepared to be alone. Help those around you, enjoy the moment, live for the now. Let those around you enjoy things in their own way. Be kind, be compassionate, be supportive. Enjoy the time you have because your days are numbered, regardless of the total amount. And when you think you shouldn’t do something because you don’t wanna go alone, do it anyway. It will be good for you and it will bring a new meaning to self care. I feel weightless and so wholesome. I am ready to tackle another week, month, and year.

had a nice long cry tonight while reading amy & roger all because i thought about the day i last talked to my grandma. and it was really freeing but also really sad. i can’t believe this fall is two years. i can’t believe two years ago i hit a deer. i can’t believe two years ago my depression was worse than it’s been since high school.
but i’m still here. and even though grandma never got to see me publish a book or fall in love or get married or any of those big milestone moments, it’s all okay. i just haven’t thought about her in a while and i’ve been thinking a lot these past two weeks about how i process things and communication and my relationships with people and...i’m really happy with what i said to her that last day i saw her.
honestly (and this is the most cliche thing ever) ever since i got back from europe my entire life feels different, like before and after. and even though most of my life is the same, there have been so many things happening in the past two weeks that have just...changed me. and i feel that change in my bones, settling in, getting ready to transform me. it’s like...i really think i was asleep for march. like now i’m finally waking up again and remembering all the things i can do, the things i get to do, the things i want to do. and it’s been a slow process bc things keep getting in the way, but i finally remember how i felt on january 1st when everything was possible and even though i was afraid i was willing to try.
i really do not know where i’m going or what’s going to happen in the next 6 months. but i do know that i have a lot of really great people that i forgot i had. and i know that i am confident in who i am and what i want. i know that god has a plan that he knew the moment i was born and that he wants me to be happy more than anything. i also know that the only way to change is to commit to it and embrace it and i haven’t done that as well as i should. i wanna get better.
if i could use one song to describe the weirdness that is feb/march i would say “karma” by ajr
“Cause I've been so good, I've been working my ass off I've been so good, still, I'm lonely and stressed out I've been so good, I've been so good this year...”
#i realized ive been kinda quiet on the personal posts over here recently#and its bc i finally understood the weight of my following on here#like i dont mind sharing stuff but i need to be better at keeping things to myself#for both our sakes#but this is like the root of where i'm at right now#all is good#just weird#as always#and my brain wont shut up#personal#k anyway GOOD NIGHT

OH BOY this is going to be a long one. I’m very passionate about music so I gave multiple answers…which is why this is REALLY REALLY long I’m sorry jkvksp- 🥲
1. Yeah no I could never pick only one favorite song. That’s literally impossible because I listen to SO MANY SONGS on a daily basis. The closest I’ll ever get to having favorite songs are the ones I consider timeless…mainly due to nostalgic reasons and/or specific memories attached to the songs. Here’s some examples: “Mountain Sound (Of Monsters and Men)”, “Renegades (X Ambassadors)”, “How to save a life” & “Over my head” (by The Fray), “Landslide (Fleetwood Mac)”, “Love song (Sara Bareilles)”, “Fast Car (Tracy Chapman)”, “Mr Jones (Counting Crows)”, “my girl (The Temptations)”, and “Build our machine (DAGames)” of course~
2. I don’t remember which was last, but I was listening to these songs on loop last week: “Moving up in the world (DAGames)”, “Our Word (36 Questions)”, “Ghost in the sun (PrinceWhateverer)”, “Insane (Black Gryph0n)”, “This comes from inside (The Living Tombstone)”, “Oh it’s you (Man on the Internet)”, and “Lonely King (CG5)”
3. I LOVE all the songs by AJR. All of their albums are INCREDIBLE and I’ve definitely memorized a lot of the song lyrics
4. Oooh this is such a difficult question. Uh, I guess, “You will be okay” from Helluva Boss haha. Because it’s got great singing, a soothing melody, and beautiful visuals. Also a narrative story! “Lullaby For a Princess (ponyphonic)” could also work for very similar reasons :) buuut I’ll also mention “Wait for it” from Hamilton & “She used to be mine (Waitress)” because why the hell not
5. I really depends on what you mean by bad mood. When I’m irritable I might listen to an edgy/intense song and put it on blast in my headphones lol. Something like “Too Far (CK9C)”, “War! (Zach Callison)”, or “Happy Pills (Weathers)”. When I’m melancholy I’ll listen to something with a sad tone or slow pace. Songs like “that funny feeling (Bo Burnham)”, “I was human (Rachie’s English cover)”, “Wake up (EDEN)”, and “when you love someone (James TW)”, “Mr. Blue (Bojack Horseman)” …yeah I listen to lots of sad songs lol. Also Paramore songs because “Ain’t It Fun”, “Rose Colored Boy”, and “Hard Times” honestly hit different when your going through stuff
6. Although the original is good, I actually prefer the piano version of “This is Gospel (Panic! At the Disco)” since the emotional weight of the lyrics is more prevalent in that version. Plus more angst ;)
7. Rap, Country music from the 2000’s, and Classical music…sorry 😬
8. “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough (Marvin & Tammi)”, “I Love (Lennon & Maisy)”, “New Soul (Yael Naim)”, “The Way I Am (Ingrid Michaelson)”, “Cups (Anna Kendrick)”, “No Place I’d Rather Be (Clean Bandit)”, “Me Without You (TobyMac)”, “Daughter of the Moon (Adriana Figueroa)”, and “Lost Boy (Ruth B)”. I remember I was very little when I heard these songs, like either in preschool or kindergarten, and I absolutely fell in love with them. And even now they hold a special place in my heart <3
9.“Somewhere only we know” by Keane…for so so many reasons 💜 Another close one is “Iris” by TheGooGooDolls…but mainly the chorus part. I can also find myself relating to “Landslide” by Feetwood Mac.
10. Oh definitely “Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran. I literally dreaded when that song would come on the radio since it made me very very uncomfortable. I’m a highly sex repulsed asexual so I disliked how direct the 1st person lyrics were, especially during the part “put that body on me” like EGH I just can’t deal with that. And it would play on the radio NON STOP. But on the flip side, I absolutely ADORE “Castle on the hill” and even his more recent songs like “Bad habits”…so I don’t hate his music, I just strongly dislike that one song since it tormented me for so many years lol
11. Uh nothing recently, but MONTHS ago one of my sweetest friends recommended the “How To Train Your Dragon” ost and songs from the video game “Ori and the Blind Forest”. It gave me a lot of Hollow Knight vibes which I very much like <3
12. I honestly don’t remember. I used to look up lyrics all the time, but now I just listen to songs on repeat until the lyrics stick with me. I think it would have been “Oh it’s you (Man on the Internet)” because I desperately wanted to sing along with that one
13. “Spamton (Deltarune)”, “Friday Theme (3008 & Roblox)”, “Good Job You Made It To The Bottom Of The Mind Control Facility (The Stanley Parable)”, “Bully Bandstand Demo (Friendship is Witchcraft’s ost)”, and “Pugsley’s musical spell song” (Dead end: Paranormal Park)
14. This is probably a highly controversial opinion but…”Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen)” jskcvkslp I’m sorry but it JUST KEEPS GOING and I have literally no clue what the songs even about. I will say it was very much ahead of its time and it sounds like a cool mashup of many songs in one but like…idk it’s just not my thing :/
15. Christina Grimme, Rory Webley, Wyn Starks, and Amanda Fagan. So underrated bro it honestly hurts my soul that they don’t get enough recognition. And I know Christina Grimmie was very well known at some point, but I don’t hear anyone talking about her music anymore…she deserves to be remembered by future generations :( Also shout out to “Lemon (english ver)” sung by Abby & the “Dying in LA” cover by Leeningtowerofpizza because these two have such lovely voices and also deserve recognition <3
16. Individual songs 100%
17. “Moving up in the world (DAGames)”, “Hell of a ride (Bo Burnum)”, “A Good Song Never Dies (Saint Motel)”, “So Caught Up (The Teskey Brothers)”, “Bittersweet (Big Head Todd & the Monsters)”, “The Graduate (The Arcadian Wild)”, “Closing Time (Senisonic)”, “Yobanashi Deceive (English cover by Will Stetson)”, “Epoch (The Living Tombstone remix)”, and “Hey Ya! (OutKast)” even though I know the lyrics are supposed to be deep…please forgive me lol
18. I do this mainly with songs translated into English like “Sayoko”, “Daybreak and Fireflies”, “Lemon”, and “Ayano’s Theory of Happiness”. But I also do it with heartfelt songs that I feel deserve my total attention to the message such as “More” (Halsey), “Brother (Kodaline)”, “Must Have Been the Wind (Alec Benjamin)”, “Two (Sleeping At Last)”, “Hurt (Johnny Cash’s cover)”, “Vincent (Don McLean)”, and “Lucky (Amy Collins)”…and then I start sobbing 🥲
19. I’m actually pretty fond of the song “Devil's Train (The Lab Rats)” even though it could be easily classified as rap. The Stupendium also makes musical/rap-like songs but I find myself enjoying most of them. Demon Dice makes incredible rap music too. I rarely have exceptions to classical music besides some video game ost’s. And “Mean (Taylor Swift)” and “Good Girl (Carrie Underwood)” are exceptions for country music.
20. I prefer my music quiet (2-3 clicks in volume), EXCEPT when I’m daydreaming an intense battle scene or pretending to be a confident masculine villain 😅. When I have these “triggered” daydreams (I call them triggered since these are recurring daydreams directly linked to specific songs) I get a sudden urge to sprint around the house & put the music really loud (which to me is 6-8 clicks) until I slow down my sprinting pace. It stays low volume for all other songs I listen too though
