A Guide to Choosing a Good Management College in North India
As a student in North India, you probably want to pursue a management degree to either start your own venture or progress smoothly in your career path. It makes sense too, since there are so many management colleges dotting this part of India, and there are so many reputed companies as well as business opportunities here. In fact, MBA is one of the most sought-after degrees in the country and it is important for students like you to get admission to a good management college in North India or any other part of the country, so that you can land that perfect job and build a successful career. Now, However, selecting the right management college in North India can be a daunting task. Especially given the vast number of specialisations and courses provided by different colleges. Here, in this article, we have compiled a list of some factors that you should consider while looking for the right management college.
Also Read : How To Choose a Good Law College In North India Things to consider while choosing a good management college in North India Career Objectives Management colleges can offer degrees in a number of specialisations, which makes it important for you to decide on your career goals or objectives first and foremost. It is possible that what you want to do in life isn’t something that a lot of colleges provide, and hence, your list of eligible colleges might be a short one. For instance, if you’re a doctor and want to hold managerial positions in a hospital, your MBA curriculum and subjects will differ from the conventional one-size-fits-all MBA courses. Job Opportunities This is one of the most important factors for choosing the right management college. After the end of the term, you will surely want to have a job offer in hand. And a good management college will have a robust training and placement cell in place that will help you in getting your dream job. If you want to work abroad then it is extra important to choose the best management college that has a strong network of corporate partners and tie-ups with companies that visit the college and offer jobs.
Several management colleges in India boast a 100% placement record. While this is not a guarantee that you will get a job, it is still a good place to start. Accreditation In the middle of placements, events, infrastructure and other perks of a college, students often tend to overlook the most important parameter: checking whether the college is accredited or not. AICTE and AIU are national bodies that inspect a college, its courses, faculties, and other factors in order to provide an accredited status to the college. Management colleges that aren’t accredited don’t have so much value in the market and bigger companies often tend to overlook students who graduate from these colleges. Since MBA fees are generally on the higher side, you would want to study in a college that can provide a valid degree. Faculty Go through faculty reviews shared by past and current students. What you learn in a good management college is important for not just landing a job, but also for progressing in your professional field. Some colleges also collaborate with leaders and top businessmen in their industries so that they visit as guest lecturers to impart valuable knowledge to students. This can be a great asset for you as these leaders can act as role models and inspire you to work harder in college. Pedagogy & Curriculum While teachers are important, teaching methods can make a huge difference as well. Look for the right management colleges that incorporate modern teaching methods in their pedagogy and are not just limited to theoretical learning involving books and notes. Practical learning with the help of group discussions, real-time problem solving, industry interactions, solving real-life business problems and more, will provide you a holistic experience. The curriculum of the college should also be updated regularly to match international standards and adapt to any changes in the field or the profession you are interested in. College Legacy India has hundreds of management colleges spread across the country. In a country where the status of a person holds great importance, the legacy of the college you’re joining can help you stand apart from others instantly. Good management colleges that have been around for decades have already made a name for themselves not just among the students but in the business world as well. So, joining a reputed college which is recognised by everyone and has a rich history can automatically open some doors for you that other colleges can’t, no matter their current status. Infrastructure and Fees MBA colleges are known for asking high fees from students for a 1 or 2-year course. The fees tend to reflect the reputation of a college and what kind of jobs a student can expect to get during the placement. While the objective of every student is to get placed in a company and earn big bucks, you should be wary of the infrastructure that a college claims to have. Since you’re paying such high fees, you should expect the college to have modern classrooms, hostels, auditoriums, and other facilities that not only help you with academics, but also make it easier for you to live on the campus. Alumni Relations One of the best ways of deciding whether the college is good for you or not is by getting to know the students who graduated from the college in the past and how they are faring in their respective fields. For instance, a good management college having several entrepreneurs and industry leaders as their alumni can be a great place for you to learn about business and apply it to your own venture. A college with a strong alumni relation can help you with contacts as well as vital business knowledge that is gained only when someone becomes a big name in their field.
All in all, finding the right management college in North India can be a challenging task for any student. After all, if you go about it the right way, an MBA degree can provide you tremendous scope to learn and progress in whatever field you wish to pursue. While the above factors are not the only guidelines for shortlisting colleges, they can help you a lot in making the correct decision while choosing a management college in North India.

NEC in the List of Best Engineering Colleges in Guntur District
The Andhra Pradesh State Skills Development Corporation (APSSDC) recently named Narasaraopeta Engineering College (NEC) as its ‘CM Skills Centre of Excellence’ due to the latter’s contributions towards engineering, technology, entrepreneurship, and employment generation in the Palnadu region of the Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh.
The APSSDC will give the higher-education institution a research grant, and build a centre dedicated to R&D and skill development. The centre will further help Narasaraopeta Engineering College (NEC) in placements, attract larger tech companies to the region, and further its students’ entrepreneurial zeal.
Besides this, NEC’s native business incubation centre, Andhra Technology Business Incubator (ATBI) under Startup NEC, has received an accreditation from the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (Ministry of MSME) for successfully nurturing more than 12 startups of its student-entrepreneurs. Among these startup ventures, the most popular ones are Digi Doc Times, HaasPro, and Book Buddy Shop. These three startups aim to modernise healthcare, hospitality, and education in the rural region.
The AICTE-approved engineering college organises several events grounded in leadership, business, and technology. The incubation centre provides students of NEC and other institutions a wide network of mentors, successful entrepreneurs, industry experts, etc.
The Startup NEC E-Weekend, for instance, is a two-day entrepreneurship event inspired by the international conference, Startup Weekend. The E-Weekend is a medium for pitching business ideas to investors. Students from any college or university in the State can participate in it.
Another example of such events is ‘The Founders Conclave’, a national-level event recently brought to NEC. The higher-education institution’s MSME-recognised incubation centre mediates both the events.
Besides these conferences and events, the AICTE-approved higher education institution also sends its students to national and international programs to sharpen their technical and interpersonal skills.
One such program is University Innovation Fellows by Stanford University’s Hasso-Plattner Institute of Design. Five students from NEC were selected from the pool of students across the globe for this prestigious program, which is to be held in the United States.
Narasaraopeta Engineering College is also hosting the International Conference on Mobile Cloud Computing, Communication & Engineering - 2018 (ICMCCCE-18). The conference will witness doctorate holders, industry professionals, students, and scientists from all over the world presenting research papers on topics in various STEM and management disciplines.
The faculty members of NEC have been a kernel to the college and its students’ technological and entrepreneurial success. They guide students through a research-oriented and practice-oriented teaching methodology. The faculty members have helped several students become successful engineers, business administrators, and entrepreneurs.
The engineering college employs several layers of educators, including doctorate holders and experienced engineers and industrial scientists. The faculty members hold multiple advanced degrees from institutions such as the IITs, in India, and from universities, such as Cambridge, from around the world.
NEC, being the only institution in the region recognised by the council for technical education, has been attracting IT giants such as Tech Mahindra and retail titans such as Paytm to Palnadu, increasing the State’s job creation efforts in the region and the district.
Narasaraopeta Engineering College is fast becoming a centre of entrepreneurship and technology in Guntur District.

NITI Aayog calls for applications for ‘Mentor India’
NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), Government of India’s flagship program to promote innovation and entrepreneurship, is inviting applications for ‘Mentor India’. Mentor India is as a strategic nation building initiative to engage leaders who can guide and mentor schools students in 900+ Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL) established by AIM in schools across India. Through Mentor India, AIM is looking to engage leaders who can dedicate 1 – 2 hours every week in one or more such labs and enable school students to experience, learn and practice future skills such as design and computational thinking. Envisaged to be the largest formal volunteer mentor network, it is aimed at maximizing the impact of ATLs. AIM is looking for corporates / professionals / academicians / students etc. who are keen to contribute to this strategic nation building initiative. ATLs are dedicated works spaces where students (from Class 6th to Class 12th) learn innovation skills and develop ideas that will go on to transform India. The labs are powered to acquaint students with state-of-the-art equipment such as 3D printers, robotics & electronics development tools, IoT & sensors etc. With 900+ labs already identified, AIM will establish 2,000 such labs by end of 2017. The labs are designed to spur the spark of creativity, and go beyond regular curriculum and text book learning. The labs will let students explore skills of future such as design and computational thinking, adaptive learning and artificial intelligence. Mentor India has already received strong support from Corporate India. More than 30 of India’s top thought leaders have signed up as Brand Ambassadors for the initiative. More than 90 ATLs in schools across India have been adopted and are being supported by various corporations / institutions from multiple sectors. AIM is actively looking to engage with more corporations / institutions to adopt ATLs and enable their employees to join Mentor India as volunteers. Furthermore, AIM has signed a SoI with AICTE to provide mentor-ship support of affiliated colleges for 366 ATLs. Possible areas of contribution from mentors include technical knowhow, innovation and design, inspirational, and business and entrepreneurship. Mentors are expected to discuss with students the various problems our Indian society is facing across multiple themes, and motivate students to develop solutions to these community problems. Mentor India program will be further extended to provide support to Atal Incubation Centers and Existing Incubation Centers as well. Proposed recognition for mentors include digital certificate of recognition, hon-our board for top mentors, meet and greet with prominent dignitaries and invites to Government of India events. The deadline for submission of applications to join Mentor India is 30 Sep 2017. The applications can be submitted online at: http://aim.gov.in/mentor.php Click to Post
