Venture from Overwatch Well Venture isn't getting a skin for quite some time. I decided to do quickish fanart of them in the post apocalpyse kitbashing style that is so inspired by Moebius/Miyazaki. I've wanted to do a fanart of them since their release but I hadn't come up with a good subject to explore.

Last night I dreamt I was playing Overwatch and they’d added a new tank hero called “Big Bubba”

He was this flamboyant tough man from New Orleans. His primary fire was atrociously weak, and he had 6 deployable shields.

In the dream, my brother used him once and vowed to never play tank again b/c of how unfun he was to use.

It’s here: months after it was first announced, Nightshade, a new, free software tool allowing artists to “poison” AI models seeking to train on their works, is now available for artists to download and use on any artworks they see fit.

Developed by computer scientists on the Glaze Project at the University of Chicago under Professor Ben Zhao, the tool essentially works by turning AI against AI. It makes use of the popular open-source machine learning framework PyTorch to identify what’s in a given image, then applies a tag that subtly alters the image at the pixel level so other AI programs see something totally different than what’s actually there.

Humane AI Pin crashing and burning makes me a small bit hopeful that Sequoia Capital will lose it's fucking shirt on their "AI" play. They claim to have invested $50b so far and seen ~$3b in returns. They need this shit to take off, and the first real test of a general consumer facing AI product is abysmal. Good. Fuck em.
