she’s staring up at him all doe-eyed, a little longer than even she had realized, before it hits her that his lips were actually moving in her direction this time. then, she realizes that she’d been staring at his lips a little longer than she normally does. did she always look at axel like that whenever he wasn’t speaking to her? did she look at anyone like that when they were in the same room with her? it’s a series of questions in her own mind that briefly stun aphrodite, so much that her pen stops pushing ink into her notepad and instead of writing a song like she planned to, she’d been pressing the ballpoint pen into her palm in circles until she got herself together enough to remember that axel had asked her a question, and the expectant stare he’d been giving her didn’t help her case but did remind her that in all of the seconds that passed, he was still waiting on her to give him an answer.

“oh! you look...good. yeah.” her voice comes out much softer than it normally would, and she belatedly signed out the words she’s just spoken in case her nerves hindered him from being able to hear them well. “um, if we...were on a date? i don’t know... — i still think you look really good. you always do.” ditey could feel the anxiety that fluttered in her stomach, all at mention of going on a date. except, they weren’t...she thinks. she’d been staring the whole time instead of watching his lips move, so she really had no idea where he was going in the first place — and if he was going on a date, it definitely wasn’t with her. “i’m sure anyone else would think so, too.”
