do you reckon sinbad has attachment and abandonment issues. hear me out on this. his father left when he was young, his mother died even earlier. that's bound to mess you up. is that why he feels guilty for leaving brineville to travel? will he feel like he's repeating his father's actions and mistakes? was his hesitance and masked upset when he thought merlin would leave caused by feeling like merlin would abandon him too?

Thinking about Rustport and how everyone here calls us by our chosen name instead of "Merlin". How Sonja specifically states that she'll make sure people know the real us rather than our title. How the people of Rustport went from seeing us as an outsider to genuinely accepting and respecting us as one of their own. How Sonja's affinity title is "Rustport's", and Lucca respects us so much that he starts saluting us everytime we see him and even suggests we join the Whispers officially. How Sinbad considers us his first real friend in ages, going as far as to place his trust in us even in life threatening situations.

Sinbad's mothers trusting us to keep their boy safe and on the right path, and to help out around Brineville despite us being an outsider. The Whispers like Knox and Bella having a deep sense of respect and admiration for us, holding our name in high regard and giving us preferential treatment. The Water Wights like Al, Cecil and Nico trusting that we'll always help them and make sure they're not looked down on when they try to live an honest life. Hell, even Bols has started to appreciate our presence and crack jokes with us.

Honestly, when we first got to Rustport it was miserable and harsh, but as the season progressed we really got to build a genuine sense of community with everyone. And I personally grew to love Rustport and feel an odd sense of protectiveness over the little community there.

And that left me wondering, is this what it was like for our Merlin's in Ryeham before we lost our memories?
