soooo.

as I said previously on my main blog, I have restarted AC: Odyssey after an ETERNITY away from any AC game, and fml, after having been kidnapped by the Brit Gremlin and his beloved Swedish GrandMaster, I *finally* am able to fully focus and indulge in AC:Odyssey.

And because of this, I decided that I needed to do a full makeover of my darling Apollonia, both aesthetically AND in terms of backstory.

I need to find my documents about her (tomorrow I am heading to my storage to find my notebooks with all the notes about her and Alexios), but at least for now, I am done with her restyling and lemme tell you: I am IN LOVE with how she turned out.

You all know by now that I am partial to a dark haired beauty, and I decided to go down that route with Apollonia as well, even though, her most striking feature are her eyes lolo (ngl, when i was working on her, all I could think of was this meme, for her and Alexios

and lemme tell you, I was rofling).

I like to imagine that in this artwork, she has seen Alexios doing something *INCREDIBLY* risky, and cannot believe her eyes lolol

Maybe you'd like this (a modern love song written in ancient Greek. Just got it in my YouTube recs, and I don't know much about the Greek language, not to mention ancient Greek or Greek poetry, but the song seems very beautiful. If you are interested, I would love to hear your thoughts on it)

It's interesting! as a song it's not really my cup of tea at all, but there's obviously a lot of thought and work behind it, and there's everything they're mentioning below the video about the inspiration and stuff which is also fun. I know other songs where people are trying to write lyrics in ancient greek and stuff, it might just be my biased brain but it always sounds a little off to me. learning a foreign language that also nobody speaks anymore is difficult, let alone writting lyrics in it. I think I had the same issue with some song lyrics in ac:odyssey if i remember correctly

they have a lot of music on their channel. I have to counter-offer this piece by them, which I do love a lot. they also have a bunch of lesson-videos about playing the lyre which is what I find the most interesting out of all their work tbh.

The guy who plays the lyre in the song I sent is coincidentally also in another video I wanted to recommend. It's a greek folk song, not in ancient greek, but there's THIS version where the guy plays a lyre to accompany the singer (and I just love this singer oh my god please listen to alkyone's other stuff like genesis and xenitemena mou poulia) and I would love to see lyres like that incorporated into generally modern greek music and not faux-ancient-like music , I think there's a lot of untapped potential there.

Just watched the Dragon Age: the Veilguard gameplay reveal and it looks so much fun!

The combat kind of reminds me of AC:Odyssey (prob cuz I'm doing a replay at the mo) but you have 2 companions to help. I'm enjoying the visual style of Minrathous - I'd call it MagePunk XD. The animation is nice - less cartoony than the trailer but that's to be expected (though honestly I actually didn't mind that style, it looked fun).

We met Rook (our character - customizable), Varric, Harding, and Neve. There were lots of demons from the fade - and yes there was a Pride demon, props to Varric's comment on that one ;)

All in all, I'm excited!

my pre-veilguard strategy was to Refuse Developing Expectations and, while not being neurotic about “spoilers,” try to learn as little as possible about it. as such i didn’t let myself think that hard about the shift toward the action genre. it was what it was!

and now that i’ve played about ten hours, my take is that it’s fine. action games aren’t my thing, i like more strategy focused gameplay, but it is fun to Press Button and Make Explosion. i’m not bored or disappointed, i’d just be happier if the combat more closely matched, like, da2.

it initially reminded me a LOT of ac:odyssey which did annoy me, though. partly just out of, oh this is down to the menu layout so similar to another game, really guys? but also just. well, ac games to me are characterised by PADDING. oh my god the padding. meaningless shit to do just to have shit to do and make number go up. which is fun sometimes! i like playing it while i’m watching a movie on the other monitor. but it’s not what i want from a dragon age game

My gripe with Fallout 3 really isn't the game's fault. The setting and gameplay just wasn't my thing, but it was aggressively recommended to me by some toxic friends that I no longer talk to and it is what it is.

In the same vein, I know Skyward Sword isn't universally hated, but from what I've seen it's unpopular with parts of the fandom and I really struggled to fill this slot, so that's why it's there.

Odyssey means so much to me. I first started playing it years ago when I was just coming to terms with my identity as a lesbian and Kassandra was the perfect protagonist. Playing as an unapologetically masculine woman with so many wlw options was exactly what I needed at the time and I'll always be grateful!
