Ok but what would you rank the boys in terms of alcohol tolerance (including Shay, Basim and Bayek if you know them well enough)
so Bayek is the only one out of those 3 that I don't know enough to rank. if I'm being honest I couldn't get into origins or odyssey. I keep telling myself I'm going to force myself into playing them but life has been busy. (Unity) & Syndicate was the last (what I consider) AC game. but since the whole Desmond thing the franchise has gone downhill. I'm waiting, hoping for Elijah to show up in the plot line soon 😭
the boys:
so obviously the ones who can hold their liquor the most is Edward, Arno & Jacob.
I'm gonna put Desmond & Ezio in the middle
then Altaïr & Connor as the light weights.
Basim (Mirage) when the game starts out hes like 17 or 18 and seemed very focused on the hidden ones and what they do, trying to impress them etc. I don't see him doing much drinking hence another light weight. plus from there on out when his training starts he's busy with all of that, and by the time his training is over he's straight into the main mission of finding the grandmasters. so i would put him with Altaïr & Connor.
Basim(Valhalla) since he's in his 30's (if I recall correctly) in this game I'd say he's had more down time as he's gotten older i know hytham is his pupil i honestly dont remember if and how many others there were and i dont even remember if hes a mentor or not at that point. i was too focused on the main storyline that Basim was not even part of my thought process until he was in the main missions. PLUS when you're living amongst the Raven Clan and knowing about their feasts and drinking competitions, I'd say he's on the higher end, just a little more than Desmond & Ezio.
Shay I'd put Shay in the middle with Desmond & Ezio. he just seems like the type of guy that can hold his liquor, but drink socially. but he also doesn't like to drink alone, he'd prefer to drink with friends/allies.
I say Altaïr & Connor as light weights since they take their roles so serious, like both of them have been focused on training growing up and they don't really converse with people either. they don't seem like the drinking type honestly. Altaïr was born and raised in the brotherhood while Connor started training when he was a teenager I think, he looked at like 16 or 17 to me tbh. but then again he has a large frame so he could have been younger.
idk if yall ever forgot when playing Unity when Arno was drunk, I would forget not to use Eagle Vision and about blinded myself while using it. I also felt bad for Arno, rip Arnos eyes and splitting skull.

How did you learn about the Assassin's Creed games? Which are your favorites and why?
OHHGGHEHEGEG GOOD QUESTION‼️‼️💥💥
My lovely sister Courtney had Ac2, the collection with Liberation ac3 and ac4 in it, and Unity. (I have almost all the games now LMAO)
Idk when but one day I remembered how I used to watch her play Ac2, I was maybe 12, and she would climb on top of the buildings to get a viewpoint and I think I fell in love right then and there.
I just loved how it looked and the atmosphere blew me away. I couldn't play at the time though bc I was a child, mature game y'know.
I picked it up maybe last year and mistakenly played 3 after playing 2 so you can imagine how confused I was with the main storyline.
Once I played 3 though GOD I fell in LOVE WITH ITBRHRJRHE❤️🗣️🗣️‼️‼️💥💥
Its fs my fav ac considering all the amazing aspects of the game itself. Character design, world building, amazing storyline, super fun combat, it's so good rgegegege
All things said, I have more to say abt 3 but all the older games I hold so dearly to my heart and especially Rogue, it's my second fav<3
Thank you for asking my fellow brother<33

It was just announced that AC Mirage is releasing in October. Are you excited? (I managed to get the collectors edition!)
Congrats! I pre-ordered the Collector's Edition as well <3
Sidebar: the normal version is currently 49.99 USD in PSN which gives us an idea of how long (and how big) this game would be. It's not surprising as Mirage did start off as a DLC of Valhalla so this will definitely not be as long as the recent AC games. I hope that means this would have a tighter more focused storyline and doesn't mean the narrative suffers because it's shorter. Also, as it's available for previous generations, it would probably have the same graphic options as Valhalla.
Alright, this can be a bit of a rant because, well, it's me XD
I read it's using Origin's parkour system but they've improved on it which sounds nice 'cause it's like the love-child of old and current AC games' parkour system.
The scene where Basim used that lamp-looking thing to quickly turn? Reminded me a lot of the old AC games, that's for sure. And that throwing knife kill? Definitely gave me AC1 flashbacks XD
Special assassinations are back and, not gonna lie, absolutely excited for that. That was my favorite part of the stealth mechanics of Unity, Syndicate and Valhalla's Siege of Paris DLC. I'm hoping it's quite diverse like those games and that scene where Basim uses a rope to hang his target feels like one of the special assassinations.
Also, also, also...
Chain Assassinations look so cool and if this is an unlockable skill, I know where my early skill points are going XD
As for open combat, I'm a sucker for dual wielders especially if it's the more traditional long blade/short blade combo and I love fighting styles that have a lot of twirling around so this entire sequence?
Yeeeessss, thank you. Twirl for me, dorky wolf dad. Twirl. I demand more twirling.
Btw, his Mirage fighting style is a bit different from his AC Valhalla style and I wonder if we'll know why he changed his fighting style in Mirage? (I'm betting it's connected to his Loki memories)
Baghdad looks awesome btw and, not gonna lie, I am having AC1, Revelations and Origins flashbacks.
Also, we saw another character in this trailer that is actually mentioned in AC Valhalla.
(So we know he's not gonna die which is nice XD)
Overall: I am cautiously optimistic and I hope Ubisoft doesn't fuck this up. I really hope Mirage is a success so the higher-ups in Ubisoft see that stealth-heavy AC games are worth developing.
Also, I read the Prince of Persia remake is being handled by Ubisoft Montreal (who is also handling Hexe) who handled Mirage so this might be a good indication of the kind of game the Prince of Persia remake could be.
Also, because it's me.
Hello, Hidden Blade Kink, my old-ish friend.
#real talk though#i'm gonna get my copy around december or january though#because shipping XD#but feel free to spoil me i'm cool with that#ngl#the best part of ac mirage releasing in october is#i have 4 months to procrastinate the fic idea I have#that only works before ac mirage releases XD#this isn't an analysis#right#i don't know anymore#teecup rants#assassin's creed#assassin's creed mirage#basim ibn ishaq

Speaking of ac victory. Clearly there were changes made in the process of it turning into the syndicate game we know. Were/are you happy with the game we got?
Oh absolutely i'm happy with the game we got. I would have liked victory dgmw especially with logs suggesting giants causeway was gonna feature and the isu storylines we could have gotten with that.
But no I am still happy with the game we got, the characters are fleshed out and the story and game are fun. I think there's a slight chance Victory would have been kind of a unity case where I like the story but not the gameplay.

The thing about Assassin's Creed is that it's always been deeply fucking stupid but at least in the early days it did it with an earnestness that wasn't blatantly trying so damn hard
Like AC2, commonly regarded one of the high points of the series (which is now at eleven mainline games), culminates with the Pope using the Papal Ferula as a magic staff (which is actually an ancient high-tech mind control weapon) in a duel in the Sistine Chapel before running off to the secret vault underneath the altar where you go for a second round boxing match, this is absolutely fucking ridiculous by any measure whatsoever but it's presented so straight-faced and down-to-earth that you just kinda go with it like hammy classic sci-fi
But then they start getting desperate in AC Syndicate ('cause they rushed Unity and it came out the door broken so they made fanservice schlock to try and regain some goodwill), where you meet Alexander Graham Bell and he makes you some fucking Batman gadgets to help out your friend the liberal democrat Karl Marx and then get knighted by Queen Victoria, and like sure nothing's individually any more ridiculous than the previous games but there's just too much of it, like this is a game where half the main plot is about searching for the Turin Shroud which is really an ancient high-tech medical device and that's standard acceptable fare for this series but that sort of nonsense has to come with setup, nobody would buy the extremely silly AC2 finale if it didn't have a whole serious storyline leading up to it, the historical nonsense needs a decent foundation or it just reads like the self-insert fanfiction of a teenage history nerd
Then with the RPG trilogy we end up with the desperation of ever-increasing stakes to try and stay big & dramatic (which a stealth game series should never be in the first place) so we go from a glut of historic cameos to actual fucking gods and mythical creature which stretch the realm of plausibility even in this utterly batshit series, I just wish the devs would calm the fuck down

i love that ac unity isn’t my favorite so i’m replaying it and i can’t remember any of the storyline like did i finish this? (i did) but playing the very clearly meant for online play missions is exactly why i don’t like this game
#acey talks#like this is doable but it’s glaring it’s meant to be played with others bc it’s painstaking solo#OR MAYBE I SUCK!!!! i can admit i suck!! so maybe i’m just complaining to complain

To all y'all who are saying Arno is physically weaker than previous Assassins - you're right and you should say it.
Think about it. Altaïr and Shay were both raised in the Brotherhood. Ezio was a street brawler, womanizer, and (by necessity) escape artist. Connor was a hunter, Edward a sailor. Arno was a nobleman's servant - a messenger, horse groomer, and gambler on the side. Sure, he could swing a blade, but going toe-to-toe with multiple assailants? Not a chance, buddy.
Side note: I have actually gotten quite used to AC Unity, to the point where I'm actually a better fighter as Arno than i ever was with Ezio. I've started the AC Syndicate storyline but i absolutely will be returning to Unity regularly.
Another thing i was gonna mention in my AC Unity post about how Arno feels different from earlier Assassins:
If Arno gets into a fight outside of his caliber, he loses. Badly. Maybe I'm just not as good at the game as other hardcore players, but if I fuck up a stealth mission and suddenly I'm fighting eight revolutionaries, I'm screwed.
If Ezio screws up the stealth, he beats twelve guards into submission with his bare hands. Connor takes on whole squads by himself, on level ground. Shay takes on entire forts singlehandedly. Even Altaïr does this - the climax of his story is taking on Everybody At The Same Time and winning.
Arno wins fights by surprise, speed, and planning. I've learned to kill snipers on rooftops before moving to ground level, how to utilize cherry bombs to draw attention away from a target. My favourite trick is drawing attention with a berserk blade and picking off the combatants with a rifle from cover.
Playing AC Unity is fundamentally different from any AC game that came before, and its game design is extremely impressive.

ubisoft please listen... we don't want "the biggest open world yet", we want a good game with a great storyline and a great single player experience; more enjoyable content, less fetch quests and no armor locked behind a pay wall. bigger does not mean better. stop being cowards!!! and start putting actual effort into the story you want to tell instead of shoving huge maps filled with absolutely nothing down our throats
#this article came out and honestly idk if ill keep playing ac games#ac is already such a chore to play bc .. the map is huge yet has NOTHING noteworthy in it#imagine getting a game abt vikings and the quests are all ''go get this and go kill that person and steal this''#it's BORING. they need to stop using HUGE maps to hide the fact that they cannot make a good game#w a good and memorable storyline#JUST... STOP JSJSJSJ#it hurts bc most games up until ac unity were good! but now?? god wtf#carolina.txt#ubisoft#assassin's creed

I think V3 & V8 do effectively convey the notion that raw force (be it personal or state level) doesn't solve shit if you're aimlessly saber-rattling, turning on allies & bamboozling (or throttling) the populace to preserve every scrap of power. There's also the ongoing failure of old-guard leaders (Jimmy, Leo, Oz.) to get out of their ruts, though I 'd have tabled the Musical Maiden Chair thing for a volume once Penny got it. *Ruby* has more than enough shit to work out with silver eyes alone.
Yeah, the old guard failing and leaving the new blood to clean up their messes is a pretty common theme in RWBY and we've seen it for several Volumes now, pretty much ever since Weiss started talking about how she wanted to redeem her family name. Between the mistakes of the headmasters, the various failures of Team STRQ, the way Maria talks about herself vs. how she thinks about the protagonists, and even the way Winter and the Ace-Ops struggle to make the right decisions, it's clear that RWBY wants to tell a story about the new generation surpassing their predecessors.
I definitely think Volumes 3 and 8 are really trying to hammer home the "strength is useless without unity" message. All of Atlas's vaunted military power is worse than useless when it's turned against the people of Vale. It fails to defeat Salem in Volume 8 because Ironwood is too rigid to work with others, to contemplate a solution other than brute force and sacrifice. Ozpin can't destroy Salem, no matter how hard he tries, and when we finally see her fight, she shrugs off everything the heroes throw at her. They only escape because of Hazel's sacrifice, because he stalls Salem long enough for Oscar to nuke her and holds her in place for the cane beam to hit.
When I think about my feelings about Volume 3 vs. Volume 8, there's a very similar sense of "what happens now?", but there are some distinct differences as well. It's hard to explain, but Volume 3 made me wonder "where do we go from here?", whereas Volume 8 makes me wonder "what's the point?". Volume 3 was a crushing blow, but it left me deeply invested in what came next. Volume 8 doesn't do that. It carries more of a sense of lethargy, a feeling of pointlessness, an uncertainty about whether it's worth even getting invested anymore, and it's because of the way the Volume handled a number of its plot points.
Basically, the way the Volume ended means a lot of major plot points went nowhere? Oh, Winter is being set up as the Winter Maiden, but that's a red herring and the powers and responsibility go to Penny? Nope, never mind, Winter has the powers now. Penny came back to life? Nope, never mind, she's fucking dead again, killed off in a controversial way by a controversial character in a scene that didn't even effectively establish the necessity of her death. Salem, our Big Bad, has finally taken the field? Surely she'll demonstrate how much of a badass she is now, why everyone should be terrified of the insurmountable evil queen of the Grimm, right? Nope, never mind, she gets sidelined 2/3 of the way through so Cinder and Ironwood can be the major villains. Blake spent her whole life fighting against racism and is now openly displaying her Faunus heritage in the Kingdom that's been most strongly associated with Faunus abuse and anti-Faunus racism? Surely she's going to have a major role to play here, right? Nope, never mind, she's going to do nothing but take Weiss's spot as Remnant's version of Renji Abarai and pine for Yang, all while Weiss and Yang do more to combat racism and Atlas's class divide by throwing a racist in a dumpster and snapping at an old lady and Nora gets the plotline that should've gone to her. Oh, Weiss's goal from the very beginning has been to salvage her company and redeem her family name, and she swears to defend her home in Volume 7? Nope, never mind, her home is now underwater, her company is in ruins, and the final boss of her storyline is apparently her own fucking brother, an abused child who her mother specifically begged her not to leave behind and was never more than a minor annoyance to be counteracted in comedic fashion, with no power or influence of his own beyond the password to his father's laptop. The culmination of Weiss's storyline was waving a sword in the face of her Auraless, untrained sibling and telling him to go to his room, after Willow handed her everything she needed to beat Jacques, and somehow this is supposed to be the big triumph we've waited 8 Volumes, 8 years of real-world time, to witness. Fan-fucking-tastic writing here.
It just... makes me wonder what plotlines I'm even supposed to get invested in at this point. RWBY's always had a problem with just never exploring things or dropping them when they become inconvenient, always rushing on to the next Cool Moment, the next thing the writers want to include, but Volume 8 feels particularly bad in this regard. Frankly, I think it's one of the worst Volumes in the show specifically for this reason. As much as I love the show, I just... don't feel the same hype for the approach of Volume 9 that I did with the approach of other Volumes.

I sent you the ask about track recs the other day, thank you so much for your response!! Are there any tracks/soundtracks that you think I should know the context of before listening? Basically, what I'm saying is, I know being aware of what scene is happening in a certain storyline can make the music even more meaningful in a lot of cases. I'm totally down to try and find any corresponding clips of the game on YouTube to certain tracks so I can be all like "ohhh that's what 'Ezio Confronts Lucrezia' (AC Brotherhood) is about" 😂
(Or is that not what the soundtrack is like? I first started listening to video game soundtracks with Detroit: Become Human's, and those tracks play during the actual game itself. But idk if it's the same case with the AC games, or if it's just a separate song album to go with the vibe of the games, y'know)
Also, while I'm here, why not just say this (even though I don't know what you're gonna do w this info 😂): I was googling what "Tarantella" means since there's Florence & Venice Tarantella (AC 2 & AC Nexus), and (the first thing on) Google was saying it's like an Italian folk dance. I keep imagining what was going on in the game was like that Kingdom Dance scene in Tangled, and I think that's what really made me think about what was happening during all of the other tracks, and what made me come back here :)
I can't even believe I didn't see this when you asked! My greatest of apologies<3
For the soundtracks, certain contexts are good! With your example, in ACB when Ezio confronts Lucrezia happens I believe happens when either speaking to her after Cesare's betrayal, or the dlc which I unfortunately am not familiar with yet </3
For Ac3, context is important to me, for the track Connors life I believe is so so important to know his backstory and his emotions throughout the game, it's also his theme so in general you'll hear it within a lot of tracks(bonus as well!) as a motif because it represents him as a whole and I love Lorne Balfe for that whegahah
Certain OSTs like unity, don't need too much context imo. The songs are enjoyable and constantly you hear the same motif for the main theme in a lot of the tracks! But the track Put your mind at Elise is played at a time with Elise, Arno's lover, who is very key to the game and Arno's story. So it's a bit mixed for unity if I think about it hard enough
All of these OSTS have tracks that play throughout their respective games and that's what gives the games life imo, some tracks aren't included in the official OSTs, so I recommend going to YouTube and looking for unofficial ones that people have posted! There are some really good ones :)
Kingdom dance from tangled is SO perfect for the label of tarantella you're so right asker
I'm so glad you came back to ask<3 again sorry for my late posting!!🩵🩵

Haven't been feeling well so I haven't played much.
The game always leaves me vaguely sad after I finish a section so I can't say I'm in a big race to play. I've heard Dead Kings is really good though, so that'll be something to look forward to for the ending.
But. I do have some thoughts. And hopefully this is buried enough that it's not hate in the tags. Because I'm not really hating, nor feeling hateful.
Just. Hmm. Reflective? I guess.
Arno isn't the problem. I actually like Arno well enough. He's witty, he's fun to play as. He is single-minded in his own goal but that is something we've known from the get go. Arno isn't a hardcore 'true to the Brotherhood' assassin. This keeps him permanently at odds with the other assassins but Bellec knew that about him when he recruited him.
A struggle I'm finding is that we don't really get any true understanding of the people around him. Bellec is a fabulous character. But by the time we kill him, we've had only a few great moments with him. Which doesn't always become an issue-nor is it new to AC as a series.
I don't find the combat much fun either, but that's just a mild point. I can't stand the Assassin Council in this one, but I also know very little about them. With Arno not being the guy in charge, (unlike say Ezio), you just get this sense of not being super important, (and they don't like Arno either)
I read somewhere that Unity's storyline is considered one of the darker ones-but it's not a sense of darkness that I find depressing or even lacking, there's just this weird sense of misery throughout the game. And its not it's setting. The Revolution being miserable is expected, but the general sense of frustration and annoyance that permeates everything after Arno has a successful mission is weird.
And hey! Perhaps I'm too early on in the game to say. I'm only around Sequence 7 (or 8?) and Elise is still a character I find very interesting but again-have so little time with I feel like I'm missing something. I'll revisit this after I finish the game whenever that is, but I can definitely see why this game is controversial in the AC sphere though.
Arno is fun though! I do enjoy Arno.
Still feeling the AC itch and all I had left was Unity so.
#ac unity#assassins creed unity#nates ac unity play#or in this case nates ac unity break and ramble thoughts#i spent three days on this post whoops-

What are some of your hottest/most controversial takes regarding video games?
Uhhh like recent games or in general?
Anyway:
I think it’s really hypocritical to praise modern games like RE Village for being shorter and letting the mediocre shooting mechanics/story slide because of how gorgeous it looks when we were practically crucifying on The Order 1886 for doing this exact same thing on last gen consoles.
That being said, there is also such thing as “too much game”. It gets to a point where I just don’t care anymore. There’s a reason RDR2 sits largely untouched in my library.
The difficulty of SoulsBorne/Sekiro is so overhyped it’s embarrassing. They’re excellent games, but they’re completely doable, even if you’re new to video games entirely.
Little Hope’s ending is one of the rare few times the “none of this is real” plot twist actually worked well. Peace of mind/a better mental state/the ability to finally move on from tragedy is a worthwhile outcome even without the presence of a physical threat.
Peace Walker is better than MGSV and the best game in the series. MGS4 is still good, but the weakest entry in the series.
Raiden (MGS) didn’t need a badass cyborg ninja makeover to be interesting — he was already interesting in MGS2.
Death Stranding didn’t need to be a Metal Gear Clone, it’s fine as it is.
Devs in companies like Square Enix don’t owe anyone a faithful remake with FFVII and can do whatever the fuck they want with their IP and bitching about it does nothing. Changing things in a remake of a “classic” game/story isn’t inherently bad — it’s what you do with those changes that matters. Anyone who gets mad about that needs friends and/or a new hobby.
ACIII and AC Unity both have interesting protagonists and Unity in particular had a very interesting plot/was gorgeous to look at, but my god the fucking bugs make them miserable experiences.
While we’re on the topic of AC, Syndicate is extremely underrated and ACII + Brotherhood would have been a 10/10 and 9/10 respectively if you didn’t have to get out of the animus. I don’t care about what’s happening outside of the animus. I will never care.
Fallout 4 isn’t that fun/feels empty/doesn’t look good without mods, but it shouldn’t be the responsibility of modders to make a game fun/make it feel less empty/look better.
Abby from TLOU2 isn’t inherently a bad character at all, she just had the misfortune of being in a game with a half-assed story that’s made infinitely worse by some of the most bizarre pacing I have ever seen in a game.
I don’t think Detroit: Become Human is a bad concept for a game, but I do think it was laughably bad in execution. Connor and Hank have the best storyline and I feel like that was a total accident. David Cage is a fucking joke and absolutely shouldn’t be allowed to write these scripts, let alone without a team of heavy handed editors.
FFXV/XIII/X-2 were good, some of ya’ll are just snobs.
FFX Tidus isn’t the worst character ever, but I feel like he was put into a unique position for a protagonist and the writers failed to capitalize on it.
Faceless and/or silent protagonists are rarely ever fun, save for like the new Doom Marine. (I will never care about Ethan Winters.)
Don’t like something? Don’t waste your time on it. There’s also a big difference between criticism of something you don’t like/didn’t enjoy and endlessly pissing and moaning about how much you hate something.

So far my opinions on the ac games
Ac1- N/A
Ac2- Really fun and an interesting story
Brotherhood- Currently unfinished but I can already see why it's my brother's favourite. It's real fun
Revelations- N/A
Ac3- N/A
Black Flag- N/A
Rogue- Not played yet but the full story clears up misconceptions I had previously with limited information about the premise in conjuncture with Syndicate
Unity- Didn't really care for it, don't like the parkour aside from indoor set pieces which are few and far between and the levelling system pissed me off. Had a nice story but the overall reason for this story to exist kinda fell short for me, no mention of the sword by the modern assassins and neither assassins nor templars caring enough to go after the remains of Germain kinda makes the game useless in the overarching narrative if that makes sense.
Syndicate- Missed opportunities due to the rushed development and shitty advertising but the game was really fun and it's everything to me.
Origins - Currently unfinished but so far it's fun with a really hooking storyline and I'm excited to get back into it
Odyssey - Also currently unfinished but it's fun too but it's closer to veering with some open world problems I have with valhalla 's open world but fortunately accounted for
Valhalla - I did not finish this game for a variety of reasons, the open world is boring and sparse. The mount travel is fun initially but why it's not centered I'll never know. I didn't like the characters either and I just thought the snippets of world building when it comes to the assassins weren't worth it
Mirage - N/A
N/A just means I haven't played the game enough to develop an opinion like black flag. Or haven't played it all like every other game.
