Applied Behavior Analysis | ABA Therapy in Bangalore
Tumblr media
What is ABA or Applied Behavior Analysis?
ABA is an approach designed to analyze, understand and even change patterns of behavior. ABA therapy focuses towards applying our learning towards analyzing how behavior works to real life situations. The primary objective is to encourage behaviors that are helpful and reduce or discourage those behaviors patterns that are harmful or affect learning.
It is referred to as Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention (EIBI) when ABA is applied to young children of smaller ages.
Applied Behavior Analysis is for whom?
It is specially designed for children with autism spectrum disorder or with similar neurological developmental disabilities.
What is Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) used for?
As you might know already that children with autism spectrum disorder may lack social skills, self-care skills, communication skills, play skills and ability to manage their behavior on their own. ABA helps in addressing these developmental issues and also help reduce not so pleasing behavior like aggression, screaming & inattention.
The core ideology on which ABA is based upon?
There are two principles on which ABA is based upon:
The various stimuli found in the environment or events influence the way human behavior is formed.
There is a higher possibility of recurrence of those patterns of human behavior which are an outcome of a positive consequence.
ABA functions on these principles to enable children with ASD learn those patterns of behavior that are new and appropriate. The key here is ABA does this by providing positive consequences and encouraging them for the right behavior patterns and avoiding problematic behavior by discouraging them.
What are the essential steps in ABA Therapy in Bangalore?
Below are the usual steps involved in ABA:
Assessment of the existing skill sets and difficulties of the child?
Post assessment setting of goals to work upon those essential skills
Design and implementation a plan to teach focus skill
Periodic Evaluation  of that skill to understand if the program is delivering
Post assessment making necessary changes to the course if required
A whole range of teaching techniques are deployed in teaching Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) during ABA programs. These might include Discrete Trial Training as well as incidental teaching. Programs may focus on available everyday interactions as opportunities to train children on the important skills. Children will be offered multiple opportunities to learn and participate in new skills every day. New skills will get added once they learn the current ones.
Gradually, skills are clubbed into complex behavior for example engaging a conversation, group games, or learning by observing what others are doing.
ABA can be delivered either one to one, in a small group format or at home or at home or gathering based upon the child’s necessities.
Cost considerations
The costs of ABA programs differ based on how many hours per week programs is scheduled, whether programs are designed in individual way or group based, and the level of supervision needed.
Does Applied Behavior Analysis work?
A lot of studies show that ABA has positive outcomes on the behavior of children with ASD.
Who comprise the ABA team?
Applied Behavior Analysis Programs should typically include two; one is an experienced ABA practitioner who supervises the intervention program and second is the staff who will work directly with your child. These staff is also called behavioral therapists.
Since Autism treatment itself is of the nature of a combined effort, the child’s Teachers, parents and allied health professionals can all be a part of ABA strategies once they’ve been trained by an expert.

Are you a New parents to Autism ?
Tumblr media
Here are few common threads and links which can be helpful, most helpful will be joining the Bangalore Autism parents group in Wats app (Admin will verify to avoid spam), I have posted the threads with a hope it gonna help someone. Never join any centre until you had a discussion in the Autism parent group or had a word with an expert. You can hear the real experience from the parents. Most of them publically wont write anything bad about a therapy center, but if you ask in person you can get the real story. Sometime its exactly opposite of what you felt.
Most of the parents from Bangalore did food allergy tests for their kid to identify allergy tolerance towards a particular food. It costs around 15k to 25k depends upon the level. 80% who taking their kids for ABA therapy tried and still trying glutin free diet as per the test result.

Reduce Problematic Behavior through ABA - JeySpecialNeedsCenter
Reduce Problematic Behavior through ABA
Tumblr media
Behavior problems could be minimized through ABA intervention. However, the intervention should be made by a qualified applied behaviour analyst. The ABA analyst at ABA center Bangalore observes the clients on a functional relationship with the environment. This observation gives a sense of what needs to be done and thereby a specific intervention is selected to apply. Here the focus is given on the reinforcer of the behaviour. Even family members and caregivers could intervene provided they have adequate information and understanding of ABA and how it works out in reality. The interventions are individual specific and as a caregiver, you must learn the scientific ABA methods before intervening.
Therefore, the caregivers must come forward to train themselves under the aegis of a behaviour analyst and his or her recommendations should be taken into cognizance. Overall, the training and ABA assessment revolve around maintaining consequences, provide reinforces with the right behaviour, and using a less desirable consequence. You need to advocate all these in practical to notice a reduction in self-injurious and problematic behaviour.

When do symptoms of autism appear | Autism Treatment Centres Near Me in Bangalore, Hulimavu | CAPAAR
Tumblr media
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), a developmental disorder, can be detected as early as infancy. The behavioral symptoms become more significant by the age of 12 to 18 months. Listed below are some of the early signs of Autism:
·        Difficulty to make eye contact
·        Non-responsiveness when being called
·        Difficulty to focus and pay attention when pointed at an object or person
·        Struggle to participate in pretend plays
·        Fail to convey or understand non-verbal communication
The symptoms of Autism often go unnoticed by the parents. It is only when the child does not start talking at the ideal age, autism is suspected.
Although the parents and caregivers do often catch some minor developmental lag and abnormalities, in most cases, the children are not diagnosed with Autism until after the age of 3.
However, studies have proven that Autism can be managed successfully to a great extent if these symptoms are caught and diagnosed at the early stage of a child and then taken appropriate intervention steps.
Regression:
Tumblr media
One of the characteristic symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder is Regression. In the regressive type, the child tends to withdraw from playing, using language and social interactions. These symptoms appear between the ages of 12 and 24 months. The diminishing skills may be detected at the early stages too. It is crucial to render an early diagnosis and thereby intervene through therapies to treat regression in ASD.  It is still ambiguous as to why and which child is likely to regress.
Early signs of ASD:
Tumblr media
Among the other early signs of ASD are the biological signs. Studies reveal that autistic individuals have a rare and exclusive brain functioning, convolutions and connections. The difference in brain structures and development is seen as early as 6 months.
The characteristics of ASD are grouped into three types and they are also called ‘The Triad of Impairment.’
·        Social Interaction: Many children with ASD may show deficit or impairment in social development i.e. may have impairment in developing appropriate social skills. Thus children could display problems in greeting, empathizing as well as sympathizing with others.
·        Communication and language: Some children may be able to talk in detail about their preferred topic but may draw blank when they need to ask for a basic need such as going to the toilet or when asked a specific question. They may also display problems in simple turn taking, waiting or following another person’s thought process.
·        Rigidity in Thought and Behaviour: Many children with ASD may show obsessive behavior, weak central coherence, and difficulty in imagination. Thus the child with Autism Spectrum Disorder could feel disturbed when some routines are suddenly changed.
Tumblr media
We believe that no single treatment is best and treatment is typically customized to the child’s needs. Here are some available approaches included:
·        Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)
·        Structured Teaching (e.g. the TEACCH program)
·        Speech & Language Therapy
·        Communication Interventions
·        Social Skills Therapy
·        Occupational Therapy
·        Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS)
