To be precise, I am an Indo-Guyanese-American: The mother of all hyphenated identities and an illustration of a historic journey from India to the Caribbean. This heritage is commonly packaged in a number of different terms, all of which are heavily used as referential identifiers: Indo-Guyanese. Indo-Caribbean. Caribbean. West Indian. It's been a shitty ass birthday month this year. We had plans to go to Laudree, but everyone's sick, so we can hardly go and cough on everything. There was the usual family + bestie crew for the dinner party, I made everyone watch Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. A non-usual crewmate, my mom's old bestie came to visit and stay over, and mixed with the shittyness of the month and being sick, I got more pissed off than usual about it. Because she came, the sunday plans to go to the mall with dad and cousin to buy OUR birthday gifts (cause all of three of us, plus my bil next weekend, all are nov babies) were abandoned cause my mom made dad take her and her bestie to costco for whatever. Like, we had to adjust all our birthday plans multiple times this month cause everyone's been sick af, and that is unavoidable, but this uninvited guest was avoidable! even if we didn't end up making it to the mall or wherever, it would've been cause WE were too tired or lazy, not because some fucking rando wanted to go somewhere else. like, this lady has 3 grown ass kids, all living in the same damn city, but she chose to invite herself over to stay the weekend of MY birthday. I didn't fucking invite her and at least this time of the year I should get a choice about it. I am being petty about it, but it's my birthday, I get to be petty. The lil cuz and I were gonna buy like a gojo plushie or a pochita for her, and finally some Sumeru merch at Sukoshi, and lush and sephora, and I was SUPPOSED to finally get my new phone this weekend. I actually need it now cause the back of my phone is coming off, and there's no time this week cause MORE guests, and this time it's my dad's shitty ass youngest brother (like okay, as a fellow youngest spoiled child, I understand why he's like that, but he's a 40-50 year old man, grow up my dude). //////////////////sigh///////////////// lowkey should've taken up my sister's offer to spend my b-day, bil's b-day, and american thanksgiving with them, but papa and me let our passports expire and it's too late now to make it in time for the events. lolz.

I didn't go to school today as I prefer studying at home. Although i am having so much internal conflics and worries right now about my decisions regarding this year. I keep doubting my decisions about studies and still doing things without giving second thoughts. I'm a bit gaslighting myself about my decisions of doing things the way I am doing and convincing myself that it is a good choice. I am not much confident as I am not planning to attend school regularly as it breaks my flow of self study also. But I'm still going on without stopping myself and cornering my doubts and concerns on my decisions. I don't know how long this inner conflict will go on.

I think I need some guidance on this but don't know who should I consult a teacher or a best friend or a family member.

PIPPA

The movie is based on the life of Captain Balram Singh Mehta, who served in the Indian 45 Cavalry Regiment during the 1971 India-Pakistan War and fought on the eastern front alongside his siblings. Pippa is based on actual events that took place in 1971 during the Battle of Garibpur.

In the Mehta household, where war hero Ram and his younger brother Balram fight through emotional struggles as they get ready for the Eastern front, the screenplay strikes a balance between family drama. Several city dwellers are steadily setting up second homes in Goa because it’s where they find both a lightness and a brightness of being. Few are successful at finding a foolproof formula for happiness, but Puja Gupta Talukdar, former Miss India Universe, has not only found what brings her unbridled joy but has also factored it into her home in Goa. The sprawling space that features soaring ceilings, she says, is a sanctuary replete with areas where she can indulge in the activities that bring her peace. “My favourite part of our home in Goa is the glasshouse overlooking my butterfly garden. It’s where I practise art and meditation. The house also has a gym, a massage table and a steam room. I love a good workout and a massage,” says Gupta Talukdar. In addition to this, she and her husband also enjoy spending their days by the pool with their furry, four legged family members Thor and Groot. This unhurried pace of life and lack of agenda, Gupta Talukdar adds, is what she loves most about her days in Goa. “City life is hectic. You know everyone there and there’s always some work to get to. In Goa, there is no agenda. It’s just me, my dogs and all the nature that surrounds our home. This can calm you down on its own,” says Gupta Talukdar, a homebody and animal lover whose ultimate goal is to set up an NGO for animals in Goa.

Brief Review: Elemental (2023)

Rated the film 2.5 stars out of 5. Perhaps the underlying science defiance earns this Pixar film a relatively low rating, yet the predictability of the plot certainly doesn't help. The technical brilliance of the animation company remains fully on display with the four major elements (earth, air, water, and fire) individually crafted to a visually impressive level, the different effects to showcase water (transparency) and fire (continued flame) particularly impressive. Unfortunately, the regular romantic comedy cliches appear throughout with some of the dialogue melodramatic (granted, that could be due to the melodrama infused in the characters) and the fact that water and fire do not mix scientifically, so the film's premise has extreme difficulty pushing beyond the suspension of disbelief. The musical score is intriguing in that it seems like Thomas Newman is emulating A.R. Rahman's East Indian style, yet the fire characters are based of director Peter Sohn's Korean background. Overall, this is not top-tier Pixar, yet a reasonable outing that will still work for family entertainment.

The four temptresses

Original fiction set in 1975 London. The story follows Meenakshi who is in a band with her childhood friend Devika and Meirong and Amina whom they meet in their adulthood. The band is only a pass time for them as they all have individual careers and studies as main focus of their life. Meenakshi ended up in a difficult situation when her dream of studying in university seem almost impossible because of nationality and lack of income. However her life takes a turns when Adhitha and his sibling which he is raising alone since he lost both of his parents during a car accident, enters her life and create some tensions even with her first love.
