Caesar and the MC should be Best Friends - Hear me out

This sounds really strange at first to hear. But the game did a terrible job of summarizing the story and showing the characters. The MC should be Best Friends with Caesar, check out why, below the cut.

Act One: The Premise (The MC will be referred to as Female because my character is female and I’m too lazy)

The MC has been trained to fight and use her abilities since she was a child. She’s been competing against others for the privilege of being the best as well. By the time she’s arrived at Cassell, she’s seen horrors that not even the Cassell Trio can boast of seeing.

Caesar in the meantime is planning his wedding. But Nono is AWOL. He’s getting no feedback from her and it leaves him just shooting in the dark for what ‘sounds cool’ For all of Caesar’s big talk, he realizes that he’s not really reaching Nono’s heart and he’s feeling a bit lost.

In the game: You save Nono in the game. 

Why you would grow closer to Caesar: This is not easily reconcilable with the novel’s opening scenes, so if we stretch and pretend you arrive before Nono goes on her Walkabout, that would make one HECK of an impression on Caesar. He would have seen immediately that you are a step far above Luminous. Being a self-described ‘maniac’ he would not have been shy about approaching you and telling you you’re 10x what Luminous is.

Caesar is mischaracterized in the game to a great extent. While his misogynstic leanings and need to be ‘tHe LeADer’ is played up probably for laughs, he’s not that over the top. Here’s how he’s portrayed in the Novel.

Anjou put the two of them (Caesar and Chu Zihang) together and actually wanted them to sincerely cooperate? The move was similar to keeping lions and tigers in a cage, with Lu Mingfei stuffed between them like an innocent red panda. But Caesar decided to do his best, because this time he is the team leader. The success or failure of the task related to his honor, and for honor, he can bear anything. Along the way, he repeatedly warned himself to be generous, to have a leadership style, to be a corporal... Take Chu Zihang as a corporal to "victory", Caesar's heart is much more comfortable. This time he is immersed in the pink mood of preparing for the wedding, and he is feeling very charitable, even to Chu Zihang this serial killer looks more appealing.

There’s no way Caesar would ignore you as the MC. You would be of utmost interest to him. Far more interesting than Chu Zihang and Luminous. He takes responsibility for you as part of the team, he owes you one for Nono, and wants to see you succeed, probably more than anyone else there.

Act 2: Your arrival in Japan

The game skips the whole opening sequence introducing you to Chisei and Sakura. In the novel, those fancy Kimonos were given to you by Anjou and yes they all come with umbrellas. The whole scene is supposed to be funny. Chisei is mistaken for a tour guide, Lu Mingfei compliments Chisei’s Chinese in his own broken Japanese and fantasizes about cute maid cafes, Chu Zihang freaks Chisei out with his golden eyes by accident. So I imagine the MC stumbling and falling trying to walk in Geta.

But things get serious when the police show up and you realize that you’ve entered the country illegally and are now about to get arrested. The MC might voice that this make sense “Because I don’t have a passport or any identity. There was no way I’d ever get into the country.”

After Chisei loses the police, you’re taken to your rooms to stay for the night.

Why the MC and Caesar would grow closer: At the end of this scene, Caesar is completely isolated, drinking in his room and texting a silent Nono. This scene would change with you as the MC there. This would turn into an opportunity for you to bond. Perhaps you would notice him texting, talking about his love of Nono. You could touch on your past with him for the first time, or not, depending. He’d probably say something enthusiastically fiery and confidence building. He wants you to trust him and trust in yourself. For all his flaws, Caesar is very LIKEABLE and easy to understand. You don’t get into positions of power like his without some level of Charisma.

Act 3: The Mission Details

In the Game: This whole scene goes missing. 

In the Novel: You take a whirlwind tour of Genji Heavy Industries. It’s an engineering marvel that is practically embedded in the central infrastructure of Tokyo (The building is seriously impossible and amazing but that’s for a nother post.). 

You sit down with Masamune for tea. Immediately, something jumps out at Caesar.

“Are you Japanese?” Caesar gave Masamune Tachibana an examining look..

"I'm only half Japanese and the other half Russian." Tachibana said.

Caesar frowned, which made him think of the soviet icebreaker Lenin involuntarily.

"I've been in Japan for many years, and a lot of people don't see that I'm half Russian, Mr. Gattuso.” Tachibana said, inquiringly.

"Accents, your accents have Slavic characteristics, and you'll distinguish between hard and soft consonants, which are typical Russian pronunciations." Caesar said, "You're not just Of Russian Descent, You've Lived In Russia." 

This is Lu Mingfei and Chu Zihang have no say in the matter since their two mother tongues are Chinese. But Caesar was aware when he heard the first words of Tachibana Masamune. He grew up as a different kind of man who could speak English, French and Spanish fluently in addition to Italian, and he could tell the language characteristics of every language spoken in Europe.

Even the wind demon villain Lang and yuan child in this seat are showing a surprised expression, it is clear that other owners do not know this matter.

Why this would bring you closer to Caesar: Not only would you pick up on the exact same thing, but he would speak with the same Russian accent as the MC. Languages are regional, Russia is a HUGE FREAKING COUNTRY. It would be no mistake that the Russian accent - Tachibana’s Russian accent - would match the MCs regional one.  Depending on how much your MC would have told Caesar, Caesar would have picked up a whole lot. Why you were awakened now, why you were sent on this mission... but that’s not even all!!

Later on, Chisei shows up after Tachibana leaves. He’s given you more information on the Lenin and why its sinking seems suspicious. But then he says this.

"Yes, the Lenin passed through the nameless port of northern Siberia, took a precious dragon embryo, and the port was destroyed in a fire. No one knows where the embryo is going to be shipped, the final destination may be Japan, or it may just pass by, but apparently it failed to reach its destination and the dragon embryo fell into the depths of the trench. Embryos have been hatching slowly over the years, but we haven't been aware of them. ”

Now depending on how much your MC might tell Caesar at this point he may or may not notice more parallels between the story of the Lenin and your story. You’re a hybrid, from Siberia who survived not just a fire but a bombs and getting shot. Heck imagine being the MC listening to this and realizing that this mission is intimately connected with you. In the game this happens way late, but in the novel it’s right at the start!

Why this would bring you closer to Caesar: At this point none of this would have been shared between any of the others. This is something only Caesar and you would know, shared knowlege that would likely mentally bond you two as allies.

The next scene is just more obvious bonding time. They all discuss likes and dislikes, their personal goals, dreams, loves, and ideals. The MC would still have Caesars favor but Caesar would fall more and more for Chisei’s charms. He’s bored and wants to see some ‘real gangster’ stuff. So Chisei obliges and takes Caesar to an operation between two rival gangs fighting over turf. 

This would be the first time you’ve seen Caesar actually get serious for once intimidating some gangsters in a comic store. But after that’s all over, he immediately gets interested in the comics. This is very important to note that Caesar is rarely serious about anything. And if he is it doesn’t last long. He tells a long story about wanting a PS2, staying up all night to play Star Ocean when the housekeeper smashed his console. So he purchased 200 consoles, gave the housekeeper an axe and every time he smashed a console he replaced it immediately and kept playing. Finally, they let him play video games 2hours a day after his riding lessons.

This is important. Caesar is pushy and insistent and confident because he HAS to be to be himself and defy his family.  This is is something even Chu Zihang can respect and he makes up with Caesar after, realizing that Caesar’s way towards him wasn’t personal, good or bad, he’s always acting out towards his family.

With you, Lu Mingfei and Chu Zihang closer than ever, it’s time to actually go on the Mission.  So lets recap: Caesar the Leader has pulled the team together, taken you off on entertainment, on adventures, and now just now, on the way to the mission. cooked for everyone while speedreading the the instruction manual for the Lenin.

Why would this bring the MC closer to Caesar? Uh, maybe because he seems pretty freakin’ competent? Almost effortlessly so? As Chu Zihang so succintly puts it:  “Sometimes I admire Caesar. Whenever and wherever there are goals, he’s rarely afraid and never discouraged. In a group of people he will always be the one who inspires fighting spirit. People can choose how they live, Caesar is the kind of man who asks himself to live like a hero." The MC who has never felt so helpless in her life, could have easily been inspired by Caesar. That maybe she CAN get back to the Lenin, figure out who killed her friends and give him exactly what he deserves.

BTS Reaction| Your family members fight a lot and you’re stuck at home

Namjoon 

You went upstairs to your room as soon as you heard the raised voices and closed yourself in there. You were tired of having to listen to their arguing. So you put your headphones in and immediately called your best friend. He answered on the first ring as always. 

“Hello? Y/n? Is everything okay?”

“I mean no but, how did you know?”

“It’s nearly midnight. You usually never call me this late unless something is wrong.”  You glance at the clock and your eyes widen when you realize he’s right.

“Oh my gosh I’m so sorry! Were you sleeping? Did I wake you?”

“Nope. I was just working on a new song.”

“Oh really? Can you tell me about it?” 

“You need a distraction?”

“Yes please.”

“Alright. Well it was probably one of the fastest times I have written a song. It got it done in just a few hours. I was feeling very... inspired.”

“Oh really? What inspired you?”

“Hmm a walk in the woods. I saw a leaf fall from a tree and the lyrics just started flowing from there.”

“Your brain amazes me, Namjoon.” He chuckles at that.

“Thank you. Do you want to hear it?”

“I’d love to!” He plays you the song and it immediately gives you a sense of comfort. You let yourself be lulled into a peaceful state by the gentle melody playing through your headphones. When the song is over you let out a happy sigh. “That was amazing.”

“Really? Do you think Army will like it?”

“They’ll love it. I know they will. It will make them feel just as comforted and happy as it did for me.” 

“Perfect. That’s what I was going for. Thanks for listening to me ramble on.”

“Oh no it’s exactly what I needed. Thank you, Namjoon.”

Jin

You had a pillow over your head trying to drown out the raised voices, but it didn’t seem to be working. It was really starting to wear on your nerves so you did the one thing you knew would cheer you up, face time Jin. You hoped he was back at the hotel now and you weren’t bothering him. He answered almost immediately. You can’t see his face as his phone seems to be laying on the counter, the camera facing the ceiling. 

“There’s my adorable sweetheart of a best friend- Hey why do you have a pillow over your head?” A loud slam of a door across the hall makes you flinch. 

“Does that answer your question?”

“Your family is fighting again?”  You sigh. 

“Of course. Just a daily occurrence in the life of quarantine.  What are you doing?” The camera moves and you immediately giggle at the sight. He has on a face mask but there are black rings around the eyes and nose that make him look like a panda. You burst into laughter when you see his indignant expression. 

“Hey what’s so damn funny? There are no jokes about this beautiful, handsome face.” 

“What on earth- are you wearing?” 

“Hey! We’re on tour in a foreign country our face masks and beauty products are limited.” You try to stifle your laughter by bringing the pillow over your mouth instead. 

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t laugh, I just wasn’t expecting that.” 

“It’s okay. I do look quite silly. But yet I still somehow manage to pull it off huh?”

“Sure, if that’s what you want to believe.”

“Don’t make me come over there.” 

“Oh bring it on grandpa-nda.” Jin tries to hold back his laughter because he’s trying to be mad at you but soon his loud and boisterous laughter rings out into your room. 

“I can’t possibly be mad at a fellow appreciator of dad jokes and puns. Are you feeling better now?”

“Much. Thank you.”

Yoongi 

The moment your family started arguing you went into a different room and closed the door. You pulled out your phone to text him but as usual, he seemed to have some weird sixth sense with you and had sent you a message as you were typing yours. 

Hey, just wanted to check in and see how you were doing. 

Um, not great but I’ll manage. 

You see the three dots appear as he is typing back a message but soon they disappear and your phone is ringing. 

“Yoongi?”

“Hey. Sorry I was going to just text but I figured a phone call would mean a little more. Is everything okay?”

“I mean it’s just my family again.” That’s all you have to say and he immediately knows. 

“I saw a really cute dog today.”

“You what now?”

“It was really cute. A little fluff ball. The cutest dog I think I have ever seen. I took a photo, you want to see?” Your phone chimes with a text message and you open it and look at the photo. He’s laying down on his side and has Holly in his arms. His eyes are crinkling at the corners and you can tell he’s smiling even though his mouth is covered.

“That’s Holly.”

“Yes. And he is the cutest dog in the universe. No other dog compares to my precious Holly.” You find yourself smiling hearing how fond Yoongi is of his dog. 

“Indeed he is. But his owner is even cuter.” You hear an odd choked off noise and even though you can’t see him you know he’s blushing. 

“Ah don’t say things like that. It’s not good for my heart.” 

“Sorry. I couldn’t resist. You look really happy in that photo though.” 

“Because I am. Being home with my family and getting to see Holly makes me happy. Um.. you know if your family is fighting a lot you are always more than welcome to come and stay with me.” 

“Really?”

“Of course. My family adores you. If it gets to be too much, you always have a home with me.” You feel tears well up in your eyes and quickly wipe them away.

“That means a lot to me. Thank you, Yoongi.” 

Hoseok

If there was one thing that could cheer you up when your family was fighting it was your own personal sunshine, Hoseok. You texted him and asked him for a distraction and suddenly your phone was bombarded with adorable selfies of him pouting at the camera, smiling, holding up a finger heart, doing multiple different adorable poses.

Feeling better now?

Of course. How could I not when I get to see your smiling adorable face?

Sorry. I mean I just speak the truth. Nothing makes me feel better like your smile does.

Another picture comes through, they’re all in the photo now smiling in the practice mirror. 

Dance practice! 

Ah I’m sorry! I shouldn’t keep you then. 

Nonsense. We’re taking a break anyway. And even if we weren’t you know I’d drop everything just to cheer you up. I promised you whenever you needed me I’d be there remember? No matter what. 

You smile to yourself as you remember the day Hoseok came back to your house and was absolutely over the moon that he was going to debut. But one thing he made sure to promise you was that nothing would change between the two of you and that he would always make time for you. And he has made good on that promise without fail. 

Yes I know. And I appreciate you so much for that. No matter what time of day it is you always help me feel better. 

Good! Are you feeling okay now? Are your family still arguing?

Hmm I don’t think so. I don’t hear anything. And yes I am, much better. Thank you Hobi.

You’re welcome sunshine! I’ll call you later tonight after practice okay?

Jimin

Jimin, are you busy?

Hmm just practicing a new choreo! But I always have time for you, what’s up? 

You press the phone icon next to his name.

“Okay now you got me worried with how quickly you called me.”

“Just.. can you distract me please? Or just keep my mind off things? I just want to forget everything that is going on right now for a little bit.”

“That is a very open ended question y/n with many possibilities.” You can hear his smirk through the phone. 

“Not like that you pervert!”

“I wasn’t being serious oh my goodness. I just wanted to make you laugh. Sorry.” You giggle into the phone and hear him sigh into the other end as if he’s relieved he didn’t actually upset you. 

“I’m just messing with you, Jimin. But seriously. My family is fighting again and I just don’t want to deal with it right now.” 

“Ah I have the perfect idea to distract you then! Switch to video call.” You did and were blessed with the sight of a barefaced, casually clothed Park Jimin. 

“So what is your idea?”

“You can watch me dance! I know how much you like to. And you can tell me what you think of the new choreography for my solo. Is that okay?”

“That sounds perfect. Watching you dance is like an out of body experience I swear. Feels like my soul left my body and ascended into the heavens and I am watching an angel grace me with his presence.” 

“Ah y/n! You flatter me too much.”

“It’s true though!” He waves you off with his hand but you definitely don’t miss the way his adorable puffy cheeks have turned bright red. He walks over to the speakers and presses play to resume the music. It truly is like watching an angel. He moves like he has wings, feet barely touching the floor and movements so graceful even the most experienced prima ballerina would be jealous. You watch on in awe as he seemingly floats across the practice room. You don’t even realize you’re tearing up until he stops dancing and runs towards the phone with a look of alarm on his face.

“Did something happen? Or was I just that bad?”

“Shut up, Jimin you were perfect. Seriously. That’s why I am crying because that was the most beautiful thing I have seen in my life.” You wipe your eyes with the back of your sleeve and when you look back at the screen, Jimin is smiling. 

“Thanks, y/n. I’m glad you liked it.”

“Loved. I loved it.” He blushes again but doesn’t try to hide it this time, allowing you to see his eyes disappear as he smiles at you. “Dance for me again?” 

“Anytime you want y/n. All you have to do is ask.” 

Taehyung

Taehyung had called you, like he did every night to check in and see how your day was. Unfortunately he called right when your family was in the middle of a world war III level screaming match. You answered and he immediately heard the yelling in the background.

“Oh, sweetheart I am so sorry.” You sniffle and try to collect yourself so he won’t worry.

“It’s fine. I’m used to it by now.” Your voice cracks and reveals to him just how upset you are. 

“Stay right there. I’m coming over.” 

“What? No, Tae it’s late don’t- Hello? Taehyung?” You pull the phone away from your face and see that he has already hung up. You sigh and set it down on your bed, pulling the pillow against your ears and trying to drown out the sound. Without realizing it you end up drifting off to sleep, only to be woken up by a heavy body flopping next to you on the bed. You throw the pillow off of you and sit up feeling startled. Looking to your left you see piles of snacks and drinks from the convenience store, and a very sheepish looking Taehyung. 

“I didn’t know which snacks you’d want so I bought one of everything.” You stare at him for a moment before a megawatt smile is displayed on your face. You jump over all the bags of snacks and tackle him in a hug. 

“You’re the best. Thank you so much. You have no idea how much this means to me.” 

“Of course! Anything to make you smile and cheer you up.” He opens a bag of chips and takes one out and holds it to your lips. “Open!” You do and he pops the chip into your mouth, it’s your favorite which just makes you even more happy that he remembers these little details about you. You are both in your own little world, eating snacks and happily chatting before you hear more shouting from downstairs and the frown is immediately back on your face. Taehyung pulls headphones out of one of the bags and places it over your head. They’re noise cancelling so you can’t hear anything except Winter Bear playing through them. You feel yourself immediately relax, and sway to the beat. You close your eyes and focus on his voice as he gently tugs you to your feet, and slow dances with you around the room. You have completely forgotten about why you were upset in the first place, the only thing you are focusing on is him. His voice, his hands around your waist, and the soft feeling of his lips against your forehead. 

Jungkook

Jungkook was a sweetheart, to put it lightly. He was an angel. And today was certainly no exception. You two had been texting back and forth and when your family started arguing you stopped answering him back, opting to put your headphones in and listen to music to block everything out. He got worried when you just suddenly stopped responding so he called you. 

“Y/n? Sorry were you sleeping or something? I just was a little worried when you stopped answering.” 

“Ah, sorry just..”

“Your family again?”

“Yeah...”

“What were you doing?”

“Listening to music.” 

“Hmm.. were you listening to your favorite group by any chance?” You know what he’s hinting at but you couldn’t help but tease him a little bit.

“Indeed I was. Got7′s song always cheer me up and put me in a good mood.”

“O-oh. Okay. Yeah I see why you like them. They do make good music. And they’re handsome and funny. Yugyeom is one of my best friends so if you want to meet him someday I can introduce you-”

“Jungkook.”

“Yes?

“I’m just messing with you. I love Got7 but when I am upset it’s your voice I want to hear.” He gets quiet for a moment and you can picture how flustered he is, you almost laugh but hold it in. 

“You know if you want to hear the real thing all you have to do is ask. If my voice helps you feel better I will sing a thousand songs if that’s what it takes.”

“Really?”

“Yes, of course.”

“Okay then. Sing for me.” He clears his throat.

“Annyeonghaseyo jeoneun Bangtan Sonyeondan-”

“Jungkook!” You immediately burst out laughing and hear his giggles soon joining yours. 

“Sorry. Just wanted to make you laugh for a second. But for real now, okay?”

“Okay.” You settle back into your pillows and bring the blanket up to your chin, getting cozy and waiting for the surely ethereal vocals to fill your ears.

“Neoneun nae salme dashi tteun haetbit.” His voice sounds beautiful. It’s unlike anything you’ve heard before. It’s like comfy fuzzy blankets, a warm fire after being outside in the snow, a hand to hold when you’re feeling down. It’s comforting. It’s warm. And it’s everything you need right now.  Without even realizing, you’ve started to drift off to sleep. But Jungkook keeps singing even though you’ve fallen asleep. He wants to make sure you stay asleep, and don’t have to listen to anymore unpleasant sounds, he wants your dreams to be filled with bright colors and happiness. And if the way your breaths are even and unstrained are any indiction, he knows he’s accomplished his goal. 

“Sleep well, angel.”

8.  Are there other CBS shows you’d want to go on, and if so, why? - I would love to do the amazing race, but i’m from the UK so they won’t let me shshhs

9.  What other Reality shows do you watch? -  I watched The Only Way Is Essex up until 2017, I could also rewatch ANY season of Geordie Shore or BBUK

10.  All time favorite houseguest? - This is a hard one, Idk if it counts, but Nikki Grahame was on BBCAN and any house she’s in turns the season up to 11 for me, If I don’t count and has to be from BBUS, Vanessa from bb17

About the Show

1. What is your all time Favorite twist? - The Twin Twist, if the twins don’t tell anyone (which is sadly always going to happen) it feels so tense like sumn about two people having to act like one person is just iconic to me!

2. What is a twist that you like, but kind of flopped? - The MVP twist, In my eyes this flopped like the season, I think if they made it so you could only be the MVP once then it would have worked better in season 15, but they also could have flipped it so that the evictee picks who goes up, that would have been iconic watching everyone asking who put up the 3rd nominee, but it was actually the person they sent out the door the week before

3. If you were the new Grodner and had to remake the show, what would you keep the same? - The art team, I don’t think they get enough credit, Sure sometimes it’s a bit meh, but the den of temptation was just *chef’s kiss*

4. What would you change? Casting, that is all i have to say about that.

5. What’s your all time favorite comp? Generic answer, but OTEV is actually so iconic to me, the strategies, the fights, It also gave me one of my favourite Janelle moments ever

6. What’s your all time favorite competition? - idk if i’m being a clown, but this is basically the same as question 5 sksksk

7. All time favorite punishment? - To me all the punishments are kinda dull, like i feel like the producers do it more for comedy on the shows to shy away from the actual problematic stuff that happens every season.

8. If you could bring any houseguest back to be in the house (not to play the game) who would it be and why? - So they just like sit around and observe from inside? If I’m allowed, I’d say miss tea queen Angela Clancy from BBAU12 cause she is some good TV.

9. If you could bring any houseguest back to play, who would it be? - Jackie Ibarra, Hands down!

10.  What is your most memorable episode? - BBCAN5, Week 5′s Eviction episode a.k.a THAT double eviction!

11. If you could have any reality star from any other show on BB who would it be? She’s been on the UK version already, but Gemma Collins!!!!!

12. What’s your favorite BB series outside of normal BBUS (normal BBUS does not include CBBUS or BBOTT)  - BBUK cause I grew up with it (and thought it was the only version until bbus16 started)

13. Favorite Julie Chen sign off? - I prefer Arisa Cox’s “Someone is always watching” so Julie doesn’t speak in my mind sjsjsjsj
