Blackjack is a cool vigilante person who has at sixteen mastered the art of disguise, become an expert swordsman and detective, and speaks eleven languages. Blackjack is also that kid you knew from high school who got into theater instead of going to therapy.

Unlike the Cosmic Contender, Marina had no powers to protect her. And Blackjack’s enemies were many. The only things standing between them and an untimely end to their crusade, are their own skill, and layers upon layers of misdirection and expendable personas.

Marina is fully capable of reciting Twelth Night and As You Like it in their entireties, solo, back-to-back, from memory. On the one hand, that is cool. On the other hand, that is the lamest thing imaginable.

Blackjack had been in plenty of close encounters, mostly thugs with knives or various more improvised melee implements, it wasn’t often he met someone sword to sword. Let alone someone who could keep up with his own skills.

 The level of obnoxious theater kid combined with the level of absurd method actor and perfectionist in Marina means Blackjack’s Elizabethan English should be technically flawless but like. fuck if i’m writing that.
