My review for the Timeless fic
I've finished the story and WOW!! It was amazing! The characters really reminded me of their canon counterparts (which is what I want in a fic first and foremost) and even though sometimes they didn't behave like they would in canon (very small details actually. For example, the Darkling calling Mal "Oretsev" since he would never call him that or the Darkling spoiling Alina with sweets for her breakfast) it didn't take away the pleasure of reading it AT ALL.
So, in short, I loved it! And if I had to rate it I would give it a 9/10. "Start a War" remains by number 1.
Also, I will read the next parts too!
(I planned to show you some moments that I found SPOT ON for the Darkling and his relationship with Alina but now I don't remember in which chapters they were, so...🥲)

Hello! I know you've recorded podfics of your own in the past and was wondering if you have any tips on podficcing in general? I've listened to your podfics before and loved them a lot, so I figured you might have some pointers 😁
Hello 😊
Thank you so much for your kind words about my podfic! 💛
I’m not super experienced (I have only made a few) as the @dispatchpodcast basically took over my life at the time I started podficcing 😂
But I can give you some info on what helped me. This got kinda long so I’ll stick it below the cut:
Firstly, I would say, just give it a go. It can be hard when you listen to podfic and it’s so amazing and polished and you feel like you can’t achieve that, but you will learn and get better as you go. I was very intimidated but am so glad I did it anyway.
I picked a shortish fic that I really loved to get started, and that’s what I would recommend. Something that you love so you’re excited to read it, and something on the shorter side so it’s not so overwhelming. Make sure you get permission from the author of the fic. The author might have blanket permission given for podfics in their AO3 profile or on their Tumblr, but if they don’t you can reach out to them to ask.
I listened to lots of different samples of podfic by others to help me get an idea of what I wanted to do in my reading and editing. Different people have different styles, and you’ll figure out what works for you. For example, I love podfics where the reader does different accents, but I am personally rubbish at accents so I don’t do that. As another example, from a editing point of view, some people remove breathing sounds, some don’t - I do because I hate the sound of my own breathing (though I don’t mind other people’s).
I have an external mic, but you don’t need one. You can use your laptop mic or phone mic, or start that way and get an external mic later if you like.
I record directly into and also edit using Audacity. It’s a free program available for Windows and Mac. I had some previous experience of using it but had forgotten pretty much everything, and found it easy to pick back up. But there are other programs available, and you don’t have to record straight into the editing program.
There’s lots of tutorials and things online. I heavily used this one when I got started (and still refer to it now).
AO3 has some very useful guides too, such as this one which goes through the whole process from choosing what to podfic to posting the final product.
I also am in the podfichat discord, which is really helpful. And I cannot go without thanking @mistmarauder, who has been super kind and supportive of me, always willing to answer my questions, and is a huge inspiration!
Hope this helps and please let me know if you have any questions at all!

Will you talk a little bit abt your process moving to a new country? Not like the laws and stuff, just like how it happened… I have the means to do it too but I’m really scared about selling all my stuff and leaving my house and everything. I love your blog, thank you in advance! 💛 ✨💛💛💗💗🌙🌙✨🌼🌼
Aw, thanks!
Okay ummm
Apart from the procedural process, the shift has been fairly easy for me. Well NOW though- the mental and emotional leadup to doing it was HUGE and took many months. I teach manifestation so I definitely spent all the time ahead of it using those kinds of techniques and keeping my mind really centered.
As I've mentioned before I had a relocation specialist so having meetings w her about the process gave me a lot of confidence and then ofc I made a short trip to my target country to meet w her and get a tour which was like microdosing the experience itself.
The few weeks right before were the hardest bc I was under a sudden and unexpected time crunch and it was really heavy having to pack my life up, get rid of things and prep without really a lot of time to grieve or anything. Then I had to make the first leg of my journey out, alone, and even once I had help from a friend who joined me the whole thing was really stressful and intense and I was just like kind of emotionally 'locked in' and in survival mode for a few more weeks.
But, after that I was able to rest and start to readjust and that part was honestly easy. it can get tiresome not knowing or not being fluent in another language- when I first got there I basically always picked up a pizza I could order online or just shopped at the grocery store to avoid having frustrating interactions.
But I also had a language teacher and my partner and his family and that really helped me acclimate. I honestly don't get homesick; I did not like living in the US it was such a place of violence stress and trauma. Nice to visit my friends but I'm happy to be here and every week I get better at talking to people. The only thing I miss are certain foods bc central FL is very caribbean and asian and where I'm at rn lacks a lot of those flavors. It's hard to find good canned coconut milk.
I left my home, my friends, my food, my language, my birthplace, my whole life. ANd I'd do it again.
My life has more time in it now, I'm not as stressed and rushed. It was a huge hurdle but like I told my partner- I ran away from home a few days before 18 so this is not the first time I've jumped a wall like this in order to be safe and free.
10/10 highly recommended, I wish you all the best in your journey too.
If there's anything I can say advice wise it's this:
A) You feel attached to your stuff now but the attachment or the grief of its loss is temporary. Now I'm not one of those who says 'get rid of everything!' bc if something is really core to your routine just know that SOME items are very hard to replace in another country. But the pain of loss is temporary in most instances.
B) Some of the stuff we have and love living in The Imperial West we love bc it soothes the ache we feel from living here. Remove the ache, and the need for the soothing is gone, too.
It's not that bad. Generally the gain is greater than any losses just make sure you've done your research.

1. Thank you being so informative.. analytic blogger. I love your writing.
2. Have you written a fan fiction? If yes, I would love to read.
3. This girl in my class is a shipping gg with an actress of one of his drama. Today we had a little talk and she said there’s no difference between turtles and other shippers of famous people. Only difference is that turtles haven’t seen their cp together for 3 years. It hurts a bit. How can I reply to her? I’m not good at words.
Hi, Anon, thanks so much! I'm glad you're enjoying my blog! 💛.
Fake, fan fiction, CPN.
I've actually got a few stories in various stages of development, but who knows how long it will take me to finish them? I'm a very bursty writer, and will spend hours hammering out several pages and then not touch it again for weeks on end. If I ever have anything ready to share, I'll definitely post about it!
I'm sorry to hear that you've been hurt by the conversation with your classmate. It's never fun feeling misunderstood by someone whose regard we care about.
As I'm always saying, we can't control what other people say, do or think. The only thing we have any control over is how we respond to what other people do, say or think.
As I see it there are a couple of solid directions you can take with this (and I recommend a bit of both of these):
Change how you think about your classmate - It's not her behavior that has hurt you, it's the weight you give her words that has hurt you. Consider the source. Is her opinion really something you should be giving any weight to, particularly in terms of how you feel about your interests and how you feel about yourself? Does her opinion really hold so much credibility? NOOOOO. No. Come on, Anon, she's shipping GG with a woman. She's teasing you in hurtful ways. Perhaps she hasn't earned any real estate in your head.
Change how you think about being a turtle - This is something I feel all turtles who are suffering might want to take a closer look at, and that's what I'm going to focus on here.
I think it's always important to remember that to people who are not inside the fandom and have not seen all the evidence we've seen, we just look like a bunch of typical shippers.
I know some turtles feel bad knowing that other people don't see what they see, but it's actually a really good thing they don't. Keep in mind that GG and DD's relationship is under the radar. If it was as obvious to everyone else as it is to us, that would ultimately mean that their relationship is 'out', which would really harm their careers.
So it's in GG and DD's best interests that we seem crazy to other people. Wear it like a badge of pride. Every humiliating, snide, mocking remark from others is a reminder that we are supporting them while also protecting them. Better that we seem like lunatics to others, than that GG and DD are outed against their will to the broader world at large.
Embrace being a clown. It's a huge part of how we all stay sane as turtles. Next time your classmate starts saying stuff that feels diminishing of your feelings about GGDD, just laugh and say, "Yeah, I'm a clown for GGDD, and I'm so lucky to have them."
Don't waste your time trying to convince others that BJYXSZD. It's a fool's errand, and will only generate pain and conflict. SZD is everyone's personal path to take. Trying to become a lawyer for GGDD is the best possible way to ruin your experience of fandom.
Just enjoy GG and DD, enjoy their works, enjoy being a turtle and let everyone else be who/what they're going to be. It's their absolute right to be wrong about you. It's their absolute right to be uninformed about GGDD. It's their absolute right to ship whoever they want to ship, no matter how absurd.
And if clowning doesn't work for you, a little sympathy might. Humor her and let her enjoy her little corner of het romance. Someday she may need comforting from you. 😅
And on a more serious note: you never know what someone is getting out of their fandom. It's possible that shipping GG with a woman is giving her the strength to get through a difficult time, or maybe she's exploring her feelings about love and sex through the process of shipping, or maybe she's trying to process something from her past through fantasizing about GG and this woman. Or maybe she's just having fun and enjoying something that feels as sweet to her as GGDD feels to us.
Maybe hearing you talk about GG and DD put her ship on stormy seas, and she reacted by lashing out and trying to dismiss your feelings about GGDD. Maybe she really needs/wants to keep her ship steady in her mind. Maybe she's completely unconscious of how hostile her words felt to you.
We never know where someone is at, where they're coming from or what they're going through. It's always best and safest to be compassionate and give people the benefit of the doubt (while being wary and cautious around those who have said or done things that have hurt us, of course).
There's that old saying from Maya Angelou: "When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time." To put that in my own words: never fail to be aware of and to learn from the information you get from how people treat you. This is so important. How people treat us defines our relationships with them - and our experience of life - on so many levels. It says a lot about their values, and about how much they value us and/or our needs.
It seems this classmate has some things in common with you - she's into C-ent, she's into GG, she has a ship she cares about - but in other ways it seems she's not at all in alignment with you. Her hurtful remark might seem like a small thing, but it's actually a fairly big sign that she might not be wholesome, safe company for you.
Maybe this person isn't someone you should be hanging your self-worth on. Maybe she isn't someone you should spend time with or talk to about things that are dear and close to your heart. Not because she's awful - she's probably a perfectly fine person - but rather because her behavior is at odds with your needs.
Find people who will be kind and supportive toward you, even when they don't share your views. Find people with a spirit of curiosity about your thoughts and feelings, who genuinely want to know and understand you and your interests without casting judgment on them. People who are compatible with what you need from friendship. People who you can trust to handle the soft, vulnerable things you share with them with tender loving care.
Often we are drawn to and stick with people who we think we have things in common with, but we fail to notice that we actually don't share the same values around feelings and friendship. Being into the same band might be fun, for example. It gives us someone to go to shows with and to talk with about the latest album. But focusing on shared interests can often blind us to the many other incompatibilities we have with someone.
Trust me, I've learned this the hard way so many times.
And to get back to your question - how can you reply to her? - I'd ask you to consider whether you really need to. What do you hope to gain from replying to her? If your hopes have anything to do with changing her or changing her mind or making her see things differently, my advice would be: don't waste your time. It would only become a painful battle and make matters worse.
Clowning is more fun, and less likely to end in tears.
Anyway, I hope any of this rambling nonsense has been helpful to you. You might also find my fandom survival guide helpful.

It's been a while since I have bothered you with a really long ask, so I will take this opportune moment to do so. 😂
Do you like KISS? I listened to them quite a while ago, when I was first getting into all these old rock bands, and I have to admit, I was not overly impressed. (This is just my opinion, though. I understand some people love them and I COMPLETELY get that. This is purely opinion.) So I thought for a long time that I was not a fan of theirs.
Now, I'm not so sure. I feel like, despite that, they have a lot going for them. For one, I LOVE their makeup. I absolutely love it. That gives them such a unique and iconic look. Like, as soon as you see them, you know who they are. They have such an iconic look, and I really, REALLY like that about them. That's one of the endless reasons I adore Slash so much- he has an iconic look almost to that extent. Top hat, black curly hair, shades- you know it's him as soon as you see him. That's something that attracts me to KISS quite a bit, even if I am not a huge fan of their actual music. In addition, I feel like they can put on great shows. With the fire-breathing act and some other effects they do, I feel like going to their shows would be a really memorable experience, music aside.
They have a great look, I feel like they can put on really good shows, and I do admit, there are a handful of songs by them that I really like. Ten, altogether. They are as follows-
Yes, those are the KISS songs I like. I know that isn't very many. But if you have any recommendations you think I might like, you know I'd be more than happy to take them. As few as there are, I still can't pick just one favorite.
Also, I just have to add that Paul Stanley is gorgeous and beautiful, still to this day. I can't get over how much him and Stephen Pearcy of Ratt look alike. They look like TWINS. And there's pictures of them together where you can clearly see the resemblance. It's actually insane.
I know KISS is on their final End Of The Road tour, and that literally makes me want to bawl my freaking EYES out. Even if I don't like the band to the extent I like other bands, it still makes me want to SOB. Because they formed in 1973, and after all this time...after doing this together for so many years...I genuinely cannot even 😭😭😭.
In conclusion, I don't really know if I like them that much or not. I guess I can be called a fan of theirs, but I have to pick the songs, lol. (It's actually sad how much I analyze and overthink all of this. I seriously need to get a life, lol.)
P.S.- It is entirely possible that I have sent you an ask similar to this before, but I have terrible memory, lol. Thank you for putting up with me anyway. 💛
Yay, it’s my Southern Sis! 😆🧡
I DO like Kiss a lot. I would rate Ace Frehley in my top 5 best guitarists, actually. You’ve listed some great songs. I’ll add a few more: Deuce, Strutter, Beth, Black Diamond, Love Gun, Lick It Up, Detroit Rock City, and Hard Luck Woman. (It wouldn’t let me add anymore Spotify song links, so I just listed them for you.) Beth and Hard Luck Woman are sung by the drummer, Peter Criss, whose voice I LOVE.
Anyway, listen and tell me what you think. 🖤

🗺🥺💟 for the ask game :)
thank you for sending me these 💛💛
bookish ask game
🗺: what's a book series you love that's inspired by the culture/history of a specific country?
answer: the wolves of no world duology by romina garber
this young adult fantasy series has a big piece of my heart because it isn’t just the reader gaining insight into argentine folklore but the main character, manu, also learns more about where she comes from and what’s really significant in her culture.
not only is this series a love letter to the author’s home country, but it discusses a lot of issues that come with gender politics & immigration, showing how with as much magic & wonder there is to discover, there’s also some deep-rooted prejudices to overcome.
🥺: what's a truly underrated book/series you recommend and wish the whole world would read?
answer: the skybound saga by alex london
also a young adult fantasy, this series has complicated sibling dynamics and is set in a vibrant world where birds play a central role in a society that both fears and respects such creatures. the books get darker and darker the more history is unfolded and secrets are revealed, anger manifesting itself in the cruelest ways among characters as they all share so much grief it blinds them until the end.
this series has two central perspectives but there’s a wide range of characters, even those who are relatively minor, that have a voice in the narrative and once you reach the finale it all just clicks. each and every one of them are victims of a violent event that goes way far back and with each puzzle piece that is uncovered, there’s so much more you come to understand about why things happened the way they did.
i can’t believe that i haven’t heard more people rave about this series.
+ common bonds: an aromantic speculative anthology, edited by claudie arseneault
knowing there’s an anthology specifically focused on aro-spec folks feels like a stroke of luck and so i can’t help but want to add on this title as well since it deserves so much more recognition, just as well as the aromantic community, because we do exist and there is a huge group of us.
this anthology doesn’t focus on how just one aro perceives their personal relationships, but covers a whole spectrum that takes place in so many different worlds and uncovers so many different dynamics it means a lot to know that it exists in this world.
💟: a book/character trope you can't get enough of?
answer: family sagas & lovers to enemies
an example for the former would be books like “things we lost to the water” by eric nguyen & the greenbone saga by fonda lee. i’m very sentimental and family does mean a lot to me so i can’t help but seek it out in fiction. where found family resonates with some (i do love that trope as well), stories focused on the highs & lows of those who share blood resonate a stronger chord with me.
an example for the latter would be victor & eli from the villains series by v.e. schwab and the darkling & alina from the shadow & bone trilogy by leigh bardugo.
with victor & eli, they never really were lovers but they did share a deep bond that rivals obsession and crawls into something much more intense once they become enemies. that kind of betrayal hits too close to not acknowledge how much potential they could’ve had if they didn’t rip themselves apart.
the same can be said for alina & the darkling as just before alina discovers the darkling’s true intentions, they had their first kiss; it was something so special to them both bc it felt like they were crossing into a territory that could reveal a lot of light for the both of them. but then this secret is revealed and all that light is washed out with distrust that only further enlightens their dynamic as they’re still incredibly drawn to one another but stand on very opposite sides due to their own pasts.
the darklina fandom does a phenomenal job with highlighting why this dynamic is so intriguing not just in fics but in headcanons, edits, and fanart as well so it feels like i can never get enough.
i just think that kind of relationship dynamic is neat.
