#A Diamond in Training (homeworld verse)

SU Music Rankings

Bc I can and I wanna start some Disk Horse rip. These are all in order of preference, with explanations, etc. It’s a long bitch. That said, I’m not counting little short jingles or small joke songs like Little Butler. This is the meat and potatoes of SU music- just under 30 songs. I might do the rest if people like my takes lol.

I scored it mostly on three bases- how dear it was to my heart, how much/often I relisten to it, and also what it means to the plot. That said, little fun songs don’t automatically go farther down than big, plot-heavy songs either! It’s a strange little balance.

Special Note: I don’t dislike any of this music! I love SU and that includes its bumps and glitches. I just pick favorite children lol.

1.) Change

Was there ever a more Steven moment than when he wiped the blood off his face and kissed it into sparkles? I think not. 

If “Be Wherever You Are” is an ode to young Steven, then this is teen Steven’s. Talking about change, and how much and how little it can do. How he holds his arms up for Spinel to hug him, so trusting. How he seems able to just. Break into soft tears at will, and not to be manipulative- it’s just his kind nature. The warmth in his voice. Fuck yesssss.

2.) Change Your Mind

This song is only fifty five seconds and it’s EVERYTHING to me. It really felt like someone was speaking the words I’d always held deep inside of me, unsure of how to say. It feels like a goodbye to someone who never really loved me. 

As much as I enjoyed Future, if this was the finale of SU, I would’ve been perfectly okay with that.

3.) Drift Away

This song gave me legitimate shivers the first time I heard it, and it still haunts me to this day. Spinel stayed, and waited, and all she got was a transmission thousands of years later. Fuck.

4.) Here We Are In The Future

THE MOVIE IS SU AS ITS BEST AND I WON’T BE SWAYED ON IT. Steven being a teen who loves his weird family but is growing just a bit sarcastic to their drama. The adorable love he and Connie share. His slow realization that he will always be working, always have things to do, is both somber and real. The Crystal Gems won’t be safe with one epic battle. They’ll be safe with years of hard work and love. HIS LITTLE HANDSHAKE WITH AMETHYST.

This is a helluva bop and a great way to summarize the main character’s backstories.

5.) Let’s Only Think About Love

Did ya’ll know that Zach Callison killed his throat with that last note? He gave his all for this performance in a vocal range he no longer comfortably do and by god did it SHINE. The FLAIR. The FORESHADOWING. All of the Gems all being awkward about Rose and Steven trying to bring them to the present. Peridot having a mini-existential crisis in a cute yellow dress. I love Zach Callison’s normal singing voice but man is that a fucking bop. Nothing will ever beat it.

6.) Here Comes A Thought

This bad boy helped me out a LOT with some mental issues I was dealing with in high school. I was unmedicated, unsupervised, and full of anxiety. I’d have break downs when I tried to speak about certain things. I couldn’t function. This song inspired me. It helped me feel okay with my intrusive thoughts.

And the episode! -chef’s kiss-. Once again bringing up the morally gray area of training child soldiers. Connie expanding her social group. Steven’s trauma hauling ass in that second half. The ANIMATION. Stevonnie’s gorgeous singing voice. GOD yes.

7.) It’s Over Isn’t It?

Just barely squeaking above Stronger Than You, this ballad is everything gorgeous. The whole episode is. I think Mr. Greg stands in the top five of my episodes for the entire show. It even got nominated!

There’s just so much about this song that I love. The gentle melancholy of Pearl’s voice. How the crew had to redo the shots for this bit bc Deedee went so fucking hard. The hard cuts between Pearl, remembering the love of her life, and Steven, who has begun to feel like he took her away. I’d recommend this song to anyone, regardless of what they do or don’t know about SU, simply bc it tugs so many heartstrings of love, loss, and responsibility.

8.) Stronger Than You

Did you realize this episode aired SEVEN years ago? This bitch was what got me into SU! Hearing about Ruby and Sapphire made my little gay heart so happy inside, and then getting a whole song confirming that they were a couple, that their love powered the strongest Gem on the team? Aaaaaaaaa

To this DAY I get excited when I hear Estelle start singing. This song is timeless. This song will live in media history. God I fucking love this song.

9.) Other Friends

I’m not the biggest musical person, so I hadn’t heard of Sarah Stiles before her casting as Spinel, but JESUS CHRIST the lady went hard. She went SO fucking hard. Sarah Stiles started on 100 and somehow just kept CLIMBING. You can just hear the sheer manic energy building in her voice, the anger and resentment. 10/10 Sarah Stiles is a queen.

10.) Independent Together

This made the list entirely bc the crew was like “you’re gonna get a himbo ass Steven-Greg fusion singing with Opal while Garnet flies across the moon on Lion while floating” and I am forever thankful to them for it

11.) Who We Are

Bismuth deserved more songs. ‘Nuff said.

12.) Peace and Love (On the Planet Earth)

It Could’ve been Great is EASILY one of my favorite s2 episodes. I love the entire concept of this song. Of Steven making music to reflect how much Earth means to him and his family. Of him teaching Peridot some self-care. Also Peridot’s singing voice is really cute and squeaky. 

I know it’s silly, but I would’ve really enjoyed a flip around of this in Future! Like Peridot reminding Steven how much he loves music, that he needs to take time to relax for himself, maybe with a new verse or just a remix of the original song!

13.) Something Entirely New

I watched this episode as it aired, and I legitimately almost cried. I love Charlyne Yi’s voice so much ya’ll- her raspy, not perfect singing voice against Sapphire’s deep soothing lull is great.

And to have Ruby and Sapphire’s meeting be the way it was- for Ruby to bemoan Sapphire losing Homeworld, to being stuck with a single Ruby, while Sapphire is a noble who has always been taught everyone in her “caste” is vitally important (and has, in her own mind, taken that to mean every Gem, as she should) and how they come together and make each other happy. Good shit good shit.

14.) I’m Just a Comet

The fact that Greg’s music career never really blasted off pisses me off to this day bc Tom Scharpling’s voice is fucking BUTTER. Also the song really feels like a jab at his parents now that we know the kind of dynamic he had growing up. “This life in the stars if all I’ve ever known” is definitely him wiping away their existence after reminding them (and himself) the things they used to say about him.

15.) Do It For Her

This episode. This fucking episode. This episode got me permanently hooked on SU. I’d just binged season 1 and was kinda meh about it overall after the bop of Stronger Than You. “Oh,” I thought to myself, foolishly, “I’ll probably just casually watch this from time to time.”

Like three days later Sworn to the Sword aired and that was it. I was hooked! Pearl’s gentle training song turning darker and darker, Connie’s accompaniment from nervous to determined to fully into such a toxic mindset. The fact that SU had the BALLS to discuss the repercussions of training child soldiers, now and later. This episode was everything to me, STILL is everything to me.

Six years and well over 100 fanfics written later, I think it’s safe to say this show swallowed me whole and never let go.

16.) System/Boot.pearl_final(3)

I debated putting this on the list because it’s not anything crazy important, just a way to show things are Wrong, but I had to do it entirely bc Pearl is so damn SALTY.

Like telling us about the Gems makes sense, she felt like she was given a duty, but she went so damn petty. WHY is that Ruby alone. Gross. This Amethyst is a trash dump. Wtf are you people.

17.) Full Disclosure

This episode really feels like a turning point for SU. Before, the show had its dark moments- but now we’re in the thick of it, and it’s not going away. Full Disclosure felt like an rebuff to the idea of returning to any normal we’d established in season 1. Gems are actually a giant species now. Gems tried to kill us now. There’s this Yellow Diamond bitch who got namedropped. Something about a Cluster. 

The song itself is BALLER, with its ingenious use of Steven’s ringtone and photos as he tries to decide whether to clue in Connie on all this nonsense. Meanwhile we, the audience, already know damn well Connie about to yeet some common sense into him.

18.) What’s the Use of Feeling Blue?

I’mma admit it- I’m a Yellow Diamond stan. I’ve always loved her- her anger, her poise, her hardworking nature. I actively argued against the “Yellow Shattered Pink” theories back in the day. But, man, when this arc leaked? I got so overexcited I was too jittery to watch it for like two days. It’s easily my favorite arc of the series. The sheer alien nature of the zoo, the Famethyst, and absolutely Patti Lupone’s beautiful ballad. Goddamn. Yellow singing to Blue to try and help her regain her old status, the warble in her voice as she reminds Blue she misses Pink too, the movement of the bubbles as she talks about attack. It gives me shivers to this day. FUCK.

19.) Tower of Mistakes

This is, fun fact, that only SU song I have completely memorized. The story itself is kinda funny! See, we lost internet at my house for a solid 5 to 6 months when these episodes aired, so I only got a very brief window to view them all. But this was the first Amethyst song in a long while, and I didn’t want to forget it! So I keep replaying it in my head for ages. And that’s still definitely a thing.

Anyway will never not be sad that this entire song was about making it up to Garnet for Amethyst’s perceived slights with Sugilite (which was a two-way road), only for Garnet to pressure her into fusion later when pissed and never discuss it again bc Garnet probably never thought twice about it and Amethyst has the emotional openness of a clam that’s just been told its ugly. Helluva way to make someone feel like shit, G. Helluva way to bottle that shit, Ames.

20.) On the Run

I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a million times: Amethyst! Needed! More! Songs! 

The dichotomy between Steven’s play and Amethyst’s honest desire to run away from home is so well-done, especially when you consider a lot of Steven and Amethyst’s actions are playing together. The song is also near and dear to me simply bc it’s my favorite Amethyst episode to exist (well, maybe second to What’s Your Problem, but not by much). Moments like these are all the proof I need that they were right to fuse first.

21.) Be Wherever You Are

This tune really just feels like an ode to who Steven was as a kid. Trapped on an island with no way home, and he’s just happy to be with his friends. The stars are beautiful and not oppressive. Also that one animatic with Lars and the Off Colors playing in the Homeworld Kindergarten to this music was iconic and made this song get stuck in my head for a solid month.

22.) Familiar

I ADORE how the crew use bright neon colors to show how alien Homeworld can be. And Steven recognizing that the Diamonds treat him how the CGs used to, and how prepared he is to “fix” a broken family. It’s a soft, gentle tune about melancholy. Also the Pebbles are beautiful.

23.) Let Me Drive My Van Into Your Heart

Such a cute little love ballad, but every time I listen to it now I just imagine the heart attack Rose must’ve had at the line “And if we look out of place/Well, baby, that's okay/I'll drive us into outer space.” like there’s a Vietnam war flashback if I ever heard one

24.) What Can I Do?

I’m kind of neutral on this one? Rose and Greg both have great voices, but the song itself lacks many lyrics. I think it was definitely a good way to show Rose’s flaws in thinking.

Also, I’m shocked they managed cram that much vaguely sexual innuendo into two minutes, followed by how Not Hetereo that dance between Rose and Pearl was, and not get their asses chewed by it. You go guys.

25.) Cookie Cat

I love a lot of the vibes this song has. The lyrics are so damn prophetic, but they also sound like the kind of weird 90s commercials I grew up on. It’s been like two decades since I saw the Shirley Temple commercial but I’ll be damned if I don’t remember “Animals crackers in my soup! Monkey and rabbits loop-de-loop.”

26.) Giant Woman

I am. NOT the biggest fan of Steven’s original singing voice. I feel bad saying that, since it was just Zach Callison as a kid, but he never jived well with me for some reason. So I wouldn’t listen to this on the fly. 

The song itself is still really good though, with all sorts of fun animation of Amethyst and Pearl being bitchy to each other. It’s a bit sad in hindsight to see tiny Steven trying to get his moms to get along. Ahh, season 1.

27.) Strong in the Real Way

This song has SUCH a strong start. Pearl reflecting on Sugilite’s problems, but the show making sure to show us that Pearl’s lack of enthusiasm towards her also lends itself to jealousy as well as just general malaise. How much she cares about Steven, and wants him to grow up strong. 

And then Steven just kinda. Ruins it? I appreciate his enthusiasm for tryna bulk up but to take what was starting as such a rich, personal song and broadcasting it to random strangers just makes me a bit sad. Almost a bit angry on her behalf?

28.) That Distant Shore

I KNOW this is gonna create some discourse, but I’m just not the biggest Lapis stan. I love her voice. I love the visuals of the song. And I get why she felt afraid and needed to flee.

But Lapis never got to take responsibility for her own actions. And, in the end, the song feels hollow to me- because we all know she’ll never talk to anyone about it, know she’ll burst back in and destroy the barn, and no one will ever question it. I like Lapis a lot, but I feel like her arc never was fully finished. She never got help. She never learned to feel safe.

29.) Dear Old Dad

I’ve yet to meet a single human being who likes this episode tbh. There’s some great discussion about what kind of parent Greg is from it, and what kind of dynamic he has with the Gems that he felt he had to fake an injury to hang out with his son. Honestly the first half was fine and dandy. It’s just that then they Greg just went out of his way to drag Steven away from missions and such. It never jived well with his character before or after.

Also, is it just me, or does Zach himself sound like he hates the song as he sings it? There’s no passion or heart in his voice. It sounds like they told him to read off cue cards and he did. Tom Scharpling’s best attempts didn’t save this one for being a skipper. But the episode, unfortunately, isn’t, so it gets a spot on here.

Verses 9-11: Other

{{Home Sweet Home}}

A very simple verse in which the Galar that Spirit is from was never overrun by UBs! Spirit grew up the apple of his parents eyes, and when the time came, both his parents argued over who would endorse their son for the gym challenge. His father ended up being the one to endorse their son for his gym challenge. He was also childhood friends with both Raihan and Gordie, given that his mom’s own friend group consisted of Raihan’s parents and Melony.

Spirit happily took his gym challenge alongside the rest of the future gym leaders, crafting a fine team (starting with the Hattena and Venipede gifted to him by his parents!) and even making it to the semi-finals. The son of the Poison and Fairy type gym leaders had taken the league challenge by storm, and was quite the fan favorite to become Galar’s next champion. However, Spirit had very little desire to actually become Champion, however, and lost his semi finals match against Leon. While the rest of his peers eventually became gym leaders themselves, Spirit spends his time floating around Galar. His parents have been putting more pressure on him to do more with his life, and decide which of them he wants to succeed.

Generally though, Spirit doesn’t really quite know what he’d like to do with his life just yet. Thus he’s been constantly dodging the question, though its certainly become a popular topic for the media.

An AU where after the events of SWSH, its post game, and the Guzzlord attack on Wyndon Stadium, Spirit finds himself boarding a strange train with infinite, impossible train cars. With a strange green number on his hand, that runs up to his wrist at that, Spirit wanders aimlessly through the train, unsure of its purpose. Or why he’s being bothered so consistently by a group calling themselves, The Apex. This verse is primarily set before the events of Season 1, but can take place in any Book

{{When Somebody Loved Me}}

A Steven Universe based AU for Spirit. In this verse, Spirit is a pink pearl in hiding on Homeworld. He was originally of Pink Diamond’s court, and belonged to a Pink Sapphire. He was incredibly close to the Sapphire’s Amethyst guard, and close to the Sapphire as well. Or at least he believed he was close to the Sapphire. Spirit, however, is considered off color for a Pearl, for not only can he not store things in his gems, but he began to take a more masculine approach to his appearance instead of the traditional feminine appearance of standard pearls.

Before Spirit can be transferred to a different court after Pink Diamond’s shattering, he is caught fusing with the Amethyst guard. Both are set to be shattered, but Spirit manages to escape due to the Amethyst slipping him a weapon, allowing him to catch their guards by surprise and poof one of them. Spirit now lives in hiding.

Corrupted!Spinel Verse Info

Concept and verse highly inspired by MoJin’s artwork.

Verse can vary in it’s placement in the SU timeline. Main interactions will take place in her main verse/post-film, however can work in a more Crystal Gem AU verse.

Main verse: Spinel becomes corrupted from an unfortunate accident with an old homeworld weapon prototype. The intention and purpose of the weapon hadn't been to purposely corrupt a gem, however, still being early in its testing and development, it was the unfortunate effect.

Optional CG Verse: Could have been corrupted with the many other crystal gems from the Diamond Authority attack, or could be corrupted along the way at any point during the series itself. This version will be relied heavily on plotting.

Spinel’s corrupted form is very rabbit-like in appearance, and while she is capable of running on all fours, she spends most of her time lumbering around in an upright position. Standing as such, she is rather large. While definitely not the biggest of the corrupted gems, she still stands close to Garnet’s height from head to foot. Covered entirely in fur, her color palette has grown darker and a bit dull, but there are splotches of discoloration splattered over her form. Her fur in general is very dry and prickly, especially along her limbs and backside. Her eyes have no clear iris, simply engulfed with rings of glowing pink with a single, pinpoint pupil at the center. Her gem itself has dulled in color as well, although does occasionally seem to flicker with light from time to time.

Still very quick, very flexible, very bouncy, but she's lost her ability to stretch parts of her body at will. She can still stretch, however, if someone were to grab her and try to pull on whatever part of her they have, but there will be a point where she’d reach her limit and no longer could.

As depicted, her eyes do secrete a thick, black liquid. Very much in a manner as tears, but it’s inky, tar-like properties make it much more than that. It’s very sticky and has a bit of a foul smell to it, but is generally harmless in small quantities. In larger amounts, it can become a bit of a problem and be very difficult to get out of should one get stuck on something from it.

This ‘crying’ ability isn’t something that is constantly occurring. Rather, her tears are only brought about during moments of high emotions regardless whether it is positive or negative. The only problem with that is that most of the emotions she feels are very strong and powerful for her. So, it can seem like a very common thing that happens.

Other than her physical strength and capabilities, Spinel also has a sonic wave emission ability that is normally emitted by a shrill screeching. While not lethal in any way, it does have the power to push others away or knock them back entirely depending on the intensity. This sonic wave of hers is physically seen as distorted rings of dark pink. 

Being corrupted as she is with little to no memory of herself and running on a twisted mental train, her corrupt instinct/drive is essentially to hoard people. One of the main purposes for her tar-like tears; to keep others trapped with her, incapable of ever leaving her.

If she isn't stopped or prevented from doing this, she can and will trap or kidnap others; humans, gems, and any other living being she can get her claws on.

She can be tamed to a degree, and become attached to a single individual. However, she becomes very possessive and clingy to them. And can be a handful to deal with as she can grow aggressive towards others who get too close or who she deems as a 'threat' to herself.

"Oh yeah that's how princesses are always dressed. Just as pretty as sapphires. They're kinda the reason I begged to have sapphires in my court. Which I am proud to say I have atleast one now! She's like my personal advisor? That's what blue said anyway." The boy spoke before giving a light shrug.

"I learned about princesses through my movies and storybooks." He explained with a light wave of his gloved hand. "Once we're done playing this game I can show you. It'll be nice for someone to actually be excited to watch those with me. I got the diamonds to once or twice but they either seemed bored or were confused about the whole thing."

Which spinel could be too. Not only was she a gem who probably only knew as much about humans as the zoo showed her but unlike other gems in her court she had a lot of catching up to do. Being left alone in that garden kinda left her lost with the times. She'd probably be considered old fashioned compared to the younger gems on homeworld and even the older ones would be more up to date on things.

He was looking forward to playing colony. The boy had never even thought of playing that before. Despite how much he really wanted one. For some reason the other diamonds were really hesitant on giving him one. Atleast they wanted to wait a long time. Like he was gonna live thousands of years like his mom had. He honestly wasn't sure how long he could exist being half human and all.

Steven laughed happily. Then taking his pearl doll and speaking for her. "Why thank you!" He spoke in a more high pitched voice before laughing again. "Oh spinel you almost got it. Here let me help you." The diamond prince then lifted the large teapot and pretended to pour the liquid into one of the teacups. "Now you drink it like this." He said before taking a sip from said teacup. "Oh and make sure to lift up your pinky. It's fancier."

"Oh well that great! That'll make this way more easier then! We can talk to her together in the morning." He still wasn't sure about yellow and definitely didn't wanna introduce her to white just yet. Out of all of them blue would be the most understanding and apparently liked the gem already. Not to mention she seemed to cling to things attached to his mother's legacy. She wouldn't just cast aside spinel when she used to be pink very best friend.

Princey's room did look pretty similar to how it had all those years ago when it used to be pink's but there were some slight differences. His room was themed around royalty which he pretty much was but moreso princes and princesses from those disney movies he watched. Ones that he would likely show spinel seeing as they would be spending all their time together now that they were best friends.

In his toy box his mothers toys still remained. As well as some of the pebbles resting there but also sat on top were his various dolls. Some taken from trips blue had taken on earth. Every so often she liked bringing the boy snacks and toys. It was one of the few ways he connected with his human side. Because gems had no way of knowing the gender norms modern humans had she had always just bought him the toys on the pink side of the toy aisles.

As a result since he was a toddler he was just given more girly toys to play with which varied from dolls to, dress up clothes and makeup and nail polish sets. As well as sets for his tea parties. Along with all normal dolls he also had custom made ones that looked like pearls. Before spinel came along they were his favorite gem type and one he attached himself to seeing as the diamonds pearls basically acted as his nannies.

"Oh I've never even thought about playing those games!" He kinda wanted to play that colony game at one point. He'd been begging for one forever at this point. "I usually play hide and seek or tag. Oh and I like having tea parties! So let's play that one!" Quickly he gathered up some stuffed animals from his bed and placed them around his little table meant for such a game. Along with a couple pearl dolls. "Okay this is how you play. These are tea cups and this is the teapot. You're supposed to pour the pretend tea inside them. Then you just have conversation with all my toy friends! Think you can do it?"

so for the part of the SU fandom that wanted a full-on war between the Crystal Gems and the Homeworld Gems (because the ones complaining about them not murdering the Diamonds seem to WANT a war), what exactly would you EXPECT to happen in that scenario?

you would have, at best, the surviving crystal gems (I’m counting garnet’s components as 2 here, so four), Steven, Connie, perhaps Bismuth, and that is it. Probably not Lapis or Peridot, because if you follow the ‘kill everyone who does not immediately follow your teachings’ mentality, they would have not survived their first meetings with Steven.

When you have him be someone who just kills his enemies, you have literally every single Gem that opposed him wind up dead. That includes Bismuth, incidentally (Hence the ‘maybe’ with her).

But the point is, at best, that is six or seven people against an entire empire that is also ruled by three beings so powerful they are revered as goddesses, and its not an unfair read of their power. All the Diamonds are so astoundingly powerful that they can one-shot any non-fusion in a single fight. Maybe, just MAYBE, Obsidian can take on all the Diamonds. That’s a big if, but MAYBE.

What about the thousands, perhaps millions of Gems across the rest of the Empire?

Seven people cannot win against that many.

Because it would only be seven. Humanity cannot win that fight, because humanity in the SU-verse DOES NOT FIGHT.

There is little to no evidence, at ALL, that humanity even has a concept of military force or of combat in Steven Universe’s alternate history. Humanity is a peaceful species, and there is no sign of us ever having any military presence at all. And even if we did? A human fighting a Gem loses, and loses badly. The only time a human has ever fought a Gem, that Gem was a corrupted monster unable to properly weaponize her abilities.

A properly trained Gem will almost certainly beat a human every single time; sure, Connie can fight monsters, but she has, again, BEEN TRAINED BY A GEM. And Homeworld has thousands, millions perhaps, of Gems specifically designed and intended for killing absolutely everything in their way. From Rubies to Quartzes, Gems are designed to fight and to win.

We are not, and again, SU humans do not have a military.

If Earth fights Gems, it won’t be the Gems that die.

Verses & Lore

;Verses

;V: Before the Fall: Takes place pre-Rebellion when the Sisterhoods were still in the Diamond’s favor (at least Pink Diamond’s favor). Mostly takes place during colonization of Earth.

;V: Faith in a Warzone: Takes place during the Rebellion, Baddeleyite and the remains of the Sisterhood have joined with Rose and serve as a sort of combat medic force, spread out across the fronts as healers for both Gems and humans caught in the Rebellion’s crossfire.

;V: All That Remains: Takes place any time between end of the Rebellion and modern S*U story line.

;V: Here We Are!: (post-CYM and post-Movie, will update as SU Future releases) It has been two years and a handful of months since the end of hostilities between Earth and Homeworld. All is relatively peaceful and the future is looking bright! Much has changed but somethings still remain. Even after all the hard work that has been put in, the scars of the past still remain on Earth and beyond, waiting to be put right. Probably the angriest gem out of the bunch, for a number of reasons but mostly it just comes naturally

Possesses typical gem abilities as well as both empathic and extrasensory abilities, occasionally may suffer from overstimulation and sensory overload. Tends to avoid a large audience because of this and will lash out in anger first and foremost.

Surprisingly able fighter with proper training. Is quick and relentless, but doesn’t pack too hard of a punch (yet), will keep coming at someone until they poof him. Likely has some sort of weapon on hand as he can’t summon his own.

Swears like a sailor- has more experience with earth lingo than Homeworld’s.

Tiger’s Eye (Neil)

Abilities

Destabilizer touch. Her ability is similar to her Diamond’s: she can produce a electric wave through her hands that can destabilize gem’s forms. Her sword can canalize the wave and amplify it and poof a gem’s form only with a cut, but this attack is useless for shattering any gem.

Healer touch (*only effective on organics beings). Yellow can heal superficial wounds such as burns and cuts on organics beings by touching them with her bare hands. However, she discovered this ability very recently and still can’t control it perfectly.

Standard Gem Abilities: Shapeshifting, summoning her weapon from her gem, fusing, bubbling, and retreating to her gem if seriously injured.

Personality

Calm, confident, cheerful, enthusiastic, emphatic, protective and even mmotherly. She actually hates fights and any kind of conflict, but she also believes that going against her purpose –acording to Homeworld, at least- and rebeling wouldn’t allow her to protect as much gems as she can being a quartz soldier.

 Bio

Yellow Quartz was created in one of Yellow Diamond’s colonies in the early stages of the Rebellion on Earth, in a Kindergarten focused on creating especially resistant Quartz soldiers, not ofensive but defensive oriented. The primary goal was to create soldiers capable of pacify, secure and eventually re-take areas threatened by the rebels, aswell as poof and send the rebel gems back to Homeworld for their reformation or shattering according to the gem’s potential use; resources were starting to become limited, after all. Of course, if the defensive Quartzes failed into ‘pacifying’ the rebels, then it was the time to the ofensive one, whose only mission was to shatter any rebel gems.

Since Pink Diamond’s shattering she has been sent all across the Galaxy for securing areas in Yellow Diamond’s colonies when needed, guarding aristocrat gems in certain locations or sometimes even for training Era 2 Quartz soldiers –this last one is her favorite duty, because even though she has to be severe with the gems, she also gets to protect and educate the young gems for a certain time.

  About the gem:

Yellow Quartz brings the benefit of clarity for decision-making, relief from 'burnout', panic, nervousness or exhaustion, sharper memory and concentration skills, and protection from lethargy and depression during dull weather. They help to create a sense of confidence, zeal, happiness and adventure. Paler yellow hues are most helpful when cheerfulness and enthusiasm is needed. The deeper the shade of gold, the stronger its powers of manifestation for self-assurance and success in leadership roles.

Loyal to Herself. Some time between the events of Message Received and Hit the Diamond Yellow Quartz was sent to Earth to ‘recuperate’ the ‘irreverent Peridot’ and bring her back to Homeworld, but shortly after her arrival she cut any communication between her and Homeworld. Truth to be told se didn’t planned on rebeling against her orders but events had a unexpected turn. Her ship landed near Empire City and Yellow couldn’t supress her curiosity and went to the human city. There she found a little human girl –five, six years— asking for money or food in the streets: no human seemed to care about her, wich was extremely odd for the Quartz. She brought her food and stayed with her for a while; when she was ready to go away and continue with her mission the girl was ready to follow her. Yellow decided to accept her company and continue with her attemps of locating the Peridot, not to turn her but out of curiosity.

Yeah, I guess you could say she kidnapped a little girl without even knowing. Let that problema to the Crystal Gems when they find out.

The young boy was absolutely overcome with excitement. His eyes shining like stars before he was presented with his pearl but to be fair he had been brimming with excitement ever since the news of finally being given a pearl was announced by his grandma white diamond. Once steven laid his eyes on her he giggled happily before literally running into her arms.

Attacking the pearl with a bear hug. It may have startled her at first due to the suddenness of it but most likely she would feel at ease looking at his happy expression. "It's really you! Pink pearl! You were my mom's pearl and now you're mine!" He pulled away but grasped both of her hands. "You're perfect! You're pink and pretty! Plus you got my name right on the first try! You won't believe how long it took for the diamonds to call me steven. Anyway it's really nice to meet you!"

It was an exciting day. 

Pearl, who’d been mindlessly puppeteered by White Diamond for so long, was being returned to her diamond. Of course, she knew that Pink Diamond was different now; she was Steven (whatever that meant). Pearl knew that Steven was different than Pink Diamond, having been given the quickest of rundowns from Blue and Yellow Pearl. While she wasn’t sure she fully understood what they even meant, she was excited to have control of herself back.

The pink gem was standing as straight as she possibly could as she was escorted to Steven’s quarters by her fellow pearls. The excitement of this development had her nearly shaking, though she tried not to show it. 

The moment the door opened to the tower room, Pearl curtsied deeply before looking at Steven with her one working eye. “Hello, My Steven.” She spoke, before standing back up straight.
